spk_0 Up Dog, fella. You know I have one rule to live by, right?
spk_0 What? Like don't get fancy when the game's on the line?
spk_0 Or how about you don't touch the cup before you win it?
spk_0 Uh, maybe I'll always bring your own tape, fella. I don't know. You tell me.
spk_0 Nope. I mean, yes. But those are not the rules.
spk_0 Always drink your Jagger Mice-Tur ice cold. That's the rule.
spk_0 Everything else is merely a suggestion.
spk_0 Really? Everything else?
spk_0 Everything else.
spk_0 Like wearing your clean underwear every day?
spk_0 Personal decision. Brushing your teeth.
spk_0 Obviously smart, but not a rule.
spk_0 Always buy shots for the fellas.
spk_0 Okay. Maybe there are two rules.
spk_0 But the one that I 100% insist on, drink your Jagger Mice-Tur ice cold,
spk_0 or you don't drink it at all, fella.
spk_0 Damn, that's cold.
spk_0 Exactly, Ups. You're finally starting to get it.

spk_0 This Jeff Blaschall, I'm listening to Missing Curfew.
spk_0 What's Missing Curfew? It's when you kind of play guilty, but you show up.
spk_0 How nice is a green light on the road, though.
spk_0 No practice tomorrow. No plane. Just go.
spk_0 Scotty Upshall, in the clear, any score!
spk_0 Get ready to find scores!
spk_0 Few laughs, a little bit of fun, and obviously a lot of happy times.
spk_0 You're listening to Missing Curfew.
spk_0 Fellas, come with you from all past media.
spk_0 In beautiful Newport Beach, which I will get to in my milk cart and segment here.
spk_0 This is Missing Curfew. Before we start snapping around D to D,
spk_0 up to the up dog, back to the middle.
spk_0 Never forget that this show was always presented by Draft Kings.
spk_0 Draft Kings, the crown is yours.
spk_0 We got the up dog, and head to toe, or there's gear.
spk_0 The season must be coming right around the corner.
spk_0 And our boy, swishy swish, who's been firing on extra smorghing.
spk_0 It was unbelievable entertaining.
spk_0 If you're not following swishy on acts, it's a must follow up dog.
spk_0 Yeah, and I feel like he gets an extra hour on us.
spk_0 So I wake up in the morning. He's already...
spk_0 If he's fired, he's fired. He's on that mountain standard timeout.
spk_0 So here on the PST, we come out...
spk_0 I like to check out my boys in the morning, see what kind of live Instagram stories we got going.
spk_0 And swishy, you were on fire today, buddy.
spk_0 What's shaking over there in Desert Landfella?
spk_0 Yeah, well, I woke up last night.
spk_0 I was watching NHL Network, I was bored, I was a bit stone,
spk_0 and I was just sitting there watching some preseason action.
spk_0 So I had the Vancouver Conducts game going on.
spk_0 I just had a little breakdown of a nice play by Linus Carlson.
spk_0 It was a nice pick play that led to a goal.
spk_0 So I threw that up there, and I threw in the Tweet.
spk_0 It was just the Hongcouver Conducts.
spk_0 There's just a few guys I had to just put in their place, and that was that.
spk_0 Yeah, I called some dude a doorknob.
spk_0 It was either between Doorknob or Penselnack.
spk_0 I went with Doorknob, I just felt like that was what he was.
spk_0 So sometimes on X, you got to put people, especially the dipshit's out there.
spk_0 Just sit him down or stuff him into a locker right quick.
spk_0 So I like doing that.
spk_0 Doorknob was what made me laugh.
spk_0 They held out.
spk_0 The physically I was like getting the coffee at Bucky's, and I'm like right at the end of the post,
spk_0 it's like, you have fucking Doorknob.
spk_0 It's been a long time since I've called someone a Doorknob or heard some, it's a good one.
spk_0 Like if you're just, if a guy's like, it's just a pigeon, you're like, you're a Doorknob.
spk_0 I don't know.
spk_0 I like that.
spk_0 Yeah, there was a few guys last day that wanted to rip on, on some X.
spk_0 We're going to talk about it today on the milk carton, but yeah, I feel like, swizzy, if,
spk_0 if that's the one thing that they get some going, I mean shit.
spk_0 You know, they don't see all your tweets in, but.
spk_0 100% and also, you know, it's just, I always think it's just, it's funny, man.
spk_0 Like if you can't laugh at, I laugh at those people.
spk_0 They should be laughing at me.
spk_0 So it's, I love going at people on X a little bit, Sherprin here and there.
spk_0 You know, it's entertaining.
spk_0 Hey, it is entertaining.
spk_0 You're good at it.
spk_0 How, like you, you can really, you'll fire off like a couple paragraphs.
spk_0 Like, do you go back over it and proofread it?
spk_0 Are you just like one and done?
spk_0 Like you just snap it out there, but are you give it a little proofread before you hit
spk_0 the airwaves?
spk_0 Yeah, usually, usually I'll proofread it.
spk_0 And sometimes I'll be, I'll have to stop my head while I'm driving.
spk_0 Now I'm not saying you should be texting and driving.
spk_0 But if I can fire it off at a stoplight or quickly, then I'll have to usually go through it and just make sure
spk_0 it sounds okay.
spk_0 I like to just tweet how I would talk.
spk_0 A lot of people always tell me like my grammar or this and that isn't perfect.
spk_0 Well, yeah, I mean, I'm a kid that went to North Dakota for three years and still don't have a college degree, right?
spk_0 So I just have this thought in my head and I could fire it out in probably 15 seconds.
spk_0 Like the tweet is already in my memory.
spk_0 You know what I mean?
spk_0 It's like a photographic shot of what I want to put and then I just write it.
spk_0 Voice notes.
spk_0 Yes.
spk_0 Hey, did don't stop, can't you?
spk_0 Yeah, true.
spk_0 Yeah, when they're in your head just fired on hey Siri, voice note this motherfucker and just rip it.
spk_0 I never use voice notes.
spk_0 I should.
spk_0 I know.
spk_0 The only problem with voice notes for me up dog is I don't really speak in English as is.
spk_0 So all the terminology always gets fucked up.
spk_0 So then I'm just, no, you're a sift and through that where it's like I got to edit so much.
spk_0 I usually just hack away it on the keyboard.
spk_0 No, you're good.
spk_0 You're a really good writer and the way you can put it together and you obviously use your lingo on it.
spk_0 But he may be better than loophole.
spk_0 I always thought loophole was all my boys that I know I always thought loops was the best writer.
spk_0 Like I've been I've been all over loops since he's retired to like either write a book book or like is blogging still thing?
spk_0 Do people still bloggers that says I'm not going to be it's called logging.
spk_0 Yeah, like just he's so funny.
spk_0 Like he's funny obviously in real life too when you hang out with him.
spk_0 But when he writes shit down, it's hilarious.
spk_0 Would you agree to?
spk_0 No, he's just witty.
spk_0 Yeah, text or witty.
spk_0 It's quick in their witty and he says it like it's it's on the golf course, you know, after you miss a short putt, he's chirping here.
spk_0 Yeah, yeah, he's just he's good and he's always been good at it.
spk_0 But yeah, if you wrote a book, I don't know how I don't know how dark it would go.
spk_0 Well, we you have to have someone that's some a goal.
spk_0 Whoa, whoa, there.
spk_0 Hey, keep her friendly here, fella. Keep her friendly.
spk_0 Yeah, no, we'd have to have someone help and improve reading it.
spk_0 Like, you know, I will just keep that part out.
spk_0 Yeah, let's just keep that part out.
spk_0 But I agree with Swishy. Hey, it fell as out there.
spk_0 Everyone, it's just, you know, it's entertainment, right?
spk_0 It's showbiz.
spk_0 Swishy, we're just trying to entertain the people.
spk_0 It's a joke.
spk_0 Don't take it any so seriously.
spk_0 Right? Life's too short to be just bitter all the time.
spk_0 I'd rather laugh than be miserable all the time.
spk_0 Don't I mean?
spk_0 I just looking for clickbait boys.
spk_0 I mean, they're the the keyboard monsters set at home,
spk_0 talking to mother's basement, having showered in a week.
spk_0 Bustin.
spk_0 They don't know if they couldn't fucking picture a wet wipe from a dry wipe.
spk_0 They're just they're in one.
spk_0 So they're high gene in general.
spk_0 It's not perfect.
spk_0 They're perfect.
spk_0 Which he's new up ready to my open coffee care boys.
spk_0 High gene.
spk_0 Listen boys, I've been a big kills guy.
spk_0 Big kills guy, right?
spk_0 I got a kills program.
spk_0 I got a facial program that I pretty,
spk_0 like if I was as dedicated to maybe hockey as I am to my face program,
spk_0 could have stretched out a little bit longer.
spk_0 Yeah, nice.
spk_0 However, I've always been like, you know, a kills body wash,
spk_0 a kills face rob and.
spk_0 It's actually this summer.
spk_0 The cottage.
spk_0 My dad pitted brought home some good old fashioned Irish spring soap.
spk_0 Right.
spk_0 And I was like, you know what?
spk_0 Muskie.
spk_0 It was just nice.
spk_0 And I had a big old bottle of kills that has finally come to an end.
spk_0 So I went out.
spk_0 Mac Miller went out and bought.
spk_0 Fucking must have been.
spk_0 I don't know.
spk_0 Abundal.
spk_0 She went to Costco.
spk_0 She brought on 12 bars Irish soap.
spk_0 But anyways, do you ever use soap?
spk_0 Remember back in the day and the showers of the boys where you just had to throw the soap around.
spk_0 There'd be pubes on it and everything.
spk_0 But when's the last time you used a good bar soap is what I wanted to do.
spk_0 Boys, because I've made the switch.
spk_0 And I had a nice shower this morning.
spk_0 It was nice.
spk_0 I will be completely honest with you.
spk_0 I have a stash of Irish spring soap in my extra stash drawer at my house.
spk_0 They're there.
spk_0 I haven't used them much.
spk_0 I think there's still one that's a little dampy in my shower like up in the top corner there.
spk_0 I'm a native native body wash guy.
spk_0 You know the native brand?
spk_0 I don't know.
spk_0 I'm my small natural.
spk_0 It's a big Amazon seller.
spk_0 If you probably punched in like natural men's body wash, it'd probably come out.
spk_0 Does it get the stink out?
spk_0 It gets the stink out.
spk_0 At least from what I think.
spk_0 Because I don't wear much.
spk_0 I don't wear deodorant on the daily either.
spk_0 You're not really a sweater though.
spk_0 I'm not a sweater.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 But to your point, it's been a minute since I walked into a shower with a bunch of naked dudes who just finished hockey and a half or a hairy half aren't.
spk_0 And you know, they got that bar soap credit carding it right through the butt cheeks.
spk_0 And you just go, hey buddy, come on.
spk_0 Just put it on the hands.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Rub it on the hands and then through the, through the arse.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 You take the soap and shove it in there like my amics.
spk_0 All right.
spk_0 Fuck.
spk_0 There was guys that that's hilarious.
spk_0 There was guys that just look at it and like, fella, come on man.
spk_0 Just put it on your hands.
spk_0 Oh, fucking Christ.
spk_0 God, that was a bad look.
spk_0 But, so if you look back to those days, especially in the jungle, right?
spk_0 You go into jungle showers are greasy.
spk_0 And they have like three bars of soap and some shitty fucking.
spk_0 And you're like, you're passing it around.
spk_0 Like, if you think back, like, that wasn't very hygienic, right?
spk_0 Is that the right word to use there, fella?
spk_0 Oh, it's disgusting, dude.
spk_0 I call that the penitentiary special.
spk_0 You know what I mean?
spk_0 It's just you get that bar of soap, a greasy shower.
spk_0 Now, I mean, there's so many different things you got to worry about in terms of, you know,
spk_0 if you don't have sandals on, am I going to get warrants from this shower?
spk_0 What other bodily fluids are in here?
spk_0 And then you factor in just an Irish spring soap bar full of pubes.
spk_0 Now, that is disgusting.
spk_0 I would even, I would look at that and it'd be so choked.
spk_0 I'd go in there and rinse off.
spk_0 But sometimes I'd be like, I'd have to go back to the hotel.
spk_0 We're probably staying at the Lakita in the jungle.
spk_0 And I'd shower there, too.
spk_0 So sometimes those ranks, man, oh, that's San Diego where the gulls played.
spk_0 Were you guys played that away locker?
spk_0 Was so greasy?
spk_0 Yeah, well, I took that.
spk_0 I went over there one day to see somebody I put ahead and I was like,
spk_0 oh, that's not perfect.
spk_0 Oh, man.
spk_0 Yeah, it's just like damp and moist and put, you know, just an old Colosseum.
spk_0 It's not perfect.
spk_0 We had a brand new room there where lucky.
spk_0 That was the only thing that was brand new in that whole building.
spk_0 That big massive character.
spk_0 That was the arena from almost famous.
spk_0 Oh, it is.
spk_0 Nice.
spk_0 Where she walks down at the start of the movie, down that ramp.
spk_0 That's where we would go in.
spk_0 That's right.
spk_0 Yeah, never so good.
spk_0 San Diego Sports Arena, it's called.
spk_0 I just, you know, the guys that would go in and just laugh, there's them, you know,
spk_0 they'd sit there and I'm picturing like just some world fuckers down your team.
spk_0 You come in and they're just, oh, yeah.
spk_0 They got so, but they grabbed the bar of Irish spring.
spk_0 They're all over their face.
spk_0 You're just like, fuck, man, that's aggressive.
spk_0 It's really aggressive.
spk_0 And like if you think about it, you know, you're good Western leader.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Like I've had a lot of bad showers in Ontario, hockey league in that waste room.
spk_0 Then you go to the, like think about how many, you know, bad showers we had to like just awful
spk_0 no water pressure.
spk_0 We made it out of the live.
spk_0 We made it out of the line.
spk_0 I still got some, sometimes there's a little bucket fungus shows up on my arms.
spk_0 I'm like, what the fuck is this?
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Put that, put in the Irish spring soap bar on your face is an absolute maniac.
spk_0 That soap would take the chrome off a trailer or trailer hitch.
spk_0 You know what I mean?
spk_0 Like that stuff is potent.
spk_0 If you put that on your face, dude, that's crazy.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 They would think it's bad for your skin because I, I, I, what eyes it right now.
spk_0 Does there's so much perfume and shit in that like it's only.
spk_0 It's there for a reason.
spk_0 It's, you know, it's on sale for a reason for sure.
spk_0 Is it budget?
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Well, it's palatable.
spk_0 It's a luxury fucking bars there.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Is what Shemaltzi says.
spk_0 Well, up he's right.
spk_0 All that soap.
spk_0 I mean, I even use, I'll use like a swagger from.
spk_0 Well, fucking back though.
spk_0 You know what I mean?
spk_0 Like I'll use like a, some of these soaps they have like yellow five in it.
spk_0 All these different dyes like it's not perfect for your skin.
spk_0 So these body washes though.
spk_0 Let's go back to the body with them.
spk_0 They got to have shit in them too, no?
spk_0 Like if you go get an axe body watch.
spk_0 Yes.
spk_0 Oh, yeah.
spk_0 So what do you use in all natural stinky won't get the stink out, but not gonna fuck up your skin?
spk_0 Yeah, no, like pro's of irispring soap right here contains moisturizing ingredients like
spk_0 flax seed oil provides a refreshing and invigorating scent hypoallergenic fella.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Free of harsh chemicals like parabens and sulfates.
spk_0 So that's pretty good and can be used on sensitive skin.
spk_0 All sex.
spk_0 The cons is some people might find the fragrance too strong.
spk_0 And look, not suitable for extremely dry or oily skin because the fuck it'll dry you
spk_0 right out.
spk_0 That's okay.
spk_0 I got a body lotion that I fucking could take care of that.
spk_0 So listen, it's a popular choice fella for cleansing and moisturizing properties.
spk_0 So I think you're on the sun.
spk_0 That's pretty good.
spk_0 Thanks, bud.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Swishy, what are you using?
spk_0 But as a single guy that's mixing up, what do you got for body washing or in your establishment
spk_0 there?
spk_0 I've tried some of the more friendly ones for your skin.
spk_0 The ones that don't have the dyes or the yellow five.
spk_0 Like a lot of these, especially old spice when I use swagger, like it's not great with
spk_0 a lot of the chemicals in it.
spk_0 But I mean, you can take a shower and that scent will last forever.
spk_0 And especially, I'm not a huge deodorant guy, especially before a workout or something
spk_0 in the morning.
spk_0 So I'll usually just go old spice swagger.
spk_0 I'm old school.
spk_0 I've been using that for, I don't know, 15 years.
spk_0 Lather up the swagger, OBS.
spk_0 Go from there.
spk_0 But I've tried the all natural ones.
spk_0 They just, I feel like they don't get the stench out.
spk_0 You know what I mean?
spk_0 I know.
spk_0 I had to like a, what's the company called for giving out free doctor snatch or something?
spk_0 It's not Dr. Snatch, but that was you back when you were playing.
spk_0 Kyle, pull up natural deodorants doctor or something or other.
spk_0 I thought it was, I, I will why we're on the topic is you have a good facial program.
spk_0 But I do.
spk_0 I'm putting a caldera.
spk_0 You heard the caldera group.
spk_0 All natural Stacy Kebler who yeah, talk about getaway sticks, but she right there.
spk_0 She's behind it.
spk_0 Dr. Squatch, not swatch.
spk_0 Oh, squatchy, I use that for deodorant, all natural deodorant.
spk_0 I'm behind her.
spk_0 I'm behind her, baby.
spk_0 And I was stinky, man.
spk_0 I put it on and I'm fucking going somewhere and I'm thinking, well, who is that?
spk_0 Now, that's me.
spk_0 So I couldn't, I couldn't use the, do you use all natural deodorant as well?
spk_0 I use, yeah, I do.
spk_0 It's in the other.
spk_0 It's a brand.
spk_0 Well, if I'm not using old spice, which is just my quick on the go get it, get it.
spk_0 There's ones that like, I get leaves a little fucking streak though, you know.
spk_0 Hey, Sissy, I hear T's use that old spice because if he's on the go, he's on the go
spk_0 every day.
spk_0 So I'll be like, get all the spices getting a good workout, eh?
spk_0 Yeah, he's buying the three pack every Monday.
spk_0 Hey, are you guys old school like that or sprain?
spk_0 No, I'm old school.
spk_0 Like, fuck you like the, do you like the white streaks or the, like, is that my shirt?
spk_0 I, it's on my shirt.
spk_0 It's on the black shirt.
spk_0 It's on my shirt.
spk_0 So yeah, back to this Caltera and Lab, best, best men's stuff I've seen for face.
spk_0 Really?
spk_0 So if you're getting off the keels, I love keels.
spk_0 I'm going to get some of this stuff.
spk_0 I got this other moisturizer that's sure you got a some jungle where they get it out
spk_0 of the fucking rainforest, man.
spk_0 You put it on your face.
spk_0 It's, you know, I got it.
spk_0 It's city, city Crawford company.
spk_0 Nice.
spk_0 I put it on, dude.
spk_0 It's just like my skin.
spk_0 It's just like, what's that thing for your nose that you're telling me about?
spk_0 Boom, boom.
spk_0 This thing's unbelievable.
spk_0 This is good at the boom boom.
spk_0 Boom, boom, boom.
spk_0 Fuck is my nose in one right now.
spk_0 So it's my allergies.
spk_0 My allergies to these fucking fans, they have return.
spk_0 Do you ever watch Shark Tank swish your ups?
spk_0 Do you ever watch Shark Tank?
spk_0 Of course.
spk_0 I watch it right there.
spk_0 So these guys came on Shark Tank and they all have a Cuban from all of them.
spk_0 We're all over them making them offers.
spk_0 And these guys, I think it was a guy and a girl.
spk_0 Anyways, they had the stones to say, beat it sharks.
spk_0 And now the company's worth, I don't know, 150 million or 250 million.
spk_0 Can you go boom, boom anal stick and just shove it right up to hoop or what?
spk_0 I be the boom boom nasal stick.
spk_0 I mean, I'm sure you could.
spk_0 I use the boom, boom lavender.
spk_0 And you just take a couple fucking pulls of it.
spk_0 Oh, just it's enlightening.
spk_0 And I'll be, I'll tell you what, my beak is in one.
spk_0 And it just opens everything up.
spk_0 I need a moisturizing one.
spk_0 One that's like, I think you should give this a, can you raise them?
spk_0 No, yeah, you should just get the, just get the old school smelling salts gone every
spk_0 morning.
spk_0 Just take a whiff of that.
spk_0 You see these guys are having to hide the smelling salts, right?
spk_0 They put them in their pockets now because they kind of banned them.
spk_0 Wow.
spk_0 So we're in Rogers the other day before the snap was like, eh.
spk_0 I don't know about banning the sulfur.
spk_0 I love our eating strong salt.
spk_0 All right, swissie, nothing like a good smelling salt after the national anthem.
spk_0 Let's go boys.
spk_0 So especially if you got to shake off the cobwebs or something too, you know, I would
spk_0 even sometimes for a practice, you know, the odd time.
spk_0 Well, sometimes we did the night before in fella.
spk_0 Exactly, right?
spk_0 You just go in there for a little sniff.
spk_0 You're ready to go.
spk_0 Sniffers roll.
spk_0 Hey, do you think there's guys in the NHL?
spk_0 I think I know the, that I've never used a bar soap.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Like Conor Bernard's never used a bar soap.
spk_0 I bet you're right, Russians for sure.
spk_0 Ross stinky.
spk_0 Alexei smear it off.
spk_0 No, wouldn't use anything.
spk_0 Just go in literally boys.
spk_0 We call him the Clydesdale because he was so fucking lazy.
spk_0 I even call him the Clydesdale.
spk_0 He hit the water hit him and then he get out and we're like smear as he.
spk_0 Fuck man.
spk_0 You got to have a little like here.
spk_0 Here's some, you know, never.
spk_0 No, I don't.
spk_0 No, I'm like, you stink.
spk_0 You stink.
spk_0 So free.
spk_0 Now there's stinky guy I play with.
spk_0 Michael Grabner stinky.
spk_0 Really?
spk_0 We let him play at the poker table as a rookie.
spk_0 And I said, listen, I, I don't love rookies.
spk_0 He's playing at the poker table, but whatever.
spk_0 I'm getting that ranked here by the boys, but you got to do something about that.
spk_0 Listen, Van.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 You got to do something about the body order.
spk_0 Like we can't have you at the table as a rookie stink.
spk_0 Right?
spk_0 That's fair.
spk_0 That's fair.
spk_0 None of us.
spk_0 No, that's common sense.
spk_0 He was the guy who rolled his ankle and soccer and I had to go play too.
spk_0 And I was, yeah.
spk_0 Oh, you did.
spk_0 You rolled his ankle?
spk_0 No, he rolled.
spk_0 I, I've told the story before I think, but like, yeah, I was a healthy scratch on the
spk_0 Sunday and yeah.
spk_0 Oh, he rolled his ankle.
spk_0 He rolled his ankle playing soccer and I had to get the column in.
spk_0 You're playing play forward.
spk_0 You thought I was playing forward.
spk_0 Got there.
spk_0 Swishy, I was fucking 34.
spk_0 Do you mean me?
spk_0 I'd be access to not like playing a real game on my whole man.
spk_0 This could go one of two ways.
spk_0 Want to tense tough.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 That's tough.
spk_0 You get thrown in the fire like that.
spk_0 You're just all out of whack.
spk_0 You're like, all right.
spk_0 Hopefully I just don't go minus three.
spk_0 My first three shifts here.
spk_0 David Coachie dumped it in my corner and fucking hit me and snapped me out of it.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 You just hit me so hard that I was like, all right.
spk_0 I'm, I'm into this now.
spk_0 Let's go.
spk_0 I'm back.
spk_0 I'm playing call out.
spk_0 They're so bad back then we beat them.
spk_0 So anyways, boys, I want to let the boys know here and I'm back on the Irish Spring.
spk_0 Give a chance, boys.
spk_0 If you're looking to mix it up a little bit, continue with our intro here.
spk_0 Listen, I don't even know who bad bunny is.
spk_0 Who the fuck is bad bunny, Swishy?
spk_0 He is a Spanish rapper.
spk_0 Like he kind of like you go into like a tokamadera like spot.
spk_0 You know what I mean?
spk_0 Like kind of rain for his vibes.
spk_0 Like it's like club music.
spk_0 But he's, all of his music isn't Spanish.
spk_0 Is it like his own reggaeton?
spk_0 Oh, it's like a, I would say it's almost, it's kind of like in between house and hip hop.
spk_0 Is how I'd kind of explain it.
spk_0 Okay.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 It's not bad.
spk_0 He's good.
spk_0 Well, on that proportion, like is he really like the crazy freak weirdo that everyone's
spk_0 kind of making him out to be or what the hell's going on?
spk_0 I don't even know who he is.
spk_0 Why would the NFL do this?
spk_0 So I, I realized this too.
spk_0 And I'm correct.
spk_0 If I'm wrong, I thought I heard this right.
spk_0 Swishy and Ups.
spk_0 The NFL doesn't pay you to do the halftime show.
spk_0 Is that correct?
spk_0 Swishy, have you heard that?
spk_0 I think that is true.
spk_0 Yes.
spk_0 So the way they look at it is, if you do the halftime show, we're going to blow you up.
spk_0 There's so many eyeballs on you.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 So do you think maybe it's just one of his course where people are like, I'm not going
spk_0 to do this for free.
spk_0 Like they were talking about trying to get Taylor Swift and obviously she said no way.
spk_0 I always thought they paid the people.
spk_0 I thought they paid them lots of money to do the halftime show.
spk_0 Like I thought they were going to pay big time.
spk_0 Hell, it makes sense that you wouldn't.
spk_0
spk_0 You know, because you're, there's so many eyeballs, so many eyeballs, but, but this is the last
spk_0 time you guys were like, this is the happy time show is actually good.
spk_0 The last good halftime show.
spk_0 Michael Jackson.
spk_0 Janet Jackson when her tip fell out.
spk_0 Exactly.
spk_0 Like, do you remember one, even from the last 10 years that you're like, wow, that was
spk_0 really good.
spk_0 Did Metallica ever play?
spk_0 I don't think they have ups.
spk_0 I think I liked when I'm an M came home and started spitting a couple of years ago.
spk_0 He isn't having them do it.
spk_0
spk_0 Like, did you like Kendrick's performance last year?
spk_0 Do you, do you really watch the halftime show by that time?
spk_0 You're, you're so pinned.
spk_0 You're worried about your bets.
spk_0 It's like, I'm using really, I'm usually scrambled to get a second half for in there.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 I'm usually scrambled to get a second half for in there.
spk_0 Prince.
spk_0 Snoop Dogg.
spk_0 Michael Jackson.
spk_0 Miss reading Lady Gaga.
spk_0 Nope.
spk_0 Jennifer Lopez.
spk_0 Nope.
spk_0 Like, I don't know.
spk_0 It's not perfect.
spk_0 They've never, it's not like they got a perfect record.
spk_0 Rihanna.
spk_0 Shrana was shaking it up there.
spk_0 Tight what?
spk_0 Chili pepper.
spk_0 Jennifer Lowe.
spk_0 Maris is still.
spk_0 Bruno Mars and Chili peppers.
spk_0 There you go.
spk_0 That's good.
spk_0 Well, Jennifer Lowe pet still looks amazing for 55.
spk_0 Tom Petty.
spk_0 God rest his soul.
spk_0 Tom Petty.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 The who?
spk_0 Prince.
spk_0 See, back in the early 2000s, there's some good ones.
spk_0 Rolling stones, Paul McCartney, you too.
spk_0 Anyways, I don't love it.
spk_0 I think, I don't know who he is, but I was just like, it's a Super Bowl here.
spk_0 Let's just, let's go with something like rock or something or even country.
spk_0 Country's so popular now.
spk_0 Give me like Luke Holmes.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 No, I agree.
spk_0 I mean, Jerry Jones came on and said, I think his players want a boycott.
spk_0 The game.
spk_0 Did you hear that?
spk_0 He doesn't have to worry about being a Super Bowl.
spk_0 Or he's just not going to boycott every game.
spk_0 Maybe I just read some clickbait, but yeah.
spk_0 I don't know.
spk_0 I don't know.
spk_0 We'll see.
spk_0 Maybe he'll prove me wrong.
spk_0 Do chicks like it?
spk_0 Swishy?
spk_0 Like, do broads love bad buddy?
spk_0 Is he getting?
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Swishy doing all right there.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 I mean, he's dated one of the Kardashians or the generous.
spk_0 I don't know if it was Kylie or Kendall, but I know one of the, I think it was Kylie or
spk_0 Kendall was going back between bad bunny and deep book.
spk_0 So she was kind of just plan her cards that way.
spk_0 But it was, I mean, it was, it was Jenner, the hot one he was dating because I saw a clip
spk_0 of it after they announced him.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 By the way, he gets the broads going for shots two different, you know, animals there.
spk_0 If you're, if you're hanging out with a general or a Kardashian, right?
spk_0 Genders are a lot.
spk_0 Those, those girls are a lot harder than the Kardashian, Kardashian story in my opinion.
spk_0 I agree.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 I mean, I bet you guys didn't know this.
spk_0 Jay Z company rock nation picks the Super Bowl acts.
spk_0 Really?
spk_0 Correct.
spk_0 Yep.
spk_0 That's since 2019.
spk_0 He's picked the halftime artist and helped produce the show.
spk_0 Um, it's all Jay Z's fault.
spk_0 I love, that was a big Jay Z fan back in the day.
spk_0 Oh, rock nation has been.
spk_0 But even Roger, pick who's going to do it or what?
spk_0 Roger, could always go have a little bit of a put on that.
spk_0 So anyways, well, fellas, you probably already know Zin is America's number one nicotine
spk_0 pouch.
spk_0 But let's talk about what happens, fellas, when you've got a Zin in like a busy weekday
spk_0 with Zin, you're going to be free to stay locked into whatever is more important than stepping
spk_0 out for a smoke.
spk_0 Let's face it, when something important is going on, you don't want to be one of those
spk_0 who has to step away.
spk_0 You want to be right in on the action who's free to show up when it really counts.
spk_0 Keep finding your freedom.
spk_0 Find your Zin.
spk_0 Morning, this product contains nicotine nicotine is an addictive chemical.
spk_0 See you bad buddy.
spk_0 Proof me wrong fella.
spk_0 We'll be right back.
spk_0 I'm missing curfew.
spk_0 Welcome back to Mr. curfew.
spk_0 Jaffe King's baby bets bets some more bets presented by draft Kings.
spk_0 Draft Kings, the crown is yours.
spk_0 Always gamble responsibly, fellas, but get some skin of the game.
spk_0 We got hockey coming up next week.
spk_0 I cannot wait.
spk_0 I'm going to tread carefully into the NHL season.
spk_0 No, boys, I'm going to tread carefully.
spk_0 NFL week four up dog.
spk_0 We'll leave it off to you.
spk_0 You got the most games played here at Missing Curfew.
spk_0 Who you liking?
spk_0 What do you see in?
spk_0 Can't believe it's already week four, right?
spk_0 Just fly.
spk_0 Hi, it's flying.
spk_0 Listen, I'm a new, we got a Thursday nighter here tonight, boys.
spk_0 Rams at home against the 49ers, banged up 49ers.
spk_0 I know that because I got two guys on my fantasy squad that are not in the lineup.
spk_0 But that line moved drastically.
spk_0 It's now 10 and a half for Rams.
spk_0 So I'm going to banged up.
spk_0 I'm going to take the Rams boys and those points.
spk_0 I'm also going to tease that into the Sunday nighter, the Buffalo Bills.
spk_0 They're minus seven and a half at home against the New England Patriots as my boys, Stephen
spk_0 A Smith says he's not worried about an upset there.
spk_0 So I'm going to rely on the continued greatness of Josh Allen.
spk_0 And I'm going to take the points there at seven and a hook.
spk_0 Fellow, what are you thinking?
spk_0 That Buffalo Patriots has upshall loop all over T's written all over it too, by the way.
spk_0 I think you're right on that swishy.
spk_0 You go ahead, fellow.
spk_0 Are you going to stay there in the desert with Arizona, coward of cargels?
spk_0 No, I'm actually going to send it over to jet life stadium just outside of East Rutherford, New Jersey.
spk_0 Now I'm looking at this game.
spk_0 Is this a trap game, boys?
spk_0 The one two and one Kyle Cowboys are going into the chin of New Jersey.
spk_0 Like I said, they're playing the jets.
spk_0 This game right now as it stands is minus two and a half Dallas.
spk_0 Dac obviously coming off a good week offensively putting up 40 points last week against the green bait packers.
spk_0 The jets are on four two and a half points that that seems a little low to me.
spk_0 I'm slightly concerned why that line is so low, but I'm going to stay with it.
spk_0 I'm going to go with Jerry Jones as Cowboys.
spk_0 I think they're going to march in there on Sunday.
spk_0 That is 10 a.m. Pacific standard here on the West Coast.
spk_0 I like this game.
spk_0 I like the Cowboys who go in there.
spk_0 I think they have some momentum.
spk_0 They're feeling, you know, at least decent with the offensive performance they put up last week.
spk_0 So I'm going to stick with Dac.
spk_0 I'm going to ride them America's team, baby minus two and a hook.
spk_0 Listen, Dac Press Scott is playing at an MVP level.
spk_0 He really is.
spk_0 He's making it right now over the place.
spk_0 Now, however, the jets can run the ball.
spk_0 Breeze Hall.
spk_0 Can the Cowboys stop the run and can the jets defense stop Dac?
spk_0 I mean, this one to me again feels like over city for 47 and a half.
spk_0 Both their defense is fucking kind of stink.
spk_0 Like who the jets just play Miami Miami, two and the boys were just fucking making it rain.
spk_0 They were slacking it.
spk_0 So we'll see.
spk_0 We'll see if they can stop the run.
spk_0 But I like that swishy boys.
spk_0 I got three games over here.
spk_0 I got up dogs in and out was Colts to bounce back.
spk_0 They lost a heart breaker out here at SoulFile last weekend minus seven against the Raiders from Las Vegas.
spk_0 I like that.
spk_0 I think they cover the seven.
spk_0 And then I'm going to go with our boys shaking bake Baker Mayfield.
spk_0 Where is he here?
spk_0 Plus three and a half going into.
spk_0 Sorry boys.
spk_0 Going into Seattle.
spk_0 Tough place to play.
spk_0 Long flight going up from East Coast to West Coast.
spk_0 But I just love Baker Mayfield.
spk_0 They got off to a slow start against your Eagles last week.
spk_0 Had they not got off that slow start and the Eagles fucking blocked the punt for touchdown.
spk_0 They probably wouldn't that game outright.
spk_0 And then my lock.
spk_0 I'm taking Paddy Mahomes and the Chiefs Chiefs Kingdom going into Jacksonville.
spk_0 Moneyline.
spk_0 No boys.
spk_0 Give your balls a tug minus 175 Paddy Mahomes.
spk_0 Moneyline.
spk_0 Chiefs Kingdom.
spk_0 I don't think they lose another game.
spk_0 Let me look at their schedule.
spk_0 Let me look at their schedule.
spk_0 I said that.
spk_0 You said it.
spk_0 Where you said it last last last.
spk_0 I said it Tuesday to you boys.
spk_0 Bold prediction boys.
spk_0 I sold out in it.
spk_0 And then I do not mind it.
spk_0 I don't even know their schedule though.
spk_0 Give your wrench a tug.
spk_0 You got to give it a hug.
spk_0 Swish.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Yeah, you do.
spk_0 Sometimes you get a tug, man.
spk_0 All right.
spk_0 Where we go.
spk_0 Okay.
spk_0 So wow.
spk_0 Okay.
spk_0 They got the Jacksonville Jaguars.
spk_0 Then they got the Dan Campbell and the Lions at home.
spk_0 They should win that game.
spk_0 Raiders at home.
spk_0 They should win that game.
spk_0 Commanders at home.
spk_0 They should win that game.
spk_0 In Buffalo.
spk_0 Okay.
spk_0 They're probably lose that one.
spk_0 In Denver.
spk_0 Fuck.
spk_0 They got some tough games.
spk_0 In the answer.
spk_0 Tough games.
spk_0 They're going to lose the game.
spk_0 Cut that out.
spk_0 Edit that.
spk_0 They're going to lose some games.
spk_0 They're going to lose the Lions.
spk_0 They got the Lions.
spk_0 They got the Lions at Arrowhead.
spk_0 Oh.
spk_0 Oh.
spk_0 Remember when you.
spk_0 Remember when we did that, I can't just see a live with everyone supposed to hang on the
spk_0 drum.
spk_0 I was just off beat city.
spk_0 Sissy, you did the little fucking out.
spk_0 The limbo or whatever.
spk_0 It's called what's that call?
spk_0 But you go on to the stick.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 We were doing the, yeah, the limbo up there.
spk_0 Remember I was going to say something on stage and then the MC at the KC.
spk_0 Live was like, hold on this.
spk_0 Crowd's pretty hostile.
spk_0 I'm going to have to actually take the mic away from you.
spk_0 I don't want you to get shot.
spk_0 I'm like, what?
spk_0 I wasn't the same thing.
spk_0 Crazy.
spk_0 He didn't want to let you have even a second with it.
spk_0 I was just time to shine.
spk_0 He'd be prepping for that all week.
spk_0 He's like, I'm not letting this young look good looking stud come in here and take my
spk_0 thunder.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 They're paying them 22 bucks an hour, right?
spk_0 So what have you to his job?
spk_0 We're lucky someone didn't get shot in there though.
spk_0 I was like, I'm like, we got to get out of here alive.
spk_0 Boys.
spk_0 Good thing they won.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 They played San Fran.
spk_0 So good thing they won the game.
spk_0 You have to play to win the game.
spk_0 You tell you what, the KC live in general is a six set up like a mat.
spk_0 They should have something like that at LA.
spk_0 LA live.
spk_0 No, no, no.
spk_0 Well, they don't hear fashion island, something like fashion island.
spk_0 It wasn't it was cool how all the bars you watch the game.
spk_0 It's all right.
spk_0 It was a cool set up.
spk_0 It just was a unique crowd.
spk_0 Do you think they do that every game or was it just a promotion?
spk_0 Every road game and home game, every game.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Everything else you're doing KC.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Good drunk like we did.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Take the other bars.
spk_0 So it's fun.
spk_0 That's that's their Sunday tradition.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Stuff your barrel with a bunch of brisket.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 I had fun on that trip.
spk_0 That was a good trip.
spk_0 Got to see some trouble.
spk_0 But whatever we go.
spk_0 Took my old fashion right out of my hand.
spk_0 That's what I didn't like that.
spk_0 So she when he took my old fashion right out of my hand.
spk_0 Let me drink it and I'll leave.
spk_0 Yeah, I used this choke because I did a bonehead play where I took a puff with a pen
spk_0 right at the table and then he was mad and then he came over and he grabbed your old
spk_0 fashion and it was you don't have to go home, but you can't stay here.
spk_0 I don't go.
spk_0 Yeah, it was minus one early, but I thought I responded well.
spk_0 Sure.
spk_0 Drop Kings, baby.
spk_0 Boys, always get everybody sponsored like I said, but get some skin in the game.
spk_0 Moving on to we got a new partnership here at Missing Curfew.
spk_0 We were excited about this luxury auto collection out of Scottsdale, Arizona.
spk_0 Johnny's an absolute beauty.
spk_0 The luxury auto collection dog of the week.
spk_0 Fellas, if you're looking to level up your ride, whether it is exotic, a luxury SUV or
spk_0 even a custom van for those golf trips, you got to check out our friends at luxury auto
spk_0 collection.
spk_0 These guys have the best inventory in the game.
spk_0 Listen to this lineup, boys, Ferraris, Lambos, McLaren's, but also trucks, SUVs and boys,
spk_0 Sprinter vans that make those road trips first class.
spk_0 They don't just sell cars, they sell a lifestyle.
spk_0 Promote code curfew will get you free shipping on anything you buy, sick cars, Sprinter vans.
spk_0 I'm telling you, go check out their website.
spk_0 This guy has got a dial.
spk_0 Johnny's absolute beauty.
spk_0 Lottery, actual collection dog of the week.
spk_0 I think this was last week, boys, so I apologize.
spk_0 I haven't been really keeping up too, too much.
spk_0 I'm pretty season hockey.
spk_0 But Brandon Hagel, who was nice enough to jump on with Coup after they won the four nations,
spk_0 you guys know I love a good practice fight.
spk_0 Well, I love a good training camp fight even more.
spk_0 This guy is ready for the season.
spk_0 He's my dog and he's my luxury auto collection dog of the week.
spk_0 Hag is good for you, man.
spk_0 It's easy for veteran guys to come in and just, you know, ease their way through training
spk_0 camp.
spk_0 That's not how you have a winning culture.
spk_0 Stepping up, challenging guys, having a tough hard training camp.
spk_0 And as you guys know, the dog days, right?
spk_0 The training camp goes on.
spk_0 You're sick of being out there against the same guys.
spk_0 You're ready for some real and actual action.
spk_0 So, hags, you're the luxury auto collection dog of the week.
spk_0 I love a good inner squad fight up.
spk_0 Well done.
spk_0 I hate getting fucking cross-checked in the ribs.
spk_0 So I'm all about Hagel turning around and calling out this little Roman kid and going.
spk_0 You want a fucking dance kid?
spk_0 Is that what you did?
spk_0 Cross-checked him?
spk_0 Yeah, he took a cross-check in the ribs.
spk_0 Nothing worse.
spk_0 You go to the net, trying to get a rebound in practice.
spk_0 Get a cross-check in the back of the kidney.
spk_0 You go fucking, it's on.
spk_0 It's on.
spk_0 Sets the tone though.
spk_0 Sets the tone for the season.
spk_0 Knowing that, you know, you're a week away.
spk_0 You got your best players out there grinding and mucking it up.
spk_0 Says a lot to the young guys.
spk_0 And that's just the culture they have.
spk_0 So, well done and all.
spk_0 Yep.
spk_0 My dog or the week boys, I don't know if you caught it yesterday.
spk_0 Okay.
spk_0 There was a broadcast on ESPN between the Cubs and the Padres.
spk_0 There was a matinee going on at Rigglyfield.
spk_0 It was game two, game three going off the bump today.
spk_0 But during the call, ESPN was promoting.
spk_0 They were running a promo for the NHL season, how it's back, opening night.
spk_0 It's going to be on ESPN.
spk_0 And the announcer doing the baseball game at the time, Ben McDonald.
spk_0 Okay.
spk_0 They're running this promo and he's the color guy.
spk_0 The play-by-play guy's like, hey, you know, opening night, Chicago Blackcox, or teed it
spk_0 up on October the seventh next Tuesday.
spk_0 You're going to be watching Ben.
spk_0 He's like, not a chance.
spk_0 So this guy is not only doubling down, saying there's no chance he's going to watch hockey.
spk_0 He's also just going completely against his whole entire business as an employee, saying,
spk_0 you know, basically, I don't watch hockey.
spk_0 I'm not going to watch it.
spk_0 So just an absolute dog move right there.
spk_0 They can for himself, not the company.
spk_0 He's not a company man, clearly.
spk_0 So I just wanted to give some light to Benny McDonnell doing that in a live real time.
spk_0 I thought it was hilarious.
spk_0 He doubled down, saying there's no chance.
spk_0 He's going to be watching the Chicago Blackcox on opening night, even though ESPN has partnered
spk_0 up with the NHL at a multi-billion dollar deal.
spk_0 So that is my dog of the week.
spk_0 Yeah, you got to think the people running it up the flagpole, the ESPN are not thrilled
spk_0 about that, right?
spk_0 Our boy Jackson here at Hall Pass was a great kid baseball guy.
spk_0 That was the first thing he said to me this morning.
spk_0 He was like, what was it?
spk_0 It was in the Cubs game, right?
spk_0 Because the Boudard on the bus.
spk_0 I'm a bugger.
spk_0 Shelley was front row with a sick tan and a pro gem t-shirt on.
spk_0 Fuck man.
spk_0 I helped the boys out here.
spk_0 Sell the game a little, man.
spk_0 He's just a duched life.
spk_0 Who says that?
spk_0 Come on.
spk_0 He says it was a joke.
spk_0 What?
spk_0 I see.
spk_0 He told the athletic, I respect hockey players.
spk_0 I love them.
spk_0 That was a joke.
spk_0 I don't know.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 I don't think it was a joke.
spk_0 You know, from everybody, from when everybody told me it wasn't he was going on my milk
spk_0 carton.
spk_0 This guy, I mean, who does that?
spk_0 Who does that?
spk_0 Especially for your company.
spk_0 Yeah, you got your hawks, you know, good young team coming up.
spk_0 A lot of cap room.
spk_0 A lot of cap room.
spk_0 A lot of cap room.
spk_0 I against the panthers back to back chaps.
spk_0 If I was the, if I was the fucking, if I was blash, perfect timing, who's our guest today,
spk_0 I would just have team shirts that say lots of cap space.
spk_0 Like instead of Chicago black dogs, just lots of cap space.
spk_0 Every time you go into a rink, you just walk in like, hey boys, lots of cap space.
spk_0 Clean it up to sit.
spk_0 Corner, corner, hey, hey bread man, lots of cap space here.
spk_0 That's your either team model.
spk_0 We got a lot of cap space.
spk_0 Yeah, I mean, I, I think it's a whoops on his pride.
spk_0 I don't know.
spk_0 It didn't.
spk_0 Like it's, it's, I feel like hockey's come a long way in this country and Swiss year
spk_0 American born player.
spk_0 Poochi does a halva job.
spk_0 Steve Levy promoting the game.
spk_0 Barry Melrose.
spk_0 It's just too bad that people still, other sports still look at hockey this way.
spk_0 Like, you know, he wouldn't say that about the NBA.
spk_0 Even if he's on NBA fan, he don't watch opening night if it was on ESPN or whatever.
spk_0 Like, it's just sucks that people still look at hockey as like the, you know, as a, as
spk_0 a four sport that nobody cares about down here.
spk_0 Because I don't think that's accurate anymore.
spk_0 And judging by the franchises, oh, a bitment.
spk_0 I mean, hockey franchises are growing way quicker than NBA way quicker.
spk_0 So I'm close.
spk_0 Yeah, I know that was that article.
spk_0 You know, yes, it was just great for hockey.
spk_0 I mean, I've often said on this podcast, I wouldn't watch the NBA, but that's true.
spk_0 I'm not a huge basketball fan.
spk_0 I just for him to actually work for ESPN.
spk_0 And you wouldn't say that if you were working for like, yeah, you know, ESPN or NBC, and
spk_0 they were starting opening the, it'd be like, you know, Reggie Miller saying that for
spk_0 NBC, like, I'm not going to watch it.
spk_0 No, that's different.
spk_0 No, I mean, no, it'd be like Charles Barkley saying hockey sucks.
spk_0 Yeah, I would never watch it.
spk_0 Yeah, but he actually loves hockey.
spk_0 And he's, you know, boys, guys get, Parker goes the other way.
spk_0 When he's on TNT, he's like, ah, they're doing the highlights of the TNT.
spk_0 He's like, I was in the green room watching hockey with the boys.
spk_0 He's not even watching the NBA.
spk_0 He's such a beauty.
spk_0 Oh, yeah, he's always hammering the, the money line on the maple leaves too.
spk_0 Like, that's the squad the leaves.
spk_0 Real men take the money line, swishy.
spk_0 That they made my friend.
spk_0 Money line that they do.
spk_0 So we got a dog and a milk carton belt.
spk_0 Both angles.
spk_0 I liked that boys.
spk_0 We're going to continue on here with the missing curfew milk carton and, uh, listen, I, I, I like
spk_0 Zegris, you know, I got to know a little bit out here.
spk_0 Um, I think this is a true statement from him.
spk_0 If it's not, I apologize to Zee, but from everything that I've seen so far.
spk_0 And listen, he did have a tough year last year.
spk_0 We all go through it.
spk_0 But Zee fell out.
spk_0 I'm putting you on the milk carton for blaming the weather in California for not playing
spk_0 good. It's the nicest weather maybe in the world.
spk_0 There's guys that play in Winnipeg, Edmonton, Calgary, Minnesota.
spk_0 Philly, you get the affiliate and I love the city.
spk_0 Great sports.
spk_0 How but you cannot blame seasonal depression when it's 70 all fucking
spk_0 summer with no rain.
spk_0 It's gorgeous out.
spk_0 There's nothing better for you than vitamin D.
spk_0 And our boys Zee blames the fucking weather for having a tough year.
spk_0 Zee, it's done with love, but you're on the milk carton.
spk_0 Break out that shovel.
spk_0 Look out for the freezing rain and Philly because you're going to get your
spk_0 fucking winter fellow.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 And I'll be out here.
spk_0 I pick, well, not a big king, but I'll be out here at the Bay Club,
spk_0 soaking up the 70 seasonal depression.
spk_0 That's milk carton city.
spk_0 Hey, KC back there put a put a little note on the calendar, the missing
spk_0 curfew calendar that the first snowfall in Philly.
spk_0 We're calling in Zee and I hope he has a great start to the season.
spk_0 So I hope he's got 10 goals and, you know, 10 apples in his first 25 games.
spk_0 And we're calling and we're calling him in to do a little live update to see
spk_0 if the seasonal depression is fixed.
spk_0
spk_0 How do you really start that freezing rain and you can't park your car because
spk_0 the fucking wheels, the wheels are frozen.
spk_0 Your hands are freezing.
spk_0 I'll tell you what's going to make him depressed.
spk_0 When he looks at his bullpen up there compared to the one he had out here in
spk_0 Orange County, now that's going to make him depressed with.
spk_0 She, but he looks, he's like, Holy shit.
spk_0 I got a bunch of fives out here.
spk_0 This is taking me back to the OC, baby.
spk_0 I got a bunch of fives with bad attitudes here in Philly that are mother,
spk_0 fucking me every other day.
spk_0 He's got to be the first guy I was thinking about it.
spk_0 Just laughing last time.
spk_0 He's got to be the first guy and to ever be sick of the sun.
spk_0 Like, you had a pretty good man.
spk_0 You know what I mean?
spk_0 Like what, what are we?
spk_0 What are we talking about?
spk_0 I was laughing at that.
spk_0 I was like seasonal depression from too much sun.
spk_0 That's what the headline reads from Trevor Zegress.
spk_0 I mean, he is in North.
spk_0 How you can he's in North.
spk_0 He's okay.
spk_0 If you want to say it, maybe does add to is how much of a beauty he is.
spk_0 That he's the first put player in the history of the NHL to complain about the weather.
spk_0 In California.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Maybe he's on his stuff.
spk_0 Maybe he is.
spk_0 And listen, up he's right.
spk_0 I hope Z has a great year.
spk_0 I think Rick talk.
spk_0 It's a good coach for him.
spk_0 I'll be you no more than anyone in the fans of Philly.
spk_0 Oh, yeah.
spk_0 Like he's going to have to dig in here.
spk_0 But Z, it's a love fellow.
spk_0 You're blaming the fuck your weather for having a tough year out here.
spk_0 I would have blamed your coach over the weather that you had there last year.
spk_0 But it's all a good fun.
spk_0 Boys here have been to curfew last but not least before we get to our
spk_0 guests that had coach of the Chicago black cocks.
spk_0 Back up the brakes truck.
spk_0 Peep peep peep.
spk_0 Feels like we're back in this fucking thing up.
spk_0 Better get new shocks on this thing.
spk_0 Hey, it's like it's like our spirit of end needs new shocks.
spk_0 Need to do fucking whatever else it needs.
spk_0 Absolutely.
spk_0 No, there's a lot of action.
spk_0 A lot of cash.
spk_0 Right.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Oh, day.
spk_0 A lot of cash.
spk_0 Swishy, these are back.
spk_0 These are defense.
spk_0 And these are defenders too, by this one.
spk_0 Hit close to home to us.
spk_0 We'll start with Luke.
spk_0 Seven years, nine bananas a year for $63 million.
spk_0 Listen, I get it.
spk_0 This is one that they're hoping, you know, on the back half of the last
spk_0 three years, he'll be underpaid.
spk_0 But right now, listen, the kid can skate.
spk_0 I don't love his style out there.
spk_0 I don't love the way he wears his equipment.
spk_0 I don't love his skate to sock ratio.
spk_0 I just he doesn't look like Jack or Quinn Quinn.
spk_0 They both have six style to me.
spk_0 He can skate lots of it's upside.
spk_0 God hurt last year.
spk_0 Listen, with the money being thrown up,
spk_0 up he maybe fits Gerald thought, let's get this kid locked up.
spk_0 But to me, we'll see on this one.
spk_0 44 points, seven goals.
spk_0 He's young, he's 22.
spk_0 We'll see.
spk_0 He's got to stay healthy, but this is a lot of bananas for him.
spk_0 He's making more than his brothers.
spk_0 Yeah, I think you're investing in the sperm there.
spk_0 You're investing in what can be like a lot of GMs now.
spk_0 It's you're investing in the product.
spk_0 You hope it turns out to be in three, four years when the market just goes
spk_0 buck diddy.
spk_0 I do like this kid.
spk_0 I watched him live last year in the holidays.
spk_0 He was the best defenseman on the ice that I watched.
spk_0 It was Carolina, New Jersey.
spk_0 He had the puck on a stick the whole time.
spk_0 He played confident hockey.
spk_0 You know, I saw some promise in this game.
spk_0 So times of upside, that turns upside.
spk_0 I like this deal.
spk_0 How do you like that, though, boys?
spk_0 How do you like going from making 925 to making 9 million?
spk_0 He checks really a lot.
spk_0 Juice your hair.
spk_0 Just add two zeros to the.
spk_0 I was going to say I had a couple zeros.
spk_0 Wow.
spk_0 Hey, going from 925, switching to making 9 bananas.
spk_0 How are you, fella?
spk_0 That'll keep the lights on it.
spk_0 Well, I'll get you a nice little place and hold bouquet.
spk_0 And wherever the fuck you want to live right in snow, bouquet and you're in Jersey.
spk_0 City looking at the statue of liberty, looking at mad hat and picking out.
spk_0 We're going to go and try back at that night.
spk_0 But yeah, I mean, listen, he's an unbelievable young defenseman.
spk_0 It's a little bit of an overpayment like you, boy, said, but the way he skates,
spk_0 his trajectory, he's on his point total is only going to increase the stronger he gets.
spk_0 The more he fills out, I mean, he's a 2003 born kid.
spk_0 He's still just a young fella.
spk_0 So I think as it goes, this will be a value contract.
spk_0 I just think going into this year, he's not like a guy in a playoff series,
spk_0 Obi, that is going to match up against a team's top line and play heavy hockey
spk_0 around the net.
spk_0 There's things he's going to have to work on continue to fill out.
spk_0 But I like to deal.
spk_0 I mean, you got a pae or, you know, at this point, these kids, it's either you pay him
spk_0 or you trade him.
spk_0 So I like to play the caps going up.
spk_0 It's going to be a good deal.
spk_0 I just think, you know, maybe the first two years, he's obviously going to be overpaid
spk_0 a little bit.
spk_0 I think fits.
spk_0 He's thinking to Tom Fitzgerald that is, yeah, the you're exactly what you're thinking,
spk_0 especially like I'm going to lock this kid up.
spk_0 The cap's going to go up and in three years, this is going to be a steal much like the
spk_0 kill McCarr contract right now and Quinn Hughes contract big time.
spk_0 He's making more and more of those guys right now.
spk_0 Yep.
spk_0 That's insane.
spk_0 It's insane.
spk_0 But listen, good for him.
spk_0 The whole Hughes family, Jack was at the Yankees game last night,
spk_0 they just seem like a cool good group of kids.
spk_0 They're doing the right thing and they're all making tons of bank.
spk_0 I mean, their parents are going to have to worry about much nowadays.
spk_0 Super sperm from super sperm from Mr.
spk_0
spk_0 And by the way, like you can just tell the kids are raised right.
spk_0 Great kids.
spk_0 Creed sperm.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Hey, that's some powerful sperm.
spk_0 There are some expensive powerful sperm.
spk_0 Swishy.
spk_0 Yeah, he must have been when he was laying the wood during those three to five years,
spk_0 he must have been off the whiskey, you know, just elite sperm.
spk_0 That's like 90, that's 93 premium.
spk_0 That's not even 87 unleaded.
spk_0 No, that's coming at you.
spk_0 That's coming at you.
spk_0 That's coming at you.
spk_0 We got another deal that was a little bit of an eye open this morning for me.
spk_0 And this is no disrespect.
spk_0 I know this kid Jackson McComb back up the brings truck right here to Orange County.
spk_0 Buddy, like I said, if you need a realtor, Mac Miller can help you out.
spk_0 Eight years, nine bananas a year, that is $72 million for Jackson McComb,
spk_0 who last year had, but good year last year, 43 points.
spk_0 14 goals.
spk_0 The year before that, he had 17 points.
spk_0 That's insane.
spk_0 $9 million.
spk_0 Wild.
spk_0 Highest contracted ducts history.
spk_0 Yeah, no, I would say that, you know, Luke Hughes, you go off what his other brothers have done.
spk_0 And then the hope that this kid is just, he's bigger and he can skate like him both.
spk_0 So you have like a little thing to judge him on.
spk_0 This is nuts.
spk_0 He's put a hundred and 48 games, boys, and then an ash to hockey league.
spk_0 Yeah, I mean, and no one's ever accused him of being the best looking cat at the team, right?
spk_0 And since in terms of, you know, that's, so at least he's getting paid handsomely.
spk_0 The thing with him is 14 goals last year.
spk_0 I mean, that's, that's a solid number in your second year in terms of a sophomore campaign.
spk_0 He's a really good skater, a product of the University of Minnesota.
spk_0 He was a second round pick.
spk_0 I think he'll probably be a lock for not this Olympics, but probably 2030.
spk_0 Oh, I mean, this kid's, he's a hell of a player, but like I said, I mean,
spk_0 and like you guys said, 148 games in the league is first year, only 17 points,
spk_0 a breakout season this past year.
spk_0 Well, so he does this here, but it's just like here you go and, you know, pass go,
spk_0 collect your 72 and go try, right?
spk_0 Yeah, yeah.
spk_0 And listen, I've said it before and the ducks are on my, you know, most interested teams to see how it
spk_0 on place.
spk_0 Like I think they have a decent group up front.
spk_0 I really do.
spk_0 Like look at their third line of strong, vitrano killer.
spk_0 Three good dudes, Stanley Cup winner in killer.
spk_0 Guys that play hard every night play the right way.
spk_0 That's a good third line.
spk_0 Cargo, Shay Mason, McTavage, Grandland, who they brought in, cry her Carlson, Troy Terry.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Like that's not a bad top nine, but then you go down here and like my question is,
spk_0 is like Jackson McCollum on any other fucking team?
spk_0 Well, what is a four three or a half?
spk_0 You're going to have the ISO cam on him now.
spk_0 Now I am for sure.
spk_0 Now I am to just give him, to give him the keys to fucking Orange County, to me,
spk_0 just I don't, I don't get it.
spk_0 Like, well, why don't you just give him a three year deal at if you want to give him nine?
spk_0 Like I don't know.
spk_0 Time will tell and maybe he's going to prove me wrong.
spk_0 I just to have 150 games in the league and to be given an eight year contract for nine
spk_0 million, I'm sure he's a great kid and does all the right things.
spk_0 I still don't get that new NHL like, I don't know.
spk_0 It's just to me.
spk_0 It's like, wow.
spk_0 Well, I mean, the next year, the new CBA, I'm a speaker.
spk_0 I want to put my, yeah, eights back on try to get just a nickel of that.
spk_0 If you're, but if you're patver beak and you're the ducks, right?
spk_0 The eight year deal, this is the last year you can sign guys to an eight year deal.
spk_0 I believe it goes down to six or seven for the following year.
spk_0 Good.
spk_0 Well, the new CBA.
spk_0 So he's probably thinking, well, I can get this guy locked up.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Again, I'm going to have to take a little bit of a risk, you know, in the first
spk_0 couple of years of this deal.
spk_0 But if he pans out and he keeps going and improving and stays on this track to become
spk_0 the defenseman that he is, I mean, he scored 14 goals in his second year.
spk_0 Maybe he's a 20 goal guy.
spk_0 Now, that's a great value deal.
spk_0 So I don't know.
spk_0 I just think that's the way at the NHL, oh, since you take the risk up front and you
spk_0 just hope and it's, it becomes a really good bargain deal.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 And it's a great point by you on the eight years.
spk_0 It's going to, if you stay with your team seven, if you go to a new team, it's six.
spk_0 I would say for a kid like this, you, you take this deal, you run, right?
spk_0 I think Jackson, the column probably has a nice career.
spk_0 I don't think he's going to win a North trophy.
spk_0 I don't think he's going to be one of those guys.
spk_0 I just don't have, I do watch the ducks play a lot.
spk_0 He's younger.
spk_0 I get it.
spk_0 Right.
spk_0 But to guys that are like Kilmacar, Quinn Hughes, guys come up like that that are
spk_0 generational talents.
spk_0 Maybe be careful signing more than a, you know, like Matthew's done.
spk_0 Like you don't want to get locked into a deal and then all of a sudden you're
spk_0 looking around going Jackson, the Colmes make it.
spk_0 Like what do you think Kilmacar is thinking right today?
spk_0 Probably not what I'm thinking, but like Jackson, the Colmes make Jackson, the
spk_0 Colmes make it more than me.
spk_0 Like I'd be going my agent like, why the fuck did you do it?
spk_0 I'm just signing this deal.
spk_0 Jackson, the Colmes make it more than me.
spk_0 I'm Kilmacar.
spk_0 That's what I'd be called my agent today, Sam.
spk_0 Jerry Joe.
spk_0 Oh, yeah, yeah.
spk_0 No, the fuck did we sign this deal for?
spk_0 How many more years you got left?
spk_0 Two kills got two yikes.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 And he's going to get 20.
spk_0 If he wants 20, yeah, exactly.
spk_0 Jackson, the Colmes gets nine kill gets 20.
spk_0 Yesterday's price, Obi.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Unless it all seriousness, I'm just talking like an old bitter washed up, chunky
spk_0 defenseman.
spk_0 I'm happy for these kids boys.
spk_0 Get it while you can.
spk_0 But like Swishy said, it's a new NHL.
spk_0 They reward these kids.
spk_0 I guess it's, you know, a kudos to these kids of how disciplined they are.
spk_0 How dedicated they are because at how old is he?
spk_0 24.
spk_0 You give me 72 million dollars.
spk_0 And I'm 24 years old.
spk_0 Go, boy.
spk_0 I don't know.
spk_0 I don't know if it would have panned out.
spk_0 I scary.
spk_0 I don't know if it would have panned out for the I'm ducks organization.
spk_0 So, hey, good luck to all the boys.
spk_0 Make it while you can.
spk_0 We got Fred of the show all time.

spk_0 Welcome back to Mr. Curfew.
spk_0 Swishy friend of the show all around good guy.
spk_0 Guy we were lucky enough to get to know over the last couple of years and happy that he's
spk_0 back where he belongs.
spk_0 The head coach, the newest head coach is Chicago Black Cox.
spk_0 Jeff Blasho Blasho.
spk_0 Good to see you, my man.
spk_0 Happy for you and welcome back to where you belong, my man.
spk_0 I appreciate it will be a smolty good to see both of you guys.
spk_0 I think the last time I saw both of you guys together was in Vegas last year sometimes.
spk_0 So good to see you guys.
spk_0 Come to beyond.
spk_0 Yeah, we always love bumping into you guys.
spk_0 So Blasho was doing a little dig and getting ready to talk to you today and I found out I
spk_0 didn't know that you were a goalie back in the day.
spk_0 So I got to ask you what kind of goalie were you?
spk_0 Were you stand up?
spk_0 Did you come out and challenge how were you playing the puck?
spk_0 All that stuff.
spk_0 Let's start with a bad goalie.
spk_0 That's why I got to start in the coaching right away because I was a bad goalie.
spk_0 I was I was right at the end of the kick save error.
spk_0 Like I was literally like one of the last guys to still use the kicks late save.
spk_0 I love to put that puck in the up in the rafters on any shot.
spk_0 Played the puck.
spk_0 Actually, I remember I played at Ferris State's when at the time we were in the CCA and Michigan
spk_0 was in the league.
spk_0 And so we worked all week.
spk_0 I was going to start Friday night.
spk_0 We worked all week because I played the puck not bad.
spk_0 And it was before the deemment kind of reported the corner.
spk_0 So literally we worked the whole week on me going back, stopping it like giving it to
spk_0 one of the two deem and we get into game and I bet you I didn't last 10 minutes and I got pulled.
spk_0 Well, that's so much for that.
spk_0 Last you ended up.
spk_0 So you were a goalie there and then you coached at Ferris State.
spk_0 How many years total did you spend in big rapids if we're kind of just taking it back to those days?
spk_0 You had to be there for over a decade playing and coaching, right?
spk_0 It eight years eight years.
spk_0 Okay.
spk_0 I was there four years as a player and then four years as a coach.
spk_0 I actually might my wife now and actually we got married during that time.
spk_0 And we actually lived in Grand Rapids.
spk_0 I commuted up.
spk_0 But yeah, so eight straight years at Ferris and it was awesome.
spk_0 Actually, it was awesome.
spk_0 It was obviously really hard to leave.
spk_0 I almost I knew they were going to be really good the next year and it was actually.
spk_0 It's funny because Chris Cunitz is with us here in Chicago.
spk_0 It was Chris's senior year that they ended up having a great year.
spk_0 But I went to Miami from there, but it was eight good years.
spk_0 I was just going to ask you.
spk_0 I saw Chris Cunitz signed.
spk_0 I got Jack to that docs.
spk_0 Cuny had that big, Hobie Baker.
spk_0 Did he win it or was he runner up or up for the Hobie Baker, right?
spk_0 That year?
spk_0 Yeah, he did an unreal year that year, unreal year.
spk_0 On year and that was back before the side of the signing bonus cap.
spk_0 So they gave him a million bucks and he came in and I'm like,
spk_0 we're this guy play right?
spk_0 I'm from Ontario playing that's really like Ferris state.
spk_0 I'm like, and he's from Saskatchewan.
spk_0 I'm like, what the fuck?
spk_0 And he gets out there.
spk_0 He's hitting everything.
spk_0 He can shoot the puck.
spk_0 I'm like, this guy's a player.
spk_0 Yeah, yeah, honestly.
spk_0 Like the first day he showed up as a freshman.
spk_0 That would have been my, I think my first full time year as an assistant,
spk_0 I think or maybe my volunteer because I volunteered for you either way.
spk_0 When he showed up, like right away, I was like, oh, wow, this guy's different.
spk_0 Like he's just got, you know, you know, he had that edge.
spk_0 Do I remember standing like the face off the audit center ice
spk_0 and he would always chop someone's step with this.
spk_0 Oh, great.
spk_0 Like all that kind of is an edge, but he was now what a great career.
spk_0 Yeah, it's unreal.
spk_0 I think you want to even tell me actually when we were talking,
spk_0 we won four cups for me.
spk_0 I'm like, that unreal, unreal.
spk_0 I played out, played with great players.
spk_0 Awesome.
spk_0 Awesome.
spk_0 Just a great guy.
spk_0 Great to have around to be honest with you.
spk_0 He's going to be with us pretty much every day that we're around here.
spk_0 And you know, you just get that perspective from somebody that's been through all that.
spk_0 It's awesome to have one of my favorite teammates.
spk_0 We came up together in the American League and Cincinnati together.
spk_0 And I don't like Bob Hartley for many reasons, but the one when people asked me about Bob Hartley,
spk_0 I'm like, yeah, he told Chris Kuditz he could never play in the NHL either.
spk_0 So I was like, it wasn't just me that Bob, Bob missed on the radar.
spk_0 They're four cups later.
spk_0 So, Blasch, yeah, he's a great guy.
spk_0 I love Kuditz.
spk_0 They hide him for me.
spk_0 Blasch, I just want to ask you moving on here, buddy.
spk_0 Like, you know, you come to Detroit and you had a young group there and then doesn't work out
spk_0 for you.
spk_0 And you go back to being an assistant coach.
spk_0 And I've got to know you and I'm just curious like when you're a head coach and you got
spk_0 to go back to being assistant, maybe not use the work.
spk_0 Go back, but you get a different role.
spk_0 Is it kind of like being a player when maybe, I don't know if you get sent down or you
spk_0 get moved down the line up or what's it like when you've been in the top, you've been
spk_0 in the NHL coach and I'm like, okay, I got to go back and be an assistant and maybe
spk_0 recreate some stuff.
spk_0 Yeah, I mean, the first thing I'd say is when I got fired in Detroit, you know, it was
spk_0 up through seven years.
spk_0 And honestly, it was great, but it was seven hard years.
spk_0 Like, you know, we're coaching through a rebuild there.
spk_0 Anybody that's been through a rebuild knows it's hard.
spk_0 And so, you know, trying to find answers, trying to find some way to help our group get
spk_0 better.
spk_0 And so at that time, to be honest with you, it'll be like, I wanted a job right away.
spk_0 And, Cooper, I had talked.
spk_0 I knew it was probably going to be available to the assistant job, but I was interviewing
spk_0 for a couple of head jobs.
spk_0 And I wanted a head job right away.
spk_0 That's kind of the competitiveness in you.
spk_0 But the best thing that ever happened to me was that I was able to spend those three
spk_0 years in Tampa.
spk_0 And it's, you know, one, you get to kind of take a breath and kind of regroup.
spk_0 But two, you get just the chance to learn, man.
spk_0 And, you know, I've known Cooper for, I don't know, 25 years probably, but never had a chance
spk_0 to really work on the same staff for them besides when we were really young.
spk_0 And we worked on some USA hockey stuff together.
spk_0 You know, we worked on this.
spk_0 So, so being able to kind of see how he runs, you know, the program there in Tampa, see
spk_0 how Julian breeze, but that's obviously they've been one of the best in the league.
spk_0 And then Jeff Helper and Rob's that their Brian Garlock Nigel Kerwin, the whole crew down
spk_0 there, Franz John was awesome.
spk_0 Just an awesome coaching staff to learn from a great group of players to learn from.
spk_0 You get a chance to coach.
spk_0 You know, he's got many coach great players you learn a ton, right?
spk_0 So, stammer and Nikita Kuttschoff and headman and Vast Leski, all those guys.
spk_0 So, it was just a great chance to kind of reflect a little bit and say, okay, what did we
spk_0 do in Detroit that was good?
spk_0 But maybe we just weren't quite good enough for it to work.
spk_0 What did we do in Detroit that we that that Tampa does better, you know, and kind of kind
spk_0 of, as all that kind of formulated, to be honest with you, I come to Chicago and now I
spk_0 don't have to, you know, I know what works, man.
spk_0 And I know what it's going to take for us to get to the top.
spk_0 Doesn't mean we're going to get there, but I know I know the formula and it's a good feeling
spk_0 and a confident feeling, you know, having that type of those types of experiences.
spk_0 Yeah, definitely.
spk_0 I mean, whether it's coaching and you have some sort of failure or it's a relationship
spk_0 and your girlfriend dumps you, I think it just gives you a different perspective on life
spk_0 and different, a different way to look at it and ultimately go back to the drawing board
spk_0 and kind of find what worked like you said, Blash, and what doesn't.
spk_0 But I'm going to go off the board here.
spk_0 I was doing a pre-scode on you today, right?
spk_0 So I'm talking to guys, I'm talking to Cooper.
spk_0 You know, I'm not going to give all my sources, but there was one question that I wanted
spk_0 to ask you and it was brought to my attention.
spk_0 What does going for a walk be?
spk_0 That's a good question.
spk_0 That's a good question.
spk_0 It's my friend who I just spoke to last night, Rob Zettler.
spk_0 So basically when we get when we get in on the road and our work was done, we usually meet
spk_0 for a little bit.
spk_0 As a group, we generally went to dinner.
spk_0 But the free dinner was usually me and Rob going for a walk and probably finding our way
spk_0 to some bar stool somewhere and having a couple of free dinner drinks.
spk_0 And so I'm a little worried for Rob to be honest with you, just the fact that he's
spk_0 going to be missing his buddy this year a little bit.
spk_0 Someone's Jeff Helper is going to have to step in that role maybe, but honestly, forget
spk_0 about how much you learned.
spk_0 I like life experiences.
spk_0 Man, what a great, great, great people.
spk_0 I had so much fun.
spk_0 I'll definitely miss those guys.
spk_0 Blash, you kind of teed me up.
spk_0 We were lucky enough to get to know you guys.
spk_0 And anytime you're in Anaheim or if we came to Vegas, we'd have dinner and we filled
spk_0 part of the coaching staff.
spk_0 But I guess where I'm going with this is, I know it's not easy.
spk_0 We've all put on teams where certain teams are closer than others, but now being the head
spk_0 coach of the Chicago Black Caucks, is that something you're going to try to bring to
spk_0 your core coaching staff and your organization because the way you guys were as a coaching
spk_0 staff, it bleeds into your team.
spk_0 Obviously, they've won cups there, but I just, I think it's important for you guys and
spk_0 what you've learned, Blash, to bring that to Chicago.
spk_0 Yeah, no, no.
spk_0 The camaraderie matters, man.
spk_0 It camaraderie matters.
spk_0 It matters in your group with your team.
spk_0 It matters with your coaching staff.
spk_0 And I think your right will be like, I think the players, I think, see it.
spk_0 You know, they see when coaches are care for each other, when they like being around
spk_0 each other.
spk_0 I just think all that stuff, kind of like you said, bleeds right into the team.
spk_0 And, you know, I've been, I was lucky here.
spk_0 I've been, it's been really, really fun to be with this group.
spk_0 You know, Anders Sornsden was here as the Interim Coach last year, but I've known
spk_0 Anders for 15 plus years.
spk_0 Great, great human being.
spk_0 Mike Valuciani, I live in the same town in the summers and Plymouth, Michigan.
spk_0 Yeah, I've known Michael Longtime and then Michael Peca, worked for my best friend,
spk_0 Seth Apern, Rochester, me first got into coaching coming out of play in Pro.
spk_0 As well as the group that was already here with our video coaches and skills coaching,
spk_0 go, go, go.
spk_0 So what I guess I'm getting to, we got together the week of the 18 through the 21st and
spk_0 we had a blast.
spk_0 You know, we went to a Cubs game together.
spk_0 They mocked me for my opening pitch.
spk_0 We played one up together.
spk_0 We had a blast and in right away I was like, man, this is going to be a fun group.
spk_0 I'd like to short got to have fun with your group.
spk_0 We spent too much time.
spk_0 Sometimes we get, you know, we get too serious about stuff like you still got to have fun
spk_0 and enjoy it.
spk_0 It makes the grind so much better.
spk_0 Yeah, Blash, I wanted to ask you definitely about Anders Sornsden, he's the guy that
spk_0 coach we, but first off, some of the fellows were wondering after that first pitch, now
spk_0 throwing out a first pitch is a bucket list item for me.
spk_0 I'm a Chicago Cubs fan myself.
spk_0 So being at a rigley, that had to be unbelievable.
spk_0 But a lot of guys are asking, they might be thinking, are you left-handed?
spk_0 Are you?
spk_0 I like that.
spk_0 You know, when I grew, I actually played baseball growing up and I am pretty good range and
spk_0 they always were looking at short and man, if I didn't hit that van that was behind first
spk_0 base all the time, like I always miss going hit that.
spk_0 There was always a van back then.
spk_0 You know what I mean?
spk_0 It's not.
spk_0 It's a good wagon.
spk_0 Yeah, exactly.
spk_0 No, then they had always played me a second.
spk_0 So we're going, so I've thrown the first pitch a few times, an unbelievable environment
spk_0 being at a rigley, right?
spk_0 So I go in and I do a little TV before, well I'm out there for like 25 minutes on the field,
spk_0 they iced me.
spk_0 Yeah, they iced me.
spk_0 And how is like, I'm not going on the mound.
spk_0 And there was two younger girls that went ahead of me.
spk_0 One one I think is the number one pickable player in the world, I think.
spk_0 Anyways, they both went right to the mound and I'm like, oh my God, I got him.
spk_0 Yeah, I have to go to the mound.
spk_0 And the last piece of advice was like, was like, big sheets, throw it a little higher.
spk_0 And so all I was care, I didn't care if that day, if that dick went way up in there,
spk_0 I just didn't want to hit the ground.
spk_0 Didn't want to bounce it.
spk_0 Blash, I got kind of the same story.
spk_0 My boy Chapman was playing for the JZ.
spk_0 He's like, hey, it's Chapman, Jersey, that you want to throw out the first pitch.
spk_0 I'm like, sure, it was an afternoon game.
spk_0 Stay down a little too late, a blast.
spk_0 And make me get there like fucking hour and a half before the game.
spk_0 I get to the park, I'm waiting around.
spk_0 I'm not throwing any balls.
spk_0 I'm like, man, I'm stiff.
spk_0 I'm kind of like, I'm like, I'm worried here.
spk_0 And she's like, you're not allowed to go to the mound.
spk_0 I'm like, don't worry, I'm not going to the mound.
spk_0 So I just went to the start of it and blast this thing.
spk_0 I mean, that bounce buddy, Chapman had to get her like that.
spk_0 So I know what you're feeling.
spk_0 And you're just standing around there icing.
spk_0 You're like, let's get this going.
spk_0 And then I walked, I walked on the mound and they did, they introduced me.
spk_0 And honestly, it couldn't just been what had coached the blockcups.
spk_0 They did my whole resume.
spk_0 Like everything from USA hockey to like Paul, it was, I was out there like
spk_0 camera. I was like, oh my gosh.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Okay.
spk_0 That's unbelievable.
spk_0 Blasch, I wanted to ask you obviously, you know, you're going to stay in touch with
spk_0 Coop, but like I've become friends with Rick Talkett and I play with Travis
spk_0 Green and a lot of those coaches talk to each other and pick each other
spk_0 brains and bounce ideas off of him.
spk_0 Is there other coaches if it's USA hockey or
spk_0 guys you've been through through fair state or other guys that you bounce ideas
spk_0 off of and try to pick their brains as it goes along?
spk_0 You're sure.
spk_0 And I think, you know, that the positive for me is, is, is I'm, I'm in the, I'm in the
spk_0 West now.
spk_0 And so it's easier to talk to probably guys that you're not playing every night.
spk_0 You know, like I said, it's one of my really, really,
spk_0 one of my best friends has set that.
spk_0 But he's an assistant coach in Buffalo and we've been in the same division,
spk_0 kind of spiting from the same playoffs.
spk_0 But when I was in Tampa, so him and I, it's an easier chance for him and I had
spk_0 a chat and kind of exchange ideas.
spk_0 Travis is a guy.
spk_0 Travis Green, you mentioned.
spk_0 He's somebody, you know, we kind of came up together.
spk_0 Now we played against each other in the American league.
spk_0 I think that the semifinals, the finals of our conference.
spk_0 And that was the first time I really had to know Travis.
spk_0 But then we started kind of connecting over the years and picking each other's brain.
spk_0 And so he's somebody that I like to call and chat with and, and, and, you know,
spk_0 just whatever good ideas and how things are going.
spk_0 You know, John Heinz and Minnesota and I've worked together on a US team.
spk_0 He's somebody that I know fairly well.
spk_0 So you just, you know, and then the guys in Tampa for sure.
spk_0 But you want to listen, what were their unique positions, you know,
spk_0 when you're head coach in the NHL, there's not, you know, a lot of people that you
spk_0 that have been sat in that seat and sort of, you know, talk to people that are either
spk_0 currently sitting in the seat or have sat in the seat.
spk_0 There's always, I think, good to get advice in those guys.
spk_0 Yeah, for sure, Blasch.
spk_0 And I wanted to ask you, you had mentioned Anders Sornson out.
spk_0 This is a guy that I play youth hockey for all the way growing up with the Chicago
spk_0 mission. He coached the likes of my brother, William D. Lander, Christian Vorek and
spk_0 he's just a mind that was somehow at that time, especially very fashion forward.
spk_0 He was always preaching puck possession, different things making little plays.
spk_0 I just think he's a, he's such a valuable asset to a coaching staff, especially at that level,
spk_0 especially this new age NHL.
spk_0 Can you just touch on him a little bit?
spk_0 You said you've known him for a long time, but I just think that guy is,
spk_0 is one of those guys that is so valuable to a coaching staff in terms of just the everyday,
spk_0 even the on-ice skill stuff he can bring in different avenues to go with his coaching.
spk_0 Yeah, no, he's excellent.
spk_0 He really is. And he's calm.
spk_0 Like a lot of Swedes are, he's very calm, very, very smart.
spk_0 As a, everybody's firm, you know, as a good way about him,
spk_0 believes in what he believes in, but it's open to list, you know, discussing different ideas.
spk_0 He's got a lot of experience in coaching.
spk_0 Like you talked about, not just the skill instruction, but kind of developing drills that
spk_0 then can apply to games, any connects with their guys, you know, and I think to a guy,
spk_0 you know, anybody that had him, both, you know, there was a short stand obviously in Chicago,
spk_0 but both these guys have had him in Rockford.
spk_0 I think all of them know that one, he's a great person that cares about their success.
spk_0 And I think ultimately the best coaches are guys who the players know care about their success.
spk_0 And, you know, it doesn't mean they're not hard on them, whatever.
spk_0 And I think that's what Anders is.
spk_0 And I think the players know that.
spk_0 And because of that, I think they, they, they play for him.
spk_0 And, you know, you can speak to that as well as anybody.
spk_0 And I also think, you know, we bring tons of the table for our coaches to have in those ways, I said.
spk_0 Blasphere, talking before we had you on, and, and listen, I took many of Minuses in the old
spk_0 Madhouse on Madison, right, with Tio Cain and Taves and the boys flying around, Duncan Keith doing his thing.
spk_0 The NHL is better when the Chicago Blackhawks are better.
spk_0 And I think like you said, you know how to do it.
spk_0 You are going to do it.
spk_0 But is your message to your players right now, like such a great city?
spk_0 What a great fan base like to, like how lucky they are to be a Chicago Blackhawk.
spk_0 And let's turn this thing around and head the right.
spk_0 It's going to take some time.
spk_0 We all know that, but how special the place and being a Chicago Blackhawk.
spk_0 I think it's, it's not.
spk_0 And we actually, you know, we had our opening meeting.
spk_0 And today, obviously, it was first in the ice, but we had our opening meeting prior to that.
spk_0 And, and, you know, that's one of the things we talked about.
spk_0 Like, this is a premier organization, really in sports.
spk_0 It's one of the, one of the premier organizations in sports.
spk_0 It's, it's as good a, it's as good of a sports town as there is.
spk_0 The fans are, are, you know, as you guys know, I mean, they're, they're,
spk_0 in, into it, in every sport.
spk_0 And so, when, when the Blackhawks are great, it's a pretty, it's an extraordinarily special place.
spk_0 And I know it's been some tough years going through a rebuild.
spk_0 I get it. I've lived it. I know what those are like.
spk_0 But let's not forget what a special place this is.
spk_0 Special place to live, special place to play.
spk_0 Great ownership. And so, you know, I think as, as this, as this group can start to build,
spk_0 they'll, they'll really start to feel that.
spk_0 But it's something we're trying to get, certainly get across through our guys.
spk_0 What a great, great, what, what fortunate we are, really.
spk_0 Yeah. And, yeah, and,
spk_0 I switched to you before I turned over to you, sorry, my bad.
spk_0 But the anthem, two A-blash, like anytime I would go in there and play in that anthem,
spk_0 when he points out the flag, I'm like, don't take a penalty.
spk_0 Don't take a penalty like, keep your stick down.
spk_0 But that anthem alone, man, it gets you like, if you can't get fired up for that,
spk_0 right? You're playing, playing the wrong sport.
spk_0 100%. I mean, it's, it's actually unbelievable.
spk_0 He, he just sang at the, I was at the Bears open here against the Vikings on Monday night.
spk_0 And, uh, sweet, he did the anthem here as well.
spk_0 And, man, was it, it was unbelievable.
spk_0 It's just the, it was a great reminder for me for how, how cool it is.
spk_0 And, you know, obviously, I've been in the yeast now for a long time.
spk_0 And so we've only seen it twice, you know, once a year.
spk_0 It'll be awesome to see it on a nightly basis.
spk_0 And, and, you know, in time, when, when we can get this thing going, where,
spk_0 where there's a, there's a huge level of excitement.
spk_0 It's, it's that much better.
spk_0 Jimmy C's got an absolute set of pipes.
spk_0 I'll see how it's, oh my gosh, holy fack.
spk_0 But,
spk_0 well, I wanted to ask you like, I just think the, the best teams, the best organizations,
spk_0 whether it's at the collegiate level or it's at the NHL level, they always have the alumni
spk_0 involved in a sense of the guys that have come before you and the guys, especially that have won.
spk_0 And in St. Louis, I got a little bit of taste of that with a lot of, you know,
spk_0 household names being around a lot of the times.
spk_0 And I think that's very important.
spk_0 I'm sure you saw it in your early days of Detroit, which is all the legends around.
spk_0 Is that something that you want to kind of bring back to Chicago?
spk_0 I'm not saying it's been lost over the years, but just having those guys like the Chris
spk_0 Chalios' the dunking kiefs around.
spk_0 I just think that it was such a long ways for the younger players to just be around those guys
spk_0 and just to just even feel the tradition and, and the success those guys had in that town.
spk_0 Yeah, I knew this.
spk_0 I think it's, it's, it's, um, critically important.
spk_0 Like, I just think it's such a part of your history.
spk_0 And, and, you know, I, I, I got a chance.
spk_0 I came back for a cellese when is Jersey ceremony.
spk_0 And so I got a chance to meet Keith and Seabrook and some of those guys.
spk_0 So I really didn't know prior on what grade, great guys, man, what grade guys.
spk_0 And so, you know, embracing that error of winners, I think is important.
spk_0 But even all those prior to that, you know, I put him at golf outing,
spk_0 beginning of August here where a lot of a number of guys were back.
spk_0 It's not Jeremy Ronik's outing, but he's a big piece of it.
spk_0 And a number of guys were back.
spk_0 And so I got to meet a number of guys.
spk_0 And, you know, I thought it was awesome.
spk_0 And, and so just the, the, the trying to get it in or woven between the alums and the current
spk_0 team, I think, some important.
spk_0 The cellese got a golf outing coming up here.
spk_0 A few of us are going to go out there for dinner.
spk_0 We can't plan it because of the timing of it.
spk_0 But we'll go out there for dinner and, and make sure that, you know, our guys
spk_0 know that how important those relationships are.
spk_0 And ultimately, you know, I talked about it being such a special organization.
spk_0 Well, it's a special organization because of those that have come before.
spk_0 That's why it's a special organization.
spk_0 So we got to make sure we remember that.
spk_0 Speaking of Chelly, I was back on the lake in Toronto.
spk_0 I was coming off the lake with a pretty nice tan.
spk_0 I get to Pearson Airport.
spk_0 And I look at them like, look at the tan on this guy.
spk_0 How does this guy, I keep walking?
spk_0 Like, fuck, that's Chelly.
spk_0 You shouldn't have seen the tan on this guy, boys.
spk_0 It was, it was next level.
spk_0 I know he always has a good one, but I was like, where the fuck is he been?
spk_0 It was just, he was sparkling at the airport.
spk_0 I'm like, look at that.
spk_0 Like he buttered it up a little bit.
spk_0 So he's always looking good.
spk_0 Hey, Blash.
spk_0 All right. He's always looking good.
spk_0 I was just with him the other night.
spk_0 He's, uh, that tan hasn't gone away.
spk_0 I can tell you that.
spk_0 Blash, listen, buddy, you got, you got a young core.
spk_0 Obviously, we all know that, but, but I love your captain.
spk_0 I love Nick Fulino.
spk_0 I take him on my team any day of the week.
spk_0 He drags guys into the fights.
spk_0 He competes every night.
spk_0 Uh, how much have you been communicating with him already?
spk_0 How much are you going to lean on him?
spk_0 Because you got some veteran guys, but it's not like last year.
spk_0 Really brought a bunch of veteran guys in.
spk_0 You got to kind of a younger core.
spk_0 Like how important is Nick going to be for getting your message?
spk_0 I guess across these young boys.
spk_0 He's been great.
spk_0 You know, I, I, I didn't really know him prior to, to me, getting the job.
spk_0 Uh, uh, I think I had met him one other time.
spk_0 But so him and I talked a lot through the course of the summer.
spk_0 Um, either just chat it or talked about specific stuff.
spk_0 And, um, the, the thing I would say about Nick that stands out is how much he cares.
spk_0 Yeah, he cares a ton.
spk_0 He cares about the guys in the locker room.
spk_0 He cares about the success of the team and the success of the franchise.
spk_0 Um, and he wants to get to better days, you know, and, and obviously he's been through
spk_0 some, some tough years here and wants to help lead this program to better days.
spk_0 And so, um, he's been great.
spk_0 He's been great.
spk_0 He's been around the league.
spk_0 He, he, he comes from a, uh, uh, a place of, of understanding of, of, of the,
spk_0 the work it takes to win the work.
spk_0 You know, the compete that you have to have on a nightly basis.
spk_0 And so, um, you know, you kind of couple him with Connor Murphy and Jason Dickinson.
spk_0 Another couple of guys that have been around a long time.
spk_0 Um, you know, it's just a really good, I think, uh, good group of leaders to help our young guys,
spk_0 uh, kind of make their way.
spk_0 Last, it's the last year of fitness testing.
spk_0 And I know you're coming in.
spk_0 You want to change the culture.
spk_0 You want to put your stamp on things.
spk_0 So was there anything fully knowing that it was the last year of fitness testing?
spk_0 You put into training camp just to kind of, you know, just to say, boys, we're here now.
spk_0 It's a little skating test or a bar.
spk_0 Um, just anything you did that way.
spk_0 I, uh, I, I, I, I told the Tyler Bertuzzi.
spk_0 I was going to put the skate test in that we'd done previously.
spk_0 He was like, oh, this is the last year.
spk_0 Lash this about, well, it's pretty, it was pretty funny.
spk_0 Where we, we do a skate test that's, uh, uh, it's, it's a, it's a skate test.
spk_0 That's a little bit of a bag skate.
spk_0 It's more of a kind of a mirror to make sure guys know that, that, that it's training camp.
spk_0 And, and, you know, you have to have had the good summer.
spk_0 We do, we do some testing off the ice too that, you know, most of the teams do.
spk_0 And, and so whatever, you know, a year from now, we won't be able to do some of that.
spk_0 But, you know, we can still make sure they're in good shape.
spk_0 There's, there's lots of ways to do that.
spk_0 And they are.
spk_0 To be honest with you, that's, uh, you know, the guy is, you know, it is now, man.
spk_0 Guys come in and such great shape.
spk_0 Uh, but I do think there's just a kind of, uh, a moment, you know,
spk_0 you need some of those moments in training camp that say to, say to your team and the team
spk_0 says to themselves, man, this is, we're working, you know, and so we'll have some of those
spk_0 for sure.
spk_0 Yeah, that is a credit to the players because listen, all of us, you, you got to get
spk_0 in camp, you got to become the camp in shape because you don't want to look bad, right?
spk_0 You don't want to get embarrassed out there.
spk_0 But like, if there wasn't fitness testing back in our day, you know, maybe I would have
spk_0 taken instead of doing the extra bike ride, ah, maybe I'll go play golf with the boys.
spk_0 Like, it's a credit to the players now.
spk_0 Blash that the ownership, general managers, coaches are like, you know what, we will give
spk_0 you guys this because we know these boys are coming in right in rock, opposed to maybe
spk_0 10 or 15 years ago.
spk_0 The culture and that is changed just in a sense, I'll understand the ice.
spk_0 Like they're on the, you know, like I live in Plymouth, Michigan.
spk_0 So like the lot of guys skate out of USA arena, they're on the ice, whatever, a week after
spk_0 seasons are over, you know, so they're on the ice all summer.
spk_0 So, um, yeah, listen, they, they come in there in great shape.
spk_0 They're in great shape, actually.
spk_0 Like our practice today was hard and, and, you know, I think if they weren't in great
spk_0 shape, if they weren't ready to stop and start, you know, you'd see a bunch of pulled
spk_0 grind stuff like that, they're not.
spk_0 So that's, and that's across the league.
spk_0 That's not, I don't think just, you know, just unique to hear.
spk_0 It's, it's just the way it's changed over the years for sure because it's way, way different
spk_0 than when I, you know, I think my first year in the NHL was 11, 12 as an assistant.
spk_0 It's way different than that, you know, like, like not that the guys didn't work out
spk_0 about how you came into camp and what you did in the summers, I guess, right?
spk_0 It'll be, that would be like, it would be the biggest difference.
spk_0 Like the summers are way different.
spk_0 Wait, Nathan, I would get on the ice August 1st because I was already worried about my
spk_0 weight. I'm like, I got to get on the ice getter going.
spk_0 Salani would show up maybe like August 15th and then get to you would show up maybe
spk_0 the 20th or whatever.
spk_0 Like, and that gave them three weeks before camp together going right.
spk_0 We didn't start till a little bit later there, but nowadays, like you said, Blast,
spk_0 these kids are on the ice.
spk_0 They don't take any time off, which to me is, is a little bit crazy.
spk_0 But I guess that's why they're, they can't get out of shape.
spk_0 I guess if you don't stop skating.
spk_0 Yeah, yeah, yeah.
spk_0 Appreciate it.
spk_0 Blast, I want to ask you, obviously you got a young superstar in Conor Birdard.
spk_0 I've been tough on him over the years in this podcast.
spk_0 He's a young kid.
spk_0 Yeah, lots of pressure coming into him.
spk_0 I guess what I'm going with this is after being with a guy like Kutcher off for the last
spk_0 couple of years, like, can you use stuff that you saw with Kutcher to help him?
spk_0 Or is it just completely different Conor Birdard?
spk_0 It's a completely different guy.
spk_0 He's got to find out how to play at his level, I guess.
spk_0 Well, I think certainly the experiences of coaching great players, you know, I think
spk_0 helps you as a coach.
spk_0 So like, you know, I talked about it earlier, Kutcher and in Stamcoast, you know, I up
spk_0 front for sure and pointer and those guys that weren't Tampa, you know, coach and Zeta
spk_0 Berg and Datsuke in Detroit.
spk_0 Like, I think all those experiences, I think help you as you try to, you know, as you
spk_0 help coach these young guys like a Conor Birdard, who's a young, great, great player.
spk_0 And he's a, he's, he's honestly, haven't been around him, haven't watched his game way
spk_0 closer now.
spk_0 He's got great, great, great ability.
spk_0 Like, when he's got the puck on his stick from the blue line in his, it is the lead,
spk_0 he lead both as a passer, as a shooter.
spk_0 So, you know, as there is, he's got to get better out for sure.
spk_0 But I can tell you, you know, the conversations I've had with him, I think have been awesome.
spk_0 I think he's been really self reflective and kind of recognizing things that he needs
spk_0 to improve that and will work to.
spk_0 And I think honestly, though, those are normal things.
spk_0 They're normal things that most 18 and 19 year olds have for true, but he did it in the
spk_0 spotlight that none of us have ever had to do it in, right?
spk_0 Like, it's almost not fair.
spk_0 So, so I mean, his spotlight was, you know, as shown as bright as they come.
spk_0 So, but he's been awesome, actually.
spk_0 He's been, he's been a really, really good guy to get to know.
spk_0 And I think his mind is, his, his, his heads in a really good spot.
spk_0 You know, he's asked me about coach, like he, like probably a lot of players in the league,
spk_0 they always ask, you know, I was at a concert last year in, in Detroit.
spk_0 And Quinn Hughes was asking me about coach, like people want to know what coach does
spk_0 because coach is such a special player.
spk_0 And is there similarities?
spk_0 There's some, you know, that will be able to, they coach did this and maybe that'll help you,
spk_0 Connor. But then they're also very different.
spk_0 And obviously, coach is at a level that is, is as high as anybody in the league.
spk_0 And so, certainly, you know, Connor hopes to get to that level someday.
spk_0 You know, and so I'll certainly pass on any of those lessons that, that I've seen.
spk_0 But I do like the spot conners in.
spk_0 I'm, I'm excited about where he's up.
spk_0 Blash, you guys took a defenseman second overall in 2024.
spk_0 Artem Levchenoff.
spk_0 And now he spent 52 games last year in Rockford, got a cup of Joe in the Chicago.
spk_0 And, you know, it is, it's, it's still, I assume probably at 19 years old,
spk_0 still trying to find his stride, especially the national hockey league level.
spk_0 Is this a kid that you look at that's going to obviously come in and, and challenge for a spot,
spk_0 make the team out of campers that his play going to dictate eventually where he's at and where he stacks up?
spk_0 I think his plays are always going to be, that's always going to be part of his play is going to dictate.
spk_0 I think we have to make the decision, you know, what's best for, you know, his personal development.
spk_0 Number one, and then, and then what's best for our team?
spk_0 Like those kind of two things go, you know, hand in hand a little bit.
spk_0 Art, he's had a really good summer.
spk_0 You know, I got the chance to watch already played last weekend in the prospects game that he played up in Minnesota.
spk_0 I thought he did a good job.
spk_0 Yeah, I think he recognizes the things like probably a lot of guys that have been offensive defenseman.
spk_0 And we see he played forward up until I think age, maybe 16 or maybe maybe 14.
spk_0 So like he's still learning that offense side of it, I think.
spk_0 And but what I like about where he's his heads and how does he knows he has to get better at those areas.
spk_0 And so, you know, if you know, and he's got a really, really strong body, he's got like that man's strength.
spk_0 It's almost like it's farmer strength.
spk_0 Like he's really, really strong.
spk_0 If you have those, any, you can skate.
spk_0 If you have those attributes, you're going to become a good defender.
spk_0 We just got to help him get there.
spk_0 So I like where I already sat.
spk_0 You know, again, I thought I think his head's in the right spot in terms of the things he needs to get better at.
spk_0 And now we just got to go help him get better at those things.
spk_0 Blash, couple more for me.
spk_0 I appreciate you taking the time.
spk_0 Listen, I was a young demon in the league and I made a fucking ton of mistakes.
spk_0 And I had John Torrella who was patient with me at the start.
spk_0 And then was a little bit harder on me and then I went to Vancouver.
spk_0 But I guess where I'm going with this as a as a guy coming in a rebuild is one of the hardest things for you
spk_0 is being patient with your back end because it's hard to play in NHL.
spk_0 And it takes time to develop these guys.
spk_0 And I'm sure as a coach some days, you're like, fuck, you can't continue to make that pinch or this or that.
spk_0 But is that something you maybe learned in Detroit that you'll bring in here that you got to be patient with your young D core times?
spk_0 Yeah, and this is the youngest D core that I'll have coached for sure.
spk_0 Outside of Connor Murphy, I think Vlas is the next oldest.
spk_0 I mean, he's only, I think he's 24 maybe.
spk_0 So it's a young D core.
spk_0 But I will say though, they're young and talented.
spk_0 It's one thing to sity talented though.
spk_0 But they have for me transferable talent in a sense.
spk_0 Their packages are good.
spk_0 They're really, each guy is big, can skate.
spk_0 It has long range to them.
spk_0 They're not necessarily a defenseman that try to break it down one on one.
spk_0 They're more efficient.
spk_0 They move the puck like all those things are generally things that can transfer a little bit quicker.
spk_0 It's the guys I think that are really, really high risk.
spk_0 I reward offensively that that take even longer.
spk_0 But to your point, I've heard this said multiple coaches.
spk_0 Like, experience D just nowhere to stand.
spk_0 And there's truth to that, right?
spk_0 Like they just stand in both spots.
spk_0 And that takes experience.
spk_0 So honestly, I'm really curious to see.
spk_0 I'm curious to see how it goes.
spk_0 How quickly this young D core can get good.
spk_0 This young D core is going to be good.
spk_0 I know that for sure.
spk_0 I just don't know how quickly.
spk_0 And so hopefully they can learn.
spk_0 We can help them with these lessons.
spk_0 And they can learn these lessons quicker than longer.
spk_0 Yeah, Flash last one for me.
spk_0 And then, Svitchie's got one more for you.
spk_0 Spencer Knight, listen, a lot of teams around the league.
spk_0 Goldtending is a problem with lots of teams.
spk_0 I think you got a good one here.
spk_0 The way you played last year when he came in,
spk_0 the second half of the season or whatever it was.
spk_0 What have you seen out of him?
spk_0 And it's got to be nice to know that you may have your number one goal.
spk_0 You're already when you're coming into a new organization.
spk_0 Starting to rebuild.
spk_0 Yeah, it's funny.
spk_0 When that tree happened with the Knights in Seth Jones,
spk_0 I was obviously assistant to happen.
spk_0 And it was looking like we were going to play Florida in the first round.
spk_0 I was like, oh, man.
spk_0 Like I mean, I was disappointed at that time
spk_0 because Florida was getting a really good player in Seth Jones,
spk_0 who I've had a chance to coach in the world.
spk_0 So I knew, you know, whatever.
spk_0 Now I'm pumped.
spk_0 You know, now I'm pumped that trade was made.
spk_0 Because, you know, Spencer's a guy who I watched a good amount
spk_0 at the US program when he played for the national team development program
spk_0 when he was coming up.
spk_0 I mean, personally, I always felt he had a chance to be at a top flight going the league.
spk_0 You know, he's got to go out and prove it for sure.
spk_0 But I definitely think he has the attributes to be,
spk_0 you know, a top tier going the league.
spk_0 Now he's got to go get it done.
spk_0 So, but, you know, certainly feel like this.
spk_0 And you know how it goes in this league.
spk_0 You know, and we, and I think Sodor Bones got a chance to be a good goal.
spk_0 And like we actually have a number guys in the pipeline.
spk_0 Camus was a good goalie.
spk_0 Like, so we have guys in the pipeline that I think,
spk_0 you know, give us a chance to feel like we're going to have a real good goal
spk_0 goal tending here down the road.
spk_0 So, um, that it's a great feeling.
spk_0 You know, you'd rather have that than, uh,
spk_0 than, than feel like you don't have those types of people around.
spk_0 So, um, Spencer's like the rest of our team.
spk_0 We got to go prove it, but, but I'm a fan.
spk_0 Flash, you've been in the league a long time, brother.
spk_0 And I just wanted to give you and leave you with this here.
spk_0 So, the next time you're walking around the West Loop,
spk_0 you're probably living the suburbs.
spk_0 But the next time you're walking around the West Loop in Chicago,
spk_0 and you just happen to be going for a walk, as you'd say.
spk_0 You got to stumble into a Tervoli tavern if you've never been there yet.
spk_0 It's a great spot.
spk_0 No free ads, obviously, but it's just got an old school midwest tavern style.
spk_0 Feel to it.
spk_0 It's got good Italian food.
spk_0 So, next time you're just cruising down a brand-of street there, the West Loop.
spk_0 Don't be scared to poke your head in there, fella.
spk_0 I've already been in there once.
spk_0 We come.
spk_0 Yes.
spk_0 It's a great spot.
spk_0 Like, of course, it was like the first night,
spk_0 because I'm actually living in that area.
spk_0 So, oh, yes, in there once.
spk_0 Yes.
spk_0 Yeah, perfect.
spk_0 Yeah, that's where my sister lives right there in the list.
spk_0 This is a better.
spk_0 Every day he's a veteran.
spk_0 He knows.
spk_0 He knows.
spk_0 He knows.
spk_0 I mean, 15 years in the league, I figured he knew, but I'll just throw it out there.
spk_0 Hey, Blash, buddy.
spk_0 I appreciate you.
spk_0 It's been nice to get to know you, man.
spk_0 We're pulling for you here at Mr. Curfew.
spk_0 We're going to probably try a little fellow tour to Chicago.
spk_0 So, if we do, maybe we'll have a beer.
spk_0 But enjoy it, buddy.
spk_0 You're back where you belong and enjoy the NHL.
spk_0 My man, it's the best league in the world, as you know.
spk_0 All right, boys.
spk_0 Thanks.
spk_0 Look for it.
spk_0 If you come to Chicago, let me know if not I'll see you, man.
spk_0 Welcome back to Mr. Curfew, swishy.
spk_0 Thanks to Blash.
spk_0 You know, we've got to know Kooop over the last couple of years and
spk_0 got to know their coaching staff and, and, and, you know, Blash is a beauty.
spk_0 And honestly, what Kooop has built with that coaching staff?
spk_0 I hope Blash brings to Chicago.
spk_0 What sounds like he will go for a couple beers with your boys,
spk_0 dinners like it.
spk_0 It's important and I'm pulling for him.
spk_0 And like we said, the NHL is better when the madhouse is rocking.
spk_0 I think it took a lot of minuses in there.
spk_0 But when she's rocking, it's good for the league.
spk_0 Yeah, and it's just, I just love what he's about.
spk_0 You know what I mean?
spk_0 Like those guys, he's just talking about going for a walk,
spk_0 having a pop with the coaching staff before a nice dinner.
spk_0 Oh, he's what the game needs.
spk_0 And he's cut from the same cloth these guys of John Cooper, Derek Lelon,
spk_0 Jeff Blash, they're all kind of, you know,
spk_0 finding their ways and their respective areas of the game.
spk_0 But they're all living in Michigan at the time and they've all ended up being
spk_0 head coaches in the national hockey league.
spk_0 They're still all really good buddies.
spk_0 They've all coached with each other, not at the same time,
spk_0 but they've coached with each other.
spk_0 There's a lot of familiarity there.
spk_0 So they're like the disciples of, you know,
spk_0 this greater Michigan area of Grand Rapids
spk_0 or wherever they were living.
spk_0 East Lansing, where Koop was back in the day.
spk_0 So really cool to talk to him.
spk_0 And I hope he, you know, they do well.
spk_0 It's an original six team.
spk_0 It's a second crack at an original six team.
spk_0 So it's a pretty cool and just a good dude.
spk_0 Like you just shoot the shit with them all day.
spk_0 Yeah, and he loves the game.
spk_0 And I got to know him over the last couple of years,
spk_0 you know, seeing Koop and talk to him.
spk_0 He loves the game.
spk_0 And I could always tell you one to be a head coach again.
spk_0 So I'm happy for him.
spk_0 So Blash, thank you buddy.
spk_0 Good luck to the Hawks this year.
spk_0 Swiss, she always a pleasure with you buddy.
spk_0 D-Dee, hinge, hit the middle.
spk_0 You're the man.
spk_0 I appreciate you.
spk_0 Kyle Casey Conway wasn't here today,
spk_0 but Max, the ice pick, pick up.
spk_0 Pick it up the slack.
spk_0 That was Missing Curfew.
spk_0 Fala.
