Hey guys, what's going on?
spk_0
It's Andy today in this podcast training video
spk_0
that I'm gonna put together with my boy Dominic.
spk_0
Histories unreal.
spk_0
It's literally unreal.
spk_0
And by the way, this video is gonna make you dream again.
spk_0
Some of you today is the start of your new life.
spk_0
Today is the day you're gonna come back, okay?
spk_0
And I'm gonna tell you this, like,
spk_0
I always say you're never defined by a last mistake.
spk_0
So a lot of people, they've done something,
spk_0
they live in shame, they got a problem,
spk_0
they're not winning now, they think I'm the life's over.
spk_0
You know, I'm not built for this.
spk_0
You can be built from one speaker, one event, one podcast,
spk_0
one training video, okay?
spk_0
And that's gonna happen today.
spk_0
So Dominic, I'm so glad you're here.
spk_0
Number one.
spk_0
Number two, me and Dominic are very similar.
spk_0
He's chasing the same dream.
spk_0
He wants to change millions of people's lives,
spk_0
but he could not change anyone else's life
spk_0
if he didn't change his own.
spk_0
And he has such a cool story.
spk_0
I believe every one of you that's looking for transformation,
spk_0
not information, you're looking for transformation.
spk_0
That means you really wanna change your life
spk_0
and you believe it's possible.
spk_0
Kill all distractions right now, listen to his story
spk_0
and you'll find yourself wrapped up somewhere in his story
spk_0
whether it's in the start, in the middle, or the end.
spk_0
And I promise you, this video will change your life.
spk_0
I wouldn't waste your time.
spk_0
So brother, let it rip.
spk_0
Tell us where it all got started and it's your show.
spk_0
First of all, it's an honor to be on the one percent
spk_0
of podcasts and I can't thank you enough
spk_0
for what you're doing for coaching organizations
spk_0
like ours, like the information that you're sharing
spk_0
is truly changing the game for my business.
spk_0
So I just wanna thank you for everything that you're doing.
spk_0
It's absolutely amazing.
spk_0
So my story goes back.
spk_0
I grew up in a small town, Farmington, Wisconsin.
spk_0
So a lot of people think farm towns
spk_0
when they think Wisconsin,
spk_0
unincorporated small town.
spk_0
I had 40 kids in my graduating class,
spk_0
but one thing I came from was a very competitive
spk_0
athletic background.
spk_0
So we had a small football team
spk_0
and I was the star running back.
spk_0
I had every rushing record in my school's history
spk_0
and I was also a wrestler.
spk_0
So my passionate sport,
spk_0
the sport that transformed my life
spk_0
and who I am as a man was wrestling by far.
spk_0
And I like in a lot of things that I do in my life
spk_0
to a wrestling match, right?
spk_0
Because it's full accountability, no excuse making, right?
spk_0
You can make excuses, you can make money.
spk_0
It's only two people on the mat.
spk_0
That's right, exactly.
spk_0
If I lose, I can't point fingers at anybody about myself.
spk_0
But you also have the team dynamic too
spk_0
and I was always team captain, helping coach
spk_0
and mentor and lead my team.
spk_0
So I developed leadership skills in that sport as well.
spk_0
But I grew up in a household that was very much
spk_0
the Euro program,
spk_0
you're gonna do physical labor the rest of your life.
spk_0
So my father owned a demolition company
spk_0
called RJ's West Side Demolition.
spk_0
And ever since I could walk,
spk_0
I had a sledgehammer in my hand.
spk_0
I was on job sites all summer long,
spk_0
I made some decent money,
spk_0
but just doing the most aggressive physical labor
spk_0
you can imagine even as a young kid.
spk_0
I remember there was one day I was working with my dad,
spk_0
I lost 13 pounds in a day,
spk_0
just sweating for fusing,
spk_0
drinking gallons of water,
spk_0
just like brunt,
spk_0
forced trauma on your body.
spk_0
And my father was very much like,
spk_0
you're not gonna make a living with your mind,
spk_0
you're gonna make a living with your hands.
spk_0
And he was very much against college,
spk_0
which I know a lot of people are,
spk_0
but he's like colleges where people go
spk_0
when they want to waste their parents money
spk_0
and party and drink and waste their life away
spk_0
and not go into the real world.
spk_0
Your dad was a hard worker.
spk_0
He was a hard worker
spk_0
and he sacrificed a lot for our family.
spk_0
And I learned a lot about what it takes to like,
spk_0
a day's work, right?
spk_0
16 hour days.
spk_0
I mean, he would come home just beat to hell,
spk_0
but he did it because he was gonna sacrifice
spk_0
whatever it took to support his family.
spk_0
So obviously mad respect.
spk_0
So, but when I graduated from high school,
spk_0
my mind said was, I'm gonna do physical labor.
spk_0
So the first job I got out of college
spk_0
or a high school rather was road construction.
spk_0
So I got a job working for a company called Zignego
spk_0
and it was a pretty easy interview
spk_0
because I was known throughout the areas
spk_0
of star athlete.
spk_0
And of course, if you're gonna hire somebody
spk_0
to do physical labor,
spk_0
athletic people like that are a no brainer, right?
spk_0
They can do a lot of physical labor,
spk_0
brunt force.
spk_0
So I got hired.
spk_0
Now, before I set foot on a job site,
spk_0
we had a record rain falls in Jefferson, Wisconsin,
spk_0
which is where I was from.
spk_0
Months, soons of rain.
spk_0
There were houses underwater and tire streets
spk_0
are shut down.
spk_0
The National Guard coming in and they blocked off everything.
spk_0
It was absolutely insane.
spk_0
So I got laid off before I ever even started.
spk_0
So I was living with my mom at the time
spk_0
in a small house in Jefferson, Wisconsin
spk_0
because my parents had separated when I was 16.
spk_0
But here I am, sorry, athlete, very competitive,
spk_0
sitting at my mom's house doing nothing with my life
spk_0
because I'm laid off and I was working out
spk_0
and trying to waste the day away doing other things.
spk_0
And then a two months go by, three months go by,
spk_0
I'm still just sitting there doing nothing with my life.
spk_0
And I'm like, what the hell?
spk_0
You're down in a common out of for God's sake.
spk_0
You gotta do something.
spk_0
So the first thought that came to my head
spk_0
wasn't I wanted to go to college.
spk_0
The first thought was, I think I want to wrestle again.
spk_0
So I was wrestling.
spk_0
There was the first thing that came to my mind.
spk_0
So I started doing research on local wrestling programs
spk_0
in the area and I saw that there was a university,
spk_0
15 minutes from my mom's house called UW Whitewater
spk_0
and they had a really highly rated wrestling program.
spk_0
So without any plan, by the way,
spk_0
I can relate to a lot of stuff you share.
spk_0
I was in the 50% of my class,
spk_0
I made the top 50% possible,
spk_0
struggled all through school,
spk_0
academically just really, really difficult.
spk_0
But in sports, I was really competitive,
spk_0
but because I struggled through high school,
spk_0
I didn't have enough credits to get into college.
spk_0
I think I got a 14 on my ACT and I was lucky to get that.
spk_0
I could have literally answered the letter C
spk_0
on everything and scored better on ACT.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
But I'm like, I'm gonna drive there
spk_0
and just see what this is all about.
spk_0
So I drive to UW Whitewater.
spk_0
I go to the university center
spk_0
where the head wrestling coach was named Tim Fader.
spk_0
And I look at the director as he were his offices
spk_0
and just on a whim, I go into his office
spk_0
with no idea what's gonna transpire here.
spk_0
And I introduce myself and I'm like,
spk_0
I'm Dominic Kamenata and by fate, he was there.
spk_0
Thank God.
spk_0
I'm Dominic Kamenata.
spk_0
I don't know why I'm here,
spk_0
but I think I want a wrestle for your team.
spk_0
He's like, you're Dominic Kamenata?
spk_0
I'm like, yeah.
spk_0
He's like, I know you.
spk_0
I saw your wrestle at state multiple times
spk_0
because I was a state competitor,
spk_0
state qualifiers on the podium many years.
spk_0
He's like, I saw you have a wicked double leg.
spk_0
So he actually impacted him so much with my double leg.
spk_0
Somehow you remembered me.
spk_0
He's like, my wrestling team is having lunch this afternoon
spk_0
if you want to come join us
spk_0
and have lunch with the team,
spk_0
just get to know us and see what it's all about.
spk_0
And if you feel like you struck a brother
spk_0
who with the team, come watch us in our practice tonight.
spk_0
I'm like, this sounds amazing.
spk_0
Of course.
spk_0
So I go have lunch with the team,
spk_0
immediately strike a bond with everybody.
spk_0
I'm falling in love with the brotherhood
spk_0
and they invite me to practice.
spk_0
And of course, I'm getting that eye of the tiger
spk_0
ignited back in my mind.
spk_0
I'm just like, I gotta be here.
spk_0
I need to make this happen.
spk_0
But I don't know the slightest thing about
spk_0
how I'm gonna actually get into this college.
spk_0
So what ended up happening was
spk_0
I spent several weeks just going to practice
spk_0
with the wrestling team, going to lunch with them,
spk_0
getting to know them.
spk_0
And I struck such a bond with the coaches
spk_0
and the athletes there that I had the whole wrestling team
spk_0
later, they wrote a letter recommendation
spk_0
to the university, basically begging and pleading
spk_0
to bypass my poor academics and let me in.
spk_0
It's like, every now and then they'll pull a name
spk_0
from a hat like a raffle
spk_0
and they'll give a kid a shot coming to school.
spk_0
And seemingly by fate, I got selected
spk_0
and they let me come into UW-Whitewater.
spk_0
Even though my academics by no means was qualified.
spk_0
You know why that happened because you had the courage
spk_0
to go to the school and then go try to see
spk_0
if the guy was there.
spk_0
I always say this, when you wanna change your life,
spk_0
you just do it, but everybody looks for the answers first.
spk_0
If you were to try to figure out what would have happened
spk_0
before you to went to the school,
spk_0
you'd never went to the school
spk_0
because you wouldn't have the answers.
spk_0
But once you went, you found the answers
spk_0
because you did it.
spk_0
And the entrepreneurship works like you do the thing
spk_0
and then the answers come.
spk_0
You don't get the answers before you do the thing.
spk_0
I think that's where a lot of people get stuck
spk_0
is they're so obsessed with the how.
spk_0
I don't wanna get stuck there.
spk_0
They're obsessed with the how.
spk_0
And once you make up your mind, you're gonna do some.
spk_0
You just gotta focus on execution
spk_0
and the how will figure itself out along the way.
spk_0
spk_0
So huge, huge lesson there for a lot of people listening.
spk_0
That first lesson will change everyone's life.
spk_0
All right, let's keep rolling.
spk_0
Yeah, so I started wrestling and I was doing very well.
spk_0
Made the varsity team, was competing against all Americans.
spk_0
Absolutely loved a freshman year.
spk_0
My wrestling was off to a good start,
spk_0
but what wasn't going well was my academics.
spk_0
So after my freshman year, I was getting like a 1.9 GPA
spk_0
and I was lucky to get that
spk_0
because I was so committed to wrestling
spk_0
that I was neglecting my academics.
spk_0
And as much as you wanna wrestle,
spk_0
if you're flunking out of school,
spk_0
you're not gonna be there very long.
spk_0
So I was literally put at this crossroads
spk_0
that I can keep going down this path
spk_0
and possibly get thrown out of school.
spk_0
Or for once in my life, I can start,
spk_0
stop making excuses for myself
spk_0
and take my academics seriously,
spk_0
improve to myself that I can use my brain to do things.
spk_0
Okay?
spk_0
Because I was very much like,
spk_0
just I'm just physically gonna dominate the world,
spk_0
but mentally, I never believed in myself.
spk_0
I had self-learn beliefs like you wouldn't believe mentally.
spk_0
Yeah, like you're not a good learner.
spk_0
Yeah, exactly.
spk_0
Yeah, it is a lie.
spk_0
So then my decision was,
spk_0
I'm gonna step back from wrestling
spk_0
because I realized that there wasn't much of a future
spk_0
in my life with D3 wrestling,
spk_0
even though it changed my life to work ethic,
spk_0
but the shift was, from now on,
spk_0
I'm gonna pour equal blood, sweat, and tears
spk_0
into my academics that I did into the sport of wrestling
spk_0
and just see what happens.
spk_0
And that shift, it sounds very simple,
spk_0
but just taking my academics seriously
spk_0
and treating like a competitive sport,
spk_0
I turned all my Ds and apps into A's and B's,
spk_0
I ended up having to retake a lot of stuff to get back,
spk_0
but I ended up graduating with a thing of 3.3 GPA,
spk_0
which isn't stellar,
spk_0
but from where I came from, was absolutely incredible.
spk_0
And one thing I really discovered
spk_0
about my abilities in college was,
spk_0
I was never really that great at taking tests
spk_0
and I got better as time went on,
spk_0
but I really thrived anytime I was given presentations.
spk_0
So anytime I got on front of people,
spk_0
given group presentations or individual presentations,
spk_0
that's where I really thrived.
spk_0
And where I really realized that I had a knack
spk_0
for something special, UW Whitewater,
spk_0
they had this competition every year called
spk_0
the Collegiate Entrepreneurship Business Plan Competition,
spk_0
where they allow all the students on campus
spk_0
to write a business plan
spk_0
and there's several stages of this competition.
spk_0
There's 14,000 students,
spk_0
so you're competing against a lot of people.
spk_0
And the final stage of this competition
spk_0
is just like Shark Tank.
spk_0
So you're in front of all these bankers, investors,
spk_0
and judges, and you're pitching your business idea
spk_0
and they decide which business venture
spk_0
is the most feasible to be invested in,
spk_0
what's gonna be the champion.
spk_0
And if you win this competition,
spk_0
you get an automatic A in several of your courses,
spk_0
you don't have to take the final exam,
spk_0
which has sweet music to my ears.
spk_0
And you get $5,000 cash.
spk_0
So I was just locked in on this competition.
spk_0
I'm like, I'm gonna dominate everybody in this thing.
spk_0
And I got to the finish line, delivered a master presentation.
spk_0
I won the competition, got an automatic A in three
spk_0
and my courses, got $5,000.
spk_0
One of my professors come up to me afterwards
spk_0
and he actually owned a hospital,
spk_0
so the guy's very wealthy.
spk_0
And he said, if you need a 2030 grand
spk_0
to get your business off the ground,
spk_0
let me know I'm interested in investing.
spk_0
And that's where I clicked from like, holy lord,
spk_0
I have a knack for giving master presentations
spk_0
when I have the right inspiration
spk_0
and passion for what I'm talking about.
spk_0
So I graduate from college.
spk_0
Good job.
spk_0
Yeah, thanks.
spk_0
Defying all odds.
spk_0
Yeah, so that's where I'm like, I do have gifts.
spk_0
It's under dog mentality.
spk_0
Yeah, I just didn't know what my gifts were
spk_0
and there was suppress, but like our theme
spk_0
of our last event was ignite the greatness within.
spk_0
And the reason why I made it that theme,
spk_0
because I believe we all do have our own greatness
spk_0
that is within us, it just needs to be ignited.
spk_0
Sometimes it can be ignited through inspiration,
spk_0
sometimes through trauma and emotional event.
spk_0
There's a lot of different things
spk_0
that can ignite that greatness.
spk_0
But that was really the pivotal moment in me
spk_0
where I'm like, I am capable of doing
spk_0
a lot more than I ever dreamed of.
spk_0
That's huge.
spk_0
But I graduated from college, like most people
spk_0
said, no clue what the hell I was gonna do.
spk_0
And it was my mother that suggested
spk_0
that I look for a job being an estimator
spk_0
for a construction company.
spk_0
So you can use their business degree,
spk_0
you don't have to do the physical labor,
spk_0
you can give estimates on jobs,
spk_0
and it's a really great living.
spk_0
You can make some good money.
spk_0
So I went on the Google machine
spk_0
and looked up estimates construction.
spk_0
And one of the ads that came up,
spk_0
it was actually Craigslist ad of all things.
spk_0
It said a rare opportunity.
spk_0
That was the headline of the ad,
spk_0
which I'm like, that sounds intriguing.
spk_0
So I click on the ad, and it's an ad
spk_0
by a company called Mad City Roofing Siding and Windows.
spk_0
The rare opportunity was an outside sales position.
spk_0
And it talked about you can make six figures your first year.
spk_0
Now when you come fresh out of college,
spk_0
six figures seems like a million dollars.
spk_0
I'm like, that doesn't seem real.
spk_0
And then it shows giving masterful presentations.
spk_0
I'm like, I can do that.
spk_0
And it says, home improvement.
spk_0
I'm like, I know a construction.
spk_0
I grew up around this stuff.
spk_0
And it says, you don't have to set your own leads.
spk_0
No door knock and no call calling.
spk_0
You just go in, you're the closer.
spk_0
I'm like, this seems like a legit opportunity.
spk_0
So I call on the ad, and I talk to this rayish,
spk_0
sunshineer name is Leanna.
spk_0
She was like arguably one of the brightest,
spk_0
most amazing people to talk to on the phone.
spk_0
She just had this amazing passion,
spk_0
energy about her when she was on the phone.
spk_0
And she really sold me on the company.
spk_0
And she loved my attitude.
spk_0
And of course, my ambition and all this stuff,
spk_0
even though I had zero sales experience,
spk_0
she got me an interview with Nathan Richmond,
spk_0
the president of Mad City.
spk_0
And they took a chance on me because of my attitude
spk_0
and my work ethic and my track record
spk_0
of putting in the effort to overcome all odds, right?
spk_0
So I get into this industry in 2010,
spk_0
that was about 15 years ago, with zero sales experience.
spk_0
And thankfully, Mad City at the time
spk_0
had just introduced the Grasso 10 step sales process.
spk_0
Now, I don't know if you've ever heard of sales
spk_0
being referred to as a paint by number system.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
So I love this analogy.
spk_0
And this is very much for me, like, would work.
spk_0
Because I didn't know the first thing about sales.
spk_0
Some would say I wouldn't be able to close the door
spk_0
with wind behind me.
spk_0
I learned this paint by number system,
spk_0
which you've ever done a paint by numbers.
spk_0
You don't have to be a natural born artist
spk_0
to create masterpieces.
spk_0
You just follow basic instructions
spk_0
and you can have predictable results.
spk_0
So learning this system in the beginning,
spk_0
I closed my first seven sales in a row,
spk_0
not having a clue what I was even doing.
spk_0
And I was so robotic in the house to a fault.
spk_0
I was like, Andy, that was step one, the intro.
spk_0
Let me go on to step two now,
spk_0
the needs assessment and or survey.
spk_0
Even though I was telegraphing my punches
spk_0
and so robotic, the shit was still working.
spk_0
And I'm like, holy cow, I started to quantify.
spk_0
I'm like, what if I could do this all month long?
spk_0
What if I could do this all year long?
spk_0
I'm just getting started.
spk_0
What if I can build upon this?
spk_0
So immediately it became obvious to me
spk_0
the life of freedom and abundance and fun and love
spk_0
I could have for myself by mastering this art,
spk_0
the sport that is sales.
spk_0
Yep.
spk_0
Now it wasn't easy though.
spk_0
I wanted to share this.
spk_0
So I closed my first seven sales in a row
spk_0
and I started telling myself, this shit's easy.
spk_0
Never say that.
spk_0
Now I think sales is simple, but it's not easy
spk_0
because you got to face a lot of adversity,
spk_0
a lot of rejection, a lot, you got to be mentally tough.
spk_0
Because when it up happening out of those seven sales,
spk_0
three of them canceled and two of them got declined
spk_0
for financing.
spk_0
So I went from being king of the world
spk_0
to now I'm considering veering and oncoming traffic.
spk_0
I'm like, this mental roller coaster was absolutely insane.
spk_0
So my first month I only sold 45,000 just struggled,
spk_0
struggled, struggled.
spk_0
Because I was timid.
spk_0
I had thin skin.
spk_0
I was giving up way too early.
spk_0
I was throwing in the towel.
spk_0
I didn't have that buyer-diamondality.
spk_0
They say, you know, you need to throw out
spk_0
the wishbone and grow a backbone.
spk_0
I did not have that.
spk_0
My second month I did much better, 49,000.
spk_0
I was literally on the chopping block.
spk_0
I could literally feel the blade like
spk_0
singin' the hairs in the back of my neck.
spk_0
I had hair back then.
spk_0
It's crazy.
spk_0
So I had to make a decision.
spk_0
I was at this crossroads in my sales career.
spk_0
And thankfully I'm competitive, right?
spk_0
I'm sure you've had moments like this.
spk_0
So I had this sales rep that got trained
spk_0
in the same class with me.
spk_0
And I'm not gonna name his name.
spk_0
His name is Ken.
spk_0
And I thought this guy was just the most annoying,
spk_0
frustrating, you know, being totally blunt.
spk_0
I thought he was a loser.
spk_0
And this guy was selling circles around me.
spk_0
So the month that I sold 49,000, he sold 115,000.
spk_0
And boy was he rubbing it in.
spk_0
And he was like, you know,
spk_0
talkin' all kinds of shit, making me feel like crap.
spk_0
And I'm like, you know what?
spk_0
From now on, I'm either gonna walk out with a sail.
spk_0
I'm gonna get physically removed.
spk_0
I got nothin' to lose, right?
spk_0
Cause I'm gonna get fired anyway.
spk_0
I'm like, no more giving up too early.
spk_0
They're gonna have to carry me out of the house.
spk_0
Cause I can't handle this guy selling circles around me
spk_0
anymore.
spk_0
And it was more, I just, I wanted to beat him.
spk_0
I wanted to beat him.
spk_0
That was my motivation.
spk_0
And that's where the epiphany happened.
spk_0
I realized that when I was able to hang in there and go for the know,
spk_0
a few more times with a relaxed assertive confidence,
spk_0
I was tapping into the vast ocean of opportunity
spk_0
where most people buy.
spk_0
Cause there's a lot of studies that show that 82% of consumers
spk_0
will buy after four or five objections.
spk_0
Yeah, winners live or a quarter is quit.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
And I wasn't getting thrown out at all.
spk_0
I was walking out with sails.
spk_0
And that month, my third month, I sold 150,000,
spk_0
was a record month for the company.
spk_0
My fourth month, 225,000,
spk_0
then 300,000, and even with a terrible start,
spk_0
my first six months in the game,
spk_0
I sold just shy of a million dollars in home improvement sales.
spk_0
It clicked.
spk_0
And then it was like, I'm not looking back.
spk_0
Like, I get it now.
spk_0
I had the epiphany.
spk_0
I needed to get that alligator skin,
spk_0
develop some obstacle immunity.
spk_0
So I could go for the know.
spk_0
And this is where I love what you say.
spk_0
Like, if you have a product that you know,
spk_0
can help someone solve a problem,
spk_0
add value to their life is disrespectful to give up on them.
spk_0
Backs.
spk_0
I love when you say that, by the way.
spk_0
Yeah, because it's your obligation.
spk_0
It is your obligation.
spk_0
Yeah, they just don't understand how good it is yet.
spk_0
You haven't done a good enough job explaining how good it is yet.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
So there's a belief issue.
spk_0
There's a perspective issue.
spk_0
There's an identity issue.
spk_0
There's a delivery issue.
spk_0
But the product's still great.
spk_0
Right. And the people still want to help.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
So don't be disrespectful.
spk_0
So it's crazy if you just kind of rewind this whole story.
spk_0
Like, if it hadn't rained,
spk_0
I'd probably still be doing road construction right now.
spk_0
And I think about that a lot.
spk_0
I always say this.
spk_0
Sometimes the best, the worst thing that ever happened to you
spk_0
is the best thing that ever happened to you.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
And so like a lot of people are going through something right now.
spk_0
And they're like, man, my life, you're like, dude, listen,
spk_0
you're going to look up in two years.
spk_0
And you're going to think God that this thing happened.
spk_0
Right.
spk_0
And sometimes the best thing that never happened
spk_0
is the best thing that happened.
spk_0
A lot of people like, man, this girl broke up with me.
spk_0
You're like, dude, wait till you look up in two years
spk_0
and you're with your dream life.
spk_0
Right.
spk_0
I come on to you.
spk_0
Don't be dumb.
spk_0
And they can't see that today.
spk_0
And I think that that's the secret to sales people
spk_0
is they have hope in a future.
spk_0
They always have a compelling future.
spk_0
Tomorrow's going to be better than today.
spk_0
Right.
spk_0
Right.
spk_0
Like we know tomorrow's going to be so good.
spk_0
We're giving it all today.
spk_0
And it's just like, we're hungry as hell.
spk_0
That's what keeps us hungry.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
If anyone watching this knows that tomorrow's
spk_0
going to be better than today, you would give all you have.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
Because you're like, I'm the luckiest son of the rich in the world.
spk_0
And so people that don't think that tomorrow's going
spk_0
to be better than today, they're not hungry.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
And the difference between all humans,
spk_0
other than the way they deliver information,
spk_0
is how hungry they are.
spk_0
Mm-hmm.
spk_0
I agree.
spk_0
But you've always had this hunger.
spk_0
And that's why you kept,
spk_0
approaching these opportunities that against all odds
spk_0
were supposed to happen.
spk_0
They all happened.
spk_0
No one wants to stand in front of somebody
spk_0
that won't stop attacking.
spk_0
And the key is if everybody's listening,
spk_0
this guy keeps attacking,
spk_0
even though it's unrealistic.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
And so unrealistic things keep happening to you.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
Right.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
Which by the way, are absolutely realistic.
spk_0
Because God's children, like God wants his children
spk_0
to get what they want.
spk_0
But people always say, I trust in God,
spk_0
but can God trust in you?
spk_0
Right.
spk_0
And he trusted in you and you trusted in him
spk_0
and all these things keep happening.
spk_0
Whether you knew he was in your life at that point or not,
spk_0
all these things happen because of faith.
spk_0
And you keep going because of faith, because of faith.
spk_0
Success is faith.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
It's very hard.
spk_0
And I don't need people to believe in God,
spk_0
but it's very hard to get people to go very far
spk_0
without faith because faith is believing in something
spk_0
you can't see.
spk_0
Right.
spk_0
That's why I love you recommended the book
spk_0
outwitting the devil.
spk_0
All right.
spk_0
There's fear in their faith and I really love that.
spk_0
The drifters, he talks about the drifters.
spk_0
And he talks about the devil can only have as much
spk_0
as your mind as you'll give him.
spk_0
Mm-hmm.
spk_0
Think about it.
spk_0
The times that we're losing, it's because we've given
spk_0
the devil control of our mind.
spk_0
Right.
spk_0
But he can only take as much as you'll give him.
spk_0
Correct.
spk_0
So who's giving him it?
spk_0
You are.
spk_0
You are.
spk_0
Take it back.
spk_0
Yep.
spk_0
Have accurate thinking.
spk_0
Stop drifting.
spk_0
Get disciplined.
spk_0
Take care of yourself.
spk_0
You know?
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
And that's kind of where I felt like that moment
spk_0
where I was just living with my mom doing nothing.
spk_0
I was just drifting along waiting for the phone to ring,
spk_0
waiting for somebody to give me an opportunity.
spk_0
I'm like, I just got to do this for myself.
spk_0
I just got to make a change.
spk_0
You stop drifting.
spk_0
And then look, every time you go through,
spk_0
it's because you had accurate thinking
spk_0
and you stopped drifting.
spk_0
Do the book is so good.
spk_0
So I've listened to it several times
spk_0
since you recommended it.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
I chew it up.
spk_0
And every time I listen to it, it's like I'm a different person.
spk_0
So it's almost like listening to a new book.
spk_0
Yep.
spk_0
It's like damn.
spk_0
That's why I love that where you say,
spk_0
instead of reading 10 books, listen to the right book
spk_0
10 times, like really internalize it.
spk_0
And then you take time between
spk_0
as you have new experiences and new challenges
spk_0
to listen to again, it sounds different.
spk_0
Even though it's the same book,
spk_0
you take different things away from it.
spk_0
Yeah, exactly.
spk_0
It's like reading the Bible, right?
spk_0
Like it's you read something, you know,
spk_0
when you first, you know, became a Christian
spk_0
and then you read something
spk_0
when you're going through hell in your life.
spk_0
And then you read something when your life
spk_0
is going really good and everything's easy.
spk_0
It all means different stuff.
spk_0
You know, sometimes it makes you cry.
spk_0
Sometimes it gets you fired up.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
You know, it's like, it's just crazy, you know.
spk_0
And so, and by the way, all the things
spk_0
that you're doing are biblical.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
The old is gone, the new is gone.
spk_0
And then Romans 12, too, it says, don't conform.
spk_0
You're not conforming to anybody.
spk_0
You're actually doing what most people think
spk_0
would be impossible, but all things are possible.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
It's all biblical.
spk_0
Even though it's self-development.
spk_0
And this whole story, I mean,
spk_0
this is just the beginning of my journey, right?
spk_0
So when I first got recognized as salesman of the year
spk_0
for the first time that we did a little small awards ceremony,
spk_0
we only had like six salespeople on our staff
spk_0
at the time, so very tiny.
spk_0
But we had a special guest for this award ceremony
spk_0
that I've been listening to and looking up to
spk_0
for a long time, his name was Rick Grasso.
spk_0
So of course, I named my business
spk_0
Grasso University after him,
spk_0
paying tribute to my mentor that changed my life.
spk_0
It's amazing.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
So he came as a special guest.
spk_0
And those of you watching,
spk_0
if you ever heard of Rick Grasso,
spk_0
I was like to say he's like the zigzaggo
spk_0
of the homely proven industry.
spk_0
But he always had a smile on his face
spk_0
so why he could put a banana in their sideways.
spk_0
He always wears Robert Graham dress shirts
spk_0
with the cuss folded back.
spk_0
He had a solid gold Rolex watch.
spk_0
And he was just like a huge personality.
spk_0
The guy's father.
spk_0
Yeah, exactly.
spk_0
And he came into this dinner
spk_0
and I'm sitting right next to him, of course.
spk_0
And I'm just in awe.
spk_0
It's like an inspirational figure.
spk_0
You've always looked up to you,
spk_0
finally get to meet for the first time.
spk_0
Just like this, by the way.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
It's a really good moment in my life.
spk_0
So meeting Rick for the first time,
spk_0
he's sharing his story about how he's transformed
spk_0
thousands of people's lives
spk_0
and influence all these massive organizations
spk_0
just by sharing his wisdom with the world
spk_0
and traveling around in the life of freedom
spk_0
that he's built for himself and his family.
spk_0
It was a very emotional moment in my life
spk_0
and don't ask him why,
spk_0
but at that dinner that night,
spk_0
this is back in 2011,
spk_0
I made up my mind.
spk_0
I didn't just say this is gonna happen.
spk_0
I made up my mind that I am going to be the next Rick Grasso.
spk_0
I am going to be him.
spk_0
And I realized that that wasn't gonna come easy.
spk_0
It wasn't gonna be handed to me.
spk_0
I had to earn it, but I made up my mind.
spk_0
You talk about the power of the made up mind
spk_0
and thinking into results.
spk_0
That was an emotional pivotal moment in my life
spk_0
where I'm like, I don't just want to learn the system
spk_0
to be good at sales.
spk_0
I want to be him.
spk_0
I knew he was gonna be getting up there in Asia.
spk_0
At some point, he wanted someone he could trust
spk_0
to hand his legacy to.
spk_0
So I'm like, I'm gonna be that guy that's gonna be me.
spk_0
The clock just hadn't caught up yet.
spk_0
I knew it was gonna happen.
spk_0
So I used that fuel as like the burning desire,
spk_0
the motivation, inspiration to do something
spk_0
really, really powerful.
spk_0
So I like the Brian Tracy Quote series.
spk_0
He said, be the kind of leader that people will follow
spk_0
voluntarily, even if you have no title or position.
spk_0
So I started being a leader and commander of the team,
spk_0
even though I wasn't the leader on an org chart.
spk_0
Because of course, as him having all these success,
spk_0
the salespeople are asking, what are you doing Dominic?
spk_0
I'm like, I'm following the system bro.
spk_0
It's right here.
spk_0
I'm following the system.
spk_0
I'm mastering it.
spk_0
Of course, I'm building upon it
spk_0
because I think the right sales process,
spk_0
the foundation needs to be built upon over time.
spk_0
And having all this success,
spk_0
so people start following me, even though I'm not their leader.
spk_0
And I welcomed him to open arms.
spk_0
I love teaching.
spk_0
I love coaching.
spk_0
I love helping people.
spk_0
Yep.
spk_0
And essentially, after three years of being
spk_0
the top salesperson at Mad City and coaching all these sales
spk_0
people to success and transforming the culture,
spk_0
I finally got that role officially in the org chart
spk_0
as a sales trainer, sales director.
spk_0
And that's where I'm like, this is my chance
spk_0
to prove to the world and to myself
spk_0
that I can build the most powerful,
spk_0
highest performing sales team this industry has ever seen.
spk_0
So from 2012 to 2019, so that's seven year time frame,
spk_0
I was able to grow that sales team
spk_0
from 8 million to 100 million.
spk_0
And I was managing Wisconsin's largest adult daycare center.
spk_0
But I had 55 sales warriors.
spk_0
And they got to the point,
spk_0
because I was looking at some stats on the industry,
spk_0
which pisses me off, by the way.
spk_0
But less than half a percent of sales people
spk_0
in the home improvement industry make 200 grand a year.
spk_0
Less than half a percent.
spk_0
Are you kidding me?
spk_0
That's unacceptable.
spk_0
If you were not doing $2 million a year
spk_0
in our sales team, you were at the bottom of the leaderboard.
spk_0
You were like basically on the chopping block.
spk_0
You're a worse guy was anybody else's best guy.
spk_0
Exactly.
spk_0
So that was the culture and it was crazy.
spk_0
And this is where, and this is what you're experiencing
spk_0
with your organization.
spk_0
When we bring people into this environment,
spk_0
it transforms them in ways you can't even believe, right?
spk_0
Fine blowing.
spk_0
So I'd bring people that thought they were doing well
spk_0
at like one million, they would come into our sales team
spk_0
and they'd be doing with three, four million in sales
spk_0
in a year.
spk_0
I had a rep set.
spk_0
There's one story where this guy was selling cell phones
spk_0
at U.S. Cellar making 40 grand a year.
spk_0
And his first year in my team made $380,000 in commission
spk_0
transformed his life.
spk_0
And this guy English was a second language.
spk_0
He didn't know anything.
spk_0
He didn't know how to use a tape measure.
spk_0
He didn't know anything about home improvements.
spk_0
10 times a thing.
spk_0
Learned the system transformed his life.
spk_0
I had a guy that was homeless living out of his mini-cooper
spk_0
of all cars.
spk_0
They came into the training, transformed his life.
spk_0
Two years later, he bought a dream house on a lake.
spk_0
He had a Mustang 5.0.
spk_0
He had a new fiance transformed their life.
spk_0
And if that doesn't get people fired up,
spk_0
I don't know what does.
spk_0
But that whole journey was so transformative in nature.
spk_0
And the timing was immaculate for me.
spk_0
And this is why faith is a powerful thing, right?
spk_0
That what we're talking about.
spk_0
In 2019, Rick Grasso announced that he's going to be doing
spk_0
his last ever closers camp.
spk_0
So he had these sales training events called closers camps.
spk_0
He'd been doing them for decades.
spk_0
And he announced this is going to be the last one ever.
spk_0
I'm like, shit, this is my opportunity.
spk_0
Like I got to be there.
spk_0
And if you have ever attended a closers camp,
spk_0
it's a sales competition.
spk_0
So when you're going there, you're competing against
spk_0
hundreds of other sales warriors
spk_0
to be recognized as closers camp champion.
spk_0
And I go there and at this time, I'm pretty cocky about it.
spk_0
Like I felt I knew Grasso better than Grasso and then some,
spk_0
you know, and I wanted to prove that.
spk_0
But nobody knows this stuff better than me.
spk_0
And I've built up on it.
spk_0
I've expanded upon it.
spk_0
I've taken it to levels.
spk_0
It's never been.
spk_0
So I go to this competition, mop the floor with everybody.
spk_0
Become the last ever closers camp champion.
spk_0
Now one thing, Rick Grasso always taught to me that we train
spk_0
is you never asked for the business.
spk_0
You assume the order.
spk_0
You assume it.
spk_0
So we don't ask permission.
spk_0
And we assume it as if they've already said yes.
spk_0
So I'm like, well, that's a Rick Grasso strategy
spk_0
that I'm going to deploy on him right now.
spk_0
So I take Rick Grasso out to dinner.
spk_0
Now he's a big fan of his red wines.
spk_0
So I made sure to order him a really nice bottle of wine.
spk_0
Got him feeling good.
spk_0
And it was a nice French style beast row.
spk_0
This is a Washington DC.
spk_0
And I wanted to let him know that it was an honor
spk_0
to be his last ever closers camp champion.
spk_0
And his legacy literally transformed my life.
spk_0
And the real reason I'm here is I just wanted to tell him
spk_0
in person that I'm taking over his legacy.
spk_0
So just like if you're Rick,
spk_0
I said the reason why I'm here is because I just want
spk_0
to tell you in person, I'm going to be taken over your legacy.
spk_0
Yep.
spk_0
And I just paused and he looked at me smile.
spk_0
He's like, I couldn't think of anybody better.
spk_0
I'm like, yes.
spk_0
Okay.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
So basically if you believe it, you can achieve it.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
Conor McGregor said it all the time.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
He's like I envision minute two, you know, 20 seconds in,
spk_0
round two, I'm just going to roundhouse kick this guy
spk_0
in the head, knock him out.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
And they remember he would go do it.
spk_0
Mm hmm.
spk_0
He like manifested that happening.
spk_0
You manifested that happening.
spk_0
It's similar to professional golfers.
spk_0
They always envision every shot they make before they actually
spk_0
make the shot.
spk_0
And the more clear that vision is is to where the ball is going
spk_0
to go and how they're going to swing.
spk_0
Same in sales.
spk_0
Exactly.
spk_0
100%.
spk_0
You know, you see them signing before they ever signed.
spk_0
You have to.
spk_0
And you don't ever envision anything else.
spk_0
Even possibly happening.
spk_0
Right.
spk_0
And it's people think it's surprising, right?
spk_0
When they get, they get to know it or when they get a yes,
spk_0
it's like surprising if someone says no to me.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
It should be.
spk_0
That should be more rare.
spk_0
Most people get surprised when they get a yes.
spk_0
Like I present, they're like, yes, they're like, oh,
spk_0
and it's like you can tell they're a little shot.
spk_0
I'm like super surprised if someone says no.
spk_0
Right.
spk_0
Because you're a sniper.
spk_0
Like you know this shot.
spk_0
You've shot this shot.
spk_0
You know what I mean?
spk_0
And by the way, you are where you are right now
spk_0
because you trained.
spk_0
I mean, in case anybody just like wants to look back,
spk_0
you prepared, you trained when you're a good wrestler
spk_0
because you trained, right?
spk_0
You were good at presentations because you trained.
spk_0
You trained really hard because you go, say,
spk_0
I'm going to take these guys out.
spk_0
Michael Jordan had the top 50 hit list.
spk_0
I'm going to take these guys out, but he trained to take them out.
spk_0
You trained when you were going to this
spk_0
closures competition.
spk_0
You know, people could assume that you did it,
spk_0
but I know that you trained actively to get prepared
spk_0
for any scenario that could come up.
spk_0
And it never stops.
spk_0
So like yourself, we have an online university
spk_0
of hundreds of hours of sales training content.
spk_0
I watched twice as much of our own content last year
spk_0
as anyone else in the country.
spk_0
So I'm still watching it, especially like I'll go to do
spk_0
an in-person training or an event.
spk_0
I'm constantly trying to sharpen the axe, trying to improve.
spk_0
And by the way, can I give a shout out to my wife, Kelly.
spk_0
So my wife, Kelly, she's in the studio here with us.
spk_0
I can honestly say, so we've been high school sweethearts
spk_0
since we were 15 and 16.
spk_0
And she's been really the foundation of my life
spk_0
that has given me the courage and confidence
spk_0
to believe in myself when sometimes I haven't.
spk_0
And she gives me the kick in the ass when I need it,
spk_0
which is often, but I believe that behind, you know,
spk_0
a lot of great men is a great and powerful woman.
spk_0
So yeah, beside, yeah, exactly.
spk_0
Yeah, really it is, because honestly,
spk_0
and really sometimes she's behind me,
spk_0
because she's pushing me.
spk_0
She's like, even in front of you.
spk_0
Yeah, exactly.
spk_0
Like my wife, she's always in front of me.
spk_0
Yeah, pulling you.
spk_0
Yeah, like, and she's really pulling, you know what I'm saying?
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
And so I agree with that.
spk_0
Good.
spk_0
So you got the best wife in the world.
spk_0
And you guys have been through this whole journey together.
spk_0
She's seen you become all these different men.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
And so you crushed this competition.
spk_0
You say, hey, I'm taking over the legacy.
spk_0
He nods his head, says yes.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
Now tell me what's happening.
spk_0
What's going on?
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
So since 2019, I got a simple mission.
spk_0
I'm very help bent on building the most powerful,
spk_0
comprehensive sales training coaching group
spk_0
in the history of the home improvement industry.
spk_0
And I want to take it worldwide.
spk_0
So anybody in the home service space right now?
spk_0
Yeah, home improvement, home service, all that stuff.
spk_0
spk_0
So they're owners, they're individual salespeople.
spk_0
So you want B2B, B2C.
spk_0
Right.
spk_0
How do they connect with you?
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
So we got grass university.com is our primary website.
spk_0
GROSS.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
GROSS, so university.com.
spk_0
OK.
spk_0
So that's the easiest way to connect with us.
spk_0
You can see a lot of our programs on there.
spk_0
One of the things I'm proud of is we
spk_0
have a full talent solution service.
spk_0
Because there's a lot of pain points companies have.
spk_0
They have a hard time training their reps.
spk_0
We can train your reps for you.
spk_0
They have a hard time recruiting their reps.
spk_0
We can recruit your reps for you.
spk_0
They have a hard time, you know, with lead acquisition
spk_0
and all this stuff.
spk_0
We staff train leads.
spk_0
Yep.
spk_0
All of that.
spk_0
So somebody pretty much from phone call to install
spk_0
everyone between we got coaching consulting programs for you.
spk_0
They need to set up a call with you.
spk_0
And so they can tell you what they're struggling with.
spk_0
spk_0
And we customize the solution.
spk_0
And we're all about profits for sanity.
spk_0
So when a Rick Grouse's favorite quotes
spk_0
is volume-servantity profits for sanity.
spk_0
But that's been the journey.
spk_0
And we've launched a whole bunch of programs.
spk_0
And what our programs are designed to do is basically
spk_0
all those areas where companies don't have the bandwidth
spk_0
or the skill set or even the world-thaw or desire
spk_0
to basically offer their team, whether it's sales training,
spk_0
whether it's leadership training.
spk_0
We basically offer programs to do the heavy lifting for them
spk_0
so they can work on their business, not in their business.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
And without these things, you can't grow.
spk_0
Right.
spk_0
It's physically impossible.
spk_0
Yeah, I mean, you can grow in the beginning
spk_0
off momentum, hard work, and drive.
spk_0
But you're never going to get to these 10,50,50,100,000,
spk_0
a lot of smaller companies never get off the two to three million.
spk_0
Yeah, exactly.
spk_0
And they never become owners.
spk_0
Yeah, they never become employees.
spk_0
They stay employees.
spk_0
And honestly, a lot of the people watching this,
spk_0
even if the owner's good.
spk_0
And he's making good money, the question is, is your team good?
spk_0
Because if your dream is big enough to hold the dreams
spk_0
of all the people in your company, your people will leave.
spk_0
And so the reason why training is important,
spk_0
because the company isn't growing, it's dying.
spk_0
Yeah, I agree.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
And plus, a company that's not growing is under attack
spk_0
by other companies who are growing.
spk_0
You know what's interesting?
spk_0
Most of the companies that hire me, hire my group
spk_0
are people that are doing really well.
spk_0
They're actually like crushing their goals.
spk_0
They demand training.
spk_0
You talk a lot about momentum, right?
spk_0
They understand, OK, we have a lot of positive momentum.
spk_0
We need to keep fanning this flame and pouring gasoline
spk_0
into jet fuel on this thing.
spk_0
So those are the companies that are most inclined,
spk_0
where the good news is, no matter what stage you're at,
spk_0
we can provide coaching and consulting.
spk_0
It's all about customized solution.
spk_0
A couple of things I'm really proud of.
spk_0
We are the first fully bilingual sales training group
spk_0
in the home improvement industry.
spk_0
So cool.
spk_0
Because a lot of people don't know this.
spk_0
But the Spanish demographic in the United States
spk_0
is the fifth largest GDP of any country on Earth.
spk_0
And it's being completely neglected.
spk_0
No one's paying any attention to them.
spk_0
And it's very simple.
spk_0
They would love the opportunity to be able to purchase goods
spk_0
and services in their native language.
spk_0
And a lot of people are not offering that.
spk_0
So that's one thing I'm really, really proud of.
spk_0
So between the ongoing training we have in English and Spanish,
spk_0
the recruiting services, all about providing
spk_0
that additional support and resources
spk_0
so these companies can grow and scale profitably.
spk_0
And it's all about profitability.
spk_0
I just wanted to talk about Rick Grasso again.
spk_0
So last year he actually passed April 8, 2024.
spk_0
And my mission is to make sure his legacy is remembered forever,
spk_0
and obviously I want to make my own legacy.
spk_0
But I want to make sure the Grasso legacy lives on.
spk_0
Because it literally coming from zero experience,
spk_0
getting this gift.
spk_0
And I feel like it's the gift that keeps on giving.
spk_0
I want to pay it forward to as many people as I can.
spk_0
It changed my life.
spk_0
And I know you talk about changing lives all the time.
spk_0
It's really what it's all about.
spk_0
There's many lives that we can impact.
spk_0
Yeah, I always say there's three steps to leadership.
spk_0
Number one is self-leadership.
spk_0
Right?
spk_0
You know, so Mr. Grasso stepped up, changed his life.
spk_0
And then step two is lead others.
spk_0
And then when he changed his life,
spk_0
he became a good leader.
spk_0
You recognized him as a good leader.
spk_0
And so now he led you.
spk_0
And then leaders don't make followers.
spk_0
Leaders make leaders.
spk_0
Right.
spk_0
Real leaders.
spk_0
Right?
spk_0
Because leadership is a skill of influence.
spk_0
And he influenced you to become a true leader
spk_0
as your identity.
spk_0
You know what I'm saying?
spk_0
Like leadership isn't a position.
spk_0
It's not like flip it on.
spk_0
Hey, everybody people say, man, I got to flip the switch.
spk_0
I'm going to work.
spk_0
You're like, I don't get it.
spk_0
Winners don't have a switch.
spk_0
spk_0
They're an absence of an off switch.
spk_0
Like I don't turn off.
spk_0
Right.
spk_0
OK, if I'm not at here, then I'm obsessed with my kids.
spk_0
I'm obsessed with my wife.
spk_0
I'm obsessed with the gym.
spk_0
If you crack open any successful person,
spk_0
their bat should crazy.
spk_0
They're very extreme.
spk_0
Especially in the home improvement industry.
spk_0
Yeah, they're extreme, but they don't make statues
spk_0
of the haters and their critics.
spk_0
They make statues of the crazy dreamers.
spk_0
And crazy dreamers, they want to delegate their sleep.
spk_0
They don't want to sleep.
spk_0
They want to keep winning.
spk_0
They know tomorrow's going to be better than today.
spk_0
So they go crazy.
spk_0
And so basically this guy self-led himself, right?
spk_0
And then he led you and then you became a leader.
spk_0
And then you, which is step three, built more leaders.
spk_0
Right.
spk_0
That's what I spend most of my days doing.
spk_0
Yeah. And by the way, like now you're running the play,
spk_0
you self-led yourself.
spk_0
Now you're leading your students.
spk_0
And now you want your students to build more leaders.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
That's it.
spk_0
And this truly is your ministry.
spk_0
Right.
spk_0
It's not in a church.
spk_0
We are the church.
spk_0
But it's not in a church.
spk_0
It's out on the streets.
spk_0
And I'm going to tell you like biblical, self-development
spk_0
is biblical.
spk_0
And the Bible says the old is gone, the new is gone.
spk_0
Saul who was a Christian killer
spk_0
end up taking the Bible the furthest and the New Testament.
spk_0
He was the poster child of the New Testament.
spk_0
And if anybody loves a possible Paul,
spk_0
they're like, oh my God, a possible Paul.
spk_0
Go back and read who he used to be.
spk_0
And most people are like, wait a minute.
spk_0
That guy killed people.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
He was like, whoa, wait a minute.
spk_0
And more seval.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
Yeah, like so I want everybody to know that basically,
spk_0
I preach the come back in.
spk_0
Anyone can come back.
spk_0
Anyone.
spk_0
If you fall off, get back on.
spk_0
And I said, winners live or quitters quint.
spk_0
If you want to win, you just have to make a commitment
spk_0
to not quit.
spk_0
That's first and foremost.
spk_0
And by the way, if you guys listen,
spk_0
he knew, and your wife knew obviously, there's, listen,
spk_0
I know sometimes you don't know who you want to be.
spk_0
But you know who you don't want to be.
spk_0
And you didn't want to be,
spk_0
mad respect to your dad for teaching you hard work, I think,
spk_0
which nothing can get done without hard work.
spk_0
But you wanted to use your mind.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
And so that you said, hey, dad, thanks for the hard work.
spk_0
However, I'm going to break the generational curses
spk_0
of us breaking our bodies down.
spk_0
And we're going to use our minds.
spk_0
And you created a mastermind.
spk_0
And you joined one and then you created one.
spk_0
That's called generational curse breaking now.
spk_0
That's called the biggest impact.
spk_0
When you can change your life, I believe God now
spk_0
qualifies you to change other people's lives.
spk_0
So anybody that's watching this today,
spk_0
you solved your own problems in your own life.
spk_0
You didn't do it by yourself.
spk_0
You did it with the help of others.
spk_0
And now other people can do it by watching you
spk_0
and learning from you.
spk_0
And then when they fix themselves,
spk_0
now they're qualified to help others.
spk_0
God's looking at calling out leaders right now, right?
spk_0
Like honestly, like leaders.
spk_0
Like a lot of the times when people become like Christians
spk_0
or they change their life, they're like,
spk_0
oh, I'm going to be good now.
spk_0
And I'm going to be quiet and shut up.
spk_0
No, dude, I'm going to be a rebel.
spk_0
Okay, I'm going to get out there.
spk_0
I'm going to flip the tables.
spk_0
I'm not going to be meek.
spk_0
I'm not going to be weak.
spk_0
I'm not going to be a sheep.
spk_0
I'm going to be a leader.
spk_0
I'm going to be loud.
spk_0
I'm going to get out on the front line.
spk_0
I'm going to tell the hard truth.
spk_0
The hard truth, because all change starts
spk_0
with honesty and the truth.
spk_0
You've never been able to make somebody want it.
spk_0
They have to want it on the run.
spk_0
They have to want it.
spk_0
And the one thing that I know about you
spk_0
through your entire story is you always wanted it.
spk_0
Okay, so everybody watching this, get your ass hungry.
spk_0
And then secondly, you need someone by your side
spk_0
so they can keep feeding your mind, right?
spk_0
And that's what the training does.
spk_0
The training isn't always about high income skill,
spk_0
like how to make more money.
spk_0
Sometimes it's about just like accurate thinking, right?
spk_0
Like your mind, it's like, it's like,
spk_0
I envision all these airplanes flying around your head
spk_0
right now.
spk_0
And some of them are bad airplanes.
spk_0
Some of them are good.
spk_0
Some of them are good thoughts.
spk_0
Some of them are bad.
spk_0
And don't land those bad airplanes.
spk_0
Don't land them.
spk_0
A thought.
spk_0
Yeah, the good wolf and the bad wolf and the algae.
spk_0
Yeah, which one do you feed?
spk_0
Feed the good wolf.
spk_0
Feed the good wolf.
spk_0
Feed the courage, feed the hunger, feed the, I can do it.
spk_0
Feed, don't feed the doubt.
spk_0
You know, doubts a trader, right?
spk_0
Everybody's going to betray you at some point.
spk_0
Other than your wife, most people will betray you.
spk_0
If you're lucky and you have five to 10 people
spk_0
on one hand that don't you're lucky.
spk_0
Because most people at some point change.
spk_0
And so, but don't betray yourself, right?
spk_0
spk_0
Like, you know, people have to understand too
spk_0
that they have a hard time admitting this
spk_0
that most people are not in control over their behavior.
spk_0
Because our behavior is programmed
spk_0
based on the repetitive content we allow ourselves
spk_0
to be exposed to, right?
spk_0
So if I'm watching, you know, the mainstream media
spk_0
and on social media all day long.
spk_0
So I was doing some research on this.
spk_0
The average person in America spends four hours
spk_0
on social media per day, which is good for us,
spk_0
but it's not really good for their...
spk_0
Create it, don't consume it.
spk_0
And they spend at least two and a half hours a day
spk_0
watching TV.
spk_0
So that's six and a half hours you're spending.
spk_0
Now, obviously depending on what you're watching
spk_0
on social media, if you're watching Andy L.A.
spk_0
at a Gross University in social,
spk_0
keep doing that.
spk_0
But most of the stuff we're watching is self sabotaging,
spk_0
is programming you to accept media
spk_0
or to you as a way of life.
spk_0
And that, that programs,
spk_0
you're subconscious mind with programs, your behavior.
spk_0
So just like a cut healing,
spk_0
just like your hair growing, if we had hair.
spk_0
There's a lot of things that happen
spk_0
outside of our conscious awareness,
spk_0
including our behavior.
spk_0
So if you want to change your behavior,
spk_0
you got to be really intentional
spk_0
about what you're allowing yourself to see
spk_0
and experience and listen to all day every day.
spk_0
So the big shift that happened for me
spk_0
is I started listening to content
spk_0
from wildly successful individuals,
spk_0
inspirational, educational,
spk_0
just immersing myself in educational,
spk_0
inspirational life-changing content.
spk_0
And then trying to surround myself with people
spk_0
just like that as well.
spk_0
Obviously being in this room with Andy Elliott,
spk_0
this inspires me,
spk_0
keeps that, igniting that greatness within me
spk_0
to want to keep growing, keep learning.
spk_0
Because I don't believe there's any masters
spk_0
who are only students, right?
spk_0
And schools never out for the closer.
spk_0
So change the content you allow yourself to see.
spk_0
Like turn the screen off for a second
spk_0
and pick up a book, right?
spk_0
Rick Grasso actually used to always joke about this.
spk_0
He said, if you want to hide the secret
spk_0
to the world, just put in a library,
spk_0
no one will ever find it there.
spk_0
Nobody reads, nobody educates.
spk_0
So start right there, start educating yourself.
spk_0
Even not saying you can't have your guilty pleasures,
spk_0
but think of this.
spk_0
Even if you had one less hour of social media day
spk_0
and one less hour of TV,
spk_0
that's two hours I can spend learning something
spk_0
productive to gain a skill in my life.
spk_0
That compounds, right?
spk_0
Because even if you were to spend 15 minutes a day
spk_0
reading a book, you're gonna have
spk_0
a through about 20 books a year.
spk_0
And we know that only takes one great idea
spk_0
or thought to change your life, right?
spk_0
One page, that's it.
spk_0
And one of those books.
spk_0
So the probability is pretty much guaranteed and certain
spk_0
you're gonna change your life
spk_0
if you start changing the repetitive content
spk_0
you like yourself to be exposed to.
spk_0
Yeah, so to finish this out, he said,
spk_0
the news brain washes you to be afraid and scared.
spk_0
Social media is about scrolling and when you're scrolling,
spk_0
you're just gonna take in a bunch of junk.
spk_0
Okay, and so the reason why training systems are so powerful
spk_0
is because you can get your screen time,
spk_0
but you know what you're getting.
spk_0
And so you're not allowing any chance.
spk_0
There's no, and you don't have to guess.
spk_0
You don't have to scroll through 50 things to get it.
spk_0
Now, I wanna tell you this,
spk_0
I don't have social media on my phone.
spk_0
I'm no, no ways am I gonna carry that weapon in my pocket.
spk_0
Because it will own you.
spk_0
I have it on my computer.
spk_0
And if I have a couple people in this world
spk_0
that I look up to at the end of each day,
spk_0
when my kids are going to bed at night,
spk_0
my wife's taking her shower, she's doing her thing.
spk_0
I'll open my laptop, I'll go to social media,
spk_0
I'll see the five or six people that I look up to.
spk_0
I'll see kind of what they did for the day.
spk_0
It's 10 minutes, I close it.
spk_0
That's awesome.
spk_0
All day long, I don't see anything.
spk_0
I don't know what's going on.
spk_0
And I'm building my dream.
spk_0
I'm living my life.
spk_0
I'm not watching other people live theirs.
spk_0
And then those do that I do wanna watch.
spk_0
I'm actually going in there.
spk_0
I'm being intentional about the people that I'm looking at.
spk_0
And I'm putting a timeframe on it, which is discipline.
spk_0
And then the cool thing about it is,
spk_0
is my life keeps growing, it keeps getting better.
spk_0
And I'm creating content instead of consuming it.
spk_0
And so you gotta decide, are you gonna be a contributor?
spk_0
Are you gonna be a consumer?
spk_0
You know what I mean?
spk_0
And we're contributors.
spk_0
And I think this whole conversation today,
spk_0
was to share the story of Dominic here,
spk_0
of how he was programmed one way,
spk_0
and how he altered his identity, broke his blood line,
spk_0
broke generational curses,
spk_0
everything that he wanted he got, because he didn't quit.
spk_0
He knew who he didn't wanna be,
spk_0
but then he decided who he wanted to be.
spk_0
He didn't know for sure in high school who that guy was,
spk_0
but over time, because he kept taking action,
spk_0
you didn't know what the answers were gonna be,
spk_0
but you found him along the way.
spk_0
You never stopped, and then here you are today,
spk_0
you got beautiful kids, you got your beautiful wife,
spk_0
you got tons of people that you're teaching to.
spk_0
And then I wanna finish this out about being a teacher.
spk_0
One of the cool things about being a teacher,
spk_0
is that everything that you learn, selfishly,
spk_0
it's so that you can make your life better.
spk_0
But then also when you teach it,
spk_0
you're actually just re-teaching yourself
spk_0
about the standards you live by.
spk_0
When I teach to a whole room,
spk_0
really I'm just talking to me.
spk_0
And I'm thinking that, like all these people
spk_0
are gonna get their lives changed.
spk_0
But I enjoy sharing this message with myself so much,
spk_0
that it's really for me just reselling me.
spk_0
And I wanna say that, like if you're a sales person,
spk_0
you really wanna learn the game of sales
spk_0
at a subconscious level, start teaching it.
spk_0
Because the more you can coach it and teach it
spk_0
and preach it out loud,
spk_0
that gives you such a vivid recording of it
spk_0
in your subconscious mind,
spk_0
then you're gonna get to a whole different level
spk_0
of understanding of this game of sales
spk_0
that you can't even comprehend.
spk_0
And certainly once I went full blown into coach mode,
spk_0
that's where the big epiphany is like.
spk_0
I thought I knew how to sell and follow the system
spk_0
when I was a sales person,
spk_0
but when I started coaching, it's like, oh my God,
spk_0
it's like relearning it all over again.
spk_0
It's crazy.
spk_0
Yeah, and every time you see somebody else mess up,
spk_0
like, no, you need to do this here.
spk_0
You're like, oh my God, right?
spk_0
I'm aware.
spk_0
Yeah, and I love what you say, too,
spk_0
the little things make all the difference, too.
spk_0
Those little things where you can fine tune
spk_0
someone's communication skills,
spk_0
their closing techniques, all this stuff,
spk_0
their tonality, those little tweaks.
spk_0
A little tax in the castle.
spk_0
Yeah, it's just a whole different level.
spk_0
So this is one of the things I used to teach
spk_0
to my salespeople because they asked me,
spk_0
like, what's your advice to be a number one performer?
spk_0
I say, you should make a your personal goal
spk_0
to be a mentor coach and a leader
spk_0
to everybody else on the team.
spk_0
I want you to be that person that everyone aspires
spk_0
to be and looks up to for advice and guidance,
spk_0
even like a pep talk.
spk_0
Don't be afraid to help somebody when they're down now.
spk_0
When a new guy comes into the room,
spk_0
don't bitch and moan, they're going to take your leads,
spk_0
like take them under your wing, be a mentor and a leader
spk_0
to them.
spk_0
I promise you it's going to change your life.
spk_0
And when you have a whole sales team
spk_0
that has that mindset, it's game over.
spk_0
It's crazy.
spk_0
And so basically what he said is have the abundance mindset,
spk_0
not the scarcity mindset.
spk_0
And I love it, dude.
spk_0
Yeah, incredible guys.
spk_0
All right, man, make sure you guys go hit him up
spk_0
growsouniversity.com.
spk_0
Yes.
spk_0
You're good and you have a social media.
spk_0
Yeah, you can follow me on LinkedIn and Facebook.
spk_0
Those are the two platforms.
spk_0
Obviously, after working with Andy Elliott,
spk_0
I'm doing his built to scale coaching,
spk_0
which thank you for that.
spk_0
We're a builder social media.
spk_0
It's already changing my life.
spk_0
I'm going to get more active on the other channels,
spk_0
especially YouTube, because this has been my biggest fall.
spk_0
We live hundreds and hundreds of hours of content
spk_0
that's collecting dust and not being used.
spk_0
So just you're going to see a lot more of this face.
spk_0
Unfortunately, but fortunately, I'm going to be all over it.
spk_0
Yeah, I love it.
spk_0
I love it.
spk_0
I love it.
spk_0
I love this quote.
spk_0
It's like God gave certain men in this world
spk_0
beautiful shaped heads.
spk_0
And then he put hair on the rest.
spk_0
That's it.
spk_0
We're going to show it.
spk_0
That's right.
spk_0
I love it, man.
spk_0
Great guy, great father, great husband,
spk_0
and he's the leader of leaders.
spk_0
So love you guys.
spk_0
Appreciate it.
spk_0
And we'll see you in the next video.
spk_0
Let's go.
spk_0
And yes, you are a closer.
