Speaker A I think so much of, you know, our inspiration comes from looking back to the way things are made. Number one, I think the integrity in pieces is so great.
Speaker B We'll probably be leaking things here and there because we're so excited. But we're just going to get into our favorite five, six of them. Ready? Mercury. You would want that.
Speaker A I do too. It's a rock star thing. This is the pair of leopard shoes in your outfit or the jacket or this is the scene maker. Hello, guys. Welcome to Dear Alice. We've got another episode for you today. We are launching a new collection and we're so giddy about it, we wanted to get on here and tell you all of the stories behind the pieces. So we're just four days away. If you guys want early access to that, we always give our insiders at least a two day head start so you guys get first pick before any of this stuff sells out. It's gonna be a good one.
Speaker B I think it's gonna sell out.
Speaker A I'm so excited for you guys to get to see these. So you can sign up insider program@alisanehome.com just head to the Inspo tab and select Insider program to be the first to shop the newest collection. You're going to get the latest updates and you're always going to have early access to any of the sales. So if you're new here, Dear Alice is obviously the podcast, but the name of our store is actually Alice Lane, which I know is confusing because you might be going to your Instagram trying to find a Dear Alice handle and it doesn't exist. It's only here but for the podcast. So Alice Lane is the name of our store, Alice Lane Home Collection. And then we also have an interior design firm called Alice Lane Interior Design, which Sue hall is the president of design. And you're working on all of the really big, beautiful dream jobs that come our way. Remodels and full, full blown ground up construction to finishing.
Speaker B So yep, that's what we do.
Speaker A So that's Sue's and then Corey is. Corey, your title is VP of Product development and Special Projects.
Speaker C There you go. Yes.
Speaker A So Corey is helping develop the new products with me. I'm the creative director here at Alice Lane and we are designing these new pieces. We're going through development with them and many of them that we're going to talk about today are like two years in the making. So this is not for the week. At heart, this is not quick and easy, but this is really something we're passionate about. Not just getting, but getting it really, really right. And we're just so excited to finally show you what has come off the line after years that we've gotten right. Just the pitch on things, the sit on things, the upholstery, the details, finishes, the.
Speaker C Yeah, yeah, everything.
Speaker A Lots of communication, lots of time, lots of traveling just to get it just right. And here we are. It feels like Christmas morning. So today's episode is all about the brand new collection called Modern Heirlooms. And we're going to be talking about. We don't have a ton of. We're not going to go over every piece, but we're going to give you like our top five or six.
Speaker C Yeah. And maybe before we get into that, like, why did you want to call this collection Modern Heirlooms?
Speaker A Yeah, that is a great question. I think so much of, you know, our inspiration comes from looking back to the way things are made. Number one, I think the integrity in pieces is so great. But also I love to see what, what silhouettes they did and what take we can have on it. It might just even be like a toggle on a lamp or a finial or the base on a sofa or the way that leg just tapers off and ooh, look at that finish. And so we, we're often looking to things of the past. Like, you'll see our Lulu sconces actually was a pair of sconces too, and I saw once and beautiful pink, like little delicate ballet slipper of a thing. So we, we've worked on that one for about two years to get it right. We did go with pink and with this beautiful beveled edge. Any pieces really inspire us from the past. And so we're taking, we're, we're doing a fresh take on these heirloom pieces. Quality wise, I still feel like they're heirloom pieces because you'll be able to hand them down. They're all really, really well made with the highest possible construction that we can do it in. But I think the silhouettes and the look back are things that keep us feeling fresh but also make us feel like we're not playing in too hard to a trend. You know what I mean?
Speaker C Yeah.
Speaker A They really are pieces that just will give you that personal style and I think make you really stand out and make you interesting because it's not the same stuff that you're going to find on a Target shelf or, you know, at HomeGoods or something like that. It's just things that are really like, you feel like you bought Them at a vintage store. They're so fun and interesting. So it's kind of our take on that calling them modern heirlooms.
Speaker C Couldn't agree more.
Speaker B I love them.
Speaker C Well, should we jump into it?
Speaker B Let's get into you guys. There are just under 20 things in this, right? Under 20.
Speaker C Yep.
Speaker B Pieces in the collection. And again, like just said we'd love to tell you about all of them and we'll probably be leaking things here and there because we're so excited. But we're just going to get into our favorite five, six of them. And like all the inspiration. I always love hearing the stories behind the product. So we're just going to deep dive on each one of these of our favorites and yeah, and I really want to start with the vases. Yes, I love them. You know how I love to forge. Yes, I love a vase.
Speaker A This collection is actually full of vases. I think we're in. Well, not, I think my foraging heart. We are. Yeah.
Speaker B Foragers.
Speaker A We are in entertaining season and so this is where we're inviting people over. Or even a set of vases would be a beautiful hostess gift for someone entertaining. And so different scales, different personalities. But the ones that are sitting on our table right now, this is a set of three. Those of you that are watching on Spotify or YouTube, you can see these sitting on our table table. If not, we'll describe them for you. But this, this set that we have here on the table, I think these are perfectly scaled for a dining room table because they're not so big that you can't still see across the table and talk to somebody. This could be something sort of low and weeping or a taller flower coming out. But this set of three, we've got a butter yellow vase. The silhouettes on these are really, really beautiful. And these are hand blown, really thick walled. And then they have this really beautiful rib detail coming over the top that almost looks like it's been caged. This beautiful colored hand blown vase. And the cages on it are clear glass. So they're attached to the body. But it just gives it some dimension and adds I think a lot of interest. So colors are butter yellow. We've got this really pretty almost toffee color. Yeah.
Speaker B Kind of again it's that ambiguous color where it's feels so one of a kind because of like how it's coloring. Even like the yellow like the butter of it. Like the combination of the two. The two warms with this cutie pie. Little periwinkle.
Speaker A Yeah.
Speaker B I love so much I think the.
Speaker A Combination of colors is so, so great. And you could easily, like, this could easily be Thanksgiving with this sort of deep and honey toffee color and the butter yellow. And throwing the blue in there, I think keeps it really fresh. And then, like you said, forage. Do you just going out to the trees and just putting live wild greens in it. Or if you're more formal, I think flowers. This would also be very, very pretty.
Speaker B And they're strong enough, the wall on them strong enough to hold branches.
Speaker A Yeah, honestly, totally.
Speaker B We can go low, we can go high.
Speaker A Even, like this little toffee one. Like, if you were just to go to Trader Joe's and get a bunch of chamomile and put that in there and put that on a nightstand for your guest, you know, or for the hostess so she'll sleep well after Thanksgiving night. I just think that is so beautiful. These will be sold as a set, but also individually and just stunning. Everybody walks by our desk in product development room. We've had these in there for the last six months or so. And they're like, are those ours? Are those coming? And we're like, yes, they're almost here. And the reaction has been so, so fun to see.
Speaker B Feels so artful.
Speaker A Yeah.
Speaker B So I love them. Like, even without flowers in them. Like, again, I look at them, I'm like, okay, let's redo the mantle. Like, I love them. I don't. I like, you can have them naked without flowers super easily. And they look incredible. The profile of them, like you just part of a still life painting. Like, ridiculous.
Speaker A Yeah.
Speaker B So good. Anyway, we've been crushing on this for a while.
Speaker C Should we go to the next piece, which is probably my favorite piece in the collection. It's called the Lulu sconce.
Speaker B Oh.
Speaker C And yeah, like Jess mentioned, this is derived from a vintage sconce that you guys saw. Were you at Market? Is that where you.
Speaker A Yeah. So when. When sue and I go to market. When sue and I go to market, we usually will go a day or two early because there' some really fantastic vintage stores in the south, and so we like to just hit those before we hit market. And that's actually become, like, our highlight of our trip.
Speaker C I remember you sending me a picture of them, and the second I saw them, I was like, hell, yeah. Like, we're doing those. And yeah, I've just been so excited for them ever since. I already have a spot in my home for them. They're going to go in my wife's salon, so I am betting that These ones sell out and sell out quick. Yeah, we did. Yeah, we did go a little bit deeper in inventory than we typically do, but I still think that's going to be the case that they're going to sell out.
Speaker A I do, too. And I feel like in naming these, like, the petal sconce came up because it kind of looks like a flower petal or the ballet slipper sconce, all these things. But I was like, I don't really want this to get typecast as a little girl's bedroom sconce, because I think these would be fantastic above a mantle. They really give vintage. They definitely feel like 50s or 60s. So I could see them in an entry. I could see them walking up a staircase. Like three in a stairwell in a powder bath, I think would be amazing. So I just was like, I really want these to be taken seriously and not just typecast as a little girl's bedroom sconce. So we actually scaled these way up from the original to, I think, fit in more of our scale of homes today. In the 50s and 60s, you had smaller rooms, smaller homes, small, lower ceiling heights, and just excited. We're going to. We're going to install them in one of our employees above her mantle, and so you'll be able to see that. And then we're all. We've also installed them in the store already, and they are traffic stoppers. Like, people are so excited. Sue, how would you use the sconces in a project for sure, over a mantle?
Speaker B I love. I do love the idea of it in. Again, we do really moody, like, powder room. So the combination of the pink glass layered with some of these deeper saturation, like, for colors in a powder would just be ridiculous. Offices. I think they'd be amazing.
Speaker A Yes.
Speaker B Not just her office. I don't know, like, even, like, like, even though they're like this soft pink, there's like, a strength to them in the simplicity of how, like, the form. So I'm like. I don't know. I'm like. And I love when you do get a little touch of that, even in a men's office. I really do. When paired with cognacs and, you know, burls and things like that.
Speaker C Especially because it's a toilet, too.
Speaker B It's matte. And then with the right art, like, you can combine these things, and that's when it gets really, really good. It's putting it somewhere unexpected. So I'm like, I would totally dare someone to do that in a men's office. Yeah, I wouldn't be shy.
Speaker A Texture on them is kind of a sandblasted texture. And so when there's a light bulb in there, the glow is kind of hazy and it almost just feels like a daydream. It's just so pretty.
Speaker B And the pink, like a fuzzy drink or something. I don't know. Nice.
Speaker A And the pinks that we're using are these vintage pinks. There's almost like a dot of salmon to them, which I think makes them feel just like truly, truly vintage. It's not a little girl pink, so you could definitely use them in a little girl's room. But I love that it's not like a super Barbie bubblegum pink. You know, they. Yes.
Speaker B Really great in an entry.
Speaker A Like, great in your entry.
Speaker B It'd be great in my entry.
Speaker A Let's do that. Yes, yes, please. So good, so good. So the Lulu sconce is, I think, a favorite of all.
Speaker B They look like earrings, but they could be really cool.
Speaker A Totally. I could see that, right? Yes, yes, yes. So good.
Speaker B Okay, next up, shall we go? Oh, gosh. This is probably one of my favorites.
Speaker A Yes.
Speaker B In the whole collection is our resin lamp.
Speaker A Yes.
Speaker B I think for as long as we've been doing this, whenever we see like, you see glass, you see up to the table. Yeah, let's bring, let's bring Delphine up to the table. Delphine, how are you? Get up here, cutie pie.
Speaker A I don't know why this took us so long to create, but we've been working on this forever. So the body is solid. It's. It's resin. It's very, very thick walled, so it's not completely solid all the way through. Otherwise it would be a billion pounds. And after all, I think most of us women have to be able to lift our lamps so we can dust. But it is really, really fantastic. Now the shade that's on it is a different prototype. So of course we're recording this a little bit earlier than when the, than when they actually got here. So we're going to have a canted shade on this. But look at the gourd shaped body and the scale of this.
Speaker B I love it. You know, I actually love the base. I love that it just comes down to a solid little like bracelet cuff situation.
Speaker A Yes.
Speaker B Down there. And when you look at resin, as we like studied it, used it in projects and things throughout the. How many years have we been doing this? 20 years. There's something that feels like it was like found under the ocean. Like, it's really hard to like put your, like, finger on it. People will be like, what is that? Everyone will come and they'll touch it. They'll do little ASMR to try and figure out what is this situation, this daydream of a thing. It feels like a sea glass, but then you have the madness. So, again, that's what makes it feel vintage. It makes it feel historic. You're like my. My grandmother, who was a. A model slash actress, gave it to me.
Speaker C That's why I think modern heirlooms fits so well, because you could look at any of them, and if someone was like, oh, yeah, you know, I inherited this from, you know, my uncle, whatever, Totally. I would totally believe it. So that's. Yeah.
Speaker B Yeah. And that's. That's the cool thing. I think the colors and the shapes are inspired by it, but the scale has been brought up to how we live and, like, the heights that we know that that lamp should be. So. And the material is so interesting. And again, it's not something you're seeing at every. Every store, online shop that you're looking at. Like, you guys, this is such, such a winner. When I saw this for the first time in the product development room, I freaked my freak.
Speaker A Yeah.
Speaker B So good.
Speaker A I think, like, again, those of you watching, we know that you love personal style, you love design, and we're always looking for something that's going to give you that edge or that look so that you're not just feeling like you're looking like everybody else. And I think a pair of these on nightstands next to bed or in the L room. You're gonna get so many compliments on this. And that little bit of ambery salmon. Salmon tone in this is just going to sort of blush your room. It's going to be so flattering and gorgeous, and I think you're going to feel very original about it. We're excited.
Speaker B Collector.
Speaker A Yes.
Speaker B Feels like an art collector.
Speaker A Yeah. So that's Delphine.
Speaker B Oh, cute. Delphine.
Speaker A Yes. And isn't it funny that we happen to both. You never know when these things are going to finally, finally be done. But we didn't plan on having two pink light fixtures or sconces and a lamp come in the same collection, but I'm so glad that they did.
Speaker C Yeah.
Speaker A They sort of belong in the same headspace, and I think they're great.
Speaker B I will say I was just looking at El decor. They put out, like, a top nine things on that are going to be hot trends in 2025. I'm like, I'll read that. I want to see what they're saying, anyway, one of them was just, like, interesting, artistic glass lighting, but so cool that, like, two years ago we were feeling this. Like, it's that we wanted that. And again, it takes a second for things to come to market and for people to get used to an idea. And I'm just so glad that these are landing when they're landing so people, like, can absorb this as they're seeing more and more of it come to pass. And anyway, when you said that, like, it takes two years, I'm like, that girl took as long as a house. Yeah. You know, isn't that crazy? I'm just like, yeah, you're defining, like, what we do. I'm just like, yep, you've been working as long as on her, as I've been working on some projects.
Speaker A Isn't that crazy?
Speaker C The reason. And just to give, like, a little bit of insight to people, like, the reason it does take so long is because we go through, like, multiple changes on every piece. Like, in talking about Delphine, we're like, do we. Are we doing a finial? No, finial. You know, chain.
Speaker A We decided on finial, by the way.
Speaker C Yes. All brass. Finial. Yeah. And then changing the shape of the. The shape and the scale of the shade, actually.
Speaker A Yeah. So many times.
Speaker C Yeah. I mean, I. We. We could tell a bunch of funny stories, but. Well, actually, I will. We didn't have a harp on this, and maybe you don't even know this, but. So we were messing around different shades, and we didn't have a harp for the shade that Jess wanted, so we took a box of Triscuits and put it there on top of the socket, and that's what held the shade on while we, like, took pictures. And we're, like, sending it for the.
Speaker A Harp and just, like, you just kind of build yourself a little rainbow and try and figure it out.
Speaker C Exactly.
Speaker A Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's just holding stuff together with duct tape and Triscuit boxes until we figure it out.
Speaker C Yeah. That's the reason stuff takes two years. It's not that it, like, took two years to make this. It's just the refinement of it. Details. Yeah. The care that we put into the details just takes that long.
Speaker A So we're not just white labeling things that are coming off of Alibaba, you know?
Speaker C Yeah, exactly.
Speaker A We're doing this the hard way, but also why we're so proud of them and why we're like, let's talk about this on a podcast, because I know you guys can appreciate what it takes to make Something. Because a lot of you are designing homes, and you know what it takes to get that primary bath put together or that kitchen and all the things that go into it. And the same is true for product design. And it's just so cool to finally be here.
Speaker C I was talking to Mari about. This is a little bit of side tangent, but it's on. We were talking about the collection last night, and I was showing her pictures of a lot of the stuff, because sometimes I forget, and I'm just like, oh, my gosh. Yeah. She's like, how can you ever show? I was like, check them out. So shown going through it, and she's like, wow, these are, like, all, like, amazing. And, yeah, we were just talking about which ones might sell out first and stuff like that. And, you know, we were. As we were talking, I was like, you know, like, we get. We're recording the podcast on it tomorrow. We get, like, super excited about talking about these, just because, I mean, it's. It. It has no. No monetary, like, draw at all. We're. We're excited about, like, the design and what it. Like, how we created it and the story behind it, and those are really, like, all of the things that we love and, you know, like, why we're recording a podcast on it, like, just to tell, you know, to tell the story of it. And all pieces deserve to have their story told, which is why we spent two years developing them and to. To bring them to everybody. So. Yeah.
Speaker A And to really bring something original to the marketplace. And I know that you guys are going to be so excited about them, too. So that's why we're like, let's all get together and have a book club about this collection. And that's what we're doing. Just talking about the details. So really great.
Speaker C Suze, before we started recording, you were telling me about your bubble cuddle blanket from Cozy Earth. Let's tell the people about it.
Speaker B Okay. I want to shout it from the rooftops. I love this thing so much. The bubble cuddle blanket is the best faux fur blanket out there. I know, because my family all has versions of all the other ones, and they look like flat tires. But the bubble cuddle has a structured grid that's quilted on the front and the back, and it is so soft, and it, like, I don't mind having it out on my sofa with all my other beautiful curated things because it's that lovely, and I say it is cozier than all the others. So I love. I love, love, love my bubble cuddle.
Speaker C So if you want to get a bubble cuddle blanket or any of the amazing products that Cozy Earth offers, head to cozyearth.com and use our code Dear Alice for up to 20% off. That's cozyearth.com code Dear Alice. And if you get a post purchase survey, make sure to let them know you heard about Cozy Earth right here. Because home isn't just where you live, it's how you feel. Let's go home with Cozy Earth.
Speaker A The next one that we want to talk about is we have a new piece for our curiosities collection. So those of you that are new here, we have a curiosities collection. I think pretty much everything in there is made of solid brass and they're small objects. And one of the learnings that we had from Alid, designing homes for other folks. And not just designing them, but moving these people in and styling their homes. We kept being like, we need a little. We need a little something. Because we have a theory. Yeah, we have a theory that when you do something grand, you need to do something humble in concert with it because scale is one of those things that you can really feel when you put the opposite next to it. So we decided probably like two or three years ago, I think is when we launched the first of the curiosities collection. And it was a horse. It was a brass egg.
Speaker B Harper hand.
Speaker A The Harper hand, which is men of beloved. A wishbone. And then we just recently launched another curiosity, which was what was the latest one? Oh, and it's been loved by every. The princess hand. Princess hand is one of my favorites. So much so we haven't had one for a minute. And so the latest curiosity is right here. We did an angel wing and it is just so beautiful. I think this, maybe it's on your entry console or your entry table and you can just lay it on top of something as an object. But if you wanted to, like, open this up, it could be flat or it could be in one of our book cradles. And then this just the way it sits into the spine of that book, it's just so beautiful. And I think we all have, you know, somebody that's passed on that we love. And so this is a nod to them if we believe in angels or it feels kind of spiritual almost, or even just could feel, I think, really beautiful for holiday. I just love, love, love this reference of the angel wing. It's so soft, the feathers. This is 100 brass. This object is. And I also think a really beautiful gift for a hostess or a parent or A grandparent. Anyway, we love it.
Speaker C I like the fact that you mentioned just about, you know, honoring someone that's, you know, passed. We went through a couple different finishes with this and the last one, like the final one that we okayed and approved to run into production got here like a week after my uncle passed away with like from cancer in March. So. Yeah. This will always like have a special place like in my heart because of that. And that's. Every time I, Yeah. See it, I think of him and. Yeah. So it's like just super special. And I love the fact that like, I don't know, we created something that has that tie for me, you know.
Speaker A Yeah.
Speaker B That's really, really lovely.
Speaker A I love that. Yeah. So that is, I think, really, really well timed. I mean, always angels are well timed. Let's be honest. They're there for us whenever we need them. But really well timed. I think heading into gifting season and holiday for people because holidays can be really hard for some folks. And I think this will. Will be a really beautiful, tender soft spot for some people. So. Looks so gorgeous anywhere. Anywhere, you know, but that's where I'd see an entry hall. Where else would you put it?
Speaker B I think it'd be like love again. Just because it can be personal, like even like on a bedside. I think it'd be like really lovely in a tray with all your other things if it is a reminder of something that's more, you know, sacred. So I don't know, I could see all again with all the, the curiosities for the whole curiosities collection. Like you said in the design projects we always just needed something small. But they're all organic too. Like the, I don't know, the materiality, they're all good from every angle. 360. So however you place it, it always looks good and it makes the thing next to it look great and just like adds a lot of this, like perceived value. Not only like in its artfulness, but in its materiality. And I just. Anyway, all of them, I'm like, I could place it anywhere. Honestly, I like any, any tablescape. I could place it. I get to have it. Let's say I could have like again if it's special again. Now it's becoming like this like little memento that's like you're gonna think of somebody when you see it.
Speaker C Yeah.
Speaker B Which I think is a really lovely way to gift. And like, even if it's just like a little add on or it by itself, like it's gonna find a Home somewhere to whoever you give it to. Really, really easy.
Speaker A Our objects should be meaningful. I know when we're moving in a new family into a brand new home that they'll often want us to completely detail out things and you want to be able to find these connections that, that remind them of their life. Picture frames to put pictures in. And you really could almost bring every one of every curiosity to go home because you're always going to want some small object to place on the mantel or just place on a pile of books or, you know, like, wherever.
Speaker B And kids will actually steal them sometimes. Like my son, he'll take that little horse. I have a horse in my bathroom and I'll often find it in his bedroom. And I'm like, that's. That's his little heirloom.
Speaker A Yeah.
Speaker B That he feels some connection to. So again, they all have like little connection points. So even like the emotionality of it to, I don't know, just like show it to your family. Ask them which one do they connect to, you know, in some way. We have the egg, we have the wing.
Speaker C We have the horse.
Speaker B We have the Harper hand. Helping hand. Like my kids all use the Harper hand to like sweep out their Legos. So, like, it really is the healthy harbor hand. Anyway, I digress. We're moving. We're moving all around. Also say I could use it anywhere. Like, honestly, in so many situations. Like, it's, it's just the perfect, like little linear thing that also has some organic shape and a gorgeous material.
Speaker A Yeah, sculpture.
Speaker B It's like buying sculpture and art mental and emotional now.
Speaker A And I have to say the price point on these is silly for, for what it is. I think if we were to find this in an art gallery, it would probably be marked at, you know, high, high hundreds, almost thousands. And this is well under a hundred.
Speaker C Dollars, especially with like the detail of the feathering and stuff on it. It's.
Speaker A Yeah, yeah. So that's the angel wing. Brass angel wing. Next we have our George collection, which is one of the bigs. The bigs. And we are so excited about this. You saw us do a podcast on Burl, just saying that the 70s are back and we had this in our back pocket and we have the prototypes upstairs. We're just waiting for our stuff, for our quantities to finally land so that we can launch it. So everything's here. It's called the George Collection and it's a set of. It's a dresser that's burled. We've got really beautiful polished nickel edge poles coming off the top. This thing's so handsome. It gives. It gives Suzanne's bathroom cabinet. It gives old train car. It feels very Ralph. It's super handy. Kind of madman vintage, huh. And we. We had some people that asked, like, do your Brooklyns or whatever come a little bit smaller? We have an apartment or we have a small. We have an older home. So we knew that we needed to make a dress or just slightly scaled down, which I would say is probably just more of a normal size. We usually go nice scaled because we're working on homes, need larger scaled furniture. So this we scaled down a little bit. And it's just so freaking handsome. This might be my favorite thing.
Speaker C Really? Yeah, Yeah, I. I get it.
Speaker A The burlwood. I think that the warmth of that and I think the beautiful figuring of it paired with that polished nickel is just so zingy and handsome and just definitely feels like 1930s or 40s and just. Just so good. In fact, on the showroom floor, we've got the George dresser under the lulu sconces with a mirror above it.
Speaker C And I haven't even seen it yet.
Speaker B It's ridiculous.
Speaker A You guys, this collection is cute. Picture good. I think you'll. You'll never regret this. You'll be handsome forever. And I just think bedrooms are going to look so chic and well, storied, you know, so we've got a dresser, we've got a nightstand that is here. And the nightstand is a little bit more scaled down again so that those of you that have historical homes or rooms that aren't as massive, this, or even if you do have a big room, you'll be able to fit maybe a sitting room or something to the side because the nightstands aren't so massive. So George is just an absolute collector's edition type kind of piece.
Speaker C I was just gonna say real quick, like, other than the finishes, I don't even remember. We like chose between like a few different finishes, had a couple samples made and all of that as far as like the finish on the wood itself. But one thing that we really paid attention to that I appreciate just because of like, you know, my passion for building furniture. And this is how we, you know, we would have done it. I come, I'm from a town in Utah called Spring named Springville. And the wood shop program in that town is like, is storied and is like. What's the word I'm looking for? Just well known around the state. And so the teacher there, his dad taught, started teaching it in 1936 and so yeah, they so proud he was alive. The original teacher was alive when I was there. And so. And they were both teaching at that, at that time. And so just the lessons I learned from them, it like this George collection, like, reminds me of that because we really focused on the book matching, which is where you take veneer and you take the same piece and cut it in half and you put it together. So the, the spine of it, all of the grain comes off of that spine. And it's just really like the artful way of.
Speaker B The harder way.
Speaker C Yes, the harder way, definitely.
Speaker B Beautiful way.
Speaker C And. But I love just like that we paid attention to that detail because it really does again, add to like, you know, give it more of an heirloom feel.
Speaker B Yeah.
Speaker C And it just adds interest and for the people that know what to look for, they're going to love it. And yeah, yeah, definitely. Remarkable.
Speaker B The one thing I just want to say about this too, because on Mike, as we're doing homes and interiors, we always talk about, oh, you know, your dresser can be different, you know, and oftentimes is different than your nightstand. So you kind of have this curated feel. When I look at George, I want it all. I want the sex. I'm like, that's the true MCM like, way to do it. And it just looks so fly together. And you're so like put together and polished and you're like, you're ready to go out because everything is like right in place.
Speaker A Yeah.
Speaker B That I do feel like George. That is the George like in. But I'm like, but I've never said I'll do a set I know ever in my whole life.
Speaker C This is the exception.
Speaker B It would be because I'd have a dope ass lamp sitting on all of it and they would be curated and cool. And it's just like the coolest base layer that you could ever, ever think of.
Speaker A And there's so much history. George for the win Dartic state.
Speaker B Like, it's so good looking. And we did so good.
Speaker A We did a round nightstand as well as. As a square night stand. I think we're going to call the round one Georgia.
Speaker C Yes.
Speaker A And then obviously the square George. So anyway, it's so good. You guys are going to love it. I'm so happy it's finally here and we can talk about it. And then the last one, which is, I think we've just said every one of these is our favorite, but this is our Freddy chair, named after Freddy Mercury because it's a rock star of a thing. It is a Rock star of the rock star. And it's. This is a lounge chair and it sits so well. We worked for a long time on the pitch, on the width on the arm. It took so long.
Speaker C Yeah, yeah. So long.
Speaker B How long, you guys? How long?
Speaker C At least. I mean, I want to. We started working on it. Yeah. It's been two and a half years probably I would say like the beginning of 2023.
Speaker A Here's what's gorgeous about Freddie. You want to put Freddie on an angle and you want to approach it from behind. You want that three quarter shot, that backside on there.
Speaker B Just like Freddie Mercury.
Speaker A The elbows on the back of that arm. I mean, it's good looking from the front, but if I was space planning a room, I would definitely go optimal angles and I want to walk into the back of that on an angle. You. I mean, a pair of these side by side is great, but I. Or maybe I'd corner them so I could get the back side of it. And it's so pretty. It really 360 degrees. And we decided we've been working on it for so long, we're like, what are we going to dress? And then when we did the deconstructed tiger, which you guys are going to.
Speaker C Remember from the Stevie ottoman and the mushroom.
Speaker A Mushroom, yes. From our house candy collection. Those sold out so fast. We know you guys are loving the deconstructed tiger, so we said, let's just go ahead and be perverts and let's just dress the Freddy in the deconstructed tiger. Ready?
Speaker B Mercury would want that.
Speaker A I do too. It's a rock star thing. This is the pair of leopard shoes in your outfit or the jacket or this is the scene maker. I just think this. This chair, not only is it comfortable and good looking, but I think the fabric that it's upholstered in, and right now we're only doing it in the tiger. I think in the next collection, you'll probably see another colorway come out. But I'm not mad about it. I love it so much. It's perfect as it is. And I do think that coming out of this season of everybody's house is so neutral that they're needing to slap it in the face with a little bit of pattern, a little bit of color. And, you know, the field of this is just like rust. It's really beautiful. And then it's got the black deconstructed tiger patterning on it. You're gonna look like you hired a designer.
Speaker C Yeah, yeah. Like the rolled arm and back to it is amazing just the way it pitches back. Like, we took. Made a bunch of different samples where we were taking some height out of the back feet just to kind of give it some more pitch. Yeah. And I feel like where we landed is. Is perfect. I mean, I sat and you don't.
Speaker A Want to get up.
Speaker C Yeah.
Speaker A You just want to hang out there and watch something great on tv.
Speaker C Exactly. Yeah. When Adam and I were at the factory, we were, like, putting books and stuff underneath to kind of pitch it up a little bit and pitch it down and. Yeah, I think where we landed is. Is perfect. It's cradling almost.
Speaker A That's a good way to say it.
Speaker B That's a good way.
Speaker C Yeah. It's awesome.
Speaker A So good.
