spk_0 Mayo, you know that I'm always down to talk baseball on this podcast and you've actually
spk_0 added something baseball related to the show notes on a set you off.
spk_0 But honestly, if there's ever a week where I didn't want to talk baseball, it's this
spk_0 week because the Cincinnati Reds made the playoffs.
spk_0 They backed into a playoff spot somehow, played the Dodgers in a best of three game series,
spk_0 and they were eliminated last night.
spk_0 So my baseball hey, this is about to begin.
spk_0 I'm exhausted from watching this baseball team.
spk_0 This is an episode two where I wish you knew just enough about baseball where I could
spk_0 rant to you about some of the mistakes the Reds made.
spk_0 Need to have like John Gruber or Jason Stell on the show just so we can talk about baseball
spk_0 for a bit.
spk_0 Was it bad?
spk_0 It was bad.
spk_0 It was very bad.
spk_0 Have you seen the IT crowd?
spk_0 The IT crowd?
spk_0 It's a UK sitcom.
spk_0 No, I did not understand that it's not.
spk_0 Well, an awful display was on last night.
spk_0 That's a reference.
spk_0 Okay, reference not acknowledged.
spk_0 Yeah, exactly.
spk_0 But the baseball thing that you added to the show notes is actually pretty cool.
spk_0 It's that Apple used iPhones to shoot some footage for Friday night baseball the past
spk_0 two weeks of games.
spk_0 So the first time they did it, they didn't advertise it to anybody.
spk_0 They just kind of did it in secret using iPhone 17 pros around the stadium to get certain
spk_0 shots and certain angles.
spk_0 Then presumably that test went well.
spk_0 So they announced formally that they were going to use iPhones to shoot at the Tigers and
spk_0 Red Sox game.
spk_0 This was last Friday.
spk_0 That game on Apple TV plus Friday night baseball.
spk_0 The last Friday night baseball season, right?
spk_0 By all indications, it seems like it was a success.
spk_0 They had iPhone 17 pros placed in four different spots throughout Fenway Park, including
spk_0 right inside the dugout and on the green monster in left field, which sidebar, when you
spk_0 got the embargo on this, you first immediately texted me, what is a green monster?
spk_0 Which was.
spk_0 When they told me they're like, we put an iPhone on the green monster.
spk_0 I was like, okay.
spk_0 You know why they did the Red Sox though?
spk_0 It's because Phil Schiller is a huge Red Sox fan.
spk_0 So he was probably in Kahoodson on that one.
spk_0 Have you seen, by the way, if you seen Phil Schiller popping off on Sora?
spk_0 He made a video of himself.
spk_0 There's one speaking of the Red Sox.
spk_0 There's one where the caption is like, a young Phil Schiller playing for the Boston Red
spk_0 Sox or something.
spk_0 But yes, he is always the first to jump on new social media.
spk_0 He was on.
spk_0 He's on Instagram, right?
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 He's on the Reds.
spk_0 He follows me on Blue Sky for whatever reason.
spk_0 But anyway, yeah, this shot on iPhone stuff at Friday night baseball is pretty impressive,
spk_0 I think.
spk_0 Yes, I mean, it's just a fun ad right at the end of the day.
spk_0 But they did it, they did it not last week, the week before.
spk_0 And the footage was actually shown on the broadcast.
spk_0 They just didn't turn anybody.
spk_0 It was iPhone footage.
spk_0
spk_0 And in this week, they obviously made a big PR play for it.
spk_0 And when the iPhone shots were on screen, they put like a shot on iPhone logo in the corner
spk_0 of the screen, obviously because it's advertising.
spk_0 But the quality of the footage looks pretty good.
spk_0 I mean, I think some people were being a bit super, it didn't be like, this looks identical
spk_0 to the other broadcast cameras that they used.
spk_0 And I'm like, I think if you look close enough, you don't have the same depth of the field,
spk_0 it's not quite the same quality.
spk_0 If the iPhones were that good, they used them for every camera stadium.
spk_0
spk_0 And they used them for four or not 40 or whatever it is.
spk_0 And the iPhones are being used for simpler shots than what the other cameras are being used
spk_0 for track work.
spk_0 The other cameras are used for tracking fly balls, doing up close shots on the picture.
spk_0 Like all of that more intense stuff where the iPhones, at least the clips I saw, were kind
spk_0 of more like static, static.
spk_0 Yeah, that's a good word.
spk_0 I think it was on a roaming rig, but yeah, they can't use it for the shots where you like
spk_0 hit the base, but when it flies across the stadium, because you need someone to be like
spk_0 actively zooming, right?
spk_0 With 100x range.
spk_0 And obviously the iPhone doesn't provide that.
spk_0 But nevertheless, it's a good demo and a good show off.
spk_0 And if they didn't put the shot on iPhone monoka on it, I think it would have just
spk_0 been accepted and people would not know that's cool.
spk_0 And I was quite happy that it seems like they didn't reuse, like all the equipment they
spk_0 used was pretty commercial.
spk_0 So they just had like a lens and they used the black magic camera dock, which you can buy
spk_0 and it's like $250 and they had some cables and stuff and the iPhone.
spk_0 But it wasn't like they were then like using like 50 ground rigs, you know, to make the
spk_0 iPhones work.
spk_0 It was relatively bare bones.
spk_0 Obviously, it's all going into a very expensive mixer and all this other stuff.
spk_0 But as a demonstration, I thought it was pretty nice.
spk_0 And I was kind of expecting them to do like a follow up ad or a video about it, like behind
spk_0 the scenes, they're throwing out baseball, shot on iPhone, like a couple of days after,
spk_0 but they didn't do that.
spk_0 But they did provide us with some nice photos.
spk_0 So you can see it in the story of what it looks like.
spk_0 Are they going to do it?
spk_0 Is this going to become a regular staple?
spk_0 Like 2025 or 2026?
spk_0 Are they going to do it?
spk_0 I don't know.
spk_0 But it was a cool one off at least.
spk_0 Well, we still don't even know if Friday night baseball is necessarily coming back for 2026.
spk_0 We're still waiting.
spk_0 True.
spk_0 We're still waiting on the official rights announcements from MLB about who's getting
spk_0 what for next year with the ESPN deal imploding.
spk_0 And there was that one report that said Apple was going to bail all together on baseball.
spk_0 Then there's been some follow up reporting saying that that's not true.
spk_0 It seems like they're not going to get the Sunday night games, but they're going to carry on doing
spk_0 Friday night baseball seems to be the latest consensus from the room.
spk_0 But yeah, it was a cool little stunt they did.
spk_0 I was annoyed that you got the briefing on the baseball topic.
spk_0 It cannot be.
spk_0 Because you told me you had a briefing about something to do with Friday night baseball.
spk_0 I said, oh, that sounds more like my alley than the guy who doesn't know what the green monster is.
spk_0 Anyway, you spotted something or realized something in the messages app.
spk_0 I think now that you have a main daily phone that you're using that has Apple intelligence support,
spk_0 specifically when it comes to the summary feature in the messages app, right?
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 I mean, I guess like in the back of my head, I've noticed this before, but it's never quite the same
spk_0 when you're compared to doing it on test devices, right?
spk_0 And even the message app on the laptop does it as well.
spk_0 And obviously I have an M1 Mac, so it does it on there.
spk_0 But you mostly message on your phone.
spk_0 And now I've been living with the iPhone Air and upgrading from the 4-in-Pro.
spk_0 So now I'm actually using that for Asian summaries on the regular.
spk_0 The thing that kind of like is a bit jarring is that if you have a,
spk_0 like if you send me three messages in a row, it's probably going to summarize it, right?
spk_0 And it cuts the little summary on the on the label on the cell of your name.
spk_0 But then as soon as you click on it, it gets rid of it.
spk_0 So like if I see a little summary, I click on it.
spk_0 I don't answer.
spk_0 I don't even type anything.
spk_0 And then I just press back.
spk_0 It then deletes the summary and just replaces it with the text of the last message that was sent.
spk_0 Mm-hmm.
spk_0 And it's just a bit odd.
spk_0 Like I quite regularly will like look at a conversation and they're like, okay,
spk_0 I'm going to answer that later.
spk_0 So I'll go back.
spk_0 But you just lose the continuity because the summary changes.
spk_0 It's the mail app doesn't do it, right?
spk_0 The mail app summaries.
spk_0 It summarized the email.
spk_0 You click in the email.
spk_0 You read the email if you want to.
spk_0 You go back.
spk_0 It doesn't just delete the summary.
spk_0 The moment you click on the conversation, but for summaries and the messages that does, it's very old.
spk_0 The one that gets me that relates to that is if you are in a conversation in the messages app,
spk_0 then you leave the messages app to go do something else.
spk_0 But that conversation keeps going specifically in a group chat.
spk_0 You go back to the messages app.
spk_0 It takes you right back to that conversation, right?
spk_0 And if you go back to the main view of the messages app, that thread has been like marked as red or whatever.
spk_0 So you never see a summary for that conversation.
spk_0 Mm-hmm.
spk_0 Which happened to me yesterday when I'm in a group chat with my sisters.
spk_0 And we were talking about something that they started going on a side conversation about something I didn't care about.
spk_0 So I left the chat.
spk_0 I would have liked to come back and see a summary of that, but not possible with the current interface.
spk_0 Yeah, because the summary is only shown the list view, right?
spk_0 Like if you're in the conversation thread, you almost need it.
spk_0 You know, they have that little arrow they added a couple of releases ago, where if there's a bunch of messages overnight
spk_0 and you go back in the conversation, it has like a little arrow, which can like take you to the last unwritten message.
spk_0 That arrow should maybe have like the little summary text attached to you, like tap on the arrow,
spk_0 and then it tells you a summary of the messages that come after.
spk_0 Because I actually get quite a lot of value other notifications summaries.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 I'm certainly not going to turn them off.
spk_0 They're a best harmless in my experience.
spk_0 And in some cases, quite useful.
spk_0 Like if you know, it makes more sense for group chats than individual chats, but still it works.
spk_0 And especially on the watch, funnily, I know it's like an iPhone feature,
spk_0 but it mirrors the summaries to the watch in like my Facebook Messenger group chat.
spk_0 And you know, this message isn't there all the time.
spk_0 The summary come to the watch and it's like at the very top when you get the little bundle of notifications
spk_0 on the watch face, you know, in the notification on the watch, it will put the summary at the very top.
spk_0 And multiple times since getting the iPhone air now, I haven't actually needed to like scroll
spk_0 with the digital crown on my watch to read all the messages because I just relied on the summary being good enough.
spk_0 And I'm like, okay, I know what people are talking about.
spk_0 I can figure that out later on.
spk_0 So yeah, I get value and I have a notification summaries, but they almost need to like
spk_0 show them more, you know, more commonly, especially in the messages app.
spk_0 Because like I said, you're in a conversation with a group of people,
spk_0 you tap into the conversation, the summary's gone.
spk_0 And you can't get it back.
spk_0 It's just a very, it almost feels a bit like hacked or not something like that.
spk_0 You know, the system just doesn't, it doesn't work the way it would intuitively expect it to.
spk_0 It's like doing a delete behavior where you don't expect a deletion to happen.
spk_0 So hopefully they can improve on that.
spk_0 But that was just something that kind of stuck out to me now that I've actually been using
spk_0 the iPhone air full time for, you know, a couple of weeks.
spk_0 But you have the summaries on, right?
spk_0 I do. And one thing I was just trying to figure out,
spk_0 unless I'm forgetting it is you don't see summaries on threads that you have pinned in the messages app
spk_0 either. Do you?
spk_0 See, I don't use pin messages.
spk_0 Let me see. I probably have.
spk_0 I believe you're correct because there's no, there's no place in the UI to show them.
spk_0 Yeah, no, I don't see them.
spk_0 And I have an unread group message right there.
spk_0
spk_0 So that's an, they want you to use pinned messages and then they don't add the feature to pinned messages.
spk_0 It's first, it's one of the examples about some of the
spk_0 user interface elements of Apple intelligence that just don't click right with me.
spk_0 And I think a lot of people writing tools is the other big example of that where I think
spk_0 writing tools as a feature is great.
spk_0 It's just as good as a lot of other LLM grammatical tools.
spk_0 But the interface just isn't meant for working with big, large amounts of text.
spk_0 And it's just an example of the interface not catching up with the power of the feature.
spk_0 It's almost like this is the prototype version, you know?
spk_0 But this is behavior like this since it came out with iOS 18.2,
spk_0 which is now what a year ago.
spk_0 So they haven't changed it.
spk_0 And I think it's got quite a lot of value.
spk_0 And the, I don't, I think at the moment I
spk_0 put on the notification, the summaries for every application.
spk_0 Like I just did all categories, just try out.
spk_0 That's what I do.
spk_0 And I don't get, I turn off quite aggressively notifications for a lot of apps anyway.
spk_0 So some apps I just don't get them for.
spk_0 But I haven't yet hit a summary when I like this is just actively bad.
spk_0 But I probably eventually turned some of them off.
spk_0 But it's, it's most useful for like the group chat context.
spk_0 I also have the priority notifications thing turned on.
spk_0 Oh, I hate that feature.
spk_0 Nope.
spk_0 So I'm probably going to turn that one off.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 I actually think it does a decent job at like picking out notifications that are more important than
spk_0 other ones. But I human curate my notifications quite aggressively.
spk_0 So it's kind of redundant for me.
spk_0 But if I'm thinking of a regular user who just like presses yes on notifications for every
spk_0 single app, this might be a way to kind of get out of notification bankruptcy for them
spk_0 instead of having to like go into that list of 300 apps and then manually sort it out,
spk_0 sort them out.
spk_0 Because you could just be like, okay, only receive set your focus mode.
spk_0 So you get the intelligence breakthrough for the priority notifications and nothing else.
spk_0 And I actually think it does a decent job.
spk_0 But like siphoning the phrase, the the chat from the something from the something.
spk_0 There's some phrase about siphoning the chat or something.
spk_0 Anyway, basically getting the good stuff and burying the bad stuff that you don't care about.
spk_0 So yeah, I was really impressed with it.
spk_0 But if you've already gone through the effort of like painstaking tweaking
spk_0 notifications settings to run into your life, you then you don't really need it.
spk_0 The animation is cool though.
spk_0 It's got a cool effect on the screen.
spk_0 I am meticulous about which apps can send notifications.
spk_0 And then I also use focus modes on top of that, which obviously further gives me the flexibility
spk_0 to control what notifications I see at the time of day.
spk_0 So no real use for priority notifications for me either.
spk_0 I think if you if you're a brand new user to the ecosystem,
spk_0 they should have it turned on and it should like be the default for the Apple Watch.
spk_0 Because I think you get so much more benefit of the Apple Watch by having less things like if
spk_0 you have every single thing buzz your wrist, then it becomes like unwieldy, untenable.
spk_0 And people just hate their watches.
spk_0 This is a good automatic default that they should employ.
spk_0 At the moment, I think there a bit hesitant to do that because obviously the Watch can't do
spk_0 pronovacations independently. It has to rely on the iPhone to sort it out.
spk_0 But in the fullness of time, they're weird to rectify that.
spk_0 And then I think it's a decent system.
spk_0 But it is one of those features that the first time somebody misses the notification
spk_0 because that feature is on by default, they're going to be very frustrated and they're
spk_0 going to turn it off altogether. The first time it fails, people give up.
spk_0 True.
spk_0 But I guess on the iPhone, like even if you don't, you can do it so that it doesn't like
spk_0 actively not send you notifications at all, right?
spk_0 It just puts the ones that most important in a separate group at the top.
spk_0 And then you can still scroll down and see the rest of them, which I guess is the current default.
spk_0 So it's less aggressive than like actively blocking them out.
spk_0 Obviously, if you go into the reduce interruptions,
spk_0 focus mode, or you turn on the intelligent breakthrough stuff manually,
spk_0 then it is obviously pruning.
spk_0 But the default is quite safe.
spk_0 And we are what now a couple of weeks after the 26th release and the BBC hasn't got
spk_0 mad yet that they tell the notification summaries back on.
spk_0 Do I think they've changed the models in a different way since they still blow up?
spk_0 Not really, but well, they've certainly made them less aggressive in summarizing.
spk_0 I think when it gets the confused now, it just kind of gives you a list of names from
spk_0 people mentioned in the...
spk_0 It loves a semi-colon.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Yes.
spk_0 It just says like pronoun, semi-colon,
spk_0 pronoun, semi-colon,
spk_0 pronoun.
spk_0 But yeah, I am getting value on those summaries in general.
spk_0 There's just some weird UI nonsense that could be cleaned up a lot.
spk_0 Happy other week is sponsored by OpenCase.
spk_0 The OpenCase is a really cool,
spk_0 patented designed iPhone case with a literal open space in the back.
spk_0 Check them out at theopencase.com and use promo code HappyHour for 10% off.
spk_0 So this case is made of a durable, soft touch material,
spk_0 but the big difference compared to other cases you might have seen is that it has an opening
spk_0 on the back.
spk_0 And this space matches up with their ecosystem of accessories,
spk_0 like they have a specially designed MagSafe wallet, a phone grip, and a calm out.
spk_0 But it also works with most party MagSafe accessories that can fit inside the space.
spk_0 The border of the open space helps cradle these accessories in place and stops them sliding around.
spk_0 And because the accessory sits inside the case instead of on top of it,
spk_0 the whole thing has an overall thinner profile and it's light away compared to attaching
spk_0 an accessory to a traditional case.
spk_0 And you also get optimal MagSafe charging performance because the charger can directly
spk_0 contact the back glass of the phone.
spk_0 It's not going through another material.
spk_0 And they sent you one of these cases, right, Chance?
spk_0 They did.
spk_0 And I obviously test a lot of iPhone cases every year.
spk_0 And OpenCase, I think, is by far the most innovative one I've tried in a long time.
spk_0 And it's one of those ideas that just make sense and you wonder why nobody tried it before.
spk_0 I use a ton of MagSafe accessories all the time with my iPhone.
spk_0 In particular, the MagSafe wallet.
spk_0 And with OpenCase, because of that direct attachment to the phone,
spk_0 it's just more firmly attached and you don't worry that it's going to fall off.
spk_0 It also feels slimmer and lighter than a normal case with accessories stacked on.
spk_0 And one thing that's pretty cool, especially if you're using maybe that orange new iPhone
spk_0 17 Pro, you still get to see the color of your phone through that gap on the back of the case,
spk_0 which I love. It's the first MagSafe case that I think actually feels designed for how I use my phone.
spk_0 OpenCase is the best case for MagSafe and iPhone 17.

spk_0 Look, most skincare products are not made for men and when they are, they tend not to be very good.
spk_0 They're complicated, packed with questionable ingredients and they just don't deliver results.
spk_0 Caldera Lab has redefined men's skincare,
spk_0 combining advanced science with high quality non-toxic ingredients to create a simple routine
spk_0 that actually works. There's three key products to talk about. The Good, an award-winning serum
spk_0 that helps skin epist smoother and hydrated, made with 27 active botanicals. Then you have the
spk_0 base layer, a nutrient rich moisturizer, and for people that are afflicted by tired dark eyes,
spk_0 like me, they have the eye serum, which reduces the appearance of dark circles and puffiness.
spk_0 Chancers, you've tried these out, right? Indeed, I've tried all three of those and in particular,
spk_0 I've really liked the base layer, which is the moisturizer. It is absolutely made. My skin
spk_0 feels smoother and healthier and even Emily said that she's noticed a difference since I started
spk_0 using it a few months ago. I've always been very particular about what moisturizer I use because
spk_0 I hate how so many of them just end up making my skin feel greasy and gross.
spk_0 And the base layer from Caldera Lab just isn't like that at all. Plus, it all comes in this
spk_0 really nice glass packaging that feels premium and high-end, sort of like something you'd expect
spk_0 from Apple. So it all gets a big endorsement for me. Whether you're starting fresh or upgrading
spk_0 your routine, Caldera Lab makes skincare simple and effective. Don't settle for drugstore junk

spk_0 It's been a big week in your house this week right, Mayo, because your vacuum has gotten
spk_0 an update with matter support. So it's a bit... So it had matter 1.2 or whatever before? That's right.
spk_0 Now it's got matter 1.4. And it's a surprisingly big improvement, I think.
spk_0 It actually makes... I don't know how much of it is necessary related to the additional features.
spk_0 You get from 1.2. Maybe they've just been working on the firmware for a few months. It feels a bit
spk_0 more baked now. I mean, this is the switch box S10 vacuum system, vacuum and mop thing.
spk_0 And it was one of the first ones that rolled out matter support to work in the home app, right?
spk_0 So it appears in Apple Home. There are other options on the market now for sure. But this is the
spk_0 one that I have. They sent it to me. They were very nice about that. When the initial mar integration
spk_0 came out though, yes, the vacuum did appear as a tyre in the home app. And yes, you could click on it
spk_0 and like start a session. But you know how something just doesn't quite feel like it's synchronized,
spk_0 probably is a bit creaky. It's a bit slow to respond. It's a bit glitchy. It was definitely in that
spk_0 camp. And I'm not sure whether it was matters for, whether it was switch boxes for, whether it's
spk_0 some overlap of the two. But with this new firmware update that has come out, the performance of it
spk_0 is way faster. It works better. It feels more like a native home kit accessory in general. It just,
spk_0 you know, the responsiveness you get or you expect. It's just there now where it wasn't before.
spk_0 And I get some new features like in the home app, you can now choose the room regions for the vacuum
spk_0 to go into. You get a few more options terms of like picking the speeds and picking the settings,
spk_0 which you couldn't really do before. You had to use the third part. You have to do that. But now you
spk_0 can do it inside the home app. And one thing that really got on my nerves was I would ask the
spk_0 home pod start the vacuum, right? And it would do it before. But the top of the home pod would glow
spk_0 for like five seconds while the vacuum is now often starting, right? You can hear the fans starting
spk_0 to go and it's starting to clean. And then after about five seconds, the home pod go,
spk_0 sorry, your accessory is taking a while to respond. Even though it's often doing it, right?
spk_0 It's in operation. It's doing exactly what I asked it to. But for whatever reason, the kind of like
spk_0 the reply response wasn't making its way through the protocol. And then so the home pod wouldn't know
spk_0 that the vacuum had understood and was actually doing it. With the 1.4 update, it just start the vacuum
spk_0 off it goes and it shuts up immediately. So that's just an example of the kind of like weird
spk_0 buggingness of the integration that isn't there anymore. So it makes it a lot more of a
spk_0 solid recommendation. And I'll probably write better on the site sometime this month. Because it
spk_0 actually feels like proper now. There are still to be fair, there's still a couple of buttons in the
spk_0 home app integration that's exposed to the home app that don't work. Like there's a the one that's
spk_0 like play sound to locate me is a button that appears in the home app, but you click on it and nothing
spk_0 happens. This is the same on the on the older software as well. And I've Googled it and loads of people
spk_0 have this problem, not just with the switch bot one with the other, you know, the robot on the
spk_0 manufacturers too. I don't know whether it's apples full or matters for who's fault, but the button
spk_0 shows up and it doesn't do anything. And then the on the old integration, the return to dock button
spk_0 also wouldn't work in the home app. It would show it there at the bottom, but you click on it and
spk_0 the vacuum would just ignore it. On the 1.4 version, the return to dock button does work.
spk_0 That's good. That's an important feature, I feel like. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So obviously you could do it
spk_0 through the switch, the switch app, right? And my big question now though is that I don't know what
spk_0 voice commands, the Siri implementation supports, because it's a vacuum and a mob. I've called it a
spk_0 vacuum in the app in the home app. And I can say start the vacuum, but like it doesn't go into the
spk_0 mop mode, like I don't know what I can say to it to make it do stuff, you know, apart from start and stop.
spk_0 Which is a limitation. And I think there are commands I can use the, there's more voice commands you
spk_0 could ask it, but Apple has no documentation anywhere on the kind of things you've had to be
spk_0 asked it and find out what happens. Like in this 1.4 update, the home app will no show the different
spk_0 zones of the house where the vacuum is mapped it out. And so you can like in the UI, check the boxes
spk_0 and say, I only want you to vacuum a mop in this room, in this room. Again, functionality that
spk_0 was previously only available through the proprietary app. And I'm sure if I know the right
spk_0 incantation, you could probably get it to do it with voice as well, but I haven't figured it out.
spk_0 And there's nowhere I can look to find it. Like there's no list of all the possible home app commands
spk_0 for the matter accessories. So one day I'm going to say something and it's going to figure it out.
spk_0 But until then, I just kind of either stick to what I know or I take random stabs in the dark
spk_0 and find out what things I can do with my voice. So are you mainly using the home
spk_0 kid integration just for voice control with the home pods and Siri? Yeah. You're not doing much
spk_0 with like automations or manual control in the home app? No. Not because you couldn't, just because
spk_0 I don't really know what I want. Like I don't vacuum or mop on a regular basis, you know, like
spk_0 well that's the point of having someone, somebody or something do it for you. You should set a
spk_0 schedule. But it feels a bit wasteful to be like, yeah, I guess you don't have like pets or anything.
spk_0 Yeah, exactly. So I obviously I live in the living room, right? And obviously one of the problems
spk_0 with robot vacuum is they can't climb stairs. So it's confined to the downstairs spaces, which is like
spk_0 the living room in the kitchen, right? And the entrance and stuff. And so I'm in there all the time.
spk_0 If I think it's dirty, I'll go, I'll say start the vacuum or click the button in the home app, right?
spk_0 I haven't really found a thing where I'm like every Monday at this time I want you to do it on
spk_0 schedule because, you know, what if I'm not home, what if I'm doing a call when it's too loud,
spk_0 because it gets quite noisy or whatever. So that kind of stuff I haven't fully figured out what
spk_0 would match with my lifestyle really. And the proprietary switch button has even more complicated
spk_0 and fine grained schedules. You can set up and, you know, it has all these different features.
spk_0 But I don't use any of them either because not because it can do it, just because I haven't
spk_0 figured out what I actually wanted to do. So yeah, I just tell it on command and it takes, you know,
spk_0 two seconds as I'm walking through the kitchen to talk to the home, put in the kitchen, be like,
spk_0 vacuum, please, you know, and then off it goes. And still, even with a robot vacuum,
spk_0 okay, you know, less often, but you still kind of have to go around with the vacuum as well,
spk_0 just because there's bits and, you know, corners, it doesn't quite pick up or certain dust and stuff,
spk_0 it's never going to get all, you know, surfaces, it's never going to dust down, whereas you can
spk_0 take the wireless vacuum cleaner I've got and just, you know, do it manually. But it definitely helps
spk_0 in the mopping, I never mop the floor ever. Now you get nice shiny wood and floor and stuff. So,
spk_0 yeah, I'm happy with it, but yeah, I don't reuse any of the automation side of life.
spk_0 I've been telling Emily that now that there's proper homekits support for some of these that I'd
spk_0 like to get one and try it out and she is not on board with the idea of a robot vacuum. And I think
spk_0 that's rooted in the fact that we had one from a brand called Nido in like 2020, I think, and
spk_0 their unique selling point at the time was that they supported shortcuts. So there wasn't homekits
spk_0 integration, but you could kind of automate things to a degree with your voice using shortcuts.
spk_0 That feature worked pretty well, but the overall reliability of the vacuum was just not very good.
spk_0 It would get stuck, it would just kind of go into a corner and just start banging its head into
spk_0 the wall basically like it had the Siri integration down to an impressive degree, but the actual robot
spk_0 vacuum functionality wasn't there. And they actually, I think I was just looking at up Nido is
spk_0 out of business now. So that says a lot. Not very Nido anymore. Not very Nido.
spk_0 Yeah, I mean, even the latest generation ones, they still have those kind of problems on occasion.
spk_0 And I've had it where it all like stuck up something that it's not meant to, but then it knows
spk_0 that it sucked it up, but it can't get rid of it. So it then freezes and it's like, I need help.
spk_0 There's a tango set just going off. So this is another reason why I don't do all the
spk_0 animations because you don't really want it to do it when you're not at home. Just in case you
spk_0 accidentally left like one time it got my shoelaces off my shoes. And it's like, I've been,
spk_0 you know, it's a lot of going off. But like, there's a tango. You go, you pull your shoelace back out
spk_0 and think. And so now strategically the shoes are put in a slightly different place and you can like,
spk_0 zone out an error in the map and you know, do all that kind of stuff. So it doesn't replace the
spk_0 need for manual vacuuming and you do still have to be like the nanny of it. But there's definitely times,
spk_0 you know, I'm working up here. I just say, okay, I know the kitchen's a bit dirty. I just set it
spk_0 off for half an hour and it can wash them up my floor for me. And if you've got like flat
spk_0 lower floor, like flat ground floor area, in my experience, it works pretty well.
spk_0 If you've got kids and they put in loads of like toys and stuff for the other time, it'll,
spk_0 it does a pretty good job of never getting around everything. But you know, like if there's a
spk_0 circular object, it can kind of work around it in like a hexagon. So they're still going to be
spk_0 gaps and stuff. And obviously you still want to actually clean the bit of the floor that something
spk_0 is obscure by. So if you're doing it manually, first remove the rubbish from the floor and then do
spk_0 it, this just has to like work around it. But it won't like bang into stuff. Like it won't like,
spk_0 you know, get confused or get lost. You can kind of pick it up and drop it and it figures out,
spk_0 I think it has lighter on it. So it kind of figures out where it is. Yeah. And if you like,
spk_0 I have a conservatory, but obviously the conservatory doors not always open. And it can like
spk_0 the lidar can see through the like the glass of the windows. So like it knows it's all in there.
spk_0 But sometimes it's it can't actually get in there. And other days it can. And so if you go in the
spk_0 switch button app, it will like show you where it's being and where it can't access right now.
spk_0 And stuff. Um, say obviously it's still a very basic robot, but it is a robot and it does help.
spk_0 Yeah, they're tempting because we have dogs and they do shed. So we have to vacuum a couple
spk_0 few times a week. But at the same time, you wonder if having dogs that shed,
spk_0 there's a lot of dog hair if that would make it struggle more. And the fact that there's dog toys
spk_0 laying around. And just the fact that the dogs themselves with theoretically have to be like
spk_0 locked in another room while it was vacuuming because they would try to attack the move the
spk_0 attack the moving thing on the floor. Like one of our neighbors has a like a like a robot vacuum,
spk_0 but for a lawnmower like a robot lawnmower thing that looks just like a rainbow or whatever. But the
spk_0 most the lawn. And the other day, I was out walking Blake and she, we were just peacefully walking
spk_0 and all of a sudden she goes berserk, starts barking, starts pulling, starts lunging and I'm like,
spk_0 what is happening? Are like, is there another dog or are we about to like, is the world ending?
spk_0 No, she was trying to attack that person's robot lawnmower. So that's probably reason enough for
spk_0 us to even try a robot vacuum. New beats headphones this week. This is always fun. The power
spk_0 beats fit. These are the follow up to the beats fit pro that first launched in 2022. The big news
spk_0 here I think is not necessarily any of the changes to the design or new features. It's that they've
spk_0 rebranded them from the beats fit pro to the power beats fit. That probably signals a combination of
spk_0 maybe the beats fit pro branding never really clicked with people, but also the power of the
spk_0 power beats brand name, especially with the revitalized power beats pro that launched in February.
spk_0 Because if you look at the new features of the power beats fit, they're focused a lot on improving
spk_0 the comfort compared to the feet the fit pro. Beat says they're 20% the wing tips are 20% more
spk_0 flexible. So hopefully they'll fit people better than before. Because the fit of the power beats fit
spk_0 is that they don't have ear hooks that go over your ears, but they have a small wing tip design where
spk_0 that wing tip goes like inside right above your ear canal basically. It's a unique fit. And I think
spk_0 it works well for people who don't want the ear hook design, but there definitely were some fit
spk_0 complaints about the first version. So ideally this more flexible wing tip design will help.
spk_0 Otherwise though, everything is largely the same as the beats fit pro still has the H1 chip from
spk_0 Apple. Same battery life at six hours with ANC or seven hours without.
spk_0 Charging case is a bit smaller, but still gets you a total of 30 hours on a charge.
spk_0 Four colors, jet black, gravel gray, power pink, and spark orange to match your iPhone.
spk_0 But I think the new name here is kind of the most interesting change. Is power beats like a big brand?
spk_0 Is that why they've done this? I think it's really big in like the hardcore fitness community,
spk_0 especially, I mean, the original power beats pro were so popular, like beloved, and they went
spk_0 so long without an update that I think it kind of reminds me of Apple trying to abandon the MacBook
spk_0 Air name. They didn't recognize the brand power of the MacBook Air and I think beans ran into
spk_0 something similar with the power beats brand name. And it just makes it look like you have a more
spk_0 cohesive product line too because beats make so many headphones and so many different shapes and
spk_0 sizes. Having the power beats pro and now the power beats fit as two options in the category of
spk_0 earbuds that have something additional to keep them in your ears. So better for high intensity
spk_0 sports. I think that makes sense. Yeah, it's clever, but it's basically just a name change, right?
spk_0 A name change, yeah. Still like still the it's like the AirPods Max still the old chip inside. No new
spk_0 software features really. Just an orange comes an orange. It does I got the orange once in for review
spk_0 yesterday and it matches perfectly with the iPhone 17 Pro. Yes, you had that photo right where you
spk_0 had the those were the power beats pro. Okay, that's the power. It's right. Okay, but the beats or
spk_0 the forget I forget that headphone manufacturers can possibly make more than one color or something. I
spk_0 know it's revolutionary thinking. You tell me that beats had made orange headphones like a year ago.
spk_0 Headphones only come in white and that's it. Unless you get the headphones that they don't care
spk_0 about. Then they come in like five colors. None of which are black still. But yeah, basically just
spk_0 like a branding update. They obviously come on the heels of AirPods Pro 3 2.
spk_0 Maybe you put in our note here that you've seen some reports on Reddit particularly where AirPods
spk_0 Pro 3 are kind of divisive in terms of how they fit. The airpods subreddit is no api really. Yeah,
spk_0 there is a lot more. And complaining and you would think because the change in fit like we talked
spk_0 about it is not drastic. I don't think like the overall shape is still mostly the same. The
spk_0 difference is the tips are angled a little bit differently and the tips have the foam infusion
spk_0 on the inside. Those are the two big changes, which I wouldn't think would be enough to really
spk_0 frustrate people. But I guess I'm wrong. I have seen dozens of subreddit threads
spk_0 on the AirPods subreddit of people saying they've tried AirPods, sorry, they hurt too much,
spk_0 they're returning them. Wow. Loads. And you then have a event diagram people who say don't like how
spk_0 they sound. People don't like the high vibrancy of them or whatever the different sound signature.
spk_0 Then there's a load of people saying, well, if you change the set in this set in turn off,
spk_0 headphone accommodations and then do this, that's because there's problems. There's also some
spk_0 people that are moaning about the hissiness of transparency mode. I've seen that. I have not
spk_0 experienced that at all. But the number one complaint I've seen is definitely about fit. Like
spk_0 more people than I thought have upgraded from AirPods Pro 2 or AirPods Pro 1 and been like,
spk_0 I don't like how these feel. Interesting. I don't know whether the foam earbuds like for some people take
spk_0 a while to adjust your ears. Like do you get used to it? If you've been living with silicon
spk_0 tip ones for five years, you know, and then you put these in and then maybe they're a bit bigger
spk_0 and then it takes a few days for your ears to let adjust and you get happy with them. But a lot of
spk_0 returns on the AirPods subreddit for sure. I have definitely seen some people say that the fit gets
spk_0 better in the first week or two. Like I know on upgrade last week, Jason, SNL and my curly
spk_0 were complaining. Their first impressions of AirPods Pro 3 were pretty negative, I think.
spk_0 But if you take the upgrade opinion from the last week, that's like on the regular on the
spk_0 AirPods subreddit. But I was going to say this week they both seem to be coming around to the
spk_0 new design and saying that it works better for them and they've gotten used to it after a week.
spk_0 I guess it's kind of like, maybe it's like when you get a new pair of shoes and initially you're like,
spk_0 oh, I don't know if these fit quite right. Then you break them in. Yeah. Like maybe that's the foam
spk_0 aspect of it. That's weird though, because for me it was instantly better. And it seemed like for
spk_0 most, if not all of the people who reviewed them under embargo, it was at least the same if not
spk_0 better. Yeah. It is interesting though in terms of how they how Apple is balancing the fit versus
spk_0 wanting to improve noise cancellation. Like they clearly thought the tradeoff of maybe
spk_0 making some people mad by slightly changing the fit was worth it to improve ANC.
spk_0 For me, that's a that's the proper tradeoff. But again, that's because they feel great in my
spk_0 ears. And that's apparently not the case for everyone. It's interesting as well that the
spk_0 with AirPods non-prose when they did the AirPods 3, which had that quite dramatically different
spk_0 design to the AirPods 1 and 2. The AirPods 2 actually kept being sold, right? And there were
spk_0 quite a few number of people like, I don't like heavy AirPods Pro 3. They thought out my ears
spk_0 a little bit, but they carried on selling AirPods 2 for a long time. So it didn't really matter.
spk_0 Maybe they consider doing that as well for the threes. And then you could have like a series.
spk_0 You could just choose the one that fits you best. I don't know, but maybe they didn't
spk_0 anticipate there'd be this many people. And maybe it's not that many people. Maybe it's just the
spk_0 the vocal minority, but I probably think my algorithm on the on Reddit app is full of people
spk_0 complaining about the AirPods 3. I wonder if they could sell a wonder if they could sell separate
spk_0 ear tips that you could attach to the new AirPods Pro design. But maybe those ear tips don't have
spk_0 foam. Because I would imagine that it's not the angle at which the earbuds sit now, but more so
spk_0 the foam that's frustrating people. I don't know. I just opened the red app while we were talking
spk_0 four hours ago. Another AirPods Pro 3 return. That's a post. That's about the fit.
spk_0 AirPods pre-wistling sounds. AirPods 3 ANC problems. AirPods Pro 3 returns.
spk_0 AirPods 3 don't cancel noise. AirPods 3 not connecting. Honestly, like you'd be surprised.
spk_0 This is like we saw the initial reviews come out and obviously you did your coverage as well.
spk_0 Pretty positive universally. I'm sure the product is great overall too, but there was a lot more
spk_0 dissent than I expected from the Reddit at least. I guess it's a highly personal thing.
spk_0 How something fits in your ears. So it's an AirPods Pro Fit hasn't changed in generation 1 or
spk_0 generation 2. So it's been the same since 2019. Is that when the first AirPods Pro came out?
spk_0 So the first change at all to the form factor since then. You're bound to upset some people.
spk_0 But this is a lot of reports. More than I would have expected.

spk_0 It's kind of crazy that we're about to talk about a story like this again for the second time
spk_0 in a year because remember last year an unboxing video of the M4 MacBook Pro leaked on YouTube before
spk_0 it was even announced. And now this year that same YouTuber has somehow obtained the M5 iPad Pro
spk_0 which hasn't been announced and posted a full unboxing video this week. And you do remember what the
spk_0 big the big thing was about like Sherlock Holmes in the the MacBook Pro last year. And I'm pretty
spk_0 sure I was on this cam too. I said, these can't be real because the wallpaper on the box.
spk_0 Barca. Yep. And what did they do? They came up with a new map version with the exact same wallpaper.
spk_0 And what is this? Is it M5 iPad Pro with the exact same wallpaper? Yep. And now we trust this guy too.
spk_0 So there's no reason to think this isn't true. Even though if you put the M4 and the M5 iPad Pro
spk_0 right by right side by side by each other, don't think you could tell a difference.
spk_0 Unless you can see the second camera right which is a big sticking point because that's something
spk_0 Mark German reported was in development. And this video, if there's a second camera there,
spk_0 this video makes no mention of it and you can't tell based on looking at the product.
spk_0 I think the second camera is there. You do? I'm skeptical. He's hard to tell but
spk_0 I think someone, some other Russian person got it as well. And they had a slightly different video
spk_0 with a slight clearer photo of the second camera. I think that video insinuated that it's not
spk_0 a second camera but more so some sort of second sensor for like desk view or something.
spk_0 What does desk view do? It's a camera. I mean, kind of? I don't know. I mean, desk view uses an
spk_0 ultra wide camera and it just tilts the thing. So it's going to be a FaceTime camera on the other side.
spk_0 Not a FaceTime camera. Not a FaceID. Not FaceID. Yeah. FaceTime.
spk_0 I think a FaceID essentially on the other side would be more useful. Yes, sort of.
spk_0 I didn't expect that when Mark German first reported about the two camera lens thing.
spk_0 Ever since, it's annoying me even more. The rare times I used my iPad, I always pick it up and put
spk_0 my fingers over the FaceID sensor. And it's always like, the FaceID sensor is covered.
spk_0 I'm like, if I add a camera on the other side, I wouldn't have this problem. If I had a FaceID
spk_0 sensor on the other side, it wouldn't have been from, but that's not what this is. It's just for like
spk_0 doing video conferencing, right? But yeah, the M5 iPad Pro design wise is basically identical.
spk_0 The most interesting thing here is it's our first look at the M5 chip. So there's some benchmark
spk_0 results in the video. It has a nine core CPU, which is the same as the M4 iPad Pro. It's around
spk_0 10% faster in single core performance and 15% faster in multi-core performance. In Geekbench
spk_0 testing, the Metal graphics performance is up 38% compared to the M4. And in two to testing,
spk_0 the GPU is about 8% better. I think for the most part, that's what we've expected for the M5 chip.
spk_0 Yeah, because the base architecture is what you see in the A19 Pro. Yep. So if you look at the
spk_0 differences in the A18 Pro and A19 Pro, you get a pretty good, you know, you can extrapolate from
spk_0 that to get what the M5 would be. So yeah, this is about right. The big GPU bump is partly because of
spk_0 the, like, what do they call them, neural accelerators that they put in all the GPU cores and stuff.
spk_0 And that will have an even more exaggerated impact when you go to the pro and the max M5s,
spk_0 because obviously they have a lot more GPU cores. The RAM thing here is also interesting. So right now,
spk_0 in the M4 iPad Pro, the 256 and 512 configurations have 8 gigabytes of RAM, and the one and two
spk_0 terabyte configurations have 16 gigabytes of RAM. The iPad Pro in the video is a 256 model,
spk_0 and it has 12 gigabytes of RAM. So that signals that those two base configurations will get a
spk_0 slight upgrade in RAM, but still not match the most expensive one and two terabyte options.
spk_0 And that kind of follows what they've done with the iPhone as well, right? Where they get the
spk_0 iPhone series, apart from the base 17 of a RAM bump this year as well. And obviously that carries
spk_0 through. Anything else on the M5 iPad Pro? I mean, this basically confirms that it's coming
spk_0 probably this month. Yeah, it's got to be out soon, right? And I think, again, the most fascinating
spk_0 thing about this is that it's happened twice now with unreleased products. The Russians are really
spk_0 good at leaking things that look identical to the... I assume I'll imagine it's because the MacBook
spk_0 Pro and the iPad Pro are made, I think, are assembled at least in Vietnam a lot,
spk_0 and other Apple products like the iPhone are not made or assembled in Vietnam. So that's the
spk_0 speculation I've seen about where these leaks are coming from. It's Foxconn in Vietnam somehow.
spk_0 I don't know if that's true, but I did see that somebody commented on this guy's video and said,
spk_0 show us the new MacBook Pro next and the channel liked the comment. So I wonder if the
spk_0 wonder of this guy is working on his M5 MacBook Pro video now. That's funny.
spk_0 But yeah, that is backbums. Your other source for Apple leaks this week, though.
spk_0 The FCC here in the United States. No, right now because it's shut down. That is true. Yeah,
spk_0 that source is drying up as we speak. But the FCC this week did publish some documents referencing
spk_0 unreleased model numbers for the MacBook Pro, the iPad Pro, and the Vision Pro. Again, nothing
spk_0 that you can discern from this other than further confirmation that new versions of those
spk_0 products are coming. Yeah, I mean, the Vision Pro had like a graphic that showed the physical design
spk_0 and shocker is the same as the French technical. Yeah. But this is obviously the M4,
spk_0 SXM5 spec bump. And if it's hitting the FCC, Apple applied with confidentiality, but
spk_0 they don't put them to the FCC months ahead, right? They do them just as late as they have to.
spk_0 Yeah. And so you have to imagine this is meant to come out again this month.
spk_0 There's going to be new products on October. Yeah, you're going to get the iPad Pro.
spk_0 You're going to get a Vision Pro that everyone then it'll give everybody a nice moment to be like,
spk_0 Oh, Apple doesn't know what they're doing in Vision. Because we want to buy this thing because
spk_0 it's still really expensive and all that's different is a price spec bump. But I would at least say
spk_0 it's better to sell something for three and a half grand with a modern CPU than a non-modern CPU.
spk_0 So you know, roll it over. And then the Mac Pro apparently. Yeah. And then with the
spk_0 Mac Pro, Goemon keeps saying that he doesn't know where they're coming out now or coming out
spk_0 early next year. And maybe there is a lot of you. But if they're on the FCC, you've got a thing
spk_0 they're ready. They're ready to go right. Well, and Goemon reported in power on last weekend
spk_0 that Apple is, I think he said, nearing production of the new Mac Pro with the M5 chip inside. So
spk_0 well, that Russian YouTube is nearing his video.
spk_0 That comes from the production line straight on the camera. Then Goemon also said that Apple is
spk_0 nearing production on two new external displays for the Mac. This story continues to
spk_0 perplex me because we don't know much really about what to expect from these displays.
spk_0 But this is now multiple times that he has confidently said there are two new models in the works.
spk_0 Logically, you would think that maybe one is the follow up to the studio display and one is
spk_0 follow up to the Pro display XDR. Or maybe it's two new versions of the studio display. One that's
spk_0 cheaper and one that's slightly higher end, but not as expensive as the XDR.
spk_0 Either way, though, I think of all the rumors. The idea of new external displays for Apple is
spk_0 what excites me the most. Oh, completely agree. Yeah. And Goemon for a while, he was on about the
spk_0 second-gen Pro display XDR. Then those kind of reports fell off. And then he was on about the
spk_0 second-gen studio display. And this newsletter, I feel like, is the first one he's been like,
spk_0 there's two new Mac monitors coming very soon. Like before, he was kind of just like,
spk_0 he was like, oh, maybe this new studio display coming out. It's like pluralized in print.
spk_0 So they're doing two monitors. Could it just be a studio display that's 27 and a studio
spk_0 play 32 inches, right? Because I'm kind of on, I don't have no idea, right? But I kind of don't
spk_0 think the Pro display XDR sells in anywhere near. I've quantities for them to care about it.
spk_0 Yeah, what idiot was that? Yeah, exactly. The Pro display XDR is firmly in the Mac Pro camp.
spk_0 And all we're hoping for the Mac Pro have gone out of the window. So are they really going to do
spk_0 like a whole five-grand new XDR display again? Seems unlikely to me. I kind of think they're
spk_0 going to do like a studio display. And then either a just a studio display in a different size,
spk_0 or it would be like studio display Pro. Yeah. And it's maybe the base one is still 60 hertz,
spk_0 and then the higher end one gets 120 or something, like, or a 5K versus a 6K maybe?
spk_0 Yeah, yeah. And it won't be like how the Pro display XDR has like all the different dimming
spk_0 zones and stuff. It would just be like whatever the base studio display gets is that what it will do.
spk_0 Yeah, they'll drop the weird stuff. Because the other thing that the Pro display XDR is,
spk_0 it's not even that kind of an edge anymore because it's so old, like, you can get more
spk_0 to some other people that are just better and cheaper. And so it's just kind of like four and
spk_0 out of favor. Even if you ignore the insane price. I need to be mean. It's 32 inches, so I'll give
spk_0 them that. But yeah, I could kind of see them just doing like a studio display and studio display
spk_0 32 inch model instead. And I'd be down. I've been waiting for these second generation Apple
spk_0 monitors for a long time. Maybe not to buy one, but like to at least choose, right? This is the
spk_0 moment where I'm going to choose. I'm going to get an Apple monitor or I'm going to get a third
spk_0 party monitor. And up until very recently, they weren't any compelling third party options.
spk_0 So are you tempted by this new LG UltraFine 6K display that they officially put up for pre-order
spk_0 this week? Yes. This is this was the one they first showed off at CES or kind of showed off
spk_0 at CES. I don't think anybody has ever seen it. But it looks pretty good. It's a 32 inch display
spk_0 with a 6K resolution. The same resolution as the Pro2XDR. So that's 218 pixels per inch
spk_0 as display port HDMI two Thunderbolt 5 ports and three normal USB-C ports. It's not as advanced as
spk_0 Pro2XDR and things like brightness and HDR. Yeah, it doesn't have all the dimming zones, right?
spk_0 But it is only, quote unquote, only $2,000 compared to the Pro2XDR at $5,000.
spk_0 Yeah, it's more like a studio display just in a 6K size and 32 inch size. Yeah. Yeah.
spk_0 It does take after the, or it does take after the Pro2XDR and the fact that it doesn't have speakers
spk_0 or a camera. So the design is good. At least in these pictures. It looks very studio display,
spk_0 slash Pro2XDR-ish. That's too bright including the stand, but yes. Yes. And the stand that is
spk_0 fully rotatable and height and tilt adjustable goes all the different ways. So is that cheaper than
spk_0 the Apple Studio display with the two-ing stand? I don't think so. It's close, right? It's definitely
spk_0 only close. So have a look. By-stue display, standard glass, the two-ton monitor, it's the same price.
spk_0 1,999. The thing with LG displays though is this build quality looks good on paper
spk_0 and the bezels look nice and even, but obviously you want to try it and see it in person to know
spk_0 the bezels being even is a big plus compared to some previous ultra-fran products.
spk_0 Yeah. So at least on the photos, I'm pretty pumped for it because the other thing that
spk_0 is a big decision maker for me in terms of what to buy, the Apple displays,
spk_0 the current displays only have one port. That's not true. The only have one display in.
spk_0 Oh, display it, yes. Sorry. Yes. Yes. That's what you mean.
spk_0 So because you have your PC to consider. Exactly. Yeah. I have two computers at the desk.
spk_0 And there aren't any good switches that, you know, there's not a good box where you can put in
spk_0 like a 6K signal and split it out into different laptops or different computers. It just doesn't
spk_0 never works. I've been exploring these options for the previous generation Apple monitors and never
spk_0 found anything satisfactory. The LG one has HDMI as display port, so I could plug in the Windows
spk_0 computer to one and the Thunderbolt dock for the other for the Mac and then just switch them on
spk_0 this screen. The Apple displays that they sell right now only have one port and I wouldn't be
spk_0 surprised if the new Apple displays only have one port too because they didn't expect you to use
spk_0 them with a Mac, right? But a big convenience for me is being able to use the same display across
spk_0 two computers. So that is definitely a big factor. But I would, I'm not going to rush out and pre-order
spk_0 the LG out to find 6K. Yeah. I will wait to see what the Apple displays are. I will wait to see
spk_0 the hands on with the LG display. I mean, I've been waiting a decade. I can wait a few more months,
spk_0 you know. But then one of these products is I'm going to buy. So you say within the next six months
spk_0 to a year, you'll probably have a new display. Assuming the Apple displays come out within the
spk_0 time frame. Yeah. Because at this point, I might as well wait and see what they are, right? And at
spk_0 least consider them. And if they had, because obviously the LG display doesn't have like 120 Hertz,
spk_0 right? Oh, yeah. So if the Apple displays came out and they had high refresh rate, I might buy it
spk_0 anyway, even if it did any of one port, you know, I guess I have to have two monitors on my desk.
spk_0 But if they're like, if the, if the display specs are basically identical, then I'll be more
spk_0 lean toward the LG one for the convenience of having the mobile in-bus. But as it stands right now,
spk_0 I'm happy to wait and see. I'm not buying anything. This pro display exterior is going to my grave
spk_0 even if they make a pro display XDR2. I think so. I don't, I don't think I can justify this again.
spk_0 This was a decade plus investment for sure.
