spk_0 A shutdown with no solution. I'm Tom Graham Fox News one week into the government shutdown

spk_0 and the finger pointing continues. It is regrettable and sad and real pain is being felt

spk_0 by real people because of these political shenanigans.

spk_0 Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson wants a clean spending bill to end the shutdown

spk_0 Democrats, though, remain dug in with their demands.

spk_0 Democrats have remained firm on including a permanent extension of affordable care act

spk_0 tax credits as part of a deal to reopen the government. Republicans have said the issue

spk_0 should be dealt with separately and the tax credits need to be reformed. House Minority

spk_0 Leader Huckim Jeffries was asked by Fox News Radio, it for forming the program is on

spk_0 the table.

spk_0 What I'm saying is that we have an open mind as it relates to an extension of the affordable

spk_0 care act tax credits based on the merits of what is presented in good faith.

spk_0 The subsidies impact about 22 million people who Democrats say will see a significant increase

spk_0 in premiums if the program isn't extended by the end of the year.

spk_0 On Capitol Hill, Ryan Schmelz Fox News thousands of government workers remain in limbo with

spk_0 mass furloughs during the shutdown and now President Trump is suggesting some will not

spk_0 get back pay when the government reopens.

spk_0 Some, but not all federal workers sidelined by the government shutdown should receive back

spk_0 pay.

spk_0 President Trump says.

spk_0 For the most part, we're going to take care of our people. There are some people that

spk_0 really don't deserve to be taken care of and will take care of them in a different way.

spk_0 The president says he'll follow federal law on paying workers impacted by the shutdown,

spk_0 but a memo from the White House budget office, I use back pay is not guaranteed. It's part

spk_0 of 2019 legislation signed by President Trump.

spk_0 Congress has approved back pay provisions following previous shutdowns at the White

spk_0 better job than in the past. We have very few people coming in through our southern border

spk_0 too. We've worked with Canada and we've worked with Mexico. So we've made it a lot better.

spk_0 Today October 7th, marking two years since the attacks on Israel that prompted the war

spk_0 and Gaza negotiations are underway between Hamas and Israeli leaders to end the fighting.

spk_0 Two years ago we were in southern Israel along the Gaza border as thousands of terrorists

spk_0 infiltrated into the country. On that terrible day, nearly 1200 people were killed and 240

spk_0 taken hostage. We know that 48 of them still remain in Hamas captivity. American-led

spk_0 peace talks started yesterday in Egypt aimed at reaching an agreement by the end of the

spk_0 week. If the deal progresses, all of the remaining captives would be exchanged for 250 Palestinian

spk_0 prisoners serving life sentences and 1700 gauzeins arrested since the beginning of the war.

spk_0 Over the weekend, President Trump called on the Israelis to immediately stop bombing Gaza

spk_0 as the ceasefire talks progress.

spk_0 And Fox's trade yinx in Tel Aviv. Pope Leo I, the first foreign trip has been announced.

spk_0 Pope Leo the 14th will visit Turkey and Lebanon later this year. The six day trip begins on

spk_0 November 30th. It will include a pilgrimage to Isnac in Turkey to mark the 1700th anniversary

spk_0 of the council of Nicaea, the first ecumenical council. Leo's predecessor, Pope Francis,

spk_0 had planned to visit Turkey but died before he could make the trip. The first American-born

spk_0 Pope made no secret of a desire to complete Francis's plans. Pope Leo was expected to use the

spk_0 journey to speak about the plight of Christians in the Middle East.
