spk_0 Hope you guys enjoy these stories and let's get right into this episode.
spk_0 This first story is by Ishawn, the Curse of the Barry D'Layer.
spk_0 Steve had one rule in his Minecraft world, never dig straight down.
spk_0 So naturally the first thing he did was dig straight down.
spk_0 He'd be fair it wasn't on purpose, he was chasing an iron vein and got excited.
spk_0 Ooh Jackpot he said, breaking blocks with the enthusiasm of someone who hasn't been
spk_0 jump-scored by lava in at least a week.
spk_0 But this time there was no lava, just a weird stone room deep underground.
spk_0 It wasn't a dungeon, no spawner, no chests, just double stone walls.
spk_0 Floors made of mossy stone bricks and in the center a single chicken.
spk_0 Steve stared at it.
spk_0 The chicken stirred back.
spk_0 It's headed a slow glitchy tilt.
spk_0 Walk.
spk_0 I, Steve, offered confused.
spk_0 He stepped forward and the floor slammed shut above him.
spk_0 The blocks appeared, no hole, no ladder, no nothing.
spk_0 Great, Steve muttered, crept with a creepy poultry.
spk_0 He tried to mine out, every time he broke a block it appeared.
spk_0 He punched, he piqued, he even tried placing a bed through said a spawn jump-sleep out.
spk_0 No luck.
spk_0 The chicken huffed once and twice, then walked to the far corner and pecked, a button hidden
spk_0 under the vines.
spk_0 With a grinding noise the new doorway opened in the wall.
spk_0 Steve blinked.
spk_0 Were you a...
spk_0 a zold chicken?
spk_0 Walk.
spk_0 He followed.
spk_0 The hallway twisted left and right until led to a room full of redstone contraptions.
spk_0 Leathered, tripwires, pressure plates.
spk_0 Oh, now, you've ground.
spk_0 It's one of these.
spk_0 The chicken strutted ahead confidently and stood next to a lever.
spk_0 He scratched it said.
spk_0 Want me to pull it?
spk_0 Walk.
spk_0 He pulled it.
spk_0 A piston launched a dispenser into his face and it shot...
spk_0 cake.
spk_0 Well, at least it's not arrows, he said, eating a bite.
spk_0 But then the door behind him slammed shut.
spk_0 The chicken banished.
spk_0 Okay, what?
spk_0 Another chicken reappeared.
spk_0 Then another.
spk_0 Then ten, then thirty.
spk_0 Discircled him.
spk_0 One laid an egg.
spk_0 The egg exploded.
spk_0 What kind of chickens are these?
spk_0 Steve ran.
spk_0 He dodged feathers.
spk_0 He leapt of rigs.
spk_0 He karate punched a hen out of panic.
spk_0 The room filled with more clucking than a barnyard on karaoke night.
spk_0 Finally he dove through an open tunnel and slammed the door shut behind him.
spk_0 Hanting, sweaty, feather-covered.
spk_0 He landed in a small room with a sign.
spk_0 You have passed a trial of the cluck.
spk_0 Below it's another chicken stood, when your carved pumpkin on it said.
spk_0 Next to it, a chest.
spk_0 Steve opened the chest.
spk_0 Inside, one enchanted feather named, lightless fury, and a book.
spk_0 Long ago, the chickens ruled the overworld, until the player uprising forced them underground.
spk_0 Only the worthy may earn their trust.
spk_0 You have survived.
spk_0 You may not leave.
spk_0 Steve looked up.
spk_0 The pumpkin chicken was gone.
spk_0 And so was the wall behind him.
spk_0 He was free.
spk_0 Back at his house, he mounted the feather in an item frame, next to his other trophies.
spk_0 With his skulls dragging egg and chained at Ho.
spk_0 He'll have that sober.
spk_0 He sighed, flopping into bed.
spk_0 But just as he drifted off to sleep, he heard it.
spk_0 Cluck.
spk_0 Cluck.
spk_0 He sighed up.
spk_0 Cluck.
spk_0 Cluck.
spk_0 He walked outside slowly.
spk_0 Bayer on his front lawn were hundreds of chickens, all staring at him.
spk_0 Each one wore a carved pumpkin on it's head.
spk_0 Once stepped forward and dropped a sign at his feet.
spk_0 He picked it up.
spk_0 It read.
spk_0 You are an hour later.
spk_0 Congratulations, chicken king.
spk_0 Another sign fell.
spk_0 Also we live here now.
spk_0 Hope you like feathers.
spk_0 Suddenly, the chickens all stormed into his house.
spk_0 Dozens of them crammed through the door.
spk_0 Feathers flew, eggs bounced off his furnace.
spk_0 One was somehow already using his bed.
spk_0 Another chicken took his diamond pickaxe and walled it off like a paid rent.
spk_0 Steve stood in the chaos, holding the enchanted feather like a scepter.
spk_0 As one last chicken climbed onto his head and perched their proudly, it placed a tiny
spk_0 gold crown made out of wheat on his head.
spk_0 He sighed.
spk_0 Guess some were in a coop now.
spk_0 From that day forward, the villagers whispered of a strange man who ruled from a house over
spk_0 flowing with poultry.
spk_0 They called him the Cluck King.
spk_0 His throne, the compost bin, his crown, a wheat wreath.
spk_0 His dignity?
spk_0 Well, he was probably under a pile of eggs somewhere.
spk_0 The end.
spk_0 Thank you, Sean, for this really fun story.
spk_0 Our second listener's story for this episode is by Kit Soon Crafting.
spk_0 The Forgotten Echo.
spk_0 The Horde of mobs cornered me on the edge of a cliff in a cave, as I'm aground and
spk_0 stumbled forward.
spk_0 I held my sword in my blocky hand and swung.
spk_0 I killed the zombie, but not before getting hit by it first, leaving me at half a heart.
spk_0 I'm at half a heart, I cried out, even though I was in a single player world.
spk_0 I ate a piece of cooked steak, eating my health back to four hearts before an arrow whizzed
spk_0 past me, barely missing me.
spk_0 I stumbled to the left out of fright, coming closer to the edge of the cliff.
spk_0 Multiple mobs came at me all at once, and other zombies stalked forwards, but I killed
spk_0 easily.
spk_0 The baby zombie was a little bit trickier though.
spk_0 It would come up to me with alarming speed and then dart away just as fast.
spk_0 I could have sworn that the baby zombie had a brain from the way it was acting.
spk_0 A spider leaped out of the crowd at me, I ducked, the spider falling over the ledge behind
spk_0 me.
spk_0 As I got off the cold cave floor, I heard the familiar hiss of a creeper.
spk_0 As I looked up at the green, armless mob, it exploded, stone under me getting destroyed.
spk_0 I fell through the hole, watching the cliff disappear into darkness.
spk_0 I fell for what felt like forever.
spk_0 I looked around frantically, arms and legs flailing as I fell, trying to see something I could
spk_0 use to stop my fall.
spk_0 There was nothing.
spk_0 I started to go through my inventory, dropping some of my items by accident.
spk_0 I had nothing that could stop me from death.
spk_0 No water buckets, no powdered snow, nothing.
spk_0 I'm going to die.
spk_0 I thought, already imagining what it would look like.
spk_0 As I continued to sift through my inventory, I found a golden apple I had saved.
spk_0 I knew it wouldn't help, but I ate it anyways, eating a few extra golden hearts.
spk_0 I didn't notice the piece of deep slate joting out of the wall I was hurtling towards.
spk_0 I was going through my inventory again, trying to see if I had missed anything.
spk_0 When my head collided painfully with the deep slate, making me go unconscious.
spk_0 Chapter 2
spk_0 I woke, sputtering in a pool of water.
spk_0 I jerked upwards trying to stay afloat.
spk_0 The aquifer was about three blocks deep.
spk_0 I swam to the edge of the water entirely, my head throbbing.
spk_0 After I got out of the water, I looked upwards from where I came.
spk_0 I like to see with darkness, so I decided to look around the cave I was in instead.
spk_0 After about five minutes, I noticed something dark blue and glowing.
spk_0 It looked like vines, but it acted like algae, covering the walls and casting a faint glow
spk_0 on the surrounding area.
spk_0 As I ventured deeper into the cave, I saw what looked like the weird vines, but a block
spk_0 formed.
spk_0 I tried to pick it up, but nothing worked.
spk_0 Pickaxes didn't work, neither did an axe, bevel, or hoe.
spk_0 I then tried with enchanted items.
spk_0 After going through two different enchantments, I tried silk touch, and it worked.
spk_0 I was able to retrieve the block.
spk_0 It was called a Skulk block.
spk_0 Skulk, I wondered.
spk_0 I've never heard of Skulk.
spk_0 What is this?
spk_0 I continued to venture more, dripping over the occasional block.
spk_0 As I got closer to the entrance of a bigger cave, I saw what looked like half a bone
spk_0 block, half a Skulk block.
spk_0 I went closer, crouching to examine it.
spk_0 On the inside there was what looked like the souls that moved, just like the soul
spk_0 sand in the nether.
spk_0 The only difference was that the souls were blue.
spk_0 On the bottom of the outside was more Skulk.
spk_0 Interesting, I pondered.
spk_0 What is this?
spk_0 I uncrouched, stepping back.
spk_0 That was a mistake.
spk_0 As soon as I moved it went off, making a high-pitched, shrieking noise.
spk_0 Blue circles coming out the top.
spk_0 I covered my ears, kneeling on the cave floor.
spk_0 Even though it lasted only a second, my ears were still ringing.
spk_0 I'm going to keep crouching for a while, I thought.
spk_0 I slowly crept at the entrance of the massive cave I saw earlier.
spk_0 On the inside of the cavern was an underground city.
spk_0 There was a more Skulk growing everywhere, I couldn't find any signs of life.
spk_0 I entered the lost city and started to look around.
spk_0 After a while of searching, I found a chest and opened it.
spk_0 I found a few snowballs, a diamond sword with the enchantment knockback two on it, and
spk_0 a notch apple.
spk_0 As it closed the chest, I saw two rings, which were the same colors to ones from the
spk_0 shrieking bone-soul thing, but towards another Skulk block.
spk_0 This one had four vines pointing upwards that moved.
spk_0 The rings then traveled to the shrieking block.
spk_0 No, I thought, not another one of those.
spk_0 I covered my ears and waited for the ear-splitting shrieking to be over.
spk_0 Okay, I thought after the noise was gone, it came my hands off my ears.
spk_0 No more opening chest.
spk_0 I continued to explore the ancient city, ignoring any chests I came across.
spk_0 As I was walking through what I thought used to be a hallway, the floor was covered
spk_0 in a dark, blue-gray carpet.
spk_0 I was wondering how to book I had been using to write down coordinates when I suddenly
spk_0 dropped my quill.
spk_0 I quickly covered my ears and shut my eyes, waiting for the shrieking noise.
spk_0 It never came.
spk_0 I slowly took my hands off my ears and opened my eyes.
spk_0 I looked down at where the quill fell.
spk_0 It was on a block of wool.
spk_0 Why didn't the shrieking noise happen, I wondered?
spk_0 I decided to do an experiment.
spk_0 I dropped the book onto the wall and nothing happened.
spk_0 I decided to uncrowge and move a block.
spk_0 No sound whatsoever.
spk_0 Now I don't have to crouch, I thought.
spk_0 I almost yelled it aloud but thought better.
spk_0 I decided to stay in the wall so I could go faster.
spk_0 The wall didn't go far so I decided to collect some.
spk_0 As I collected wool, I kept expecting a creeper or skeleton to come up and try to kill me.
spk_0 I then realized how there were no mobs whatsoever except the occasional indermen who would
spk_0 tell part near me than tell part away.
spk_0 Riot as I finished collecting wool and indermen teleported right next to one of the moving
spk_0 blue upward vines.
spk_0 The blue circles went from the indermen to the blue moving vines.
spk_0 They then moved to the shrieker block.
spk_0 The ear splitting shrieking sound came again.
spk_0 But this time something different happened.
spk_0 After the shriek was gone, I got the blindness effect.
spk_0 I heard a rumbling noise and when I looked at the spot of floor where the sound came
spk_0 from, I saw a dark blue creature coming out of the ground.
spk_0 It was the warden.
spk_0 The end of part 1.
