spk_0 All of the chefs seems kind of proud of what he was doing.

spk_0 I did see one person point out and I did have the, like, a little flit of that thought to where, like,

spk_0 a chef, if Klingons can be compared to, like, Viking culture, like, a culture of feasting

spk_0 and, like, food and drink is like big.

spk_0 I guess so.

spk_0 And anyone who can facilitate that to a great degree would probably be at least respected.

spk_0 I guess if we, I don't think they were doing this, but I think if it, if you do,

spk_0 like, allegorically compare them to Vikings, it makes more sense than the samurai they're constantly

spk_0 trying to compare them to.

spk_0 Or like, I think Ronald Moore just said they were both,

spk_0 each said they're right to combine them, Viking Klingons.

spk_0 Yeah.

spk_0 So, okay, in that case, we've also, I think maybe the closest we've seen to, like, an actual

spk_0 count of, like, their feasting culture was in that one, two-parter where, or went to that weird,

spk_0 little pocket planet where, oh yeah, there's like, oh, I'm getting the ambulance.

spk_0 Yeah, yeah.

spk_0 And it's like, hey, I actually killed this, this, this animal and we're going to cook it.

spk_0 Yeah, that's great.

spk_0 Yeah.

spk_0 And it was like, oh, we're going to cook that.

spk_0 Yeah, I guess so.

spk_0 But I do find it interesting that when I, I think, I think it's fun sing Klingon culture,

spk_0 but I never go, oh, I'd like to know more about it.

spk_0 I think it's fun singfranchi culture.

spk_0 And then I go, oh, I'd like to know more how this works.

spk_0 Like, I think I, it tickles my brain a bit more.

spk_0 Why do you think that is?

spk_0 I think part of it is that DS9 might be like structuring, doing a bit more of like,

spk_0 backstory structuring for what frangie really are like.

spk_0 Whereas with Klingons, their culture is kind of written as they go along.

spk_0 Like, they're not really like set up in exactly the same way in terms of like having.

spk_0 Like, I'm sure before DS9 started, they created like some sort of Bible for how the frangie work.

spk_0 Like, they created the rules of acquisition, you know?

spk_0 Like, so there's clearly some sort of...

spk_0 That's interesting. I mean, you don't think they did that for the Klingons as well.

spk_0 I feel like Klingons are written as they went along.

spk_0 I feel like they're written more like comic books.

spk_0 I mean, they have a whole language, right?

spk_0 Oh, you know what? At Comic Con San Diego, when I attended this, attended this year,

spk_0 I sat in on a panel with Ronald D. Moore.

spk_0 Oh, okay.

spk_0 He happened to mention during that panel that one of his first like major writing,

spk_0 like tasks as a, as a junior writer for TNG, or like,

spk_0 one of his most memorable first big things that he did do was writing a treatment for the Klingon

spk_0 like culture and how they are and how they think and like what the culture is like.

spk_0 Right.

spk_0 And so that was clearly after the fact because Ronald Moore joined mid TNG.

spk_0 So yeah, I think something like that.

spk_0 But he, he said how like, or they showed like clips of how the Klingons were depicted in TOS

spk_0 versus how they were in TNG and that Ronald Moore just kind of went over how, again, he like,

spk_0 that's where he said like pretty explicitly that he was just trying to,

spk_0 that he mostly was combining Viking and Samurai stuff.

spk_0 Yeah, that's clear.

spk_0 And yeah, and that's pretty obvious when you see it.

spk_0 Yeah, Ronald Moore joined in season three.

spk_0 His first spec script they accepted was the bonding.

spk_0 So and that is a Klingon culture centered episode because he wants the kid to bond with him

spk_0 and the bond.

spk_0 Oh, right.

spk_0 Yeah, yeah.

spk_0 Huh?

spk_0 Yeah.

spk_0 So that makes sense.

spk_0 Yeah.

spk_0 So that was like one of like his first major like tasks given to him.

spk_0 And he was like, oh, great.

spk_0 Like something to really sink my teeth into.

spk_0 Yeah.

spk_0 And I imagine then because they took much of the same team and then they were like,

spk_0 okay, let's work on DS9 now.

spk_0 They probably then flesh out the Frankie a lot before starting to write the episode.

spk_0 So I feel like that's why he feels like there's a lot more meat to bite on with

spk_0 Frankie culture DS9 because it feels like it's thought out.

spk_0 It's not avatar where you like look at the world building and you go, what?

spk_0 That doesn't make any sense.

spk_0 It's because it's built more visually at first that they build out the.

spk_0 Yeah, maybe there's an aspect of them trying to course correct for like, you know, what they did.

spk_0 Oh, absolutely.

spk_0 Did wrong in TNG.

spk_0 You know, it's kind of like, oh, this is our opportunity to make round characters, you know,

spk_0 with backgrounds.

spk_0 Well, especially with the Frankie now, you know, yeah,

spk_0 by making Quarka main cast member, they pretty much like made sure to assign themselves the

spk_0 task of like, we need to figure out for Rangie better than we did in TNG.

spk_0 Yeah, 100%.

spk_0 I mean, from the very first DS9 episode, they make Quarka look cool.

spk_0 Whereas like before the Frankie were like little gremlins who were like, making

spk_0 of the fashion on it was on point all throughout this episode.

spk_0 Oh, yeah, everyone's yeah, everybody.

spk_0 Yeah, all that.

spk_0 But that'll be a thing with DS9 in general moving.

spk_0 Do you remember like even in like the siege, like Cisco was wearing like this really fun,

spk_0 like orange blazer as he was like, it is civilian quote-unquote here.

spk_0 Well, like when I was a kid, I couldn't appreciate any of that at all.

spk_0 But like now that I'm watching it proper, like the outfits are cool.

spk_0 I like.

spk_0 Yeah, they have fun little outfits.

spk_0 But if we go to the discord rating, imagine Nathan, unfortunately, is traveling this week.
