spk_0 I brought it towards the coyotes and I asked them if it was okay if I joined a spit check
spk_0 with podcast full time.
spk_0 No little bit.
spk_0 Ryan Whitney, you got a pink Whitney out there now.
spk_0 He's a man back or get that on camera.
spk_0 He can handle the song man.
spk_0 It's a full time member.
spk_0 Marley just got this from Chris Bate.
spk_0 Whoa, where buzzing right now.
spk_0 Sunk.
spk_0 What's up boys?
spk_0 What's up girls?
spk_0 Anyone listening?
spk_0 Holy shit.
spk_0 The NHL's back.
spk_0 Tomorrow night.
spk_0 Tomorrow night.
spk_0 We get this thing ripping.
spk_0 It's another season.
spk_0 It comes.
spk_0 It goes.
spk_0 It comes and goes.
spk_0 But pink Whitney never leaves.
spk_0 I know I got a show to pink Whitney.
spk_0 Pink Whitney.
spk_0 Thank you so much to show.
spk_0 Bank he shows the bottle.
spk_0 Pink Whitney just represents and this weather is not changing here in New England.
spk_0 Busy.
spk_0 It's friggin 80 degrees.
spk_0 It's supposed to be 83 degrees Tuesday.
spk_0 So pink Whitney continues to represent the summer drink and then turns into the fall
spk_0 and then turns into the winter and we drink it and we drink it and we mix it.
spk_0 Now we drink it some more to shout out the big bottle.
spk_0 Yeah, go like that in the waves in the waves on the ocean on the lake.
spk_0 Or maybe when the lake freezes over in your ice fishing, it stills out there.
spk_0 So shout out pink Whitney, New Amsterdam vodka.
spk_0 Thank you so much episode 585 guys.
spk_0 Felt like a quick off season to me.
spk_0 We're back.
spk_0 We're right back into it.
spk_0 Wait, it sounds like you lost your voice a little bit.
spk_0 You've been screaming?
spk_0 No, I haven't been screaming.
spk_0 I guess there's some yelling on the bench.
spk_0 Go skate.
spk_0 Shoot.
spk_0 Pass.
spk_0 You know, the things you're supposed to yell that really probably helped the kids.
spk_0 They have a millisecond to do it.
spk_0 If you yell it, it might actually help.
spk_0 Bend your knees, right?
spk_0 D.
spk_0 But down, chest up.
spk_0 But, you know, I coach with passion, but at least I try to tough weekend.
spk_0 Oh and two for the boys and then oh and one in the town game.
spk_0 So over three, but you know what?
spk_0 We keep losing, baby.
spk_0 Peaks and valleys, baby.
spk_0 Peaks and valleys.
spk_0 That's life.
spk_0 I've been telling this to people over and over.
spk_0 Peaks and valleys.
spk_0 I've been in some enormous peaks.
spk_0 I've been in some giant valleys.
spk_0 So you stay even Steven and then you concentrate on your job.
spk_0 You concentrate on the podcast and you don't worry about stressing about seven-year-old
spk_0 you talk you.
spk_0 Okay.
spk_0 So yeah, my voice may be a little bit a little scratchy, but I'm ready.
spk_0 What are the chances that Ryder ends up on a team that goes to the P.W.
spk_0 tournament and you're like, this is the tournament that I won when I played P.W.
spk_0 Hanaki.
spk_0 Those percentages right now while being quite a few years away or little law, little
spk_0 law, but it's not going to stop me from reminding everyone that I won that tournament.
spk_0 Keep screaming.
spk_0 He just screaming into him.
spk_0 You just got to let him know from the bench.
spk_0 That usually works.
spk_0 Just scream at kids.
spk_0 They really respond well to you.
spk_0 You talked last week about him throwing the pizza and then on the way to the bench as you
spk_0 were giving him the stare down.
spk_0 He's like, am I going mini-puttin with mom after this?
spk_0 Was there any pizzas this week?
spk_0 Any tough mistakes from Ryder?
spk_0 No, no.
spk_0 He's giving it his all.
spk_0 Okay.
spk_0 I just, you know, like you hear Matthew and Brady Kachak say a big wall, just told him
spk_0 attitude and effort.
spk_0 The only two things you can control.
spk_0 That's in life, boys.
spk_0 Yes.
spk_0 I think it's the only two things you can control.
spk_0 So my mom needs to say attitude is everything.
spk_0 I used to have a poster in my basement.
spk_0 So she reinforced the extra car, the extra wash and the car.
spk_0 And she'd also say, Lord, give me strength because I would piss her off so much as she'd look
spk_0 up at the sky and she'd make a fish.
spk_0 She said, Lord, give me strength to deal with the strength.
spk_0 You strike me as a kid, asshole.
spk_0 You strike me as a kid who was like allowed to have the like the bikini models, washing cars,
spk_0 posters in your room.
spk_0 No, I've still had one in his room.
spk_0 No, I told the story before like I got my hands on like a fox magazine.
spk_0 Like it was one of the like, you know, like it would always have like the center fold and like she'd have like the
spk_0 com target honor and shit, you know, but I would, I would have these.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 No, but we are, but I had these pull out drawers underneath my bed where I would hide the magazine.
spk_0 So no, there was no posters like that.
spk_0 Sorry, Hans.
spk_0 Sorry, Hans.
spk_0 Sorry, the assay about the posters.
spk_0 We're not previewing the Atlantic division.
spk_0 We're going over the best magazine issues of fox center, whatever.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Best center folds.
spk_0 Business top 10 MVP candidates along with his top 10 hustler title covers that were ever released.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 No, I'm celibate now.
spk_0 So I'm going to I just have to get that off my chest.
spk_0 You know, those are that's I didn't want to remind you because then it might trigger some old behavior, you know, yeah, that's right.
spk_0 That's true.
spk_0 That's true.
spk_0 But what were you up to this weekend?
spk_0 Hans more lacrosse more with the girls getting into.
spk_0 Yeah, had the cross, but no games just practice this weekend.
spk_0 Yeah, pretty low key though.
spk_0 Got got some stuff.
spk_0 Got the decorations out for Halloween, which you know top three holiday.
spk_0 I love Halloween.
spk_0 It's so fun.
spk_0 But yeah, got the decorations going this weekend.
spk_0 But kind of one of the last weekends, you know, we got something going on in two weeks in, you know, the kids look
spk_0 across the tournaments are starting up next weekend.
spk_0 So it's kind of the last weekend to really chill.
spk_0 Yesterday I watched a ton of college football, which is great.
spk_0 And then you know, just getting ready for today.
spk_0 What was the what was the highlight of the college football?
spk_0 Like what took the that archmaning kids kind of struggling a little bit.
spk_0 But I saw that unfortunately, I kind of feel bad.
spk_0 It's more Penn State.
spk_0 Penn State's the joke.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0
spk_0 We could get into the positive sides of Penn State.
spk_0 And we're going to do that later in the episode because we have a freak on our hands.
spk_0 We have a, um, a complete full blown freak.
spk_0 It was in my city in Gavin McKenna, who's not only nasty at hockey, which we all know.
spk_0 He's, he's a little motherfucker too.
spk_0 He's a feisty motherfucker.
spk_0 He's a fucking shit.
spk_0 I really like that.
spk_0 But the Penn State football team talk about a pathetic pathetic team.
spk_0 They lost UCLA.
spk_0 I don't think UCLA had let a game for one second this season.
spk_0 They were on four bus.
spk_0 Penn State was supposed to win the national title.
spk_0 They lost the UCLA.
spk_0 So all these Penn State people I see on Twitter.
spk_0 They're down bad.
spk_0 So it's on to hockey for those.
spk_0 And he's and they've also lost back to back weeks.
spk_0 Haven't they?
spk_0 Yes.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Lost a big game and then a bad game this week.
spk_0 So are they done like?
spk_0 Is there no way they make that top 12 team thing?
spk_0 Oh, man, it's tough and college football considering none of us know that much at all.
spk_0 I would say yes, because the UCLA loss will be that bad.
spk_0 Unless they somehow, I think they play Ohio State.
spk_0 I think that can get them back in the match.
spk_0 Maybe that can get back in.
spk_0 I could be making that up completely.
spk_0 But guys, I wanted to also mention my weekend last night was awesome because, um, you guys
spk_0 know who Brett Young is, country singer.
spk_0 So I think pretty up and coming getting bigger and bigger.
spk_0 He performed for the Thomas Smith Foundation, which is a foundation that it helps out people
spk_0 that are affected with spinal cord injuries.
spk_0 And so Jake Teebo was there.
spk_0 He was a big part of it.
spk_0 I believe he's part of the board of that.
spk_0 And they got Brett Young to come.
spk_0 It was at Park City, but it's your favorite spot.
spk_0 So I was right back there.
spk_0 I saw Jake there.
spk_0 There were when we were there for trickle-tip.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 And met a bunch of incredible people, Medicaid from situate, Medicaid that knows morals
spk_0 real well, that have had these just brutal injuries that and these, they're such reminders
spk_0 of, um, kind of resiliency and strength and attitude when we talk about attitude and
spk_0 just like attacking every day after dealing with the, you know, the worst of circumstances.
spk_0 So it was incredible.
spk_0 This Brett Young guy was awesome.
spk_0 He, I guess he was a big time pitcher.
spk_0 Went to Fresno State.
spk_0 Somebody's telling me blue his arm out, got into singing.
spk_0 He's six, six completely shredded.
spk_0 Very good looking man.
spk_0 Like I'm not going to lie.
spk_0 He went up on stage and like me and my buddies look over at the wives.
spk_0 I'm like, why are they all like taking pictures?
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Oh, I see.
spk_0 His arms look like the rocks.
spk_0 And I guess he was a sick baseball player too.
spk_0 And then now he just sings and just loves life.
spk_0 So incredible night.
spk_0 And I wanted to show, showed out that foundation.
spk_0 And yeah, we were talking a lot of hockey.
spk_0 I ran into a lot of people.
spk_0 How the Bruins going to be?
spk_0 How the Bruins going to be?
spk_0 I go to you might want.
spk_0 Now, might not want to tune into the episode Monday where we go over the Atlantic because
spk_0 I don't have many great things to say.
spk_0 Now, Geo, come on and he'll talk about them.
spk_0 And we'll get into all those teams.
spk_0 But the biggest news of the week, he should be saying, fucking tank for, for McKenna.
spk_0 I don't know how you're not.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 The argument is one guy actually, I shouldn't say I don't know how you're not because
spk_0 somebody told me how he's not.
spk_0 He told me it's just such a crap shoot.
spk_0 Tanking is such a crap shoot.
spk_0 You lose, you don't win the lottery.
spk_0 Boom, you get third overall.
spk_0 Like, and then you're, what are you tank again for the next guy?
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 And people are already saying that no matter what, he's going to the penguins because
spk_0 Mario, you guys know that timeline.
spk_0 It was like 40 years ago, then 20 years it was said.
spk_0 And then now this year it'll be McKenna.
spk_0 So I think I said that timeline on this show.
spk_0 How 20 years each, but yeah, yeah, show it all wet.
spk_0 Um, so I just can't get over.
spk_0 And I am so excited for the players in the National Hockey League.
spk_0 And all the young stud 16, 17, 18 year olds are going to make this league and build this
spk_0 league moving forward because they're all going to make a shitload of money.
spk_0 I saw 17 million dollars a year for Corrocopee soft.
spk_0 That is, that is like not only record breaking in terms of average annual salary and total
spk_0 dollar amount for the contract, but just more like a shaking of the foundation of the
spk_0 league and salaries.
spk_0 I think forever now.
spk_0 Yep.
spk_0 Your top dog, your top five player in the league, you ain't getting less.
spk_0 Now, we'll get into McDavid and him possibly taking less and what that means, but it's
spk_0 not going to go backwards, guys.
spk_0 And I was so excited for him.
spk_0 I mean, he bent over the wild in an odd sense because they had already told him, we'll
spk_0 give you anything you want.
spk_0 We've mentioned the blank check he had.
spk_0 So biz initial reaction from you.
spk_0 Uh, what do you think?
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Some people were saying, oh, this is going to age poorly and it's too much.
spk_0 He's bleeding his team dry.
spk_0 I don't agree with that.
spk_0 And you got to think too, like he wasn't making much money when he first came in there
spk_0 and he was their best player dominating.
spk_0 So he's got to make up a little bit for lost time.
spk_0 And I think that he's earned the right to get that money for what he's provided that
spk_0 organization.
spk_0 Uh, like, and also, I believe they're done with the Amnesty Bios, correct?
spk_0 This year, those are off the books.
spk_0 So that's another reason why they're not off the books.
spk_0 It's very low now.
spk_0 Like it's not a big hit anymore.
spk_0 If it is.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 So I think it's a totally fair number and especially for a team like Minnesota, where,
spk_0 like, who else are you going to give the money to?
spk_0 I don't think that they're going to have the ability to attract like, like big time free
spk_0 agents, nor do big time free agents ever really go to market anymore.
spk_0 And if they do, I don't think no offense to people in Minnesota.
spk_0 Like I don't think Minnesota is necessarily a landing spot.
spk_0 I love Minnesota.
spk_0 Like that way.
spk_0 I mean, if I had the ability to sign and they might be in my top five list, but I just,
spk_0 you know, and I don't think he's worth the price of admission.
spk_0 Like he's a one man ban.
spk_0 Like he could play with two average players and still help drive a line.
spk_0 So when you have a, like you said, probably a top five, if not for sure, top 10 player
spk_0 in the league and all of a sudden the cap's going where it is.
spk_0 And for what he's done there prior, including on years where he was making peanuts.
spk_0 Like now, now I believe he's, he's in the last year of his $9.5 million deal.
spk_0 So he's being paid appropriately as we speak.
spk_0 But I, I think it was a no brainer.
spk_0 And as you mentioned before, I think he knew exactly the type of leverage he had, not
spk_0 only from the owner's comments, but I bet you there was probably 10 teams that would
spk_0 have paid him what he just signed for it.
spk_0 If not more, I've heard of one for sure.
spk_0 I heard Philadelphia was going to offer him whatever he wanted and including like loaded
spk_0 in bonuses where it's all all protected.
spk_0 So good for him.
spk_0 An incredible player.
spk_0 And as we said before, he's worth the price of admission.
spk_0 So yeah, I mean, I don't know how you feel about this one, but hard to, hard to disagree
spk_0 with what they gave him.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 I just think it's a great thing.
spk_0 Like you both touched on great thing for the league guys getting paid.
spk_0 What, you know, you look at other sports, what guys are making.
spk_0 And I just think it's such a great step for these big dogs to get paid, right?
spk_0 And like you said, it is too like to be in Minnesota like Billy G's probably the best
spk_0 GM in the league.
spk_0 Everybody loves them.
spk_0 Everyone wants to play for them, but it is.
spk_0 It's Minnesota.
spk_0 It's freezing cold for seven months.
spk_0 Like they're not getting the guys that, you know, other teams can go out and get every
spk_0 year.
spk_0 So it's, it's one of those things you have to pay the guys that you, that you have, that
spk_0 you've drafted that you have and develop like, favor, he's going to be the next guy that
spk_0 gets a monster deal.
spk_0 He's going to sign a huge, huge, he'll probably be the, he got one.
spk_0 He got the big one.
spk_0 He got, but he got eight and a half wasn't it only a five year deal though?
spk_0 No, he's got, he's got five more years.
spk_0 Okay.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 I mean, like he's going to, when his deals up, he's going to be the highest paid
spk_0 demand.
spk_0 I'm sure at that time, like, because they have to overpay to keep these guys.
spk_0 Like, I think once guys go there, they love it, right?
spk_0 Like you see all these guys stay there.
spk_0 Like they love playing there.
spk_0 They love being in Minnesota, but it's, you know, it's a big number to look at, like
spk_0 especially us.
spk_0 Like we were in the league when the top end guys were making like six million bucks.
spk_0 So it's like looking at it right away.
spk_0 It's like, oh my God.
spk_0 But then you think about it.
spk_0 It's like, I just think it's so good for the league, so good for these top end players
spk_0 to get paid what they deserve.
spk_0 And you said it too, but it's like he brings it every night.
spk_0 Like he's not taking nights off.
spk_0 If he's in the lineup, he's bringing it, he's bringing entertainment to your cities,
spk_0 bringing entertainment every single game.
spk_0 So I think it's a huge win for both sides.
spk_0 And I really hope he didn't keep his agent when the owner of the team said, hey, you
spk_0 can have whatever you want.
spk_0 I hope he just said, okay, I'll handle this one.
spk_0 I know.
spk_0 God, I didn't even think of that.
spk_0 Now, he said no to the 16 million a year in Minnesota.
spk_0 I was like, all right, how's 17?
spk_0 Like it probably would have continued to go up.
spk_0 And the main thing, the best question I saw that was posed in terms of why it was a great
spk_0 signing is like, all right, do you overpay him or do you lose him?
spk_0 Like that's a no brainer.
spk_0 Like all of a sudden that organization, if he was gone, and I'm not trying to be mean,
spk_0 it'd be like, wow, like they're kind of a joke.
spk_0 Like they had this one game breaker that they somehow got in the fifth round, fourth round
spk_0 ever it was.
spk_0 And now he's not there.
spk_0 Now he that could have been up to him and it could have been out of Minnesota's control
spk_0 where he was like, I don't want to be here.
spk_0 But you keep going, you pay, you pay your superstar.
spk_0 And I think as long as he's healthy, he's a top five player in the league.
spk_0 That is a legit worry though that he gets injured a lot.
spk_0 And also how many, how many teams in the league were, if you take away one guy, they go
spk_0 from being a probable playoff team to a non-playoff team.
spk_0 And I would say that, that they are up there.
spk_0 Like, I mean, they were at the top of the league last year.
spk_0 And I believe he was hurt for a little bit there.
spk_0 They, not mind you, they had a lot of injuries mounting at a certain point last year.
spk_0 When all of a sudden they started dwindling where people thought maybe they wouldn't
spk_0 even make playoffs.
spk_0 They ended up scooping up the, I want to say the wild card where they ended up playing
spk_0 who the first round of Vegas.
spk_0 Yeah, the Vegas.
spk_0 So if they make playoffs as a result of him, then it's easily
spk_0 worth the 17.
spk_0 And I just kind of look at where he's at now.
spk_0 And then if you're an oiler's fan looking at dry side, I'll make him 14 thinking holy
spk_0 shit.
spk_0 That is.
spk_0 No, I thought that is not.
spk_0 I thought, I thought rantin' and Colorado.
spk_0 That's another one.
spk_0 Like holy shit, man, you could have just paid this guy 12 million.
spk_0 Now, rantin' and that's like, I think it's natural to be like, are you fuck crazy?
spk_0 Like you sign that deal and then you're all of a sudden like, wait, what?
spk_0 I'm a huge bargain.
spk_0 That's just how these guys are wired.
spk_0 That's how, you know, I think top end talent, not just in sports, but in entertainment.
spk_0 Like, you want to be paid what you worth.
spk_0 You see a guy you consider, you know, you're even with and you're like, wait a minute,
spk_0 he just got 17.
spk_0 I just got 12.
spk_0 So for me, it's more Colorado.
spk_0 You didn't want to just give him that.
spk_0 Knowing what this landscape of this cap was going to do.
spk_0 And this is the first signing of showing us that these new cap numbers, which I've also
spk_0 read apparently will be like 113 next year and 120 the year after where it was supposed
spk_0 to be 113 million in two years.
spk_0 Like, it could be even more than they're already saying.
spk_0 But by them coming out with the future cap for the first time ever, I remember, I don't
spk_0 ever remember hearing like cap in advance two, three years.
spk_0 That was huge for the players.
spk_0 That's how, you know, he ends up getting this deal, I think.
spk_0 I also, it's crazy how much more the agents and players are in the know as time has gone
spk_0 on too.
spk_0 I mean, there was a time in the NHL where guys didn't even know what each other made.
spk_0 And they wouldn't talk about it either.
spk_0 Like that, that to me is mind boggling where, you know, certain guys were obviously getting
spk_0 like big time bent over.
spk_0 I mean, the, the, the most famous one being, I believe that Bobby Orwell was offered a
spk_0 percentage of the team, wasn't he?
spk_0 In Boston?
spk_0 I think that's the story.
spk_0 Alan Eagleton, just a, just a dirt ball dirt bag.
spk_0 And I believe he never even told them.
spk_0 I mean, as we're going to talk about moving forward here, man, like even like, like Luke
spk_0 Hughes deal, the LeCome deal, like these guys coming at eventually level even have these
spk_0 teams by the balls now, let alone like hitting free agency.
spk_0 So just a remarkable record set in contract and also very, very well deserve.
spk_0 For, for, for Carole Capri-Soff.
spk_0 Yeah, it's not like they're just giving him the money just to give it to him.
spk_0 Like he's proven himself every year.
spk_0 He drives the bus there.
spk_0 He puts asses in seats.
spk_0 So he deserves every penny of it.
spk_0 And his July one every summer for the next eight years is going to be a fucking phenomenal.
spk_0 Yeah, we should pull it off.
spk_0 It's like, he makes like a million bucks a year salary, right?
spk_0 First of all, the whole year.
spk_0 It's like 18, 18, 18, then like 16, 16, 16.
spk_0 It's it's unlawful.
spk_0 Imagine the visors like, yes, you're the rush imagine the Russian parties.
spk_0 That guy's going to throw like, forget need in Putin's card.
spk_0 You're always talking about this.
spk_0 He's got his own.
spk_0 Putin's going to be using his card.
spk_0 So an incredible day for the.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 18.1 average of life first until 2030.
spk_0 Then it drops to 16 face salary of one million.
spk_0 People even cash those two week pay checks.
spk_0 You're like, oh man, you suck.
spk_0 No, no, you got to see the one that they sent me July first.
spk_0 Minnesota wasn't done either.
spk_0 Probably like just as important of a signing maybe if they're going to be the team that
spk_0 their fans hope they're going to become is is their goal tender.
spk_0 And they locked up.
spk_0 Philippe Gustafson.
spk_0 This is actually I think a very fair deal for his career number 6.8 cap it for three years.
spk_0 I believe it is G check out that one for me, but a monster goalie they got him over from
spk_0 five years.
spk_0 Excuse me five year deal.
spk_0 They got him over from auto a few years back and two years ago he wasn't great after a
spk_0 solid first year there.
spk_0 And then last year he was phenomenal.
spk_0 So I think they're looking at a guy who's going to keep getting better and then I think
spk_0 Dustin wolf this deal he signed going to be a hell of a goalie.
spk_0 But Gustafson's maybe proven it a little bit more and got less money.
spk_0 So like if you're a wild fan on that one, I think you're thrilled with the number
spk_0 that he came in at.
spk_0 Yeah, just more years there.
spk_0 That's probably why for the longer security for wolf.
spk_0 But yeah, I mean, he's he's worth this number an incredible goalie and and you know, yeah,
spk_0 it's I kind of look at him and then like that swam in category like a young up and
spk_0 cummer who's got jam.
spk_0 He's ready to be a starter and and you know, lug the mail for probably, you know, 60 to 65
spk_0 games.
spk_0 And he's proven that and had an awesome bounce back year and and the numbers tell him
spk_0 he's deserved that number.
spk_0 So it's good for many though, man, they they've solidified their goal tending.
spk_0 They got they got their defense into the future too.
spk_0 They got their they're forward of the future and then some great pieces around him.
spk_0 I mean, even like the boldly deal like that.
spk_0 That looks incredible for for he's a 40 40 guy, according to Billy G and really he's
spk_0 proven that.
spk_0 So just some some remarkable signings and Billy G has really, really changed the culture
spk_0 since he's been there and it's a testament to him and what he's building.
spk_0 I think Gustafson's at that that perfect age as a goalie like 27 is when they really
spk_0 start to figure it out.
spk_0 He's got a couple of years under his belt like that 27 to 31.
spk_0 They're like, I mean, you look at Bob like he's getting better and better every year.
spk_0 Like the goalies get better and better.
spk_0 They age more well than players do, I think.
spk_0 So 27 I think is when they really start to hit their prime and he's going to he's a huge
spk_0 guy.
spk_0 He's got good big D in front of him like they should be placed have a good year.
spk_0 I love watching them play.
spk_0 And it's a different story when Capri sobs out, but that that building's electric.
spk_0 We were there for the frozen four.
spk_0 We've played in that building.
spk_0 Awesome fans.
spk_0 I want them to do well.
spk_0 And the good thing for their fan base looking at it like they got everyone locked up basically.
spk_0 I mean, Tukorello has one more season and it sucks.
spk_0 He's going to be injured to start the year, but Capri saw a bowl the Eric's and act Marco
spk_0 Rossi.
spk_0 They got Felino three more years.
spk_0 They got three more years of training, two more years of Hartman, five more years of
spk_0 favor, two more years of Spurgeon, three more years of Brodeen.
spk_0 Middleton's got four more years.
spk_0 So they pretty much have everyone done.
spk_0 You know, we'll see what's he Buyam does this year and then what he would need next summer.
spk_0 He'd be eligible to sign it.
spk_0 So good job wild.
spk_0 Congrats to their fans.
spk_0 They got their guy.
spk_0 I was worried when he said no to 16.
spk_0 I'm like, he's probably he's saying no to that.
spk_0 Like he might just not want to be there, but he'll be there.
spk_0 And we get to watch him perform and hopefully the wild going to run because we all love Billy G.
spk_0 I want to bring in posh now if that man is around because the devil's they made news.
spk_0 And in classic Whitney mush form.
spk_0 I think I talked to posh about two weeks ago, three weeks ago, I said,
spk_0 Hey posh, what's going on here?
spk_0 You said he's signing today.
spk_0 He's signing today.
spk_0 I said, okay.
spk_0 And that day came and went and then weeks came and went and then I woke up and I texted the
spk_0 group chat.
spk_0 What day was it posh?
spk_0 This past week.
spk_0 Maybe Wednesday.
spk_0 This was like Thursday.
spk_0 Yeah, Wednesday or Thursday.
spk_0 The time was incredible.
spk_0 It was like 630 in the morning.
spk_0 You don't look like you've slept.
spk_0 You're celebrating posh.
spk_0 You got bags under your eyes.
spk_0 Jesus Christ.
spk_0 No posh.
spk_0 No matter what you look.
spk_0 Hair looks great.
spk_0 Thank you.
spk_0 I appreciate that.
spk_0 You look good.
spk_0 So I decide I'm having my morning coffee and how is posh coming into my head?
spk_0 I don't know.
spk_0 I said, fuck posh.
spk_0 I say, Hey posh, what's going on here with Luke Hughes?
spk_0 You told me 15 days ago, he'd be signed.
spk_0 And sure as shit, not about two hours later.
spk_0 You sent me Elliott Friedman's text.
spk_0 It was unbelievable.
spk_0 No, not even two hours later.
spk_0 Like I responded immediately and then we were beckering back and forth.
spk_0 Like heated beckering and like literally mid beckering.
spk_0 I got the notification that he signed.
spk_0 It was unbelievable.
spk_0 I started laughing out loud.
spk_0 I'm like, holy shit.
spk_0 I can even I can even ruin this.
spk_0 I can't even ruin my ability to talk shit that Luke Hughes isn't there yet.
spk_0 But they got it done, posh.
spk_0 All right.
spk_0 No, congratulations.
spk_0 Now I think that McDavid to the K HL take his more.
spk_0 I'll take that one now.
spk_0 I don't think the hoses are going to all be on the rangers.
spk_0 He signed the deal.
spk_0 I should have been your deal.
spk_0 Nine million dollars and right with the caps going.
spk_0 If he turns into what you've been telling me he's going to turn into,
spk_0 posh, could be a bar going to be.
spk_0 I also didn't say the rangers like this year.
spk_0 I said that that could be down the road too.
spk_0 Six years.
spk_0 Seven.
spk_0 We're playing fantasy sometimes when we come on and we talk about this stuff.
spk_0 Now wouldn't it be funny?
spk_0 Enjoy it while it lasts.
spk_0 Now posh.
spk_0 But let's say the years go by and they don't win any hardware.
spk_0 And fast forward six, seven years from now and the three of them are all sitting.
spk_0 And there's a big rangers banner behind them and they all got rangers.
spk_0 Here's these on.
spk_0 So I'll let you soak it in and enjoy it for now.
spk_0 But let's not discount that that could potentially happen.
spk_0 Sure, but you could use that same argument.
spk_0 Let's say McDavid wins five cops in the next 10 years.
spk_0 And when he's 40, they offer him 50 mil for one season in the K by that logic.
spk_0 He could still play in the K on the back half too.
spk_0 I love this.
spk_0 I love.
spk_0 Hey, don't look at me.
spk_0 I was down with the McDavid to the K and I've been getting all those bull cuts sent over to me.
spk_0 Yeah, I think it's a great deal.
spk_0 I'm surprised it took so long to be honest.
spk_0 Like, I don't know what each side came in the negotiations out.
spk_0 I mean, I figured fits he would try and get them closer to eight.
spk_0 Luke must have been trying closer to 10.
spk_0 But you know, I figured it coming around this number.
spk_0 And like I said in the group and, you know, I think for this upcoming season,
spk_0 it's a slight overpay.
spk_0 But then for the rest of the deal, once he kind of continues to develop,
spk_0 it's going to look like a steal within the cap going up as well.
spk_0 Just for what he brings.
spk_0 And you know, if you go look at NHL.com and you look at his points,
spk_0 like solid numbers, like kind of mid 40s points last two seasons.
spk_0 But that's him not even running the power play for the whole year.
spk_0 He kind of split the time with Dougie.
spk_0 So if what I think is going to happen and this is probably going to be Dougie's last year in
spk_0 Jersey, if you have a full season of Luke running that power play,
spk_0 I think his numbers are going to be even higher.
spk_0 And you know, another chart, I know you love the, you know,
spk_0 chart for the charts.
spk_0 But in terms of power play production, Luke was actually the most efficient power play
spk_0 quarterback in the league last year.
spk_0 And it was because he was playing second unit and maybe playing against, you know,
spk_0 not the or is that running the top top unit with the.
spk_0 I mean, the second unit gets like fucking 30 seconds at.
spk_0 But there are no second units anymore.
spk_0 Yeah, I think it's a new thing.
spk_0 Yeah, exactly.
spk_0 So you just said he wasn't running the first unit.
spk_0 So like where was him and Dougie?
spk_0 Him and Dougie.
spk_0 But what I'm saying is whoever was running it is playing 80% 85% of power play regardless, you know.
spk_0 But so yeah, in terms of points generated per 60, Luke Hughes was number one in the league last year.
spk_0 Lane Hudson was two.
spk_0 Quinn Hughes three.
spk_0 So he's very dynamic.
spk_0 He does have some warts in his game.
spk_0 You know, he's 21.
spk_0 Actually defensively.
spk_0 He's got some stuff to learn.
spk_0 But just with that with that big frame and the way he can move,
spk_0 I believe he was actually the fastest skater in the league last year.
spk_0 Defencement in terms of straight line speed.
spk_0 So the guy can move.
spk_0 He's getting a team around out his defense when they chart the miles per hour thing.
spk_0 Like speed burst.
spk_0 Yeah, Pasha.
spk_0 You've told me that you think if if full potential is reached,
spk_0 you think he's more dominant than his brother.
spk_0 Quinn at some point in the league.
spk_0 No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, I did not.
spk_0 I did not say that when did I say that?
spk_0 Chickles cop five days ago.
spk_0 I think I was there when you said it.
spk_0 I'm not staying out of this one.
spk_0 There's no way.
spk_0 I should not say that.
spk_0 Pasha.
spk_0 You said it.
spk_0 You might have had a couple in you, but you said it.
spk_0 I have one drink at Chickles cop.
spk_0 I didn't have one drop out.
spk_0 Oh, here we go.
spk_0 I don't remember him saying it.
spk_0 The tie is turning.
spk_0 We got Pasha stuff and went in a locker now.
spk_0 This is fucking nuts.
spk_0 I would never say that.
spk_0 You didn't say it.
spk_0 You think this kid, you know,
spk_0 when people black out and rage and then they don't know of no cool.
spk_0 What happened?
spk_0 You know, talking about the devils.
spk_0 This kid just, he turns into a mutant.
spk_0 And then at the end, you're like, dude, why is your shirt ripped?
spk_0 And you have a cut over your eye.
spk_0 Oh, it's talking about the devils.
spk_0 Do you think that it's just going to be hard for them to move off of Dougie?
spk_0 And if, like, should they not do it sooner rather than later?
spk_0 Would that create a little bit of like, I want to say a riff,
spk_0 but doesn't it make it uncomfortable?
spk_0 Where like, if Dougie's not playing top PP unit,
spk_0 like how useful is he at the money that he's making?
spk_0 Like he's making the same amount as Luke now.
spk_0 I agree with that.
spk_0 I do think it's risky because I think the long term plan is to have
spk_0 Nemitz fill that, like, that that right handed D-man shoes.
spk_0 And I think like, it's a risk.
spk_0 I think if they trade Dougie today, it'll hurt them for this season,
spk_0 but big picture will help them.
spk_0 But I think like, Dougie still brings value
spk_0 that right handed puck moving D.
spk_0 You know, I think they want to see, okay,
spk_0 like, can Nemitz continue to show what he showed in the playoffs last year?
spk_0 And if he does, you know, maybe they dish Dougie at some point during the year.
spk_0 But I do think like this and Dougie today would,
spk_0 would cause a little slight step back for a longer term step forward type of.
spk_0 Would you be willing to do so if Nemitz takes that step
spk_0 throughout the course of maybe half a year where you can maybe get something
spk_0 in nice and return for, for like upfront?
spk_0 Like, yeah, exactly.
spk_0 Yeah, exactly.
spk_0 Where would you, where would you like to add on this team if you can get off of Dougie?
spk_0 Elite Top 6 winner, for sure.
spk_0 They need like a talk, a Raquel, a McCann.
spk_0 They need like an elite guy that can just put the puck in the net.
spk_0 So your dream would be to throw the absolute bag at Kyle Connor.
spk_0 Uh, I don't think that'll ever happen.
spk_0 But yeah, like that kind of guy, I mean,
spk_0 ideally a guy with a little more size like talk.
spk_0 I'm trying to think of like a guy coming up at least.
spk_0 40 goals.
spk_0 I mean, I know Conner's not a big guy.
spk_0 I feel like he's a big game player and he ain't shy in a way.
spk_0 Well, I've a, I've a deli not a big enough game player to play the gold medal game for
spk_0 US to put a writer in over him.
spk_0 But that's a story for another.
spk_0 I'm sure you were cheering when Canada lost at the world,
spk_0 juniors in Chicago with.
spk_0 So now like what, what, what side do you want?
spk_0 Oh my god.
spk_0 What is that?
spk_0 This is getting.
spk_0 What do you mean?
spk_0 You're chirping US, you're chirping Canada.
spk_0 Like what, what, what do you know?
spk_0 I'm chirping the, I'm chirping the US management decision to scratch a 40 goal score and
spk_0 favor Chris Prider in a series in the tournament.
spk_0 They need offense.
spk_0 All right.
spk_0 But that's a different rabbit hole.
spk_0 So basically, uh, but back to your, your wishes for the devils as they get this guy locked
spk_0 up and you're saying now window began like windows.
spk_0 It was creeped open.
spk_0 You told me the last two years.
spk_0 Now it's open.
spk_0 So you would want like Tom Wilson as a winger for the top six.
spk_0 Like that's what you'd want.
spk_0 That's your dream.
spk_0 I would, yeah, I would love Tom Wilson, but you know, he's talking like size.
spk_0 I'm trying to think what you want here.
spk_0 Trying to think I think like talk like talk or one of those got like a big body.
spk_0 That's a sniper like, you know, they don't grow on trees, but I think that's kind of what they need.
spk_0 And also a 3c.
spk_0 I see Grinnell in the chat should trade for Geno.
spk_0 One of my favorite players of all time.
spk_0 I would love to see Geno slot in as a 3c there behind he's sure in Hughes.
spk_0 In order for them to win a cop, they need top six winger and a third line center.
spk_0 This guy's telling me he never said that about Luke over Quinn.
spk_0 And then he's also putting Malcolm.
spk_0 He's putting Malcolm on the fuck it doubles.
spk_0 I would say I would say you more need like I would say you more need like a like a Nick Paul.
spk_0 Is yeah, or like Ryan O'Reilly.
spk_0 I could tell I know they're interested in O'Reilly last year.
spk_0 I could see, you know, O'Reilly being their third c pick up off with through the year.
spk_0 But I never said Luke will be as good as Quinn.
spk_0 That's an absurdly high bar.
spk_0 That's tough.
spk_0 That's tough.
spk_0 I think Luke will be elite elite elites like one of the top puck Wimidim and the Lee.
spk_0 But Quinn is like entering like best defense.
spk_0 Now, has a brother has a brother has ever finished top three in Norris voting.
spk_0 That's a good question.
spk_0 I would be shocked if that happened.
spk_0 No way.
spk_0 Okay, hey, hey, would you be willing to put a bet with Whit and then we could talk about what it would be
spk_0 that at some point in their careers, they both finished in the top three.
spk_0 I'm certainly open to entertaining that conversation.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Well, this it's actually an incredible segue talking about bets.
spk_0 You know, Jack Hughes didn't get the hundred points and he's still owes me, but it's fine.
spk_0 We just have it running.
spk_0 I don't need to collect to this guy.
spk_0 I don't want to try to like.
spk_0 I know where this is going.
spk_0 So I'm going to hold it.
spk_0 Crack, crack, crack.
spk_0 Yes, there's another bet.
spk_0 There's a $5,000 bet.
spk_0 Quack, Quack, Mr. Ducksworth, the Anaheim Ducks,
spk_0 when it's Stanley Cup before the New Jersey Devils and the Anaheim Ducks locked up their stud,
spk_0 smooth skate and tall lefty defenseman with the same exact deal, right?
spk_0 $9 million a year for eight years, Jackson LeComb, the man that just playing on a bad team out West,
spk_0 no one's talking about the ducks to pass for years.
spk_0 And all of a sudden, it was like, it was like every two months, you'd start seeing a
spk_0 couple more articles about LeComb.
spk_0 And then by the end of last year, everyone's like, this kids must watch.
spk_0 And we talked, we talked today with our guy we interviewed, Matthew Nies.
spk_0 He will be on later.
spk_0 We talked about them.
spk_0 They played at Minnesota together.
spk_0 And he's telling us that this guy's faster than he is on the ice.
spk_0 So make sense that this deal gets done.
spk_0 And Posh, I had described to him like, I kind of like LeComb a little bit more than Luke Hughes.
spk_0 We were battling even a little older, isn't he?
spk_0 I mean, he is a little older.
spk_0 I knew you'd bring that up.
spk_0 I've got their under the hood stats in front of me.
spk_0 And yes, offensively Luke Hughes was better last year, but defensively LeComb was miles
spk_0 better, but like, uh, business at his two years older.
spk_0 So kind of hard to compare because, you know, one year for a young demon like that is just
spk_0 is very true.
spk_0 It's like a change, but very true.
spk_0 LeComb's game, I think it's a great contract for him.
spk_0 And the ducks have a very bright future, Ryan.
spk_0 And I think the biggest takeaway from Nies is just how much he competes, right?
spk_0 And he was with them at the University of Minnesota.
spk_0 And we talk about development, right?
spk_0 And sometimes these kids, you know, they go to college two years and then they sign the ticket
spk_0 and they're out of there where this guy ended up developing all four years at the University
spk_0 of Minnesota.
spk_0 So I don't know necessarily if he came in as this offensive player, but as he, you know,
spk_0 he, as he like developed his game and he was solid defensively, it seems as if though
spk_0 it progressed at Minnesota, he took on more offensively where you look at his numbers
spk_0 in his fourth year at Minnesota, that's kind of the guy you're seeing pan out with the Anaheim
spk_0 ducks.
spk_0 I mean, 14 goals last year, he six to two, 10, probably even bigger this year, probably put on
spk_0 even more muscle.
spk_0 Now that he's 24 heading into this, I mean, what's going to be a big year for him making
spk_0 all that bread.
spk_0 But when you are, when you have those types of numbers and when you're that dominant,
spk_0 when your team is young and not really that relevant, that tells me a lot.
spk_0 And I, I think you'd be hard pressed to find a team with a, a healthier, young core
spk_0 than what the Anaheim ducks got cooking right now.
spk_0 And it's led by him on the back end.
spk_0 They got the, the Russian kid.
spk_0 I always,
spk_0 Midna cough.
spk_0 Midna cough.
spk_0 How do you say it?
spk_0 Zellwigger.
spk_0 Avalmintnickov.
spk_0 Midna cough.
spk_0 They got Zellwigger.
spk_0 So you got three young stods on the point.
spk_0 And then they're also loaded up front.
spk_0 I mean, go Che.
spk_0 They got Carlson.
spk_0 Zellwigger.
spk_0 They got Carlson.
spk_0 Zellwigger.
spk_0 You went third overall where you got, they are, they are just so, so healthy and all.
spk_0 He's busy.
spk_0 I think he is like kind of nervous about this.
spk_0 And, and you laughed at me at the beginning of the bat.
spk_0 And now I could see you're like, fuck like this.
spk_0 These, these names are getting listed.
spk_0 I don't think it's as crazy, but bad as you thought it was.
spk_0 Never said it was crazy.
spk_0 I would say that like, it's the best team that you could possibly have in terms of like
spk_0 a young upcoming team to have that.
spk_0 I pick winners.
spk_0 I'm a winner picker.
spk_0 You got to be the one about me.
spk_0 You picked the Rangers over the Devils and the playoffs the other year.
spk_0 So I mean, whether we're talking Ryder Cup, Stranglers doesn't matter.
spk_0 I pick winners, Pasha.
spk_0 So I'm cold in life.
spk_0 Unless it's against you against you, I seem to have phenomenal luck.
spk_0 So let me ask you this, winner.
spk_0 Are you, are you walking back your comment about Lane Hudson not being invited to the
spk_0 US development thing and then Jackson, LeComb being invited?
spk_0 That's not a name I should have listed when describing people that were invited over
spk_0 him leads me into another kind of not storyline, but Lane Hudson because he's the guy that
spk_0 could have resigned that we heard about for a long time.
spk_0 And I know Montreal, if they said eight years at 9 million a year, it would have been accepted.
spk_0 And they, they, they dragged their feet.
spk_0 Now how can you take less than those two guys after what he just did?
spk_0 Uh, I think that you're talking.
spk_0 Okay, it's, if he again, if he gets 60 more points this year, how are you taking less
spk_0 than those guys?
spk_0 Yeah, but I, but I, I think that like if you, if you're looking for a more well-rounded
spk_0 defenseman, I think you're taking Jackson, LeComb every day of the week.
spk_0 I, I understand that he drives traffic.
spk_0 Like he's kind of more of like a Quinn Hughes.
spk_0 But I also think that Quinn Hughes is a little bit more rounded defensively.
spk_0 Like like, and I'm not taking away.
spk_0 And we're going to be talking to Eric Engels later on about Montreal and what he seems
spk_0 from him, especially in his second camp, right?
spk_0 Because he's probably been watching him under his Microsoft where like, are you, are you
spk_0 telling me that that Montreal has, has offered that eight, that eight year deal at nine
spk_0 million dollars?
spk_0 I know it would have been, it would have been, except you think he would have signed that.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 I, I, I think that they're dumb if they haven't offered him what those two guys just signed
spk_0 for. And maybe he's, maybe he's looking at it.
spk_0 Like, like you just talked about how now they're projecting it to go to 113 and then 120
spk_0 where he's saying, no, I'm just going to, I know I'm getting those reps and I know I'm
spk_0 going to be playing PP1.
spk_0 So I'm just going to put up 65, 70 points, especially for how good, young and talented
spk_0 Montreal is.
spk_0 And you could add another two million to that next summer.
spk_0 So my only thing is, is, I'm a conservative guy, right?
spk_0 But these guys are tapped.
spk_0 When you're fucking at the blue line and your last man back and you're fucking doing
spk_0 the headfakes and juking guys, you're, you're built different mentally, physically.
spk_0 So he's probably like, no, I don't even want that deal.
spk_0 I just want to play another year and then fucking bend him over for more dough.
spk_0 The same, probably the same way Bidadd's looking at it.
spk_0 Like I would be shocked if Bidadd wasn't offered 10 million in that last year.
spk_0 He didn't even have that good of a year.
spk_0 He's probably looking at like, no, the cap's going to go up as much as it is.
spk_0 I'm going to have a better year and then all of a sudden Bidadd's looking at 1213 year.
spk_0 So for Lane Hudson to wait another year and not care about signing what Luke Hughes
spk_0 and Jackson, the comb just got, he's probably going to make himself another 15 million bucks.
spk_0 I, that's what I think.
spk_0 Yeah, he could.
spk_0 So it's just, I mean, I, yeah, I guess you could argue that that look home is much more
spk_0 well-rounded than Lane Hudson, but when you look at that first year and what you think's coming
spk_0 again based on being a rookie last year, it's only going to get better than I would
spk_0 offer the eight times nine.
spk_0 So you said that as long as you could.
spk_0 And you also got to think if let's say Lane Hudson has a sophomore slump, like he'd probably
spk_0 still get offered that deal.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 So yeah, and that's like 20 points or something.
spk_0 You know, something just crazy happens, but I don't picture it.
spk_0 The last news, I guess late signing was Luke of Angelista, $3 million a year for two years.
spk_0 What the fuck took so long?
spk_0 If my business, if us three were in and I get you got, you got a scratch and claw for every penny
spk_0 on both sides, trying to build a competitive team.
spk_0 You got to use every dollar that has to be well spent.
spk_0 Us three, could we not have just been like, yeah, two times three dude, you're good.
spk_0 Here we go.
spk_0 In July.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 I would imagine though, like I think that Trots is a little bit like he's, he seems like he's
spk_0 all fired up.
spk_0 He gets very testy with the media too.
spk_0 I'd be curious to know what he's like to negotiate with.
spk_0 And then probably wants to be a little bit more conservative after handing over those deals
spk_0 to Stamcoes in March of so and then last year, panning out the way that it did.
spk_0 So, yeah, don't understand what took so long.
spk_0 Consolation prize though, he did get voted best looking athlete in Nashville.
spk_0 I think Pastor Leo sees on his team, which is that's up for debate too, right?
spk_0 So he gets that nom at norm, but doesn't get the probably the contract that he wanted.
spk_0 Hey man, bridge deal here and let's see what he can do.
spk_0 My only thing is he must have been asking for like a four, five, six year deal and they
spk_0 were like, no, and then they settled on two.
spk_0 But like you said, there should have been done July 2nd.
spk_0 Like, oh, I missed training camp.
spk_0 What'd you get?
spk_0 Two times three.
spk_0 Great deal for, you know, six million bucks, but it's just crazy.
spk_0 It's all camp.
spk_0 Keith, we can ask you about this guy.
spk_0 I've witnessed him firsthand just dominate.
spk_0 Uh, me.
spk_0 Signs in Florida and maybe the two craziest preseason games since like the 1970s were played
spk_0 between Florida and Tampa.
spk_0 Mikola was a part of it in one of the weirdest scenarios I've ever seen.
spk_0 We'll get into it, but he signs a big extension.
spk_0 Eight years, five million bucks a year, 40 million.
spk_0 The guy's been a horse since he came over.
spk_0 Are you surprised?
spk_0 Are you happy with the number?
spk_0 Yeah, happy with both sides.
spk_0 I think he's happy.
spk_0 I think the team's happy.
spk_0 I know they love him here.
spk_0 He, uh, you know, brings that size and and skating ability on the back end.
spk_0 Him and Seth Jones last year were great.
spk_0 They'll be great again this year.
spk_0 But I think he's just one of those guys that you know what he's going to bring every single night.
spk_0 What is army called the condor?
spk_0 Like he's just in the way all the time.
spk_0 I think his offensive ability, like watch him in preseason this year.
spk_0 It looks like his offensive ability is starting to come out a little bit more.
spk_0 Whether or not he does that in the regular season, who knows he's not getting paid for that.
spk_0 He's getting paid to shut down these big, these big lines.
spk_0 He's done a great job with it.
spk_0 Obviously winning cops, but I think it's a great deal for both sides.
spk_0 But I honestly think like his ceiling hasn't even been touched.
spk_0 Like he's, I think he's got more to offer.
spk_0 And maybe you look back at it in a few years and say it's a, you know, hometown discount.
spk_0 But it's also too like you think what three, four, five years ago when he was in St. Louis
spk_0 in the New York, like if they offered him a eight year, one million a year deal,
spk_0 he probably would have taken it.
spk_0 But so now it's like good for him.
spk_0 He's got his security.
spk_0 Love's playing here.
spk_0 I'm sure.
spk_0 So all around very happy with that from both sides.
spk_0 I agree with you.
spk_0 Upside on the offensive side of the pocket is what kind of stood out to me,
spk_0 especially during that cup run.
spk_0 I think a lot of that derives for Maurice, given him the green light.
spk_0 And it's still in confidence in it.
spk_0 You saw the one, I remember the one goal where he just got shot out of a can.
spk_0 And and jumped up in the play in the rush.
spk_0 And like you said, yeah, it's going back a few years ago with like St. Louis and New York.
spk_0 Would you have ever seen that out of him?
spk_0 He's probably being told by coaches, hang back, let your other partner go up.
spk_0 And if he gets caught, he gets caught.
spk_0 You take the two on one and simplify your game.
spk_0 So a hell of a deal.
spk_0 He's a force out there.
spk_0 And I think that majority, if not every single team, the league, he's in their top four.
spk_0 And you can't replicate that size, that length and how quickly.
spk_0 And also, is skating ability and how he's able to close on guys so quickly.
spk_0 I want to say they have what now?
spk_0 11 players walked in through 2030 at this point.
spk_0 Looking at it because they have five guys.
spk_0 They have at least five years more of Parkoff, Kachok, Reinhardt, Bennett, Verhagy,
spk_0 Marshan, Lundell, two more years of Luster Ryan and Seth Jones,
spk_0 Eckblad, Forsling and Mikola all for the next five years.
spk_0 By the way, their highest paid defense with Seth Jones, $7 million caps.
spk_0 But bit, bit, think of him on the pk, like Mikola on the pk, like he's such a disruptor.
spk_0 Like his stick is always in the way.
spk_0 It's so hard to get in the zone.
spk_0 Like those little things that you, you know, most people don't see during the game that just
spk_0 it pisses off other teams when you can't get in the zone cleanly.
spk_0 You can't get good shots on net.
spk_0 Like that adds so much to a team and what he's brought to this group.
spk_0 I think like since he's been here has been probably understated just because of, you know,
spk_0 what, you know, the other guys around here, but he's been an amazing key part of this team.
spk_0 He's the guy where you do the one-on-ones in practice where you're just crossing over the,
spk_0 the first blue line and he's at the red line and then he's stuck on Pock and you're like,
spk_0 what the fuck man, I don't think he'll do this drill.
spk_0 Like this bullshit.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Fuck you.
spk_0 He's got the, it feels like he's got the, the go-go gadget extender stick.
spk_0 But yeah, there was actually no better feeling than breaking up before it in practice early.
spk_0 It gets so loud and I did it like three times ten years.
spk_0 And we're, but we are going to dive into Florida or I believe maybe Tampa first or Florida as far
spk_0 as our season previews.
spk_0 You talked about their, their highest paid defenseman being Seth Jones.
spk_0 Their smallest defenseman is, is who?
spk_0
spk_0 First link.
spk_0 No, cool.
spk_0 Yeah, cool look.
spk_0 Off and, and, and four is like a bolt six one.
spk_0 And how big is cool look off?
spk_0 They're both six one ones two 10 ones two 15.
spk_0 Like come on.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 And the other guys are fucking giraffes out there.
spk_0 So they got, they just have so much size and yet mobility and take time and space away where
spk_0 this is going to be a force to be wrecking, wrecking with like people, people obviously you can't
spk_0 replace barcove and, and they will struggle a little bit with his absence, but I don't think
spk_0 as much as people think.
spk_0 And you know that they're gonna have other guys.
spk_0 Even this year, even like somehow this year, whatever they get knocked out in the first round.
spk_0 It's like, well, we still got plenty more time to get a couple more of those.
spk_0 Like they're just not going anywhere.
spk_0 Now, getting into the games.
spk_0 I don't know what, I don't know what happened.
spk_0 I don't know what I witnessed, but it was incredible.
spk_0 Like I haven't seen hatred like that in a preseason game in my life.
spk_0 And it all began when AJ Greer, I think it was Friday or Thursday night.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 He, I don't know really why he did it.
spk_0 Like he kind of bundled Hegel, then hit him with his stick.
spk_0 I don't know if it looked on purpose, whatever you can argue that.
spk_0 So Hegel's like kind of wounded and looks at him.
spk_0 Then he just suckers him twice.
spk_0 Now, I think Florida's just beat the shit out of everyone for so long that going into the game
spk_0 on Saturday.
spk_0 I don't know what was said in the locker room, but it began with a full on
spk_0 malling of Aaron Eckblad.
spk_0 Saber and Gozen straight like I assume he's getting suspended for that.
spk_0 Eckblad looked injured and then it turned into a point where there was three guys on the bench
spk_0 remaining for both teams.
spk_0 It's kind of weird.
spk_0 Like you don't want to see people get injured.
spk_0 Eckblad could be injured.
spk_0 Hegel could have easily been injured with the thing with Greer,
spk_0 but talk about hating each other.
spk_0 Like imagine the first regular season game these guys have this season.
spk_0 I wish they were starting off the season against each other instead of
spk_0 until like November 18th or something.
spk_0 Yeah, I think it's.
spk_0 Let it.
spk_0 Let it.
spk_0 Let it.
spk_0 Let it.
spk_0 Florida.
spk_0 Yeah, I think that Saber and Guy wit was already sent down to the minor or yeah,
spk_0 to the miners and they called them back up to play in this game.
spk_0 Like they were just like we're bringing in some meat.
spk_0 Pretty sure that.
spk_0 They called their cup team when we won in Manchester.
spk_0 He's a nail gone.
spk_0 He's a lefty.
spk_0 And yeah, enormous.
spk_0 Yeah, he's a big he's probably about yeah, like six one six two.
spk_0 And he just throws though.
spk_0 Like you know, those guys where they're like every every fiber of their being is being thrown
spk_0 in their punch where they're not aiming to hit in the nose.
spk_0 They're aiming to put their fists through the back of your head.
spk_0 That's how he chucks them now.
spk_0 The Eckblad thing.
spk_0 I would imagine that maybe is stemming from the way that he he hit
spk_0 a Hagle in playoffs and him knowing exactly what his role is saying.
spk_0 Well, if I do this and I go after Eckblad, this is going to be I mean,
spk_0 I'm probably getting called up for that November date.
spk_0 That's just more NHL salary in my pocket.
spk_0 So that's probably what's going on in his head and and rightfully so and the way that
spk_0 after he hit him clean, it was weird how he just went over and attacked him.
spk_0 But I would just imagine it was because of the Hagle situation and him knowing that
spk_0 it's probably going to benefit him financially to invest himself in this rivalry,
spk_0 even though he wasn't on the team last year.
spk_0 So this is this is not going to go away.
spk_0 This is going to continue to be ugly and get probably even uglier.
spk_0 And listen, this is what this is what I wanted.
spk_0 This is what a lot of hockey fans wanted.
spk_0 Like we talk about preseason.
spk_0 Nobody really emotionally invested and boring hockey.
spk_0 Well, that was not.
spk_0 And I want I like my hockey with a little bit of violence.
spk_0 I'm sorry.
spk_0 I don't want to just see fucking toe drags.
spk_0 And you say you even saw the other night with fetching a cop thinking preseason.
spk_0 I can kind of just twiddly do twiddly dumb.
spk_0 No, well, you're going to get fucking rocked if that's the case.
spk_0 So I think that the NHL is in a perfect spot of blended of violence and skill.
spk_0 And we're hitting just the start of a new unbelievable era of hockey.
spk_0 That's where I'm at.
spk_0 I love it.
spk_0 I love it.
spk_0 More violence.
spk_0 I don't I don't love it.
spk_0 You know, first week of October when the when the regular season hasn't started.
spk_0 Just because you don't want to see guys get hurt for regular.
spk_0 No, I don't want to see anybody get hurt.
spk_0 I want to see them punch each other's head in though.
spk_0 Yeah, you're saying in what you want injuries occur.
spk_0 That's just the fact like it.
spk_0 And I agree with you like that hockey.
spk_0 It's just better to watch.
spk_0 There's just there's just so much more intent.
spk_0 It makes like watching it that much better.
spk_0 But I'll admit like yeah, like injuries are going to come of that.
spk_0 That's just part of the game.
spk_0 That's always been part of the game.
spk_0 And that's why I actually like playing with your head up so important.
spk_0 Now both of those instances is kind of nothing you can do.
spk_0 Like I mean,
spk_0 Eckbad went to kind of stand him up.
spk_0 And he got the better of him.
spk_0 And then he's like, I'm going I'm going in for more.
spk_0 Saber and that is.
spk_0 So it did it did like get the juices flowing.
spk_0 I'm seeing the clips on my phone.
spk_0 I'm like, what is going on down there?
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 But I mean,
spk_0 why to get in the way of what why these guys hate each other?
spk_0 I'm just there with the fucking popcorn and ready to watch entertainment.
spk_0 Like that's just me.
spk_0 The one that like it's it's true hatred, right?
spk_0 They're both, you know, same state teams.
spk_0 Like they both been at the top the last, you know, 10 years,
spk_0 seven years.
spk_0 Like there's hatred there with these two groups.
spk_0 And you know, I think I think Tampa is looking at their year,
spk_0 especially with Barkov and Matthew being old for a while.
spk_0 Like this is our year to maybe get back on the top and in South Florida.
spk_0 But I don't think Florida is going to be a easy push over.
spk_0 And you know, they're going to come with some jam too.
spk_0 Did you see Matthew Samuskavic's interview on the bench?
spk_0 He was like, yeah, we're just going to win games and play hockey
spk_0 and and basically those idiots over there just going to kind of try to stir it up.
spk_0 And that's really the only way they can try to get to us.
spk_0 So I was like, okay, let's go, baby.
spk_0 Well, part of it is to like Florida embarrassed them in the first round last year.
spk_0 And everyone thought we were going to see one of the best series of our lives.
spk_0 There's five games.
spk_0 So it's like not only are they the two time defending champs and then they've owned you.
spk_0 And I mean, you had the act-blad head on Hagle.
spk_0 You had the Kachak hit on Gensel.
spk_0 They just they dominated them not only physically, but on the scoreboard as well.
spk_0 So I'm interested to see what this Samuskavic can do.
spk_0 I think that you know, I don't know.
spk_0 Last year you played 70 games.
spk_0 Did didn't play a ton in playoffs, right?
spk_0 The only one was it.
spk_0 I think it four games played in playoffs.
spk_0 I think that he's one of those guys that is going to take the next step.
spk_0 Just what everybody else needs.
spk_0 Another guy popping off of the Florida Panthers and probably signing a team friendly deal.
spk_0 Guys, we're talking about the best on ice rivalries in the NHL.
spk_0 I think it's time to bring in someone who is a part of the best off ice rivalry in the NHL,
spk_0 which is Biz vs. Will Seize.
spk_0 Give me a big, big, big, big, big, Seize.
spk_0 He called them little Seize.
spk_0 Oh, the disfers, but he's not.
spk_0 He's a son of a, I don't know.
spk_0 I had him say that.
spk_0 I thought we were homies, Abra.
spk_0 How you been, buddy?
spk_0 I'm doing fantastic.
spk_0 Man, you must be fucking exhausted.
spk_0 He's fucking here.
spk_0 Oh, yeah.
spk_0 When you had the game last night, Seize?
spk_0 No, I actually had to work unfortunately, but I actually had the game in the background.
spk_0 As I was talking to customers, I had to hold back so many times because I was so stacked up.
spk_0 No, it's crazy because I ended up meeting up with the AJ Greer the night before.
spk_0 He's like, he's all ready for the season.
spk_0 We're all ready for the season.
spk_0 Man, it's going to be exciting.
spk_0 It's going to suck that not having barcov.
spk_0 Obviously, we can't replace him, but I think we got the depth and I think the players,
spk_0 we definitely have the attitude and the grit on the team.
spk_0 And Matthew Kuchuk, he's going to be back.
spk_0 So we're wearing good hands.
spk_0 Seize, do you care at all where you finish?
spk_0 Or is it just what I've kind of been saying?
spk_0 Like they're all figuring, just get in.
spk_0 It doesn't matter.
spk_0 In years past, I think you want home ice advantage, but I don't think
spk_0 players nowadays really care, especially with this Panther group.
spk_0 But they're just so tight knit together and they really don't care where they play.
spk_0 They could either play in Toronto.
spk_0 They could play in Carolina.
spk_0 We saw it last year.
spk_0 We saw Tampa Bay too.
spk_0 They had home ice advantage.
spk_0 It doesn't really matter because we know we have the guys to get us to where we want to be.
spk_0 So yeah, I don't think it really matters.
spk_0 Who are you most excited to see as far as a guy taking the next step?
spk_0 We were just talking about that Samus Gavitch kid.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Is that one guy that you guys are excited about?
spk_0 Because I feel like the roster is basically the same.
spk_0 The other big ad who could help, kind of like they've done in years past with
spk_0 who's the kid last year who started as a Schmidt.
spk_0 They always seem to take a defenseman and they got a P-tree.
spk_0 I was going to say I think P-tree is going to be a key to our power play.
spk_0 I don't know if you guys remember a couple of years ago when he was in Montreal.
spk_0 We had like a career year there, right?
spk_0 So I think he could take the next step and he doesn't have to be the main guy, right?
spk_0 So we got Seth Jones in the back.
spk_0 We got Aaron Ecklady walked up for another six years.
spk_0 Four years, I think, right?
spk_0 So I mean, they got everybody coming back except for NationMit.
spk_0 And honestly, that defense, of course, just they're dangerous man.
spk_0 If everybody can stay healthy, knock on wood,
spk_0 I really like our way the defense is set up this year.
spk_0 See, the projected point total is 105 and a half.
spk_0 Only nine teams got 100 points last year.
spk_0 Usually there's some more that reach that point.
spk_0 Would you take the over the under?
spk_0 That having barcloth this year and now to check Smith's in a few months.
spk_0 I wouldn't be surprised if we're under.
spk_0 But like you guys said, I mean, I really don't think it matters where we how many points we have
spk_0 because we've seen how many times in the last couple of years,
spk_0 the team with the most points don't end up getting to the standard cup.
spk_0 So how much do we really want that?
spk_0 Honestly, as long as we get into the playoffs, that's all that really matters, you know?
spk_0 So as long as we stay healthy and then we get
spk_0 could chuck back healthy and who knows?
spk_0 Sasha really wants to come back and if anybody could come back for the playoffs,
spk_0 it probably would be him just the way he works hard and the way he's determined to
spk_0 to help this team, I wouldn't be surprised if that happens.
spk_0 Well, big, big don't call him little C's.
spk_0 Thanks for hopping on, buddy.
spk_0 Well, did you have a question there, Ian?
spk_0 Did you have one?
spk_0 I was just going to ask, I know they got the ring ceremony and the banner raising.
spk_0 I didn't know if are you getting a ring or are you going to be at the game?
spk_0 Obviously, you're going to be at the game.
spk_0 I don't think I'm getting a ring.
spk_0 I haven't been told, but I am going to be hanging out with Matthew on Wednesday,
spk_0 here at Kingswear and Florida.
spk_0 And then we just got a whole bunch of events down here that we're going to be doing.
spk_0 I don't know if you guys heard of bare knuckles ice wars.
spk_0 It's basically, it's such a badass event.
spk_0 Chris Tarion, former Phil Lelke Flyer hit me up and he's like,
spk_0 C's, we got this bare ice, uh,
spk_0 I bare knuckle ice wars that we're doing.
spk_0 We're coming to Amherst Arena on Friday, October the 10th.
spk_0 And it's basically MMA fighting on skates.
spk_0 Okay.
spk_0 You fight bizz.
spk_0 As long as he's in a wheelchair with me.
spk_0 You're fucking so.
spk_0 Let's go.
spk_0 I think that'd be a great event.
spk_0 That fucking place out.
spk_0 Oh, that's the last thing.
spk_0 I mean, I've been taking it up.
spk_0 L's lately.
spk_0 I don't need fucking big C's fucking dummy in me.
spk_0 What is it?
spk_0 Bare knuckle ice wars.
spk_0 Yes.
spk_0 Bare knuckle.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 I was like, this is career's documentary name.
spk_0 Yep.
spk_0 Since we have you, I was going to ask you about this rivalry with the Tampa Bay Lightning.
spk_0 Do you, you see it continuing to evolve?
spk_0 And they didn't really do kind of like you guys.
spk_0 They didn't weren't able to do much this off season because they pretty much have their group set.
spk_0 Do they scare you at all?
spk_0 Do you feel like maybe they'll have the advantage this year, especially with no bark off,
spk_0 considering how they deep they are in the middle of the ice?
spk_0 They might have the advantage during the regular season,
spk_0 but let's see what happens in the playoffs.
spk_0 If Sasha ends up being coming back towards the playoffs,
spk_0 you know, or for healthy bark off.
spk_0 That could be dangerous.
spk_0 But let's not forget who do we have on our team that we ended up locking up for six or four years?
spk_0 The arch nemesis.
spk_0 The arch nemesis.
spk_0 Radmarshan.
spk_0 I mean, what a great addition and for him to stay here.
spk_0 Now I know I was hearing towards the end of the season, towards the playoffs.
spk_0 He was a third line guy, but I think they're going to ask a little bit more of him here in the
spk_0 beginning just because we are missing bark off.
spk_0 I mean, I think not just him, but a lot of the players.
spk_0 And like you said, there is Sam a sketch.
spk_0 I think he's going to take a big step forward.
spk_0 He's got a lot of offensive power.
spk_0 He's fast.
spk_0 He's gritty.
spk_0 And I think his two way ice, the way he plays two way is getting better and better every year.
spk_0 And we saw it towards the end of last year, too.
spk_0 Big C's, be honest.
spk_0 Do you think Marci's actually going to play six years?
spk_0 Are you think they're circumcising the cap?
spk_0 I mean,
spk_0 would you put it past him?
spk_0 I mean, the phone and youth, the youth he's in the sun every day down here.
spk_0 He might play eight more years.
spk_0 If anything, I'll lend him my wheelchair.
spk_0 I mean, do you, my chair, are you open to some form of punishment if he doesn't play all six
spk_0 years in order to circumcise the cap?
spk_0 Are you open to punishment?
spk_0 I mean, but don't players do that all the time?
spk_0 They retire early.
spk_0 I mean, are we going to punish every team that has a player that's going to retire early?
spk_0 Sure. He wouldn't retire.
spk_0 He wouldn't retire because he wouldn't get his money.
spk_0 Sure.
spk_0 If we end up winning two more Stanley cops, why not?
spk_0 If he, if he, you're basically, you're
spk_0 you're
spk_0 I'm going to put the punishing them if he retires.
spk_0 I would have left.
spk_0
spk_0 I'd rather shock, crack, and ag on my head if he plays another six years.
spk_0 But I don't think it's happening.
spk_0 I think you guys circumcise the cap like you always do.
spk_0 It's right back to the no state tax.
spk_0 You guys just find ways to weasel your way into victory.
spk_0 But the cap is going up every year.
spk_0 I mean, you guys have enough room to make something happen.
spk_0 I mean, you guys weren't able to sign.
spk_0 We can't do it anymore.
spk_0 We can't throw anybody on LTIR.
spk_0 They already stopped that.
spk_0 I know.
spk_0 So I mean, now they got guys signing deals that they won't even end up playing out to get their
spk_0 fucking number underneath.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Well, you know, I've been saying they should have done that a long time ago,
spk_0 especially when Tampa wanted back then.
spk_0 So I don't really mind that because I thought that was kind of a disadvantage.
spk_0 So we just ended up playing the game here the last couple of years.
spk_0 And for them to take it away, it's okay.
spk_0 It doesn't matter.
spk_0 We still got the players out there.
spk_0 We still got Rodriguez.
spk_0 We still got Marcia and all those other guys.
spk_0 And don't forget about Anton Lundell.
spk_0 He's only what?
spk_0 24 years old.
spk_0 I mean, the kid is still young.
spk_0 The kid is still has a lot of juice.
spk_0 I mean, put Anton Lundell on any team.
spk_0 I can guarantee you he's the first line of second line center.
spk_0 Edmonton.
spk_0 Edmonton.
spk_0 I just put you in a spot to just dunk on me.
spk_0 You've owned me two years in a row.
spk_0 I just thought of what team they might not work.
spk_0 You still haven't, um, couldn't graduate like come to me and say hello.
spk_0 You were down here in South Florida.
spk_0 What do you mean?
spk_0 I'm still I'm yeah you.
spk_0 Didn't we see each other at game?
spk_0 No.
spk_0 I saw I came over and saw you.
spk_0 Yeah, this this was nice enough.
spk_0 I'm fucking got a season ticket this year for stuff.
spk_0 I'm in a locker.
spk_0 Either way, thank you.
spk_0 I really appreciate it.
spk_0 It a guys.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 How many did they give you?
spk_0 They give you just the one or they get your pair.
spk_0 They got me the pair.
spk_0 So we really.
spk_0 I'm fucking right.
spk_0 That's fucking go.
spk_0 So what are you going to do with the other ticket?
spk_0 Are you going to like maybe like pay it forward and maybe bring some fans
spk_0 from your podcast?
spk_0 Like are you going to operate your extra ticket?
spk_0 Sell it make money like biz would do.
spk_0 No, I'm not that much of a douchebag.
spk_0 Okay, a fuck you.
spk_0 You fucking cap circumcised.
spk_0 Back take them back.
spk_0 Take this again.
spk_0 Don't you you piece of shit?
spk_0 Listen, I'll get my.
spk_0 I'm taking those tickets back.
spk_0 You want me to get my tits done?
spk_0 Oh, okay.
spk_0 Get back.
spk_0 See.
spk_0 It's getting big.
spk_0 Sees with big cities.
spk_0 Big C's great.
spk_0 See anybody.
spk_0 Great.
spk_0 He's on those fake titties once more.
spk_0 Yeah, I was going to get see a big C's.
spk_0 These are.
spk_0 God damn.
spk_0 You see big C's you're talking.
spk_0 Stanley Cup hockey and all of a sudden you're talking about him having fake
spk_0 breasts.
spk_0 That was just.
spk_0 He also said don't hate the player.
spk_0 Hate the game right to your face.
spk_0 Biz when talking about cap circumcision as you call it.
spk_0 Well,
spk_0 I'm very it should just to hear what you guys think of Tampa.
spk_0 That's the next team here.
spk_0 Well, let's make our prediction.
spk_0 Like I think you'd have to be a complete moron to not think that Florida will make playoffs.
spk_0 I actually see them.
spk_0 I see them given the fatigue given how strong the division is.
spk_0 As well as the conference.
spk_0 I could see them maybe only getting a wild card.
spk_0 But if I.
spk_0 Gun to my head.
spk_0 I'd probably say third place in the Atlantic for the Florida Panthers.
spk_0 So for sure, no brainer there in the playoffs.
spk_0 What about you guys?
spk_0 Yeah, obviously I got them in.
spk_0 I got them higher than a wild card just because the additions that they made
spk_0 talked about.
spk_0 Petri a little bit.
spk_0 He's been a number one guy.
spk_0 All their D besides probably cool.
spk_0 A call of a Ben and number one guy at some point.
spk_0 Maybe Mechla as well.
spk_0 But like those guys know what it takes.
spk_0 They're going to have to win from the back end out.
spk_0 Like Bob's going to be amazing like he has been fun little fact.
spk_0 The backup that they get to Terrasov.
spk_0 Is that how you say it?
spk_0 I don't know.
spk_0 So his dad Bob Bob's favorite.
spk_0 Golly growing up was Terrasov's dad.
spk_0 And then Terrasov's favorite.
spk_0 Golly growing up was Bob.
spk_0 So he's going to come in.
spk_0 He's going to be trying to impress his goal.
spk_0 He may trying to please he's been over in Europe the last few years.
spk_0 So I think he's going to from everything I've heard.
spk_0 He's had an amazing camp.
spk_0 He works his absolute nuts off.
spk_0 And he's going to be a guy too.
spk_0 Probably get more games than maybe another backup might get just because
spk_0 Bob's getting older.
spk_0 But I think he's going to not a lot of people talking about it.
spk_0 But I think he's going to have a great year.
spk_0 Just a lot of stuff to fight for for him, I think.
spk_0 And then just winning from the back end out there.
spk_0 Deer are built to win games.
spk_0 Their forwards will fill in.
spk_0 Like we said it all last year.
spk_0 Like that third line is a second line.
spk_0 This year they're going to be a second line to start the season.
spk_0 We'll see what they can do.
spk_0 But I got them in.
spk_0 I got them probably I got them higher than a wild car.
spk_0 But I got them in and making a good run as well.
spk_0 Yeah, obviously I have them in.
spk_0 Biz that's surprising.
spk_0 So you said maybe wild card.
spk_0 If not third in the division.
spk_0 That means you got Tampa and Toronto in front of them.
spk_0 That would be my own.
spk_0 I have.
spk_0 Yes, I have.
spk_0 Okay.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 All right.
spk_0 Correct.
spk_0 Yeah, so Florida.
spk_0 I got him in.
spk_0 I got him in.
spk_0 I got him being top three in the vision.
spk_0 I don't know where to say yet.
spk_0 I think Toronto's winning the division.
spk_0 I'm getting ahead of myself.
spk_0 But Biz Tampa Coops team.
spk_0 Yes.
spk_0 And it's just a coup.
spk_0 It wasn't announced.
spk_0 But he has signed an extension.
spk_0 I talked to him this summer.
spk_0 He did let me know and he's like, don't say anything on the pod.
spk_0 And he says don't say anything.
spk_0 Yeah, yeah.
spk_0 No, I do it for my friends.
spk_0 I stay loyal like that from my close buddies.
spk_0 Ones that don't call me busy.
spk_0 He and and have a fucking T-shirt of it on national television.
spk_0 Bang and then bang my face on the drum.
spk_0 But going back to Tampa, I think the biggest thing
spk_0 if they are going to finish in that second spot in the Atlantic,
spk_0 because we all know the leaves are taken the first spot is Vasylowski.
spk_0 Not the best game last night, letting it seven power play goals or six,
spk_0 whatever it was.
spk_0 But if he can get back to somewhat of his old ways
spk_0 with that back end that they have that back end is on the back nine.
spk_0 They're not exactly spring chickens anymore.
spk_0 But with Victor headman, McDonough, Ternac,
spk_0 Raddish, they got some big, big strong demon back.
spk_0 Lillaburg is a big kid too.
spk_0 Who's this? Sorry?
spk_0 Lillaburg.
spk_0 He's a big dude.
spk_0 And that JJ Moser was good.
spk_0 I like it.
spk_0 It was really good.
spk_0 Fucking nice, dude.
spk_0 He is nice.
spk_0 And they got him in that surrogate chev trade where obviously they had to get some money off
spk_0 the books in order to sign Gensel.
spk_0 But I just really, I think it's a sneaky back end.
spk_0 I don't think it's talked about enough.
spk_0 And then you look up front, man.
spk_0 Like right now, obviously they have Hegel listed on the IR.
spk_0 I'm sure he'll be back ready for puck drop.
spk_0 And then once Nick Paul at Third Line Center,
spk_0 like that is a fucking pretty lethal top nine forward group.
spk_0 And these guys all know how to play with one another.
spk_0 They know each other's tendencies.
spk_0 Their power play is absolutely filthy.
spk_0 Special teams really.
spk_0 So I just, this is a well oil machine.
spk_0 And I see a different result even come playoff time next year with this group.
spk_0 So I got him second in the Atlantic and a no brainer for Koop and the boys to make playoffs.
spk_0 When they were when they were like going to the cup finals and winning the Stanley Cup,
spk_0 it was their depth.
spk_0 Like Coleman, Pat Maroon at the top of his game, Yani Gord.
spk_0 So Yani Gord's back.
spk_0 Right?
spk_0 So it's almost like, hey, this guy, like he knows how to win.
spk_0 We know him.
spk_0 He comes back.
spk_0 Yeah, a few years older.
spk_0 But then Bjorks ran to I think he was hurting the playoffs, wasn't he?
spk_0 He's pretty good when he when they got him over from Seattle.
spk_0 So their third line and then listed right now playing with them is Connor geeky.
spk_0 So I don't know if you see the goalie had biz that's been a ramma.
spk_0 He's like highly skilled.
spk_0 He's enormous.
spk_0 He looks a little like he's not the smoothest skater.
spk_0 But I think has high end skills.
spk_0 So if he took a leap, I really like this team.
spk_0 I mean, I'll never pick him again against Florida and the playoffs.
spk_0 I just won't do it.
spk_0 I did it this year.
spk_0 I picked Tampa, but I still think they're easy.
spk_0 Yeah, they're top three in the division.
spk_0 And then also when you think of Colorado and Edmonton and Minnesota,
spk_0 like you think of McKinney and McDavid dryside,
spk_0 a freestyle like, there's also the Kutraov factor.
spk_0 Right?
spk_0 Like it's now we've just become so accustomed to 125 points.
spk_0 Like ridiculous highlight real plays every single night.
spk_0 And in the top three of MVP, it'll probably be no different this year.
spk_0 So I like the team.
spk_0 I can't believe that was a boss move.
spk_0 Just never announcing Koops extension.
spk_0 I kind of hilarious.
spk_0 I love it.
spk_0 Just flying over the radar.
spk_0 I know.
spk_0 But the fact one insider didn't get that news.
spk_0 It's great.
spk_0 I do agree with you on that depth comment as well.
spk_0 Like I think that they're pretty stacked like that.
spk_0 Homeberg who was in Toronto.
spk_0 Like I really like the way that he skates.
spk_0 Like him playing fourth line.
spk_0 I think that's a great slot for him.
spk_0 Yandy Gordel get bumped down when Nick Paul's in the mix.
spk_0 Bjorks ran like these like having those types of names in your bottom six
spk_0 with that top six forward group is lethal.
spk_0 I mean, Surrelli probably probably top 10 defensive centerman.
spk_0 So yeah, yeah.
spk_0 Yeah, he's a selky guy.
spk_0 We're like unreal 200 foot game.
spk_0 So they just I just look at this group and they're stacked.
spk_0 And even that Gurgensen kid is he's the one that was in Buffalo, I believe, for a while.
spk_0 He's a good penalty killer.
spk_0 You know, helps out with the intangibles.
spk_0 So I just don't see a lot of holes in this group when they're healthy.
spk_0 And it's kind of it's also like Florida too.
spk_0 It helps you when there's not a lot of turnover, especially from the core group, right?
spk_0 There's not a lot of like in and out in and out.
spk_0 They're just kind of filling in holes.
spk_0 So just two two healthy teams in South Florida ready to fucking beat the wheels off one another.
spk_0 Yeah, and big thing to like I think Chernak and and McDonough, one of the best shutdown
spk_0 pairs in the league and you know, in that division, you have to have guys like that to shut down
spk_0 those, you know, the big guns in the in the catlantic. But yeah, like you said, like
spk_0 Brayton, what's a kutrov is one of four players to record 80 plus assists in three straight
spk_0 season. He would join Gretzky, coffee and ore.
spk_0 Coffee and ore streaks stopped after three years. So he's looking to do it for the fourth time,
spk_0 which only Gretzky is done, which is insane. Guess how many times Gretzky did it?
spk_0 12 13. But it's like to get 80 assists every year. This guy, and you know, we've had
spk_0 guys on. They talk about the way he works on his craft and getting pucks off the wall and making
spk_0 passes like he's putting in the work every year. You know, he's going to bring it every year,
spk_0 being the MVP conversation. And especially watching those last two preseason games, they look
spk_0 like they are pissed off that they are thrown has been taken and they want to get back on the top.
spk_0 And, you know, I think that I honestly think they're going to win the Atlantic this year. So
spk_0 already biz. I don't think Toronto's going to do it. So I think they're going to be a hell of a
spk_0 team this year and, you know, led by led by kutrov point and then the two studs in the back
spk_0 and headman to headman looking to have another 60 point season. Like he was a stud last year.
spk_0 Like not even talked about that much. But in all those guys too, besides, you know, kutrov,
spk_0 like those guys are fighting to be on the Olympic teams. They're fighting to, I mean, a lot of them
spk_0 are shoewinds, but like they're looking to prove themselves in the beginning of the year. Get off
spk_0 to good start. So it'll be a fun fun fun start to watch those guys and in Vazzy Keckin as well.
spk_0 And they have the, just like the sneakiest assassin in Jake Gensel, like the guy is just an absolute
spk_0 gamer. The bigger the game is the better he plays. So all of us have one Pittsburgh wouldn't sign him
spk_0 for eight times nine. Yeah, that's one. And now they now they're now they're sending graves down
spk_0 on that deal that they sign him to. Yeah. That is six year deal. That's a five. Yeah, I believe
spk_0 like five or six years. That's so far. So another as much as I wanted to put dubious back in the
spk_0 good books for the good deedy, do with flour and bringing the band back together. Now he takes
spk_0 another L. Well, we could talk, but we could talk now about a team who's taken L since 1967.
spk_0 That's Toronto Maple Leafs in Bisman. Say something to you. I think the bet of the year in NHL
spk_0 futures on draft Kings is the Toronto Maple Leafs over 99 and a half points. I think they're an
spk_0 absolute wagon. And I don't even hate the 19 to one odds to win the Stanley Cup when you're
spk_0 talking about value. To hell of a squalfish. No, I'm not messing but it's deep. It's heavier.
spk_0 It's great. Don't love the D, but they're not bad. You don't love the D. I don't love the D.
spk_0 Haven't had change over at least they're still the same guys. Like every year, it's like we need
spk_0 we need different. They at least have the same group. And Morgan Riley's lost a little bit of weight.
spk_0 He looks unbelievable right now. And he I believe is their highest paid defenseman. He's only
spk_0 making seven million. That's the one knock you could say about the Leafs is they don't have a true
spk_0 number one back there. But I just love how it's been distributed like the not only the money,
spk_0 but the ice, right? You got 10F unreal shutdown guy, one of the best in the league. I like the way
spk_0 that Ben was evolved. He plays a heavier physical game. I'm a cab like I love him. So you just need
spk_0 them. Those guys to hold the fort back there. And I kind of said what I had to say as far as my
spk_0 peace last podcast about guys buying in lock and install ours. The one thing that does scare me
spk_0 a little bit is the fact that I don't know when wool's going to be back. And I feel that they do
spk_0 a good job of splitting the net to leave. Leave it a little bit of pressure off of
spk_0 stallars and not having to play him so much. I think that the boys will battle their cocks off for
spk_0 Rimer. It was crazy. That too. It was over 3500 days since Rimer had played a game for that, right?
spk_0 Oh yeah. He's there so long. Yeah. It was a bit over 3500 days. And as they got beat by Detroit,
spk_0 the other night, he let that one in overtime. But I just like I said, I love this group. I think
spk_0 that they're built better than last year. And I think they're poised to win the Atlantic and go
spk_0 on a run to the Stanley Cup finals. That's it. Like I don't need to give the double wristers out.
spk_0 I said my peace last pod. If you want to listen to it, go and also I always get to like, oh,
spk_0 this much time of leaf chatter. We can fucking move on to our unbelievable interview with Matthew
spk_0 Nies. I don't give a fuck. I've already said what I got to say to a leafy triggered about the
spk_0 least. I haven't played a game yet this year. Keith. I fucking triggered. Yeah, I'm just I'm
spk_0 defending our chat. Yeah, he gave you a compliment and you're yelling at him. No, no, I'm not talking
spk_0 to him. I'm talking to the fucking 80. You're talking to the voices inside your head.
spk_0 Who's talk about the Leafs? Actually, to be quite frank, we didn't talk fucking at all last season
spk_0 about the Leafs during the year. You did on TNT. That's it. What do you what maybe when they were on
spk_0 the broadcast and I had to or I think it was more the candles and the Leafs like that might have
spk_0 added to the displeasure. I don't talk about them until it's playoff time. When it's playoff time,
spk_0 now we're playing for keeps. That's when I'm going to chime in and be my obnoxious idiot leaf
spk_0 fandom guy. Okay. And that's fine. And I deserve to do that just like Yanz was for the fucking Florida
spk_0 Panthers, the Cat Lanark. Could you imagine me calling the the the Leaf Atlantic? Well, they
spk_0 imagine the the uproar on this podcast if I said that. I could. And they wanted to
spk_0 I. Biz right now they got they got Don't Me and knives with Matthews, whether that stays
spk_0 in our but I actually loved that line. Like I think I don't think he's going to lose value
spk_0 in points and goals and stuff like those guys are going to get him the pop like he needs guys like
spk_0 that. As far as who we talked about Matthews. What's it? Don't me just kind of get on the
spk_0 forecheck and he's going to make sure he gets the puck, right? And then and then knives is going to
spk_0 go to the front of the net. So you have a perfect mix of everything. If you need a guy who's going to
spk_0 be able to make more plays and maybe better off with zone entries in rushes and has a little
spk_0 bit more skill offensively. You're looking at Matthias Michele, but the fact that you can kind of
spk_0 mix them up and down the lineup. It's great. Let's see who has the most chemistry and and let him
spk_0 roll, baby. But you know, what do you guys think about the Leafs? I like their squad dude this
spk_0 year. I think they're nice. I think it could be a little awkward getting used to not have a
spk_0 Neelander set in like for Matthews that could be weird. The power clip power power play might
spk_0 maybe take a little longer to get going. But these are just guesses. Just it is a big loss. You
spk_0 lose one in your top, you know, three offensive players that is like a game breaker. I think it
spk_0 could be a little different. But Nyes is going to take a probably another step. And Neelander's
spk_0 unincredible. Matthews is probably going to pop off this year. If he's able to stay healthy, like
spk_0 the noise of his game not being with McDavid and Matthew. I mean, it's you, McDavid and McKinnon.
spk_0 I think that they still have so much firepower there that with the depth and like,
spk_0 Waw and Joshua, they're really well-rounded team. When I said the D, I don't love. I think
spk_0 Florida has three guys that be the number one on Toronto. So you go ahead to head. But they took
spk_0 them to seven. They were the only team to take them to seven. And they were up to oh. So
spk_0 they have a very good team. I think I think a lot of people also get wrapped up in Matthews
spk_0 returning to like the, you know, the 69 goal cat like at top echelon goal, top echelon goal score.
spk_0 He is coming and healthy. I mean, last year the back was if I think it was nagging him and bothering
spk_0 him. I'm not so concerned about him scoring 60 65 goals. Like I personally don't give a fuck.
spk_0 As long as he stays healthy, the ice times being distributed perfectly and he's playing a great
spk_0 200 foot game. If he has 35 40 goals, I'm happy. So everyone's just like, oh, what's wrong with him?
spk_0 What's wrong with him? It's like, man, he's not going to score at a fucking 70 goal clip every season.
spk_0 I care about him playing like on Zaykopatar. I've carried him up playing like Sasha Barkov. That's
spk_0 all he gives a fuck about. So people need to stop worrying about him, you know, although he still
spk_0 is on a better pace to beat Alex O'Manders, Alexander Ovechkin's record. But I mentioned that.
spk_0 I mentioned that last pod. I still think that there's a lot more things to his game that are just
spk_0 as important as him putting the puck of that. Okay. And I'll say if he does what you're talking about
spk_0 staying healthy, being the most important and just playing well-rounded hockey, I think the minimum
spk_0 he would get is 45 goals. Like he's that good. He's still going to get 90 to 105 points with over 40 goals.
spk_0 So the guys of machine, yeah, I think that's the perfect time to throw it to our interview.
spk_0 Matthew Nies and I know sometimes current players, they're just, they're younger. They don't have
spk_0 a ton to say. Like they're not going to really like have, I'd say the chillest conversations,
spk_0 just because they're worried about what they what they may say and Nies wasn't like that at all.
spk_0 I think he really opened up with us. I think it's right around an hour. Great dude. And
spk_0 talking to him was a blast. So I'm a big fan. I think everyone will be after listening to this.
spk_0 Matthew Nies.

spk_0 May beliefs star forward who just signed a 46 and a half million dollar hometown discount you
spk_0 nice. What's going on? I'm doing well. How are you guys? We're great. And I guess we're curious.
spk_0 I mean, camps going now, buddy. How excited are you for this season? It's been a crazy kind of
spk_0 off season for the leaves. Mariner's gone, but it must be nice just like back on the ice with the
spk_0 boys and everything's going now. Yeah, I mean, it was first day of training camp today.
spk_0 Yeah, everyone's really fired up to be back. See some new faces in the locker room.
spk_0 Yeah, it's really cool to be back. Which chief saying he didn't want the core four language
spk_0 anymore. We're throwing that out the window. We're actually hand that over to Whits team.
spk_0 They got the new core four. Yeah, I mean, he was just saying how competitive camp was, you know,
spk_0 I think we got a lot of bodies right now and everyone's kind of fighting for their spot. And
spk_0 yeah, it was a hard day today. You know, it was a lot of one on one and two on two battles and
spk_0 stuff. So it was a challenging day. But yeah, I think as a message is pretty clear that it's
spk_0 it's going to be hard to make it and we want to make a great team and kind of build an identity
spk_0 pretty quick. Personally, for yourself, anything this year, you worked on over the summer that we
spk_0 should look forward to seeing at the start of camp from you. And as we get into the regular season.
spk_0 Honestly, just by overall game, really, there's a lot I could work on. First skating, one point,
spk_0 I think the game just got so fast nowadays. And I think guys can move so well or so agile.
spk_0 And obviously, I'm chasing a lot of D on the four checks. So the better I can get to
spk_0 disgating in general is going to help me. Last for that, you know, everything in my game,
spk_0 just my consistency overall, I think is I try to improve on. So yeah, I think those,
spk_0 those men, those are my main focuses for the year.
spk_0 Nice. Yeah, I was talking to a donor and you're built like a brick shithouse as it is.
spk_0 He was saying you gained even a little bit more muscle over this offseason. So what is a guy
spk_0 like you coming in way in at? Yeah, I think I'm right around 230 to 35 kind of changes. But yeah,
spk_0 it's, yeah, it's heavy. It's, it comes naturally though. You know, the more I work out, I think during
spk_0 the summer and I think I kind of slimmed, slimmed down as we skate a little bit more here. But
spk_0 I was telling him that he, he slimmed down a little bit and now he looks a little bit more like me
spk_0 because this, he was, he was even bigger than I was. So he's, he's pretty wide. You're, you're
spk_0 talking about donor. Yeah, a big donor. He, he was a tank when he played. You couldn't move him
spk_0 from the net front. So like having a guy like that around, do you talk, I mean, I'm sure you watched
spk_0 him growing up, growing up in Phoenix. Did you, you talked to him a lot and try to emulate a lot of
spk_0 what he brought to the game because he was a madman on the four check great net front presence. So
spk_0 how often do you get to communicate with him about your game and what you bring? Yeah, I mean,
spk_0 it's pretty nice having him, you know, be at every game and watch it. I mean, he's been behind the
spk_0 bench since I've been 12 years old, 13 years old. So he knows me inside and out, you know, as,
spk_0 as a person as well. So it's really nice to have him and just be able to pick his brain. And
spk_0 obviously, I think we have a very similar playing style. You know, I think we're obviously big players
spk_0 that are very physical and love to play around the net and stuff like that. So it's pretty nice
spk_0 having an experienced guy like that who's a veteran who can just tell me on after a game, what he
spk_0 thought, you know, his, what I was doing good, what I was doing bad and it's, it's pretty nice to
spk_0 have someone that's obviously always in my corner and pretty unbiased and, you know, it knows what I
spk_0 can do, knows my expectations for myself. So yeah, he's been obviously a huge, huge part of it here.
spk_0 Yeah. So the, the non-leafs, jock, sniffers out there, they may not know every little thing about
spk_0 you, but you grew up playing with Josh Dohn out in Arizona. And I, I was deep diving into your stats
spk_0 and everything. And I saw you playing a Quebec Peeley tournament with him, which, you know, Ryan
spk_0 Whitney is a champion of that. But the year before you played for Bratislava Slovakian there. And
spk_0 then I think your father might be Slovakian. Can you talk to us about how that all came about in
spk_0 in your Slovakian heritage? Yeah. So both my parents actually grew up in Slovakia. So I was the
spk_0 only one in my family born in the States. So I have a dual citizenship. And, uh, yeah, I mean,
spk_0 I go back there every now and then and see, see my relatives and stuff. And, um, yeah, it's pretty
spk_0 cool. You know, I think when I go back there, there's no English being spoken. I'm pretty,
spk_0 pretty bad at Slovakian. I have it a little bit, but my parents were completely slow on and so
spk_0 with my older brother. So I'm kind of the only one in the, in the family, you know, the odd
spk_0 mind out that doesn't really notice if you could tell well. So it's kind of weird. What made
spk_0 your parents move over here? My dad got a job transfer from Honeywell. He was an engineer there,
spk_0 and he got an opportunity to go to either Detroit or Arizona. And he chose Arizona for the weather.
spk_0 So smart man. One of the veterans. One of the veterans.
spk_0 He speak English before he came. Like was he always fluent in English? Yeah, they spoke a little bit.
spk_0 They spoke a little bit. They learned it in school. Um, they weren't, they weren't too fluent.
spk_0 I mean, if you talk to them now, they have pretty heavy accents. So you can tell right away. You
spk_0 think they're, you know, possibly Russian, just how heavy their, their accents are. But yeah,
spk_0 they're good now. And I'm not really sure to be honest how, how well they were, but I think
spk_0 that they knew definitely enough to, to make, uh, make their way around. We're about since Slovakia,
spk_0 because I played under 18 there in Brata Slava. Yeah. Yeah. That's where they grew up. Yeah.
spk_0 Right downtown. It's beautiful there. That's unreal. It's really good.
spk_0 So I think all the dads in the phone are so over because we went there for under 18. And they were,
spk_0 I think it was like 15 cents for a beer at the time. So we get done our games and are all
spk_0 over old now would just be swashed up. No, I know. I know. The beer is a lot better over there.
spk_0 Same with the Czech beer. My, uh, my dad always introduced me to that. That was,
spk_0 Czech beer is a lot better. He can actually, you know, your stomach doesn't feel like shit when
spk_0 you're having those. So it's a lot better over there. Do you often travel back like in the summertime?
spk_0 You guys always take a family vacation to go see all your relatives and stuff. Yeah. My, my older
spk_0 brother actually like he, he's been living in Europe for the past six, seven months and then he's,
spk_0 he's been spending his time over there. My parents go back, I think every six months. I try to go
spk_0 back once a summer. I couldn't this summer just because of all, you know, jam packed. Everything
spk_0 was with, you know, weddings and stuff. But yeah, usually I go back for two weeks in the summer and
spk_0 just because all my grandparents and everything and my cousins live over there. So to go see them.
spk_0 And yeah, it's, it's a wonderful time. You know, it's right in the middle of Europe. So you can
spk_0 always take a trip and back back somewhere else. So yeah, it's, it's cool that I have that
spk_0 unique experience. Did your dad play hockey? Was he into it over there? He played like
spk_0 professional like street hockey or like the ball hockey? I don't know if you ever seen that. Oh,
spk_0 we heard the checklets cup. Yeah. Yeah, you guys know. But I think he, he was like, I don't know if
spk_0 it was like semi professional, but I think he did like, there was like the world championships.
spk_0 And it was like, he played for like teams, Slovakia, but he played like men's league on the ice. But
spk_0 I think that was like his, his only competitive is, it was like the ball hockey. I don't even know
spk_0 if it's ball hockey or street hockey, what they call it, but yeah, he did that. We, we talk often
spk_0 about like how teams go to non-traditional locations like the coyotes ending up in, in Phoenix from,
spk_0 from Winnipeg. Now that probably had a lot to do with you starting to play minor hockey in Arizona.
spk_0 Like how, like how did you get your start in Arizona? Like what finally got you on the ice?
spk_0 Yeah, my, my, my mom's, my mom's dad played hockey and sort of like it was kind of in my family.
spk_0 And my dad just took us to coyotes games when we were younger. Me and my, my older brother and
spk_0 we went to like the, honestly, it was like 2011 or 2012, like the White Out Games when you guys,
spk_0 when the Yoast were in the playoffs. And it was like, it was the coolest atmosphere ever. Like,
spk_0 it was, like I couldn't believe it. And then from then on, I was like, I have to play hockey and
spk_0 my older brother did it. And I kind of just wanted to follow whatever he did and try to be better at
spk_0 him or better than him at it. And yeah, I kind of just took off from there and I got into the ice
spk_0 10 program. And yeah, it was, it was a lot of fun. The best everybody saw a business. I got to play
spk_0 on this show. Yeah, sitting there as the grocery store. No, not, not even, buddy. That was the,
spk_0 that when we played Chicago in the first round. Yeah. And then I, I lined up next to Bolig. I played
spk_0 one second and I didn't do my tie down and then I got kicked out. So we were down to 11 forward.
spk_0 So I guess you could say I helped them get past the Chicago Black Hawks by taking myself off the ice
spk_0 and out of the game. But that was pretty much the extent of my playoff experience that season.
spk_0 I mean, that team was like one of the grittiest teams I've ever seen. If you look back at that line
spk_0 up, it's some of the biggest and meanest boys that I loved it. Like it was, it was so fun to watch.
spk_0 Biz, was that the series Torres knocked those? Yeah. Yeah. What did you make of that when you saw it?
spk_0 What was your opinion when all that went down? There was a lot of drama. Yeah. I don't really know.
spk_0 I think I was pretty young at the time. So to me, it was like, I didn't even want to see the hit.
spk_0 I was like, that was outrageous. But Marian Hoaster was one of my, honestly, my childhood favorite
spk_0 players. He was Slovakian. So my parents loved him. So we were a little bit, we were kind of torn.
spk_0 We love the coyotes. We loved Hoaster. So we didn't really know what to think. But I think I was a
spk_0 little bit too young that I was like, I try to not watch that clip. It was one of those things that
spk_0 you couldn't keep your head off of it because it was so crazy. And I was just going to ask you a
spk_0 boat. So Austin Matthews probably, I've what, like three, four years older than you, maybe a little bit.
spk_0 Did you know about him growing up there? Like, had you heard about him at that time when you started
spk_0 playing? Yeah. Yeah. So my older brother Phil, he actually played with him for about, I want to say
spk_0 two, three years, he was a year younger, but they kind of mixed, mixed age groups at that, at that
spk_0 time. And we had the same skating coach in the summer of that, Boris. So we, we would skate together.
spk_0 Every now and then in the summer. So I knew of him. And then I was kind of when he got to the
spk_0 program that we, he really started to take off. And then, yeah, I think it's, it was crazy to see,
spk_0 you know, I kind of knew him a little bit before he got all the, you know, the hype and everything
spk_0 and going first overall and going to the Leafs. And so it was, it was crazy to see both sides of that,
spk_0 you know, see him before that and then skate with him after. And I was just going to ask, like seeing
spk_0 that, did it give you more of like, did you feel like you had more of a chance to potentially get
spk_0 to the next level at the fact that local kids were being able to make that next step? Like, did
spk_0 you ever think in a million years that you would be able to go on and, and make it to the NHL at such
spk_0 a young age? Yeah, I mean, I think he gave a lot of kids hope, you know, just sharing the ice
spk_0 with them at a young age and showing, showing us that, you know, he does the same drills as us,
spk_0 like it, it all gave us hope that we could make it. And yeah, I mean, he was the nicest and most
spk_0 welcoming guy and just getting to know him at that age was, was huge. Like, it was a huge influence
spk_0 on all of us as young kids. And yeah, it was, it was great, you know, having him around all the time
spk_0 and skating with us. It was, it was really a remarkable firm to, to do all those drills. And,
spk_0 and, you know, he was, he was usually the ones that was demonstrating everything for us. So,
spk_0 it was, it was pretty cool to have that experience with them. And now, I'll be able to play with him
spk_0 in the NHL. It was cool. I heard some rumor that he like didn't even play games at a really
spk_0 young age until he was maybe like nine or 10. I don't know if this is true, but he worked with like,
spk_0 a specific skill coach a lot. Is that the guy you mentioned, Boris? Yeah, I honestly didn't say
spk_0 the last thing because I thought I'd butchered. It's so Russian. It's like the Rosa Chanko or
spk_0 something. But yeah, we were, we skated with him. It's, it's like, we, we don't really touch a
spk_0 puck too often. Like, it was so much skating. We would skate for three hours a day and just like,
spk_0 what age is this? Sorry. This was, I mean, he did it since he was, he was probably like five or
spk_0 six years old until, I don't know, he was probably 20, 20, 21, like close to my age. But yeah, it was,
spk_0 it was like almost figure skating on ice. I can send you guys their link, but it's like,
spk_0 a skating is so difficult and it's so hard and it's so different. And I think it helped both of us,
spk_0 you know, become obviously really great skaters and develop our games a lot. But it's,
spk_0 it's something like I've never done before and to have it in Phoenix or is on it was like,
spk_0 it was just crazy. Yeah. But yeah, it was, it was, it was, yeah, it really helped us.
spk_0 Was this being done at the ice then? This was being done at, this was being done at Oceanside
spk_0 where the firebirds used to play. So yeah. And that was the ASU team was playing before they moved
spk_0 into their barn. No, it was Arcadia. Sorry, it was Arcadia. Oceanside is the old,
spk_0 it's the old Sun Devil's Rink. You're right. Arcadia was the one where we, where we had the camp.
spk_0 I don't know if that's still around, to be honest, but yeah, that was, that was an older barn for sure.
spk_0 So a young age with no pox, it's kind of like, did you enjoy it though? Like, were you still like,
spk_0 I love this? Or was it a kind of times where like, I don't want to go? A little bit of both. Like,
spk_0 I was, I remember I was like 11, 12 years old and I'm like, waking up and I'm like,
spk_0 sores hell and my legs are hurting. I'm like, this, like this can't, this can't happen. But we would
spk_0 be doing like, he'd take us outside in the Arizona heat. This isn't the summer. We do, you
spk_0 would just tell us like, do you have 500 squats and then 500 side to sides, like just lunges. And
spk_0 I, we were like sweating, dying, sore, and then we go on the ice and we're doing jumps in 360s and
spk_0 just like jumping on one leg and stuff. It was, it was, it was pretty intense stuff, but like,
spk_0 now looking back at it, it was all worth it. And now, like, that's why I don't think me and him do
spk_0 it anymore because I don't think we can handle the soreness now. But yeah, when we were, when we were
spk_0 younger, it was, it was pretty, it was pretty crazy how we could do that. Will you play in other sports?
spk_0 Yeah, I played a little bit tennis and soccer, but just, just for fun, with my bodies and stuff,
spk_0 but nothing, nothing too competitive. So with the size, you know, you mentioned,
spk_0 then you could tell on the ice, like, you're very fast, but you're also a truck. Were you always
spk_0 the biggest kid? Like, is your dad that wide and thick? Like, when did your, where did your
spk_0 size come from? Yeah, my dad's, my dad's a pretty big boy. He, like, I trained like nonstop, but,
spk_0 yeah, no, me and, me and little donor, we were probably the smallest kids on the team
spk_0 until we were 16. Me and him probably hit a growth spread at like the same time. Yeah, we were,
spk_0 I don't know if you guys looked back at our like, USHL draft year, but we were, we probably were
spk_0 one of the smallest kids drafted, the skinniest kids. We were always the little ones on the team and then
spk_0 came like 16, 17 years old. We just had a huge growth for both of us and put on weight and it kind
spk_0 of just took off from there for us because we, you know, I think we had so much skill when we were
spk_0 younger and just had the size and strength. I could made us a lot better and, yeah, it's fun.
spk_0 We both had at the same time there. You seem so close with donor and you're from Arizona. Was there
spk_0 any thoughts of going to Arizona state and if not, why did you choose Minnesota right away and just
spk_0 go through that whole process of deciding where you were going to go for college? Yeah, I was thinking
spk_0 about ASU. I think at the time when I was kind of deciding of it, it was a little bit still under
spk_0 development there. They didn't have Mold Arena and I think I just didn't really want to play
spk_0 in ocean side, you know, my freshman year, the kind of a ring that I grew up playing and I think
spk_0 that was a little bit too. And then once I started visiting some other schools in North Dakota and
spk_0 Penn State and Minnesota, I was like, I just thought these schools had a lot to offer right away and
spk_0 unreal campuses, unreal experiences. And then I kind of wanted to, you know, playing the big 10,
spk_0 I wanted to play in a conference and so that kind of came down to it and just love Minnesota.
spk_0 I love the coaches there. They were going to build a great team. I mean, you kind of look at their
spk_0 lineup when I was committing and it was, you know, a lot of great names and I just put a lot of
spk_0 faith into those coaches to make a great team and they did. So yeah, it was a good decision, but
spk_0 I mean that team that lost, you guys, when you lost the Quinnipiac, that's got to be one of the
spk_0 best college hockey rosters I've ever seen. It was nuts. Yeah. Yeah. I'm trying to bring that up.
spk_0 You see these guys that are like dominating the NHL now, it must have been a fun couple years
spk_0 for you. No, it was. It was Logan Cooley, Brock Faber, Jackson Wickholm and Jimmy Snuggaroo for those
spk_0 at home, not following the college game. Yeah. I mean, practice, like practicing against those guys
spk_0 and with those guys, like it was, it was, it was the closest thing you could get to the NHL,
spk_0 you know, before it and yeah, I mean, we had a hell of a team, hell of a group,
spk_0 extremely close. I live with those guys in the summer. I live with Jackson, the Coleman, Jimmy,
spk_0 Snuggaroo in the summer and we all kind of trained together too now. So it's, yeah, it sucks that
spk_0 year, but yeah, we had a pretty incredible lineup. Before that, it said you played three years with
spk_0 the Tri-City Storm. So at that point, you had to make a decision to move away from home.
spk_0 What was that adjustment like? It's pretty hard. I think I was like 15 or 16 years all
spk_0 at the time and it's different moving from Phoenix, Arizona to Nebraska where the city was,
spk_0 I don't know, 10,000 people and it was snowing like crazy. I'm learning to drive in the snow and
spk_0 I lived on a farm like out on a three mile dirt road. Like it was, it was a complete shell
spk_0 shock for me, but I live with three other guys on the team and that in that in that barn. We just
spk_0 got really close and I don't know. I loved everything about juniors. The lifestyle is so awesome.
spk_0 Just to, you know, go to high school and then and get to play in front of it. You know, thousands of
spk_0 fans and travel and go see different cities. Like it was, it was so much fun. You might have answered
spk_0 this talking about the growth spurt and it being a little later, but no consideration from the
spk_0 national program for you. I was like, how did that, were you kind of rattled by that or do you not
spk_0 care? I was a little bit upset about it. But again, I was really small at the time. I was really under
spk_0 developed. Me and Josh both were. I wasn't really expecting it that much, but I was definitely upset.
spk_0 Like that was like something I definitely dreamed about. Like I wanted to play there and honestly,
spk_0 like it was really good for me not to, you know, just to play another year of of U-16 and, you know,
spk_0 I just to puck a lot, play a lot, you know, have confidence. And then as soon as I stepped into
spk_0 junior, it was it was pretty easy for me to transition. You know, I think if I would have made that
spk_0 team, I probably wouldn't have been, you know, in their top six or been and playing a lot of minutes.
spk_0 And I think, you know, my development probably would have got kind of stalled there. So I think
spk_0 it was best for me, honestly, to go somewhere where I could play right away and play heavy minutes.
spk_0 And yeah, so I'm pretty fortunate that I got another opportunity to play on the USAH on Tri-City.
spk_0 And, you know, it was those were two special years for sure. So if I'm not mistaken here,
spk_0 looking at your hockey DB, you go from playing in Tri-City, you end up going to your first year
spk_0 in Minnesota and then towards the end of that first season, you end up getting to play in the Olympics.
spk_0 Yeah, it was halfway through my fur freshman year in February. Yeah, it was, it was, it was,
spk_0 that's unbelievable. Yeah, it was, it was really cool. It was really cool. And just sending out the
spk_0 emails to my teachers like, hey, I won't be here this month. I'm going to the Olympics. Yeah,
spk_0 yeah, it was, it was a lot of fun. And yeah, it was cool. There was, there was two other
spk_0 guys on our team that went as well. And I think half the team was all college players. And the other
spk_0 half was players playing pro and, and you're up somewhere either in the KHL, Sweden, Swiss League.
spk_0 So it was, it was an awesome that we had kind of like, you know, half a team of veterans,
spk_0 then half a team of just youngsters. And we jelled so close and it was, it was such a crazy
spk_0 experience, obviously, of being and Beijing too. It was, it was pretty gnarly. Yeah, wait, we need
spk_0 some stories from the village or did you guys get to go out? I know it was heavy COVID times,
spk_0 but was there any chinanigans going on off the ice? Yeah, I think like once kind of towards the
spk_0 end of the games, close to like the closing ceremonies, it was, it's, it's weird because every,
spk_0 every in the village, like every country has like their own like tower. And so like you'd step
spk_0 into a tower like, and there'd be a huge German flag or a huge, I don't know, Italy flag. And
spk_0 we were kind of bouncing back and forth like everyone's kind of celebrating just them being there
spk_0 and having drinks and having fun. And you know, we get caught like the Netherlands tower and we're
spk_0 trading jackets and hats and stuff. And I remember one of my like, one of my roommates like came,
spk_0 came home and just had nothing on besides besides the Netherlands jacket in the morning. So I was
spk_0 just dying laughing. He just like, I can't find my phone. I can't find, I can't find anything. I
spk_0 had a party at the end, which is, which was just like really cool to see. Like you don't, you
spk_0 don't really expect that. But yeah, towards the closing closing, uh, the ending ceremonies there,
spk_0 it was, it was a, it was a huge party. Were you able to go watch other events if you wanted to?
spk_0 Like, and if so, which ones did you go check out or were you the most interested in? Yeah, so
spk_0 there's like parts, there's like parts where some things that keep like, can't be in the same
spk_0 area. So like Bob sled like has to have like its own area. There was like three villages and
spk_0 we were in the main village where there's like a pretty decent amount of sports. So we went to
spk_0 like speed skating, um, the long track, the short track. We went to that huge, I don't even know
spk_0 what you call it, but that huge pipe where there's snowboards and skiers and they do ton of tricks.
spk_0 I want to go see those two. Um, I gotta remember here. There's, there's a few, but there a lot of
spk_0 them like the half pipe is in a different area. The, the Bob said was in a different area.
spk_0 Some of the downhill skiing, they're all, they're all kind of spread out that we couldn't,
spk_0 we couldn't make it. There was too far. So those were the main ones we watched, but like,
spk_0 it was still so much fun to go to those and just see like see it live. It's, it's pretty outrageous.
spk_0 Did that, did, did like the fake Russian team win that one? They couldn't be called Russia,
spk_0 but they were Russia like the Soviet Union of the Persia was like a, yeah, the athletes from,
spk_0 from Russia. Um, I think it was Finland. Finland won. I don't, I don't think we were even paying
spk_0 attention. We were so, we were kind of sold, so upset about losing. Um, but yeah, I think Finland,
spk_0 Finland might have beats, I want to say Sweden in the final. They were, I mean, it was mostly just
spk_0 to finish like a, like a league of all-star team. Um, but there were some really good players,
spk_0 really good teams. They're a candidate at a really good team. We played them. Yeah, so there was,
spk_0 there was a lot of great teams, but it was, uh, it's going to be interesting this year with, with,
spk_0 you know, the best on best and bringing the NHL players. It'll be, it'll be a fun time to watch.
spk_0 So you bring that up and it's like, man, watching the speed of the foreign nations,
spk_0 like how you skate, like that's got to be, you know, a big goalie or something to somehow make that
spk_0 team, right? No, for sure, for sure. I mean, you know, watching the foreign nations,
spk_0 sitting down, watching on TV, like it's, you're itching to be out there. Like it's, it's,
spk_0 it looks like such fun hockey and, um, you know, I think everyone, everyone had their eyes on that game.
spk_0 So, um, yeah, I mean, it would be obviously a huge honor to make that team and to go, to go play
spk_0 there. Um, I'm obviously going to have to work my tail off this earlier to earn a spot and, and,
spk_0 uh, you know, show that I can, can play that role that they need. So, um, yeah, hopefully my name
spk_0 gets called, but, you know, it's, uh, how do I control for now? Um, I joked about it when we first
spk_0 started this interview, but that big ticket you signed this off season. Uh, I believe that's a
spk_0 hometown discount. I was so thrilled that you came in under, uh, I believe you just came in
spk_0 under eight million. What was the first thing that you added a buy-in with, uh, with the
spk_0 signing bonus? Are you a pretty, uh, reserve guy when it comes to flex in the dough?
spk_0 I get asked out a lot. I didn't, I haven't bought anything really. I don't know what, what, what
spk_0 two buy to be honest? Like, do you rent in Toronto? Yeah, I rent a place. You can't really purchase
spk_0 because there's a, there's a huge huge like four in tax to purchase a place. So I'm not a lot of
spk_0 purchase a place really is what I'm told. Um, but so yeah, I don't, I don't really know. I think, uh,
spk_0 yeah, I just had a comfortable summer, you know, spending it, uh, wisely and, um,
spk_0 nothing, nothing crazy. I think some of the guys kind of give me shit every now and then,
spk_0 I don't, I don't own any watches or any crazy pairs of shoes. So I think those guys are like,
spk_0 tell me like they, they, they're gonna take me out or something and, and force me to buy something.
spk_0 But so when you see Matthew style, you're just like, that's not, I don't, I don't have that.
spk_0 Like, I don't, like, I don't know. Like, like, like, him and Willie, like, they kind of wear like
spk_0 baggy, baggy stuff that's like designer and I don't know. I don't, I don't really care too much.
spk_0 You know, I'm like, I'm walking into the rink. I'm walking back. Like, it's not like, I'm like,
spk_0 really showing off anything. I don't need anything crazy. But, yeah,
spk_0 what we saw at the, when were we there, Bizz, when we saw Neil and Darrow,
spk_0 and, uh, oh, yeah, we were at the all-star game. All-star game. And Neil and Ders and the other room,
spk_0 he's got a, I think it was a, a wider pink, just tank top on. It was a way to tank top.
spk_0 And he looked, he looked good. He looked good and business at tank tops.
spk_0 Mike, his, his, his, his knipples were hard as rocks because he was free inside. This guy's
spk_0 rocking a fucking bra out. In the, in the woods, huh? That's not surprised. I feel like he wears
spk_0 the white feet or a lot. So, uh, you got a, even Max dole-me is, uh, is a bit of a fashion used to as
spk_0 well. So you guys got quite a few guys on that team. There is, there is, there is a, there's a,
spk_0 there's a lot, uh, a lot of good examples out there that I should start following. Maybe I'll,
spk_0 I'll catch the train and I'm curious what they're going to do with the, with the no dress code now.
spk_0 So I'll see what they do and I'll try to follow whatever whatever it is if it's not too crazy
spk_0 Who's the guy that would maybe chirp one of their outfits when they come in like what are the veterans that kind of keep those guys
spk_0 Honest who can give it to them because we just mentioned two of the top dogs in the land or Matthews where I don't think anybody's gonna
spk_0 Say shit to them for the most part. No, no, no one I mean I'm not gonna do it. No one's gonna do it
spk_0 I was just like that's just them now like that's just we're just like so used to use somewhere and that's I don't know
spk_0 I don't really I think everyone really chirps me about my suit. They're like, oh, it's the same one again and you know
spk_0 I don't think anyone trips those guys I don't think I'd at all
spk_0 Yeah, they're like you know one one way ticket out of town while we're on this core four which we're ever this pride the last time
spk_0 We're allowed to say because I don't want chief hunting me down
spk_0 But you live with Tavares I saw of your first year
spk_0 What was that like what's he like to that locker room? He's just a he's a constant pro can you give us a little peek behind
spk_0 The curtain with him. I was really fortunate to live with him
spk_0 For him to open his doors to me. So live with this family to live with his kids like it was
spk_0 Really eye-opening honestly for a kid that was you know in 1920 coming in there and
spk_0 Just seeing how professional he is and how dialed in to his routine his eating habits his
spk_0 Treatment habits
spk_0 How prepared he is how early he shows up, you know, on which time he takes at the rank like it was it was completely shocking to me
spk_0 But yeah living with them was you pick up a lot of things that you're like I'm not doing it right like I'm there's things
spk_0 I'm missing those there's little things that it could help me get a little bit of an advantage
spk_0 Making a little bit better better players. So I picked up a lot from him and and yeah
spk_0 He's been huge for a locker room for for a leadership standpoint for
spk_0 For being an example for the young guys for
spk_0 Being vocal for for taking on a lot like he takes on a lot of weight
spk_0 So he's he's been huge. He was a huge influence on me doing well the first two years and
spk_0 Yeah, one of the most welcoming and professional humans I've ever met
spk_0 What were the biggest things was it diet?
spk_0 Was it recovery and what were the biggest things that you pulled away from him or or even anyone since you've been playing pro
spk_0 That you've had to implement that have made a big difference
spk_0 Yeah, I mean jokingly he's so proud that like I remember I'd stay with him before the season started and he'd have like a charity game and
spk_0 He's coming back from and I was opening the fridge
spk_0 I opened the fridge says like post charity game meal like he already has his meal prepped and
spk_0 Like he comes home like he would he would shower and throw on his blue like glasses
spk_0 And it would already be like 6.37 pm like it's way before way before I'm going to bed
spk_0 You know and he's he's already getting himself ready and make a tree as a good sleep so you could wake up early in the morning and
spk_0 You know his first routine when he wakes up as he gets straight out of bed and goes straight to the cold tub for three minutes and
spk_0 I don't know
spk_0 I'm on a bed dude. That's what I'm saying. I'm laying in my cozy bed for 10 more minutes and snoozing and
spk_0 You know, I'm laid out the door and but he's
spk_0 Yeah, he's he's he's next level with that kind of stuff
spk_0 But like little things like that just how important it is
spk_0 I took I took that on and I think on game days like he just does extra like he comes he comes home
spk_0 And he's still doing more work on
spk_0 If it's a little bit of like Pallotti worked or core work. He's in there while I'm you know
spk_0 I sat on the couch and watch TV and it was just trying to prepare for the game
spk_0 He would and trying to relax and take my mind off it
spk_0 He was he was still grinding in there and so yeah, sometimes you just got to applaud it and you're like this is
spk_0 This is just who he is, you know, this is uh
spk_0 It's it's it's pretty it's pretty fun to watch to be honest
spk_0 But now he's basically playing for free the next couple years. What a fucking hometown deal that was to step in
spk_0 I'm a leader for sure for sure our year, baby
spk_0 Well, while we're on this leaf talk in our year and everything
spk_0 I don't know if you're familiar with biz
spk_0 But he he is an ambassador for your team and he got a jacket this year and the big discussions online is it is
spk_0 Should he hand the jacket back in or do you guys want him to have the jacket?
spk_0 You tell me what you want you want
spk_0 The jacket by shanny
spk_0 Shanny's not there. I want to have the jacket because I remember when I was like first picked by Toronto
spk_0 And biz was at donor's house
spk_0 And I think he had a little bit
spk_0 Too much wine and he was running around the house. He was where's my little maple leaf
spk_0 And he he finally found me he down me up, but he was like it's like
spk_0 So I think he deserves it. He's got a long core long core fans. So he does there's the keeper
spk_0 I appreciate your boys, but if I'm a bit of a distraction
spk_0 I have no problem handing the jacket over. I have to stay away. I'll stay away
spk_0 But I'll I'll be there for your guys
spk_0 Game against Detroit on the 13th, which is that Monday Amazon game and I'm excited to see how you guys shake things out
spk_0 And you know you guys lost Mariner, but I really like the way you guys addressed other needs you guys got Matthias
spk_0 Machailey
spk_0 And and Roy and like Dakota Joshua where I have no idea why the Vancouver canuck speed
spk_0 Him away. So all of a sudden I know you lose Mariner who's such a valuable piece
spk_0 But you guys get bigger and deeper. So from your guys
spk_0 Chances this year. I like you mean better than the last couple of years. Yeah. Yeah, I mean
spk_0 We we we had some really key pieces that are
spk_0 That are gonna be huge for our team
spk_0 A lot of great players Nick wall and and Dakota Joshua two big players. We're gonna play physical and play hard and
spk_0 You know change the identity of of the forward you for sure and then
spk_0 Yeah, Michele is just really skilled really fast can make plays like there's there's a really great ads
spk_0 You know, I think obviously there's I mean, I'm not gonna be around the bush. There's a huge void with with Mitch
spk_0 Leaving you can't really replace that kind of a player
spk_0 And the superstar he is so but I think we did a great job of of you know adding adding pieces that are gonna definitely help
spk_0 And I think with
spk_0 You know with all of our trust and tree and and and chief, you know
spk_0 I think we we're gonna have a strong team, you know, I think with with them both coming back and
spk_0 This is finally their team and and I think we we do a great job in the offseason and yeah
spk_0 I'm really excited to see what we can do during the year and in the playoffs
spk_0 I'm wondering how it's been for you like with the pressure that comes along with playing in Toronto and it's Canada
spk_0 But Toronto's even a different beast and just the amount of reporters and looking for stories and kind of force and subjects when they really have nothing to write about
spk_0 Um, how is that like come for you like are you like
spk_0 Okay with it to get frustrated by it or has it been easier maybe being like the fifth guy the past couple of years
spk_0 Yeah, I mean a little bit of
spk_0 All of that to be honest like it's I think a lot of the a lot of the weight was taken off by shoulders by those guys
spk_0 Um, but then like living with Johnny you realize like
spk_0 You don't gotta listen to that stuff. You don't focus on that you just focus on the game
spk_0 You know, I don't think he's never throwing on you know any of the reporters
spk_0 When he comes home from a game he's throwing on other games. He's throwing on the games on the west coast
spk_0 So it's like you focus on just hockey in general
spk_0 You don't focus on what other people are saying and I think that's that's kind of what I got from Johnny too is just
spk_0 You don't you don't got to worry about any of that stuff. It doesn't matter what they say, you know, just play your game and
spk_0 When you're in the media just you know, speak your truth and
spk_0 You know, say don't you don't have to say what they want to hear. Just say what you think and
spk_0 Yeah, just just know that you know, if there always comes another day and you gotta we gotta work your tail off and and they'll be happy
spk_0 I got I got a tube two par question
spk_0 Two parts here first up, you know, you're in the NHL
spk_0 I want to know what your favorite city's been on the road and then I'm gonna try to set you up here
spk_0 What's got what what city are you looking forward to going to this season?
spk_0 Anaheim's always a good trip. I actually like Anaheim
spk_0 My first year we see that Pelican Hill and we had a day off and we got a golf
spk_0 Ongly will course right on the water
spk_0 It's really really nice. My buddy my best buddy Jackson McCormack is there
spk_0 So I always got to catch up with him, which is really nice. I love New York, New York's a fun time
spk_0 There's just so much to do. I feel like we always have a lot of time and
spk_0 Days off for practice days there that we could just kind of enjoy enjoy the city a little bit
spk_0 So I think those are probably my main two
spk_0 Every city has been fun. I guess it's cool like the first my first few years just every new city is is different and you know
spk_0 It's all new to me. So it's all fun to
spk_0 Go out with dinner with the guys and stuff and see it's it's uh, yeah, it's been nice
spk_0 You missed the boat there. I'm trying to set you up here where you got to be looking forward to a special road trip this season
spk_0 Yeah, I'm excited for Vegas. Yeah, it'll be oh no, you're still not getting it. You still miss it. You got to say Boston
spk_0 What do you mean? Why why Boston? I got in my notes here. I got the girlfriend drafted by the Boston
spk_0 Oh, that's right. Yeah
spk_0 Yeah, that's she's gonna be all over you now
spk_0 Yeah, I know now if you hear this will be yeah, that's so funny
spk_0 That's why you're not like you weren't you would end up with the Bruins somehow is like his girlfriend was drafted by the Bruins
spk_0 I'm like jeez walk off
spk_0 Toronto at the next pick so that's that's a huge bummer
spk_0 What happens did they tell today tell her that they were gonna pick her if she would went to the next pick?
spk_0 I think so I think we kind of had it's pretty
spk_0 Locked in I want to say but that's just more easy for you to fucking run the Bruins through the wall
spk_0 With you and your family
spk_0 I got to ask about the contract. I know Bruce bass brought it up. I was saying at the time
spk_0 I'm like oh 10 million years and overpay no offense. You'll end up being there
spk_0 But I was like I think I think if it's if it's eight and a half to nine two like that's that's gonna be a nice deal
spk_0 Then it came in and as a leaves hater no offense again
spk_0 I was I was like is this how the fuck did they get him to sign that like you could have gotten more money
spk_0 Is that more hey leave some more for the team like I'm happy with this or I just love this city so much
spk_0 This is what they're offering like kind of take us through the negotiation
spk_0 There was a note into various is fridge. This is all we're giving you you better fucking take it
spk_0 I mean, I think it's very fairly compensated. Yeah, I've only played two years
spk_0 Call in the NHL and
spk_0 Is this is this is nice. I also I love my hand in my hands take me off the screen here
spk_0 Yeah, I mean, I don't know like it's
spk_0 It's it's more than you know, I wanted to be long term and I think that was just the number that that fit for both of us and
spk_0 You know, I knew that they had they had the opportunity to do it right before free agency so they could you know start make it some moves and
spk_0 Um, yeah, I think we both got we're like we both settled on a very comfortable number that made us both happy and
spk_0 Made it easy on them so that in free agency they can they can get right to work and really start focusing on the rest of our team
spk_0 But I thought I thought it's more than fair and um
spk_0 For not me not being that of an experience of a player, you know, I think it's uh, I'm extremely happy with it
spk_0 I'm really fortunate that they you invested a lot of years and and a lot of money in and to me and
spk_0 So I couldn't be happier and I hope they are too, you know, I still got a
spk_0 You know, make sure it's worthwhile here and um, yeah, I still got a still got six years to work my ass off to make it make it worth their
spk_0 Worth their money. I only had a few more hockey ones until we started maybe talking about what you like to do around the city for fun
spk_0 But your relationship with chief like how was it when he first came in and like you know player coaches relationship
spk_0 Are a little different than they have they were in the past right and he's more old school
spk_0 But I feel like he's really adapted in how he communicates to the guys and you know
spk_0 What's it been like working with him and just they're all the respect in the world you probably have for him
spk_0 He's a very personable coach, you know
spk_0 He's very easy to talk to on and off the ice whether it's about hockey or it's not about hockey
spk_0 I think he's he's the kind of guy that you know when he does a pregame speech you want to run through a wall
spk_0 You know, it's he's so easy to play for and he's he's so highly motivated and um
spk_0 But yeah, he's he's been incredible and I think you know the way the way he sees the game
spk_0 I think is a lot on how I play you know where it's north south very simple, you know hard nose hockey and
spk_0 That's why I think we had a really good relationship
spk_0 And I think we know we were able to kind of feed off each other and um, yeah, I think he's been he's been huge for for my career
spk_0 So excited that he's back and that I can you know keep drawing with him and and keep learning from him
spk_0 And the follow-up I had was you know
spk_0 Obviously not the result you guys wanted
spk_0 But how much experience did you gain last postseason and just going against the champs and and realizing what it takes to win
spk_0 I know you guys were this close, but you know just you know
spk_0 You had a great run, but like what did you take away from last year's playoff run?
spk_0 Yeah, I mean it's it's hard because once that game seven's over you try to
spk_0 You try to put it behind you as quickly as possible
spk_0 You know you don't want to think about that stuff, you know
spk_0 I think we you know we kind of shit the better in game seven
spk_0 So you didn't want to think about that, you know, but I think I think our takeaway was was mostly that
spk_0 Our our consistency was was just not there as much
spk_0 Um, I didn't game one and two. I think we dominated. I think we had great games
spk_0 um came out with the w and I think we slowly kind of took our foot off the pedal and and just let him in and
spk_0 um
spk_0 Obviously they're an incredible team and and and structured so well and so deep that you can't really give them
spk_0 You know any answer breathe because if we do that they'd come back and they did so
spk_0 I think our just consistency to play play the same way game one that we did games
spk_0 You know, I'm saying game one to game seven play the same way and um, I just don't think we did that well enough
spk_0 You know
spk_0 And that series and that's I think that's just the the difference maker for us
spk_0 It's a different feeling for you there too because in your you know, it's two full years
spk_0 But three playoffs you've got to the second round twice
spk_0 So like you're kind of like not as used to you know what people say about they can't even get out of the first round
spk_0 So for you, I imagine you're thinking listen like this team like we can win a Stanley Cup
spk_0 Based on the guys that are here and like the success that you have had in the past three seasons
spk_0 No for sure. I mean again, you're not going to win it every year
spk_0 But like it's it's it's it's gonna take um
spk_0 You know, it's gonna take a lot of consistency and um
spk_0 Yeah, I just I just don't think we've had a little bit of that when it came to the you know the the clinching games the five six seven
spk_0 I think we've kind of we just haven't had our best games and I think once we have our best games at those at those times of the year
spk_0 I think we're gonna be just fine. We're gonna make it and and when you know, I think we just got a
spk_0 Again play the same way we do game one and two to in five and six seven and we'll be totally fine
spk_0 I meant to ask when you brought up Jackson McCorme earlier being a former defenseman like
spk_0 I didn't know much about it like he he's not often do people stay four years in college now
spk_0 He wasn't a first round pick it was second round still
spk_0 But like I didn't know much and now I see some anaheim games
spk_0 But more talking of players and scouts are like he's so good like did you see this coming like was he a late bloomer
spk_0 How did how was his career gone with you guys being so close?
spk_0 Yeah, I mean he's kind of had a different path like he he didn't play junior is like he played
spk_0 static you 18 and got drafted and I'm pretty sure he was like two picks out of the first round
spk_0 And there's just so much potential there when he was drafted and um I was kind of confused
spk_0 I didn't really think people can do that you know
spk_0 I thought every kid goes plays in the chl or somewhere in euro plays plays juniors and um
spk_0 Yeah, and then I came in and he was a junior my freshman year and
spk_0 I mean the guy is so talented. He's so patient with the puck
spk_0 Um, he's got so much skill. He skates so well. He makes the right play like I mean he was running our first power play
spk_0 Both years I was there and Brock Faber wasn't on either of our power play
spk_0 So he was he was that skilled like he has he has a lot to him
spk_0 Um, and that's uh, I'm not shocked at all that he's having success that he had such a great year last year because he's
spk_0 He's just so smart and and you know holds the puck so well and skates it so well and yeah
spk_0 I mean it's nice to be able to train with him in the summer because you just it's it's hard to compete with him
spk_0 You know, I think he always chased them down and he's always making the right play and yes, it's uh, it's fun to watch him
spk_0 Did you play in the beauty league? I didn't know I got I think I I got asked to early on but there's they have a lot of bodies
spk_0 And I heard it's I want to say it's kind of falling off like it's kind of going downhill
spk_0 I think the the competitiveness I heard is is a little bit different nowadays than it was before and yeah
spk_0 I heard it was just it was too long earlier and now they kind of shorted it up a little bit
spk_0 And I think guys are I don't know I haven't I haven't done it yet
spk_0 So I can't tell you but that's that's that's what I'm hearing I got to ask about your other summer roommate
spk_0 Because Grinnell is a huge you know college hockey expert for us about snigger rude and you know
spk_0 We saw him a little bit in the playoffs
spk_0 But more about him and can he win the colder this year? I think he definitely has a chance
spk_0 You know, I think he's he's gonna score a ton of goals. I've never seen someone shoot the puck harder than he does
spk_0 Matthews. Yeah, I mean he's Matthews with with Matthews is wrist shot. It's it's
spk_0 Uncomparable, you know, I think he's the best at it in the league his snapshot is wrist shot is unbelievable
spk_0 But I think snugglers one timer
spk_0 I think that there's there's a handful of guys that can do it and he's definitely one of them
spk_0 I'm sure you're gonna see it a lot on on the flank on the power play this year
spk_0 I mean the guy can absolutely wire it like he
spk_0 He did it so much in college. He's just given the puck and he just
spk_0 Anywhere he I don't know how he does it, but it's the top corner left right
spk_0 I don't even know if he's choosing he's just ripping as ours. He can
spk_0 But yeah, he's probably one of the best shooters that I've played with in my career
spk_0 Obviously other than Austin, but he's he's a he's definitely gonna score a lot of goals
spk_0 So I think he has a he's a real shot of the colder for sure quickly fit with the fun stuff
spk_0 You guys just had your Toronto Maple Leafs golf tournament
spk_0 It was broken up into two teams
spk_0 Are you allowed to tell us who won or is that like a content video that's gonna be coming out
spk_0 It was like a charity golf event. So we get like a sponsor of four some
spk_0 So we get like Rogers and MLSC and Adidas and stuff like that everyone gets like their own sponsor
spk_0 Oh you played with four guy like random guy. Yeah, yeah
spk_0 With yeah, just like a sponsor for our team and stuff
spk_0 So but we have like our trip in moscoc we usually do like a like a scramble format
spk_0 We get we just kind of randomize and do teams. So I'll let you know and come in all to the that's coming up
spk_0 Yeah, it should be
spk_0 We can have two weeks
spk_0 So they cut down the roster and then you guys go for this team building experience to moscoc
spk_0 Which these guys are trying to tell me it's got like the best boating, but like come on here
spk_0 We all know fucking Vancouver and the island do over here. I don't know what I have never heard of Vancouver
spk_0 Honestly, I didn't know that Vancouver
spk_0 You're telling me he said it was like
spk_0 It was like describing being Hawaii when you're when you're Tomo Vancouver now he's shown me some pictures
spk_0 And I think he had AI come up with something that it says
spk_0 I'm not talking about the golf islands the golf islands boys
spk_0 And then if you go over to the phenoside, it's got a Hawaii field to it
spk_0 So I guess we could maybe throw up what do you call those when you when you pass the internet a poll
spk_0 Other things who if if you got trapped
spk_0 In a room with one of your teammates who who would you want to bring with you
spk_0 Would who would be the funniest guy that would would make it fine? I'm trapped in what
spk_0 In a room let's say and you know
spk_0 When he kidnaps you
spk_0 There's there's honestly a lot of guys I like
spk_0 You guys got to get Scott Lawton on this podcast. He's probably like oh yeah, there's some bottom
spk_0 I had one wedding with hilarious. Oh my god dude. He's fucking unbelievable. What makes him so funny dude
spk_0 It's kind of I know I said no better. I was with him one night, but he's like his voice kind of is hilarious like how he says things
spk_0 It's just it's yeah, his like timing of everything and like I think he says everything that comes to his mind
spk_0 Like he doesn't let anything hold back like everything. He's like non-stop talking about something or like
spk_0 I think he says hi to me like six times a day like he it's just like you just non-stop
spk_0 Rambling about something something new. So I think he would be just like entertaining
spk_0 But I think the only guy that would probably get me through is probably more gunner is if we could actually just I think he's just
spk_0 so funny and
spk_0 Um, yeah, I love that guy. So I think I would you do my pick? I think lots wouldn't shut up
spk_0 And I think I would kind of lose my mind
spk_0 So it would turn into a saw movie where you fucking kill him. Yeah, it's also said lots like
spk_0 vicious shit talker on the ice you tell you was like
spk_0 Top three ever played with well, I they probably needed him for that Florida series
spk_0 It's comedy what he comes up with I like you just like sometimes you tip back and you chuckle like you can't
spk_0 You can't stand it and he's like so serious and it's funny because when you're playing against him you're like oh this guy
spk_0 Like sounds ruthless
spk_0 And then you just like know you like get to know him and you're like oh my god like it's just yeah, he's just funny
spk_0 And yeah, I mean I love just standing back so on the bench and just not again non-stop whatever's on his mind
spk_0 Whoever's in front of him someone's getting a piece of it. So I also love that like he play he's he's dog like I love his game
spk_0 Like that's a good that I think he'll be nice for you guys this year getting him with two years left like for two playoffs was huge
spk_0 Yeah, I mean him he he helps her in a locker room a lot too like he makes everyone so much more comfortable and
spk_0 Sessor personable guy and gets along with everyone. I think he's he's very
spk_0 He's a very big glue guy. You know, I think he brings everyone together
spk_0 So I think that's that's a huge part of where he can you can out out as well and yeah on the ice obviously is a dog and yeah
spk_0 He's gonna be huge for us how long till when he was in the locker room was he like that because normally
spk_0 There's a little bit of a feeling oh process or was it day one? It's as he comes in hot it was day one and we were playing
spk_0 I don't even know where we were but we were playing like sewer and
spk_0 He like with like sewer somebody in like chirp them and like I'm like we're like look at each other like is this guy serious like it
spk_0 What does he do it? Just guy yeah, and yeah, and he's he's already going after guys and he he he picked it up so quick and I think like
spk_0 It felt like he was on our team the whole year after just two days so um yeah, again
spk_0 He's really he's really good at that stuff
spk_0 So were you going out to eat in Toronto and are you on the J's train right now? Are you a big diving back guy like what's going on here?
spk_0 I'm a little bit on the J's train. I know that playoffs is coming around
spk_0 So I'm gonna I'm hoping to get out to a game or hopefully you get to go do some like the batting practice and stuff
spk_0 Which would be really cool going out to eat honestly
spk_0 I lived like very close to King Street
spk_0 So there's a ton of bars and restaurants that are fun to go to and I don't really I haven't really explored too much
spk_0 Yeah, like we don't get like that that crazy amount of time
spk_0 So I'm still kind of new to everything and trying different things out
spk_0 But there's definitely a few key spots like I don't know if you've been to like it's all
spk_0 But that's like me and me and wallers go to it's like a Mexican Michelin and we love it over there
spk_0 But yeah, anything on King Street is usually a great time for us love that well buddy. This is awesome
spk_0 I don't know if if you guys have any more questions, but I think I've hit my limit
spk_0 If somebody thinks of a great question here. I'm gonna try as I read this rollback ad. We got a shout out rollback
spk_0 Naisy

spk_0 I guess fuck you just answered I was gonna ask for one restaurant. I didn't know there was a Michelin star
spk_0 I got one. I got one
spk_0 What is it our year?
spk_0 I think it's our year. Let's go
spk_0 Oh, I'm being told something talkable restaurants
spk_0 Grinnelli got info that you have like a sick addiction to Chick-fil-A. Yeah, that was that was a meal over
spk_0 35 Chick-fil-A
spk_0 No, no, no, no back it up back it up. This was this was a
spk_0 free professional hockey. This was college
spk_0 I think it was every like in college you play Friday Saturday
spk_0 So Sunday through Thursday is like you could do whatever really and I think Mondays, Me,
spk_0 Coolie and Stuggaroo'd
spk_0 We would always go to Chick-fil-A. That was like a number one spot and
spk_0 It was yeah, it was just a huge joke and our team and stuff that they we always loved in it was it is unbelievable
spk_0 It was nice bonding time for us as a line. So it was pretty fun. But then as soon as I got to
spk_0 As soon as I got here and I told Johnny about it, I think he kind of
spk_0 looked at me with three heads and he was like, what are you doing? So it stopped from there
spk_0 I thought it was called Chick Chick-fil-A
spk_0 Or Chick-fil-A
spk_0 You haven't been hey
spk_0 No, no like early days and I figured out somebody corrected me
spk_0 But I got a bullet of pick with them
spk_0 I asked them one time if they could leave the chicken in a little longer so it could be a little crispier
spk_0 And they basically told me to fuck off
spk_0 They're the most well-run restaurant
spk_0 No surprise, Fizz with a special order
spk_0 Well, they got a new snack time
spk_0 The exact time they leave the chicken in for but I was just like, hey, you might leave an
spk_0 Infernexia 10 seconds so we'll get a little bit crispier and they were like no
spk_0 And I think it's a pretty wild ask though. I don't think I go to McDonald's and get the the bun toasted or anything
spk_0 Well while we're on this kind of food though
spk_0 I did want to ask you have you gotten into the Poutine Culture of Canada
spk_0 No, I don't like it at all
spk_0 We have we have some French guys to like Benoit like always tells me how good it is and no, I'm not a fan
spk_0 He's a greasy Frenchman though
spk_0 the
spk_0 uh
spk_0 How many sco- how many samples you ask him for if you go to like a nice cream shop
spk_0 And you've never been there before would you ask how many
spk_0 Would you ask him seven and a half he there's no way he asked for samples
spk_0 Let him answer the question. Oh, I think he does
spk_0 Probably I think one or two one or two
spk_0 I like
spk_0 If you don't ask for a sample I think you're crazy
spk_0 This is leaves this is leaves nation Merne
spk_0 One or two per scoop right what what's this what are you talking about? I met like your game
spk_0 Like if you're getting three scoops you're allowed up to six samples
spk_0 Okay, I'm not getting three scoops of anything though. All right fair enough fair enough fair enough
spk_0 Three scoops is pretty that's that's where I'm that's the road to two four
spk_0 I
spk_0 Ain't living with JT I could do whatever the fuck I want
spk_0 Yeah, I was a little bit off the rails when I left this place so I'm trying to dial in uh buddy. This has been awesome
spk_0 Thank you so much. Been time and I can't wait for the parade. I can't wait just say I know

spk_0 Based on his skating
spk_0 Before we get into the Bruins guys. It's breast cancer awareness month
spk_0 Our merch is live a hundred percent of the net proceeds will go towards supporting
spk_0 Five under 40 they're dedicated to providing funded medical wellness educational and beauty services to women under the age of 40 who've been diagnosed with
spk_0 Press cancer or have a BRCA mutation and we you know we're close to this G this company paid for
spk_0 Alana and helped her a lot with with her battle
spk_0 Yes, it's an awesome company. It's five under 40 and I think like I've talked about this before but like
spk_0 A woman gets breast cancer their their first question is like their hair their beauty
spk_0 You know, where are they gonna do and in this company reached right out to Alana right when she posted that she had breast cancer
spk_0 They funded her wig and wigs are so fucking expensive
spk_0 That's the crazy thing is wigs are like like thousands of dollars
spk_0 So the fact that they could take that load off of us and it's not just like it's not just wigs
spk_0 It's wellness. It's beauty. It's it's all these different things that they do so
spk_0 Let's let's link some merch. We got some good stuff here. It's uh, if we could if we could buy a couple wigs for some girls
spk_0 I think that would be awesome. So yeah, parcel sports.com to nadian store you us store go hit it hit it hard well done
spk_0 And the merch is great. I love how it came out. It's awesome
spk_0 We actually have some cool 47 brand hats too. I know we have that partnership with 47 brand
spk_0 So they actually have some cool breast cancer hats for us as well that are available in the store as well
spk_0 So check those out
spk_0 This is actually a tough segue now because she can't leave because we're gonna be talking about the ship bag brewens now
spk_0 jeez quickly can I tell you what this is tough. This is tough. Sorry jee projected a point total is 80 and a half and
spk_0 Draftkings
spk_0 Draftkings has them listed to win the Atlantic division plus 10,000
spk_0 So whoa
spk_0 That's that that's the lowest and they're coming off a last place finish in the division last year. Yeah
spk_0 I think you're a tank from a kennoguy
spk_0 Yep, I'm miserable for McKenna
spk_0 miserable for McKenna okay
spk_0 Some people like I mentioned have told me I think they're gonna surprise. I don't see it tell me why that would happen
spk_0 If they if they may if they're right around 90 points fighting for a playoff spot last week
spk_0 Well swam and got to do all of training camp. That's a positive that is a positive boy piss
spk_0 But I mean they're healthy they're healthier this year than in years past
spk_0 I think the back end is it's still a good back end
spk_0 I mean Charlie McAvoy Mason low-ry Nikita's a door off like they they have guys that can play like Lynn home is a
spk_0 He's coming in healthy this year his knee is finally good
spk_0 So I think defense in back end, but
spk_0 I'm not one of those guys who thinks they're gonna be a good hockey team this year
spk_0 I do think they're gonna be a tough team to play against
spk_0 I think they'll have they'll play some entertaining hockey throughout the season. I mean
spk_0 David Poshnauck is is David Poshnauck at the end of the day Charlie McAvoy is Charlie McAvoy at the end of the day
spk_0 We saw what McAvoy did in four nations. So I think best case scenario is
spk_0 Competitive hockey all the way through the trade deadline and then that's when you go trade Victor Arvinson the Jonas Corpus Allos
spk_0 The confusing moves that people made this summer that the Bruins made this summer if you trade those guys and you get first round picks
spk_0 And you and you start building again for the future. I think the fans will understand a little bit
spk_0 I think my biggest question is it's all like this season is supposed to be about the youth right?
spk_0 Like in the end of the season press conference that was really what dawn swinging can melee harp dawn was we're going to the youth
spk_0 It's finally the kids time
spk_0 There's two on the projected roster. There's two guys under 25 years old
spk_0 It's Frazier Minton and Mason Lowry so that's my biggest concern is like we're not developing the youth
spk_0 We're playing guys like Victor Arvinson Fabian Lysel still isn't getting a crack at the lineup Georgie Merke you'll off that kid
spk_0 He's a lost cause at this point. So I'm a I'm a bit worried
spk_0 I'm a bit worried at the fact that they're not playing the youth heading into this season
spk_0 Hopefully as the season goes on
spk_0 Maybe you'll see these guys get a chance, but like Maddie potra. Why isn't this guy cracking the line?
spk_0 Well as Jans does say it's not a development league. It's not that's what Providence is for
spk_0 You mentioned health. I was reading about
spk_0 Tenonitis and Posternox need that was lindering from last year
spk_0 Is that still a thing like is
spk_0 Yeah, I mean he sat he sat out a bit from in the train camp and in the preseason and you know what
spk_0 Sit him down halfway through the season. I don't give two fox sit David Posternox down for the year
spk_0 Go back to the Czech Republic. Yeah, but he'd come on
spk_0 I should have played this year you said they'd play entertaining games
spk_0 Well, that's what I was gonna ask you about too
spk_0 Did you guys see Gavin McKenna play the other night if if getting Gavin McKenna on this roster
spk_0 Means sitting David Posternox for the year. I'm doing it 10 out of 10 times. Well, it's a limpic year
spk_0 So he wants to play that's that's not that's not gonna happen
spk_0 And and you said exciting brand of hockey
spk_0 That was probably my one takeaway from last year was it when you would watch Bruins games
spk_0 That was fuck I'd rather watch our our us against the stranglers ball hockey
spk_0 I think that we could probably sell more tickets. It was more entertaining
spk_0 It was it was watching paint dry. They have no speed and they're boring
spk_0 That's why they went and got guys. I think like Tanner Jeno
spk_0 At least drop the mits like go drop the mits and get the crowd going because there's nothing else to cheer for on this
spk_0 No, no, no, no hasn't done that. Jeno hasn't done that since his first year ever since his first year when he came in
spk_0 He was you know, he had 20 20 and like a hundred and something penalty minutes
spk_0 He hasn't done that since he doesn't play the way that he did the first year, but they need him to play
spk_0 Like he did that first year in that they're paying them. They're paying them like he's about the score 25
spk_0 They gave him
spk_0 I mean you could list off the deal was that not one of the more surprising deals this off season
spk_0 I believe it was a four or five year deal. I had to get to the floor. Yeah five year deal
spk_0 I believe around two million per year
spk_0 Yeah, not great more than that. What if uh
spk_0 What if Casey middle stat like what if he's awesome? What if he gets seventy five?
spk_0 You know what would be great with if Casey middle stats awesome
spk_0 And then there's a team at the trade deadline. That's willing to give up a big haul for these younger
spk_0 I thought you got it. You need some youth. He's 26. He's 26. He's not that young
spk_0 It's like if it hasn't happened yet. It hasn't happened and again Casey middle stat is not the two C of the future for the Boston
spk_0 Bruins. He's not even okay. You don't even have a one C
spk_0 We don't we absolutely don't but I heard Lynn home looks good though
spk_0 I heard Lynn home has looked really good in in uh preseason
spk_0 Yeah, I think I have a
spk_0 But like if you have another year like last year a pasta had 106 points and the next guy had 57 points like that
spk_0 That's actually you have another you it's insane like if you have another year like that a pasta at what point does he say like if they don't get
spk_0 Mechanical like it when does he say hey guys I'm out of here your tail so when I go back to the pasta thing
spk_0 I'm not saying we're shutting it down here in November, but you get through the trade deadline
spk_0 You once again you deal away half the roster the Olympics has already been played at this point at that point
spk_0 Wouldn't you sit back and say fuck well my knees killing me it's been killing me all season
spk_0 The team's not gonna win anymore games this year if I sit out
spk_0 Maybe we have a better shop at getting not only Gavin McKenna this Keaton Verhoff kid at North Dakota
spk_0 Is supposedly going to be an unbelievable defenseman any other year. He's going number one overall
spk_0 So I don't know I would sit him down the second Olympics ends
spk_0 I would fucking sit David Pasha in the press too much of a competitor he ain't
spk_0 Yes and you're selling like this is like NBA talk here like people going in the games to see him play
spk_0 When that's how down bad we are that's that's all I have
spk_0 Oh, is all I have to resort to is Gavin McKenna like Gavin McKenna or Keaton Verhoff is all I have to cling to
spk_0 And the Boston College Bruins so I had a journal 3.4 million
spk_0 How many years five
spk_0 That's good for me. I was a little surprised good for his agent
spk_0 Yeah, he doesn't he should get told me that
spk_0 The beat it was BC playing Merrimack and the Bruins had seven guys between the two teams like
spk_0 You get we got a scout outside of Massachusetts here Bruins if we want to get good, no crazy six guys
spk_0 They have six guys on just the BC Eagles alone. It's it's fucking well
spk_0 If the Eagles pop off and go on a run this year and these guys make big contributions
spk_0 You're looking at like why we got a kid bunch of kids coming up that already know each other
spk_0 So not I'm just mr. positivity in this group. I really am now
spk_0 Having said that I'm pretty sure all of us have them missing the playoffs
spk_0 Yeah, yeah, I think it more points than than what that what was it 80 80 and I think it yeah
spk_0 I think they get more points than that just because of swimming their back in his
spk_0 Conte, you know
spk_0 Decent but it's like yeah, I don't think they're gonna make the playoffs
spk_0 But if I was a bet man, I'd take the over in points
spk_0 All right, I like that. I got a missing playoffs. Yeah, they're doing shit
spk_0 And I'm happy to see that the ship bag Bruins are no longer a threat to the time. It's nice for you
spk_0 They owned you for so long here and now it's like they're down. It's nice. Yeah, but
spk_0 It's the only way Kitchok has to get hurt barcalf has to get hurt them the Bruins dynasty has to come to an end
spk_0 That's the only way the Leafs do it
spk_0 Yeah
spk_0 Yeah, it feels great
spk_0 Other than barcalf being in contract being injured. I know I don't want to get scolded for that again even though I
spk_0 Said leaves here when that leaves here
spk_0 Um
spk_0 A fan base we're gonna get to now that I think maybe he's feeling good this time every year
spk_0 Like it's it's over. We're gonna make the playoffs. We can't go 13 straight years. No, no
spk_0 It's over. It's a new year. We can't go 14 straight years
spk_0 The Buffalo Sabers if they missed the playoffs this year it'll be 15 straight years
spk_0 It's the longest record in pro sports right now currently. I believe tied with the New York Chets
spk_0 Tell him he correct me. Gee if I'm wrong there
spk_0 It's been ugly. It's been ugly for a long time. I
spk_0 Don't know guys
spk_0 It's got one chance to more of the same guys
spk_0 They got one one chance. Let's hear Alex Lyon
spk_0 That's their only hope when the Panthers the Stanley Cup two years ago
spk_0 No, they lost three years ago. He got the loss into the playoffs. Yeah, that was the year he got them in though
spk_0 But he got them in wait and then what's the need oh yeah, I'm sorry
spk_0 And then he played with Troy and then almost got them in
spk_0 So Alex Lyon in my opinion is their only hope and
spk_0 Guys this lineup didn't get better. It got worse. They got rid of JJ Paterco last year. Okay
spk_0 I'm excited for Josh Dohn to get some current like some playing time and and be a regular
spk_0 I think that he could be a great contributor to that team, but this team sucks
spk_0 I they they should just be kissing the ground in Buffalo at the fact that they have Josh Allen
spk_0 And and at the and at the bills are good because I like their D kind of
spk_0 How long have we been saying that but how long
spk_0 Ross, Miss Dallene should be on the Toronto Maple Leafs is where he should be all right dude
spk_0 Dude, what do you mean dude? They need a number one D-man that's their guy right there. He's way
spk_0 We're trying to make a good they haven't lost the game yet
spk_0 Let's give him a day. Yeah, give him a day. Let's talk about their game one day. So what you know what
spk_0 You know what maybe Lindy can bring him back
spk_0 That's another one that yeah Lindy
spk_0 It's just uh
spk_0 not have Paturka
spk_0 Maybe Josh Norris is great this year, right? You've seen moments of that. I know
spk_0 Tough trade for him from Ottawa a lot of very close buddies injury prone. I like talk. I mean
spk_0 Thompson is an absolute sniper. He bounced back last year
spk_0 He's a fun player to watch. He's a monster. He got snubbed from team USA. He's gonna be on a mission
spk_0 We're talking about the only competitive hockey he's gonna be playing is that the Olympics
spk_0 Damn
spk_0 I know dude. I'm trying to pump the I just feel bad. It's a hockey town. Fuck. It's a good market
spk_0 And they got nothing
spk_0 They've had and they got for murals moving back too. They got and they got murals coming back
spk_0 Now the worst part is when I say they have nothing and they had nothing
spk_0 They actually had a lot of guys that went on to win the stand to cup
spk_0 That's the hardest hard is they see right in our dominating. They see ike a winning
spk_0 That they see Ryan O'Reilly go to St. Louis. They just see winners leaving
spk_0 And then they're losing
spk_0 And Buffalo fans. I mean these people are good people good-hearted like it's almost like you're in the midwest
spk_0 Just give him a beer and they're nice and they'll jump through a friggin table
spk_0 All Mark won the god damn Vesna right after he left
spk_0 So let's give him a week bizz before you go puttin he piss is putting Rosmiss Dalline
spk_0 On the leaves before the opening pop drop. I'm saying that's where he should be
spk_0 And you you Taw's gonna win the cup this year because betrk is there
spk_0 Um, I like that Zach Benson kid though. He's a little shit the sturber
spk_0 Water bug out there who can make plays I trained with him at the place called a yard this summer
spk_0 Tawd him a few things. Oh god. How's his old five s1?
spk_0 Oh, it's great great
spk_0 Yeah, we weren't doing any like crazy jump squats uh bow and biram
spk_0 Is he gonna is he gonna take that step? Is he gonna be that that guy that we kept hearing about when we were in Colorado
spk_0 Owen power is he gonna
spk_0 I want to I want to see Owen power out there fucking cross checking guys in the fucking spleen
spk_0 I want to look before like you think he could be headman you're like that guy could be headman
spk_0 I want I want him to be fucking Chris pronger mean I want him to just come in and be a fucking killer
spk_0 I
spk_0 Want him with I want him fucking out there and warm up with the gag ball as well. Fuckin looking across a red line
spk_0 Get you mother fucker
spk_0 But like see the guys I see I see it in your eyes. That's what I want it's kind of like Aaron Eckblatt
spk_0 Like he got drafted first overall just like power they come in maybe trying to be a little too offensive
spk_0 But look at what Aaron Eckblatt has turned his game into like he's big. He's mean like
spk_0 Alibouing people in the face for no fucking reason
spk_0 I love it
spk_0 Power's got it. He's got to have that in his game, Bizz. I agree with you 100% if he brings that to his game
spk_0 That changes their back and immensely. I like Kessel ring too Kessel ring
spk_0 It's kind of like a Rob Skidari type is I'm talking pump it up their teeth army was big on him that that was the mo that was who they got for JJ
spk_0 Paturka correct him and donor yeah
spk_0 For the Paturka Paturka wanted out, but he was their best goal score
spk_0 He was their best offensive threat. So when you say the roster's worst is
spk_0 I kind of agree with you goal scoring wise at least I do
spk_0 And maybe Owen power turns into Darian Hatcher and you're sitting there and you're saying look what I look at the voice
spk_0 I have in the hockey world. I just turned a
spk_0 Maybe a softer bigger
spk_0 Want to be skilled player into a killer
spk_0 He's got the ability. He's enormous and he flies huge
spk_0 So Buffalo fans. We're thinking to you guys honestly. Here we are. We're thinking you guys go
spk_0 I think we all have a lot of playoffs and you have the bills you have the bills
spk_0 What do you got last guy came in? I think he was injured last year torn Achilles
spk_0 I believe it was maybe not maybe I'm making that up Jack Quinn. Yeah, and he signed
spk_0 I think that's basically the deal that um
spk_0 Evangelist assigned like that was something. Yeah
spk_0 Show me some when was drafted high
spk_0 Pretty high pick and he lit up the AHL at an age when you see a lot of 30 40 goalscores in the NHL
spk_0 If they're in the AHL they kind of pop off like that. So those are the two uh
spk_0 Probably basement dwellers in the Atlantic these three teams
spk_0 That's where that's where it gets interesting
spk_0 The eyes are planned biz
spk_0 Deis are planned. It's uh, it's an interesting time in Detroit
spk_0 I think they have some great young players who apparently look awesome and camp you saw last year like
spk_0 I thought they were gonna end up getting in
spk_0 Two years ago the the magic that occurred on the last night of the season and then this past year
spk_0 You're just wondering like there's there's they're missing one stud. They're kind of missing a game breaker
spk_0 Now on D I love citer
spk_0 So can Edvitz and take that big step they were playing together. They were awesome together
spk_0 Good enough that they had to be switched they had to be moved apart right
spk_0 coaching change and
spk_0 Let's make some changes here. So
spk_0 I love larkin. I love to brinkette. We'll see what Pat Patrachane does he's talking about I want to make the Olympic team
spk_0 Patty Kane you never know. I mean he's still very very talented with the puck. He's producing points
spk_0 Can he be even better? I don't know though. I
spk_0 I don't think I haven't getting inbiz before you say anything. I don't know if there's that much of a difference there
spk_0 Has Detroit wit you said it they need a game breaker have they found another diamond in the rough with the seventh round pick with emit
spk_0 Finney all I'm hearing about in Detroit is this emit Finney
spk_0 Very true is a game chain. I don't like this the next zeter burg in datsu
spk_0 They need a diamond in the rough
spk_0 I think I think personally that that that the eyes are planned is not being rushed
spk_0 They are young
spk_0 They do have these guys in the pipeline who will evolve into great NHL players that will help them get into the playoffs
spk_0 they did
spk_0 I think somewhat address goal tending
spk_0 Can Gibson stay healthy right? Can we see the the the John Gibson in his prime we saw in anaheim
spk_0 But a guy who can play
spk_0 50-5 60 games and stay healthy
spk_0 Okay, I'm hearing a lot about this Casper kid too. He had a decent start last year when he came up
spk_0 Is he gonna continue to evolve? I just
spk_0 Continue to look at this roster though. It did get a little deeper
spk_0 Like I love that apple 10 guy who came over from the Winnipeg Jets. I loved him and in Winnipeg
spk_0 I think he was part of that third line there for a hot minute
spk_0 That Michael Rasmussen. I think that him is a fourth line center. I like that. That's huge
spk_0 He's and then so is soda block on the left side of that for talk about that mean
spk_0 He should yes. Yeah, I think that they got a little bit older. I think they got a little bit deeper
spk_0 I think that they address the goal tending situation
spk_0 I just don't think it's time. I don't think they make playoffs. I think they're gonna be on that cost
spk_0 I don't want people to be like oh no, it's their time. It ain't it ain't the eyes or plans not being rushed
spk_0 They're gonna figure it out, but it's gonna take a little bit more time
spk_0 Game Buffalo
spk_0 No, but it's gonna take a little more time. They got two two capable goalies
spk_0 I came to Albert. He's a very good backup like he can win you some games
spk_0 Bringing in James van Riem's like he's gonna get you 15 to 20 goals like good veteran guy in the locker room
spk_0 But I honestly think if they like what's isamans leash like I know he said as long as we're not making playoffs
spk_0 Like it's still part of the eyes or plan like it's still part of the progress
spk_0 But like how long do you think his leash is biz? I think he could miss playoffs for another four years for
spk_0 I think four who the fuck you gonna hire to replace him
spk_0 I don't think I also don't who the fuck are they gonna send into fire him?
spk_0 Who the hell who the hell's got that guy off
spk_0 Can we talk he's like I'm busy right now is it okay
spk_0 Come back in four years
spk_0 Gitchin three years um
spk_0 This Sandin pelica from Sweden
spk_0 Yeah, I mean let's see let's see young but smooth like silk
spk_0 That's a guy who could you know maybe at some point this year all of a sudden he's like running the power play there
spk_0 And you have citer citer's an absolute monster. He's never missed a game
spk_0 I don't think so I don't think he's ever missed a game he gets over 40 points
spk_0 He plays all the tough minute he has all the tough matchups like you have a stud there
spk_0 Can he get to that next level
spk_0 The level of where he's at which is an awesome like true number two on a cup winning team can he turn in to a superstar
spk_0 That's a huge difference
spk_0 You guys know what I'm saying yeah, and and it goes back to a tweet that I saw today like citer 24
spk_0 Johansson 24 Raymond 23 Edvitz and 22 Casper 21 Danielson 21 pelica 20
spk_0 Finney 20 and then this brand seg nagard who they they've seemed to love 20
spk_0 So it's just they're still so young they're young
spk_0 They're like they're like I don't want to pick them to get in like I want to get in
spk_0 Same well then then then this Montreal getting in
spk_0 I
spk_0 Believe more in Montreal than I do the Detroit Red Wings. I've seen a lot of things about I've seen a lot of I've seen noise about people thinking Montreal take a step back
spk_0 Not there yet, but I got a pick right now if Detroit's in or out for the playoffs, right?
spk_0 Okay, what are you thinking
spk_0 I'm switching my pick Detroit's getting in
spk_0 Whoa
spk_0 Hockey town back hockey town's back in the middle of the ice
spk_0 Is that what it says you think Dylan Larkin and the and iserman are gonna they're gonna
spk_0 They're gonna bought. I think Raymond is I think Raymond's so nasty
spk_0 I kind of like forgot that he just sees on that trajectory. Yeah, you didn't even say his name
spk_0 I think it's just obvious. I just did these guys 23 years old and I think he's a 40 goal guy. Yeah
spk_0 Uh
spk_0 A dog on the ice to like not a soft player. He's like in the mix. You always see him in scrums
spk_0 You know in front of the net
spk_0 That's where you score goals, but that's why I tell the kids you want to score goals you go to front of the net, right?
spk_0 Yeah, I think I'm with you wit. I think I'm with you
spk_0 I think they get in they address the goal tending situation you look at there like unit one power play like that's a lethal lethal power play unit like
spk_0 Raymond Larkin Kane to bring it citer. That's a lethal power play like okay, so
spk_0 Currently you have four teams and now you guys right?
spk_0 Everyone in the league and then we got a one Montreal still remaining
spk_0 Yeah, and I don't love the Metro at all they get three
spk_0 The Metro's dog shit. Metro's are easy points
spk_0 Yeah, you're right. I gotta be careful here
spk_0 I gotta be careful. It actually has to be Detroit or Montreal
spk_0 And I guess it's no, not necessarily though
spk_0 Sorry to cut you off. Yeah, no, no, base. You make a good point. No, you do. Yeah, you make you think a little bit
spk_0 I got the trade-in. I'm not listening to you, but I got the trade-in all right
spk_0 And you want to change your mind?
spk_0 I might I might but I have you know, we're still recording right now
spk_0 As long as this this episode's live and we're sitting here chatting it up. I can switch that
spk_0 Okay, whatever you want to the end of the pod. All right fair enough. Um auto a boys
spk_0 I watched the first I think it was the first episode of the Amazon faceoff Brady
spk_0 God that guy much you love that guy. I know
spk_0 Get and him getting the taste of the playoffs after the four nations when he was
spk_0 The clip where
spk_0 Kachak says something like this is what big games feel like Brady in the locker room
spk_0 And he's like I love I love these games and then he got him in the playoffs business leaves took care of them
spk_0 what
spk_0 I like the team. I mean, I don't see a ton of change there, but
spk_0 You think that they could continue to even get better. I think they're gonna be better than last year. Okay
spk_0 All right, 100%
spk_0 I love him. I love that zedderland pickup last year. I think he's gonna continue to be a good asset for them
spk_0 I love their middle of the ice
spk_0 Lars Eller who is gonna be playing fourth line center. It looks like they get the Pinto Parley at third line center
spk_0 That handsome bastard Dylan
spk_0 The I the Norris and Cousin swap was a game changer for me. I love that for cousins, right?
spk_0 I think that he's got way more to give on a team that that
spk_0 That is is playoff bound and it's not not really sucking the life out of him
spk_0 And I just you saw and he's going to fight for his teammates
spk_0 You saw him drop the gloves. I believe it was in preseason last year or maybe it was the year before like he's a fucking gamer
spk_0 Timmy stuetsal. I think he's a hundred point player this year
spk_0 I think Timmy stew is gonna be on a rocket ship and then they're fucking strong on the wings man
spk_0 They got guys like David Peron Stanley Cup champion
spk_0 He's a power play specialist absolute gamer. Yeah, as he maybe lost the half a step who gives a fuck dude
spk_0 He's got the he's got the brains
spk_0 Ketchup the third line really that really that really great kid's a piece of shit. I fucking loved him
spk_0 And then you got oh no you know who they fall in up with on the left side on the fourth line
spk_0 Another piece of shit Nick cousins. They got a lot of fucking game that whole left side man
spk_0 Brady Kachak Peron really Greg and cousins those guys are a fucking pain in the ass to play against
spk_0 And then you got Sanderson who's a year more mature
spk_0 I thought that that zoop kid. I love him good shut down guy and then that Jensen a very underrated pickup that they got from
spk_0 Washington a few years back and then Shabbat man
spk_0 I think Shabbat slaughtered in perfectly on that left side now is as that that that fourth guy really
spk_0 Um on that back end he doesn't need to be the main guy offensively so
spk_0 Overall and then they got all mark. We know what all mark and bring
spk_0 I know that
spk_0 There was a period of time last year where the fans were getting a little bit frustrated when he started shit in the bed
spk_0 But he found his game and I think that that will continue. This is 100%
spk_0 I'm putting my biz stamp of approval
spk_0 I actually think that all seven Canadian teams are gonna make the Stanley Cup playoffs this year
spk_0 You got the biz stamp of approval right there 100% guaranteed auto isn't so you got you got wow
spk_0 All right, so you get the three Atlantic and then you have auto wall
spk_0 You do not have Detroit and then I presume you're you're taking Montreal to get in again
spk_0 What would listen? That's the one that I'm I'm a 50 50 but once we get the double barrel
spk_0 stamp of approval you just I gave it I gave it for for auto
spk_0 But I'm gonna listen to what Eric Ingalls has to say give
spk_0 Muncher all the double-rister and I'm sure he's gonna solidify my answer and the fact that every Canadian team will be represented in the Stanley Cup playoffs this year
spk_0 Uh, last thing about Ottawa. I love their left side that monster
spk_0 Clayvin remember him in that series against a Toronto. He's a mute
spk_0 Right and then that Jordan Spence from LA is pretty good
spk_0 So and you know this Anderson kid is disgusting. He's unbelievable to watch and biz yeah
spk_0 They're a hell of a team. I have them getting in
spk_0 I guess the third looking at the third line of Pinto Parley-Jeroux and Ridley Greg whether that ends up being it or not
spk_0 Like if that was it if you have the top two lines producing and then they're coming at you that's pretty sick. So
spk_0 What does all Mark have?
spk_0 He in or out
spk_0 Um
spk_0 I got the man and until watching that Amazon Prime thing last night and seeing the taste in the malt that Brady Kachak has
spk_0 And Sanderson as well like he came in late to that four nations tournament right he put he only played two games
spk_0 I think right yeah, I played yeah, no just was it just the final
spk_0 Did you just play in the fight but like he's another guy?
spk_0 I've been told by Hall of Fame players that he is gonna be a nor Astro if you win or one day
spk_0 Like you said biz he's gonna take that next step this year running the power play being the number one guy
spk_0 Being hungry to make the USA team
spk_0 I love this team. I think they're gonna have a whole lot of snarling their game
spk_0 Just because of what Brady could chuck you saw with him on the Amazon dock like this guy
spk_0 All he wants to do is win hockey games be a piece of shit on the ice and then be the best dad in the world at home
spk_0 Like he's got it figured out like I love them
spk_0 Uh
spk_0 Couldn't be more excited to watch this team actually like they
spk_0 They look like they're gonna be playing hard for 82 games and uh, I do I got them in
spk_0 All right
spk_0 I think it's time to go over to the Montreal then and bring in our guy
spk_0 Eric angles this guy loves the haves
spk_0 He should run a disclaimer for this
spk_0 Yeah, this is disclaimer Pasha style Pasha style this is scary lawless territory. He's gonna stand up. He's got his demadol van dies on
spk_0 I got my own brother C-shirt on what's going on Eric how you doing you guys are hilarious?
spk_0 You look like you're in better shape and you even charge the weights
spk_0 Yeah, a lot a lot of pickleball fucking rights buddy. You're ready to go. You're ready for another another season of playoffs, aren't you?
spk_0 Yeah, we'll see what it does to me
spk_0 Let's talk about this team um you were you were one of the few people in media who basically guaranteed that they were gonna make playoffs last year
spk_0 You must feel the same way after everybody's a year more mature
spk_0 Martin St. Louis had a little bit extra time to to work his magic there
spk_0 Where do you feel this team lies heading into this season? Yeah, well going back a last year
spk_0 I made two predictions and I was 50% right one of them was the kind of joke prediction that they would make the class because I figured they'd be around two points in or two points out
spk_0 And that's just exactly where they ended up and I figured I'd be the only genius
spk_0 Would say that they'd be in if they made it the other prediction was they'd finished ahead of Ottawa and that ended up being that wrong
spk_0 Although it was close for a long time there
spk_0 um coming to this here I just see a more mature group for the Montreal Canadians
spk_0 You know driven by Marty St. Louis, you know, they they set all longs as deaf Gordon and Kent Hughes came in here that a rebuild is never linear that development is never linear
spk_0 The one thing that's been extremely linear is the way Martin St. Louis has
spk_0 laid the path for the Canadians to become a team that understands how to win games
spk_0 and I think
spk_0 When you go through that experience of this young core growing together and they
spk_0 Understand all those elements that go into it playing kind of a riskless game
spk_0 They've got enough skill to take advantage of their chances
spk_0 They become a less fun team to play against and understandably if started to figure out
spk_0 What it takes to win games and it took really falling on their faces to start last season
spk_0 They had a worse record the first six weeks of the season and I think it reinforced
spk_0 San Luis point to them they're like
spk_0 You're not going to do this running and going and trying to outscore teams
spk_0 They're they're going to crush you and that happened several times on home ice
spk_0 Which is not what you want to see happen at the Bell Center. You definitely don't want to be on the other side of that as a player and
spk_0 I think they learned their lessons and grew up together
spk_0 I see a lot of kids in this camp, you know, they're in that age range of 23 to 25 that
spk_0 They really it really feels like they've grown up like Arbor Jack guy is like number one guy on that list for me
spk_0 Kirby doc is another guy obviously two injury played seasons
spk_0 But he's like grown up a lot matured off the ice and I think
spk_0 That is probably the biggest reason to believe in them this year
spk_0 That said you guys were just talking about the Atlantic division how crazy it is. No, be even mentioned buffalo
spk_0 Oh, we did
spk_0 They saw yeah, I came in late. I came into the conversation about Detroit and whether or not they'd make it
spk_0 I think I'd have Montreal and Ottawa ahead of them
spk_0 But who knows that they've got some unheralded young defenseman in Detroit that I think they're gonna make some noise this year
spk_0 All right, I think a guy who could make an enormous difference is is bulldoke because you see in St. Louis
spk_0 How did nice year and it was actually one of those perfect deals where
spk_0 Montreal could use a young score and St. Louis needed a young defenseman and Logan Mayu goes there makes total sense
spk_0 Do you think bulldoke gets top six minutes? Do you think he can is a guy that can get 25 goals and
spk_0 I guess it depends on his power play usage like where do you see him fit in there because that's getting a guy who's already proven
spk_0 He could score in the NHL. He's a French kid so you know that can sometimes hurt him a little bit if he isn't playing
spk_0 Well, I think but it could also kind of elevate his game and his status in the city if he is lightening up
spk_0 Yeah, I think he's a great addition for the Canadians and that he scored 19 goals a rookie in this league and he's 22
spk_0 And he's fits right in with the core of this team the other thing is aside from the fact that he can put the puck in the net
spk_0 Especially from the bumper position on the power play
spk_0 He plays with some balls like it's not like the Canadians were the toughest team in the league last year
spk_0 We saw what happened when they ran into Washington and you know
spk_0 I think they stood there ground in the end
spk_0 But those first couple of games they practically got ran out of the rick so
spk_0 Adding a guy like bulldoke who plays a direct hard style of game
spk_0 You know they could use him and they could use more of that and I think that's by Florian Jack
spk_0 I got such a long look
spk_0 In this training camp he proved that he's not that far off from playing the NHL
spk_0 He's much closer to it than anybody would have assumed when he was drafted 101st overall as an overager
spk_0 so
spk_0 I think when you look at those types of players and and that's like the complimentary piece to what this young talented group needs and
spk_0 I I really like what I saw from bulldoke because each day goes a lot
spk_0 I think you guys know what it's like to join another team and
spk_0 Learn a new system and learn new linemates and be in a new market and all that stuff
spk_0 And it's I think it's particularly challenging to do when you're young in your career
spk_0 But the progression I saw from him through camp and he suffered a little minor injury that I don't think will prevent him from starting the season on time
spk_0 You could see towards the end of the last game that he played like he was he was showing exactly what type of player is and that that to me is a player
spk_0 That's good really good really gonna help the Canadians my biggest question for the Canadians going in is goal tending
spk_0 But the Dolby is Dolby is that how you say Dolby?
spk_0 He's been amazing all camp now like is he a guy is he gonna get more is he gonna get more playing time
spk_0 He wasn't great last year. He's a big guy athletic guy
spk_0 Like if he can give you 30 40 games like I didn't play well
spk_0 That's a huge advantage for you guys. Well montenbo is pretty much got the net right
spk_0 Montenbo has got the net Dolby started his career with if he was five wins in a row in the games like Florida and Colorado
spk_0 He's part of that heater that the Canadians were on post Christmas where they had this insane road trip where they played
spk_0 The last force Stanley Cup champ is and beat them all and they lost the one game
spk_0 They lost on that five game trip was the Chicago and they put up like 44 shots on that probably should have won that game
spk_0 All to say Dolby's had an electric start and then you know regulated a little bit
spk_0 He's he's a little all over the place
spk_0 He's super competitive though. He's a he's a battle where I think guys like to play for a guy like that
spk_0 And it's kind of the perfect position for him to come in he didn't allow a goal in preseason
spk_0 I don't know. I don't think that's predictive of anything
spk_0 But it shows that you know
spk_0 He was coming in with a bit of a battle with cackin in coming in behind him and it was like hey
spk_0 You're just a kid we can send you down without waivers. You better show it and he did and he's got a he's got a great like attitude about him
spk_0 He's got some
spk_0 He's got some
spk_0 How do I how would I put it like he's got swagger?
spk_0 He's got swagger the kid and and to be able to push a guy like monta boke was
spk_0 Really progressed year over year with the cadians
spk_0 I think that only helps monta bose
spk_0 Proving to be a really solid goal. He was a guy who when he came to Montreal people were like this guy's not an NHL goal tender to
spk_0 A year later those same fans were begging for him to become the starter. So
spk_0 I think they've got a good mix in that behind them
spk_0 They got Jacob Fowler who I think might be one of the best goal tenders not me NHL
spk_0 He's going to get some key professional experience and even with kapo kakkin in coming in he had great run with florida's
spk_0 Minor league affiliate all the way to the caulder cup finals last year. He's got some NHL experience as a safety net to bring
spk_0 Fowler along in the hL, but also if you have a bit of a
spk_0 You know a lag for a guy like gobesh
spk_0 He doesn't step up and play those 35 games or whatever it is
spk_0 You know he could be down in the minors and kakkin could be coming back up
spk_0 So I think it's good debt that they didn't otherwise had had they not me in that move
spk_0 I think the the may you trade makes a lot of sense probably knowing they were going to try to get Noah dobson
spk_0 I guess maybe I was a little surprised because I feel like at least early in his career
spk_0 um
spk_0 I don't want to say one dimensional because that insults a defensive game
spk_0 But maybe a lot more upside offensively than defensively and don't really know
spk_0 How that works in with the power play situation considering you have lane hudson
spk_0 How do you feel like that's gonna impact the team and did you like that move bring an m in and paying him what they paid him
spk_0 Yeah, like it's like you said this then you they were getting dobson you're trading from a surplus position on the right side of your defense to go get
spk_0 Something that you desperately need upfront. It's not like the Canadians are a complete team upfront
spk_0 Even them adopt playing the full season this year. Bulldood comes in brings those elements that we talked about before
spk_0 Maybe I think is on his way to a very solid career and say Lewis
spk_0 I think he needs that runway to be able to prove that he his floor is at the right place so that you can play him enough
spk_0 And I think that's gonna take some games like you're gonna have to allow and to make a few mistakes
spk_0 And so he builds up the feeling as though those aren't gonna have him park on the bench
spk_0 And I think a guy like Jim Montgomery is only gonna help him. He's got snarl in his game. He's got edge
spk_0 He's a good kid who went through a lot of things
spk_0 You know
spk_0 Prior to arriving in Montreal and and really grew up and was forced to grow up
spk_0 He missed a lot of game time because of his situation, but also injuries
spk_0 And you know when you had Ryan Backer coming up on the right side for Montreal and you've got dobson in and you've got gulied there and you've got
spk_0 Jack I and Alex Carrier you're trading from a surplus to be able to address in the even
spk_0 I think
spk_0 You know you look at the Canadians defense. I talked about the maturity level of that young core and not being the main reason to believe in Montreal's playoff chances
spk_0 Look at the defense like you have Matheson and dobson and you've got Hudson and Gully and on your third pair
spk_0 You've got Jack I and Carrier and Jack I for me is the standout of this camp like he has become
spk_0 His camp was so good in the way he played. He's way faster way more mature processing speed a lot quicker
spk_0 A similar kind of process defensively that he's gone through that may you will will have in front of him now because he's
spk_0 Not the same, but he's got some of those elements. He can fight he can do all the physical stuff and he can really play so
spk_0 Like Alex Carrier like I don't I don't know what the hell happened that he ended up in Montreal on a trade that nobody had on the radar for Justin Baron
spk_0 That guy if you put him as a number four on three quarters of the teams the league
spk_0 He's not just like there. He's a good one. So that defense is deep. It's good
spk_0 Jaden Shrewbell starting on the outside looking in like he's a solid NHL defenseman
spk_0 That's that's a big reason to believe the Canadians could continue on the path they started on last year
spk_0 But just go back to the dobson like like
spk_0 How do you think that's gonna work out offensively like he's typically an offensive defenseman like well
spk_0 How many reps will he actually be getting on on the power play when you have a guy like lean Hudson
spk_0 And it was also wonder and like
spk_0 What like what why didn't he sign like why you know, you see like a guy like you look huge sign you see
spk_0 Jackson LeCole why didn't Lane Hudson in contract? Oh, would you have would you have offered him eight times nine?
spk_0 I think that's a I it's a very reasonable deal for Lane Hudson at this stage like I think there's a lot like a lot of fans
spk_0 So like Pam whatever he wants like he's amazing. He is amazing does anybody deny the fact that he's amazing
spk_0 And 66 points tied to Larry Murphy for the record for a shell the fas but as a rookie
spk_0 uh, you know, he's an incredible player the thing is
spk_0 The way the NHL works is when leverage is on your side you get a great deal and when it's not on your side
spk_0 You in your offered that type of security. I think it's a great deal. It would set him up if it's eight times nine
spk_0 And that's where it ends up, you know if it's eight times nine point one if it's eight times
spk_0 uh eight point nine whatever it is like
spk_0 I think that's a reasonable place for Lane Hudson to end up
spk_0 He gets a ton of bank and when he comes out of that contract that 29 years old
spk_0 He's gonna sign one of the most lucrative contracts in history if
spk_0 If you know he stays healthy and if he doesn't well, he'll have set up 10 generations of his family
spk_0 It is a negotiation like that's how it goes you ask me about dobs and biz
spk_0 the power play spread
spk_0 Like I think the Canadians are just happy to finally have two units like a year ago if you looked at their second unit
spk_0 I think they got three or four goals out of that for the entire season now
spk_0 You've got a unit where dobsin and lion air playing and you got another one where Hudson Demadov coffee
spk_0 This is you here playing and you've got guys like Gallagher and doc and new oak and bulldoork and
spk_0 There's a mix there where if you're not going on any given night
spk_0 You may not be the first power play
spk_0 It's it's almost equally weighted line. I had 15 power play goals last year and I think you know
spk_0 We've seen some signs we saw some some negative signs
spk_0 But we've seen some signs that the five on five game might come up a bit for him
spk_0 Which would enable him to gain the confidence to be able to contribute not just on the power play so
spk_0 Let's see how it goes. I mean we talked about it earlier like there really isn't that many
spk_0 Second unit power plays the majority of the teams the first units taken a minute 20 you're getting the pockets getting sent down
spk_0 You're getting 20 seconds maybe on this so I think a lot of it's gonna have to be with dobsin being okay with that
spk_0 Biz and like not getting pissed off and be like why am I not on the first power play?
spk_0 That's where it's a little bit difficult because like you're you're acquiring a guy where that's part of why you're getting them
spk_0 But then yet he's not able to get the reps as to what you're kind of paying him for right so
spk_0 That that to me was was where the question mark was where where what they have in lean Hudson
spk_0 And then why you would acquire no with the option like that's assuming though
spk_0 They're paying them because they expect him to be a little bit better defensively and a little bit more well-rounded
spk_0 Is that is that the case? Have they talked about maybe where where he was defensively or are they not concerned about that?
spk_0 Listen, I think it's a fair question. I'm what it when you guys air this what time on Monday year this six AM
spk_0 Morning six AM yeah, okay
spk_0 By the time this air is it will not have happened, but I'm sitting down and already saying we tomorrow
spk_0 So I'm gonna ask him what he what he's looking for as far as a dynamic is concerned on power play and how he keeps everybody like you guys know
spk_0 The dynamic within a room better than anybody keep it everybody happy, right
spk_0 Lot of mouths to feed, but if you got paid if dobsin got that money and you know
spk_0 At least for him. He's not on the first power play once you're paid
spk_0 If I don't I don't feel like it bothers guys as much maybe I'm completely still want to live up to it though
spk_0 You still want to live up to the money a period to be either clat and and you're exactly right ends because if you're no adoptsin and you just took
spk_0 The most expensive contract in Montreal and you come over here and you're coming off
spk_0 Not a down season, but a season that was down for a 70 point season year before that
spk_0 Like you think Montreal fans are extremely patient with guys who make 9.5 million dollars in year one of an eight year deal like
spk_0 He's got to get his opportunities and and say Louise a big believer that confidence is built on the power play like it translates directly to higher you got to play at five on five
spk_0 I'm I think and I can't say for sure because I haven't sat down with him yet. I think the dynamic he wants to create is major competition and be like
spk_0 You know you're throwing Suzuki Hudson coffee old demadov on the ice
spk_0 And if they're not sharp on like the first reps of the night
spk_0 They're the second power play unit for the night so like
spk_0 You know
spk_0 I deal you get more than one power play in a game, but I think Lane Hudson's old man
spk_0 I'll be fucking barking from the bottom of what about the tin foil
spk_0 Hat theory that you give dogs in a go you hope the first power play lights it up then the numbers aren't there
spk_0 And then you're like wow on Hudson's healing me lane
spk_0 Here's five
spk_0 Advanced at least the contract little bridge
spk_0 All right angles
spk_0 For a while now there's birdies chirping that Montreal's like looked into trading for a second line center
spk_0 If Kirby doc if he's able to put it all together and stay healthy the poor guy he came on our show
spk_0 I think after his rookie year great dude stropping f-bombs didn't give a shit
spk_0 He's been crushed by the injury buck like every year it's something
spk_0 So I like him a lot on root form if he were to be able to live up to
spk_0 What you thought of him is a 19 year old maybe you're not here in rumors of needing a second line center there
spk_0 Would you agree? I would say this about Kirby. I think Kirby is extremely motivated and and I personally I believe in Kirby
spk_0 You know I sat down with him at the beginning of the training camp
spk_0 Because I wanted to talk to him and and get give him an opportunity to tell his story of what he's been through
spk_0 Right he's tears his ACL MCL in the second game of season where he looked like he was gonna explode
spk_0 And then he rehabs the whole thing comes back last year plays you know
spk_0 50 odd games and tears the ACL on the same
spk_0 Like if you could imagine what that's like mentally let alone physically it's a god had to have been unbearable
spk_0 But when I said that you know jack guy and the rest of the Canadians and Kirby are guys that have really like grown up
spk_0 He really learned from those experiences
spk_0 You know what I sat down with him last year in the middle of the year when he was struggling before he got hurt
spk_0 And I just said did you give yourself the best opportunity
spk_0 To have you know to come back from the ACL MCL injury like did you have the proper summer that would enable you
spk_0 Even though you knew you were gonna lag at the beginning of the season
spk_0 To get it together and refine your rhythm and he said no like I just didn't treat it
spk_0 The way I needed to and he came back on that when I sat with him at the beginning of the straining camp and said
spk_0 I learned a lot from that
spk_0 He also learned and this is something probably for Alex Barkov to keep in mind because he just tore his ACL MCL
spk_0 Kirby said that from weeks 8 to 14 in his first rehab
spk_0 He felt physically good enough to start pushing it again
spk_0 And that was a critical time for healing to happen and not be pushing
spk_0 There's a certain fusion that needs to happen with a knee reconstruction that if you push it at a certain point in that rehab from the weeks 8 to 14
spk_0 You're risking
spk_0 That area not strengthening the way it needs to and that happened to him the first time and it slowed down
spk_0 His rehabilitation his ability to train properly in the summer and get back to what he wanted to be
spk_0 So he learned from that the second time he took it easy during those weeks
spk_0 He pushed extremely hard during the summer
spk_0 He's in the best shape that he has been in since he came to Montreal
spk_0 If he plays with the type of guys that he's set to play with right now
spk_0 And it should be I think sack ball duke and Brendan Gallagher start
spk_0 They're two direct guys to give him an opportunity to find his time in fact
spk_0 Will he inevitably end up with Demadov maybe even line a two
spk_0 I think it's not dead. It's that that's how camp started it didn't look good in one game. They changed it up
spk_0 But
spk_0 We'll see now the other side of your question and sorry to be so long-winded about it
spk_0 Is what's gonna happen with Sydney Crosby now? I'm a believer that Sydney Crosby can end up in Montreal
spk_0 Wow, I think if he played anywhere it would be much more and goes
spk_0 I believe the Canadians clip it gee what love would love to make it happen
spk_0 And I believe that anybody else that's in the race for Sydney Crosby can't necessarily give up as much as the Canadians would
spk_0 To take care of Pittsburgh, but two things need to happen one the Canadians need to be good
spk_0 And two the penguins need to be really bad. So we'll see where that goes
spk_0 I think regardless of what happens with Kirby this year where Alex newhook who's in that kind of middle six opportunity
spk_0 Same as Kirby is
spk_0 If SIDS available
spk_0 I don't think either of those guys are gonna be like no no no no I got like yeah
spk_0 Hey the headline business Crosby for for two C in Montreal. They got their second line center
spk_0 Yeah, I don't know if we label them two C
spk_0 I don't just I don't discuss the Crosby rumors
spk_0 I've put myself above that I have one theory on Crosby and why he'd stay in Pittsburgh and it's got nothing to do with the loyalty factor
spk_0 Like this guy's used the same jockstrap for his entire career
spk_0 He's like we're in the same crusty hats. It's you got draggory. It's what a hockey DB looks like is he looking to up end his entire routine and in use like
spk_0 Maybe he could wrap his mind around it for the opportunity to not only like
spk_0 Chase winning again, but do it in a place where he is a god if he's already a god in Pittsburgh but
spk_0 He he would come to Montreal and not just be up on the bandwagon of a Stanley Cup contender
spk_0 He would be a huge part of driving that
spk_0 With a guy like Ivan Demidob next to him and I think you guys have an idea of what that player is gonna look like
spk_0 If you don't you might want to tune in some Montreal games this year
spk_0 Oh
spk_0 Speaking of Demidob I heard him and um
spk_0 Oh, what's his name there
spk_0 Capinan I heard they've had some crazy like they look unbelievable together
spk_0 You think we'll see them together at any point. I know it's too young guys to put on a line might not be able to do it
spk_0 But I heard their their connection is off the charts right now
spk_0 Yeah, I don't I don't know if it's off the charts, but they're gonna start together playing with new hook
spk_0 um
spk_0 Capinan's like a super-headie 22 year old kid grew up in the Swedish league and put up some big points there
spk_0 His play away from the puck is much more mature than 22 years old, which is a reason why he made this team before the final game
spk_0 Was even played to the point that say lawee was like I don't need to see this line again like we're good
spk_0 Um pretty rare to have that happen in a training camp let alone a place like much real or the expectations are always
spk_0 Up and up and up
spk_0 That kids a really smart player
spk_0 He has great abilities with the puck, but to be able to execute it at this level
spk_0 He needs the repetition
spk_0 So it's still the jury's still out because their camp was so competitive that some of the kids they sent down
spk_0 Whether it's Owen back or Florian Jack guy who brings a totally different dimension to the game
spk_0 Like if Capinan
spk_0 Stumbles out of the gate. I'm not sure how long his runway will be like that's kind of the competition depth
spk_0 That's been created in Montreal and
spk_0 I still think though the kid plays a great two-way game. He's got a really good head for the game and if his touches
spk_0 Become more confident, which I don't see why they wouldn't play with a guy like Demadov who's gonna put him in those positions
spk_0 Um, I think he'll be here to stay
spk_0 My last one is you gave us two hot takes last year and we're right on one of them
spk_0 What are your three Montreal hot takes for this to be he just gave the one crossby?
spk_0 Well, no aside from that we don't talk the rumors on this podcast. We do we do I
spk_0 Don't that's for a man who's created thousands of them Eric. Yeah, I'm a new man
spk_0 It's not really a hot take to suggest Demadov's gonna win the call there is it
spk_0 Back to back wow
spk_0 Back to back never happened after not having a call there winner in Montreal since Kendra and rest of peace
spk_0 Lane Hudson wins it and Demadov becomes second guy
spk_0 I guess we could qualify it as hot take right there's some good competition for Demadov
spk_0 I think that's a big time hot take. I love it. I love it
spk_0 I think he's more
spk_0 Unfavorite is practically a cool take. It's warm. Okay warm take this. Yeah, he's plus 185 to win it
spk_0 I'll take Montreal on the playoffs
spk_0 Over Detroit Buffalo
spk_0 And I can't put them ahead of Ottawa this year unfortunately, okay
spk_0 That's a semi-lux warm hot take as well then fans will have to wait to roast me
spk_0 Like look at the east like our jersey in New York and amiss the playoffs this year after last year
spk_0 I don't think so who who will be
spk_0 Who will have the most amount of goals for the Montreal Canadians this year?
spk_0 Polkoffield goal coffee. No question about it. Does he make the US Olympic team?
spk_0 I think the US Olympic team, you know, it's pretty hard to move anybody out of place from what we saw for nations
spk_0 But I think their emphasis on size where it's cool
spk_0 The one thing I would say is when the scouting was done before the tournament
spk_0 Uh last time around for the foreignations like cold was firing the puck into the net
spk_0 But his complete game wasn't where we expected to be based on the development he had
spk_0 Beer prior his second half of the season like if you watch this kid play
spk_0 It was not
spk_0 Not just about the goals. He he really plays a complete game and he wins most of his puck battles for a guy who's undersized
spk_0 I think if he starts that way this year he gives himself the best opportunity to be on
spk_0 What the best version of team USA ever like it's a hell of a team to try and crack
spk_0 I think if he doesn't make it it's just because they're obsessed with the size factor and I don't blame them for being that way
spk_0 Because I think we know
spk_0 You know what what wins when it comes to must win type of hockey
spk_0 I just think Cole plays a lot bigger than he is and I if it were me picking the team
spk_0 I would give him a really serious look
spk_0 Rookie of the year odds just quickly. Demodov plus 185 the next
spk_0 Closest is Z. Boulier at plus or 12 to one
spk_0 So based like not really a hot take. I think everyone kind of thinks he's gonna get it done snuggler roots also 12 to 1
spk_0 Meces 14 to 1 Isaac Howard 16 to 1. Oh and posh's boy grits you 40 to 1 the hot take is if if
spk_0 The Canadians are good and the penguins are brat are bad
spk_0 Crosby comes here in the Canadians finish ahead of the Leafs in the standings
spk_0 You fucking asshole you've got you've been working even chucking weights and playing pickleball now you're getting fucking tough
spk_0 Hey, all right, you keep my fucking Leafs out of your goddamn mouth all right
spk_0 I thought he doesn't talk about the Leafs with no never Eric what what how long of a leash do you think line A has because you saw it towards the end of the year last year
spk_0 He's got got scratched a little bit not on the power play like how long do you think his leash is short listen
spk_0 This guy put up 20 goals last year
spk_0 He blew it isn't he in the first preseason game you played he went through a lot he fell back in love with the game
spk_0 He had a good summer and NHL summer summer where you're on the ice a lot and you're working out in the gym
spk_0 It's what you expect of a player who makes a good amount of money and has the type of talent he has
spk_0 The game for him needs to be simplified
spk_0 He needs to play it directly he needs to play it within the contract of what Sanla we expect to see from his team
spk_0 It's it's making ordinary simple plays mario's been talking about ad nauseam like
spk_0 Make the simple plays do the ordinary things so that you get the opportunity when it when you get the opportunity to be extraordinary
spk_0 You can take advantage of it, but you're not hurting our team like
spk_0 The way this team has to run
spk_0 Right now based on where they've come to and they're development of what's expected of them in this city
spk_0 You can't be coloring on your own page you can't be doing it your own way like you play the way the team needs you to or you don't play and that's
spk_0 I think that message was already sent Patrick line eight in this training camp you went from a line with
spk_0 Kirby doc and Ivan Demadov to one playing with Jovo Lano and Owen Beck
spk_0 I'm not sure where he's starting the season. We got some practices to go and I believe
spk_0 Based on some of the actions I've seen from line A on the ice that the message has been received
spk_0 If he plays the right way if he plays the simple way if he gives the puck
spk_0 To what will be elite playmakers if he plays with the guy like them and up and get some self into position shoot it
spk_0 He's gonna be just fine
spk_0 No one expects that he's gonna be the best five on five player on the team
spk_0 But he's got to do the non-negotiable parts of the game in order to get that ice time
spk_0 And then you know
spk_0 He's unbelievable on the power play. I mean who's who's gonna take anything away from what this guy can do on the power plays
spk_0 Absolutely elite and having a right-handed shot like the ops and passing it to him or having hot sin the his creativity
spk_0 Or Demadov and his creativity the suck guys in and then throw it over to his side
spk_0 If he shoots it if you get to clean look you don't even need a scream. He's gonna score. So
spk_0 Play the five on five game and you'll get your chances on the power play
spk_0 But that leash is going to be short and not just for him for every player on this team Eric angles hot take of the century
spk_0 Crossbeat to them and then the audience and finishing about the leaves. Thank you very much for coming on
spk_0 We'll catch up with you soon for sure and they are a fun tip to watch
spk_0 I love watching games at the Bell Center. So that won't change. We'll see you later. Yeah, I don't guys honestly
spk_0 I don't know how great the Canadians will be this year
spk_0 I know they're gonna be super entertaining and I think we're going into an era where they're gonna be one of the
spk_0 If not the most compelling team in Canada because what they'll have going on with Ottawa's rivalry is gonna be incredible
spk_0 um
spk_0 They'll be right there. So it's it's gonna. It's fun kinds ahead for Montreal fans anything
spk_0 All right, let's go baby. Love it. Thank you so much. I mean
spk_0 Yeah, it doesn't even mention the Leafs in terms of rivalry just brings up the Ottawa rivalry well cut probably because of what happened
spk_0 In preseason guys. I I'm
spk_0 As of now I'm uh
spk_0 I'm going with Detroit over Montreal
spk_0 I'm seeing my he might have made me flip
spk_0 Well, yeah, if Crossby gets traded there
spk_0 We can replay this we can edit it and we can have those guys get in that was that was that would be a wild wild day on the internet
spk_0 If Sydney Crosby went to the Montreal Canadians
spk_0 Biz did you end up getting out to see Gavin McKenna live?
spk_0 I didn't know I drove I drove three straight days and I was pretty tired especially on
spk_0 Thursday night I slept in my car. I was I slept in my car for four hours
spk_0 Yeah, I had a haircut booked and it was the only one I could get in before I go on TNT and I needed to like clean myself up
spk_0 I had a full
spk_0 Fucking beard and and tough salad
spk_0 So I had to get to see my guy and then I was just tired and then I figured I'd just keep up online and
spk_0 Everything is advertised. I mean holy shit, man. He can make plays under pressure
spk_0 So calm
spk_0 Just the way that he positions himself in the offensive zone where he just even that pass he made over to the the far side guy
spk_0 Who ended up scoring that goal like just a little little touch right wasn't much the one play on the power play
spk_0 He didn't even end up getting to sys on he was like the left point man
spk_0 And he has a guy coming barreling down on him where you know
spk_0 I would have fired it down the wall the minute that guy started getting his boots going towards me
spk_0 And then the guy ends up stopping up a little bit
spk_0 He didn't panic. He just makes a little play down on the half wall for the next guy
spk_0 And they ended up going tic tac toe into the back of the net. So just
spk_0 very very impressive and
spk_0 Couple nice apples on the Friday game and then ends up getting the game winner
spk_0 On Saturday with under two minutes left on that power play on the far side. So
spk_0 remarkable young talent
spk_0 And I loved the the chippinus from him. I'd never seen any clips of him
spk_0 Joshing at fans in junior. I think in junior he was the top dog where people just more came to watch him play in marvel
spk_0 That him where you get these college crowds with these college kids and they know that he's got a target on his back
spk_0 So they're just fucking chirping a nonstop overrated
spk_0 Duh
spk_0 So he fucking gave it right back the same way I talked about Rory McElroy
spk_0 shoving it up all the fucking
spk_0 Americans fans hoops
spk_0 Gavin McKenna came to ASU and at the Molotorina left given the double barrel just like Rory did
spk_0 So shut up to Gavin McKenna everything is advertising the first two games
spk_0 And I hope he continues his success and he will be first overall pick
spk_0 I'm very curious
spk_0 Keith quickly
spk_0 Where were you parked when you slept in your car?
spk_0 I just
spk_0 No, it just like you pull over there was like a like a road on the side of the high the rest
spk_0 No, it was just more about how like I ran out of time like I knew I had to be back to Arizona for 940
spk_0 So it's like why would I bought and by the way like where I am on the highway
spk_0 There's like like once you get to a certain point
spk_0 Um like it's like near Pager, Arizona
spk_0 Like a little pass that you're kind of like in the middle of the desert
spk_0 That ride the nightmare
spk_0 It's a bit of a nightmare. So I just figured out I'll pull over
spk_0 Sleep for three four hours and then get up and then power through
spk_0 So I ended up getting home just in time to get to my haircut
spk_0 So your guy your guy couldn't have pushed your haircut back a couple hours
spk_0 No, like he's booked up solid like he just like he's just like I mean what time you got available and like
spk_0 I don't expect him to work around me. It's just like hey what time you have available 940 be here then okay. See you then
spk_0 So no, I know you would never expect it
spk_0 But if you were like hey do you have noon or anything? I bet you need help yo right but but yeah
spk_0 That would have cut that kind of freaked me out a little bit
spk_0 I think solo in my car off the highway in the middle of the desert
spk_0 Yeah, you locked the door you locked the door you don't fucking leave the door unlocked the come on you get the windows down to save money
spk_0 I slept in the cab in the back. I put a blow up mattress back there
spk_0 Used his shirts hung up as his blanket I drove I drove through a bozeman and then and then drove and then stopped in Jackson for a night
spk_0 That was nice. I had to see my neighbor there and
spk_0 Yeah, I love I love driving through there. Would you listen to most of the ride?
spk_0 Lot of silence a lot of silence
spk_0 Thinking or raw dog and and then
spk_0 Oasis I've been on a wasis kicks since I playing with con man at the chickles cup
spk_0 Con man a lot of oasis
spk_0 Con man, you see them seven times
spk_0 No
spk_0 No unless you saw
spk_0 I think it's in years right
spk_0 Yeah, they just went this year he's seen them
spk_0 No, he's seen him for he went to the Toronto back-to-back shows and he actually opened up it went to the opening shows
spk_0 Cardiff yeah, he went to their their big rugby stadium there, which I've actually been I went to a I went to a
spk_0 Samoa and
spk_0 Wales rugby game
spk_0 There that was probably a hell of an environment or maybe it was England Samoa and England it was awesome crowd. That was awesome
spk_0 Oh, yeah, wait, did you say first Samoa and who
spk_0 Wales I thought it was Samoan whales, but it was actually Samoan England in whales
spk_0 That's where the game was hosted this was the all blacks
spk_0 No, no, Samoans are are very close but not but they're but a lot of the same um
spk_0 I think there's a decent amount of Samoans on the all blacks, which is a new New Zealand they
spk_0 Those are those are the guys where they do the hawk
spk_0 Yeah, you like you don't want to end up in a bar scrap against those guys
spk_0 They are just built different. They don't need the coke to get coke toft either
spk_0 They just have a couple pops and they are built like a brick shit house
spk_0 They you know that the what's the what's the football thing where you do like in the hole
spk_0 Where they just run at each other? Yeah, you start on your I think you do a push-up or you roll over to a push-up and then you
spk_0 Oklahoma, Oklahoma drill
spk_0 Rather I'd rather go ahead to head with my f250 then go head to head
spk_0 Speaking of football and bad uh, I guess bad bad being down real bad weekends. Did you see the mark Sanchez story?
spk_0 Have you read this? Very bizarre? What the bizarre what happened with that one?
spk_0 I don't know and and he obviously was probably pretty intoxicated. Did you
spk_0 Read the story about how it all transpired? I've read parts where I mean he attacked the Uber driver
spk_0 I believe pepper spray wasn't an Uber driver. It wasn't an Uber so
spk_0 So the so the story that I read was there's this guy who was driving a truck and the truck was there
spk_0 To pick up the grease from the restaurant like you know all the old grease. Yep, so
spk_0 The truck pulled up and why he was at the back of this restaurant
spk_0 And and concerning himself why the fact that this truck had pulled up and was parked there
spk_0 I don't know I don't know how many beers or how much alcohol he had and keep in mind
spk_0 Maybe this story changes from when you guys hear me tell it to to what ends up being the actual truth
spk_0 But so he told the truck driver like hey, you can't park here and then
spk_0 They kind of like verbally were kind of going at it where he's like well if I hear from the people who's
spk_0 Who like run run the business then maybe I'll move the truck
spk_0 But I'm here to do my job and I'm gonna do my job
spk_0 So he got in the passenger seat and I think he's like he started like trying to like like
spk_0 Do whatever and at that point the guy pepper spray them
spk_0 To get him off and then and then that's when kind of shit hit the fan where he ended up coming around the truck
spk_0 And Sanchez started like getting in his face and at that point the pepper spray obviously didn't work
spk_0 And the guy ended up pulling out a knife because he was so scared that he's like
spk_0 Okay, this guy's a lot bigger than I am and I don't maybe he didn't realize it was Mark Sanchez
spk_0 And so he stabbed them three times in the chest and I think that Sanchez was just like shocked
spk_0 At the fact that Sanchez was like trying to get in the passenger side at that time where
spk_0 Or excuse me the driver's side at that point where what else was he gonna do right this guy was kind of coming out of him
spk_0 And then at that point he went to the hospital. He was in critical condition
spk_0 They obviously stabilized them and then
spk_0 Sanchez got arrested because he was in the wrong drunken disorderly entering a vehicle that wasn't his and and like an assault
spk_0 So recount right just the fact of wit like
spk_0 Come and try you're in the hospital bed
