Today I want to talk about AI again, but I want to talk about how if you want to show

up on AI search engines like chat GPT perplexity, maybe I don't know if you're using iPhones
spk_0
like Siri or something like that, you want to be showing up, okay?

If you want to be showing up on these AI tools as a business, you need to understand
spk_0
the basics of SEO, the fundamentals, the same tools that SEOs or the same sort of strategies
spk_0
that SEOs use are the same strategies that will get you showing up on AI.
spk_0
It is good marketing that gets you showing up on these AI tools.
spk_0
Now, as a small business, you do need to be thinking about AI and sort of how the search
spk_0
landscape is changing, how we're going to be fed information is changing.
spk_0
But that doesn't mean SEO is going away because we're always going to need to have tools
spk_0
that point is in the direction of the businesses or services that we want to find.
spk_0
So SEO is just not even changing, it's just how the information is being served to us
spk_0
that is changing, okay?
spk_0
So for instance, for me, all my clients every month I look at Google Analytics and I can see
spk_0
that the traffic from chat GPT is rising and I'm not doing anything different, okay?

The same strategies I'm using for SEO are helping my clients show up on AI tools.

It's just so crucial that you understand that you don't have to be doing anything different.

Good SEO, not trying to manipulate it with sort of spammy back links or black hat tactics,
spk_0
black hat tactics are when you sort of try to game the system.

No, good SEO is good marketing.

So you want to understand your customers, you need to know your product inside out or your service
spk_0
and then you need to sort of figure out how can I get this information in a way that's helpful
spk_0
to my target audience so they want to use our service.

Good marketing is good SEO, okay?

So what are the fundamentals of SEO that you need to learn in order to be showing up in AI tools?

So number one, you need to know your audience, okay?
spk_0
You need to know where they're hanging out as in on the internet, not in real life.
spk_0
So you can then figure out, okay, these are the platforms that I want to produce content on
spk_0
or sort of grow my brand on. So I might be linked in if you're more of a B2B business
spk_0
or it might be Instagram or it might be TikTok, if you're a B2C,
spk_0
well that's just the age demographic of your business or service.

So you need to know where your audience is hanging out and understand your audience.

What are their pain points? How can we help them?
spk_0
What are they thinking about when they want our service?
spk_0
What drives them to search for a business like ours?
spk_0
So you need to understand your audience and then number one, you also really need to
spk_0
understand your product or service, which sounds silly to say if it's your product or service.
spk_0
But what I mean by that is kind of coming to keywords, right?
spk_0
Because often what I find is when someone works in the industry and they're an expert in their
spk_0
industry, they're using technical terms for words that the average person who might need that
spk_0
service doesn't yet know the word for that service. So that's why you really need to understand
spk_0
your product from all angles as sort of all the keywords around it to then when you're then
spk_0
writing about your product or creating your product pages, your services pages, you're using the
spk_0
correct keywords so that people can find you. So keyword research is still crucial for SEO and
spk_0
AI visibility as well. Okay. Good keyword research is fundamental and I teach you how to do this
spk_0
in my course, the beginners SEO course. I shouldn't really rename it now to be the beginners SEO
spk_0
and AI visibility course because the same strategies are what's going to get you showing up
spk_0
on AI tools. Okay. You need to understand your audience, you need to understand your product
spk_0
and you need to be able to find the right keywords to describe your product or service and then put
spk_0
them on your website. Those two are fundamental, right? Then you still need to be showing AI
spk_0
search tools that you are on authority in your subject. Just the same way you do with Google and
spk_0
do that, you can do it with blogging or with long form content. So for me, I chose a podcast actually
spk_0
because I just knew I wasn't writing enough but blogging is a great way and now you've got AI tools
spk_0
to help you create really great content because the content needs to be worth quoting. When I say
spk_0
quoting, I mean AI tools are pulling from content from businesses and then putting in front of people
spk_0
when they're asking questions and they're citing that business. So the content you create and this
spk_0
could just be say an FAQ page or helpful information about your product or service but you need to be
spk_0
making great content on your website that AI tools will want to cite from and that also means you
spk_0
need to structure them in the same way you would a well done SEO blog post as in a blog post,
spk_0
that's optimized SEO. So use headings, use FAQs, use concise summaries,
spk_0
yeah list is what I really helpful, you need to sort of be thinking, okay I want this to be
spk_0
cited by an AI tool so I need to be writing in a clear way. So a great way of learning how to do
spk_0
this is again learning how to structure a blog post. This is something else I teach in my course
spk_0
in the final modules of that content strategy. Learning how to create unique really great content
spk_0
and the AI tools will want to quote. Then once you've done that you need to know how to structure
spk_0
your actual product pages and services pages as well which you know again it's just the basics of
spk_0
SEO, how can you sort of make your product pages SEO optimized and that means if they're SEO
spk_0
optimized they are also AI search visibility optimized as well. I hate all these terms geo,
spk_0
a, I wish we just all decide on one right now. Okay and then this is when I talk about a lot
spk_0
on this podcast and it's something I really focus on at the end of the course as well as the
spk_0
ongoing SEO strategy is all about building a brand. Building authority, showing Google,
spk_0
showing chat GPT that your business is a trusted business in your industry that people like it
spk_0
and this is brand building. Okay so this is what I'm talking about you need to know how your
spk_0
audience hangs out so you can build up a presence on LinkedIn and get your business cited in
spk_0
local publications. So that means sort of getting involved in the local community building up a
spk_0
social media profile. Focus also on authority signals on your website so showing Google and chat
spk_0
GPT that you are a real person behind your business and your linking say if you've got like
spk_0
qualifications in your industry linking to those qualification websites on your industry talking
spk_0
you're having an about us page which is truthful, pit trip you on there as well. You really need to
spk_0
be building a brand. Try and get on podcast just you know and you think it might be really small
spk_0
but every single mention on the web is being crawled by AI tools okay it's not just about
spk_0
actual backlinks it's every single mention of your business helps. Sorry my screen just went back

with black my laptop. Yeah so it's all about the fundamentals of SEO is what's going to get your
spk_0
business showing up on AI. So I just can't stress it enough okay. Understand the fundamentals
spk_0
of SEO and you will increase your traffic from chat GPT, Claude you know whichever sort of AI
spk_0
tool you like to use okay it's all about the understanding audience the keyword research
spk_0
and then creating great helpful content but making sure it's structured in a way that can be
spk_0
understood by chat by bots crawling on the website and then focusing on your brand building your
spk_0
social media and that is how you will show up everywhere and sort of safeguard your future as a
spk_0
