spk_0 Not quite as groundbreaking or newsmaking as Mandalorian Grootoo.

spk_0 But we've got Star Wars Visions volume three.

spk_0 We're going to take a look at the trailer that just dropped this week for that.

spk_0 And I'm excited because some of these episodes are follow-ups to volume one.

spk_0 Which I did watch.

spk_0 I know Jimmy Matt is a big fan of all of the Star Wars Visions.

spk_0 I have not made it through volume two.

spk_0 I think with volume three coming up, I will probably finish that.

spk_0 But you know, with the lag between seasons being what it is,

spk_0 volume three is carrying some direct sequels or follow-ups to episodes from that debut season or volume.

spk_0 Not only that, we do have some more Star Wars Starfighter rumors and a little bit of news about Asoka season two.

spk_0 Plus we're going to get to listen to feedback and hopefully some Star Wars in pop culture here this week.

spk_0 Yeah, I'm looking forward to Star Wars Visions.

spk_0 And I am a fan of season two.

spk_0 I think season two is superior to season one quite honestly.

spk_0 Because season one is all anime.

spk_0 And season two, it's more of an international vibe where you have different animation studios from all over the world creating Star Wars stories.

spk_0 So you get all sort of different styles of animation as opposed to just the singular anime look of season one and season three of Star Wars Visions.

spk_0 But that shouldn't let anyone's enthusiasm for season three get to finish.

spk_0 I thought season one was just really good as well.

spk_0 But I do prefer season two.

spk_0 I don't know, maybe some anime fans are mad at me for saying that you know how anime fans are.

spk_0 Oh, I live with one.

spk_0 I live with one.

spk_0 Yeah, right.

spk_0 They're they're an interesting bunch.

spk_0 But aren't we all really at the end of the day?

spk_0 But no, you're as you say, Jim, we'll get into it in a little bit.

spk_0 But that's interesting that season two they created more of a global.

spk_0 Yeah, grouping of animation studios.

spk_0 But with season three, they're back to using all Japanese studios this time around.

spk_0 So looking like it will have that anime style running throughout.

spk_0 And three of them are actually continuations.

spk_0 Wow.

spk_0 Yeah, three.

spk_0 Okay, three.

spk_0 That's cool.

spk_0 And we also know that the ninth Jedi is going to get spun off into its own series.

spk_0 Now, when they say series, you never know with Lucasfilm.

spk_0 It could be just like eight shorts, you know, that you could watch it in over the course of like half an hour.

spk_0 But I don't know what to expect from the ninth Jedi series.

spk_0 And we don't even know when that thing is going to drop.

spk_0 I would anticipate it being still a couple of years off maybe if it is like a really fleshed out complete series.

spk_0 But we could see that they're still saying 2026.

spk_0 Oh, they are saying 26.

spk_0 So this is obviously going to be a launching pad for that series.

spk_0 So I'm thinking that's the case.

spk_0 I mean, we could be seeing the ninth Jedi series drop maybe in the first half of 2026.

spk_0 But of course, we have a couple of other things competing for space in the Star Wars universe as far as 2026 goes.

spk_0 The Darth Maul animated series, which I predict will drop in early spring.

spk_0 We went to early spring.

spk_0 Maybe I'm wrong.

spk_0 I don't know.

spk_0 I was kind of find out.

spk_0 Maybe I'm being optimistic.

spk_0 I was kind of hoping for a January like right after the new year start for Maul.

spk_0 And then I would anticipate a selfish.

spk_0 I would.

spk_0 Right.

spk_0 And so maybe in November, we'll get a trailer and a premier date announced maybe January, maybe February.

spk_0 The only reason I feel that way is because the bad batch seasons two and three dropped early in the year.

spk_0 That's right.

spk_0 The year the two years that they were released.

spk_0 And then you can have a clear runway for the Mandalorian and Grogu film in the spring.

spk_0 And then roll off the summer into the Asoka season two, which I think it's going to drop in August or September because Asoka season one dropped in August a few years ago.

spk_0 So maybe they're going to try to stick to that same.

spk_0 That's him premier window.

spk_0 Yeah.

spk_0 So 2026.

spk_0 I mean, Jay is just a speculation as far as what's going to be released and when.

spk_0 That's going to be a strong year for Star Wars.

spk_0 It's going to be a big strong year.

spk_0 And you know, whether there's synergy or not between say Mandalorian and Grogu from a character or plot standpoint.

spk_0 Rolling into something like Asoka that remains to be seen.

spk_0 But we do know that they take place in the same era of Star Wars.

spk_0 So it is possible.

spk_0 And that's something that Disney stated they were they wanted to do from day one, which is create one entire universe encompassing all of the different mediums.

spk_0 So we shall see.

spk_0 And who knows with some of that theatrical mojo and knowing that they really got to get Asoka over.

spk_0 Could we even see like some sort of promotional tie and maybe an Asoka trailer going out with the mando Grogu movie something like that.

spk_0 Yeah.

spk_0 Why not?

spk_0 Yeah, something to tie it in.

spk_0 That's really wise.

spk_0 But you are of course one of the top marketing minds in of course.

spk_0 Cleveland.

spk_0 And of course the Midwest, you know, right?

spk_0 Maybe in the entire country.

spk_0 I think your international status proceeds.

spk_0 I think worldwide swank.

spk_0 We've been talking about it a lot over the last.

spk_0 The course of the last few weeks.

spk_0 But I just wanted to give you one final update on the event and let you guys know how much you kicked ass.

spk_0 And it's a fish.

spk_0 Rubble Force radio and the RFR community raised $37,000 for Ranch Obi-Wan in the Saga Museum.

spk_0 $37,000.

spk_0 Wow.

spk_0 Obviously no expense was spared as far as the event itself.

spk_0 You guys saw the open bar.

spk_0 You guys saw the Skywalker wine tasting stations.

spk_0 You guys saw the Shaku-Tori.

spk_0 And there was just all kind of other expenses and stuff.

spk_0 Me and Jason, of course, accepted no talent fee for this.

spk_0 And of course, I know what you're saying.

spk_0 Talent fee.

spk_0 Okay.

spk_0 All right.

spk_0 You know, we did it all out of love and passion for Ranch Obi-Wan, Steve San's Weed, Ann Newman, and the entire crew there.

spk_0 So everyone who participated and took the time to fly out there and hang out with us should be very, very proud of themselves and pleased.

spk_0 And this is just a great feather in the cap for our relationship with Steve and Rancho and the whole bit so fantastic.

spk_0 And of course, anybody who went there and saw it for themselves, they realize why this is so important, why this has to be preserved, not just preserved, but grown into something even bigger.

spk_0 They're preserving the history of Star Wars as told via memorabilia.

spk_0 And more than memorabilia, my goodness, I mean actual historical landmark pieces in the collection.

spk_0 We're talking about four lambs crotch.

spk_0 We're talking about Darth Vader's Godpiece, which I did sniffed.

spk_0 I mean, if anybody thinks I'm going to share with them what it smelled like you're wrong.

spk_0 So here's my thought about Mendelsohn and Grogu.

spk_0 I think that not only do they need to hit it out of the park, they need to do a grand slam with this one.

spk_0 And to do that, not only do we need a good movie, we need a good toy line, we need video games, we need apps, clothing, a real good merch push, and that will appeal to kids.

spk_0 And I'd even go as far to say that I think the movie should be a little bit formulated.

spk_0 Formulated movie are not my cup of tea, but they are successful.

spk_0 Just look right now what's happening on Netflix with K-pop, Demon Hunter.

spk_0 I've watched this thing.

spk_0 I hate it.

spk_0 I have a little bit of vulgar in my mouth when I watch it.

spk_0 But this thing is crazy popular.

spk_0 Every kids that you know, I've seen this thing like a hundred times already, and they know the music by heart.

spk_0 So they need to do something that appeals that is easy to watch, easy to understand.

spk_0 And yes, maybe a little bit formulated for this one movie, so that the entire planet is back on board with Star Wars.

spk_0 And that's my opinion on it.

spk_0 I say the movies in this, they're not going anywhere.

spk_0 But here's the thing that's what you can do it while you can.

spk_0 Here's the thing that's interesting about K-pop demon hunters is, and even though Dominic is saying that it's formulaic, that may be true.

spk_0 I haven't seen it yet.

spk_0 But what I can say is they did not expect this thing to be huge.

spk_0 There was no merch.

spk_0 There was nothing planned other than putting this movie out.

spk_0 And it is insane.

spk_0 And there are presales galore.

spk_0 There are signs at various shops in the mall saying K-pop demon hunters clothing and whatnot, you know, coming soon.

spk_0 It reminds me very much of not just the original rollout of Star Wars, where they had no merch for something that was insanely popular.

spk_0 But Jim, not that many years ago with Mandalorian season one.

spk_0 And you had people just printing t-shirts with baby Yoda all over him because they had no idea that it was going to be as insanely popular as it was.

spk_0 And what I think Dominic is sort of talking about, he calls it, you know, making it really simple and all that.

spk_0 What I think it is is just about making movies for mainstream audiences again.

spk_0 I think that's what it's about.

spk_0 And you can say, well, they're doing that, Jason.

spk_0 They're making all these superhero movies and people aren't necessarily breaking down the doors to go see him.

spk_0 Well, that may be true.

spk_0 But I think a lot of the times, at least recently with the Marvel films, is that they're so buried in lore and they're now dealing with the sea and the D teams of these characters.

spk_0 Superman, and now it didn't make as much money as the first Caval Superman movie, but it did really well.

spk_0 So Superman was a return to form because I think that was a good example of making a movie for mainstream audiences.

spk_0 Every day folks bring in their families, bring in the kids wanting some escapeism.

spk_0 And I think that's what Superman gave them.

spk_0 And Jim, I hope that's what Mando and Grogu gives us is escapeism and something that everyone can enjoy.

spk_0 Not just the most die hard, sick, a fan, fans agreed.

spk_0 And we do want to see the reach of this to be large.

spk_0 I mean, who doesn't recall the great days of the prequel trilogy, all the hype leading up to the Phantom Menace.

spk_0 You couldn't go anywhere without seeing the Star Wars logo multiple times, North, South, East, West, Star Wars, Star Wars, Star Wars, Star Wars.

spk_0 And I thought it was amazing.

spk_0 And it was also a time where you would self reflect and you would say, you know, is too much a bad thing.

spk_0 Is this being overhyped? Is there going to be over saturation of Star Wars?

spk_0 But at that point we didn't care because Star Wars had been gone for 16 years and we were ready for it.

spk_0 Everyone was ready for it. So it was a big splash.

spk_0 The Mandalorian and Grogu while Star Wars has not been on the silver screens in six years, it can never achieve the big splash that we saw for the Phantom Menace and the subsequent films of the sequel trilogy.

spk_0 And of course, the Force Awakens was super heavily hyped.

spk_0 They pulled back on the reins, heavily following that. The last Jedi didn't quite get the promotional push that the Force Awakens could, but what could match the Force Awakens?

spk_0 That was one of the most heavily hyped films of all time.

spk_0 My mom went with her old lady friends to the movie theater and they were dragging oxygen takes along with them.

spk_0 Not that there's anything wrong with that, but it takes a certain level of commitment to do something like that.

spk_0 Yeah, it does. Now of course, the film, you know, the film going experiences change drastically in the course of the last 10 years.

spk_0 The lockdown did a massive wallop on the box office and really nothing's been the same since then.

spk_0 We've all become very accustomed to watching first run films in our own home theaters.

spk_0 So viewing habits have changed. So when you compare the Superman today to the Superman of Cabal, it's hard to compare those box offices because we're so compelled to go to the theater back then.

spk_0 There weren't all of the premium experiences we have now with the premium experiences like, you know, the cushy theaters with the table service and the recliners

spk_0 and the open bar and all that. I mean, that was not really that was we're right on the verge of that around 2015 when the Force Awakens came out or back in 2006 when the Cabal film came out.

spk_0 I think it was 2006 if I'm not mistaken.

spk_0 So we're talking about almost 20 years between the Superman of today to the Superman returns and so much has changed.

spk_0 Just so much has changed. So people aren't so compelled to go out. So I think the success of Superman is a really strong sign that mainstream superhero films will do well.

spk_0 Now, I think Marvel has moved beyond the mainstream at this point and they've reverted to the hardcore.

spk_0 Okay. How many times does it have to be proven that nobody wants a fantastic for cinematic experience? Nobody wants that.

spk_0 How many times does that have to be proven that that that that's team that superhero team was stale in the 80s when I was a kid.

spk_0 I mean, they were stale back then. You know, it's clobbering times.

spk_0 STF you thing.

spk_0 And I'm saying this is somebody who is kind of fond of the fantastic for it. Don't get me wrong, but it is not something that translates to a successful cinematic franchise.

spk_0 It just doesn't put read Richards in there with the with the Avengers or Johnny Flamon torch put them all in there with the Avengers.

spk_0 They're a great second team, but this ain't 1963 no more. Nobody cares about the fantastic for.

spk_0 All right. All right. So glad we cleared that up. I got I got to step off the soap box, but what I'm trying to say is where the F is the play dough.

spk_0 Well, where is it? See, Dominique was heard you Jim and yeah, I know all over the Facebook group. It was all over the Patreon people talking about the play.

spk_0 So don't be surprised at the next Rebel Force radio live event. You're probably going to be inundated with play dough. Right. Forget the tomato.

spk_0 They're going to be throwing play dough at you. It's not toxic. We could serve it up on like Trisky crackers and stuff. And I bet Rich Brindle lead a bunch of them.

spk_0 I bet I think that explains a lot about Rich Brindle actually.

spk_0 We love Rich Rich is great. He was great fun to have out at Rancho Obi-Wan two years. He's a good hang friend. A friend of the show Rich Brindle who is he's been through a lot with us.

spk_0 He's a rich man. You know, he's like I would consider Rich Brindle at this point a true survivor. You know someone who's who's been with RFR for a really long time.

spk_0 He's still there. And oh, he's still there. Yeah.

spk_0 You can run him over with a semi a podcast semi and he'll still be standing and not care. I love that guy. He's a great guy.

spk_0 And I would love to see him eat Play-Doh on Trisky crackers. I just say that I just can visualize that. So maybe next time.

spk_0 Next time. But when I say where the F is the play-Doh, that's what I'm saying is Moichin dice for the kids. You want to get the kids in it. You've got to give them Play-Doh.

spk_0 They think Lego is the only thing that will open the doors. I'm telling you, you guys are completely overlooking the power of Play-Doh.

spk_0 And I don't know what's going on here in a world where I have to be begging for more Play-Doh. But that's where we're at in the year 2025.

spk_0 We need more Play-Doh. You want to sell this movie to kids? Play-Doh. All right. That's all I got to say about that.

spk_0 And you're using Play-Doh as a metaphor, right? Or do you mean literal Play-Doh?

spk_0 Oh my God. What was the last time we had in Star Wars Play-Doh set? What was the last time?

spk_0 I think that's a really good question. I think the last time I'm going to guess. I think the last time was probably some sort of tie-in with Revenge of the Sith.

spk_0 I seem to remember most of far looking Play-Doh. But I don't think, see, Play-Dohs out, it seems to be out of the licensing game.

spk_0 Every major movie that had a lot of merch and variably had a Lego or excuse me, a Play-Doh play set of some sort.

spk_0 But now you can get the canisters, you can get the, you know, some of the classics like the Play-Doh dentist or the barbershop, some of those things.

spk_0 But I can't remember the last time that I've seen like a movie or TV-themed Play-Doh play set.

spk_0 Well, the original Star Wars Play-Doh play set came out in the 70s and it was tied into the original film. Then there were subsequent sets released for the Empire Strikes Back in Return of the Jedi.

spk_0 However, Play-Doh still exists to this day. And they are still in the licensing game, at least as far as the Mandalorian is concerned.

spk_0 Oh, no kidding. Actually is a Play-Doh Mandalorian launching speeders set, which I just stumbled across and you could get it from Target 3499.

spk_0 So they are still making Play-Doh. Star Wars Play-Doh. But how come we don't ever hear about it?

spk_0 Alright, so maybe you don't have questions. Maybe the question shouldn't necessarily be where the F is the Play-Doh.

spk_0 The question should be where the F is the love for the Play-Doh.

spk_0 The love of the... I ain't seen that. And you got to inform the, the, the, the chillins that there is Star Wars Play-Doh.

spk_0 And who, you got to go and get it.

spk_0 There's Chrome Play-Doh now. Chrome Play-Doh.

spk_0 Well, I've got to talk about this more often. Swank has discovered Chrome Play-Doh.

spk_0 One of the scenes we got to see was what looked like Mando and Grogu in an ad ad with snow troopers,

spk_0 which looked like it could be Hawth.

spk_0 I'm going to say it's Hawth.

spk_0 And I'm going to say that the reason they're on Hawth is that one of two things.

spk_0 Either the first order, hey, calm first.

spk_0 I'm just going to calm the Empire.

spk_0 The Empire has got a hidden base there.

spk_0 They're following the same strategy that rebellion did during the Galactic Civil War.

spk_0 They're trying to hide out and not raise attention.

spk_0 Or after the events of Empire Strikes Back,

spk_0 the Empire decided to build a base there from some secret research,

spk_0 cloning, something like that.

spk_0 And that's why Mando and Grogu are there.

spk_0 They're tracking out some leads, trying to figure out what happened to Grogu

spk_0 and why he was hidden in that pram at the start of the Mandalorans.

spk_0 So there's my very random theory for the Mando and Grogu.

spk_0 I think that this film is going to look forward.

spk_0 I don't think that this movie is going to be looking backward.

spk_0 I don't think it's going to be giving us anything, any insights into what happened

spk_0 before the events of Mandalorian season one.

spk_0 I think that maybe if this is a big success, they might go there with a follow-up.

spk_0 But I think they're making this for new audiences.

spk_0 And that is where they see the growth in the Star Wars fan base.

spk_0 And they don't want to alienate people with a bunch of backstory.

spk_0 That's my thought.

spk_0 I disagree in one category.

spk_0 And that would be the Grogu backstory, which I think we will get information about in this film.

spk_0 I think we'll learn more about what happened to Grogu after the Ahmed Best Jedi saved him during Order 66.

spk_0 I think we'll get to see a continuation.

spk_0 Maybe Ahmed will be in the film as Kaurin Beck, the Jedi who saved Yoda.

spk_0 And what that would be some great vindication for Ahmed Best, which we've been talking about for the last few years,

spk_0 about how he's been taking it back and claiming ownership of his performance and his role

spk_0 and doing so with pride and dignity.

spk_0 And that's what I really want to see for Moments.

spk_0 So it would be great to see him actually his face on a movie theater screen,

spk_0 because I don't think we've ever seen Ahmed in an actual...

spk_0 Oh no, I should take that back.

spk_0 He was sitting in the...

spk_0 I think it was called the Outlander Club.

spk_0 Yeah, in Attack of the Clones.

spk_0 So I think we'll get information that's been long gestating about Grogu's backstory.

spk_0 We can't let the character grow as long as we're locked into this mystery

spk_0 about some of his past.

spk_0 Yeah, you keep calling him Grogu, right?

spk_0 It may be the case that they look at the Mandalorian series, and they look at the hours viewed.

spk_0 They've got the numbers and they say, okay, we feel that this story of the origin of Grogu

spk_0 is such that mainstream audiences will care.

spk_0 And those that have been with the characters from the beginning, which is a lot of people,

spk_0 not just your die-hard Star Wars fans, that they would find that fulfilling and they'd want to know.

spk_0 So yeah, something like that quite possibly could happen.

spk_0 I don't know how they shoehorn it into sort of what we can assume is a standalone story or adventure,

spk_0 how they find a way to tell Grogu's backstory along the way without there being some villain that's revealed at the end,

spk_0 that has a history with Grogu.

spk_0 That's the thing that I'm kind of hoping doesn't happen, is that this thing doesn't unfold and all of a sudden,

spk_0 oh, there's this guy and he's from season two.

spk_0 And I'll remember this from season one.

spk_0 I just don't need all those callbacks.

spk_0 Right, right.

spk_0 Here's Tim Meadows from season three.

spk_0 Yeah, right.

spk_0 We did.

spk_0 Tim Meadows.

spk_0 By the way, I'm not really on board with the peacemaker, DC's peacemaker, James Goeth, John Cena.

spk_0 And I am a James Gunn fan and I am a huge DC fan.

spk_0 I haven't really been able to connect with peacemaker, but my family adores peacemaker.

spk_0 And they tell me peacemaker season two features Tim Meadows in an amazing performance.

spk_0 Like his character is just so amazing.

spk_0 That's never been so easy.

spk_0 I don't know.

spk_0 And he think about it.

spk_0 Tim Meadows performance ever.

spk_0 Tim, I mean, nothing against Tim Meadows, but I mean, you talk about pretty bland.

spk_0 You know, he's just there.

spk_0 So he's still some ladies, man.

spk_0 Yeah, they tried with ladies, they tried.

spk_0 They tried.

spk_0 It was a successful SNL bit, but it didn't translate to the film.

spk_0 You know, that's when Lauren Michaels was really rolling all of these characters off of SNL into feature films.

spk_0 And the ladies man, I don't know.

spk_0 Andy quoted the week from that film.

spk_0 Because he says nothing quote worthy in that film.

spk_0 And I find it really hard to believe that you're going to take this character created by Tim Meadows.

spk_0 He's essentially a parody of Billy D. Williams, right?

spk_0 And then you put Billy D.

spk_0 And then you get Billy D in the movie to play a bartender and it's like perfect casting.

spk_0 You can't go wrong, but they forgot to write a single line of memorable dialogue for

spk_0 Billy D Williams in that film.

spk_0 You would think we would have Billy D quote to the week from that film to last us for a

spk_0 year.

spk_0 But no.

spk_0 I've never ever as Lady Man's dad.

spk_0 That's, that's, I think that's who he would have been for me.

spk_0 It was just a massive idea, huh?

spk_0 Like, like Billy D appearances in things like fanboys was brilliant.

spk_0 You know, just brilliant judge Reinhold that 70s show.

spk_0 I mean, it was just so many great things he's done, but you think ladies man would have

spk_0 been a slam dunk, but it wasn't.

spk_0 No, no, it's, it's up there with the it's Pat movie for those of you who remember

spk_0 that character.

spk_0 I didn't see that one either.

spk_0 Or those guys, those, those guys who were all like, oh, yeah, they were all in.

spk_0 And Chris Katan, the, the, the, I don't remember their names.

spk_0 Night at the Roxbury movie, but night at the Roxbury, the Roxbury guys that, that's

spk_0 They, they took characters.

spk_0 And all you saw them do was dance and make these goofy gestures and, you know, clearly

spk_0 talking about, you know, doing some nose beers there on the dance floor.

spk_0 And let's make a 90 minute film out of that.

spk_0 These two guys with the booger sugar go crazy at the night club.

spk_0 I would have rather seen the wild and crazy guys, you know, Steve Martin, Dan Ackery.

spk_0 But it makes you think about what SNL film spin off has actually been a success.

spk_0 I think you can count up to number two.

spk_0 You got the Blues Brothers and you got Wayne's world.

spk_0 And beyond that, everything else is a swing and a miss.

spk_0 I think they tried with Molly Shannon's Catholic school girl character superstar.

spk_0 It may have its fans, but it didn't really make a dent in the box office nor pop culture.

spk_0 I think we're going to see Tim Morrison as Boba Fett.

spk_0 I think a lot of what we've seen or not heard from him has been kind of like Kenobi denial

spk_0 from you and Liam Neeson.

spk_0 I have a little bit of a soka speculation.

spk_0 I brought this up a couple of years ago on a call and a hunch.

spk_0 I think in that second half, when it's all out war, I think we will see the destruction

spk_0 of Coruscant at the hands of Grand Admiral Thron since it's never mentioned at all in

spk_0 the sequel trilogy.

spk_0 I think it's very possible.

spk_0 I don't know that I would put money on it, but I think that I think the likelihood is

spk_0 If you would have asked me six months ago, I would have said no, no way.

spk_0 There's no way this character is showing back up in Star Wars, but in light of recent

spk_0 events and the, the, the settlement that was reached and the statement that was issued

spk_0 by Disney was that a Disney statement or Lucasfilm.

spk_0 And I mean, it probably doesn't really matter that much.

spk_0 I think it was Disney.

spk_0 It was Disney.

spk_0 I think it was Disney.

spk_0 I think that she was doing that we would see her.

spk_0 So yeah, I think he's right.

spk_0 And you know what's interesting is, is she got attached to a series like within weeks of

spk_0 that settlement being.

spk_0 I don't know what kind of, I mean, I don't know if that just means she's shooting a pilot

spk_0 or if this thing's actually been green lit and it's going to end up on a network or

spk_0 or a streaming platform, but I thought it was a network show.

spk_0 If I, if I remember right, I thought it was like on one of the majors, like a prime time.

spk_0 Yeah, something.

spk_0 I don't know about that.

spk_0 So I, I wouldn't be really like knocked off my chair if we saw Cara Dune in the Mandalorian

spk_0 Grogu.

spk_0 I really wouldn't.

spk_0 The second thing he mentioned was an appearance from Boba Fett in the Mandalorian and Grogu

spk_0 film.

spk_0 What do you think about that?

spk_0 Boba Fett.

spk_0 I'd love to see it.

spk_0 I, that is, that's definitely a duo that I really enjoyed.

spk_0 I loved when they were together.

spk_0 I thought it was cool.

spk_0 I thought their dynamic worked.

spk_0 I know there was concern or there was speculation of concern that people would not know who

spk_0 the Mandalorian was and all of that, but I, I like it and I want to see Tim back.

spk_0 I want to see that character back.

spk_0 I hate that some of the misfires of that show has sort of put, just feels like maybe

spk_0 it's put some stigma on Tim's version of Boba Fett.

spk_0 And I think it's, I think it's unfair.

spk_0 I really do.

spk_0 I think Tim brings a lot of excitement and a lot of great things with that.

spk_0 That role.

spk_0 So I want to see the return of Boba Fett if it takes Mando Grogu.

spk_0 Fine.

spk_0 One way or the other, I'd like to see it.

spk_0 But it was one that was not on the top of my head as someone that was going to, a character

spk_0 that was going to come back.

spk_0 I wasn't thinking about Boba Fett.

spk_0 No.

spk_0 But I'd love to.

spk_0 Of course.

spk_0 You weren't.

spk_0 And I'll tell you why you weren't is because essentially the Mandalorian has become the

spk_0 character of Boba Fett that we always knew and loved.

spk_0 I mean, the Mandalorian has a richer backstory.

spk_0 The Boba Fett backstory, they seem like it's, they're trying to piece something together

spk_0 based on him being raised as a clone on Camino by Django Fett.

spk_0 And then what happens next?

spk_0 He goes through a spiritual transformation following his, him be devoured by the Sarlac pit

spk_0 and him escaping and then landing with the Tuskens.

spk_0 I think I love the compelling nature of all of that.

spk_0 And I understand why they have to make Boba Fett a different character than what you would

spk_0 expect from him because Den Jarin has essentially hijacked the character of Boba Fett away from

spk_0 him.

spk_0 And I'm not saying that in a bad way.

spk_0 I'm just saying that's how you say I mean,

spk_0 I mean,

spk_0 The Mandalorian, Den Jarin is more Boba than Boba Fett at this point.

spk_0 He is our idealized version of the character of Boba Fett.

spk_0 He is what we always imagined Boba Fett be.

spk_0 And the reason why they had to make Boba Fett so drastically different than any fan

spk_0 speculation or when your expectations are set to a certain level and you assume something

spk_0 about a character.

spk_0 But the character can't be that anymore because those expectations have been transferred

spk_0 to Den Jarin.

spk_0 So I mean, all of the good elements of Boba Fett has been transferred to Den Jarin.

spk_0 So you have to basically reinvent Boba Fett.

spk_0 And it's fair to do so because he's coming back from life on the brink experience with

spk_0 the Sarlac.

spk_0 So it almost makes sense to put him through some very drastic changes as far as our expectations

spk_0 of who the character is, what he should be, the mysteries surrounding the character and

spk_0 everything.

spk_0 He found religion through the Tuscan Raiders.

spk_0 He discovered an element, a spiritual element of himself that never existed before.

spk_0 Yeah.

spk_0 So I like that part of the story.

spk_0 I just don't think it really advances very well into the Dimeo version of Boba Fett.

spk_0 That's where it starts to fail me.

spk_0 But the character, okay, so the character is orphaned a second time essentially when the

spk_0 Tuscan tribe gets wiped out.

spk_0 So he's back at square one.

spk_0 So he has to take the elements of both of his life experiences.

spk_0 The things that have really forged him would be being raised by Django Fett forges a bounty

spk_0 hunter.

spk_0 Then orphaned on his own.

spk_0 So he takes what he knows and runs with it.

spk_0 Then he finds himself orphaned again, being without his Tuscan Raider tribe.

spk_0 And he is able then to take experiences from both lives.

spk_0 His life is a Tuscan.

spk_0 His life is a bounty hunter and kind of merge them together to become this sort of benevolent

spk_0 gang lord.

spk_0 And it's just like there's something that is tripping up that narrative, I think, in

spk_0 a way that has resulted in a lot of fans expressing their distaste in the Boba Fett series overall.

spk_0 But when you really take a close look at that Boba Fett series, there is the percentage

spk_0 of good vastly outweighs the percentage of bad.

spk_0 But the percentage of bad has left a terrible taste in the mouth of some fans and they just

spk_0 can't get past it.

spk_0 So and there are some productions that are like that.

spk_0 Yeah.

spk_0 So you can't have Boba Fett be Boba Fett because the Mandalorian is Boba Fett.

spk_0 So you have to do something drastically different with his character.

spk_0 And now we're dealing with an aging Tim Morrison who is 64 years old.

spk_0 Okay.

spk_0 I mean, he's a very youthful 64 to more and more.

spk_0 And he's a great dude.

spk_0 And he adds so much gravitas to the character of a Django Fett.

spk_0 I don't know if that necessarily translates to Boba Fett.

spk_0 And here's what I'm thinking though.

spk_0 What I'm thinking, the you are 100% right.

spk_0 You articulated it perfectly with respect to how and why one might not think immediately

spk_0 of a Boba Fett cameo in a Mando Grogu film because it is hard for the two characters

spk_0 to occupy the same space in your head because of like you say, Mando filling that space

spk_0 of sort of the classic Boba Fett character.

spk_0 However, when I think about the 10 version of Boba Fett, I was thinking about him just showing

spk_0 up to help out Mando, you know, in a pinch.

spk_0 I think it'd be a very fun cameo.

spk_0 But when you think about Mando not having any kind of close friend or mentor anymore,

spk_0 we don't know what his relationship with the cousin is and the armorer at this point.

spk_0 He doesn't have grief cargo anymore.

spk_0 So when he when he has to, you know, maybe ask somebody for some advice, talk to somebody,

spk_0 get some brotherly or fatherly or mentor advice, who's he going to turn to?

spk_0 I think Tim's Boba Fett is a good is a good option.

spk_0 That's interesting. And like Boba Fett was never a Mandalorian.

spk_0 No, right. So it's just interesting that, you know, he's out there still wearing the Mandalorian

spk_0 gear. And that's considered sacrilege by guy like Dem Jarin.

spk_0 He sure held Boba Fett a lot during the show, if you remember, he was Sam's helmet a lot.

spk_0 Yeah, well, right, right, right. So you get full on time, like a Bantha with his with his

spk_0 veneers, shining brightly in the Tatooine Sons. So beautiful chopper. Again, I think to establish

spk_0 a clean path forward for Dem Jarin is a Mandalorian. I think bringing Boba Fett back into the

spk_0 fold at this point is not really the right move to do. I just think that you should just give

spk_0 a clear runway to Dem Jarin and let him fully embody the Mandalorian armor, become the only guy

spk_0 in the galaxy wearing it per our perspective, make that make some special. And it really,

spk_0 that just rewinds everything back to season one of the Mandalorian, arguably the most successful

spk_0 season of the Mandalorian was season one. When everyone was on board and had that universal appeal,

spk_0 we talk about so much.

spk_0 Tread, Tread, RFR. This is Adam and Seattle. Just had a couple of thoughts about the trailer.

spk_0 I do agree that a few elements of our are a bit lazy, like, you know, the new Razor Crest does appear

spk_0 to be sort of a blend of the N1 and the old Crest, but really, as far as we know, he's not

spk_0 being down to any more. Does he really need it? Also, in one shot, it looks like he has a

spk_0 pulse rifle again. Now, as far as firearms go, all he's had is a blaster for, you know, since he lost

spk_0 the rifle, and he's, you know, lost a couple, you know, lost the spirits as armor and lost the

spk_0 dark saber, but does he need the same rifle back? I mean, if weapons are part of his religion,

spk_0 shouldn't you be proficient in pretty much everything he can pick up? You know, what about some

spk_0 big, heavy repeater like Paz Vizzler, you know, just some, something different?

spk_0 Anyway, I don't know. Just given him all his old stuff back, he's just kind of like whatever.

spk_0 Also, I think it's time for Gobi to go up a little bit. I think he needs to start talking and

spk_0 doing some more stuff, I guess. Instead of just saving the day and taking an out.

spk_0 Maybe his multiplication. That's about it. I'll show you guys. Thanks.

spk_0 Okay. I love Adam. Adam is like, you know, he's just like, you could tell right from the Gecko,

spk_0 he's a Star Wars fan. He's at his witsend with everything. He's just like, hey guys, this is Adam.

spk_0 I got some thoughts on a trailer.

spk_0 Like right out of the gate, I'm like, oh boy, what's Adam serving up here?

spk_0 Now listen, I think Adam, he's also very well schooled Star Wars fan. He said something very

spk_0 important in there when he was questioning why bring back the Razor Christ, why bring back the

spk_0 Mandalorian rifle? Why do all that? What's the point of it? He said, he explained the absolute

spk_0 reason for why this is happening in his voicemail. He said, weapons are his religion.

spk_0 But then Adam went off to say, why can't you just get some like heavy repeater rifle or

spk_0 and everything? No, no, no, no, dude, rewind weapons are his religion. He has faith in the Razor

spk_0 Christ. He has faith in that Mandalorian. What did he call it? Repeater rifle or whatever he calls

spk_0 rifle? You know, it's the one with the you the you shape thing at the end. Yeah, yeah, yeah,

spk_0 yeah, his a bear. He has the disintegration bullets in there or whatever blasts.

spk_0 But I mean, it's like you setting yourself weapons are his religion. So he's not going to be

spk_0 just so like wishy washy with his faith. Is he sure we saw him existing throughout Mandalorian

spk_0 season three with with different weaponry? But maybe he felt like he was like he felt dirty

spk_0 using that kind of thing, you know, it even goes back to the Jedi thing. This weapon is your life.

spk_0 All right. I've got it in terms like that. I've got another reason why it's necessary. I guess

spk_0 if you go outside of the story and just look at it from a marketing point of view,

spk_0 you know, James Bond needs his Aston Martin. James Bond needs his Walter P P K. And those things,

spk_0 they're they're they're banking on those things being intrinsic to the character, to the profile,

spk_0 to the way it's going to be marketed and merchandise with that rifle slung over his shoulder.

spk_0 It's a little bit about resetting the clock back to where we were with with season one. So

spk_0 I think someone on our our our our breakdown of the trailer last week likened it to the

spk_0 enterprise and rebuilding the enterprise every time it gets blown up. But I think it's about James

spk_0 Bond having his Aston Martin and his Walter P P K. Yeah, I think that's very fair. That's very

spk_0 fair. I mean, they're just these elements of the character that appear time to time in

spk_0 in material possessions. They're very essential to the character. What would Spidey be without his

spk_0 web slinging right? You know, I you know, I have yeah, there's a lot of costume really ripped up in

spk_0 that last movie. So he has the same costume in the sequel. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

spk_0 But I do think Adam was was being very well schooled when he pointed out that the weapons

spk_0 are the religion of the Mandalorian. And Jerry and I mean, it's been stated. Remember when he was

spk_0 boarding that transport and they made him remove all of his weaponry and he made it very clear.

spk_0 As I know that's you're not taking all of this from me. This is my religion. You know,

spk_0 my faith is locked into these these material weapons. And so I mean, you basically set us all

spk_0 straight in your voicemail right there. But then you let it all unravel. I mean, you should have

spk_0 just hung up right then when you said that. Yeah, the weapons are his religion, of course. Click.

spk_0 But then you went and unraveled the whole thing after that. So call us back at him and let me know if you

spk_0 All right. Starfighter. What do we got? We've got a couple of photos that have been released. A

spk_0 black and white promotional photo and then the from the set a colorized photo that we discussed

spk_0 in depth a couple of weeks ago. But other than that we've got a cast.

spk_0 But everything has been short on plot. So what might the plot of this film be? I understand

spk_0 our own Jimmy Mac has curated some of the latest and greatest rumors and if Mac is going to

spk_0 take our time with this we know that they probably have passed his sniff test.

spk_0 Mostly. Mostly I think I think I'm not going to you know put my reputation on the line for all

spk_0 of these rumors but it's just the stuff that I've been hearing and I collect mentally and then I

spk_0 spit it all out to you here on rebel force radio. So I want to get everyone up the speed on some of

spk_0 these plot points that we've been made aware of that could or cannot be in the final star war star

spk_0 fight. Of course you know filmmaking is a creative process and it's constantly evolving.

spk_0 So things get shot they end up on the cutting room floor things get moved around in the editing

spk_0 process. There's always reshoots you never know how the story is going to eventually develop.

spk_0 But with that being said I still would like to apply a little spoiler alert to this information

spk_0 I'm about ready to lay on you. Spoiler alert alert alert alert alert.

spk_0 All right don't say I'm been warned. Yeah right right yeah don't don't don't come cry into us.

spk_0 When we tell you things like the film will be happening the story takes place five years after

spk_0 the events of the rise of Skywalker. So the galaxy is settled into a certain kind of existence you

spk_0 know maybe a little bit a period of peace where the denizens of the galaxy can catch their breath

spk_0 collect a breath and and not live under the oppression of the first order or the empire.

spk_0 So it'll be interesting to see how the galaxy evolves in the wake of the final destruction of

spk_0 Palpatine we assume final final final final with a period. Yeah a very firm period there at the end.

spk_0 Who knows but it seems like everything went out and also the galaxy rose up. It wasn't just

spk_0 Ray and Paul and Finn and them and and and the resistance it was an entire galaxy that took down

spk_0 the first order. This is more of us baby. It took the coolness of Orlando, Calrissian. Yeah.

spk_0 Unite the galaxy and bring out every ship from every shipyard and every docking bay from

spk_0 cross the galaxy to the feet. So I'm I'm interesting to know if that kind of synergy still exists

spk_0 five years after the defeat of the first order like is it a more united galaxy or people

spk_0 will you know if it's anything like our real world that kind of unity probably lasts a good

spk_0 two or three days right and then there there at each other's throats again. Right right and then

spk_0 those pods are floating around in the senate chamber in all the bickering and division and all of this

spk_0 the politicians once again emerge as the only ones victorious while the citizens suffer

spk_0 under the guise of freedom. But I think this is I don't believe that this film is going to deal with

spk_0 the vast the big picture story of galactic politics or anything like that. I think it's going to be

spk_0 a character driven story where it's going to be about a very specific group of individuals

spk_0 going through a very specific challenging moment in their lives which hopefully leads to a lot of action

spk_0 in an adventure you know but it doesn't need to be this big you know vast giant you know doesn't

spk_0 have to be on a galaxy to buy scale right yeah right right on a galactic scale where there's like a

spk_0 political landscape and there's like like the entire vibrancy of the galaxy can be completely

spk_0 suffocated by the events of this film. I don't think it's that. The stakes are going to be high but not

spk_0 necessarily that high. Yeah because it's going to be about characters not the vast the big picture

spk_0 the galactic picture. So happening five years after the rise of Skywalker, new characters,

spk_0 a kid played by Flynn Gray and the scoop on him is Flynn Gray's character will be a force sensitive

spk_0 so the kid will be a force sensitive and you know maybe not really trained but maybe maybe with

spk_0 some knowledge you know maybe like jod from skeleton crew you know where you could use the force but

spk_0 not really in a refined way you know he's just a kid he's just a kid but the element that makes me

spk_0 think he's he's had some training is his mother Amy Adams is playing Flynn's mother and it said that

spk_0 she is a force sensitive maybe Jedi. Maybe Jedi yeah maybe like who knows but definitely for

spk_0 sensitive. I don't know if she's been trained as a Jedi or she's just simply for sensitive but

spk_0 some of the scuttle butt is leading me to believe that she is a fully fledged Jedi. So you're

spk_0 wondering where were she during the events of this ecuatrology. These are always the questions

spk_0 that come up hopefully that gets resolved somehow in the narrative for Star Wars Starfighter.

spk_0 So you got any questions so far Jason any comments any questions?

spk_0 So far no however if this is true and even if the intention is to keep this

spk_0 sort of the scope of this story somewhat small and be a very character driven story you're still

spk_0 dealing with some pretty big elements of Star Wars alchemy. So I'm starting to think well wait a

spk_0 minute this sounds like a lot of groundwork to be laid are we looking at more than a standalone

spk_0 here because they keep talking that this is a standalone film. But as you're laying this stuff out

spk_0 this is starting to feel like you might have yourself a saga with these story elements.

spk_0 It might be the launching pad for certain elements of a saga and I'll get to that.

spk_0 Oh okay I'll get to that in a minute. So we all know Ryan Gosling's in the film and really I

spk_0 think Ryan Gosling's participation is the thing that got this film green lit so fast you know and

spk_0 also because things are really stalled out in some other Star Wars productions that have been in

spk_0 the works like the new Jedi Order film with Daisy Ridley. We've heard that there was there were

spk_0 you know even when this film was first being kind of a buzz was starting to develop about

spk_0 Sean Levy being involved in a Star Wars film. It was presented to us in a way where it was like

spk_0 yeah his film is definitely going to have some tie-ins to the race story. So it almost seemed like

spk_0 to us it was a race between Sean Levy and Charmino Bay Genoy and you know the script that they've

spk_0 been working on forever you know that's the one they really want to try to get right. We called it

spk_0 the race for Ray because both of these filmmakers had Ray in their sites as anchoring their films.

spk_0 So I think Ray may have something to do with this film but as for what I understand as far as

spk_0 Ryan Gosling goes he is cast as Amy Adams brother and Flynn's uncle. So he and he's like a

spk_0 military guy or a starfighter pilot of some sort you know he's the type of guy who's very capable

spk_0 probably most likely with a military background and somebody who could possibly be entrusted with

spk_0 taking Flynn Gray's for sensitive character and getting him to safety. The reason that is is

spk_0 because there are two antagonists hunting Flynn Gray and Gosling is asked by the Amy Adams

spk_0 character Flynn Gray's mother I assume to protect her son and so these two antagonists are

spk_0 probably played by Mia Goth and Matt Smith. So they are the ones in pursuit of Flynn Gray

spk_0 and it is said that Gosling is neither a Jedi nor a force sensitive. I think he's going to be an

spk_0 every man. I think he's going to start fighter pilots you know yeah and he is going to be entrusted

spk_0 by Amy Adams to save her son. I'm speculating off of this information that Amy Adams will probably

spk_0 be killed off early in the movie. Keep in mind this is at the end of the day a Disney film so

spk_0 a little fighting Nemo action happening. You got to kill mom for the first act for sure. Yeah yeah

spk_0 you know so Jimmy ring any bells you know I mean it's still scarred when you say that this could

spk_0 be the launching pad. Yeah I mean don't then don't take this so literally but could this could

spk_0 this introduce the characters and situations that we're going to see in the Kenberg trilogy much

spk_0 like Rogue One though retroactively introduced characters and situations that went off into the

spk_0 original trilogy so could this be a standalone that as you say introduces the elements

spk_0 and everything that we're going to that's going to consume us for the next maybe decade are

spk_0 close to it with this Kenberg trilogy. Yeah the way I think it's going to play out is that

spk_0 Starfighter will be sort of a foundation for not only the Charmino Bage Chenoy new Jedi order

spk_0 Daisy Ridley film but for then the Kenberg trilogy and I'll tell you how that's all going to

spk_0 work out because there is a rumor that Daisy Ridley will make an appearance in this film Star

spk_0 War Starfighter. There is a lot of potential for this story to tie into the upcoming Ray new Jedi

spk_0 order film so and we also have been hearing that some Ray backstory might be explored one rumor says

spk_0 we may learn about her mother having a Jedi past. So yeah a lot of Jedi running around at a time when

spk_0 we thought they were largely abolished but what I'm thinking is going to happen here is that this film

spk_0 Star War Starfighter will set up then the next Daisy Ridley Ray film whether it be the new Jedi

spk_0 order film with Charmino Bage Chenoy at the helm written by George Nofi at this point the third

spk_0 writing team to to take on this this screenplay and oh first we had Damon Lindelof and his writing

spk_0 partner and then we had Justin Britton and then we had Steven Knight who is moved on to

spk_0 he's moved on to the Peaky Blinders film and then I think he's I think he is now attached

spk_0 to some sort of franchise thing like a Marvel or he did there was there was some news about him

spk_0 recently yeah yeah I didn't commit any of that to memory but whatever he's not working on Star Wars

spk_0 anymore although well and there was also news speaking a news on Star Wars attached names there

spk_0 was news about James mangled signing a huge deal with Paramount so yeah and you know how far along

spk_0 that is in the pipeline I don't know I I'm sure that these contracts take into account

spk_0 obligations that the talent has upon entering them fire remember right I think JJ Abrams signed a

spk_0 high profile deal not long after he worked on the Force Awakens or while he was working on it

spk_0 well he was already attached to Paramount when he accepted the Force Awakens and Paramount let him do it

spk_0 so I don't think these these film studios are going to stand in the way of these filmmakers who

spk_0 really want to do something you know especially as big as Star Wars if Paramount stood in the way

spk_0 I'm sure JJ Abrams would have had his lawyers do everything he could to nullify the entire

spk_0 contract with Paramount and Paramount doesn't want that they want JJ Abrams yeah go make your

spk_0 Star Wars movie we'll be here waiting for you when you get back that's how that works and I

spk_0 think these are necessarily exclusivity these these these they're just long term commitments to the

spk_0 studio to produce a certain amount of work well the thing with Mangold is he's attached to two

spk_0 franchise films with DC and Swamp Thing Lucas film and the Star Wars Dawn of the Jedi concept

spk_0 that they want to make of them and from what I understand that James is still fully committed to

spk_0 those projects and the terminology in his contract with who do you sound like universal or who

spk_0 Paramount who Paramount it wasn't that I understand that the language in that contract with Paramount is

spk_0 accepting of him you know fulfilling the commitments he already has on the table but I think James

spk_0 wants to do some more personal projects and concepts that he's been developing on his own for

spk_0 years that are you know not attached to any kind of franchise or any other studio I think he wants

spk_0 to do some real original stuff and he's looking at Paramount to be the place for him to create those

spk_0 films when he's done with yeah Swamp Thing and Star Wars right I mean you know it might not be another

spk_0 decade until we see James Mangold's contribution to Paramount's but yeah it'll happen. By the way

spk_0 Stephen Knight I got that it how could we forget it's he's writing the next Bond film the Bond of

spk_0 course the Bond yeah he got attached to that that one so yeah and that's coming in like what 2028

spk_0 yeah yeah they keep pushing that one down the line no no they're taking their time with that you

spk_0 appreciate that there's none of this rush rush rush like there was with the sequel trilogy you know

spk_0 yeah the sequel trilogy was really under the gun from day one and that's why I think we see a

spk_0 little bit of sloppiness in the storytelling but and the cohesiveness of the entire trilogy is

spk_0 non-existent but whatever so we got the Mia Goth stuff oh Matt Smith his character is said to be

spk_0 playing a military general hmm so he's he's like someone locked in the some maybe first order

spk_0 or maybe there's some sort of splinter military force militia or something Matt Smith is involved in

spk_0 so and the big room palpatine clone well you know those were the rumors that he was supposed to

spk_0 be playing the clone of Palpatine in the rises Skywalker before his character was eliminated

spk_0 and they did a rewrite on the whole thing but as far as Ryan Gosling goes the rumor is he will

spk_0 be on a mission to deliver Flynn Gray Amy Adam's son to the new Jedi Academy which is possibly

spk_0 run by Ray so you'll see Ray at the end of the film okay and then that will set up the Charmino

spk_0 Baytia Noy film which will probably happen around the same period of time and then you'll jump

spk_0 five years into the future ten years after the events that rises Skywalker for the Simon

spk_0 Kimberg trilogy that's my personal speculation on what's happening wow okay so that so then there

spk_0 is a lot of pressure on this Charmino Baytia Noy film to get underway because we know that the the

spk_0 Kimberg trilogy there's work happening on that they're they're they're working on scripts

spk_0 they're full steam ahead and yet it seems like the ray film has been has been stalled yes well

spk_0 stalled tripped up at the very least extremely tripped up so we could be looking at a whole brand new

spk_0 race for ray between Charmino Baytia Noy and Simon Kimber if Kimber he's like hey I got a trilogy

spk_0 ready to go here with Ray there they're they're not going to be waiting for George Nolfe and

spk_0 Charmino Baytia Noy to get there you know what together I bet we see another Mando Grogu film in

spk_0 theaters before we see the Charmino Baytia Noy and or Kimberg uh yeah trilogy stuff but I think

spk_0 you're absolutely right fingers crossed that is the case the way that'll happen is if the Mandalorian

spk_0 Grogu is successful course yeah and nowadays it's it's not even like you know you could have a great

spk_0 opening weekend but if you have a drop off in that second weekend boy they're all about that drop

spk_0 off yeah yeah well that's the best with with fantastic for especially you know that could that

spk_0 can make or break the future of any film franchise these days you know that just you got to have

spk_0 the legs if you could get that successful second weekend that will ensure then you have the

spk_0 legs and and your history will be bright but fantastic for didn't experience that and I think the

spk_0 future is bleak for fantastic for as a standalone right right of course I ranted and raging about

spk_0 that or hey speaking of Marvel uh Eva Mendes the lovely Eva Mendes who was the ghost writer's

spk_0 girlfriend in the original Nicholas Cage ghost writer for oh I forgot about that movie cheese

spk_0 oh that's a that's a guilty pleasure of mine that is a guilty pleasure of mine that you would have

spk_0 believed ghost writer movie I loved that movie when it came out I sat there in the theater with a

spk_0 big you know what eating grin on my face the whole time I was watching that thing but um it's

spk_0 it's rumored that Eva Mendes who is Ryan Gosling's girlfriend long time girl very

spk_0 she is rumored to be starring in star war starfighter as his on-screen wife so she

spk_0 walking that's nice as his wife she's not done much acting and like the last dozen years she's kind

spk_0 of like semi-retired at this point but uh when Star Wars comes a knock and you know you got

spk_0 you got to answer that call so uh that's about it as far as good rumors I think nothing's

spk_0 a good room it seems uh way out of whack or out of line right it all seems plausible right very

spk_0 plausible yeah very plausible the only other uh it's a behind the scenes rumor I have uh the film

spk_0 is being shot by Oscar winning cinematographer Claudio Miranda and Claudio won an Oscar for life

spk_0 of pie Claudio also shot the curious case of Benjamin Button Tron Legacy Top Gun Maverick

spk_0 and the recent F1 the movie so you're gonna get some real talented guy behind the camera and

spk_0 you know uh that's something that shouldn't be overlooked when it comes to some of the uh more

spk_0 shoddy shot star wars things that we've seen at least in streaming you know right like like the

spk_0 acolyte could have really used a Claudio Miranda but uh they're they're you know half a billion dollars

spk_0 went elsewhere who knows where it went elsewhere yeah so that star wars starfighter set the hit

spk_0 theaters on May 28th 2027 we'll be there all right okay well what also has uh people talking right

spk_0 now is Asoka season two uh Jim last we heard was that it was in front of cameras and we're thinking

spk_0 that we're gonna see maybe as you were speculating a late 2026 release for this still TBD on what

spk_0 ramifications this could have for other projects the theatrical I think a lot of people we've

spk_0 been talking about a little bit tonight what impact this might have on Mandalorian and Grogu we know

spk_0 they take place at the same time period there's opportunity for cross promotion of characters and things

spk_0 um but what what what do we know exactly as far as Asoka season two because I'm not really seeing

spk_0 much in the headlines well as far as I know this week wraps up the end of principal photography

spk_0 last week they had a rap party Rosario Dawson was posting photos from it so you have to assume a lot

spk_0 of the major stars like Rosario have wrapped up principal photography there probably will be pick-up

spk_0 shoots you know in a studio somewhere down the road and but that's all we know is that it just

spk_0 wrapped or it is wrapping this week and there still is no word on when the series is gonna drop on

spk_0 Disney Plus but I'm speculating late summer early fall and uh one thing that was revealed at LA

spk_0 Comic Con during the Bryce Dallas Howard panel she she did confirm that she is going to be directing

spk_0 some episodes of Asoka season two and she just kind of discussed her overall feelings and vibes

spk_0 for the upcoming season two I just finished shooting two episodes this summer for Asoka season two

spk_0 oh it's so good it is so good it is beautiful it is thrilling it is adventurous it is romantic it is

spk_0 all the things that you want from an epic story and I adore Dave Filoni I would do anything

spk_0 for and with Dave Filoni he's an extraordinary and visionary and he's super funny and the guy

spk_0 what more star wars work and so yes I just just got to finish that up and working on the cut

spk_0 and it is it is just one of the greatest privileges and joys of of my life getting to play in that

spk_0 sandbox I love these guys you get like overly excited over nothing at the conventions

spk_0 all right let's try it Jim here you be that guy the movie has it's a Star Wars film it has

spk_0 it has lots of adventure excitement thrilling characters and it's the honor of my life to be attached

spk_0 to it I love that guy he's so easy to make happy oh he's so you know he said some conventions center

spk_0 beers so that's he at all the first statements we've actually heard from a creative regarding Asoka season

spk_0 two since Star Wars celebration Japan and we know Asoka season two is going to be focused on this

spk_0 big war of all wars with Grand Admiral Thrawn and the war is going to be in the war back in Star Wars

spk_0 yeah I mean when you think about the mix of potential combatants in this this battle you're you're

spk_0 talking about the new republic you're talking about Ezra you know yeah or a very you know almost

spk_0 Jedi almost Jedi I mean do we ever consider Ezra to be like a Jedi I mean is it you know I know a

spk_0 himself a Jedi I think that's the real question we need to ask well what is what is the requirement

spk_0 I mean growing up as a fan of the OT Yoda says to Luke then only then after you confront Vader

spk_0 a Jedi will you be and confront him you will there was no room for any doubt with Yoda yeah it's

spk_0 it's it's the concept of the Jedi trials yes which padwans go through and however the Jedi

spk_0 trials have never like really ever been defined you know almost seems like there is no definition

spk_0 for them it's it's like a case by case basis so for a Luca was confronting Vader yeah for

spk_0 for Ezra you know I mean writing a space whale into another galaxy might do the trick you know

spk_0 sure leading the charge against grandad Moral Thrawn in a galactic war maybe you know that

spk_0 that good enough for you Jedi council anything else I can do for you I like to think that Luke though

spk_0 was like okay in this long line of Jedi over thousands of years they had to go through these trials

spk_0 when you hear about them spoken in the in the prequel films and in the comics you think that it

spk_0 it's almost like an initiation of some sort yeah um and uh but Luke he has to kill his own father

spk_0 like it feels a little lopsided to me yeah right this seems a bit extreme what do you mean I can kill

spk_0 and everyone else is like running an obstacle course and Ezra wrote a whale into another galaxy

spk_0 that's easier than killing your own father and the emperor is already one you know you're

spk_0 laying that on me well if you're going to be a big baby about it then I suppose the emperor's one

spk_0 jeez could you put more pressure on a guy Luke you cannot be such a cry baby was

spk_0 and the emperor is already he says it was such disappointment and judgment I know then I

spk_0 can't kill my own father then I guess the movie's over right you're giving up all the good guys are

spk_0 left thanks Luke thanks for nothing we're late late a lot on me here thank you you're really dumping a lot

spk_0 on me here well then the impetus already you've said that five times now

spk_0 okay

spk_0 all right well here we go we do have a trailer to take a look at this is the brand new trailer for

spk_0 Star Wars visions this is uh volume three aka season three coming out on October 29th 2025

spk_0 that's not very long just a couple days before Halloween we'll be enjoying some brand new

spk_0 Star Wars and as always they dropped this all at once this isn't a a drip release nine new anime

spk_0 style short films and as we said earlier only a Japanese animation studios for this one some

spk_0 returning ones and some new participants as well three of the shorts will continue stories from

spk_0 the very first volume the duel the village bride and the ninth Jedi all receive follow-ups in

spk_0 volume three and as Jim mentioned to the Star Wars the ninth Jedi is going to have its own story it's

spk_0 gonna we don't know what it's going to be if it's going to be one season three episodes ten episodes

spk_0 twenty episodes but it's gonna have its own its own spin-off that's that's what we hear right

spk_0 and that's all we heard I mean we haven't heard anything about the series since Star Wars

spk_0 celebration Japan but I think that's fair because you want to get visions out there first before

spk_0 you start really hyping up things about a uh ninth Jedi series but from what I I can recall uh volume

spk_0 one Star Wars visions that uh ninth Jedi seemed to be the one short that really had some solid

spk_0 potential as far as taking the story into the future it's about these young force users who

spk_0 this one specific force user who found a stash of lightsabers and uh that drew the attention

spk_0 of all kind of force users across galaxy most of them uh kind of dipping their toe into the dark

spk_0 side of the force so that became a real challenge is the character was trying to kind of like unite

spk_0 Jedi and and uh the exact opposite happened she she got uh kind of scammed and uh had to deal with

spk_0 the fallout of all that the duel was that great black and white Jedi Ronan storm that's one that I

spk_0 thought would have ended up being and uh having a spin off yeah because we got some early scoop

spk_0 some insider scoop about the spin-offs series for visions and we thought based on the

spk_0 descriptions of things we were being told it was going to be that Ronan Jedi and also the the

spk_0 fact that the Ronan Jedi received some love uh via comic book that's a little comic book and a novel

spk_0 so we just saw well the next natural step forward for uh the Ronan Jedi would be his own series

spk_0 and it seemed like that would be the one I'd want to see the most but the the ninth Jedi story does

spk_0 I think it has a lot of potential it's got legs yes so we'll see how the second Ronan could have

spk_0 just been the same lone Jedi yeah meets a bad guy every episode um kicks his butt goes on to the

spk_0 next episode but you're right the ninth Jedi that was setting up a lot of things yeah yeah so they

spk_0 released a trailer uh I you know we don't need to go too in depth into it but let's just let it roll

spk_0 and uh and maybe react to some of the things we see going on here in the trailer for Star Wars

spk_0 Vision season three again opening up with the Ronan Jedi the black and white largely black and white

spk_0 there's color elements to it and then we see like all those little we've seen that before in

spk_0 Star Wars and the Clone Wars when Yoda goes on his Vision quest and he experiences these like

spk_0 luminous orbs that sort of around him so it's not really uncommon for us to see this in Star

spk_0 Wars we saw it in Clone Wars season six I'm just assuming that this is some sort of manifestation

spk_0 of the force these green glowing orbs that whatever this character is is encountering um I don't

spk_0 know you know what I see what I see in this shot is in addition to the orbs I see like bridges

spk_0 or a bridge this could be world between world stuff oh yeah like a wormhole like it's opened up

spk_0 in reality and you step through it it's like a force figure yeah yeah but you're right it's made

spk_0 up of these orbs but I definitely see like some sort of a bridge maybe that's cutting across

spk_0 possibly yeah well that's interesting we'll find out in a month that seems so bright with

spk_0 possibility so bright with possibilities all right we got to that looks like the razor crust

spk_0 a little bit yeah that's why we for a second I was like whoa is that the new crest but no it's

spk_0 now I mean why not a mandalorian anime I think that would be kick ass but it seems like it seems

spk_0 like these Star Wars visions anime studios are really locked into like ancient Jedi kind of stuff

spk_0 you know as opposed to original trilogy or what have you it's it's always about these ancient

spk_0 alternate reality Jedi and that gets a little tiresome after a while when you consider things

spk_0 like the mandalorian like the original trilogy like the battle between the empire and the rebels

spk_0 you know those are things that I would like to see exploited a little bit more than these random

spk_0 alternate ancient Jedi stories that stuff could also be off limits to the to the creators too

spk_0 maybe possibly yeah seems like there's so much potential oh is that a storm trooper here what was

spk_0 this oh some sort of trooper that's being true for you I guess you know I didn't see an armor

spk_0 as you caught peace and about like almost like he's being ripped apart here so we might get some

spk_0 stormtrooper action in here how about an anime about just stormtroopers yeah these are these are

spk_0 elements of Star Wars that I feel are just getting ignored by Star Wars visions as they obsess

spk_0 over just the Jedi elements and maybe that has something to do with the samurai yeah Japanese

spk_0 obsession with those stories and I mean I don't know if anime is often featuring like feudal Japan

spk_0 type elements I see a lot of boobs in my anime maybe we'll see some boobs in this

spk_0 house I would be down with that you know like an anime about Ula from Jabba's palace and her boobs

spk_0 you know yeah yeah or yarn she had like six boobs she had six boobs those anime so much you're

spk_0 gonna love this so much she's giant boobs okay and then all yeah this is very quintessential

spk_0 you know anime what do they call this chibi these chibi's or whatever with the little you know

spk_0 they've got that look yeah with the giant eyes yes and it looked like that character was in the

spk_0 cockpit oh now we're seeing something cool okay yeah we saw that yeah this is clearly a cockpit of

spk_0 I think some sort of a fighter because you've got the targeting going on that you can see in the

spk_0 reflection of it yeah maybe an X-wing yeah because if you look behind you can almost see the wings

spk_0 you know sort of I guess and then we are in there's a blaster battle in some sort of factory now

spk_0 Jim this looks like okay this looks to me like rebel fleet troopers a little bit

spk_0 oh like onboard the rebel blockade yeah and then then they're squaring off against I think some

spk_0 some troopers some stormtroopers okay then maybe we do that one that we saw earlier maybe we'll

spk_0 get some good old fashioned original trilogy elements in Star Wars vision season three in an

spk_0 anime style yeah so that's cool I love how you're zooming in on these particular elements of the trailer

spk_0 because that's something I certainly wasn't doing when I was watching it so yeah yeah a whole different

spk_0 perspective on it I love it and some sort of claw that's coming down so I don't know if they're

spk_0 in a shipyard or some sort of factories you know something like that right on yeah

spk_0 all right so this this definitely was getting people talking so this device like a how many blades

spk_0 does your lightsaber right it's it's this this while I counted probably about 10

spk_0 1234 56789 nine blade it's a nine-bladed device that like a gauntlet that slips over your wrist and then

spk_0 you can just point thrusted forward and it opens up like an umbrella and all of the different

spk_0 blades there's more I think there's more one two three four five six seven eight nine ten eleven

spk_0 twelve thirteen I count 13 blades on there and uh it's yeah it's and it looks like that's a twelack

spk_0 uh yeah wielding this I mean I don't know if we can call it a saber but it she does it's

spk_0 red-bladed and she does encounter someone attacking her with a saber blade so this is a

spk_0 two-on-ogge she's this is like augmenting her actual and this isn't something she's holding this

spk_0 is actually a part of her she's a mod well it could be something it could be something she slips her

spk_0 hand into that that's true it could be and it expands into all of these crazy saber blades and

spk_0 the saber blades look rather small to me like it but there are just so many of them it creates this

spk_0 this effect against the guy you know lunging at her with the blue saber it's almost impenetrable

spk_0 for the blue saber to get through all of those thirteen little mini red sabers so that'll be

spk_0 interesting to uh check out and I think that's the Jedi Ronin once again um I don't I'll see your

spk_0 two blades and I'll raise you eleven yeah because there were similar insane light saber devices

spk_0 in the original Jedi Ronin from Star Wars Vision season one yeah all right

spk_0 and then they name all the studios I know none of them none of them mean nothing to me logo

spk_0 here and here yeah if you're an anime freak I'm sure this means okay now now I can get into this

spk_0 all right we got x-wings yeah so this looks very similar to the old G4 Spattle of the planet show

spk_0 which was always it to me always was the one anime that felt very Star Wars inspired and I recall

spk_0 watching Battle of the Planets when I was a kid in the late 70s early 80s whenever I think it

spk_0 was early 80s when it dropped just getting off on the Star Wars vibes of the whole thing

spk_0 and now to see a very similar animation style being used to show off five six x-wing flying into

spk_0 what is surely some intense battle um that gives me a lot of hope that yeah we will see original

spk_0 trilogy stuff happening in Star Wars Vision season three once again so maybe it's all part of

spk_0 the same singular short or there will be some original trilogy vibes throughout the entire series

spk_0 I don't know but I love love love seeing x-wings in this anime style it looks so me too this this

spk_0 style actually gives me a little bit some flashbacks of the gendi tartekovsky series very simple lines

spk_0 um so yeah who also did samurai jack which clearly influenced my anime yes

spk_0 oh there's our uh we've seen this character before I believe haven't we oh is she the one

spk_0 from the the short that was called um the village bride now that one I like that didn't make

spk_0 an impact on me village bride but we're gonna see a sequel to that in Star Wars Vision season three

spk_0 so maybe she's wielding a yellow saber which is odd and interesting yeah we see some creature

spk_0 out on like a moss espa street uh no that's moss isle clearly because you see the starship

spk_0 behind her that you know the downed ship oh right yes yes so that's clearly moss isle maybe we'll

spk_0 go back to the cantina would it be fun to revisit the moss isle can'tina anime style I think so and

spk_0 I think it's a no-brainer well that character that you see whizzing around in the background I think

spk_0 that's the one that we saw earlier that we speculated was flying an x-wing when you had the targeting

spk_0 that's I'm just thinking that that's what it is and that the irony is going to be you're gonna

spk_0 see this this close-up of this helmeted face with the goggles and you're going to see the targeting

spk_0 computer and then it's going to be revealed that it's just a kid running around on some still a

spk_0 little speeder uh plain maybe oh okay like so like the visions we see of the x-wings and everything

spk_0 that's all in this kitchen and action yeah okay all right so Ronan's got a wookie check this out

spk_0 yeah this looks like that the Ronan with the black and white oh when you can see he's got an

spk_0 a wand back there oh geez yeah a couple of locks a couple of locks so Ewoks return you know it's so

spk_0 rare it would you think about Ewoks and their history in Star Wars despite being as well known as

spk_0 they are we've seen very few returns to the Ewok village since the TV films of the mid 80s

spk_0 yeah Ewoks have not really been featured at all in any sort of Star Wars animation or live action

spk_0 you know outside of the end of rises sky walker when you see break it and what for a second yeah

spk_0 for half a second but I mean here we see Ewoks actually like becoming part of a story I think you

spk_0 know an element within the the Star Wars Ronan empire not empire but yeah well we all got

spk_0 a few walk fever when we are at the forest moon festival and Kyle Newman was making all kinds of

spk_0 threats to make the third Ewok movie since you know it's got to be a trilogy we can't just leave

spk_0 it at two we got to have a knowing knowing Kyle as well as we do and understanding his passion drive

spk_0 an ambition I don't think he was blowing smoke at all I am eagerly anticipating the Kyle

spk_0 Newman helmed Ewok adventure three and it could be made for TV it's gonna be a hard R in the

spk_0 all right was this we got a snow planet here yep looks like maybe a snow planet with some

spk_0 northern lights yes and it's got a side car a side car a side car within our two unit writing

spk_0 shotgun I think that's a very cool image that is a cool concept orange haired pilots of this

spk_0 meter bike and yeah so genders kicking ass in Star Wars this is some sort of droid looks like

spk_0 attacking with throwing a hockey puck at somebody who slices the hockey puck in half with a

spk_0 green lightsaber yeah I get general grievous vibes off of the character who throws the hockey puck

spk_0 yes it actually is a hockey puck is debatable but that's what it looks like maybe that's

spk_0 dirge next to him who knows he has kind of a dirgey look remember that guy we're definitely

spk_0 dealing with like some underworld the baby town numbers hunting a Jedi and I predict in order 66

spk_0 storyline uh-tax to this imagery here so yeah all right we have someone waking up and uh

spk_0 someone scaling a mountain here with a green lightsaber and what looks like vastly incredible

spk_0 animation oh yeah spinning around wild on sabers slicing down and here we see the studios once

spk_0 again we're responsible for all of this very anime looking style of these two characters kicking

spk_0 down a door straight leged uh- and powerful maybe want to droid here possibly warriors vibes by

spk_0 that there's that razor crust ship again oh interesting look at you zooming in on this stuff we

spk_0 really get to see some character detail here obviously a droid or a cyborg of some type with

spk_0 someone else wearing a mask over her nose and mouth and she's got to bear midriff very very

spk_0 Padme style with a big kick to the door and uh uh uh there's uh that razor crust

spk_0 ask ship again obviously involved in some sort of space battle then we see a trio of characters

spk_0 riding in a speeder looking very star wars I would say very anime yes but very star wars

spk_0 yeah very star wars again this might be happening on moss icely in more icely this this this definitely

spk_0 looks like Luke's model of the land speeder yeah yeah definitely definitely vibes of that

spk_0 and then they they're going off right back to entelman Louise look at this yeah here they go

spk_0 they do entelman Louise right off the ground all right interesting now this is it this looks like

spk_0 something out of uh I don't know justice league animation or something this looks like uh you know

spk_0 Lex Luthor's underground or underwater ship um but it's a space vessel yeah it's um yeah it's

spk_0 it looks star warsie to me kind of like a tifiter without the solar panels but instead

spk_0 there's a problem center and then there's these like this eight shooter cannon on either side

spk_0 where the solar panels would be and they're obviously shooting off pro ton torpedoes at whatever target

spk_0 when I saw this I immediately thought oh we're underwater but no no this is just we're

spk_0 we're not in space we're in orbit of uh or in uh atmosphere rather of some planet okay there's

spk_0 that old lady again from the land speeder yeah fucking a wall an explosion goes off

spk_0 nine epic stories what's going on here star destroyer coming out of hyperspace that's probably

spk_0 the most beautiful shot of the whole thing we get about three frames of it in the actual trailer

spk_0 Jesus doesn't even look like animation this looks like they took it right out of uh right out of

spk_0 the movie yeah looks great wow so I'll kind of scrambling around going on here with various

spk_0 characters all right let's just let it roll and get to the other thing because we got we got I got

spk_0 to talk about the landalore in this of course I mean we're kind of out of time we see some ad ads

spk_0 yeah yeah yeah yeah that are two units October 29th is when the show debuts some of this animation looks

spk_0 absolutely stunning and beautiful more Ewoks in the Ronan Jedi Ewoks sounds too yeah they're

spk_0 classic Ewoks sounds so there's a lot to look forward to in this show we're seeing all kind of

spk_0 great elements of Jedi versus dark side or light side versus dark side more Jedi Ronan

spk_0 lots of action the animation in some of these are so kind of rich and then other and then

spk_0 other times it looks like very flat 2d animation and traditional anime style so I think we're

spk_0 going to be getting a variety of different kind of animation tone and style and uh how it all

spk_0 comes together as we watch all nine episodes back to back to back um you know that that's the real

spk_0 trick is is trying to make this whole thing flow to be one nice viewing experience as opposed to

spk_0 watching it in piecemeal where you say oh I watch one I'll get back to the rest later you know I

spk_0 think it works most effectively if it flows as a great compilation of Star Wars stories so

spk_0 I look for things like that you know the way they roll it all out I anticipate it'll be very

spk_0 similar to season one I will bet you anything the Ronan Jedi will be episode one of season three

spk_0 it is like the Ronan Jedi was episode one of season one and it is they're actually called the

spk_0 dual payback and the original was just called the dual so yeah we're we're going to be seeing a

spk_0 little bit of renson repeat with this particular series but yeah I think that might benefit it

spk_0 a little bit because I don't think we'll be going into it blindly as viewers like we did with season

spk_0 one I there's yeah looks like the three follow ups will be the first three episodes of volume three

spk_0 the dual paid back the lost ones which is a continuation of the village bride and then the ninth

spk_0 Jedi child of hope which is the follow up to the ninth Jedi and then the rest of them appear to be

spk_0 brand new characters new things Jim one that you might be interested in they said uh this last one

spk_0 this is black it's a psychedelic experimental piece centered on the psyche of an imperial storm

spk_0 trooper blending visuals and music so psychedelic baby all going into the head of an imperial storm trooper

spk_0 earlier I did say I was kind of pining for an anime story just focused on the storm troopers

spk_0 yep we're gonna get it you drop a little psychedelic into it some good jams

spk_0 sign me up sign me up my friend that's right that's right so can we get to a little bit of Lego rebuild

spk_0 the galaxy too because there's a few momentous things that happened with this silly I mean

spk_0 really this this Lego star wars rebuild the galaxy it's just as with all the Lego shows

spk_0 they're silly they're childish and they're a ton of fun and there are some you know real nice little

spk_0 nods to deep cuts in the history of star wars and uh things to satisfy us as fans sometimes I think

spk_0 it gets a little too cutesy it gets a little too meta it gets a little too subtle where

spk_0 oh yeah hey look this is a star wars thing looking at old boy star wars dot dot dot dot yeah it's like

spk_0 look oh my god I see a few star wars thing the worst part about it for me was when Mark Hamill

spk_0 says as Luke Skywalker says may the force be with you

spk_0 and then the the character I think is dev oh I mean the dialogue on the script must have

spk_0 read like this squee squee he said it he said the thing and it's like really are we gonna just

spk_0 like continue to diminish any sort of integrity star wars has by being so self-aware and meta

spk_0 about everything that's going on that you have to you have to do that kind of schlocky stick

spk_0 when it comes to a great line like may the force be with you I mean why are we gonna strip all the

spk_0 relevance of that line away from from the saga squee he said it he said the thing oh boy oh boy

spk_0 I'm so sick of that kind of crap hola that gets dumped on star wars and throughout pop culture in

spk_0 general you know yeah the meta this is this is what you call um just some good old fashioned star wars

spk_0 content that's what this was for me it was it was not we're not talking about

spk_0 meaningful contributions to the saga this is having fun just like Lego does that's what

spk_0 Lego does you dump all the toys out and mix it up and the whole rebuild the galaxy concept is

spk_0 is sort of inverting things um and uh yes there were there were there were some moments that I found

spk_0 to be very clever very funny um but for the most part it was it kind of lost I think some of the

spk_0 charm of the first one I thought and when when I think back to how we felt about the first one

spk_0 you know what was that that was well just a year ago the first rebuild the galaxy it was charming

spk_0 and like they had a real story to tell and this one felt more like your typical Lego where it's

spk_0 like how many gags can we throw in and one liners and so I think that it just fell into itself a

spk_0 little bit too much instead of you know some of the the charm of of the characters that they

spk_0 introduced and I like that you know the two brothers had to work together I like that there was

spk_0 there was a redemption angle um but it was just thrown in the midst of just uh just too many references

spk_0 and just too many um the too fast self-aware was a great way to put it you know he did just

spk_0 said the thing that when I I actually wrote a note about that when I hated that that oh god

spk_0 I mean it's just like that sucks me out of it more than anything is the self-awareness about what's

spk_0 happening what we're seeing and making a joke of it all and I say to myself really my 50 years of

spk_0 fandom has just been boiled down to some stupid joke to you people they gotta watch that they

spk_0 gotta watch that because that is I don't think that's intent that their intent but I definitely

spk_0 think it's certainly a way to interpret it yes it's a bad angle it's a bad angle and I'm getting

spk_0 kind of tired of it too because it's been driven into the ground way too much but let's talk about

spk_0 some really momentous things that happened as a result of Lego's Star Wars rebuild the galaxy

spk_0 season two uh the big thing to me is that uh after years of us accepting the unofficial nickname for

spk_0 Grogu baby Yoda finally gets set on screen in a Star Wars production I mean sure it's not exactly

spk_0 something I consider hard cannon but and and short Lego gets away with whatever they want

spk_0 which is such you know really when you start thinking about that that's such a weird thing

spk_0 it's such an anomaly when it comes to the tight grip that Lucasfilm has had on Star Wars all

spk_0 these years with their story group and all of the the levels of of clearance you have to go through

spk_0 just to get anything to happen I heard a story recently about a Star Wars comic book writer

spk_0 talking about how he featured Luke Skywalker fishing in a story you know just a it's like a

spk_0 couple panels the guys fishing right and they said you can't do that Lucasfilm said that to him

spk_0 this was prior to the release of the last Jedi and it was because Luke goes fishing in the last Jedi

spk_0 they told him he couldn't feature Luke Skywalker fishing in the pages of a Star Wars comic book

spk_0 only a week and tell the story of Luke fishing the fans have waited 45 years to see a character who

spk_0 grew up on a planet completely covered by deserts fishing how dare you steal our thunder that's

spk_0 our big splash yes we're going to invert your expectations does it get you now fishing live in

spk_0 in a lot of water the irony right but I'm just using my water exactly but I'm just using that as

spk_0 an example of like how tight-fisted they've been with all of these storytelling oh this

spk_0 said I I was thinking tight-assed they've been well I mean you know whatever maybe the

spk_0 fish is up the ass who know but the thing is is that I've been told this I mean I can think

spk_0 back to a conversation I had with a Lucasfilm story group member who I won't name back in 2014

spk_0 and he told me flying out Lego can do whatever they want yep and I was like how why I never

spk_0 given an explanation why Lego has this exclusivity to basically twist Star Wars inside out and do

spk_0 whatever they want with it well I I figured out the reason is probably you know man hard cash

spk_0 but it just seems it's it's it's a real they even said well that's Lego canon

spk_0 Lego canon yeah and that's just a weird inconsistency with the brand management of Star Wars

spk_0 no matter how you boil it down it's an odd strange bizarre inconsistency with the way they

spk_0 manage this stuff but one exception so an exception yeah so I just want to point out though

spk_0 that after all of these years of us calling him baby Yoda after John Faber was gone on the record

spk_0 frustrated he's not Yoda why do you call him baby Yoda well we call him that because he's a baby

spk_0 Yoda because we don't have a name for Yoda species exactly they're all Yoda's we even called

spk_0 cattle look it's a female Yoda right before we knew she was Yadol which I guess we should have

spk_0 guessed that she so so finally finally finally they they incorporate baby Yoda into the dialogue

spk_0 of a Star Wars production and in this case it's Lego Star Wars rebuild the galaxy season two

spk_0 and here is that magic moment when baby Yoda finally gets said not once but twice by a character

spk_0 in the Star Wars production albeit Lego did you hear that what is that thing

spk_0 oh is that a baby Yoda hey little one you're so cute you are with your with your big old eyes

spk_0 and your big old ears and your green wrinkly old man skin he's so cute I can't take it I can't

spk_0 even meditate in peace what is going on out here we found a baby Yoda the baby's name is Grogo baby

spk_0 you didn't I mean who can resist that face

spk_0 that was the best line in the whole show was the babies the baby's name is Grogo baby yes of course

spk_0 the landalorian making a debut voice by Billy D Williams which is so brilliant and that line

spk_0 that he delivers on his debut is like so Kervassie soaked you know is

spk_0 so you know it's just Kervassie soaked it's called 45 infuse

spk_0 yeah I've I've stumbled across Billy D Williams at conventions when he's been in that exact

spk_0 frame of mind so man I was so great to hear Billy D Williams once again reprise his role is

spk_0 Landau Kervassie and as the landalorian with the helmet off they they don't fall around he's not a

spk_0 young landau this is an older landau this is appropriate for the age of the voice actor Billy D

spk_0 Williams baby so yeah and with that we have the return of the Billy D quote of the week

spk_0 this is Billy D Williams landau Kervassie it's time for the quote of the week

spk_0 all right I don't have to ask you what you brought for us this week we know what you brought it's

spk_0 not just a clip from rebuild the galaxy but a little montage right that's right baby I got a

spk_0 Billy D Williams montage of course Billy D Williams return the voice the role of Landau Kervassie

spk_0 and this time in the guise of the landalorian for Lego Star Wars rebuild the galaxy so I took

spk_0 every line of dialogue he has and by the way the standout highlight moment of the entire four

spk_0 episode series is the landalorian and Billy D Williams because it leads into this really action

spk_0 pack sequence aboard the Lego Death Star which I think was just what I mean I frozen my tracks

spk_0 when that moment happened I just thought it was really a great very wonderful exciting

spk_0 energetic moment in the entire thing and of course you have Billy D as the landalorian it

spk_0 actually throughout the whole thing so what I did was I took every line of dialogue from

spk_0 Billy D Williams as the landalorian I took it down into the rebel force radio sound lab

spk_0 completely isolated all of the lines of dialogue it's almost like as if we're in the recording session

spk_0 with Billy D Williams himself as he is bringing the landalorian to life baby and it's it's a really great

spk_0 and very close look and listen to the brilliant voice acting to Billy D Williams it well how old is

spk_0 he like 85 years old now and he's still active and he's still going into the recording studio and laying

spk_0 down such choice lines of dialogue like he did for the landalorian so check this out I'm the landalorian

spk_0 I'll be the administrator of this beat down the baby's name is Grogu baby cute isn't he I mean who can

spk_0 resist that face this is the way my way let's get them on the ship baby sorry to interrupt a

spk_0 groovy party but it's time for us to collect our money you paid for the best and we delivered

spk_0 nothing we ate more than a slimy double crossing no good swindler this is not the way

spk_0 this deals get a worse all the time isn't it baby not bad kid if you're ever on landalore look us up

spk_0 you ever party with a mythosor we know the way the lorean does that's baby the price of admission

spk_0 right there you ever party with a mythosor that's right I did like I did like the Snoke pit that made

spk_0 me laugh that made me chuckle because Snoke doesn't get a whole lot of love when it comes to some of

spk_0 these parodies and I think he's just ripe for parody especially with what a punk he ended up being

spk_0 in the man you know that was the biggest when you think back on Snoke that was the biggest troll

spk_0 that has ever been trolled two fans in a film and that character was nothing but a troll

spk_0 Ryan Johnson was set up with such a softball to drive out of the park because all he had to do

spk_0 in the middle of the last Jedi just Snoke reveals himself to be Darth Plagueis

spk_0 they said yeah I you know because we knew Darth Plagueis could cheat death and he could save

spk_0 he thought he could save the people he loved but he could only apply everlasting life to

spk_0 himself you know right that was like the only thing he could do so I mean it's all been like

spk_0 it was perfectly set up the foundation for Snoke to have that reveal as Darth Plagueis

spk_0 it was the biggest error since Bill Buckner in the 1986 World Series when he left that

spk_0 let that ball go through his legs I mean it was just it was Ryan Johnson man Ryan and and

spk_0 everyone at Lucasfilm was just like good with that you know yeah Pablo was good with that

spk_0 afraid to say anything they don't want to rock the boat oh Kathy Kennedy likes it oh well I

spk_0 better step in line then you know it's like nobody raised the red flag or anything well there's

spk_0 other directions we can go with this did anybody say anything right anybody ask Ryan Johnson for

spk_0 a second draft I mean did that I mean did that even happen the answer is no it didn't happen

spk_0 now because we were told everything that Ryan did was perfect it was perfect he was the perfect

spk_0 the last of the matter he was the perfect director he was the perfect writer he was the perfect

spk_0 person to deliver that story so much so that before the film had even seen the light of day

spk_0 we got to give this guy a whole trilogy he can't bottle his Star Wars genius into one film

spk_0 we got to give him a whole trilogy well and I don't think anything is is a further evidence to

spk_0 present to the courtroom about the absolute disconnection that the makers of the sequel trilogy had

spk_0 with Star Wars and the fan base and logic I mean it was all just thrown right out the window

spk_0 and a lot of hubris was fueling this because JJ Abrams turned in the force awakens which

spk_0 turned into a huge money maker but everybody thought that they were so brilliant for what JJ

spk_0 developed everyone at Lucasfilm thought they were the brilliance behind that meanwhile JJ

spk_0 produced the the force awakens really away from Lucasfilm with bad robot that's a bad robot

spk_0 production more than a Lucasfilm production and don't let anybody tell you otherwise so Lucasfilm

spk_0 wanted to take it all back with Ryan Johnson and that's why JJ I mean really when it was first

spk_0 conceived JJ was going to direct the entire trilogy yeah and that's the way it should have been

spk_0 but Lucasfilm got frosty because JJ isolated himself during the production of the film with bad

spk_0 robot so they wanted to take it all back and look at Ryan Johnson oh boy he moved out to San

spk_0 Francisco and he comes to Lucasfilm every other week to have meetings with the story team and

spk_0 and with Kathy and so they can make it all this committee driven Star Wars dribble that doesn't

spk_0 connect to anything before or after it yet fans want to die on the last Jedi hill there are still

spk_0 those fans out there who insisted was the greatest thing that ever happened to Star Wars well guess

spk_0 what you guys the Star Wars is still trying to recover from the last Jedi so whatever you know I mean

spk_0 it is what it is you can't turn back time but there's still plenty of Star Wars projects in the

spk_0 work that might actually be able to add some substance to this equal trilogy right retroactively

spk_0 you can't turn back time but you can and should learn from the past so let's learn from it

spk_0 I also kind of liked pirate queen Amidala that was pretty fun oh they're rebuild the galaxy

spk_0 they really did enjoy that that death star that Lego death star thing though I was just like wow

spk_0 and talking about Moichin Dising that hits right as everyone is waiting to get their hands well not

spk_0 everyone those they can afford it are waiting to get their hands on that big death star set

spk_0 with thousand and some pieces by the way speaking of collecting something we didn't get a chance to talk

spk_0 to I don't know if you saw the news or heard the news we've been talking about it on our own Jedi

spk_0 council has bro officially increasing the prices on the two major lines of of Star Wars figures

spk_0 that's right so we've got a official 19 dollar and 99 set price point for the vintage collection

spk_0 and the black series that's from 1699 going up to 1999 and the black series going up

spk_0 also three bucks 2499 to 2799 yeah that's the death of that's the death of the industry right there

spk_0 I mean really $20 for a four inch figure man that is that ain't gonna happen and and there's

spk_0 gonna be so much stuff ending up in five below in allies because fans are not going to accept that

spk_0 so you know just be patient Star Wars fans don't jump on the new releases because there'll

spk_0 be plenty to go around in overstock trust me on that I'm a painful pride I'm not gonna pay

spk_0 you think I'm gonna pay 20 bucks for a three and three quarter inch figure I've been pushed

spk_0 to buy limits and it's not gonna happen yeah death of an industry and right right on the heels of

spk_0 the potential of these new movies these new stories a mando grogu film the potential for merchandise

spk_0 on that is is huge and you think you're gonna sell these little four inch figures for 20 bucks a

spk_0 bob I don't know I don't know seems they're gonna walk that back that's gonna be walked back I

spk_0 predict that yeah all right well hate to end on a sour note there is lots of exciting things look
