Oh man, I'm thirsty. I should have gotten something to drink prior to hitting the record button.
spk_0
Hey, it's Kid Friday. We do this show because you are a kid in a digital world. I'm Dave.
spk_0
This is show number 238. And just so you know, so you might guess, I play guitar. I like to play guitar.
spk_0
I don't have them behind me like that to show them off or anything. The humidity in studio 1A here,
spk_0
because remember they change. I give maybe this is studio 1A.
spk_0
Regardless, the humidity is really low and that's not good for wood. Wood needs humidity.
spk_0
Guitar that are made of wood need humidity. And humidity, so I've got a, I mean a humidifier
spk_0
that will help, but I have it turned off right now because it's kind of noisy.
spk_0
And why do we have such low humidity? Now Kid Friday broadcasts
spk_0
from Minneapolis, Minnesota. And I'm just literally just picking up my iPhone to do this right
spk_0
now to see what the time. I have no idea what the temperature is. I know it's cold.
spk_0
So I'm going to throw up the temp and actually wow, it's getting warmer and I'm serious.
spk_0
It's getting warmer. It is the actual temperature here is 16 degrees below zero Fahrenheit.
spk_0
Got that 16 degrees below because before we went to that, it said minus 24.
spk_0
So we are looking, yeah, it's cold. It's cold. So the overnight low is going to be 28 below.
spk_0
Then you got the windshield and I think we discussed a little bit of the weather last time.
spk_0
I don't have an outdoor cam because you're going to not going to see anything because it's 16
spk_0
degrees below zero. No one wants to be outside. It's not fun. I had a go outside just for a little
spk_0
bit. You can get frostbite. It's not good. But it gets me back to the point with the guitar. All right,
spk_0
so here's the deal. This is officially our Consumer Electronics Show ReCalf Special.
spk_0
But there have been a couple other stories that are out that are very interesting. One involving
spk_0
Apple and FaceTime. If you use FaceTime, you definitely want to know about this. And Facebook
spk_0
got a little trouble with Apple. We'll tell you about that.
spk_0
Is there anything special I was going to do at the beginning here? I'm trying to think.
spk_0
I had so Zoey's to, you know, my daughter Zoey, she's turning 18. Yeah, pretty soon. Maybe
spk_0
by the time you're watching this, I don't think she was 18 in that picture.
spk_0
Because I don't remember taking that picture maybe 10 years ago. So,
spk_0
okay, so this is our Consumer Electronics Show deal. Our recap. We're going to show you some
spk_0
of the coolest new stuff that's coming out. I mentioned last time as well. You know, 4K, 4K.
spk_0
I mean, 4K. 8K. 8K is the big thing. And 8K was pretty big at the Consumer Electronics Show.
spk_0
We're going to talk about that. We're going to talk about a couple other things real quick.
spk_0
We're going to do that and just get that out of the way. Do you get robocalls?
spk_0
I just got one. Literally. I got one I can't have however. We're going to talk about a couple
spk_0
things. And then we're going to get into Consumer Electronics Show and we're going to show you
spk_0
some cool stuff. Okay. How about that deal? Okay. So, we do this show because you are a kid in a
spk_0
digital world. It is kid Friday and we're back doing it the way we did. Here's the countdown.
spk_0
Five. I mean, you should get the show going right. Five, four, three, two, one. Hit it. Hit it.
spk_0
Hit it.
spk_0
Let's get this party started.
spk_0
I love this talk.
spk_0
Can you see?
spk_0
I'm a kid Friday.
spk_0
I'm a kid who's in love with technology.
spk_0
Kid Friday.
spk_0
Woohoo.
spk_0
Kid Friday brought to you by StoryCub. Video picture books. It is story time all the time.
spk_0
And if everyone, you know, the big word, it seems like the term right now is storytelling,
spk_0
especially in podcasts. But, you know, people want to hear about storytelling. Tell me a story.
spk_0
I want to know about stories. So tell me one. And that's exactly what StoryCub does.
spk_0
Video versions of awesome kids, children's adults, elderly, and it doesn't matter how old you are.
spk_0
If StoryTime, anytime, for you, on demand, how cool is that before, you know, you had a
spk_0
sit through commercial? No, there's no commercials on the StoryCub. So all you have to do is go to
spk_0
StoryCub.com and just scroll to the bottom of the page. And if you want, you can sign up
spk_0
because we do some special stuff for the people who sign up. They do. It's the StoryCub.
spk_0
And it is still not a fun. Favorite, well, I was going to say, it depends on when you're watching
spk_0
this. But I was going to pull up StoryCub only because I was going to tell you what stories
spk_0
that you can watch right now for free on the StoryCub website. And I remember when
spk_0
that's a cool book at the robot zoo. And a really, really neat book. You should check out
spk_0
the video version at StoryCub.com. It's called Happy Thoughts Are Everywhere. And it's written by
spk_0
Australian author. And it's about a boy who kind of gets a little depressed. And you know, he
spk_0
has to think of his happy thoughts. And I think we all need to think of our happy thoughts. It's
spk_0
important. Don't you want to be happy? We all want to be happy. And I actually have a friend whose
spk_0
name is happy. His real name is Cortland. I guess he didn't like it. I don't know. But it's happy.
spk_0
I don't know. Do you have it legally changed? I don't know. So that's a great story to go check out.
spk_0
Happy Thoughts Are Everywhere. A great video picture book. So there it is. And you can also find it
spk_0
on iTunes. You can subscribe and podcast and iTunes to StoryCub. Tell your friends, tell your
spk_0
neighbors. And if you like StoryCub, you know, will you give it a review? And you know what? They're
spk_0
just StoryCub on YouTube. If you just write, you know, type in StoryCub on one word, just like you
spk_0
see it on the screen. You subscribe. Will you do that? And tell your friends. And that would help
spk_0
all of us a kid Friday. And if you're watching Kid Friday, if you're using iTunes and podcasts,
spk_0
you could you write a review? We'd appreciate it. A lot. You don't understand how one review
spk_0
can help. Now, if you just did this one time, if everyone watching right now, because
spk_0
Kid Friday is using the top 10 and kids and family video podcasts in iTunes. So I know you're watching.
spk_0
Wow, I sound like a plea. I'm not asking for your money. I don't know any money.
spk_0
I just want your time. Two minutes of your time to write a review on YouTube, subscribe there,
spk_0
write a review on iTunes, whatever you can. But that takes the whole thing away from StoryCub.
spk_0
Sorry, StoryCub. StoryCub, go to StoryCub.com or find it in iTunes.com. And just tell
spk_0
tell all your friends. Tell your neighbors. Right now, tell your neighbor after watching this.
spk_0
It's depending on what time it is. It's like it's listening to this at night.
spk_0
But if it is tomorrow, can you just go over to your neighbor's house and knock on the door and say,
spk_0
hey, I want to tell you about Kid Friday and StoryCub. And they'll go, huh? Okay.
spk_0
Thanks for being a sponsor of Kid Friday. We want to thank StoryCub. Thank you so much.
spk_0
Okay. So if you are a FaceTime user, you have to be careful. It reminds me of a story that I'll share
spk_0
with you in just a second. If you're making a FaceTime call, people can hear what you're saying
spk_0
before it looks like you're actually connected. And that ain't cool. You know what I'm saying?
spk_0
That is, that's not cool at all. I don't think. Do you? No? Apple's got quite a, quite a, so I mean,
spk_0
it's been kind of rough. They've had bug security issues, software issues. And the most recent
spk_0
Facebook or FaceTime bug is particularly alarming to a lot of people. It's made the, it's made
spk_0
news everywhere. You maybe have already heard it. I don't know. But it's not a good one. If you,
spk_0
I'll tell you my whole story. And that kind of resonates that.
spk_0
Amel is scrambling to fix an issue and end the pain of embarrassment. So blockchain,
spk_0
it's had a rough time. All these, all these, these, these things that they're doing.
spk_0
It's not, it's not a good thing. So the bottom line is there's an Apple bug that someone,
spk_0
actually a teenager discovered this while he was setting up a FaceTime group chat.
spk_0
And that's kind of, you know, it's like, wow, that's interesting that he found it. Because Apple
spk_0
is a pretty good company. They usually find stuff out, but things slip by. And this one really
spk_0
slipped by. It actually was in the Wall Street Journal. But I'm just going to give you the short
spk_0
version. So we can get to talk about the consumer electronics show. The thing is this is that
spk_0
if you're talking to someone, like sometimes if you're talking to someone and if you're talking
spk_0
to someone, then you stop talking and then you don't hear anything. Now either that person,
spk_0
like my friend Jean, is just distracted. He's not even listening. He's tuned out. All right,
spk_0
he's playing a video game. He's doing something. I'm like, do you hear what I said?
spk_0
Okay. Or sometimes you lose a connection, right? Okay. So if you use FaceTime watch, what you say,
spk_0
you know, after you're trying to make, if you're trying to make a connection, because it could
spk_0
be ringing on, you know, on your end, the other person may already be listening to you. And
spk_0
that's really kind of the big deal about it. So watch what you say. If you, you know, like,
spk_0
I can't, I'm trying to think, I'll give you my real life example, but I'm thinking of example,
spk_0
like if you're calling your mom and their FaceTime and your mom and just before you know, you go,
spk_0
mom stinks, you know, and then she hears that, you know, you think she's going to give you a
spk_0
20 spot, huh? You know, after hearing that? No. So as soon as you hit FaceTime, be quiet. That's
spk_0
what I like to say. Because, because, okay. So this is nothing to do with FaceTime because it was
spk_0
a long time ago. I was talking to someone on the phone and you would, I guess you'd call it,
spk_0
you know what this means. It was a long distance. I was talking to someone and it was a business call
spk_0
and I was, we were talking about different things and I brought something up that I thought was
spk_0
pretty interesting. And I, you know, I'm like, what do you think? And I didn't hear anything. I heard
spk_0
nothing. I go, that guy hung up. I can't believe that that guy hung up. I'm trying to help him.
spk_0
And you know, because, because there were issues in the past, this guy was a little wacky.
spk_0
So I called him back up and he said, just so you know, we did lose our connection, but for quite
spk_0
a while, I could hear you, you just couldn't hear me. I'm like, I'm thinking, wow, what did I say?
spk_0
What did I say? It all worked out fine. I'm trying to help. I'm trying to be helpful. You know,
spk_0
and what do you do? And then I thought I thought I, because of past experiences, I thought someone hung up on me.
spk_0
Okay. And he didn't. So keep that in mind when you're on the phone because lately I've been
spk_0
but dialing people like crazy. I don't know why, but I have. All right. Now Facebook has been paying people.
spk_0
So Apple has a program. And I have an Apple developer account. I would be considered an Apple
spk_0
developer. And what you do is when your app is kind of getting close and ready, you're allowed a
spk_0
certain amount of what's called certificates. And you can give certificates to certain people
spk_0
that you would like to test the app. So that way, if there are any flaws, they can get back to you.
spk_0
And they'll say, you don't want to actually, and then, oh, you, and then you go, thank you so much.
spk_0
That's awesome. I didn't, I didn't notice that or I didn't see that or what it's not doing what
spk_0
it's supposed to do. So, and so they give you a certain number of certificates and you're able to,
spk_0
you know, I give them to people, you know, and people that I think, you know, kind of end
spk_0
attack. And so they're able to side load the app for free. And even if you are going to charge
spk_0
for an app or not charge for an app, it doesn't matter. So the Facebook though, Apple blocked Facebook's
spk_0
research VPN app, which is a virtual private network. And I can't, they did it before. They could
spk_0
voluntarily shut it down. The research app asked users for root network access to all data
spk_0
passing through their phone, all data for $20 a month. Apple told TechCrunch that it revoked,
spk_0
Apple revoked the enterprise certificate that allowed Facebook to distribute this research app
spk_0
without going through the app store. And that's, that is side loading. And I'm sure it is against
spk_0
Apple's rules somewhere in the, you know, in the book of what's allowed and what's not.
spk_0
There's something in there like that. I can see people going for it $20 a month. But I get to see
spk_0
everything in your phone. Now, if you're, you know, I mean, there's some people who just,
spk_0
you know, use it as a phone, whatever. But they could listen on calls, but they can check your email,
spk_0
they could see everything that you're doing. If you're putting in important information, passwords,
spk_0
things like that. And, but of course, it's secure, you know, it's secure. That's what you always
spk_0
hear, it's secure. So there's this Facebook app through Apple that they were testing. These people
spk_0
were supposed to get the $20 a month. I don't know what they're going to get, but that's that. Okay.
spk_0
I just want to mention that. All right. And what's the deal with, I have been getting more,
spk_0
and I've talked to some friends about, I've been getting more robo calls lately. Nobody says
spk_0
anything, or for some reason, and I have no idea. I get a lot of robo calls
spk_0
because I could have a sore back. I don't know what it's because they, they try and qualify you
spk_0
to get something that's covered by the government. And it's a big scam. But just hang up.
spk_0
Best thing to do, hang up. Doesn't matter if it's a real person.
spk_0
I have not a robo call, even. I get a lot of calls. Say, who buys the ink at your office? I'm like,
spk_0
you know, we don't use ink. We don't, I, we don't, sorry, we don't use ink. But these robo calls,
spk_0
as soon as I hear it, just hang it up. And you do know, maybe you don't know, you can block that
spk_0
number on your iOS or Android device. So if you are, I'm sorry, I'm not up on the Android,
spk_0
as much as I am on the Apple did again. I don't know, on my phone is, I had a phone.
spk_0
Didn't I show you the temperature earlier? I seriously, I think I did.
spk_0
Wow. All right. Well, anyway, if you just click the I button next to the phone,
spk_0
the phone number I as as as in for information. And then you scroll all the way down, you can
spk_0
block the the caller. Now you can always unblock them, you know, as well. So you can block me in
spk_0
friends, but that that wouldn't be nice. So that's that. All right. Now, but the the robo calls
spk_0
are driving me nuts. Um, driving me nuts because I get called, it's got to be at least three times
spk_0
a day, you know, and there's a new report out that says Americans got 26.3 billion robo calls last
spk_0
year. Up 46%. Wow. Americans not getting, I are getting so many robo calls on regular basis that
spk_0
many simply choose not to answer the phone all together, including me. I've done that.
spk_0
That's one big takeaway from a report that was just released by Seattle based spam monitoring
spk_0
service that analyzed activity from 450,000 users of its app to determine the scope of unwanted
spk_0
robo calling and how phone users react when they receive an automated call. So and that's
spk_0
consistent with some other analysis from some other people, but it's like, wow. And the you know,
spk_0
the federal trade commission has a has a do not call list. And earlier today, I went, I went
spk_0
on it because what you do is you, you can, you can put your phone number in. And then, uh, I think
spk_0
these people have like, up to 90 days to take you off their list, something like that. However,
spk_0
if you've done business with a company in the past, they can still call you. Okay. All right. Uh,
spk_0
but it's a it's a dark of thing. If you just go to, um, the phone blocking them with the,
spk_0
whatever I said, what did I say? Um, the case robo calls and go down, you know, I have a tree
spk_0
right down here. It's a, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh,
spk_0
federal communications commission, trade commission, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh,
spk_0
down. It doesn't seem like they crack down on, on a lot of, and spam communication. That's, uh,
spk_0
that's pretty crazy. But if you, if you just go, uh, uh, uh, tying your Google do not call list,
spk_0
and then the, uh, the government side comes up, you can put in a bunch of phone numbers. Like,
spk_0
I put in my cell number, I put in my office number. I have two different office numbers.
spk_0
I put in a couple things and it checked and it's interesting because I used to have to renew
spk_0
it every year. And a couple of them in there, one of them, I registered a phone number in, I think
spk_0
my cell phone in 2008. And the office ones, I think I, um, put them in in 2011. And I didn't find
spk_0
any place where you needed to update it or whatever, but you put your phone numbers in and then, uh,
spk_0
no dashes, by the way, you put your phone number in and then you, um, it, it, it tells you
spk_0
whether you're already registered or not. So, but I, you know, I mean, 2008, like, you think maybe
spk_0
the list has changed a little bit. I wonder if I missed something. I don't think I did.
spk_0
So let's go on and talk about the consumer electronic show.
spk_0
So, it happens in Las Vegas every year. And it is the biggest, the largest trade show in Las Vegas.
spk_0
And as I mentioned on the last show, it is, it's nuts. It is absolutely nuts. Um,
spk_0
and people are there for different reasons. Obviously, people are there to sell stuff,
spk_0
people are to buy stuff, people are there to check out, get some ideas, uh, all, you know, all
spk_0
sorts of electronics, uh, and, um, new ways of doing things and groundbreaking things. And, uh,
spk_0
you know, I noticed that, uh, seeing that have their top 10, uh, kind of takeaways from the
spk_0
consumer electronic show. And I thought, you know, I was looking at a boy, I kind of agree with that
spk_0
because all the stuff that I've seen is pretty close to what I was thinking, right? So, um,
spk_0
by the way, Apple Pay is being taken at more and more retailers, uh, that's coming up here. So,
spk_0
I wonder, I mentioned that only because, uh, a lot of fast food restaurants, I don't want to be
spk_0
good for you. Uh, and, um, a bunch of swapple pay, the app is really making a push for, for Apple Pay.
spk_0
All right. So let's get in to, uh, one of the things that we did, I said, you know, AKTV, wow,
spk_0
AKTV's everywhere, isn't it? Uh, uh, it, it is everywhere. And by the way, speaking of AKTV, NBC is
spk_0
launching a streaming service to house its television shows and universal movies, the, uh,
spk_0
or giant will provide a streaming service free for pay TV subscribers. How is it free for pay TV
spk_0
subscribers? How can you do it for free if someone is a paid subscriber? That doesn't sound free.
spk_0
Just saying. Okay. So, um, uh, it's $12 a month. That's not free. All right. Um,
spk_0
and a lot of people say that, that this deal stinks. Uh, and there are better choices out there.
spk_0
Um, I think it's probably just best to, uh, so leave it at, leave, leave it at that. I, I guess.
spk_0
Oh, all right. Let's get into the consumer electronics show, um, if we can, because that is,
spk_0
I said we're going to cover that. Did I not? And so AKTV's, all right. So first of all,
spk_0
if the swatzes power cast Nintendo, I, uh, let me pull up. I had my notes here in front of me and,
spk_0
uh, now they seem to have, um, disappeared, gone somewhere. I don't know. Um, I accidentally erased
spk_0
and then I, um, what did I do? I hang on. Hang on with me here on the old kid Friday in the meantime.
spk_0
And so see, this is, this is perfect. This is perfect because this is the time we're acting
spk_0
that banner that I made. Now, if I only had some snazzy music behind it.
spk_0
How was that? I don't know, nothing. I'm not too good of all.
spk_0
Whatever. Uh, and then of course, if you are a regular viewer, you can always look at the ice
spk_0
screen and say on which phone case that I'm in love with. Oh my gosh. Oh, man. Oh, man. Oh, man. Oh,
spk_0
man. Oh, man. Oh, man. Oh, man. Let's see. What did I do with that? Oh, my gosh. Um, wow.
spk_0
I don't know what I, you know, I guess we can't talk about it. I guess it's all over.
spk_0
No, it's not. It's not all over. Hey, that was Steve Jobs announcing the iPhone in 2007.
spk_0
I believe. So, um, look at this thing. This one, this, this is kind of a cool, cool deal here. And, um,
spk_0
it's the world's first 65 inch rollable TV. How up and that the end of your bed, right? And then
spk_0
you want to watch TV and a 65 inch TV just rolls up.
spk_0
How cool? How cool is that?
spk_0
Then again, what are you going to do? Put stuff on there. And then when you're watching watch TV,
spk_0
you got to move it all. What's the perfect? Okay. Yeah. It's one of those. If you have, you know,
spk_0
if you want, if you want to be in, I know it's going down. That's the one for you. All right. Let's see
spk_0
what else we got here. Cars and it does so many things with cars going on these days.
spk_0
That it is, um, the technology is mind blowing. And it is, um, there's so much being put in
spk_0
cars, which means that there's going to be so much stuff that's going to break on your car.
spk_0
And so, um, I don't know. I, you know what? I, I apologize. I need, I apologize. I, I can't find my,
spk_0
I can't find that, but I'm going to find it now. My friend, you know, is, uh, just texted me.
spk_0
I'm not going to, I'm not going to be rude and open it. Uh, so you just stand by for one, one second. Okay.
spk_0
If you could.
spk_0
Oops, hand hold on. Hold on. Hey, Siri, what is the temperature?
spk_0
I thought I could find my phone that way. Didn't answer to someone steal my phone.
spk_0
And now I'm, and now this text is coming in here. Okay. So, um, here we go. All right. We're back.
spk_0
Thanks for hanging in with me. By the way, the, uh, I actually, I want to know what I can pull out of my computer,
spk_0
but I want to find my phone too. Hey, one other thing. If you are a viewer, that's why the show jumps
spk_0
all over the place. That's why we always end up somewhere else. So I mentioned that there's this,
spk_0
this store, monards, right? And I'm really good. They have 11% rebate, 11% rebate. And, um,
spk_0
oh, it's right here. My phone's, my phone's right here. All right. So anyway, uh, current temperature here.
spk_0
Let's just do that real quick. Current temperature, uh, still 16 below. All right. Literally 16
spk_0
below zero. Fair and height. And if you think I'm making that up, I'm not making that up. Uh, that's
spk_0
called. Uh, so I imagine that I go to this place when ours, they have this 11% rebate. You take
spk_0
your receipt to have a form. You fill it out. You send it in and then they send you, uh, um,
spk_0
uh, merchandise check that you can use in the store. I'm really good at sending them out. I've got it
spk_0
down because I put it in my certain pocket this day and I do it right away. And then I get these
spk_0
rebate checks and I lose them all. So, um, I had my car work done and just before I brought the,
spk_0
my car in, I thought, you know what? What a great time to kind of just, you know, if there's a few
spk_0
things laying around in the car, just to move them, put them in glove box, do something, whatever.
spk_0
And I found one of these. I found, I found a, I found a rebate check because I, I'd lose them.
spk_0
And who knows? So when this was this, this could be two years old for all I know. And, uh, I wanted
spk_0
or maybe I opened it, but I didn't open it yet, uh, recently. So I have no idea how much it is.
spk_0
So how much is this rebate check? I can go spend how much, how much is this rebate check for?
spk_0
I can't believe I found, I do. I, everyone's why I find them. I lose them. Very good. I'm, but I'm
spk_0
great on getting them. So I was just gonna open this really quick and then we'll get into the,
spk_0
is it open already? No, here we go. It is $6.17. All right, forget it. Let's move on.
spk_0
All right, we're talking, we're talking CES here. Okay. So here we go. Consumer electronics show.
spk_0
And there you go. It's, that's made by LG. It's, it's a OLED, which is the organic light of
spk_0
meaning diode. It's called the, uh, LG OLED R. And it's not the first time at the Consumer
spk_0
electronics show where they've had a rule out TV. But it's the first time that they've shown a
spk_0
final product, um, LG has, because they should kind of show the prototypes before. Now they have one
spk_0
that you can actually buy. And because of that, that is, makes it special, you know what I'm saying?
spk_0
So there you go with the TV. All right. Now we're moving along. Oh, we're back in action.
spk_0
And it only took a half hour to get you to actually start focusing. All right.
spk_0
Best car technology. The Audi Disney, uh, holo ride. Now self-driving cars of the future could
spk_0
free up a lot of time for commuters. And while a lot of us probably just wound up working more
spk_0
or watching movies, um, Audi and Disney teamed up. And they've created a, a concept for a new level
spk_0
of incoherent entertainment that might actually make us look forward to getting stuck in traffic.
spk_0
I could tell you more about it, but I wasted a half hour. That rebate checks for $6.17.
spk_0
I was like, where's the $30 ones I used to get? I guess I don't know. All right. You like watches?
spk_0
I love watches. I love, I do. I'm wearing a watch right now. Look at this. It's not, it's not,
spk_0
you know what it tells me, it tells me the time and the date. It's got to stop watch if I'm
spk_0
sure on it. And it's, uh, it's a nice watch made by the International Watch Company, I WC. Okay.
spk_0
Check out this watch though. This is cool. And I, and I like the, I like the orange. I like the orange.
spk_0
The best emerging tech. The Matrix Power Watch 2. So there's a, you know, there's a world smart,
spk_0
a world of smart connected things that's growing fast, which is so true. But charging,
spk_0
or charging, charging tech hasn't, charging tech hasn't improved much. So this is a self-charging watch.
spk_0
Okay. It, it harnesses energy from the thermal electrics and solar power.
spk_0
And it keeps your watch going instead of a battery that you have to change every three years.
spk_0
It's got some sensors in it and more. The solar and heat powered matrix power watch 2.
spk_0
Promises fit bit level tracking. And it's in demo right now. So it hasn't come out yet. But it's, um,
spk_0
how often, or you get an automatic watch. Uh, anyway, but you know what? It's all about being green.
spk_0
That's what it is. Tessles in trouble, by the way. Uh, that's a, that's another show. Not in like trouble
spk_0
trouble, but they're for care. I don't know. All right. So, uh, you do anything in the kitchen.
spk_0
I didn't, I'm, you know, I, I've turned into kind of a, uh, I like to put stuff in a walk.
spk_0
And I could go on and tell you about what I put in it. But again, you know, let's move on.
spk_0
But kitchen technology and gadgets and things in the kitchen are pretty exciting, actually. Uh,
spk_0
you know, so this, uh, this, this particular one is kind of interesting. Uh, I remember the Samsung came
spk_0
out like a screen. Um, um, the actual refrigerator figures back. But the evolution of smart kitchen tech
spk_0
has been kind of slow and awkward. Uh, kitchen aid smart display looks like the exception.
spk_0
Google Assistant gives it an excellent guided recipe experience and integration with, uh,
spk_0
some apps for a deeper connection with world pool and kitchen aid appliances for anyone who wants
spk_0
to kind of step it up. World pool says, uh, it'll cost between two and three hundred dollars
spk_0
when it launches. And, uh, there's a low end range, uh, as well, a little less expensive. Uh,
spk_0
I still don't know what it does. It's a smart kid. Hey, it gives you a recipe.
spk_0
Um, I, I, I've gotten some great recipes, not recipes, uh, how to make things off of YouTube.
spk_0
Guys show you here's what you do. Uh, oh, all right. So that's how you do it. Wow. All right.
spk_0
And again, I kind of agreed with these from Cena for that one. I don't know. I need
spk_0
when I'm in the kitchen bottom line is my most important tool is my iPhone because it has a
spk_0
timer on it. And I use the timer. All right. You want to make a medium rare steak. You want a
spk_0
broil of medium rare steak four minutes a side. And I mean four minutes, boom, boom, after that
spk_0
for you got to take it out, put it on plate, let it rest for five minutes. And you are in heaven.
spk_0
Of course, kids all like steaks. Well done. Okay. Now, uh, there's a computer coming. It's been around
spk_0
for quite a while called acer. And I, I don't know if you're familiar with acer or not, but they
spk_0
actually make some really nice computers. And they won the best laptop, the acer Swift 7. The
spk_0
competition for the slimmest of everything is still going on. This year, acer reduced the
spk_0
screen bezels to less than three millimeters, making the laptop smaller and allowing for a screen
spk_0
to body ratio of 92%. The 1.9 pound or four are because we are in 200 countries for the 0.9
spk_0
kilogram laptop gained a little bit of thickness and exchange for going to a larger screen. It's
spk_0
got a process of really good one upgrades well. And they're on their seventh generation CPU.
spk_0
And onto the eighth, actually, to the Icore i7, uh, 8500 Y, similar to what you'd find in a MacBook
spk_0
Air. It is not out yet. It's coming out in May. Uh, and you start doing things thin or special or
spk_0
doing them. You pay a premium. So $1,700 for the acer computer. That is a very thin, but gives you
spk_0
a good size screen. And, uh, just I'm afraid of these thin ones because that's how I broke my 55-inch
spk_0
TV with the screen. And it was so thin and I accidentally just twisted it and cracked the whole
spk_0
screen. So I'm going to do that. Be careful. Now, are you, hey, are you like me? A skin care buff?
spk_0
Uh, technology is getting an a everything, everything we it's, uh, it's all it's, it's, it's
spk_0
ever, uh, you could go on and on and on and on and on and on and on. And I know some, I know
spk_0
some why it doesn't have boys. I know some girls that go spend a lot of money on stuff for their skin.
spk_0
Uh, and then, uh, I don't know if it helps. Uh, okay. So best beauty tech. P and G,
spk_0
precision skin care system. It scans your face with a tiny camera at 200 frames per second.
spk_0
Detects darkness like sunspots, freckles or moles. It then applies a precise amount of makeup
spk_0
through a 120 thermal ink gent nozzle inside the wand that deposits 1000 droplets to
spk_0
precisely cover each spot or blemish. The result is a brushless makeup application that appears
spk_0
to be magically erasing your skin blemishes in real time. Now, I like to be a part of that. I,
spk_0
you know, I do they have stock in that company because if it does what it says and it says what it does,
spk_0
um, there's some, there's, there's millions of millions of people who don't pay a thousand
spk_0
dollars for this. If it works the way I just said, they'll pay ten thousand dollars for it. There's
spk_0
just whack because there's wackiness in that skin care. Why is it when you're up in the middle of
spk_0
uh, the night and you're changing channels and there's Victoria Principal or, uh, who's that
spk_0
cine Crawford? All these, uh, I was about to say something not too nice. I don't like to do that.
spk_0
But all these, uh, these people hockin' all this skin care stuff. Why? Because it sells. That's why.
spk_0
And that's my indicator because if you keep seeing these infomercials and all this stuff,
spk_0
that means they're selling it because if they're not selling it, they're not going to keep showing it
spk_0
over and over and over and over again. And so if this is true, I'm lying in on this company.
spk_0
So, uh, contact me directly if you're the company and, uh, you know, maybe get us a sample. By the way,
spk_0
we are, you know, hey, we do, we, we love to review stuff and after we review it, we love to give
spk_0
it away on Kid Friday. So go to KidFriedIt.com and just look for a link. Uh, you're there if you, uh,
spk_0
if you can have a product. All right. So, uh, that skin care. Wow. That's, uh, that's, um,
spk_0
but then you have A-Lon. It's great because, because of this. It's not just a machine. That's one thing.
spk_0
After you run out of this ink covering makeup, whatever proprietary stuff,
spk_0
you have to buy more from that company and that company's going to keep selling you more and more,
spk_0
and more. And then they're going to get you on the monthly plan because it's $2 cheaper.
spk_0
And, uh, you're going to end up with a, like a giant closet full of this stuff because you're like,
spk_0
I don't do this every day or whatever. I don't know. Okay. Let's move on.
spk_0
Should we move on? Let's move on. All right. Uh,
spk_0
one of the best things that the consumer like trying to show is called, they call it a tablet.
spk_0
I'm kidding. Uh, it's called a tablet. No, it is a tablet, but it's, uh, uh, the Google Assistant
spk_0
for 2019, they, they, uh, have some upgrades in turbo-der mode, which is how cool is that?
spk_0
Interpreter mode, uh, and connect. And they, they want for, for best, uh, AI. So, uh, that's, uh,
spk_0
you know, that's, that's pretty amazing stuff. Uh, so, uh, they used to unleash a lot of
spk_0
stuff as a Google Assistant. Now, seems to be built into many products alongside, uh,
spk_0
their arch rival or Amazon, the Alexa, uh, but the, uh, the two new features that all people
spk_0
are excited about, the interpreter mode, which, uh, let's people have back and forth conversations
spk_0
among 27 languages using a Google Smart display as the go between and the Google Assistant
spk_0
Connect program. Uh, that will unleash a lot of gadgets that act just as smart as the assistant,
spk_0
but only because the offload, all the heavy lifting to, um, to stuff. So, uh, like, like,
spk_0
it, it, it, it'll work together. They'll, they'll work together, you know, um, but the, uh, the,
spk_0
the, there's just stuff like that is, and it makes me think, go, think of that first generation,
spk_0
I, I, I pad because, you know, look at it, and that wasn't that long ago.
spk_0
Uh, come on. Maybe he's, hey Siri, when did the iPad come out?
spk_0
Hey Siri, could you just tell me?
spk_0
I'm not sure I understand. Hey Siri, what is the current temperature?
spk_0
It's minus 16 degrees outside.
spk_0
Still 16 below, all right.
spk_0
All right, we're moving along here. And what is that? I know what you're thinking. I know what you're
spk_0
thinking. You're thinking, I think it's a computer. And you know what? You're right. Now, if you're a
spk_0
gamer, no, there are, so I love, I mean, Jesse, uh, if you're a gamer, I know, uh, there's a place,
spk_0
not too far from here. And they're, they're not in every city. They're, um, maybe 20 cities,
spk_0
something that it's called micro center. They're based out of Dallas, Texas. If I'm not mistaken,
spk_0
and you can go there and a, like heavy duty gamers, they build their own computers,
spk_0
right? And they have everything there from the enclosure, right? And you know, I have certain
spk_0
slots and then you have to have room for it to, you know, so it doesn't overheat and all, you know,
spk_0
they, uh, faint, so you put a fan and all sorts of stuff. Um, and because, because just a little,
spk_0
you know, and you can win or lose, just like that. So I know there's a lot of people that, that
spk_0
build, that are into it, that build their own gaming computer. But now, especially,
spk_0
and those gaming computers are usually, you know, in, in, in, in big, you know, enclosures that you
spk_0
have to, you know, put on the floor or your desk or something. So, uh, but so that's why this,
spk_0
this kind of interests me, uh, because it's a laptop. And it's already built because I don't want
spk_0
to build another computer, but best gaming product, uh, Alienware Area 51M. So it's as close as a laptop
spk_0
version of Alienware's desktop area 51. So if you are familiar with the area 51, wow, you can take
spk_0
it on the, you can take it on a road with you, you know, you can upgrade both the CPU and the GPU.
spk_0
So, uh, it makes it run fast in the graphics, the whole thing. Uh, and it's packed with all the
spk_0
top-end mobile components available right now. Of course, technology is moving so fast. That's
spk_0
the one thing. So you want to, it's nice to see if you can, if you find something that is
spk_0
upgradable. Uh, so it's got a core i9, uh, geophores, it, I'm looking at it and I'm laughing not because
spk_0
I don't know what it is because like this is insane, uh, insane, uh, uh, to, to have any,
spk_0
in a laptop computer, uh, pricing starts, starts against starts, uh, around $2,000. It's
spk_0
gonna ship, well, it's saying it's shipping right now. Actually, they just started shipping.
spk_0
But uh, that's amazing to be able to, uh, when you look at these specs, it's like, wow,
spk_0
I can't even explain myself. I'm for climped, if you know what that means. If not, it doesn't matter,
spk_0
don't get up. So, uh, all right, so let's get down to two more things at the Consumer Electronics
spk_0
show. Uh, and see what's going on there. Uh, and so there's, like I mentioned, there's just
spk_0
thousands and thousands and thousands of stuff, and you know, watches again, right? You know,
spk_0
you know, the, the Apple iWatch, the new one that can do an EKG on you and send it as a PDF to your
spk_0
doctor. It's pretty, it's pretty amazing. Um, and so, uh, technology is moving so fast, so,
spk_0
so fast. So keep that in mind before you buy your next phone, because you may not want the
spk_0
latest and greatest because it's, you know, $1,000, whatever. Only, I say that, and if you do, great,
spk_0
don't give me wrong. Enjoy. But I only say that because six months from now, you know, what,
spk_0
like last year, you know, an iPhone, you know, the Apple came out with the iPhone 10, and I mean,
spk_0
that's, and that's our year old because now they have the 10 Max R, the 10 S, whatever. Okay, so
spk_0
check out this watch. Good looking watch. Um, and it is a health watch. Uh, there's a company called
spk_0
Omron and the, uh, you feel, look in your medicine cabinet. You take a look at your, uh, if you have a
spk_0
thermometer, you know, when mom or dad takes your temperature, you might see one made by this company
spk_0
called Omron. Uh, they're pretty big, uh, blood pressure. Okay. You know, uh, this is the very first
spk_0
watch. No, no, the Apple eye watch was the first watch that the FDA, the federal, uh, drug
spk_0
administration approved for doing an EKG. Well, uh, this watch is the first watch that the FDA
spk_0
cleared for blood pressure tracking. They, uh, uh, promised the health, it's going, I'm sorry, the
spk_0
heart guide, uh, last year, which, uh, uses a wrist cuff and now is ready to go. Uh, so, uh, you can,
spk_0
uh, you can have a doctor on your watch. I don't see why you can't FaceTime your doctor. Only because,
spk_0
he's out golfing. Maybe dentists golf. Why do it seems like a lot of dentists golf? Do you know
spk_0
the theory behind that? I don't know. All right. Let's get to one more here. One more, one more.
spk_0
Ferture, reality, augmented reality. This is really the future of where we're headed to. I believe
spk_0
you don't have to believe me. With that said, I'm not making that up.
spk_0
Now, you think this person got into an accident and, uh, have to, has to wear that for the next six
spk_0
weeks because, uh, otherwise, so, you know, you have to keep the head pretty, pretty steady there.
spk_0
Because that's what it looks like to me. Uh, saying, you know, that's, uh, it looks like the,
spk_0
looks like the person's in traction pain, whatever. Uh, it's evolving. So eye tracking is a key
spk_0
component, uh, with the HTC, Viv Pro Eye. It can help measure analytics like eye gaze,
spk_0
improve hands-free controls, improve graphics and games. Uh, it, uh, it, it, it, it tracks your eye.
spk_0
And, uh, it's in this headset. It arrives this year. It's coming out this year. It's now yet,
spk_0
soon though. Uh, and it's the first of many to come. Because I know there's a lot of companies
spk_0
getting in virtual reality, augmented reality, also, just stuff. Uh, so, um, there's, uh, some other
spk_0
ones that are supposed to be coming out as well. But eye tracking might be the biggest important wave
spk_0
in the next, uh, version of, uh, of that. So there you go. Isn't that, that's amazing to me
spk_0
that although she looked, you know what? That guy that looks like it hurts.
spk_0
He does. Uh, make me a little more attractive, perhaps. I'm just saying, all right. So, uh,
spk_0
knew this year, knew this year, this year, forget 4G. You gotta see, you bought a phone.
spk_0
Ha ha, it's only 4G. We're going 5G. We're going, and you know what? Forget about the,
spk_0
all right, working on 6G. So, uh, you, you can, Qualcomm, go 5G, uh, now of course you need
spk_0
towers and you need, just because you have a phone, it doesn't mean that it's going to work.
spk_0
It has to work based on what it's connected to. So, if there are towers out there that don't
spk_0
support the technology that you have, it doesn't matter that it means you're just using it
spk_0
whatever. But, uh, look at that. It says, in the age of 5G, we transform industries across the
spk_0
globe, the real 5G. So, we can get 5G stuff now. 5G. Wow. Isn't that, and to think we,
spk_0
we started with 1G, I'm guessing, uh, do we not? And then I found this game, this Japanese,
spk_0
racing game that I just thought was cool. I, I just thought it was, it was cool. Um, and I
spk_0
forgot what I do with my notes. Uh, but, uh, I could just tell you that, uh, it's cool. It looks cool.
spk_0
And it put your right behind the driver's seat, which I really like. And, uh, this, the,
spk_0
think of wearing those, um, virtual reality, and then looking at that through, through, through that,
spk_0
that's pretty amazing. You know, um, I think that it's, uh, it's, it's something that,
spk_0
you know, we're all going to be able to, yeah, it's like, you know, you don't, you don't,
spk_0
you don't, you don't, you don't, you don't, you don't, you don't need to know how to drive a car.
spk_0
You know, you don't need to know how to, uh, and as far as I'm concerned on an educational
spk_0
basis, you know, at school, they're no longer, I'm not saying all schools. So don't write in and say,
spk_0
cursive handwriting. What's up with that? You know, not teaching that anymore. By the way,
spk_0
Laurie, I heard, I heard you can be a principal. Congratulations. I heard that. I heard that on the
spk_0
street. When it was 16 below walking pass someone, they mentioned that, hey, look, see me, principal.
spk_0
Wow. How do you know? How do you know? Okay. Uh, and so that's just some of the stuff at the
spk_0
Consumer Alert Triner Show. We, we could go, I mean, I've got tons of video. Maybe we'll show some on,
spk_0
a future show, uh, or, uh, maybe I'll throw some up on kidfraudy.com, whatever. But, uh, there's just,
spk_0
the, the whole, we live in a, well, like our, like our trademark, little young, you're a
spk_0
kid in a digital world. And this digital world is moving so fast that is a little bit of a problem
spk_0
for me. However, like I like audio stuff. And this is a lot of the new audio stuff. They have all
spk_0
their features built into the unit in certain sizes that slide in and out. So when the next
spk_0
technology comes in, when they upgrade it, you can take this slide, this thing out and then
spk_0
slide this other thing right back in and it will upgrade your, your stereo. So I think that's
spk_0
for really good, you know, interaction back and forth. And one other thing I just want to mention,
spk_0
because we mentioned Apple a lot, uh, the rumor is going on about the next iPhone. And I can't
spk_0
believe this because I saw that I, I saw on a computer over there at the Apple store and,
spk_0
you know, a lot of people know about it. But so there's, there's, um,
spk_0
there's, there's, uh, I've got an Apple cable here. So, so this is, uh, just a matter of
spk_0
it's an Apple or not because I'm joining the USB. So this is a USB, this is a USB cord, okay?
spk_0
And you've seen these because you plug them into your computer or into your car charger or in,
spk_0
you know, anything, you know, so much stuff that's USB. Uh, so there is a format called USB-C.
spk_0
And it's a little bit smaller than this. Maybe a little bit fatter. So I mean, kind of a little
spk_0
that I think by 2020, it's weird because I just said that I was thinking, well, it's a long time
spk_0
away, but we're in 2019. Uh, they are going to have phones with USB-C, um, even more so. And, uh,
spk_0
and the evolution of going to be able to use one cord for all your devices, no matter who makes it.
spk_0
If Google makes it, if Samsung makes it, if Kentucky Fried Chicken, you know, whatever,
spk_0
if we could all, you know, then you can carry around one cord. Uh, because I, I'm using, um,
spk_0
right now plugged, right now plugged in my computer. I have one, it's on an, on an adapter I'm using
spk_0
for a fire wire cable. I know you use, you never, but, but I have something that works so awesome
spk_0
on fire wire. I love it. Uh, okay. So I have that. Then I've got a USB, uh, plugged in USB, right?
spk_0
I also big hub behind. I've got about six hard drives plugged in. And then there's USB 2.0,
spk_0
3.0. Now you're getting a different connections on the other end. Uh, and, uh, transfers data a lot quicker.
spk_0
And I will say that, but if everyone went USB-C and you were able to, what do you just have a,
spk_0
you know, you have one cord in your pocket, a small cord, right? I've seen something that are
spk_0
retractable, you know, so you can actually, they retract and you can, you know, nice and small,
spk_0
and then they open up. Uh, if you could have just one, one cord, the world would be a better place.
spk_0
Okay. This is a 2019 Kid Friday.com production. All right,
spk_0
Reserve. Don't mess with us. Or we're going to send, I don't know, I don't know, I should give,
spk_0
you know, we should do a giveaway. Although, you know what, it's in, it's in my name and I have,
spk_0
you have to sign it with where, um, you know, you have to sign it when you check out. So I can't
spk_0
give this away $6.17. By the way, I just noticed, now I told you, I lose these rebate checks all the time.
spk_0
This one I got, I, I received it and you can, I don't know if you can see it or not, but, uh,
spk_0
I, uh, this check is from July 26th of 2018. Okay.
spk_0
It's been hiding under a seat in my car and I'm always losing these things.
spk_0
I found it and it's still good. And, but it's from, it's from last July. That's nuts.
spk_0
