spk_0 Jason Willen, I mean, Will, Jason and I are the only two people in glasses.
spk_0 Well, you usually wear glasses.
spk_0 I was like a building. That was like a billing situation.
spk_0 You said, Jason and Will, no, no, sorry. I mean, Will and Jason.
spk_0 No, I said, Will, Will call you and said, listen, next time you mention my name,
spk_0 I'm on Jason Willen. I'm going to mention my name first.
spk_0 And you also say, and introducing Willen.
spk_0 And introducing, with me, I prefer to be on the other side.
spk_0 Do you want to say Will and Jason and introducing Willen?
spk_0 No, say, yeah. You're saying that you're only two in glasses.
spk_0 Yeah. Yeah. I was going to say, don't you, you usually wear glasses?
spk_0 I do. I wear my reading glasses, but I'm far back enough now from my screen
spk_0 that I don't. So I look younger than you guys.
spk_0 Well, you know, you don't need to see Will today very well,
spk_0 because he's doing an audio show called Smart Less.
spk_0 And Will come to it.
spk_0 Smart.
spk_0 Smart.
spk_0 Smart.
spk_0 Smart.
spk_0
spk_0 Smart.
spk_0 Smart.
spk_0
spk_0 Smart.
spk_0 Let's hang on a second.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Sean Hayes is back in town.
spk_0 Yeah. No, you just literally for yourself.
spk_0 I was just saying, you applaud Sean.
spk_0 We'll start it.
spk_0 And then you can join it.
spk_0 You know, just, by the way, I have to tell you something.
spk_0 So I would go, I went out, out the stage door after a couple of shows.
spk_0 I know after one show.
spk_0 And people were doing that bit.
spk_0 They're like, no, no way.
spk_0 Yeah. In England, yeah.
spk_0 You guys.
spk_0 Um, but uh,
spk_0 It's travel sometimes.
spk_0 It's travel.
spk_0 People are listening.
spk_0 But I just got back last night and I, I swear to God, I weighed
spk_0 about one, seven, nine, one, eight, when I left, I weighed one, 65,
spk_0 165 pounds.
spk_0 So you lost 15 pounds while you were in, yeah, well,
spk_0 if you lost it and you're looking for it, I can tell you where to find it.
spk_0 How long will it take to get it back?
spk_0 I swear to God for breakfast.
spk_0 I just had a bowl of pasta and two pieces of cake.
spk_0 Because it was Scottie's birthday yesterday.
spk_0 You got a big race tomorrow or something?
spk_0 Wait, wait, it's 9.30 in the morning right now.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 You've already had, but to him, it's dendent time.
spk_0 A bowl of pasta and two pieces of cake.
spk_0 His belly is saying feed me.
spk_0 It's dinner time.
spk_0 That's right. That's exactly right.
spk_0 Yeah, it was, but yeah, no, I got, I got back yesterday at like, uh,
spk_0 one in the afternoon and I went to bed at eight p.m.
spk_0 And I got up at one a.m.
spk_0 And then went back to bed.
spk_0 I got up at seven.
spk_0 So I said like 12 hours.
spk_0 Yeah, you need it.
spk_0 Crazy.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 And did you have to clean the CPAP machine in between?
spk_0 You're not, you're on, you're still on that, are you not?
spk_0 No, I lost.
spk_0 I lost the weight, so I don't need it.
spk_0 You're way truly truly.
spk_0 It was the weight that was, well, it's a combination of things.
spk_0 I try not to sleep on my back too, but yeah.
spk_0 Okay.
spk_0 And you, you have like nails on your back or something,
spk_0 so that if you roll on your back, it pokes you away.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0
spk_0 Because strap on some sort of like a nail bed.
spk_0 People used to do that.
spk_0 They like, uh, they put like a tennis ball.
spk_0 They'd rep like the tennis ball on their backs.
spk_0 No, they didn't.
spk_0 What are you talking about?
spk_0 What do you mean they didn't, they?
spk_0 Look it up.
spk_0 Oh, redo the research.
spk_0 What do we wrap up?
spk_0 Go, wait, keep going.
spk_0 Do the research.
spk_0 What do you mean?
spk_0 I love research.
spk_0 Tennis ball.
spk_0 People go, I did the research.
spk_0 I did the research.
spk_0 What do you mean?
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Oh, you have access to Google.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Wait, what website told you that people used to strap a tennis ball
spk_0 to the smaller back?
spk_0 Uh, I read that a long time ago.
spk_0 Wait, to do what?
spk_0 To do what?
spk_0 I don't know.
spk_0 Somehow, like put a tennis ball on the, on the,
spk_0 I forget how they do it like a bench.
spk_0 And it sure depends on whatever.
spk_0 So that if they roll onto their back,
spk_0 it's uncomfortable and then they want to roll back.
spk_0 Or it's gentle.
spk_0 They do it with like duct tape or something like that?
spk_0 I get it.
spk_0 We're like a tensor bandage or something.
spk_0 I don't know.
spk_0 Don't say fucking tensor.
spk_0 Ever in the app.
spk_0 You know, I think.
spk_0 Your dumb lips.
spk_0 Tensers.
spk_0 Tensers.
spk_0
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Stupid.
spk_0 Stop flushing your brains.
spk_0 I'm not.
spk_0 You guys.
spk_0 I was doing this morning.
spk_0 I was doing it.
spk_0
spk_0 We are professional great.
spk_0 The river doesn't damn itself.
spk_0 This country wasn't built in a day.
spk_0 Not a week either.
spk_0 Okay.
spk_0 You do Santa Claus too, will right?
spk_0 You play Santa Claus.
spk_0 No, it's Batman.
spk_0 Oh, Batman.
spk_0 Batman Santa Claus.
spk_0 Hey, Sean, we got to get you a nice campaign.
spk_0 What would you like to?
spk_0 That's a great place.
spk_0 What would you do?
spk_0 Slings, sling commercials for.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Uh, is cake is cake a thing?
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 General cake spots.
spk_0 All cake products.
spk_0 The cake makers of America.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Sean, would you like to go to a cake convention?
spk_0 Would that suit like we would?
spk_0 Would that be fun?
spk_0 Wouldn't that be great?
spk_0 How was the reintroduction to your dog?
spk_0 Did he give you any addictions?
spk_0 He comes back today in about three hours.
spk_0 Still haven't seen him.
spk_0 How long has it been?
spk_0 Three months.
spk_0 Wow.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Do you think he's going to give you a little bit of a
spk_0 hairy eyeball?
spk_0 He, like, welcome back.
spk_0 Side eye.
spk_0 No, he, um, will...
spk_0 We poop in the bed.
spk_0 No, he will.
spk_0 I'll do that.
spk_0 No, he'll, um...
spk_0 Oh, Sean, still?
spk_0 Welcome home.
spk_0 No, he, he'll go, wow, it's you.
spk_0 And then run and just play and then want to treat.
spk_0 What?
spk_0 Sounds like Scotty.
spk_0 Listen, Sean, we're so happy to have you back in the fold.
spk_0 We received the other night.
spk_0 We talked about it all the time.
spk_0
spk_0 I know.
spk_0 Are we all hanging out this Sunday?
spk_0 Uh, yeah.
spk_0 What if you guys, like, no, sorry, that was it.
spk_0 Last Sunday was it.
spk_0 We are Sunday.
spk_0 Um, but in the meantime, Hollywood Bowl.
spk_0 Oh, well, by the way, sorry, we are going to the Hollywood Bowl.
spk_0 Oh, we are going to the Hollywood Bowl.
spk_0 November 15th.
spk_0 November 15th.
spk_0 Hollywood Bowl.
spk_0 We got a couple of guests.
spk_0 We got a couple of things.
spk_0 I got a super big guest.
spk_0 Will, you put a brand new one on your guest.
spk_0 Yeah, I'm going to bring the noise.
spk_0 It's going to be a lot of fun.
spk_0 We're also going to have some special guests as well.
spk_0 It's going to be a lot of fun.
spk_0 And uh...
spk_0 Special guest sprinkled around.
spk_0 Oh, yeah, we're going to have, we're going to have a lot of...
spk_0 Am I going to be told about the special guests?
spk_0 Or they're going to be...
spk_0 You've already been told.
spk_0 We've talked about it before.
spk_0 I mean, you just don't listen.
spk_0 But anyway...
spk_0 Tell me your name one more time.
spk_0 Oh, God.
spk_0 I'm sorry.
spk_0 Unless I put it in the context of golf, he doesn't hear it.
spk_0 Jason, we already talked about it.
spk_0 We did.
spk_0 Yeah, I know we already talked about it.
spk_0 But remember...
spk_0 Okay.
spk_0 We're going to welcome our guest.
spk_0 Is this someone that's going to make me nervous?
spk_0 It's really...
spk_0 Well, I get nervous about you.
spk_0 You know this person and you're going to be nervous about it
spk_0 because she's like a...
spk_0 She's a super wattage mega-tank.
spk_0 But I've had the pleasure of meeting this person a few times
spk_0 and I'm always the little star-struck I got to admit.
spk_0 You only meet someone once.
spk_0 She was nominated for her first Golden Globe when she was 12.
spk_0 Okay, this is...
spk_0
spk_0 And has kept it going ever since.
spk_0 She's been in countless fantastic movies.
spk_0 Once you start naming him, it's like her get it.
spk_0 I don't think she's...
spk_0 You do not know this.
spk_0 It's not Jodie Foster.
spk_0 She's been in...
spk_0 I don't even know.
spk_0 I can't even...
spk_0 But her first nomination was for interview with a very...
spk_0 Early Temple.
spk_0 Her first nomination was for interview with a very...
spk_0 She's just got...
spk_0 Jill Mangy dropped a gorgeous Spider-Man movie
spk_0 similar last year.
spk_0 Roof Man, October 10th.
spk_0 This is Gilles Yester.
spk_0 Hey!
spk_0 Hi, fucking guest!
spk_0 By the way, that's the first time I think I've ever...
spk_0 By the way, I got him the award nominee.
spk_0 You didn't even let me get to the...
spk_0 Sorry, sorry.
spk_0 So, Roger, you robbed her of that.
spk_0 Hi, Kyrsten Dunst.
spk_0 Hi, I'm so happy to be on this show.
spk_0 Hi, I know.
spk_0 Does anyone call you KD?
spk_0 Yes.
spk_0 Really?
spk_0 Yes, I'm a lot of names.
spk_0 Well, listen here.
spk_0 Listen here, KD.
spk_0 Yeah, wow.
spk_0 You're never going to work for the government
spk_0 because so I'm in Toronto
spk_0 and I'm walking by her table, you guys.
spk_0 And up she pops,
spk_0 Hey, I'm about to be on your show.
spk_0 I'm like,
spk_0 Hey!
spk_0 That's supposed to be a secret.
spk_0 Secret.
spk_0 So your government job is done.
spk_0 That's a lie.
spk_0
spk_0 But I was like, okay, I'll play like I'll play like a big surprise.
spk_0 But you never know.
spk_0 You didn't know it.
spk_0 Because I never know when.
spk_0 You never know when.
spk_0 You never know when it's going to happen.
spk_0 That's the good news.
spk_0 And you guys were up at TIFF
spk_0 because you were up there promoting Black Rabbit
spk_0 and Kyrsten Rubin.
spk_0
spk_0 Promoting Ruth Man, which I'm really excited.
spk_0 The following day and it was killer.
spk_0 I hear it's out of these.
spk_0 I can't wait to see that movie.
spk_0 It's so good.
spk_0 It's like a perfect like Christmas movie.
spk_0 I love it.
spk_0 Love it. Love it. Love it.
spk_0 I can't wait to see it.
spk_0 And we're all very excited for it.
spk_0 And we're really excited that you're here.
spk_0 It feels like finally a little bit.
spk_0 Good maker.
spk_0 Yeah, it is.
spk_0 It's like, where are you?
spk_0 Where is this?
spk_0 I'm into Luke Olake.
spk_0 Oh wow, you're in the back.
spk_0 I'll make you fall.
spk_0 Will and I are about to shank a couple of balls
spk_0 in your backyard.
spk_0 We are about to be there very in a couple of hours.
spk_0 But there's probably a better way to say that.
spk_0 Yeah, don't worry.
spk_0 We'll scrub it.
spk_0 So you were supposed to be on here a couple of years ago
spk_0 for Civil War.
spk_0 And I forget what happened.
spk_0 It was a schedule thing.
spk_0 But what?
spk_0 What have you were sick?
spk_0 Yeah, for sure.
spk_0 Yeah, yeah, yeah.
spk_0 Oh, yeah, for sure.
spk_0 JB was badly.
spk_0 Wait, I love you were so great in that movie.
spk_0 That movie was really.
spk_0 I know.
spk_0 I love Civil War.
spk_0 It was so good.
spk_0 I know.
spk_0 I need to see that.
spk_0 I'm scared to see that.
spk_0 I feel like it's probably super good, super accurate.
spk_0 It's like the same reason.
spk_0 You know that movie United 93 that Paul Greengrass.
spk_0 Yeah, sure.
spk_0 I'll never see that because what I hear is that it's it's just too good.
spk_0 It puts you on a plane that's plummeting from the sky for two and a half minutes.
spk_0 I did that movie that's coming out next year on a plane.
spk_0 No, what is it called?
spk_0 Really?
spk_0 The entertainment system is down.
spk_0 Oh, yes.
spk_0 Wait, what is that about?
spk_0 That's the guy who did Triangle of Sadness.
spk_0 Yes, and who is Mr. Ruben Osslin, just Naivez?
spk_0 Ruben Osslin, you're in a Ruben Osslin film.
spk_0 Yeah, that's like that was.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 You and your hobby are just in about every great movie you ever want to be in.
spk_0 I know.
spk_0 I know.
spk_0 And your husband, Jesse, Paul Minz, who's also a wonderful guy,
spk_0 I had a pleasure meeting both of you last year or something.
spk_0 Just sweet, sweet, super talent.
spk_0 And so you did that movie.
spk_0 The entertainment system is down, which I just read about, which looks awesome.
spk_0 What is that?
spk_0 Like satellites go out or something?
spk_0
spk_0 Wow.
spk_0 What does that sound less perturbed about it?
spk_0 No, no, I want to know because it sounds cool.
spk_0 What did it like?
spk_0 This satellite, I don't know.
spk_0 Dude, do I still get emails and stuff like that?
spk_0 I still do candy crush words.
spk_0 By the way, that's real.
spk_0 That's all I do.
spk_0 Like, you don't have to, I know we're talking about some other movie,
spk_0 but tell me what that that one's about just like briefly,
spk_0 because I want, I love sci-fi.
spk_0 So you want to prepare?
spk_0 It's not sci-fi.
spk_0 Oh, yeah, but I mean like, doomsday stuff.
spk_0 Well, it's human doomsday basically on a plane.
spk_0 Yeah, it's human doomsday stuff.
spk_0 So it's called the entertainment system is down because there's no wi-fi, there's nothing.
spk_0 Right, right.
spk_0 So you have to deal with each other.
spk_0 Okay, that's what I want to see.
spk_0 I want to show you.
spk_0 It's like, it's like, you know, like the bar, you know, the bar on Tatooine in Star Wars.
spk_0 Oh, got it.
spk_0 I'm on board.
spk_0 I'm on board.
spk_0 Okay, sorry.
spk_0 I just wanted to put it in a context that he could have.
spk_0 So, Kira, walk us through a little bit.
spk_0 How you, I mentioned that you got your first big award nomination.
spk_0 It was for Golden Globe when you were 12 years old.
spk_0 How trippy was that?
spk_0 I mean, for a 12 year old.
spk_0 I don't think I really realized like, you know what?
spk_0 I was working on Jumanji and everyone's like, you're going to win.
spk_0 You're going to win.
spk_0 And so don't tell a little girl that because I didn't win.
spk_0 Yeah, oh.
spk_0 And then I was crying on, I, Jane Seymour was next to me.
spk_0 Like for Dr. Quinn medicine woman.
spk_0 And I was just like crying
spk_0 under the table pretty much on the, at the table on NBC.
spk_0 Yes.
spk_0 Kind of all the, and everyone's all banged up on champagne.
spk_0 There's a little girl that are looking for someone to hold.
spk_0 Wow.
spk_0 Did you have a speech all lined up and everything?
spk_0 I, I don't remember if I did, but.
spk_0 But hey, better to, better to kind of learn that at a young age that you know,
spk_0 you can't trust the outcome of stuff, you know.
spk_0 Yeah, I was going to say did it help kind of right size all of that stuff eventually?
spk_0 You know, it's like award stuff doesn't like, you know, we all know it's like the good stuff we
spk_0 all love usually doesn't get nominated or doesn't win.
spk_0 It's like, so really all you have is the experience of making it.
spk_0 That's all you have.
spk_0 Right.
spk_0 Really, it's also so odd, isn't it that like,
spk_0 people, you're not like the competition of it all.
spk_0 No one's playing the same character.
spk_0 It's like, you know, 100 yard dash, you know,
spk_0 everyone's going the same right.
spk_0 This instance who gets here quicker.
spk_0 It's pretty clear.
spk_0 I had to audition for the movie on the plane for the entertainment system is down.
spk_0 Are you in?
spk_0 Yes, and that feeling I hadn't been that excited to get a role since interview with the vampire.
spk_0 Wow.
spk_0 So like to me auditioning and getting something is like that is.
spk_0 That's the one.
spk_0 When was the last time you auditioned before the Ruben Osslin thing?
spk_0 I auditioned for this movie with Jeff Nichols, the director of Jeff Nichols,
spk_0 called Midnight Special.
spk_0 It was great.
spk_0 The great Jeff Nichols.
spk_0 That was a great movie Midnight Special.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Love that movie.
spk_0 So but wait, so that was like 10 years ago.
spk_0 Yeah, it had been a minute.
spk_0
spk_0 I don't think yeah, that was the last time.
spk_0 Oh my god, were you nervous auditioning again?
spk_0 Well, I did a self tape.
spk_0 I just hold on myself.
spk_0 Yeah, it is easier.
spk_0 The new world.
spk_0 It was all improv.
spk_0 He gave me an improv and yeah, I just, you know, put my iPhone,
spk_0 I just taped it on my iPhone and pretend it.
spk_0 Yeah, and if you socked, you just get to do it again.
spk_0 Yeah, I did two takes.
spk_0 I felt I was like and I didn't watch it and I just sent it.
spk_0 Did you ask Jesse to look at it?
spk_0 No, he was away.
spk_0 So no, you were just all by yourself.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 No way.
spk_0 And what, so what do you think he was looking for?
spk_0 Like do you mind saying what the, what the problem was?
spk_0 No, no, my improv was a two people are sitting bored next to each other on a plane.
spk_0 He's asleep with our son.
spk_0 And I am bored and look at his phone.
spk_0 And I discover that he's been cheating on me.
spk_0 So it's like, you know, hanging out on the plane, bored,
spk_0 do the whole like face recognition thing.
spk_0 Right.
spk_0 And wait, not so that's all your, that's all your idea.
spk_0 No, no, this is all he wanted me to do this vibe basically.
spk_0 They're direct.
spk_0 And so then I see a memory comes up on the iPhone that is like to caught an eye Joe.
spk_0 That song.
spk_0 And it's supposed to be like him cheating with a bunch of people.
spk_0 Where did you come from?
spk_0 Where did you go?
spk_0 Exactly.
spk_0 Sure.
spk_0 So then I see that he's been cheating on me and I wake him up.
spk_0 But first I have to go through all the emotions.
spk_0 And since there was no one else in the improv with you, as soon as you wake him up and you
spk_0 start to confront him, it's over.
spk_0 It's over.
spk_0 I was like, you need to wake up.
spk_0 And then I just got pissed and I got up and shut off my phone.
spk_0 I love it.
spk_0 I would have.
spk_0 I mean, it's wild to do a self tape of an improv by yourself.
spk_0 I know.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 That's that's so weird.
spk_0 I did put Jesse's camera like that because he's always shooting film of our family.
spk_0 So I put his camera nearby.
spk_0 So I had like a, I don't know, a symbol.
spk_0 This is real act right now.
spk_0 Of him of something.
spk_0 Right.
spk_0
spk_0
spk_0
spk_0 How long have you guys been married?
spk_0 Oh God.
spk_0 I don't even know.
spk_0 We think you have her for about 10 years.
spk_0 We got married after kids.
spk_0 I three years maybe.
spk_0 Oh, okay.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 That's great.
spk_0 Wait, talk a little bit a little bit about.
spk_0 So doing that audition for that movie by yourself, the nightmare self tape improv, which
spk_0 is bizarre.
spk_0 But it probably been a minute since you said you audition for another film.
spk_0 But but how different was when you first started auditioning when you were a kid,
spk_0 basically.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 And JB, you have that experience too auditioning a lot when you were a kid, right?
spk_0 Yeah, yeah.
spk_0 And what that and what that process was like back then, what it meant to you back then,
spk_0 did you feel were the stakes higher?
spk_0 Was it just kind of like after school, go do it and then go do your thing?
spk_0 Yeah, what yeah, what is that like?
spk_0 Do you put it?
spk_0 Do you put a big thing on it?
spk_0 What do you think, Harrison?
spk_0 I did.
spk_0 I did because we'll like, okay, for we read the Oakwood Apartments.
spk_0 Oh my God.
spk_0 I was going to normal schools.
spk_0 For my sister Oakwood Apart for Tracy, Oakwood Apartments is a complex where a lot of actors would stay
spk_0 while they're just because you can rent it monthly.
spk_0 Yes.
spk_0 And come out for a pile of season, a bunch of years in Rome stayed there.
spk_0 Same.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Oh, same.
spk_0 Okay.
spk_0 Where were you coming from?
spk_0 I'm from New Jersey.
spk_0 Okay.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 All right.
spk_0 You guys could have called me.
spk_0 Yeah, so we would come out.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 We probably could remember you said that sign on the when you left the back,
spk_0 the one on bar room, right?
spk_0 Yeah, yeah.
spk_0 So and the back gate one had a, as you were waiting for the gate to open,
spk_0 there was a little sign on the gate as it moved it said, smile at showtime.
spk_0 Oh God, I don't remember.
spk_0 And I remember thinking like, how soon do you want me to take my own life?
spk_0 I don't know.
spk_0 So the president not going any jobs.
spk_0 I don't get them.
spk_0 Oh God.
spk_0 Anyway, so you come out your, so you're your Oakwood.
spk_0 You're your Oakwood with your, my mom, my brother and my grandma.
spk_0 Wow.
spk_0 But I would go to normal school.
spk_0 I went to Laurel Hall in the valley.
spk_0 Sure.
spk_0 Where I met my best friend.
spk_0 Okay.
spk_0 So I had like a normal ish life because I never was home-tutor or anything.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Um, but yeah, auditioning was, when it was a big role, like I remember this,
spk_0 it was like I auditioned for an interview with the vampire audition for the
spk_0 Seeker Garden and I didn't get the Seeker Garden.
spk_0 And I remember sobbing about that.
spk_0 Wow.
spk_0 Wow.
spk_0 But it was it, did it get more stressful as you got older?
spk_0 No, because I think because I got success from interview, I didn't have to audition
spk_0 for a long time.
spk_0 Like I auditioned for a little women, but it wasn't frequent enough to traumatize me.
spk_0 I auditioned for Spider-Man was the big next one that I auditioned for.
spk_0 Uh-huh.
spk_0 Did you get it?
spk_0 I did.
spk_0 Sure.
spk_0 So he's jet lagged for a guess that he's just cheeky.
spk_0 Even though he's not an angel anymore, he's still cheeky.
spk_0 Um, JB, did you ever, did you ever, I mean, this honestly, did you ever sob or have that
spk_0 thing that pressure?
spk_0 I remember you talking about the pressure of getting a job because it was the family
spk_0 business.
spk_0 I never cried, but what was worse was that I'd be so paralyzed with fear on the way to
spk_0 auditions when I got to be in my 20s because I need, I literally, I needed the employment.
spk_0 I need, you know, it wasn't just like fun when I was like a little kid and I get to
spk_0 skip school and all that stuff.
spk_0 And then it became like, you know, well, this is, this is how this is my occupation.
spk_0 It's how I did.
spk_0 Did you support your family, Jason?
spk_0 I contributed for sure.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Did you, Kierzen?
spk_0 I didn't have to.
spk_0 It started out as like, ah, fun, college money, whatever.
spk_0 And then my parents got divorced and then it was a little like, well, you're making the
spk_0 most money.
spk_0 So my mom lives in my backhouse, okay?
spk_0 Oh, that's sweet.
spk_0 Yeah, I'm a good daughter.
spk_0 That's good.
spk_0 Yeah, that is sweet.
spk_0 Yeah, I love that.
spk_0 Very, very cute.
spk_0 So we'll be right back.
spk_0 And now back to the show.
spk_0 All right.
spk_0 So you're into lookalike.
spk_0 What's going on is, is Jesse in town or you, ah, you guys must take, take turns single
spk_0 parents.
spk_0 I was going to get into that.
spk_0 Yeah, it's tough.
spk_0 Yeah, it's so hard.
spk_0 I had a real moment last night.
spk_0 I just went to my friend's house.
spk_0 I was like, I can't parent alone tonight.
spk_0 I just can't do it.
spk_0 Just leave a bunch of milk and crackers out and.
spk_0 Well, I took them with me.
spk_0 Oh, gotcha.
spk_0 No, no, no, I just brought them home.
spk_0 What do you think she's doing over there?
spk_0 That's how I grew up.
spk_0 Wait, how many kids, how many kids and how old?
spk_0 I have two boys, but like literally I'm getting ready for this and I get this sign.
spk_0 I need you.
spk_0 Oh, him sad.
spk_0 Me with the door shut.
spk_0 Oh, look at that drawing.
spk_0 That's so funny.
spk_0 Sean's dog drew a similar picture.
spk_0 Wait, did he make that just so, so listener?
spk_0 This is a picture of Kirsten inside one room with the door closed and then her son on
spk_0 the outside upset upset.
spk_0 And so did he slide that under the door?
spk_0 Yes.
spk_0 No, I'm out.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 No.
spk_0 And I am, I let them sleep in bed with B when Jess, Jessy's not here.
spk_0 Like I am like, actually, you know who we watch.
spk_0 Well, is the Lego master show.
spk_0 Nice.
spk_0 I'll put you right out, right?
spk_0 Yeah, no, I guess.
spk_0 That's like, yeah.
spk_0 It's like a sugar crash.
spk_0 It's calming.
spk_0 It's a fun thing to watch with kids, isn't it?
spk_0 It's a very fun family show.
spk_0 So are you guys all, so one of you is pretty much, is it safe to say always working and that's
spk_0 why you have to just, we have the summer together.
spk_0 No, we had the summer together.
spk_0 It's like whoever's up next, like whatever happened, like we're still trying to figure
spk_0 it out, you know?
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 But I mean, it's really hard.
spk_0
spk_0 It's really hard.
spk_0 So, yeah.
spk_0 They're to me, they're four and seven.
spk_0 So it's like, and they're two boys.
spk_0 It's a lot.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 It's a lot.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 I've been there, been there and done that.
spk_0 Have you thought about it?
spk_0 And you can shut us up anytime we're getting to personal.
spk_0 Have you thought about the, the sort of the convent, the possible.
spk_0 I didn't know that was an option.
spk_0 Fucking shut up.
spk_0 This is the fucking greatest thing I'm not gonna.
spk_0 Shut the fuck up.
spk_0 Shut the fuck up.
spk_0 I've got the possible convenience of homeschooling.
spk_0 You know, you guys just, just, just, just, just, I want my kids to be weird.
spk_0 I know.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Exactly.
spk_0 I'm with you.
spk_0 They need that social interaction probably, right?
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 No.
spk_0 I know plenty of parents that have done it successfully.
spk_0 So who, who are we to judge?
spk_0 But it, I definitely benefited from getting getting away from adults and into school and being
spk_0 with kids when I wasn't working.
spk_0 It was cool.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 And they were just, you pick up the great thing that news was the bus that picked you up
spk_0 was the school.
spk_0
spk_0 Turns out Jason went to school and a bus and he didn't drop out of high school.
spk_0 He was dropped off from high school.
spk_0 It is true.
spk_0 It's gonna be a fun chapter in the book one day.
spk_0 Oh, God.
spk_0 Oh, my gosh.
spk_0 Don't cry, don't be crying.
spk_0 Don't cry, don't be crying.
spk_0 I'm not crying.
spk_0 You're crying.
spk_0 So you, but so, and you kind of mentioned you didn't really have to audition anymore again.
spk_0 You did, you kind of did for little women, but then you just started doing it and you
spk_0 mentioned you get nominated.
spk_0 I guess when you're doing Jumanji, which was a huge, massive.
spk_0 Yeah, I'm happy.
spk_0 And you just, you kind of went on this run of like just being in these big, massive movies
spk_0 and you're young.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 So you're like, oh, well, this is my reality.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 It wasn't though.
spk_0 Like I was almost embarrassed.
spk_0 Really?
spk_0 Really?
spk_0 I think so.
spk_0 And I didn't really, I like had a blocker up.
spk_0 I think that didn't compute what I was doing.
spk_0 Plus, what am I doing?
spk_0 I'm going to school.
spk_0 I have my best friend.
spk_0 We're in our own world.
spk_0 Like I really lived in a very little like school bubble, you know?
spk_0 So I would do my thing in that.
spk_0 I know, but didn't it get, but didn't it get weird like on the weekends and you go to
spk_0 your school parties and all the kids at the party and you're just trying to, you just
spk_0 feel like you're just one of the kids at the weekend party.
spk_0 And then like, oh, hey, I, that's that girl from the movie I saw last week.
spk_0 Like, didn't you?
spk_0 Wasn't that to me?
spk_0 No.
spk_0 Really?
spk_0 Come on.
spk_0 You were pretty famous though.
spk_0 Yeah, but I don't know.
spk_0 They didn't do that to me at school.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Maybe it was like a, I was very normal.
spk_0 I didn't come into school like, hey, look at me.
spk_0 You know, I was, I was embarrassed.
spk_0 Right.
spk_0 Yeah, like, like, talk to me about that.
spk_0 What do you mean embarrassed?
spk_0 Like, embarrassed because of the attention that you got that, that was a, a byproduct of
spk_0 the movie that you weren't looking for?
spk_0 I think I just didn't want to be singled out at school as anything other than another
spk_0 student there.
spk_0 Uh-huh.
spk_0 And high school too.
spk_0 Like, I didn't want anyone to call me out or be like, so I underplayed myself.
spk_0 Were you already through high school when you did bring it on?
spk_0 It was senior year, the summer before senior year.
spk_0 I love that.
spk_0 Like the ultimate, like the ultimate cheerleading like high school movie too, all the time.
spk_0
spk_0 And we're people.
spk_0 But we didn't know that at the time.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 It was like a little San Diego who cares movie, the universal, you know, it wasn't like
spk_0 no one knew that that was the thing.
spk_0 Do you still remember some of the cheers?
spk_0 You know I do.
spk_0 Do you do it sometimes?
spk_0 Do you do it sometimes?
spk_0 Do you ever do it sometimes ironically on set when it's trying to ramp up the crew
spk_0 in the past?
spk_0 I do it sometimes.
spk_0 I would shoot and it's time to keep going.
spk_0 Ready, okay.
spk_0 Five, five.
spk_0 I did it for my sons yesterday because we went to this 25th anniversary.
spk_0 Well, we went to this 25th anniversary, bring it on thing on Sunday night.
spk_0 No way.
spk_0 And they had good pop-ups.
spk_0 So I brought some pop-ups home and I was like doing cheers for them.
spk_0 No.
spk_0 Spelling their names.
spk_0 That's the only show that's those are the only people that are good to get that.
spk_0 Did they like it?
spk_0 Yes.
spk_0 My son was like looking at me like I was like, whoa.
spk_0 Like a golden goddess.
spk_0 I didn't know you could do this mom.
spk_0 You don't want him to like it too much.
spk_0 Cheers squad.
spk_0 Yeah, I actually a mom recruited me to start a cheer squad at the school.
spk_0 Really?
spk_0 Oh wow.
spk_0 Yes, yes.
spk_0 Oh, I'm going to do it.
spk_0 I'll do it.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 I love that you're going to do that.
spk_0 I do love that show.
spk_0 That show cheer on the school.
spk_0
spk_0
spk_0 That's really good.
spk_0 Dark.
spk_0 I know.
spk_0 I know.
spk_0 Is it dark?
spk_0 What is it?
spk_0 I got dark.
spk_0 I got arrested for bad things.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Wait, I didn't see that one.
spk_0 Well, look at that.
spk_0 That happened on the show or away from it.
spk_0 Off the show.
spk_0 Off the show.
spk_0 Oh, yeah.
spk_0 Wait, Sean, did you ever experiment with cheer squad?
spk_0 No, but my sister was a cheer squad.
spk_0 What was your sister's name?
spk_0 Her name is Tracy.
spk_0 Oh, god.
spk_0 And she.
spk_0 With an EY or is it just one?
spk_0
spk_0 In the EY, yeah.
spk_0 And she.
spk_0 Or she lives with Wisconsin.
spk_0 Does she know much about the biz?
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 No.
spk_0 Do you have to explain stuff to her ever?
spk_0 Yeah, anytime you guys continue to have it.
spk_0 Just make sure you continue.
spk_0
spk_0 And so she would have, she wouldn't do cheerleading things.
spk_0 And she would do pommas and she would do batons.
spk_0 Oh, wait.
spk_0 Do I have the photo?
spk_0 No.
spk_0 I thought you were going to go.
spk_0 But there's a picture of me and her.
spk_0 And I was like, I'm so excited.
spk_0 So I learned how to do the baton at a young age.
spk_0 What is the little thing, the dude in front of the band,
spk_0 the marching band?
spk_0 It's not stick.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 So it's got a, it's got a pointy stick.
spk_0 And then a little ball at the top.
spk_0 Is that also a baton or just a, like a band leader stick?
spk_0 Or staff.
spk_0 Or staff.
spk_0
spk_0 Something like that.
spk_0 Anyway, Kirsten.
spk_0 So.
spk_0 I'm happy chilling.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 I love it.
spk_0 I love it.
spk_0 I love it.
spk_0 Wait.
spk_0 So tell me, wait.
spk_0 I've, I've, you, because like Will said,
spk_0 you've done so many gigantic movies.
spk_0 Is there, I know you don't want to, they're all important to you.
spk_0 And all of your work is important.
spk_0 But there are different, like sort of different styles.
spk_0 Like you, you really passed around.
spk_0 You can't be pegged to one thing.
spk_0 Like you've, you've had these, like, it almost feels like different phase.
spk_0 Well, they're just different roles.
spk_0 I guess that's what it is.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 But is there a one where you're just like, you know what?
spk_0 That was the greatest experience of my whole career so far.
spk_0 And.
spk_0 And you just thought like it, there's no way you can get better than that.
spk_0 No, it's not necessarily.
spk_0 No, yeah, yeah.
spk_0 No, yeah, no, the experience.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0
spk_0 Ha, I don't know, because like movies aren't fun to make, you know what I mean?
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0
spk_0 Right.
spk_0 So, but God, I, I feel like.
spk_0 He'll take the, he'll take the worst experience.
spk_0 I, I liked making Melancholia.
spk_0 Oh, yeah.
spk_0 I don't, it was like, it was like this little isolated.
spk_0 It felt like we were doing a play.
spk_0 We all lived in this small town and sweeten and this hotel slash housing place.
spk_0 And it was, it was just like cozy and really calm.
spk_0
spk_0 And so I, when I went like comfort, I don't know, it was just, I just felt like, oh, this is what it could be like.
spk_0 Lars want to try her?
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 And now they have a fam.
spk_0 Go ahead.
spk_0 Well, I, I'm going to ask a dumb question.
spk_0 Surprise.
spk_0 When you, I'm not sure about going to sweeten.
spk_0 Going away.
spk_0 Okay.
spk_0 Why?
spk_0 Because of the light.
spk_0 I feel like I'm getting very sad because if I, if I'm there during the time of the year, when the sun only comes up for a couple of hours, I'm going to feel like I'm there.
spk_0 You go winter.
spk_0 You called the go winter.
spk_0 Is it winter?
spk_0 I'm sure I can do it.
spk_0 No, it's very, we were there in the summer.
spk_0 So we had a beautiful, sweetest summer.
spk_0 Almost worse, right?
spk_0 Because there's because the sun never goes down.
spk_0 It did.
spk_0 I feel like I was going to be there.
spk_0 I went one time, I went one time early July and I flew from here and I landed there and I had crazy jet lag and then woke up at 4 a.m.
spk_0 For a phone call came through and it was, and I step outside and it's blaring sun and it's like 5 to 4 a.m.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 And it felt like it was noon and it was like, what the fuck?
spk_0 Where am I?
spk_0 It was so discombobulating.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 I mean, because of that, Kirsten and because you have a family now and Jesse works and it's this very artistic, you know, you're just around it all the time and the schedules.
spk_0 Do you still enjoy going to another country for 3, 4, 5, 6 months, whatever it is to work?
spk_0 I mean, does that, does experiences, do they still fill you up?
spk_0 Well, I didn't enjoy Budapest.
spk_0 Let's just put it that way.
spk_0 I really didn't.
spk_0 Well, our son, we all went as a family.
spk_0 We enrolled them in the international school there.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 And then my son had appendicitis and emergency surgery and then recovered for a week and then had a blockage.
spk_0 So basically, my time in Budapest was horrible.
spk_0 It was horrible.
spk_0 It was horrible.
spk_0 That's so young to have an appendicitis.
spk_0 I know.
spk_0 It's so hard.
spk_0 I know.
spk_0 I was like, everyone's like, drink the water there.
spk_0 So I was like, yeah, the water's great.
spk_0 So now I'm freaking out.
spk_0 Like, was it the water?
spk_0 I don't know.
spk_0 Wait, what movie was that on?
spk_0 That was on the airplane movie.
spk_0 Oh, you just did.
spk_0 Oh, no shit.
spk_0 No shit.
spk_0 No shit.
spk_0 So this first part, I mean, everyone's had a shit ear.
spk_0 It seems like.
spk_0 But like the first part of the first part of our ear was pretty sad.
spk_0 So, but to Sean's question, do you, are you a big nester?
spk_0 Like, what, like, now that you're back home, do you love just like not going anywhere?
spk_0 Yeah, I don't go anywhere.
spk_0 Yeah, I stay in my radius of school drop off and neighborhood restaurants.
spk_0 I don't, I don't know the valley.
spk_0 It's nice isn't going there to that Bob's big boy.
spk_0 You get in there.
spk_0 I know that food.
spk_0 I like the car nights, but I never want to eat there.
spk_0 I was a big boy at car nights.
spk_0 Sean, cool it, man.
spk_0
spk_0 Yeah, we're not going anywhere.
spk_0 Yeah, we're not going to be done with this for another 20 minutes.
spk_0 I was in London just yesterday actually.
spk_0 What's today Tuesday?
spk_0 Yeah, and I just finished it in my last show.
spk_0 I did a play there, Kirsten.
spk_0 And it was.
spk_0 Oh.
spk_0 Finally.
spk_0 A final good night.
spk_0 A final good night for the.
spk_0 And every Sunday we would go to five guys, right?
spk_0 The burger place.
spk_0 Yeah, yeah.
spk_0 And so will FaceTime me and Scotty on our walk to five guys.
spk_0 And he goes, where are you going?
spk_0 I go, he goes, you on your way to five guys to get a burger?
spk_0 I go, yeah, it was by the look of you both.
spk_0 You're going to walk out there.
spk_0 You're going to walk out there looking like 10 guys or so.
spk_0 We're like 10.
spk_0 Yeah, am I right?
spk_0 Am I right?
spk_0 Is this the stupid?
spk_0 But I love the, I love those old burger joints, like big, like Bob's big boy and stuff.
spk_0 And there's a lot of them in the valley, like old, like pizza places in the valley that are really great.
spk_0 I'm going to say something.
spk_0 There's chili johns too.
spk_0 Have you been to chili john?
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 At least there's a real relic.
spk_0 It's on.
spk_0 Or right across the street from Riverside and Coalwater.
spk_0 Is that the place?
spk_0 No, chili johns is on, is it Magnolia or Burbank?
spk_0 I think it's Burbank and it's very cool old school.
spk_0 Have you guys done Apple Pan?
spk_0 You must have done Apple.
spk_0 Yes, of course.
spk_0 But that's over the hill.
spk_0 Apple Pancer.
spk_0 That's a very critical.
spk_0 I'm going to say something kind of, there are burger places that everybody talks about that are only
spk_0 in the valley.
spk_0 I just think it really overrated.
spk_0 Like?
spk_0 Like.
spk_0 Well, I don't want to name it.
spk_0 I want to raise people's boats, but I'm not going to name people things that I don't like
spk_0
spk_0 That's super, super courageous.
spk_0 Well, I will say our friend on Sunday makes a burger.
spk_0 The best.
spk_0 Very much on par within an out.
spk_0 Oh my God.
spk_0 It is.
spk_0 I would say better.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 I would say better.
spk_0 I could be with you.
spk_0 I would say better.
spk_0 Wow.
spk_0 It's really delicious.
spk_0 Yeah, if you could, let's go around the horn here.
spk_0 If you could have only one classic junk food as your final meal, would it be like burger,
spk_0 would it be pizza, would it be grilled cheese?
spk_0 That's a great question.
spk_0 I will go first.
spk_0 I think it's going to be pizza and I'm going to have a side of well done fries.
spk_0 Okay.
spk_0 Okay.
spk_0 I would do.
spk_0 I probably, yeah.
spk_0 Yeah, you go.
spk_0 No, you go Sean.
spk_0 I was spaghetti.
spk_0 Okay.
spk_0 Really?
spk_0 That's not junk food.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Well, it's not.
spk_0 It's so Sean Hayes.
spk_0 I hate it.
spk_0 You know, this guy, can I have some ice cream?
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 What, Flare?
spk_0 Vanilla.
spk_0 That's it.
spk_0 And that's his goat.
spk_0 He loves it so much.
spk_0
spk_0 With the awesome.
spk_0 Mother's milk.
spk_0 It's mother's milk.
spk_0 Kirsten, what would you have?
spk_0 What would you be your ultimate junk food?
spk_0 Well, junk food.
spk_0 I mean, like comfort food.
spk_0 Yeah, yeah, yeah.
spk_0 I think I honestly, I might do in an out cheese burger with a chocolate shake.
spk_0 Just a single.
spk_0 Well, cheeseburger extra spread, no onions is my butt.
spk_0 So not the double, double?
spk_0 No.
spk_0 Extra spread, though.
spk_0 I like your style.
spk_0 You're not doing the spread on the side.
spk_0 No.
spk_0 You want to just slide it right on.
spk_0 Yes.
spk_0 Yeah, yeah.
spk_0 You got to eat it quick for the bun gets soggy.
spk_0 Yeah, that's why I turn the air conditioning off when I get takeout for home.
spk_0 I'm like, AC off.
spk_0 This should be better.
spk_0 We rolled up in the bag real tight.
spk_0 I hate when people come home with an open box of in and out.
spk_0 I do too.
spk_0 I do too.
spk_0 What's the point?
spk_0 I hate to take it back because you want to keep your burger hot.
spk_0 Yes.
spk_0 God, I love you.
spk_0 That is extra level really interesting.
spk_0 Yeah, I'm with you on that.
spk_0 Wait, can I go back to work for a second?
spk_0 No, wait, our net hasn't declared.
spk_0 Oh, yeah, sorry.
spk_0 I'd go pizza too.
spk_0 I go pizza and chocolate shake.
spk_0 And what kind of pizza is it?
spk_0 It would probably be just a, more than likely just a cheese pizza.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Maybe with some meat on it.
spk_0 It may sausage, sausage.
spk_0 Some nice meat.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 I was going to have a crispy, undercarriage as they say.
spk_0 Not necessarily black bottom.
spk_0 But I just got to have some crispy.
spk_0 When I see people eat pizza and put the crust to the side and they don't eat the crust,
spk_0 I'm like, what are you?
spk_0 Are you that fast?
spk_0 I mean, what are you doing?
spk_0 In college, I used to eat the pizza and then save the crust and dip it in peanut butter after.
spk_0 Oh, God, you shit, mate.
spk_0 Peanut butter?
spk_0 Yeah, because it's just a bad...
spk_0 I mean, ranch.
spk_0 Sean, I mean this with all respect.
spk_0 You fat fuck.
spk_0 Wait, I want to ask the board work stuff.
spk_0 It's Kyrsten Dott.
spk_0 No, I know.
spk_0 Me too.
spk_0 I want to ask something.
spk_0 I want to know, do you have any kind of routine things that you do before a shoot after a shoot
spk_0 during a shoot or something that you're consistent about?
spk_0 You know what?
spk_0 I'll just start a job.
spk_0 So this is how this is going to go.
spk_0 I'm going to make sure I do blank blank blank blank.
spk_0 Like practicing your faces or...
spk_0 In the mirror.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Anything I do.
spk_0 Are you big on research?
spk_0 Are you big on like getting and studying your character and figuring out what they have in their
spk_0 pockets and all that?
spk_0 I don't know.
spk_0 I don't know.
spk_0 I mean, they have a secret.
spk_0 My characters have a secret.
spk_0 I...
spk_0 What do I do?
spk_0 I do dream work.
spk_0 That's my main thing I do.
spk_0 Oh, yeah.
spk_0 What's that?
spk_0 I like that.
spk_0 What does dream work?
spk_0 I just say the first time.
spk_0 You did?
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Is that the company that was started by David Gaffin?
spk_0 Come on, Matt.
spk_0 Yes, you're on the right.
spk_0 No, no.
spk_0 Wait, Kirsten, what is true?
spk_0 I don't know what dream work is.
spk_0 So there's a couple acting coaches you can call them, but they're more than that.
spk_0 But my lady is someone who's done it.
spk_0 Her mom did it too.
spk_0 You basically ask your self questions and write yourself a note at night of what you
spk_0 want to find out about your character and then whatever you dream, you write it down and
spk_0 you discuss it with her and implement it into...
spk_0 Oh, that's cool.
spk_0 The script and...
spk_0 That's really cool.
spk_0 But regardless of whether the dream had anything to do with the question or your character,
spk_0 it's just whatever your dream scenario was.
spk_0 You kind of incorporated into your character's backstory.
spk_0 Well, you're writing yourself a specific note at night.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 So you're asking your unconscious to give you something that you can implement.
spk_0
spk_0 Gotcha.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 And then when you're done with the movie, you write yourself a note.
spk_0 I'm done with this character, blah, blah, blah, blah, and sign out.
spk_0 There's your routine.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 There's your thing that you do.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 That's pretty rad.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 That is pretty cool.
spk_0 We'll be right back.
spk_0 And now back to the show.
spk_0 Are you good at remembering lines?
spk_0 I'm getting worse.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 I'm so bad.
spk_0 It's coming for all of us.
spk_0 Really?
spk_0 I'm getting so bad that if I read a script and the person talks a lot, I'm like, I don't
spk_0 know if I can do this.
spk_0 So if somebody brought you a one woman show on Broadway?
spk_0 Hell no.
spk_0 Hell no.
spk_0 Hell no.
spk_0 No.
spk_0
spk_0
spk_0 Our buddy John Krasinski just did one.
spk_0 I he knocked me out.
spk_0 My god.
spk_0 That was that awesome.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Just fucking unreal.
spk_0 It looks like the umbilly credits done at a bunch of times.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 They're both men.
spk_0 See women, multiple times.
spk_0 No, no, Laura Lynn has done it a few times.
spk_0 She's nailed it.
spk_0 You can do it.
spk_0 Tell me.
spk_0 I don't know.
spk_0 It's weird to me.
spk_0 I don't like the idea of doing a play.
spk_0 It's a lot of work.
spk_0 Let's be honest.
spk_0 It's a lot of work.
spk_0 Great, Sean.
spk_0 I mean, Sean.
spk_0 I know.
spk_0 Sean just came off basically two and a half years of doing this play.
spk_0 Sounds so tiring to me.
spk_0 I did it over 200 times.
spk_0 Are you okay?
spk_0 You got to tell me out of it.
spk_0 Got to tell me.
spk_0
spk_0 I mean, at least you got the tone.
spk_0 I mean, I know what you mean.
spk_0 Here's a, it is, you know, you don't do it for the financial because theater doesn't pay.
spk_0
spk_0 But you do it because of a thing inside as an actor that you just wouldn't otherwise get the
spk_0 opportunity maybe or it's you get that character that you've always wanted to play out of you.
spk_0 So you're like, great.
spk_0 I did that.
spk_0 Now it's that's done.
spk_0 And now I can go do maybe another character.
spk_0 Do you ever think about the audience judging you though?
spk_0 Like, oh, that person's just coming to see the girl from Spider-Man.
spk_0 You know what I mean?
spk_0 Like I feel a little weird.
spk_0 The girl from Spider-Man.
spk_0 That's the name of the play.
spk_0 I just, I just, I don't know.
spk_0 It's just, baby, when I'm older, I'll like it.
spk_0 Listen, one of the only live things I did was center in live ones and I had the best time of my life.
spk_0 But I grew up watching that show, like literally one of the best times of my life.
spk_0 How, how was that experience?
spk_0 I, I had one of the best times of my life.
spk_0 No, but I mean, like it's specifically like what was the, what was, yeah.
spk_0 Well, I grew up watching the show as do my kids now.
spk_0 They'll call out people and be like, you know, will you put on the Bill Hater puppet sketch for me?
spk_0 You know, like I show them Chris Farley with the Colombian coffee, you know, the D.
spk_0 Kev Colombian coffee free.
spk_0 Well, I gotta see that.
spk_0 It's one of the funniest sketches ever.
spk_0 We used to call our youngest.
spk_0 He's, well, he's baby Chris Farley.
spk_0 But I don't know where I'm going with this.
spk_0 You were talking about the specifics of what you loved about the,
spk_0 Oh, yeah.
spk_0 So I was, when I was younger, I, I played data Carvey's grandchild when he was George Bush on the couch,
spk_0 like eating popcorn as an extra.
spk_0 And I was no way Victoria Victoria Jackson.
spk_0 Yeah, thank you.
spk_0 In one of her spoof commercials.
spk_0 So it's like such a legacy thing for my family.
spk_0 Yeah, he felt, yeah.
spk_0 Did they show that clip when you hosted?
spk_0 Yeah, they did.
spk_0 No way.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 And it's in the, when you walk like in the main hallway, when you get there,
spk_0 little me is in with Dana Carvey on the couch.
spk_0 It was, it was one of the, yeah, it was so, I loved it so much.
spk_0 I loved it.
spk_0 So yes.
spk_0 What do you do when you're, when you're not working on films and stuff and momming?
spk_0 You know, do you, what do you want, what do you love to do?
spk_0 What do you feel your time with?
spk_0 You're just like nothing shopping, walking around to Lucalaic?
spk_0 I, honestly, the other day I dropped the buff.
spk_0 I went to Pilates, I did do that.
spk_0 Okay.
spk_0 And then I just watched TV.
spk_0 I want to lay that and watch TV.
spk_0 That's all.
spk_0 I don't want to make it, I don't want to make a generalization here.
spk_0 A sexist, an organization.
spk_0 But you're gonna, but you're gonna, but I'm gonna, I'm, you know, I hear, this would be a
spk_0 good bailout.
spk_0 Somebody told me the other day that they noticed that I'll just talk about my own house.
spk_0 Amanda watches all of her TV in bed.
spk_0 I watched all of my TV on the couch.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 And I find that that is not uncommon.
spk_0 But I said that pretty, pretty well tonight.
spk_0 You were a very, really good job.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Why do you think, why do you think that is an uncommon thing?
spk_0 As, as it relates to gender, you mean?
spk_0 Okay.
spk_0 Sean said.
spk_0 No, I didn't know what to say.
spk_0 Or I just, or just, or just people are just like, peep some people like to watch TV in bed.
spk_0 I've tried to watch TV in bed and I get, I feel like I'm getting like bed sores.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 I feel like I'm able to shift around a lot.
spk_0 I always think the bed is for sleeping.
spk_0 And so that if I start watching something in bed, then it's going to mess with my sleep.
spk_0 Yeah, and it's not he can't sleep unless he, the TV's on.
spk_0 He can't really fall asleep unless the TV's on.
spk_0 Scottie can't.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 I don't know.
spk_0 I'm going to be right with you, hold on.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Do you fall asleep with a TV, do you fall asleep with a TV on?
spk_0 Kirsten?
spk_0 No.
spk_0 No.
spk_0 You got a TV in the bedroom, though.
spk_0 Hell yeah.
spk_0 Hell yeah.
spk_0 Some people don't.
spk_0 We got one.
spk_0 Is Jesse watch it?
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 To go to sleep?
spk_0 No, not to go to sleep just to enjoy.
spk_0 But what about, will you, because Amanda and I often fall asleep where she's watching her
spk_0 iPad and then I'm watching the TV, but she's got to have the fucking.
spk_0 I want to tell her to the chicken so that she can hear her iPad and not hear what I'm listening
spk_0 to on the TV, but it really only lasts about 10 minutes.
spk_0 That's all the couch.
spk_0 She's down in your room with you and she's on.
spk_0 No, no, this, this one I, when I eventually go upstairs and I get in bed, she's watching
spk_0 the TV on my bed.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 She's got the iPad already going.
spk_0 I got to bring her her headphones.
spk_0 She puts those on.
spk_0 And then I turn on the TV and let it rock me out.
spk_0 You guys should try something called talking to each other.
spk_0 Well, what are you talking about?
spk_0 Well, relating Jason, can I, let me come over and help your marriage.
spk_0 Let me, just give me 10 minutes to help your marriage.
spk_0 If there's somebody that, and that you dreamed of working with it, that you have with,
spk_0 because it seems like you've worked with all the great, like, great, great, great people.
spk_0 I mean, the one is Paul Thomas Anderson.
spk_0 I feel like that's, ever.
spk_0
spk_0 I want to hear that new movie is going to be a good thing.
spk_0 Yeah, look sick.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 But he did recommend me for mulling, mulling call.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Oh, we did.
spk_0 Oh, that's cool.
spk_0 Well, Jesse could put in a good word for you.
spk_0 He's worth them at least once.
spk_0 I mean, I have his phone number.
spk_0 He randomly emails me sometimes.
spk_0 So I have those saved.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Just start sending him just random headshots of you from over the years.
spk_0 He did.
spk_0 He called me once and he was like, I need to talk to you about something.
spk_0 And I was like, oh my god, like this.
spk_0 Good at that.
spk_0 And then we played phone tag forever.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 And then we finally got in touch.
spk_0 And he was like, asked me about what it was like working with this other actor.
spk_0 No.
spk_0 Cause he's thinking about giving them.
spk_0 I was like, you know how mean that was of you?
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 That was not cool to do that.
spk_0 I can't imagine the pressure.
spk_0 He must feel so much pressure like every actor that he ever talks to.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 They're just hitting on him.
spk_0 Is this my moment?
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0
spk_0 What can I do to make a good impression on him?
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 I know.
spk_0 Well, it'll come.
spk_0 Listen, it'll happen too.
spk_0 You can manifest anything.
spk_0 I mean, of course it's going to happen.
spk_0 Is that right?
spk_0 Well, what is the universe?
spk_0 By the way, it's true.
spk_0 Oh, you don't need to raise your eyebrows now.
spk_0 You want to fuck me up on this?
spk_0 You want to fucking fight me on this?
spk_0 Give me your pitch on Manus Festation.
spk_0 Put it out there.
spk_0 Put it out there.
spk_0 You're saying ask the universe.
spk_0 You know what's going to happen?
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 You know what I always say?
spk_0 Why not me?
spk_0 Why not me?
spk_0 Just let them, you know.
spk_0 I could let them.
spk_0 Malarack.
spk_0 Thank you.
spk_0 No, great.
spk_0 And we'll be right back.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 We've been doing this lately where we try to go through the commercial.
spk_0 Just like you throw the commercial.
spk_0 It will be right back.
spk_0 How did you, how did you even just see me?
spk_0 We met on Fargo, season two.
spk_0 Oh.
spk_0 Yep.
spk_0 And we, it's so funny.
spk_0 I remember seeing him at the airport, like us beating at LAX for the first time.
spk_0 So clearly, we just.
spk_0 He doesn't remember it that way.
spk_0 You say that it's almost like he doesn't remember it.
spk_0 No, no, I just like you don't often remember meeting the first meeting with someone you could
spk_0 picture it in your brain really clearly.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Well, but can you say why it's it, it, it, it, you remember it so clearly?
spk_0 I don't know why.
spk_0 It's like one of those things that like while I remember that moment, even though I didn't
spk_0 know this was my future husband, you know.
spk_0 When did the flirt start?
spk_0 Can you tell us?
spk_0 Uh, the flirt?
spk_0 Like, I think we were so like soulmate and mesh kind of in our characters too.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 But also the way we worked.
spk_0 And I just felt like I didn't want to not be near him is what I thought.
spk_0 I love that.
spk_0 Yeah, even at lunchtime, like I'd be like, what are you doing for lunch?
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Whenever let's make a sandwich at crafty, cause whatever.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Who asked who first, whether they were involved in a relationship?
spk_0 We both kind of knew, oh, we, we were both in relationships.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 So then it was respectful all the way through.
spk_0 Yeah, totally respectful.
spk_0 And then we just kept in touch.
spk_0 And then both were out of our relationships.
spk_0 We didn't get together till a year after.
spk_0 Okay.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 South by Southwest was our first hang out.
spk_0 I'm not.
spk_0 I'm not.
spk_0 Hot awesome summer nights.
spk_0 Back to one.
spk_0 Y'all, you know.
spk_0 Still rolling.
spk_0 That's all right.
spk_0 We would, we would, we would, we be remiss if we didn't talk a little bit about roof man.
spk_0 So JB, you saw this movie.
spk_0 It's amazing.
spk_0 Roof man.
spk_0 So let's move on.
spk_0 Give it a huge, huge thumbs up.
spk_0 Huge thumbs up.
spk_0
spk_0 Directed by the great Derek Sanfranc.
spk_0 Yes.
spk_0
spk_0 And co-starring Channing Tatum.
spk_0 Yep.
spk_0 It's a, it's a, it's a, it's a based on a true story about a dude who lives inside
spk_0 of Toys of Rust for a couple of months.
spk_0 Yes, he does.
spk_0 He, he basically robbed like 45 McDonald's through the roof.
spk_0 That's why they call him the roof man.
spk_0 Yeah, this is all true.
spk_0 Really?
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 And he hit out in a, in a Toys of Rust for six months.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 It's, it's, and it's, you know, like, you know me, I'm a dark idiot.
spk_0 And so I keep waiting for this film to get like kind of scary and bleak and dark and
spk_0 crime and, but it's so, this, this film has such a great spirit and warmth about it.
spk_0 Even though it's a centralized around a character that's, you know, breaking the law left and
spk_0 right.
spk_0 And it's not like an overtly sort of Robin Hood thing where they kind of earned it all,
spk_0 but it kind of is.
spk_0 But there's just such great like, there's like a tone throughout it that, that Derek
spk_0 seen for us, just like pulls through it that is just like such a high wire act that's
spk_0 so cool.
spk_0 And Kirsten you and Channing do such a great job of, of maintaining that too.
spk_0 I think it's like, I don't know.
spk_0 I think it's just one of the hardest things in the world to keep something winning and
spk_0 watchable all the way through.
spk_0 Yeah, not be like, sappy or corny or feel manipulative.
spk_0 Yeah, yeah, yeah.
spk_0 I mean, it gets earnest, although it's, it's a very warm movie.
spk_0 It's, I don't know.
spk_0 It's very hard to describe, but I highly recommend it.
spk_0 It's really.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 And Kirsten, I love that.
spk_0 I can't wait to see it.
spk_0 Do you find yourself as long as you've worked kind of integrating yourself towards whether
spk_0 you get credit for it or not, a producerial kind of role when you choose your acting gigs,
spk_0 meaning I like this part.
spk_0 I want to meet with the director or whatever it is.
spk_0 But I have these things to say about how to improve my role in it so that it works for
spk_0 me or whatever the thing is.
spk_0 I mean, I did that on a TV show, but I feel like it's both those movies that I did
spk_0 Roof Man and this, and the plane movie were so developed that it's not really, you know,
spk_0 you're just like, great.
spk_0
spk_0 Yeah, I mean, I would have done anything with Derek.
spk_0 Right.
spk_0 So this isn't a part personally that I would naturally maybe gravitate towards, but I,
spk_0 but I wanted to, again, work with him for the experience.
spk_0 Right, right.
spk_0
spk_0 Yeah, that's was it everything you hoped it would be working with?
spk_0 Yes.
spk_0 Yes.
spk_0 How about that?
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 That's so cool when that happens.
spk_0 I want to work with him again.
spk_0 Yeah, here is a great guy.
spk_0 I've never met him in Channing.
spk_0 It's just like the greatest.
spk_0 He, I love him.
spk_0 Right.
spk_0 He is such a good.
spk_0 He's a good dude.
spk_0 Yes.
spk_0 He's not real.
spk_0 One of the real ones, yeah.
spk_0 So I mean, honestly, and, and, and obviously Derek is such a great filmmaker, but and his
spk_0 movies are kind of little movies.
spk_0 And when I say that, I don't mean in terms of just in terms of like the compared to some
spk_0 of these huge movies that get made these days that are all like based on IP and whatever,
spk_0 he has these really great little story driven movies that he makes and with great characters.
spk_0 Do you, and you've done all of the, as well, you've done great stance and both.
spk_0
spk_0
spk_0 Now when you look to do stuff, so as you sit here and, and, and you're at home and Jesse's
spk_0 off working and you're thinking, okay, I'm going to do something.
spk_0 My next thing, do you have a plan?
spk_0 Do you go like, I want to kind of hit this note next or do you just kind of wait?
spk_0 I kind of wait, but also I'd like to do something fun.
spk_0 Like I just want to have fun and I, yeah, I want to do like a comedy or do something big and fun.
spk_0 And what, and why, and you know, that, like that's the thing we talk about on the show sometimes,
spk_0 like where are those movies?
spk_0 Why do they not make those big fun studio ensemble comedies anymore?
spk_0 I think they will soon.
spk_0 I think they have to.
spk_0 Yeah, because the world around us is too dark.
spk_0 Yeah, I think it is.
spk_0 I think people just have to, I think people are going to want to
spk_0 pray or going to start craving that.
spk_0 I don't know when, but I think I know I will be able to come any next.
spk_0 Yeah, I think it, I think it, you know, sometimes I was talking about this,
spk_0 like this idea that when we're in times that are dark,
spk_0 people don't have as much of an appetite for these big sort of actually fun,
spk_0 and pithy movies because they, because it's not where they're at.
spk_0 And, and it's all often a reflection of like if everything sort of feels calm
spk_0 in, in, in our culture, then we can just kind of go and do these big goofy things.
spk_0 And when it's not calm, it's hard for people to let go.
spk_0 It's weird because you'd think that they'd want to have the escapism,
spk_0 but they actually don't.
spk_0 Yeah, like scary movies are actually doing really well.
spk_0 There you go.
spk_0 Like weapons.
spk_0 Oh my god, that movie's good.
spk_0 Yeah, you love that weapons.
spk_0 Do you love that weapons?
spk_0 I know.
spk_0 Have you seen it?
spk_0 Have you seen it?
spk_0 Kirsten weapons?
spk_0 I haven't seen it yet.
spk_0 No.
spk_0 Do you watch movies?
spk_0 I can't just tell you showing it about every two hours.
spk_0 Do you watch movies though at home or like by yourself or with your kids or whatever?
spk_0 I like going to the movie theater.
spk_0 I, yeah, and I'll take them to the movie theater.
spk_0 I, yeah, I, I'd rather, if I watch movie at home, I fall asleep.
spk_0 Yeah, have they have, they have your kids, you know, the classics like E.T.
spk_0 Star Wars, all those things.
spk_0 You know, they're four and seven.
spk_0 Yeah, it's not like, but you know what my life guy when Star Wars came out.
spk_0 Hey, she's done.
spk_0 She hasn't shown them Star Wars.
spk_0 Don't look at me.
spk_0 Fuck.
spk_0 Okay, go ahead.
spk_0 Sorry.
spk_0 No, I, my four year old likes Venom, the first Venom, which I probably shouldn't have shown him.
spk_0 That's so weird.
spk_0 That's so weird.
spk_0 So is my little guy.
spk_0 Oh my god.
spk_0 My five year old likes Venom too.
spk_0 I mean, we're probably not good parents for showing them.
spk_0 But what I saw, I saw the exercise that I was like eight or nine.
spk_0 Like, yeah, I saw that young too.
spk_0 I should not be seeing that.
spk_0 Also, my child was begging me my four year old to watch Jaws.
spk_0 I was like, okay, Jesse and I showed him the first 10 minutes and tried to explain
spk_0 that the girl is being pulled around on a rope.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 And now he won't go into the ocean alive in the shark.
spk_0 No, he went, he went.
spk_0 He did.
spk_0 He still went.
spk_0 No, we understand I'm like, I can hear that.
spk_0 Well, listen, he keeps on taking it away so much your time.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 This is where you're such a delight.
spk_0 I mean, I could talk to you guys for a while.
spk_0 I know we know.
