spk_0 Welcome back to Buck I talk I'm Stephen means and that is Andrew Gillis and this is a Tuesday recruiting

spk_0 pod. It's been a while since we've done one of these in the season. It's a little difficult because it's

spk_0 so much going on and Ohio say the way they handle a lot of their recruiting. It's just not as I don't

spk_0 know, it's not the most important thing going on when they're trying to win a national championship.

spk_0 But recruiting does never stop. So when there's things that are happening we have to talk about those

spk_0 things and I guess off the top Andrew it's flip watch season right we've entered that portion of the

spk_0 year where kids took visits all June they made decisions in July and then two and a half months later they

spk_0 go I don't think I made the right decision for a lot of different reasons right it can be because maybe

spk_0 a better situation popped up sometimes you're negotiating and a better you know DO popped up

spk_0 somewhere else there's a million different reasons as to why literally both figuratively and literally

spk_0 and every other way it Italy that there is. It's flip watch season and Ohio says already lost one

spk_0 player over last couple of weeks here and that's Corbin Fordham who flipped to Florida state which I

spk_0 understand that his father played at Florida state so this is a kid who is essentially flipping

spk_0 to go home to some aspect. What's the impact of losing Corbin Fordham and Ohio says 2026 recruiting

spk_0 class and are there plans in place to potentially replace him? Yeah this isn't it this is an

spk_0 interesting one so like you mentioned Corbin Fordham he committed to Ohio state like a year ago.

spk_0 You know this was a pretty kind of cut and dry I think it was Thanksgiving this is the second year in a

spk_0 row that a commitment popped up randomly on Thanksgiving and a kid went you know what today's it the year

spk_0 before it was gave Van Cycle in 23 and 24 it was Corbin Fordham Corbin Fordham he took his OV to Ohio

spk_0 state on May 30th everything kind of felt locked in he leaves from the class now you have no tight ends

spk_0 and this is a very interesting conversation to talk about because like it depends on what you think of the

spk_0 room moving forward Wilkes Merrick is gone but Bennett Christian can return I don't think Max Claire is going to come back

spk_0 I know he has an extra year of eligibility but I don't think he's coming back for a 5th year of college football

spk_0 you know what like I understand you know hey this notion of you know what if we just paid Max Claire to return

spk_0 and what if we just found the money there and you know okay but if his goal is to boost his NFL

spk_0 draft stock what is fundamentally changing about his role I mean maybe he comes up in a blocker and maybe

spk_0 that's it but you have Christian you have Claire that can return Jolani will be back to

spk_0 Lennon that is Max the block he's on the roster still Brody Lennon will be going into a second year

spk_0 Nate Roberts is being used a lot you've got depth there and it kind of makes you wonder like do you need a

spk_0 tight end in 26 I would venture to guess that they would try there is a player by the name of Max Sutter

spk_0 he's one of the better tight ends in the class Ohio state has really been after him for a while

spk_0 he's the top 100 kid really really long he's committed to Alabama right now he took an OV to Ohio state

spk_0 on May 30th the same weekend as Fordham I think he was the only he was the only other tight end

spk_0 to take an OV this summer to Ohio state still we will have to see what happens with Sutter it seems

spk_0 as if Alabama is doing well there but against 65 to 30 like Ohio state likes his size the interesting

spk_0 concept to me about losing Fordham is what you do in 27 you go look at Ohio states 27 recruiting I mean

spk_0 they've got some options at tight end you know they they've got they've got some dudes out there

spk_0 where you look at and go you know what maybe that's a two tight end class especially with two

spk_0 and 25 maybe you're just okay with one you know one or none in 26 if you go back to two

spk_0 they love Brock Williams Brock Williams is the number one player on their tight end board you know Brady

spk_0 Edmunds has talked like I think he talked on this podcast about you know how much Brock Williams

spk_0 matters and and really trying to go get him and he mentioned he was over the summer when Brock

spk_0 Williams he was trying to get on campus with him when he camped they are really really trying

spk_0 to pull out all the stops to get Brock Williams he's a four star player out of out of Illinois

spk_0 and and they would really want him I think at least less I checked I mean he's kind of at that like

spk_0 quarter four five star in the composite rankings then there's the angel of white he attends

spk_0 Villanda St. Joseph up in Cleveland this is same school as both Jackson he's a top three hundred player

spk_0 number 285 in the rankings number 18 number 18 tight end he's a really really athletic player Ohio

spk_0 state really likes him I know he really likes Ohio state I mean I think no matter what I texted

spk_0 this out to our tech subscribers 614 through 5.0 through 315 I think white ends up in the class no

spk_0 matter what it's just you get somebody else to pair with him and that is where I think we have to you

spk_0 know we don't have to have this particular two hour conversation again about the math and how

spk_0 money changes things and you know paying guys to come and paying guys to stay and paying

spk_0 guys to blah blah blah blah just kind of going down the line how do you make the money work how

spk_0 do you make the math work either way I think white ends up in this class and it's just a matter

spk_0 of okay do you go get Brock Williams do you have another do you have both you have two Jordan

spk_0 carhoff he's a teammate of Ryan Day's son San Francisco Columbus go stallion says our

spk_0 native alum but Jordan carhoff is somebody that I think is an option as well like you could

spk_0 just kind of stick in state you know he's a really good player to four star player number 310

spk_0 overall they've got options in 27 but this is the unique one because of all the

spk_0 positions that are on this list that we're going to talk about this is the one where you go you

spk_0 know what maybe you don't need this guy or this position in 26 or at the very least it's

spk_0 not the end of the world if you don't land so Mark Sutter is not going to be a buck guy is that if I

spk_0 may if I said that into a microphone is somebody going to be able to clip it in a month and a half

spk_0 ago look at this dumb guy who doesn't know anything I mean people might do that anyway sure

spk_0 like wouldn't be not max Sutter is not going to be a buck guy max Sutter and if I'm wrong

spk_0 I'm wrong and everybody can be happy because he's a really really good player and he's a top

spk_0 hundred crew and blah blah just I don't see it happen okay and the reason why I think that would be

spk_0 interesting is what Keenan Bailey's doing with this tight in the room right now like there's a top

spk_0 100 recruit one to sign up be like yes yes yes 14 personnel sign me up but okay that's my

spk_0 first time Corbin for them the second player from a house a 2026 recruiting class who has flipped

spk_0 somewhere else it could weather spoon flip to North Carolina as a number one 48 player number 13 corner

spk_0 back and then for them the number 627 player number 33 tight in flips to Florida state I'm a so wow they lost

spk_0 to guys the ACC look at that just before we move on with some other offensive guys is there any

spk_0 chance Jacob weather Spoon ends up signing back with Ohio State by signing day or is that ship long past

spk_0 and is Ohio State on to finding other ways to replace him yeah I reached out to somebody to try

spk_0 and figure this out because like we're recording this podcast on Monday did you see what happened

spk_0 Stephen the report that came out Monday morning and the report and what happened on social media

spk_0 with North Carolina on Monday did you see this is this is a non recruity sort of did you see the

spk_0 craziness that's going on there right now mm-hmm so basically there was a report from 247's

spk_0 NC or UNC site that said that Bill Bellacic had directed North Carolina not to tweet anything

spk_0 about the Patriots or not you know there was that report about like not having the Patriots in the building

spk_0 and that was why you know think about think about this think about how much Ohio State's hyphen

spk_0 up their wider severs the NFL mm-hmm North Carolina was not hyphen up Drake May who's actually had a

spk_0 really good start to this season so Drake May is not a North Carolina alum as long as

spk_0 no Bellacic is it no it's not that it's as long as he plays for the New England Patriots

spk_0 so that that is I say that to bring up there are I was listening to a podcast today from

spk_0 it's on do I mentioned that podcast a lot it's a national college football podcast yeah I mean I'm not

spk_0 promoting other podcasts on the pod well they were they were going through the various kinds of

spk_0 interim coaches and I think there's various kinds of flip candidates and we're going to go

spk_0 through a lot of them and Weather Spoon being the guy at a school whose program is kind of

spk_0 in a dicey place whose coach might not be around who it just kind of feels like

spk_0 everything's going on in a like that's not unreasonable to me but we'll see I would venture to

spk_0 guess no but again you never know let's go well something to watch I mean all this is something

spk_0 to watch for right like the transfer portal is it who knows what's going to happen in the

spk_0 recent future okay so there are a lot of kids here over the weekend because Ohio State finally

spk_0 got to play a big 10 game at night and all of these kids it feels like hey is Ohio State going

spk_0 to flip these kids so here's what the this pod is going to turn into we just got done talking

spk_0 about players who flipped away from Ohio State now we're going to be talking about players Ohio State

spk_0 might be trying to flip over the next two months before we get the signing day let's start with

spk_0 the offensive side of the ball Andrew in terms of who was here this weekend what we think

spk_0 of where their recruitment stands with Ohio State over the next two months as Ohio State

spk_0 tried to fill out a 26 class let's start with the offensive line because there were two kids

spk_0 here there were two kids that weren't here that I think we need to talk about the first

spk_0 kid that was here that we had an idea was going to be here what kind of figured was going

spk_0 to be here was Landry breed he is a kid out of a matter I went and saw him whatever Ohio

spk_0 State's by week was I went up and watched him play they beat the snot out of whoever

spk_0 they played and he only played a half but one of those people in attendance was Tyler Bowen

spk_0 and Tyler Bowen also got to see Landry breed beat the snot out of some kids and play a

spk_0 half and catch a tackle throwback pass it was kind of great job the Kade and I cannot

spk_0 can before you continue yes go ahead yes I think the top two players in the

spk_0 Heisman Chowvy discussion right now should be Jeremiah Smith and Kaden Proctor

spk_0 who will lay from the quarterback play best player in the country in Alabama it's not just a

spk_0 wrinkle anymore two weeks in a row where they put the ball and Kaden Brockters hands and he's

spk_0 done something special let that kid go to New York if he keeps this up continue sorry I think

spk_0 well I think we just figured out the way that Orlando Pace would have won the Heisman

spk_0 so we can blame Joe and the river not giving him the ball yeah they should have put him in the

spk_0 backfield they should have put him in the backfield yeah Landry breed he is somebody who when

spk_0 I went and visited with him that was the weekend of the 20th he is committed

spk_0 to NC State number 1,106 player in the class I think this is a player that Ohio State

spk_0 sees as an interior guy in fact I know they seem as an interior guy he's a swing player

spk_0 I think he could play guard I think he could play either guard I think he could probably play

spk_0 center I don't think he's gonna play tackle at the next level and this is this is

spk_0 something that I would probably venture to guess is gonna end up in Ohio State's

spk_0 favor I would venture to guess that this goes Ohio State's way Landry breed like

spk_0 this is kind of one of those conversations where we talked about all right mentioned

spk_0 just a few minutes ago there's different types of flips Landry breed is the flip

spk_0 of bigger school comes calling better opportunity comes calling you want to go play for

spk_0 your in state team like that like that is the idea there so with with breed I mean

spk_0 it comes down to NC State views him as a tackle first but they'll play him wherever

spk_0 they need to Ohio State views him as an interior player he was the top rank and is

spk_0 the top rank offensive lineman NC State's class he would be the fifth offensive lineman

spk_0 in Ohio State's class and I think he I just think this is probably gonna go Ohio State's

spk_0 way I mean when an in state kid gets an offer like that in season typically it

spk_0 means pretty good things so yeah Landry breed was here I think he's gonna be in Ohio

spk_0 State's class even if you would ask me you know if we were to do one of those class

spk_0 predictions that we've done a few times he would be in it so Landry breed was here the

spk_0 other one that visited before we get into the kids who weren't here which makes this

spk_0 an interesting conversation was Mike Smith and this is one that kids not going to

spk_0 UCLA I'm just gonna tell you that right yeah so this came out of nowhere there was

spk_0 did it though I mean they fired up your head

spk_0 the visit came out of nowhere but the Ohio State's relationship to them okay okay

spk_0 yes there were rumblings murmurs whatever you want to call it whispers that Ohio State

spk_0 was gonna have some kind of unexpected visitors on campus Mike Smith was one of

spk_0 them he's the number 200 overall player number 12 interior offensive lineman

spk_0 prospect I think he can play tackle if you need him to Austin sir

spk_0 right now I think anybody can play left that listen if Austin sirvel can do it

spk_0 if Tyler Bowen can turn Austin sirvel to a left tackle if you tell me anybody

spk_0 65 305 pounds can play tackle I'm just going to believe you as long

spk_0 as Tyler Bowen is here deal yeah cool yeah I mean like look we went through

spk_0 a national championship winning season for Ohio State where they're

spk_0 guard was their left tackle yeah anything is possible love how that title

spk_0 run just basically well actually not even that one the 2014

spk_0 yep title like that turned us into like Kevin Kevin

spk_0 Garnett or we're just like you know what like could you win it when your

spk_0 left tackle gets hurt and then your backup left tackle stinks and then gets

spk_0 hurt yeah probably who are we to say no I said this before like last year's

spk_0 title run was very bad for us in a very specific way and it was good for us in a lot of

spk_0 ways because people obviously engaged and people loved hearing us and we got to

spk_0 talk about a national championship winning team but it's very bad for us because

spk_0 like of a heart state loses like four corners this year we're going to go into the

spk_0 playoffs I'm going to be here I'm going to very good getting a paycheck

spk_0 what serious I'm waiting until their odds drop and I'm placing a wager and I'm

spk_0 retiring yeah because apparently that doesn't matter to this team anyway

spk_0 Mike Smith I talked to him for a story he's a great kid by the way he is a really

spk_0 really good kid he's from Viral Beach Florida he had a really good relationship

spk_0 with Justin Fry but that relationship did continue I think that's notable when

spk_0 relationships carry over from one coach to another that definitely kind of shows

spk_0 you that there is a genuine interest he came up to Columbus let's see you know I wrote

spk_0 a story about him actually last year last April and he was talking about coming

spk_0 up to Columbus and how important it was and how much he liked the city and how he

spk_0 was you know really excited to see everything and then it just kind of felt like

spk_0 one of those situations where he saw a better opportunity in a couple of different

spk_0 ways at UCLA hilariously the UCLA commit wasn't like visiting for the Penn State

spk_0 game when they won that game but again UCLA is a mess and I don't want that

spk_0 win to kind of cloud that I just they're there and not a good way but Mike

spk_0 Smith his recruitment is definitely I would say open at this point I mean

spk_0 when you take a visit to Ohio State like that it definitely kind of let you

spk_0 know that there is something there so I mean look if you can add this type of

spk_0 player to your class you've already got Sam Greer who's playing like a five star

spk_0 talent you know he's a top whatever recruit I don't really even care what his

spk_0 ranking is that dude is like a top 50 player in the country you have Maxwell

spk_0 Riley who's done their like top 150 player in the class you add Mike as Smith

spk_0 into this group all of a sudden you're kind of cooking with some gas here so

spk_0 Mike as Smith showed up and and that was somebody that I mean like look for how

spk_0 much he really truly genuinely cares about Ohio State for how much he really does

spk_0 you know envision like what Ohio State can give him I feel pretty good about him

spk_0 joining this class too I think that that Mike as Smith is one of those players

spk_0 to where it's maybe less of a slam dunk than what Landry breed is and I don't

spk_0 want to call Landry breed a slam dunk but I do think breed will end up in the

spk_0 class Mike as Smith I think that's more of like a mid-range jumper I would

spk_0 probably bet that if UCLA's not it it's gonna be Ohio State.

spk_0 Do they have room because they do have was it for your eyes right now already on the

spk_0 offensive line if you're saying Landry breed is more than likely at some point

spk_0 over the next two months going to flip to Ohio State and it may be Ohio State

spk_0 flips Landry breed you have to six they haven't had a six man offensive line

spk_0 class since 2020 and good questions Steven so good question do they have room so

spk_0 there were two guys that weren't here that we need to talk about okay number

spk_0 one is Adam Guthrie he's an in-state kid who was currently committed to

spk_0 Clemson he gave an interview I was waiting for a haircut on Monday morning and he

spk_0 gave an interview with a Clemson specific it wasn't like 247 arrivals I

spk_0 think it was like a Clemson recruiting site it was a specific Clemson

spk_0 recruiting site or just team site and he said I'm fully committed I'm locked in to

spk_0 Clemson he quoted it with go Tigers you know he said in the story that Ohio

spk_0 State is the big one that's really kind of pushing for him right now again this is

spk_0 a local kid this is a kid who does attend school pretty close to I don't

spk_0 want to say it and be wrong he attends Miami Trace I don't know how far Miami

spk_0 Trace is and Washington courthouses from Columbus but this is a tackle he's a top

spk_0 250 player than number 242 overall prospect it doesn't seem like it's gonna go

spk_0 Ohio State's way Tyler Bowen has pushed he visited Adam Guthrie before he went

spk_0 up to go see Lendry breed play that night that I was talking about where breed

spk_0 was there Guthrie's committed to Clemson I would expect it to stay that way but

spk_0 somebody else that I'm keeping an eye on and keeping tabs on is Aaron Thomas the

spk_0 three-star offensive tackle who is from Mountain Point High School in Arizona

spk_0 he's one of two Arizona's Arizonaians Arizonaites I don't know he's one of two

spk_0 players that are committed to Ohio State's offensive line from that state

spk_0 number 506 prospect number 46 offensive tackle he's a big boy 67 300 pounds I

spk_0 like the way he moves a lot his upside I think is really high but tell me if

spk_0 this sounds familiar to what we just talked about he took a visit to Florida

spk_0 state this weekend when they played Miami his dad played at Florida State in

spk_0 the Northeast and Florida State is pushing for his recruit this one is very much

spk_0 up in the air I think it would not shock me if he ends up in Florida State's

spk_0 class like this this to me feels like in Ohio State Florida State battle so

spk_0 yes I think Ohio State has room I know from talking to people in that building

spk_0 that they would take six if the money's right if the numbers are right if they

spk_0 feel that the players are comfortable with it and they're comfortable with it

spk_0 that they would take six in the 26th class if they like the six that they're

spk_0 gonna take I just don't think you're gonna get there because you're at four

spk_0 right now you have breed who's currently committed NC State you have

spk_0 Micah Smith who's currently committed to UCLA you have those two that you're

spk_0 looking at and even if they do commit to Ohio State Aaron Thomas is you know

spk_0 getting flirted with by Florida State like I don't think Guthrie's gonna happen I

spk_0 would probably say that Ohio State's class ends at five on the offensive line and

spk_0 you're getting two of the three with Thomas breed and Smith a big cloud I mean

spk_0 they need a big class they've been doing three men offensive line classes for

spk_0 the last three years which is ridiculous but there's also element here it's a

spk_0 new offensive line coach probably has a philosophy I know he has philosophy it's

spk_0 a much of big-ass dudes literally that's what that's what it is big-ass dude

spk_0 Duke and Mo that is their philosophy that seems to be his philosophy both on

spk_0 the transfer portal and on the recruiting trail and you're trying to get as many

spk_0 of those guys in here as possible because you've got a new offensive line

spk_0 coach who values maybe different things than the last offensive line coach

spk_0 did right but also what's the offensive game plan going forward right what

spk_0 you want what are you trying to mold what are you trying to bring into the

spk_0 building I mean right now what do you have Tucker Smith six foot five two

spk_0 hundred and eighty pounds you got Aaron Thomas who's six seven three hundred

spk_0 pounds X-Rail Royes Riley excuse me X-Rail Riley is six five two hundred eighty

spk_0 pounds Sam Greer who is the Sam Greer is the golden goose of the the entire lot

spk_0 right six years the gem of the class yeah he is there's two people in Ohio

spk_0 States recruiting class right now where I'm not really sure why they're not

spk_0 consensus composite five star recruits and it's him and Cory Wilder and I am

spk_0 wondering if both of those guys see significant jumping in like the rankings

spk_0 by the time the season is over and people start getting high school film because I

spk_0 saw Cory Wilder at the game Saturday that guy looks like he's going to give you

spk_0 seven snaps a game as a true freshman next year and then as a sophomore

spk_0 completely take off and be awesome yeah what would not shock me at all yeah so

spk_0 and so yeah bigger class for the offensive line one it's a necessity because you've

spk_0 had a small class but also it kind of makes sense when you've got a new guy

spk_0 running in a room and he's trying to give as many as his guys in there as

spk_0 possible especially when the old like Luke Montgomery Austin cerebells got old

spk_0 really quickly in that room Carson Hinsman they got old Tegra Shibola they all

spk_0 got old real quickly in that room and so you're gonna very quickly need to

spk_0 replace those guys you're okay anybody else offensively of no or was that

spk_0 was Saturday just the Tyler Bowen show both in the game and on the sidelines it

spk_0 was not just the Tyler Bowen show but just real quick on the offensive

spk_0 line point because it's me you you need a big class because you need to start

spk_0 bringing in big classes quantity wise you know like think about what's

spk_0 happened with Ethan and Jan what I mean we like if I had told you in March that

spk_0 Ethan and Jan what was not good enough to be this team's starting tackle or

spk_0 even you know is he eligibility he's out at this is his fifth year okay never

spk_0 month but the reason I bring him up is just the importance of it because you

spk_0 had great success you landed Seth McLaughlin hit you landed Josh Simmons massive

spk_0 hit like both those two things were great you miss you take three and you're

spk_0 like oh we'll just hit the transfer portal for a tackle Philip Daniels looks

spk_0 like a hit you miss in the wrong time at the wrong position and you're in a

spk_0 hole so that's not what with that being said the surprise

spk_0 but like Ethan and y'all might be a miss but they also run in justin Terry in the

spk_0 spring and he's their backup tackle right now and he is not eligible eligibility

spk_0 after this year so I do wonder if that plays a role as well right if you only

spk_0 end up with five okay so six one the dudes you brought in in the spring and who

spk_0 went through his first summer at Ohio State and isn't going to go to it through

spk_0 his first spring until next year and right now he's your backup tackle at

spk_0 right tackle behind Philip Daniels that can help with the numbers too and I think

spk_0 that's that probably played a role in why they went and got Justin Terry as a

spk_0 transfer as well so you brought in three tackle transfers one is an immediate hit

spk_0 one you took with the understanding that this was not about this year it was

spk_0 about the future and the other ones probably amiss I think two for three is not

spk_0 bad especially if you all said it with five guys in your offensive line

spk_0 number crudening glass yeah so we'll see what happens along the offensive

spk_0 line but the offensive line is a position where I think you do probably need

spk_0 five you know I mean we we skewer Justin Fry for only having three in a class

spk_0 and while I do think Tyler Bowens for this year or better quality we'll have to

spk_0 see one of the other surprise visitors I should say the other surprise visitor

spk_0 was Amari Ladimer at Running Back he really came out of nowhere at least Mike

spk_0 Smith to me had really kind of been on the radar you know I mentioned I had

spk_0 written a story about him he loved Ohio State and and had really kind of

spk_0 talked about how cool it was and he'd been on the radar for a while Amari Ladimer

spk_0 he kind of came out of nowhere you know this to me was a this to me was a

spk_0 surprise I think if you would have told me that there were two surprise visitors

spk_0 you could eventually work your way to offensive lineman I don't think I

spk_0 would have gotten a running back for a while this kid number 378 overall

spk_0 prospect number 24 running back in the composite he's a four star player

spk_0 ten Sandy Creek in Georgia the reason why I find this one interesting is because

spk_0 I know for a fact that all this summer I'd come on this podcast and talked

spk_0 about how people in the program were like hey we have favor a key committed in

spk_0 26 we're good we're fine that that had been the idea for a little bit they

spk_0 had you know it's now act away not taken ever you want to call it some other

spk_0 top running backs in the class Savion Heiter he ends up at Michigan they're at

spk_0 Cooper he ends up at Texas there was Carson Baker he ends up at Florida he had

spk_0 an OV scheduled and many back off I think it became clear that favor a key who

spk_0 again I think is a pretty solid running back he just hasn't really played a lot

spk_0 of in a high ankle sprain in like his first carry in a season anything his

spk_0 four star ranking number two oh one overall in the class number 15 running back

spk_0 favor a key was always the guy and it just kind of felt like for Ohio State

spk_0 that they were going to be cool with one you took three in last class with as

spk_0 it Rogers or excuse me yeah turbo rod Anthony Rogers turbo Rogers Isaiah West and

spk_0 Bo Jackson and Bo Jackson looks like a capital D and he's the reason they're

spk_0 looking for another running back in this class I'll explain I don't think yeah

spk_0 I don't think that's crazy and I'm gonna let you I'm gonna give you some run

spk_0 way there David Gabriel George is the top running back on their board in 27

spk_0 they very very very much like him there are some other really good backs in 27

spk_0 but that to me was kind of the interesting idea that this summer it was we're

spk_0 good with favor a key CJ Donaldson's gonna go we have James Peoples Bo Jackson

spk_0 recruiting pods where we say that Bo Jackson is potentially going to be the

spk_0 think so I mean could you have convinced me that Bo Jackson was working into

spk_0 that mix and was maybe like this teams like James peoples from a year ago

spk_0 change of pace back yeah but I think we all thought it was gonna be peoples I

spk_0 number one running back in the country a five star recruit on top of that and

spk_0 we're all going oh that guy's gonna come in here and start next year it was not

spk_0 until Bo Jackson went to went through when it workouts and spring had started

spk_0 when it's like oh we should be buying Bo Jackson stock and that is hindsight and

spk_0 it's come to fruition obviously and I thought he had a really good game on

spk_0 Saturday I thought it was a really good first big 10 start it wasn't great and

spk_0 it wasn't bad it had ups and downs and it'll continue to progress along the way

spk_0 I'm really interested to see what he does get to Illinois this weekend because

spk_0 they got a really good linebacker by name of Gabe Jack which caused pretty awesome

spk_0 but talking about recruiting he's jumped the line just like Jalen McLean as a

spk_0 second year safety has jumped the line just like Jackson Smith the Jigba in 2021

spk_0 jumped the line so what does that do or about the guy who was in front of you

spk_0 that we thought was going to be the guy it doesn't 100% mean they're going to

spk_0 transfer but James and Williams transferred

spk_0 transfer but I am saying that Ohio State deciding to get into the battle for

spk_0 a Mari Latimer in October sure the real why is a Mari looking around because

spk_0 but like I'm always got to do what's best for him and find a situation that

spk_0 might be stable so I understand why he's shopping around why is Ohio State

spk_0 running back after the cycle the season is over because the transfer portal is a

spk_0 thing and when you have a guy that you thought was going to be your guy get

spk_0 jumped by another guy you have to be on alert for those type of things Ohio

spk_0 State's done a good job of retaining its roster but that doesn't mean it's a

spk_0 mune to somebody saying I thought I was here and the hierarchy turns out I'm

spk_0 here and the guy who jumped me is younger than me and what I want to be

spk_0 clear about though is like I don't think it has to be James peoples I never said

spk_0 a name I know I and I understand but like I think you know people are gonna

spk_0 look at this and say like oh well the dudes you know a second year player and

spk_0 he's not the starting running back and then dude his first year player is okay

spk_0 so the dude is the older guys gonna go well I think we just saw Ohio State can

spk_0 have a pretty good two-back system if two running backs are good enough to play

spk_0 they they can have two running backs go I mean then you start to look into the

spk_0 fact of okay well there are two people that Ohio State brought into the class

spk_0 or the same age as Bo Jackson Bo Jackson's the starting running back right

spk_0 now and I don't think we have any indication that in 2526 or 27 that Bo Jackson

spk_0 is gonna really seed those rains you know pouring an injury or anything like

spk_0 that so like yeah I think you're right I think it is a very unique concept of

spk_0 you know what today's day and age and recruiting is like because I mean let's

spk_0 call it what it is let's call it like like let's just be blown about it it's a

spk_0 money conversation too because like Ohio State players are wanted everywhere

spk_0 and is it worth it to pay backup running back X or a third-term running back X

spk_0 like I don't know so it's a money conversation you got to figure out or you

spk_0 bring it in what's the what's the comment yeah what's the bottomer like there's a lot

spk_0 sometimes like I we I think we've gotten so deeper to the N.I. I don't think

spk_0 that everything this is just because it's the money thing it's no sometimes

spk_0 it's just sometimes it's the traditional thing I want to play football and I

spk_0 just got jumped by somebody who's the same age as me or younger than me and now

spk_0 I have to explore my and that's again I don't that's not I don't know what's

spk_0 going to have to happen after the season but the Ohio State's gonna lose players

spk_0 as a transfer portal and they're gonna bring in players from the transfer portal

spk_0 they're gonna get commits and sign commits they're gonna get commit to end up

spk_0 in somewhere else they're gonna flip players from that's just the world of

spk_0 college football now so if you're my it has nothing to do with the money part of

spk_0 it they'll figure that out they always figure that out it does nothing to do

spk_0 with anything more than why is Ohio State all of a sudden when it felt like

spk_0 they were done at running back in the cycle looking for a running back or at

spk_0 least exploring their options it doesn't mean they're gonna they might do all

spk_0 this and go yeah we're good with favorite key but why are they at least making

spk_0 sure every stone is unturned when you thought they'd already done that it's

spk_0 because they have a true freshman who's starting at running back right now and

spk_0 if you think that might throw your numbers off then you have to go get your

spk_0 numbers and make them right they want five or six running backs in the room

spk_0 right we might need to have they do that again and during the by-way could

spk_0 right run down what's the ideal number scholarship players at every single spot

spk_0 and if the running back room is five or six okay you know you're losing one and

spk_0 CJ Donaldson just the starting a true freshman who's going to be a starting

spk_0 running back for you for the next three to four years mean you lose another guy

spk_0 you gotta explore those options right and that's all that's all it is the money

spk_0 thinks you're but don't figure that out Mark Mantoni Ryan Day and the rest of

spk_0 the staff are very good at this they're not gonna that's not gonna be an issue

spk_0 trying to flip anybody else defensively so this one you said we want 40

spk_0 minutes with the offense defense to me is so much cleaner it's so much

spk_0 simpler thank you because I don't have 40 minutes left in me well fair but it

spk_0 is just so much cleaner so much simpler let's start in the trenches I think it's

spk_0 pretty clear you know kind of the big target of the weekend obviously you got

spk_0 Carri Wilder back on campus like you mentioned it's kind of a delayed flip if

spk_0 you will Drake Quinn a four star player out of Buford Georgia number 395 overall

spk_0 prospect number 35 edd rusher he decommitted from Clemson a few weeks ago

spk_0 September 25th to be exact he decommitted from Clemson he was on campus for

spk_0 Ohio State the reason why that's a big deal Ohio State has one edd rusher

spk_0 committed in its 26 class and that is obviously like we mentioned so defensively

spk_0 on the interior you're pretty good Demari Simian is there you like him Cameron

spk_0 Brickle you like him Jameer Perez definitely like more of a long-term project

spk_0 but he's like a big body that you think you know okay this guy we plan him in

spk_0 the middle after two three years and maybe we can get something plus he's a

spk_0 Glendville kid and you know those kids you know typically they're okay sticking

spk_0 around so you feel okay about that okay so your interior is fine and you have

spk_0 wilder but you need an edd rusher you need another edd rusher and

spk_0 we talk about like what this team is gonna be kid and curry you know he's not

spk_0 gonna be around next year oh Adkinson we'll see can you out of Jackson we'll

spk_0 see like both those guys are eligible to return but like this this is really not

spk_0 even like a 26 conversation so like curry Hicks Georgia atkinson Jackson those

spk_0 guys are gonna be gone so what else you got not true Hicks will not be gone in

spk_0 27 I'm talking about these guys is 25 oh yeah you're right yeah yeah so yeah

spk_0 so like that's what I'm saying like this is not like a next year conversation

spk_0 those two years on the line so Zion Grady will be a third year player dominant

spk_0 curks will be a fourth year player Abby Sitton I will be a third year player

spk_0 edge you have car wilder you need drink win so that's a big target for them at

spk_0 edge and we'll have to kind of see how this recruitment goes I know Texas is

spk_0 gonna be a big player there so Drake Quinn keeping on that one Ohio State

spk_0 would certainly love to get him into the class just for what he is as a player

spk_0 and what you need in the class that's simple that that was it on the defensive

spk_0 line that that really like when you look at the defensive line it's kind of

spk_0 like add some commits and wilder Perez was here since here Johnson was here like

spk_0 the Glenville kids but like the defensive line they've got a couple interior

spk_0 guys really the only edge in 26 that they're kind of after that I believe was on

spk_0 campuses weekend was Drake Quinn they've got some other talented players that you

spk_0 know you could point to and say like okay jace brewer and 27 they really like him

spk_0 but that's a 27 conversation this is more 26 focus so

spk_0 oh Drake Quinn must be good defensive coaching staff member right now so okay

spk_0 let's do this let's do in 10 minutes doing this because there were a lot of kids

spk_0 here since your Johnson was here car while there was again break him higher for

spk_0 Ohio State's commits who were in town I'm kind of shocked that Blant Bradford

spk_0 where they can just open up its doors to the kid and they don't the kids don't

spk_0 been cool of like finally Ohio State got a night game for a big 10 game they

spk_0 defense who are they telling you to watch because that's going to be you in the

spk_0 future which one of these commits should be the most excited about what they've

spk_0 seen from my Patricia's defense so far through five games like because I

spk_0 I talked to Rinaldo Perez I went out and went to go see his game on Friday

spk_0 night he's a Columbus Academy the 27 kid you know he was at Purdue this weekend

spk_0 as a top 300 defensive linemen but he's one of those kids who's like he's

spk_0 65 to 45 Larry Johnson said or Rinaldo told me that Larry Johnson said that

spk_0 he likes his violence off the line and Ohio State really likes his

spk_0 versatility like he specifically mentioned Caden Curry and he was like hey

spk_0 yeah like I forget if the question was about Caden Curry or not but he was like

spk_0 Caden Curry yeah they're moving him all over and one of the things it really

spk_0 stands out to me is they've got different packages for their different personnel

spk_0 groupings and like I don't know if you're getting that with Simian or Perez you

spk_0 know or Brickle like since you're Johnson would probably be the other guy that I

spk_0 would look at and say like maybe him like he cuz like I mean he's a linebacker

spk_0 that wears number eight that it's a Glenville high school who's very very close

spk_0 reason Florida State Ohio State are having some recruiting battles the

spk_0 cycle he's got a visit schedule most of it would be good and they keep trying to

spk_0 get kids from Florida that's why Florida State has a visit schedule for him next

spk_0 weekend to me this is pretty cut and dry you have Jacob Curry you need a third

spk_0 linebacker in this class with the way that Arville Reese is playing Arville

spk_0 Reese is probably not gonna be on this team in four months I think he's a NFL

spk_0 draft to Clary because like you could say well what if you just threw a bunch of

spk_0 money at him okay well if Arville Reese is gonna be like a tenth overall pick

spk_0 15th even like he was like a 20th overall pick okay you can you can pay that

spk_0 much money for a linebacker no disrespect to what he's done it's just an

spk_0 interesting conversation that is it is kind of difficult so where does that

spk_0 leave you you got Peyton Pierce TJ offered Eli Lee Riley Petagion Garrett

spk_0 Stover there's five you have since here Johnson you have CJ Santa there's seven you

spk_0 probably want to bring in another guy or two maybe they go to the portal a

spk_0 linebacker we'll see Curry to me is clearly the top linebacker on on their

spk_0 board I think they are looking at it going okay we have less time with Arville

spk_0 though we needed a third line why this ties into a flip candidate is because

spk_0 there is somebody by the name of Jaden Williams he attends Washington in

spk_0 Washington high school mid-masculine Washington, he's three star player number 659

spk_0 overall prospects three star he's currently committed to Indiana he received

spk_0 an Ohio State offer like two three weeks ago I think this is very cut and dry

spk_0 I think Ohio State's gonna try for Curry if they don't get Curry they're gonna

spk_0 try to flip Williams they need a third linebacker in this class they might go

spk_0 to the portal and get one anyway like even if they have three because Peyton

spk_0 Pierce is gonna be a starter next year like I feel very confident in saying that

spk_0 you could if you want say Riley Petagion is gonna be a starter and hip hip hooray

spk_0 or you could just say you know what let's go get another guy because we like

spk_0 somebody in the portal so that would not stun me but you need numbers and I

spk_0 think Williams is that second option so to me linebacker pretty much just comes

spk_0 down to Curry if not Curry who is uncommitted we're gonna try to flip Williams

spk_0 from Indiana I think they should start Riley Petagion next year you can still go

spk_0 get yourself a portal yeah totally reasonable there's nothing wrong with

spk_0 giving you a portal guy but I think you should start Riley Petagion at linebacker

spk_0 the way he moves out there linebacker also you're saying Ohio State might

spk_0 probably in good hands with like if you're starting trio of Aaron Scott

spk_0 Devon Sanchez and like Bryce West like if that's your starting trio next year

spk_0 yeah exactly you're in great hands there but then what do you have behind

spk_0 those three like if if Matthews does go then it's Sanchez Scott West and then

spk_0 it's like okay is Jordan Woods as a second year player who you kind of took

spk_0 at the project is he ready to go is Miles Lockhart ready to prove to go was

spk_0 that you know third year player you need you have Jordan Thomas but is he gonna

spk_0 be ready as a freshman that I don't know you need you need some options corners

spk_0 a different conversation uh safety is the last one they had Kamari Bing on

spk_0 campus he was here for an OV Alabama Ohio State of the two schools that are

spk_0 really kind of pushing for this kid he attends St. Francis Academy in Baltimore

spk_0 they are one of the best high school powerhouses in the country which I

spk_0 don't know like I knew this because I lived there at the time in Maryland

spk_0 do you know who used to coach St. Francis Academy and who like really got St.

spk_0 Francis Academy off the ground in terms of like their football program Biff

spk_0 Poggy who's Michigan's Ed Cote for two games this year so very interesting but

spk_0 yeah St. Francis Academy the hell of a football program the Guzzani Lee and

spk_0 other Maryland commit Jaira Edwards a safety I want to stop with those kids

spk_0 those dudes to keep ball Kamari Bing or Kamari Bing number nine 14 overall

spk_0 players listed as a quarter Ohio State season as a safety and we'll see what the

spk_0 numbers look like at this position but I think you need three in this class

spk_0 you've got you know Lane Bradford who it has calmed down you never want to say

spk_0 never in today's recruiting landscape LSU is gonna keep pushing his brothers

spk_0 there he's from Baton Rouge you just you don't want things to get

spk_0 squirrely at the finish line like you you want this to kind of play simply and

spk_0 smoothly if you're a Ohio State so yeah it doesn't seem like there's been a lot

spk_0 of noise but that does not mean LSU is gonna stop trying so you have him

spk_0 Simi and Caldwell again everybody's kind of talking about this linebacker move

spk_0 think he's a safety he's just probably more of a box safety than anything but
