I was pleasantly surprised when I saw Justin Field

so I had started in my fantasy football team

had had a good outing.

So I can empathize like giving up and going

I mean, I think in the second half,

They were pretty much out of the game by that point.

which, um, I'm not sure who woke up in a worse mood today,

I can't tell who had the worst weekend.

Or the guy that Mark Sanchez beat the shit out of.

He, that man beat up a seven year old guy.

That is for sure. Um, it's, it's, uh, I agree with trap of this should be rock bottom.

Somehow fine. So I do think that we're going to just,

we're going to be the six year olds digging a hole to the other side of the world, um,

and just keep going. There's, there, there is no bottom,

I think with this franchise, every week we set records that have never been

done in the NFL for ineptitude.

And so it's, it is broken.

It is a broken broken team, a broken franchise, one fumble by, by breeze

hall unraveled everything. Um, but it's not even it's, we are so bad on the

defensive side of the football that there's that even if, you know, Justin

Fields continues to rack up yards and stats, even in at the rate he's doing

in garbage time, um, we're, we're so bad on defense that the holes that those

guys are digging us into is, is, is not able to be climbed out of.

So yeah, absolutely rock bottom. Definitely wish I was, I was having some

mint chocolate chip with my kid. That would have been much better use of my

you know, rage quit in disgust at the half, like at the breeze all fumble, like I guess,

red run then. And like, I was just like, you know, why the hell did I start Justin Fields over

anybody else in my roster? And then like, you know, at the end of the game, like, oh,

oh, yeah, almost 30 points. That's awesome. So like, but yeah, those were clearly garbage time

statistics. And hey, I'll take garbage times statistics. But like, this is effectively like a

garbage time team, right? Josh, like, there's, to your, kind of, to your previous point about,

like, we can't be like, we, we're gonna get like good Justin Fields fantasy performances

because he's gonna run for 50 yards. Maybe he runs in a touchdown. Maybe he throws, you know,

one touchdown or two, as long as they, they allow him to start, let's say. But at the end of the day,

right? Like, it just doesn't matter because the defense just can't get off the field, right? Like,

they can't tackle. They can't do anything. And like, I just, I'm trying to rack my brain,

like, for most of my intensive fan hood, like, which, you know, I was a fan back in the 90s,

but I wasn't paying that close attention. I just don't think, let's just say, let's give it a

20 year window. I don't think I've seen this bad of defense in 20 plus years. Like, am I crazy?

This defense is atrocious. It's so bad. Yeah, yeah. He carried like, co-tight years, but that's

well more than 20. Yeah, so that's like 30. Yeah, so like, I was kind of dipping in and out at

that point. So, I mean, yeah, but yeah, like, okay, so it's like, we're going back 30 plus years

at that point. That's how historically that. Yeah, insert any weeks Travis ran about Steve Wilkes

that was a poor hire. And the scheme is brutal. And nothing seems to be working despite the talent.

We have it at least a few key positions on that defense, but no, nothing's working. And, you know,

yes, there's injuries. Yes, like having JJ out there would help the past rush. The past

rush is abysmal. But, you know, we've talked about this year after year after year. It's an

incomplete part of the equation. We either have a a past rush that can get there, but no corners

that can cover, right? Or we have corners that can cover and no one can get to the quarterback.

So it does. So it and it seems like we're right there in we can't really do either. And I'm really,

I'm really kind of perplexed why we didn't see Jarvis Brownlee this week. Yeah,

Marlott Imore was was pretty much running nickel. And I really, really didn't understand that.

Like it might be, you know, it's taking them a couple of weeks to get a handle on the scheme,

which I don't understand how that could be the case considering how bland it is and how predictable
spk_0
it is. But, you know, it just seems like it's it's very rigid. It's very bland. And they're trying

to they're trying to do what we've done in the past and operate off of talent and not out of scheme.

But we don't have the talent, especially with without Quincy Williams on the field. You know,
spk_0
we've got an interior linebackering core outside of Sherwood or an X-tier that's kind of
spk_0
filtering in and out. Tony Adams is shit in the bed. Malachi more, you know, would I'd love to see

Tony get benched and Malachi more moved to his natural place of safety. And then maybe again,
spk_0
Brownlee or Zaria Thomas in there. It just seems like it just seems like a bunch of tetris pieces

that you've got you've got all of these ways to make it work and clear out like 30, 30 blocks and
spk_0
like move up to levels. But like you just keep stacking the square block on top of the little
spk_0
the little one that's like the three pieces and the one in the middle. And it's like it's like

you're just playing tetris like a fucking idiot. And a lot of blot of shaking were chatting for

today. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Can we talk about block blast for a minute? I'm going to give you some

quiver stats and a seven. Yeah, dude. Oh, wait, what the fuck was up with quiver? He was trying to

commit suicide the whole fucking time. Wow. And people wonder why we're the most jacked up

generation in a hundred years. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, quiver was, uh, he was, you know, he was dedicated

dedicated to the grind, right? He was, I think you, you, you are right Travis in, you know,

some of the injuries like, you know, if, if we then, if we take the big, the big points,

we all just made the defensive terrible, the scheme is bland. And then, you know, you start to slice

that a little bit, right? We can carve a little bit into those takes with some of the injuries.

I mean, we are blitzing very often. We are successful almost none of the time. Almost never ever.

Every, every stat is showing that we are, we, we love the blitz, but we're just not good at the blitz.

And so, um, maybe Germain Johnson changes some of that, but even to your point, you know, a middle,

a mid replacement level player, um, in a, in a boring scheme, um, is not going to be that much

worse than a great player or let's at least say a good player in Germain Johnson, um, in that same

bland scheme. It's all coming back to Steve Wilkes, um, which is just perplexing because Aaron

Glenn is there alongside him and can speak the same language and hired him and love the scheme

and thinks and eats and breathes defense. And yet our defense is the worst defense we've seen

in, uh, in several several years. I, I, I, it is, it is mind boggling to me that we hired Aaron

Glenn, brought in Steve Wilkes with the talent we have or at least the names we know on, on our defense,
spk_0
and have been truly, truly, this bad. Nobody plans for hair loss. Certainly my long time neighbor

didn't. It's fall now when it's time for the baseball playoffs makes me think back to when he
spk_0
would have his Yankee cap tied on his head just to try to avoid us realizing that he had been
spk_0
losing his hair. We all knew about it, of course, and we laughed, but we didn't let him in on the fact
spk_0
that we knew it's too bad he didn't have hymns because if he did, he could have taken the next step

Like so after World War One, the French were so smart. They built this, you know,

impenetrable defensive wall, you know, system along their border. But what they didn't account for

was the fact that like Germany could just roll tanks through Belgium. Whoops, right? And then come,

like I basically go through an unprotected border that didn't have all this hardened

positions. And so like, right, so if you're gonna have a great secondary or you're gonna have a

great defensive line, like if you have one, but you have a terrible version of the other,

you know, like it's just you're basically begging the other team to carve you up, right? So like

yeah, last year we saw great defensive backs and they could just be run on all day at will.

And so now it's like well, we don't even have any of that. And we're not DJ Reed and we don't have

you know, safeties that are worth the damn most of the time. And right, and people who tackle

just like, it's endless. There's no, there's no no ability to get a stop, no ability for the first

And then like, and then he's not out there. So like, so my point is, okay, he feels great, he's a

dog, he wants to compete. Obviously, the team is not letting him compete. Like, I'm not trying to get

into a whole conspiracy thing here, but like, this team is on five. Like, I get why you would want to

protect a player like Jermaine Johnson from having a setback or a worse injury. And so like, I get

why you would be slow playing him from a organizational, hey, we're going to go down into the

VAS, right? Like, you know, take, we're going to go to bedrock here, like, to come back up later.

Do you feel like that is happening? It sure seems like this is happening, but like, it still doesn't

account for just the terrible scheme or the inability to correct things. Like, they should have some

fight in them. I don't know, like, are they just taking these marginal pieces off the board or making

marginal decisions about the scheme they're running so that they tank a thorn, you know, 0 and 17 or

what, what do you think is happening here, guys? Josh, why don't you start? I guess, so I would feel in,

you know, from week four, going into week five, I don't know if that's happening this early,

unless, unless, you know, great, googly, mugally and, uh, and Aaron Glinner already, you know, maybe

coming out of, are you coming out of training camp going? This is going to be a really bad team.

The moment a key guy goes down, let's slow play, getting it back in the field. You know, I, I guess

that's, you know, complimentary to Germaine Johnson, I guess, but, um, I, I also think it's just too

early to be in that full tank setup. Um, again, I, I, it, it, be things like if Garrett Wilson suddenly

misses a month and he's saying I'm, I'm healthy. Um, then I'm with you. I don't know that Germaine

Johnson is changing all that much on the defensive side anyway, but listen, the fact that we even

have in this conversation is evident. Instead, you know, the organization is in disarray at some level.

Um, I, I guess it's possible. It does feel early to me. It feels, anything before week 10 feels

early to give up on this season. And if you are giving up on this season and if Diana Rassini finds

that out and links it to the press, it's not good. Whatever it is, it's not good. Aaron Glenn is a

conspiracy theories or if you subscribe to, uh, full tank, if you, uh, so I'll word it fairly slightly

different. If you look at the blueprint, um, that he is theoretically following that I think that we

all, uh, said, you know, we, we expect him to follow. If you actually dissect it and think about

it that that first year in Detroit, they were O and eight. They, they started the year O and eight,

the end of the year three, 13 and one. Um, the improvement was the end of the season, the

improvement was the beginning of the next season after the drafts hall that they had. So I don't

want to say that it is a tankathon. That's why I'm, I'm sticking to the, you have to go into the

crevass. Yeah. To pull yourself out like they are trying to hit that rock bottom. That way there

is no way to go butt up. And, and I appreciate it. Not from a, a, a tankathon draft, you know,

conspiracy kind of thought process. Um, but from the, the, uh, you know, I've said this for, for,

probably since you guys have known me, like I,

we keep going into these years and it's like, no, we can salvage something. It's like, and I always say,

like, I just want us to suck for a fucking reason for once. Right. And, and I feel like that's

what we're doing. We're, we're, we're getting to a point where there is no other option other than

to be better. Um, and it's, it's just like when I bring in a, a line cook or a sous chef from a

different restaurants or I come on board at a restaurant. And I've got these people that have these,

these habits, these processes, these thoughts, these, uh, you know, tendencies on how they do

stuff. And I don't, I want them to do it my way. And it is a process of literally breaking that

person's skill down and then rebuilding it. And I think that, you know, I said this last week about,

like discipline is, is the hardest one of those things to change. And I think that's what we are

looking at. We are literally breaking this team in order to rebuild it. Like,

and that's like, Joe, we never done. Joe the kale from the bear. Like Joe the kale from the bear.

Yeah. Yeah. Only not in a verbally abusive way. No, it's, it's, uh, it's car me. It's car me

setting up the new system and the, the old, um, the older female chef who doesn't want to change

doing it in his way. And she, yes, you finally buys in. Like you can't, you, you, you, there's a lot

of points where you have to wait for someone to buy in that you, like it, it takes time for people

to buy in. They can say it all. They want like, oh, yeah, we're all bought in. We're, you know, this

is this, but it's like it, it literally takes pressure to make that dime. It takes, you know, it,

it takes a, a, a, but here's my question. Here's my question. All right. Like, so I want to leave

the offense out of it because like I think, you know, going into the game, a lot of people are posting,

like, you know, teams with the most rushing yards, you know, the jets are in there with all these

teams that are, you know, four and a three and one, whatever. And then it's like the day we're the

jets and we know what the fuck we're doing. Uh, they're, they're right in there. But like, so like,

I do want to leave the offense partly out of it because I really like what Tanner and Strangins

up to and the teams doing over there. But like, so my question is like, okay, in the case of

carmy, right? Like he, he was at, you know, one of the best restaurants in the world and then he gave

it up in, in your case, Travis, you are a James Weir, James Beard, not James Weir, that would be,

that would be amazing. Oh, it's a great idea. You're the world. We're probably in that

fricking blood sweat tears, mental breakdowns to get to that point of being able to, to have that

pedigree. And when I am with those people, they go through that in a, in a much protracted

way, obviously, I'm not, I'm not trying to put them through, you know, a toxic work environment,

but I'm letting them know that this is, this isn't the way. This isn't right. I'm making them question

everything they've learned prior. I'm making them question, you know, you know, they're,

they're own like self-worth unfortunately because, you know, you've got these people coming into a

kitchen or into a situation thinking, I'm great. I've done this. This was great, but it's like,

that was great in a different place. This is a different great that I'm trying to get you to.
