spk_0 The week six waiver wire is here and Jacob Sanderson and I are going to be going over the Arizona
spk_0 backfield.
spk_0 Of course, the chargers backfield, they're always dealing with an injury, some tight ends.
spk_0 And I think maybe a state of the union ad, like the low end tight end one conversation.
spk_0 So some of those guys would be on my drop list.
spk_0 Then obviously we have some youngsters that are making some noise.
spk_0 But we got to start this thing off with Michael Carter last week.
spk_0 He did end up starting.
spk_0 He played about half the snaps, but got most of the work that we're talking about that we want.
spk_0 So what did you see out of Michael Carter?
spk_0 And I was just shocked that he's only at 39% roster in Yahoo League.
spk_0 So I think that's good news for us that there's still a huge market for that that we can grow into as
spk_0 content creators.
spk_0 We clearly are not reaching the masses yet.
spk_0 Yes, disperting for how I thought the show was doing.
spk_0 Michael Carter is 61% un-rostered.
spk_0 Really wild to me that that's the case.
spk_0 Carter, I think going into last week, we both agreed.
spk_0 He was the better option played in this backfield.
spk_0 That came out to be the case.
spk_0 He was basically the early down guy.
spk_0 I think they gave Zonovan Bam night like a series or two and one of them.
spk_0 He was really successful on the let him finish it out for the touchdown.
spk_0 But he played very little.
spk_0 It was the Mercado in the third down roll as he had been in previous seasons.
spk_0 And it was he had been in the previous week.
spk_0 Now things get even better for Michael Carter.
spk_0 First of all, he looked pretty darn good to me.
spk_0 I mean, he's not going to be the best running back in the NFL.
spk_0 But this is a guy who once upon a time was a totally viable starting running back.
spk_0 And he looked to me like a fairly viable starting running back,
spk_0 especially a plug and play back up.
spk_0 And Trey Benson is going to be out at least three more weeks,
spk_0 but potentially more.
spk_0 This will be a minute.
spk_0 I think it's right.
spk_0 I think it's trim.
spk_0 It's like totally plausible.
spk_0 He misses five games, six games, seven games on the spot.
spk_0 And he had one career start.
spk_0 If Michael Carter keeps playing, there's no reason why he can't make this a full blown
spk_0 committee by the time that Benson returns.
spk_0 And add on top of that, Mari D Mercado, Ed Mitchell, I'm calling him, made the bonehead
spk_0 mistake that everybody seems so desperate to make of not wanting to hold the balls they
spk_0 crossed the goal.
spk_0 I don't know if it's lathered in poison or what's going on.
spk_0 It drives me crazy that this keeps happening.
spk_0 But yeah, he wanted no part of it.
spk_0 So he gets extremely yelled at on the sidelines.
spk_0 Maybe touch.
spk_0 Maybe pushed.
spk_0 We'll see.
spk_0
spk_0 We'll see.
spk_0 Either way, I think it's like quite possible that he is punished in some way for this.
spk_0 He could be caught.
spk_0 He could be scratched.
spk_0 He could just have his role reduced.
spk_0 I don't know.
spk_0 And I'll note that Michael Carter has a history of being a long downed distance back.
spk_0 He played in this role with Jermonte Williams in North Carolina.
spk_0 He played in this role alongside Breeze Hall at times in New York.
spk_0 He could totally play in this role again.
spk_0 And maybe they just say, we'll give BAM night 20 to 30% of the early down work.
spk_0 And we'll use Carter as an all situations back outside of that.
spk_0 That would make total sense to me.
spk_0 Night looked totally fine.
spk_0 And we mentioned the issues of the Mercado.
spk_0 So I think you should be optimistic about Carter being a mid-range RB2 for at least
spk_0 the next month.
spk_0 Yeah, totally agree at all those points.
spk_0 He had 15.4 expected points this last game.
spk_0 And he's a fascinating guy because in the NFL, he's kind of been treated as this early
spk_0 down guy.
spk_0 But in college, he was kind of always like the 1B guy and he's undersized for sure.
spk_0 So you kind of think about pass downs with him.
spk_0 He's capable of catching passes.
spk_0 But for whatever reason, he's been treated as early down guy.
spk_0 So I think in Richard or Jonathan Ganon's presser, he said that they're not going to punish
spk_0 Yimari Dima or Colorado.
spk_0 So but we don't even need him to be punished.
spk_0 And if they just reduce that role, like just because they want to get micro Carter on
spk_0 the field more, that's all great news for microcard.
spk_0 Only like bad thing about the situation is their blocking tight end is now out.
spk_0 Their offensive line is bad.
spk_0 So it's just a bad situation for microcard, but he's getting all of the work.
spk_0 And I don't expect that to change at all.
spk_0 So I would say very clearly the top ad of the week.
spk_0 Well, obviously, to the chargers running back in a second.
spk_0 But before we get to them, there's a couple tight ends that are on my radar quickly.
spk_0 Let's start with Mason Taylor just because he was the one that played this last week.
spk_0 But it was very promising in the Jets.
spk_0 The second round are they are desperate for somebody else to step up, especially in
spk_0 garbage time.
spk_0 The defense can't stop anybody.
spk_0 They have no other wider receivers beyond Garrett Wilson.
spk_0 So if he's any good at all, we're kind of looking at a bunch of expected points here.
spk_0 So what have you seen for Mason Taylor as the prospecting in so far this season?
spk_0 Well, once again, another all time, just to watch the games performance from our guy Justin
spk_0 Fields.
spk_0 He always gets there.
spk_0 Don't watch the games and don't tweet during the games.
spk_0 Just let it ride and then see what happens at the end is the rule of Justin Fields.
spk_0 Yeah, Mason Taylor is in a good spot because the only way that the Jets can do anything on
spk_0 offense, basically, is in fourth quarter, come back mode against prevent defenses when
spk_0 everything is completely lost.
spk_0 And they get in those situations a lot because they're total ass.
spk_0 So I expect that he's going to continue to have four and five catch, fourth quarters
spk_0 for very usable, especially for an entitan premium or PPR format fantasy games.
spk_0 I could see him being in the load and tight and one mix for sure.
spk_0 And you also have the benefit of, hey, maybe this offense actually takes a step forward
spk_0 at some point.
spk_0 Maybe they play Tyrod Taylor at some point and run a real offense.
spk_0 Mason Taylor easy path to being the number two target behind Wilson.
spk_0 They have absolutely nothing at what receiver.
spk_0 It's a joke.
spk_0 So looking at the usage model, he's gone up in five consecutive weeks, like no exaggeration
spk_0 every single week.
spk_0 It's gotten better in a top down last week season high 15.2 expected points.
spk_0 And he had three targets in the first quarter because I was watching this game for a recap
spk_0 show.
spk_0 But then like the target just kept coming and like that, like you said, in fourth quarters,
spk_0 you're just going to skip that.
spk_0 So if you only took his like last three games where he's like actually grown into like a
spk_0 real player, he's a tight and foreign usage.
spk_0 So and I think he looks fairly good.
spk_0 He's like kind of a no nonsense yard after the catch guy.
spk_0 He's not like physically dominant.
spk_0 So they're not talking about grogms and kiddles and all type of stuff.
spk_0 But he's just going to be something that's got a catch passes, sit in zone coverage and
spk_0 has enough speed to get to the first down marker.
spk_0 And that's like what 85% of tight end receiving production is just going where to sit down.
spk_0 So I think pretty promising start for Mason Taylor and the Jets just once again, just beyond
spk_0 desperate for him to step up.
spk_0 I'm part of the fun with Taylor is he's a real boy tight end.
spk_0 Like you can actually block.
spk_0 You can play in line.
spk_0 So you're not hopefully especially as the year goes on having to deal with weird platoons
spk_0 and road issues and stuff.
spk_0 Like I would put him in the world of like the the Jake Ferguson to the exact whole
spk_0 commit something in that kind of reaction.
spk_0 That's totally viable.
spk_0 Yep.
spk_0 Another one that I think is going to match with Mason Taylor just grown into but we have
spk_0 not seen it yet is Colston, Loveland.
spk_0 So I'm not sure if he's going to be healthy enough to come back out of the by week and
spk_0 play immediately.
spk_0 Truthfully, I don't really care.
spk_0 Cole Comet had one of the worst tight end games of the year in week four before the by week
spk_0 post by rookie bum for you guys that are due to it.
spk_0 It's just once these coaches come out of the by week, they start learning the weaknesses
spk_0 of the offense.
spk_0 They start envisioning that this rookie that he's going to save the season and all of
spk_0 a sudden these guys start playing more.
spk_0 So Colston, Loveland, the top 10 pick, where are you with him pre draft?
spk_0 And you think there's a chance they can overtakes Cole Comet as like the one a because they run
spk_0 a lot of two tight end sets and even three tight end stuff, but he needs to be like the
spk_0 first guy and play all the snaps.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 What do you think his odds are of like completely supplanting?
spk_0 Cole Comet.
spk_0 I love Loveland pre draft.
spk_0 He was my tight end one pre draft.
spk_0 That's obviously wrong.
spk_0 Tyler Warren rules.
spk_0 But hey, maybe Loveland will be just as good with the moral arc of the universe as long.
spk_0 So I'm a big fan of Colston Loveland.
spk_0 I think he's a super talented player.
spk_0 I think he has upside to be like the second most talented pass catcher on this offense.
spk_0 Quite frankly.
spk_0 I think that with the bears, you had two rookies, both of whom missed a lot of time in camp
spk_0 with two different injuries.
spk_0 And I always kind of baked in the possibility of this post rookie bump where maybe Ben Johnson
spk_0 looked at it where look, I have this really early buy anyway.
spk_0 We have these two rookies we want to integrate, but we have serviceable veterans.
spk_0 We're installing a brand new complex offense.
spk_0 Why don't we sort of use these four weeks is almost like an extended preseason for the
spk_0 rookies and work in them after that week five buy?
spk_0 I think that's totally viable.
spk_0 As you mentioned, Cole Comet sucked against the Raiders.
spk_0 He had multiple killer drops.
spk_0 He got absolutely abused by Max Crosspiece repeatedly throughout the game.
spk_0 And that to me is the more compelling part of this because no one realistically could
spk_0 argue that Cole Comet is a more gifted athlete down the field running seam routes.
spk_0 Anything that's breaking than Colson Loven.
spk_0 No, he's not.
spk_0 Loven used to split out wide and be corner and Michigan.
spk_0 So the reason why Cole Comet in theory could ever be playing ahead of Colson Loven
spk_0 in one tight end sets is that he can handle edges and blocking.
spk_0 If he's getting killed in blocking assignments, there is no benefit to him playing at all
spk_0 in those situations.
spk_0 And so I think they should at least give Loven a share of the 11 personnel sets and see
spk_0 how he does.
spk_0 And if he can handle himself as a blocker, which I was pretty optimistic on his blocking.
spk_0 And I think we're going to see that just continue to he becomes the clear one tight end set guy
spk_0 and Cole Comets only in their own two tight end sets.
spk_0 I bet we see that scale up over the next few weeks if and when Loven is healthy.
spk_0 This seems also just passing the ball maybe a little bit more than people would expect
spk_0 in neutral situations.
spk_0 They're defense.
spk_0 They're running back suck.
spk_0 Yeah, they can't run the ball like that.
spk_0 That's just some.
spk_0 They can't block or they don't have the running back to do it.
spk_0 They're defense.
spk_0 If you guys haven't noticed, also stinks.
spk_0 So this seems just going to be really high up in dropbacks the rest of the season.
spk_0 And Caleb just looks better each week as well.
spk_0 So I think there's a lot of potential here.
spk_0 Well, Luther Burton, I'm more optimistic on Cole St.
spk_0 Levelyn like supplanting and being in maybe like the lead tight end.
spk_0 Then Luther Burton getting into two wide receiver sets, which I think will have to do to like,
spk_0 actually be startable and like read draft leagues.
spk_0 But it's certainly possible.
spk_0 They can definitely use some more explosiveness out of their wide receivers.
spk_0 What what's your outlook?
spk_0 Yeah, I don't know about him getting into two wide receiver sets.
spk_0 The DJ more stuff's been weird.
spk_0 I thought he's like looked better than he did last year to my eye when I thought he played actively bad.
spk_0 Yes, but he still has been used in this really weird role where most of his touches are on clear
spk_0 designer stuff that's outside the rhythm of the offense.
spk_0 They just don't seem very interested in designing first read stuff for him,
spk_0 which is kind of what I thought would be the case.
spk_0 Like I thought he would be more of a gadgety player in the soft and because it didn't look like he could win
spk_0 on anything down field last year.
spk_0 This year he does look like he can.
spk_0 They're just not using him that way.
spk_0 So there's maybe some upside if burden really flashes to supplant more in two
spk_0 I just said at the very end of the years what I'm trying to say.
spk_0 I think the far more likely scenario is that he's a plant's a lot of days of key is who's I think
spk_0 become sort of a less key cog in this offense since he was in week one.
spk_0 And then if they are out on cold combat at some point,
spk_0 maybe they just run more 11 personnel with burden.
spk_0 That's the upside of him.
spk_0 Yeah, yeah.
spk_0 I could totally say I didn't deeply play.
spk_0 He's going to be out there.
spk_0 I think in best ball, the totally different discussion there where you don't have to predict
spk_0 when he's going to have his big week and obviously Luther Burton could absolutely fly out there
spk_0 and he was on the receiving end of that flea flicker.
spk_0 So I've noticed that he's kind of in there for some of the gadgety plays.
spk_0 And then DJ Moore is actually playing a little bit of running back, which I'm a little bit curious
spk_0 about if they're going to keep doing that because I like the result of it.
spk_0 Yeah, it's anything there too.
spk_0 I mean, I think more burdened are the two best running backs on this team.
spk_0 Yeah, it's like honestly not an exaggeration at all.
spk_0 The same thing would be true about this backfield.
spk_0 Maureen Hampton goes out.
spk_0 No one even knows exactly what play he was injured on all of a sudden he's in a boot.
spk_0 The next day we get, boom, injured deserves.
spk_0 So he's going to be out for at least the next four games here.
spk_0 Went back.
spk_0 It's a son half-skins and come on you by all.
spk_0 What happened this last week is
spk_0 Hassan Haskins was actually mixing in.
spk_0 Winnell Maureen Hampton was relatively healthy.
spk_0 He was the guy that entered in first.
spk_0 Come on you by all, also got a little bit of run.
spk_0 They would play like four or five snaps in a row than they would move on from the situation.
spk_0 Hassan Haskins leaves with the starters because they were getting blown out.
spk_0 And come on you by all stays in next to Trayland.
spk_0 So these two guys like stylistically complete opposites.
spk_0 I don't think any one of them are good.
spk_0 Like if you want to have a stance that one guy is much better than the other,
spk_0 sure the answer is probably either very good.
spk_0 So what's your kind of just outlook of this charger's backfield?
spk_0 You can throw out names like Gus Edwards or somebody else too if you want to.
spk_0 Just what's the status for chargers?
spk_0 Yeah, I mean, I'll note that.
spk_0 I legitimately do think they'll sign Gus Edwards.
spk_0 He's available. He's a free agent.
spk_0 He was on this team last year.
spk_0 He's been with Greg Roman forever.
spk_0 This reminds me of how the chiefs wide receivers have been the last couple of years where they keep
spk_0 doing the right thing.
spk_0 They keep trying to add wide receiver talent to address the room.
spk_0 And it's like look where it brought you back to me.
spk_0 Justin Watson running routes.
spk_0 You know, the chargers, they go out.
spk_0 They sign Najieris.
spk_0 They draft marine hampton in the first round and look what it brought you back to a potential
spk_0 committee of Gus Edwards.
spk_0 Come on, even tell on the sun,
spk_0 askins just like they had in like week 12 last year.
spk_0 If you remember how that looked last year, none of them were startable.
spk_0 When JK Dobbins missed time last year, zero chargers running backs were worth putting
spk_0 in your lineup and fantasy.
spk_0 They just leaned into the past.
spk_0 They never threw to the backs.
spk_0 They basically only use them when they had to.
spk_0 And they completely deprioritized them in the structure of their offense because they weren't
spk_0 any good.
spk_0 Greg Roman offense is historically.
spk_0 Never thrown to running backs.
spk_0 That's changed the last three weeks for the marine hampton.
spk_0 I think it's in part because their offensive line has gotten settled with injuries and they
spk_0 need to get the ball out fast.
spk_0 But I also think it's in part because they have this talented athletic back.
spk_0 And they're trying to find ways to get them the ball in space.
spk_0 You don't think there's going to have that same level of intent with either of these two
spk_0 goofs or any other free agent they sign off the street.
spk_0 If you're asking me to give you a talent evaluation of them,
spk_0 I mean, I like to add more of the process.
spk_0 But like, whatever conviction that I had in Medellin is like a fun flyer last year out of Troy,
spk_0 has been deeply surpassed by the available evidence that he was in one of the worst running
spk_0 back rooms in the NFL last year and got basically zero opportunities except for one very fun wheel
spk_0 route. It's pretty unlikely that he's good at this point.
spk_0 And I'd also just say,
spk_0 a marine hampton in the games without Najie Harris has played like between 80 to 90% of the snaps.
spk_0 The fact that they still feel the need to divvy up like eight backup snaps per game between
spk_0 these two just tells you everything you need to know about how little confidence they haven't either
spk_0 of them that they don't think either is capable of handling like seven backup snaps per game
spk_0 as one single running back. So I think the most likely scenario is none of these guys are any good.
spk_0 They also bring in the third guy and the real winner is like the three ride receivers who just
spk_0 continue to get peppered with more and more and more targets. Yeah, that's that's where I'm at
spk_0 with this situation. Do you remember like the the chargers off season they immediately bring in
spk_0 Najie Harris and then the first round pick is another running back and they had his son
spk_0 haskins a commodity by the all on there. So just this is not going to be a fun situation. I guess
spk_0 I would go to his son haskins like breaking ties. He's a Michigan alum, you know, that's kind of
spk_0 mean something for our bar or something. I don't know. He just the fact that he was playing earliest
spk_0 in the rotation and he's theoretically bigger for the goal line stuff, but it's it's pretty bleak.
spk_0 I think this week was only two teams on by so yeah, and like standard leagues and stuff for flex
spk_0 play. I think that he's probably into that threshold, but this is not the situation that we've
spk_0 been talking about in previous episodes. I guess I'll go the other way. My real answers and either
spk_0 if I had to pick one, it would be the doll just because I guess like whatever remnants of a prospect
spk_0 that I like still exists a little bit and mostly just because I think he's the better pass catcher of
spk_0 the two. And so either one of these guys is going to get four or five catches for PPR value
spk_0 because they can't block anyone. I think he would be the better bet. For what it's worth, he also
spk_0 played more than haskins last year, but you mentioned haskins was the guy who got into the game first
spk_0 this week. So it's a toss up. Yeah, for sure. I'm sure people in the comments feel very good about
spk_0 one of these guys being very much better than the other and they should they shouldn't. How about
spk_0 this though? All right, Kendrick Miller, there's no standalone value yet. So we're talking about the
spk_0 Saints backfield now too. He closed out the game. They won the game and I was looking at my like
spk_0 timeline charts that I post with the running backs and it was obviously more album in Camara early
spk_0 when they were projected, you know, it was supposed to be a close game. And then as like the
spk_0 winning percentage goes up in the Saints favor, Kendrick Miller goes out there plays a little bit more
spk_0 after the game. Kellen Moore be sure to shout him out. He's just in the handcuffed category to me,
spk_0 but the one other caveat and just the thing that can break his in his favor is if Alvin Camara
spk_0 does get traded at the deadline there are one in four after also. What have you seen out of Kendrick
spk_0 Miller? And like, would you rather have him than these chargers backs, like even for the next
spk_0 like couple weeks and the rest of the season? Yeah, yeah, I would because I think he has he's a
spk_0 very clear handcuff. He has an actual role. I mean, he's basically splitting carries 50-50 at this
spk_0 point and Camara's just beating him out on the targets. So yeah, I would go mail or over both of them
spk_0 and you also still have the tradeouts and everything that we discussed before. So yeah, okay,
spk_0 quickly just, Sequan Barkley popped up on the injury report knee injury quickly after
spk_0 rap sheet said it's not a big deal. Just wanted to note that because they have played on a short
spk_0 week. It's, you know, met life turf. It's revenge game. It's all that stuff. This would be a very
spk_0 similar situation to what we're dealing with the chargers where AG Dylan and Will Shipley rotated
spk_0 since they've had Will Shipley. They signed AG Dylan and I forgot after I tweeted that,
spk_0 that they had traded for tank Bigsby to. So it would be a complete disaster situation once
spk_0 again over there. The Bigsby trade continues to confuse me. I mean, how dare I
spk_0 or smurch the genius that's how he rose men. But like they traded two day three drafts for this guy
spk_0 and they don't even use them over AG Dylan. It's really confusing to me. They must really like him
spk_0 as a kicker trainer, which I haven't seen them. And like make big plays on it. I'll say like if we
spk_0 somehow get more bearish news throughout the week, I mean, we got it on Hubbard and on Benson after
spk_0 we reported last week. So who knows? I would still be strongly Shipley. I know that Dylan has been
spk_0 mixing in more in the recent weeks. I just still go back to the first game of the season. Will
spk_0 Shipley was getting touches on the first drive of the game. And I thought that showed a legitimate
spk_0 intention with him. Then he gets hurt and they've been slow playing him since he got back.
spk_0 Maybe he's still hurt to some extent. But I just feel like like what could Shipley have possibly
spk_0 done outside of the injury to have lost trust with the staff? Like I don't see anything. And he
spk_0 seemed clearly the dude that they wanted to make a point of getting involved on the very first
spk_0 drive of their season, versus AJ Dylan has really only worked in after Shipley has gotten hurt and
spk_0 has not been as much of a player of intent, even the side sake one Barclays. So I guess.
spk_0 Yeah, same, same with me. You also have the better pass catcher. This team, the last two weeks,
spk_0 has actually been pretty high up in neutral pass rate. They have like really lost faith, like
spk_0 running the ball for whatever reason. So I think that would lean into his favor too.
spk_0 Quickly just want to mention two other just this is like really dark throw, tight end territory.
spk_0 But AJ Barner and Theo Johnson both had quality games in this one very involved in the red area.
spk_0 Both of these guys could block and they eat up a bunch of snaps. So if the start flashing,
spk_0 higher target shares, they're actually involved in first read looks or if these offenses take
spk_0 the next step on other sea oxer looking good. And that's why you do barner score those touchdowns.
spk_0 But if the Jackson starts breaking out, AJ Barner and Theo Johnson not for now. But like for
spk_0 just for deep leagues and just to have your eye on these guys, I do think that there's something
spk_0 with AJ Barner and Theo Johnson. Have you seen anything with those guys?
spk_0 Yeah, I mean Theo, it seemed like they made it a point to get them involved in the red area.
spk_0 You look at who's on this team. Juan Del Romano's on a red zone guy.
spk_0 Slayton Terry Slayton is hurt now and is like more of a deep threat and it's kind of bad.
spk_0 Everybody else is totally bad. So like yeah, who would you throw to the red zone? Probably just the
spk_0 big guy post them up. I mean, he was clearly the schemeed up read there. That second touchdown,
spk_0 especially. So I think he's going to have a continued red zone role anytime if your tight end is
spk_0 hurt, if you're a kittle team, if you're a bower's team, whatever, you can stick him in there.
spk_0 He probably has a good of a chance of getting a touchdown as anyone you can get off waivers. So
spk_0 I'm pretty optimistic on Theo and Barner same idea. It's going to be a two tight end heavy team.
spk_0 He's the commit to, you know, whatever we were talking about with Loveland, sort of more of the
spk_0 a rollo and I think it's going to stay that way. He's a way of better blocker than a rollo and
spk_0 he's been totally serviceable as a pass catcher. So yeah, like both of them last tight end I wanted to
spk_0 dimension Brock Bowers. We got injury update that it's not just the PCL injury. It's a bone bruise
spk_0 and my understanding of that is like this early into into their his career and the Raiders are now
spk_0 one in four. The bone risk like it's a risk tolerance thing and there's just no reason to like
spk_0 have them out there. So there could be setbacks. It can get worse. So I think the plan would be to
spk_0 rest them for at least another week or so. And Michael Mayer by that point, hopefully,
spk_0 has cleared concussion protocols. So if you're looking for like a one week fill in, if you are the
spk_0 Brock Bowers draft or George Kiddles, not going to be coming back this week or you just drafted a
spk_0 bust, I do think that Michael Mayer has a chance to maybe be a sneaky ad probably very very cheap
spk_0 because he misses last game. Yeah, it's just so frustrating how they've handled this injury. It
spk_0 hurt as a shell of himself for three weeks for no reason. If they just rest at him at the beginning,
spk_0 it feels like he could be playing now at full health and look like the player he wasn't week one.
spk_0 Instead of having to deal with a completely compromised version and then probably still miss
spk_0 until the buy week. It's a big bummer. And yeah, for mayor, I bet Bowers the most likely scenarios
spk_0 he's he's rest until the buy. So I think you got probably a couple weeks on Michael Mayer as a
spk_0 startable low-entite and one assuming he gets back in the concussion. I will note he's had multiple
spk_0 concussions now in his career. So I wouldn't take it like as a totally assured that he comes back
spk_0 this coming week, but we'll see. I mean the Bowers situation doesn't completely sum up the
spk_0 Raiders like offseason and rebuild where they're halfway in halfway out and like if they would
spk_0 just play the long game for once in their lives, they would actually you know get better results
spk_0 in the future, but they're trying to win now and they can't. They're incapable of winning now. So
spk_0 yeah, that's just like classic Raiders situation there. And they knew he was for I mean look at the
spk_0 routes that they designed for him in week one where they were doing these long crossing routes
spk_0 and this really creative usage and you can couldn't even about the snaps, but like when he was on the
spk_0 field, the usage that he got was fantastic and they were force feeding them the ball in those spots.
spk_0 And then they knew he was hurt because all they designed for him in the next three weeks was a
spk_0 bunch of seven-year stop routes. So they knew it and they did it anyway and it was just so frustrating
spk_0 to yeah anyway. Okay, is there any other ad before I get to the drop list like anyone like
spk_0 scrolling down for you? Yeah, not a whole lot. I mean I'll mention Kenny Gainwell
spk_0 you know Warren's back at practice. So I don't think he are like pumped to start Gainwell,
spk_0 but he played really darn well. And so maybe you get a committee there we talked about him last week.
spk_0 And then the other guy I'll just mention he's still only 58% owned which is remarkable to me,
spk_0 but Rico Towell looked like age-old beaters him last week. So if you happen to be in the 42% of leagues,
spk_0 I don't imagine that you need me to tell you to pick up the guy who had 234 yards last week,
spk_0 but I think you should if he's available. Yeah, well maybe if you are in that league,
spk_0 maybe you do need your handheld. So who knows who knows. All right, so drop list. I mean,
spk_0 you can't start this week's drop list without putting the Mari Dima Kado just the drop himself
spk_0 right at the top of that list. So he only played on third downs pretty much like I think he
spk_0 had like 16 to the 18th or down snap. So he did not graduate out of that role. He's firmly dropable.
spk_0 The Cardinals might make it on the season four. He says roll after that. Yeah, performance.
spk_0 Yeah, I mean, you literally can't make the drop list any clearer than dropping the ball.
spk_0 You're literally on the drop list. Yes. Yeah. Absolutely. A couple guys that just we were talking
spk_0 about so many tight ends. So I want to include a couple guys. The TG Hawkins and stuff. He's at 90%
spk_0 rostered. You can keep keep on doing this thing, but he's heading into the buy. They don't know what
spk_0 quarterback they're going to go with. They have two complete star wide receivers to throw the ball to.
spk_0 And I just think that he's not going to be the same like target earner that he was previously.
spk_0 He's not like popping out to me on tape all that much. Not getting any first read stuff.
spk_0 He's just checking check downs. And why would you think for him? And why would you design
spk_0 stuff to TG Hawkins? So I think like the Mason like what I dropped TG Hawkins Hawkins and
spk_0 from Mason Taylor absolutely would not think twice about any of that. Mark Andrews, very similar
spk_0 situation. No Lamar Jackson this week. Then they go into a buy week and Isaiah likely is coming back.
spk_0 I would put Richard Bateman into that same exact category. You're not going to be using these guys
spk_0 for multiple weeks. And then even when when they do come back, you're like just praying for a touch
spk_0 down. So don't like those situations. Last to Geno Smith, just Jover, no left tackle, no Brock
spk_0 Bowers. Not going to happen. And then all he Gordon is at 25%. He's a touchdowner bus guy, but
spk_0 they can't run the ball at all. The offensive line is completely dreadful. They're second
spk_0 rounder now playing left guard. He can't block anybody. He's like, he's got maybe the worst
spk_0 recovery speed I've seen from a rookie. So all those guys, I don't think you really need any of them.
spk_0 No big agree. I mean, Hawkinson is not like, I'm not saying to drop him because he's worse than the
spk_0 guys we've mentioned. He's kind of like the same as most of the guys you've mentioned, but that's the
spk_0 point. Like you have to pick up a streamer anyway while he's on buy. So you're going to don't roster
spk_0 two tight ends. These guys are all the same. There's like fly tight ends that matter. Oh,
spk_0 again, all these guys are the same. There's even less because two of them are hurt. So we're
spk_0 probably like, what two tight ends that actually matter. Three, I guess we got to count the
spk_0 furg dog. So yeah, at this point, just dropped each eye, Hawkinson. And yeah, there's way better
spk_0 running back handcuffs than all he Gordon. And that's what he is. He's running back handcuffs.
spk_0 Stand alone rolls of Fugazi. Let's take one more. Just like Dart throw. You wanted to mention him.
spk_0 Bershardt Smith, he's playing like Asgard recording. He's playing the second quarter here, but
spk_0 whether he does well or not, but check out of a hundred yards, it doesn't matter.
spk_0 They're just like an entry with Bershardt Smith. The rookie tell us about his situation right now.
spk_0 Yeah, he might be the last running back out there that you could make a very plausible case
spk_0 of how he is the starting running back without an injury within like the next month.
spk_0 You know, and what starting running back means for Bershardt Smith is probably different than what
spk_0 it means for other running backs because he does have limitations. Seventh rounder, more of a pass
spk_0 catcher type. But like I'll say I've only watched the first half of this game. Karim Hunt just had a
spk_0 big run. But like, I know. What did he all have on that? Yeah, I won't say that it was like the most
spk_0 impressive big run. It was sort of like he got through the hole and nobody told me. It was a 30-B yard
spk_0 game and it was negative rest yards over expected. Next time, he should have busted that for 48.
spk_0 Yeah, the safety kind of was like I'm not too concerned to kind of think about that.
spk_0 But hey, it worked. Yeah, I'll also say they just designed a really nice angle route for Bershardt
spk_0 Smith. That was very Jeric McKinney. So, point being, Checo and Karim Hunt, these guys are total
spk_0 jags. And Bershardt Smith, if he continues to impress and he's flashed a couple times and they use
spk_0 him in interesting ways, if you could just get him up to what the actual Jeric McKinney role used to be,
spk_0 which was these designer plays on early downs, but also they would use him on passing downs.
spk_0 And then who knows? Maybe they even give him some more actual carries and stuff instead of
spk_0 just purely these kind of designer plays. It's just that God's interesting to have on your bench
spk_0 because there's so many pure handcuffs in these redraft leagues. But this is one dude who I think
spk_0 you could at least squint and see how he's at 12 to 14 point per game guy late season without any
spk_0 injuries. Yeah, I do like him in full PPR redraft leagues. You got a deep league. I would be
spk_0 interested in that. I also just think the chiefs are about to take off just I think Xavier Worthy
spk_0 is a big deal. The offensive line has been kind of hit and miss and hopefully they start jelling
spk_0 with some new pieces. I think that my home is playing extremely well and then just looking at the
spk_0 box score while recording this, my home is 12 for 1462 yards and a touchdown. Ty Quant Thornton.
spk_0 Like to me, like even just Ty Quant Thornton, what he brings versus Justin Watson, Deander Hopkins,
spk_0 and the all those players, I think this offense could like get back to like 28 points per game plus
spk_0 for type of territory and like there's only one game left until Richie Rice. Exactly. So I think
spk_0 they're just going to go crazy here. So like adding any chief, I think you could do worse than that.
spk_0 So to make your point on per shard Smith. So all right, what do you got? And by the way,
spk_0 congrats on the new gig. Tell us about that and then what you got for for for more writing.
spk_0 Yeah. So I mean, you can always find my usual checkers guy on thinking about thinking I'm going to do
spk_0 a bit of a dynasty mailbag there this week as well. And the new gig. So it'll be a monthly feature.
spk_0 I wrote the first edition of it last week for the athletic and it's redraft trade value tiers.
spk_0 So I sort of built these quantified trade value tiers that are based off of my dynasty points,
spk_0 co-host Lucas's wins over replacement model. And then just sort of scaled my rest of season rankings
spk_0 into that model. If you know, you want to use the same type of math in the weeks that I'm not
spk_0 ready to call them and you want to input your own rankings, you just do that and you basically
spk_0 assign it to the model. And it kind of gives you a reasonably fair trade calculator where you can
spk_0 start to piece your head around the two for ones, the three for two stuff like that. So go check
spk_0 that out on the athletic. Check the rest of myself out on thinking about thinking and I'll be back
spk_0 here next Monday night. Yeah, that's a really cool tool. There's a lot of questions that Josh and I
spk_0 get that are like on the fly trend answer and it's like so confusing. It really depends like the
spk_0 rest of your roster and all that type of stuff. But I do think like the best trades are usually like
spk_0 across positions and it's just a little bit harder to wrap your your brain around it. So just
spk_0 having some some math and like high quality rest of season rankings is super impactful. So make
spk_0 sure you go check that out thinking about thinking's excellent is Twitter handle also excellent. So
spk_0 we'll be back here stats versus film wise tomorrow got a lot to break down got my own model up there
spk_0 that you guys will have access to and then rankings for the rest of the week. So more teams coming
spk_0 back from by than going on to buy. So hopefully our fantasy scores improve. All right.
