spk_0 but now looking back, I really struggled.

spk_0 well, hell, I don't even know what I read.
spk_0 But I've always been really scattered.
spk_0 I bounce.
spk_0 I feel like I'm a squirrel.
spk_0 And at the end of it, I'm so frustrated
spk_0 because I feel like I could be doing so much more.
spk_0 And I feel like I have so much potential,
spk_0 but there's a cap to what I'm able to do
spk_0 and it's so frustrating.

spk_0 in my daughter's brain that I was so desperate to fix, right?

spk_0 And I'm just so fascinated to learn about our brains
spk_0 as a couple, as individuals, learn more about Charlie's brain

spk_0 Whenever he makes comments like that.

spk_0 Oh, yeah. Yeah.

spk_0 And the first game they play is, let's have a problem.

spk_0 I know more about this than I want to.

spk_0 Yeah, I love women who have ADD.
spk_0 I do not know what it is with me.
spk_0 But my first wife had ADD.
spk_0 And I just began to notice those traits in my patients.
spk_0 I'm like, why are you picking on him?
spk_0 And then I think why are she picking on me?
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 And I have six children, but Caitlin was high.
spk_0 I'm a hyperactive from before birth.
spk_0 And when she was little, she still run up to her brother.
spk_0 Kick him as hard as she could.
spk_0 And then run away.
spk_0 Lap it.
spk_0 Oh, amazing.
spk_0 And if he didn't chase her, she'd go kick him again.
spk_0 He'd write, right?
spk_0 It was just a conflict.
spk_0 Yes.
spk_0 It's just poke, poke, poke.
spk_0 Yeah, it's almost like that dopamine hit that you get.
spk_0 I get, I mostly get reactive when I'm critiqued.
spk_0 I would say.
spk_0 Do you think that's right?
spk_0 For me, but also with the children.
spk_0 Sure.
spk_0 I run a little hog.
spk_0
spk_0 That's all things fault.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Tell me when you first thought you might have ADD.
spk_0 Well, I didn't think that was never even a thought
spk_0 in my brain up until probably five or six years ago.
spk_0 I never thought I struggled in school,
spk_0 but now looking back,
spk_0 I really struggled.
spk_0 I was a hard working A, B student,
spk_0 but I had to work really hard.
spk_0 I mean, I would read books and my brain would just start going.
spk_0 And then I'd finish the book and then I'd say,
spk_0 well, hell, I don't even know what I read.
spk_0 And so I started seeing these patterns as I grew up
spk_0 that I couldn't really retain.
spk_0 It was hard for me to retain information.
spk_0 My memory, I mean, even as I've gotten older,
spk_0 I feel like has started to go.
spk_0 And I used to have great memory.
spk_0 So up until probably five, I would say five or six years ago,
spk_0 but I've always been really scattered.
spk_0 I've never been able, I bounce.
spk_0 I feel like I'm a squirrel, you know?
spk_0 Like, there's...
spk_0 I saw this squirrel coming.
spk_0 It is just, I can't.
spk_0 I'll go into a room.
spk_0 I'll get everything done.
spk_0 I can be very productive, but I bounce around.
spk_0 I mean, if you could see the zig-zags that I do all day long.
spk_0 And at the end of it, I'm so frustrated
spk_0 because I feel like I could be doing so much more...
spk_0 And I feel like I have so much potential,
spk_0 but there's a cap to what I'm able to do,
spk_0 and it's so frustrating.
spk_0 OK, I'm like a squirrel.

spk_0 Brains, hog, tires.
spk_0 Yes.
spk_0 Especially the last two years.
spk_0 Worse with your cycle.
spk_0 Yeah, rage.
spk_0 The week before, like, you can't say anything to me.
spk_0 Obviously not him, forget about it, but just like,
spk_0 road rage.
spk_0 I mean, like, if anybody cuts me off,
spk_0 I'm just like, why are you so angry?
spk_0 It's a long haul.
spk_0 Do you have your hormones tested?
spk_0 Yes, I'm in the process of doing that.
spk_0 You know, nothing is too too elevated.
spk_0 Some things were kind of trying to manage,
spk_0 but I tried testosterone.
spk_0 My hair was falling out.
spk_0 Was your testosterone low?
spk_0 A little on the lower side.
spk_0 It wasn't alarming, but it was on the lower side.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 I make something called brameteen max.
spk_0 Yeah, give it to me.
spk_0 That can help naturally.
spk_0 Yeah, I'll take it.
spk_0 I'll take all the things, really.
spk_0 Those are for you.

spk_0 And less I'm drunk and I don't drink.

spk_0 Because she grew up in trauma.
spk_0 There's, she's sensitive.

spk_0 That's the thing.
spk_0 I'm actually quite sensitive.
spk_0 But I present myself as this like,
spk_0 I have a lot of masculine energy or like directness.
spk_0 And so they're, you know, it's like you almost I have this guard up when I'm not spoken to in this like like a baby chick, you know,
spk_0 Or therapist says, you know, like you got to drop the dragon.
spk_0 You got to be the baby chick.
spk_0 If you want him to treat you like the baby chick.
spk_0 But I'm like, but I am the baby chick shouldn't you know that he should just.
spk_0 He shouldn't know anything.
spk_0 Be the baby chick.
spk_0 But you have to teach him.
spk_0 Right.
spk_0 And you have to teach her.
spk_0 What works and what doesn't.
spk_0 Because what what are the top two things you do.
spk_0 The piss him off.
spk_0 I'll walk away.
spk_0 So maybe like a form of abandonment.
spk_0 He's don't want.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Sure.

spk_0 What are the two things you do that bring him close to you?
spk_0 When I'm vulnerable.
spk_0 And when I'm able to communicate my feelings without being reactive.

spk_0 Back to the goal.
spk_0 What's the goal with him?
spk_0 Connection.
spk_0 Gentle kindness, passion, connection, healthy communication.
spk_0 Okay.
spk_0 How much control do you have over him?
spk_0 None.
spk_0 And how much control do you have over you?
spk_0 Everything.
spk_0 I mean, I'd like to have more control over things.
spk_0 But I have this acronym I like when I teach relationships.
spk_0 It's relating and the R is responsibility.
spk_0 And it's not about blame.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 And if you actually came from a story that Tana told me,
spk_0 she grew up in crazy.
spk_0 Her uncle was murdered in a drug deal.
spk_0
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 So one of her first memories.
spk_0 And the guy responsible for that was her other uncle who.
spk_0 And he was trying to kill himself went to jail.
spk_0 He was a mess.
spk_0 Years later, he's teaching for Jack Canfield.
spk_0 And Tana has thyroid cancer.
spk_0 And she goes to Hawaii where he's teaching.
spk_0 And Bobby asks, how much responsibility do you want for your situation?
spk_0 She goes, it's cancer.
spk_0 It's not my fault.
spk_0 He goes, I didn't ask you about blame.
spk_0 Responsibility is just your ability to respond to the situation.
spk_0 You want 50%, you want 100%.
spk_0 She goes, oh, I want 100%.
spk_0 And so when you know what you want, you just got to ask yourself,
spk_0 it's money behavior getting me what I want.
spk_0 Because the only one I'm responsible for is myself for sure.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 And both of you, because you've been married, how long?
spk_0 It'll be 15 years October 10.
spk_0 So there's all sorts of memories and trauma.
spk_0 Oh, you know, when your emotional brain is busy.
spk_0 And both of you are 22 when we met.
spk_0 Both of you's emotional friends are busy.
spk_0 You can filter things through negativity in the past.
spk_0 And I want you to focus on what you like more than what you thought.
spk_0 Oh, yeah.
spk_0 That's great.
spk_0 Is the goal, kindness, compassion, communication, connection?
spk_0 Okay, if I say that, and I'm I getting what I want.
spk_0 Because both of you, what you want, I would bat this goodness.
spk_0 Right?
spk_0 You want a family that works and you want careers that soar.
spk_0 You want help.
spk_0 And so it's not selfish.
spk_0 A lot of people got all that selfish.
spk_0 It's like, well, what do you want?
spk_0 And is your behavior getting you what you want?
spk_0 Definitely not.
spk_0 Probably need a workable one.
spk_0 And so that is in my mind, it's the most freeing thing.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 The most empowering thing is I know I could go home right now and screw it up.
spk_0 I get her to yell at me in under 20 seconds, maybe under 10.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Right?
spk_0 From condescending.
spk_0 Uh-huh.
spk_0 Oh, yeah.
spk_0 By little her.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 By make her feel small.
spk_0 Yeah, criticize.
spk_0 She'll bite me.
spk_0 Yep.
spk_0 I can bite.
spk_0 I've got a good bite.
spk_0 And if you're in a vulnerable time of your cycle, right?
spk_0 The ants.
spk_0 Oh, yeah.
spk_0 Or in charge.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 But then that's, it's like, oh, no.
spk_0 I'm responsible for my success.
spk_0 Yeah, I have control.
spk_0 I have control.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 I need to work on the control part.
spk_0 That's for sure.
spk_0 Cuban blood.
spk_0 That's perfect timing.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 She drinks it for breakfast.

spk_0 Do you know how many people your age have abnormal back MRIs?
spk_0 Right in the middle.
spk_0 Right in the middle of 40.
spk_0 40%?
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 My 70%.

spk_0 People have abnormal MRIs who have no pain.
spk_0 40%.
spk_0 Really?
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 That was the big aha for me.

spk_0 It's like it's not the MRI.

spk_0 It's the chronic stress.

spk_0 Yeah, that was kind of a habit that just became.
spk_0 I don't even know if I necessarily need it.
spk_0 It was just something like, oh, you know, when you're like, oh, I don't know if I'll
spk_0 be able to sleep if I don't take it.
spk_0 Or if I'm working, I'm like, I need to sleep.
spk_0 Okay, let me just take a little bit.
spk_0 And I don't think I make something called put me to sleep.
spk_0 That's stupid.
spk_0 The hypnosis sleep audio is great.
spk_0 Great.
spk_0 I get notes from people all over the world love going to bed with you.
spk_0 Yeah, perfect.
spk_0 You have great blood flow.
spk_0 Oh, you're brand.
spk_0 I don't have any labs on you.
spk_0 Mom with breast cancer.
spk_0 I did send labs over though.

spk_0 Yes.
spk_0 I have to haven't seen them.

spk_0 Not as much as, you know, I've never been a solo drinker, you know, not really at home,

spk_0 It was just pretty heavy drinking.
spk_0 I mean, events and parties and whatever.
spk_0 And for the last five years, I would say it's gone down a lot, but certainly in the
spk_0 last four months, I just can't do.
spk_0 It's just not worth it.
spk_0 It's the hangovers for me are...
spk_0 Well, you hurt yourself, please.
spk_0 Well, yeah, there's a...
spk_0 Yeah, physically hurt.
spk_0 Say that again.
spk_0 I got in a golf car accident.
spk_0 I was drinking.
spk_0 I wasn't driving, but my best friend was.
spk_0 And then I, on my 40th birthday, I sprained my ankle pretty badly.
spk_0 And it's all alcohol related.
spk_0 It's just stupid.
spk_0 It doesn't make me feel good.
spk_0 It feels like the worst poison ever.
spk_0 The next morning, I'm miserable.
spk_0 And it's a two to three day deal.
spk_0 It's not even, you know, oh my gosh, I'm hungover for a few hours.
spk_0 And then I get on with my day.
spk_0 I'm depressed.
spk_0 I'm anxious.
spk_0 It's not it for me.
spk_0 One or two drinks, but the problem is I'm so hard.
spk_0 I'm just driving my life.
spk_0 My clinical life.
spk_0 It's not.
spk_0 Kill it.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 No thanks.
spk_0 Okay, I have a question for both of you.
spk_0 One of the things that really irritates me when I watch telegramsion, why is there always
spk_0 alcohol?
spk_0 Yeah, oh yeah, always.
spk_0 It's like, what's the deal?
spk_0 Is it because Anis or Bush is sponsoring the show?
spk_0 Well, I bet you.
spk_0 You know, yeah, I know.
spk_0 Yeah, yeah.
spk_0 Props, it's almost immediate.
spk_0 Like they have to ask you.
spk_0 They come up to you and they say, what do you want to drink in the scene?
spk_0 Do you want like some whiskey?
spk_0 Do you want a glass of wine?

spk_0 It's almost immediate.
spk_0 But why?
spk_0 Because it prevents through society.
spk_0 And so now our children just think that's normal.
spk_0 Yeah, for sure.
spk_0 No, it's got to stop.
spk_0 The problem is I really do enjoy drinking.
spk_0 And I'm a very fun drinker.
spk_0 But it's not worth it.
spk_0 Well, you're following out drinking.
spk_0 Does it love you back?
spk_0 Obviously not.
spk_0 No, it kills me.
spk_0 The first one loves you.
spk_0 The second one loves me too.
spk_0 The second one's not what you want you to engage in behaviors you love that love you.
spk_0 Yeah, that's right.
spk_0 That's right.
spk_0 Because I want you to think about it.
spk_0 If I can get into that sort of, what's the right word?
spk_0 Cognitive dissonance.
spk_0 Part of your brain.
spk_0 So when you see alcohol or you see marijuana, you actually see poison.
spk_0 You're like, no, I like myself more than that.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 No, I don't.
spk_0 I mean, there are a lot of things I like that are deadly for me.
spk_0 Yeah, definitely.
spk_0 No, I've started to switch my outlook on alcohol.
spk_0 And when I see it now, I'm like, I don't know about you.
spk_0 Well, and I think seeing the future is good.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Stress.
spk_0 Absolutely.
spk_0 Juggling a lot.
spk_0 Sandwich generation.
spk_0 Parents just move to your community.
spk_0 And they're going to.
spk_0 They're going.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 So you have that.
spk_0 And then you have.
spk_0 Yeah, my uncle just passed away.
spk_0 My mom's just had a, you know, it's just been, yeah, it's been a lot.

spk_0 No, I have been told I do grind, but I don't.
spk_0 And I've been recommended one, but.
spk_0 How often do you see your dentist?
spk_0 One, say every six months or a year.

spk_0 And you don't have any job pain.

spk_0 I was a, it's all about me.
spk_0 I'm married to it.

spk_0 Because when you have to be better than other people, it separates you from them.

spk_0 goes with flexibility, cognitive flexibility.
spk_0 When you were pushed to be perfect
spk_0 and it had to deal with your lots at such a young age,
spk_0 so bad for your brain.

spk_0 But you can change it.
spk_0 There's not one thing about your brain
spk_0 that we can't make that better.

spk_0 And they threw out half the people who were hyperactive.

spk_0 I need to turn the batteries on and it helps.
spk_0 So I make something called focus and energy.

spk_0 I want you to try peak energy as opposed to that,
spk_0 or all and just see which one you like better.

spk_0 And then I want you to try,
