Good evening. My name is Maria Naho. It's a beautiful and sunny day here in Tyler, Texas. Today is June 23rd and the topic of the day is fun ways to learn through technology in the classroom. Now I know you're probably wondering how is it that you can have fun and learn while using technology? Well, then you might just want to stick for this podcast because I am about to explain to you the different ways to not just have fun with technology, but also learn with technology in your classroom. First thing, how many of us have some type of device that we use to watch movies, videos or shows? The answer to this is probably we all have some type of device that allows us to get into and seeing all of these things. Well, how about the classroom? Some of the most common technology things we find in the classroom are computers or iPads. This can simply be helpful and can make learning fun. One thing that you can do is to play games. I mean, what kind of kid doesn't love playing games? By being able to use iPads, it can help the students be involved in educational games about certain subjects. In fact, there are some apps that will allow the students to keep track of their progress and even compete with other students. This of course has to be depending on the district that you are in. But hey, if your district running good, that means you'll have good apps. Another fun way to involve technology is to take virtual field trips. A lot of schools unfortunately have a limit of field trips that students are allowed to go. Well then how about a virtual field trip? Now I know you might be thinking that is a complicated and impossible to do. Well, let me tell you, you are wrong on that. You can simply just buy Google Cardboard for less than $15 and that's all. There are apps you can even use to explore famous buildings. Now I know as teachers we think about well, how will this connect with the learning objective? Because after all, we want to be able to let the students have fun, but also learn from what they are having fun. So to answer your question, we can simply study several things from geographic perspectives or even visiting foreign landmarks. By being able to have this, I guarantee you that the students will be more engaged with the lessons. So we talk about virtual field trips. Well, how about you using your virtual manipulatives? This works great, especially when you are trying to reinforce math concepts. As a matter of fact, there's a great app called Co Spaces. It is creative platform for all ages and subjects. This app immerses students into a world where they can create, consume and connect with the curriculum. This will help the students understand the concepts of math on along with having some fun while doing it. Because sometimes having physical objects can be fun for the students. But since our technology is rapidly increasing, having students use virtual shapes or platforms from an app makes their learning more engaging, and what makes it better is that they are able to learn. So we have learned some important technologies that we can be able to use in the classroom for the students to have fun. I hope that you all enjoy it and you got some of it. So this is it for today. I hope that you enjoy listening and you are able to have fun and involve technology in our classrooms. So have fun while teaching and using technology. This is Maria Ranjo and I will see you you next time.
