Chapter 1 Adam and Eve were created. They were created in the image of God. They had everything
spk_0
they needed, but they were tempted by the serpent and fell from favor with God. God put a curse
spk_0
on the serpent, but he also made a promise. He promised that a child would come from Eve and save us.
spk_0
Chapter 2 Since then, it entered the world. Things went really bad. Man was so bad that God
spk_0
decided to take man out of the world. There was one family that trusted God and did what he said.
spk_0
He saved that family. God rescued Noah and his family on the ark. He wanted Noah to have a
spk_0
chance to be a new Adam. Unfortunately, Noah was too much like Adam, and he sent to.
spk_0
After a time, a bunch of people got together to build a large tower. When God saw the tower,
spk_0
he was not pleased. They thought they were smart and didn't need God. God mixed up all their
spk_0
languages and scattered them across the land. Chapter 3 Not long after the events of the tower,
spk_0
God called a man named Abram and made a promise with him. He promised Abram land and a son.
spk_0
He would be the father of a great nation, and all men would be blessed through his line.
spk_0
It took a long time for Abraham, also known as Abram, finally had his son Isaac.
spk_0
God told Abram to sacrifice Isaac and Abraham was prepared to sacrifice him, but at the last minute,
spk_0
God sent Abram, and Abraham didn't need to sacrifice his son. Isaac grew up and had twin sons.
spk_0
The younger son received the blessing. Jacob had 12 sons, and it was his fourth son who received
spk_0
the blessing. These were flawed people, yet God kept his promise and stayed with them.
spk_0
Chapter 4 Abraham's family made some bad choices that led them into 400 years of slavery.
spk_0
It is a long story, but Jacob's sons sold one of their brothers into slavery, and he ended up being
spk_0
powerful in Egypt. When a famine came, he was able to help his family. The family stayed in Egypt,
spk_0
but Pharaoh oppressed them. God sent plagues on the land to encourage Pharaoh to let his people go.
spk_0
It took a lot, but Pharaoh finally let them leave. Chapter 5 After being rescued, God gave his people
spk_0
commandments. These commandments were meant to protect them, and if they followed them, they would
spk_0
be blessed. It didn't take them long to start breaking these commandments. After Moses and
spk_0
Joshua died, they strayed often. There was a constant cycle of the Israelites disobeying God,
spk_0
God punishing them, and the Israelites repenting. God sent them judges, and even a king, but they
spk_0
still constantly strayed. Chapter 6 God warned them that a king was not needed. He gave them kings,
spk_0
but they were just men and flawed, just like them. King David was a good king when he wasn't
spk_0
sending, and God made a promise to him. He promised that he would always have a son to sit on the
spk_0
throne, and that it would be an everlasting kingdom. After David's son ruled the kingdom, split
spk_0
into. Neither kingdom was good, and God repeatedly punished them by using neighboring kingdoms.
spk_0
Over the next 400 years, the Israelites would go from being a powerful nation to a scattered nation.
spk_0
They had been removed from their land, just like Adam and Eve were removed from the garden.
spk_0
Chapter 7 God's promises did not go away. He had promised that a savior would come, and the
spk_0
Israelites were in the waiting stage. During this waiting time, God sent prophets to try and get
spk_0
his people back on the right path. They didn't listen though. If they did listen, it was temporary.
spk_0
Eventually, God stopped sending the prophets. He was silent for 400 years.
spk_0
Chapter 8 After this silence, we arrived in Bethlehem, where a baby was born. The baby was the
spk_0
promised savior. This boy would turn into the man that God used to rescue us from her sins.
spk_0
What everyone didn't understand is the chosen one of God was chosen to die for us.
spk_0
We may break our promises, but God never does. Jesus suffered for our sins so that we could enjoy
spk_0
his innocence. Chapter 9 Jesus may have died on the cross, but he didn't stay dead. God raised
spk_0
him on the third day. Many people saw him and even ate with him. 40 days after his resurrection,
spk_0
he descended into heaven and sat next to God. He had completed God's promise.
spk_0
The best gift was left behind. The Holy Spirit had been sent to earth.
spk_0
Chapter 10 This is a big story. Maybe even the biggest story, but it isn't over yet.
spk_0
We know the story isn't over yet because we haven't returned to the garden.
spk_0
We see glimpses of the garden, but not the whole thing. Jesus will return. When he returns,
spk_0
he will conquer all sin and rescue us from ourselves. We are asked to keep waiting, keep trusting,
spk_0
and know that the story is not over yet. Wow, the Bible is so full of information that is still
spk_0
relevant to us today. I hope you enjoyed this quick overview of the Bible. If you didn't get a
