It is Tuesday, October 7th, 2025. This is another playoff edition of baseball today presented to you by Mountain Dew.
spk_0
Baha blast looking for a refreshing citrusy kick. Go grab yourself a Mountain Dew. Baha blast style.
spk_0
That dude's a blast. My man Trevor Ploof. I am Chris Rose producer, day and intern Sawyer along for the ride as well.
spk_0
First of all, I got to say your get up is awesome. It's part like Gary Templeton, Ozzie Smith with the old Padre's logo and part Chipper Jones with the mocked Erdel neck.
spk_0
I think those are all compliments. I'll take it. This is my coaching outfit. I've had just a hell of a day today. I've been all over the place. I was going to stay home from my practice today because I have to watch these games, but I'm different Chris.
spk_0
I'm just different. I brought my phone. I brought a chair and put my phone on. I had my headphones in. I'm throwing bad in practice to my guys.
spk_0
I said, I can't. You know what? Like which one's more important? I don't really know. They're both really important to me. So I did both of them.
spk_0
So I'm still in my outfit. I cleaned out my garage today. We got a dumpster here. I've been throwing a bunch of stuff away. I've been going hard.
spk_0
And now I'm doing this show and I love every second of it. Excellent. Excellent.
spk_0
A couple of really interesting games to break down and get to momentarily, but we start with a little tip of the cap and the Phillies certainly doing it right in the pregame.
spk_0
15 years ago on Monday, late great hall of famer Roy Halliday through a playoff no hitter against the Cincinnati Reds.
spk_0
Well, his two now grown sons Ryan and Braden throughout the first pitch. And it was to none other than his old catcher.
spk_0
Chooch and I got to tell you man, I saw that and it just brought back all the emotions. You know, we lost this guy eight years ago, which is kind of hard to believe.
spk_0
But to see his kids who are now grown, including one guy who looks like he could be in the band 38 special from when I was growing up.
spk_0
And then Chooch going up and getting it. By the way, people forget. Chooch made a great play to save the no hitter. There was a little like bounce right in front of the plate.
spk_0
And the bat was right next to the ball. I remember that. Yeah, fired it. So it was kind of a cool moment. I thought watching that on Monday night.
spk_0
Can we go back to what kind of love was he wearing there was a knuckleball glove.
spk_0
Oh, I don't know that was right. Stop it. That's not a regular catchers club. Is it? I don't know.
spk_0
You tell me. Look at you. You always find the most interesting. They looks a little knuckleball.
spk_0
It was interesting. You probably like give me the biggest one.
spk_0
You got guys. In the meantime, the fills they've got some serious work to do. They are down to nothing in a best of five series against the defending world series.
spk_0
James, there was a drama filled ninth inning that ended with some serious scoopage from a former MVP.
spk_0
Turner to second base. Tommy Edmond. Low throw.
spk_0
Trevvy Freeman with the scoop. And the ballgame is over. Oh my goodness. Yeah, I was just trying to really track or do anything I could to catch it.
spk_0
Those are one of the hardest ones. Those in between ones. The short one or the long one. That one's right in between.
spk_0
And you know, I went through it and thankfully it stayed in my club.
spk_0
That was a great little interview with Lauren Shahadi at TBS. Of course, did a great job in the game.
spk_0
Did you think that was getting past him?
spk_0
You know, I was just like in shock. It happened so fast. You're like, it was as routine as a ground ball gets.
spk_0
And then all of a sudden you see it in the dirt. And you know, you Freddy's sure handed over there. But I told Jake this.
spk_0
The number one thing I tell my kids is always expect a bad throw.
spk_0
And it just keeps you on your toes right there. And Freddy was he went down and got that thing.
spk_0
It's like when we look back at this whole postseason, we're probably not going to remember that play. But like I want people to remember like Freddy Freeman.
spk_0
That's that's a huge, huge plate knowing what's going on with the Dodgers bullpen. I know Rokey was in there at that time.
spk_0
It would have been first and third at the minimum could have been second and third.
spk_0
Tray might have went the second on that.
spk_0
I love that it was scary, but good for Freddy.
spk_0
Yeah, he was telling Lauren Shahadi's how it was kind of in between.
spk_0
It's not the hop that is long distance or the short hop. It's the one in between.
spk_0
And that's the one that can give you the most trouble as a first baseman.
spk_0
It was part of a wild ninth inning, right? Dodgers were leading four to one.
spk_0
They brought out Blake Trinon.
spk_0
They have to go to Vesia. They have to eventually go to Rokey.
spk_0
We had the wheel play as well after casting on us hit the double to make it four to three.
spk_0
Bryson Stodd is trying to move him.
spk_0
And Max Muncie makes the play. Mookie is covering third.
spk_0
You don't see it a ton.
spk_0
It's a great job by both Muncie and Betts.
spk_0
And the third baseman gives us the whole genesis of how this play went down.
spk_0
You know, wheel play is not something that we traditionally do.
spk_0
But as soon as we got in that situation, me, Mook and Tommy and me started talking about,
spk_0
hey, we got to try something different here.
spk_0
We can't just play standard bump play.
spk_0
And when Doc came out me with pitching change, we talked to him about it.
spk_0
And he was all on board.
spk_0
And you know, I'm going to credit Mook.
spk_0
It was his idea. We got to go, you know, he's saying we got to go wheel play.
spk_0
We got to go wheel play.
spk_0
And so we talked about how we're going to do it.
spk_0
And we got executed to perfection.
spk_0
Dave Roberts added that we don't even practices.
spk_0
We haven't practiced it like since spring training.
spk_0
And for them to pull it off in a huge playoff game like this, it's pretty awesome.
spk_0
It was perfect. The executed because Freddie was crashing on the first base side.
spk_0
He got max crashing on the third base side.
spk_0
And you know, you'd say, okay, well, second baseman is going to first base.
spk_0
Source out is going to third base.
spk_0
I'll leave second base wide open.
spk_0
But Freddie, as soon as he saw the button go to the third base, he makes a b line for second base.
spk_0
They had everything covered right there.
spk_0
My thought on the, I mean, there's so many, this play in particular.
spk_0
There's so many things to break down.
spk_0
But he is right.
spk_0
You, you, I mean, you, we used to practice multiple bump plays in spring training.
spk_0
I think they just canned it because you practice them in spring training.
spk_0
And then you never practice them again.
spk_0
And you just call the one play, which is just getting out of first base.
spk_0
But guys know how to run this play.
spk_0
You know, it's just from years of playing baseball, but to execute it, you know, in a huge stage like this and do it perfectly was, was pretty awesome.
spk_0
You know, on the filly side of it, which I think we should get into.
spk_0
Number one.
spk_0
The Harrison Bader injury had a ripple effect here where you can't run for Nick Castellanos, which is just as soon as he had said double, he should have been pinched and for.
spk_0
But you can't because you're going to pinch it.
spk_0
Harrison Bader and you got to have a pinch run for him.
spk_0
And it's a mess.
spk_0
It's a freaking mess.
spk_0
And I don't know how they fix it because Harrison Bader is one of their best hitters right now.
spk_0
And you got to, you got the job done when you got called upon.
spk_0
You got a knock, but you can't run right now.
spk_0
So like.
spk_0
If I am, if I am Rob Thompson, I might say sorry, dude.
spk_0
We got to keep you, we got to get you off the roster.
spk_0
I know that you can't come back to the world series, but how can you, I mean.
spk_0
I'm not going to say that lost in the games today because I didn't, but like that was a huge play.
spk_0
Yeah, they would have had some.
spk_0
And you wouldn't have been able to run the wheel play.
spk_0
Right.
spk_0
With a speedster.
spk_0
And I guess I don't know who would they bring in would it be a Western Wilson?
spk_0
Yeah, that's what they said.
spk_0
That's what's not super fast either.
spk_0
No, what do you have?
spk_0
No, but Castellanos at least is.
spk_0
He's like, he's always been this like very slow.
spk_0
Yeah, very, very slow.
spk_0
And it looked like he didn't get a great secondary lead on top of that.
spk_0
Now, top or did give Mookie bets a ton of credit.
spk_0
He said because he didn't break until late.
spk_0
And he said, that's what he said.
spk_0
But if you go back on the video, he broke pretty early.
spk_0
He was gone.
spk_0
Well, then maybe he's just trying to protect stock on that because he also added that when, when that happens and guys break quickly,
spk_0
we teach our guys to pull the bat back and do a slash play because the middle of the field is so open.
spk_0
He's, I mean, that is, you know, he probably should have at the very least, if you're not going to slash, just pull the bump back and say,
spk_0
let's reset this and let me, let me take a swing at it then.
spk_0
Right.
spk_0
Next one.
spk_0
Well, that's the other thing is that there are some people that said, hey, listen, Vesia is crafty as he is.
spk_0
He's not like this overpowering dominant left hander.
spk_0
Why don't you just give Stata chance to swing away?
spk_0
I didn't think they were buzzing there.
spk_0
And then they did.
spk_0
I mean, because you just got a roll one over that these are very, very good.
spk_0
Right.
spk_0
Interesting.
spk_0
Now it gets us to the Dodger side of the whole decision.
spk_0
Right.
spk_0
It's four one.
spk_0
So it's a lead.
spk_0
But in that ballpark in that city on the road against that lineup.
spk_0
Three runs.
spk_0
It's not eight runs.
spk_0
Three runs.
spk_0
So you bring in Blake Trinon who had a couple of scoreless outing so far in the postseason.
spk_0
He didn't get any outs.
spk_0
Then they have to bring Vesia in.
spk_0
I mean, Roki wasn't even up at the beginning of the inning.
spk_0
He was just like the rest of us just sitting there watching like this.
spk_0
He just had his warm up jack and I was like, okay, boys, I guess go get him.
spk_0
And so Dave Roberts was asked in the post game.
spk_0
Did you consider using Roki at the beginning of the ninth?
spk_0
He thought about it.
spk_0
He hasn't gone two out of three much at all.
spk_0
Just figuring the run right there.
spk_0
You know, Blake's pitched some of the biggest outs innings in the postseason for us.
spk_0
And felt really confident right there.
spk_0
Okay.
spk_0
So what he's saying is he hadn't been, he hadn't gone two or three.
spk_0
Meaning Roki had not worked two out of three days.
spk_0
He pitched on Saturday.
spk_0
He would have pitched Monday again.
spk_0
Well, guess what he ended up doing pitching two out of three days.
spk_0
So what is going on here?
spk_0
Who can't I some people say well, it was only two pitches, but you didn't know that at the time when you put him in.
spk_0
It could have been way more than two pitches.
spk_0
I think there's a couple of different ways to think about it.
spk_0
I don't mind him in his mind saying we got a three run lead.
spk_0
And we can't just rely on starter to Sasaki.
spk_0
Like we got to have some other guys back there.
spk_0
Why I think we've seen enough.
spk_0
Well, I agreed.
spk_0
Agreed.
spk_0
In this game, I'm not even I'm I'm going straight to Sasaki for a couple of different reasons.
spk_0
That's but I'm just trying to like put myself in his mind what he's thinking.
spk_0
It doesn't make sense to me, but to him, that's what he's thinking is.
spk_0
I got to like see it blade trying and can just flip a switch here.
spk_0
And maybe he becomes we get him in this high leverage spot.
spk_0
And he becomes the guy that we've come to know in years past didn't work out that way.
spk_0
My my thought process on the whole situation is.
spk_0
Roki Sasaki is not a reliever.
spk_0
He's not he's turned into one at a necessity.
spk_0
So give him as many clean innings as possible.
spk_0
And you had a chance to do it with a three run lead, which is a lot less pressure than the situation.
spk_0
That you put him in when he comes into face trade turner who is the batting champ.
spk_0
It's a one run lead and it's he's he's coming into the game in a not clean situation.
spk_0
So like maybe you had the right intentions if your Dave Roberts, but it was the wrong decision.
spk_0
It was right.
spk_0
I understand the thought process, which is hey, listen, if we're going to end up getting past this series and we still have eight more W's to go get.
spk_0
We're going to need Blake Trinon or at the very least we're going to need somebody else to take some of the pressure off.
spk_0
Emmett Sheen came in did a remarkable job.
spk_0
Okay, earlier in the playoffs, we saw him wasn't so great here to really good innings.
spk_0
He did give up a run, but that's fine.
spk_0
You know, when you have a four nothing lead and you give up a run, we can live with that.
spk_0
We got you to the night.
spk_0
He got you exactly where he wanted to be.
spk_0
Dave before the game was reluctant to call Roki Sasaki his closer.
spk_0
And I don't know exactly why that is.
spk_0
He said, well, I'm not going to call their closer because what if we want to use him in the seventh or eighth?
spk_0
Well, everybody uses their closer in the middle of the game now.
spk_0
It just doesn't matter.
spk_0
It doesn't.
spk_0
It just means that because of the way this game played out that he would have been your closer.
spk_0
And the whole goal is to get three wins before they get three wins.
spk_0
So if you can get two in the road and then go back home and have Yamamoto pitch game three, that's what I'm doing.
spk_0
I don't give a shit about the rest of the stuff.
spk_0
Having, yeah, isn't pitch twice in three.
spk_0
Doesn't matter.
spk_0
Put on your big point pants.
spk_0
This is the time.
spk_0
You have turned a corner.
spk_0
You're it, dude.
spk_0
And I don't know what Dave was thinking.
spk_0
It could have backfired so significantly, but it didn't.
spk_0
Everyone in society today is for the most part.
spk_0
So careful with their words because they're like, well, they're just going to twist them and then I'm it's like going to be a social media thing.
spk_0
I do.
spk_0
They're just words.
spk_0
Closer doesn't mean you have to he has to close games out.
spk_0
What we mean by closer is that's my dog for a high leverage situation.
spk_0
And if we could get him with a three run lead on the ninth, he's going to be the guy.
spk_0
Like that's all it is.
spk_0
But you know, he doesn't want, you know, it's just I see that.
spk_0
I saw that a ton with Rocco Baldelli when he did his scrum's.
spk_0
It's like he's he was so careful to not say like the wrong thing.
spk_0
But it was like it's so insignificant that it turns out like, dude, oh my gosh, like let's just just say what you mean.
spk_0
Same thing there.
spk_0
I hear you.
spk_0
If you were to do a power rankings of players in the Dodgers bullpen available right now, you would not have Blake trying and ranked higher than Rokeys, Zaki.
spk_0
No, and it's sad because we have seen Blake trying to be so freaking good.
spk_0
I know, just not there right now.
spk_0
He's not and that's okay.
spk_0
Yeah, it's okay.
spk_0
Like it happens.
spk_0
It happens to the best of them and he's had an outstanding career.
spk_0
I'm not saying he's done, but he's not as good as Rocky, Suzuki, and he's not as dependable right now.
spk_0
So for when Dave said Blake's gotten a lot of big outs for us over the years.
spk_0
Over the years does not matter what matters is 2025.
spk_0
Can I be honest with you please.
spk_0
I think I would be have I would be one of the managers that had too much faith in like my guys.
spk_0
You would pull like a Terry Frank Kona.
spk_0
He's famous.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
You always say that about him.
spk_0
I feel like I'd be the same way.
spk_0
You would be yeah, you would have to find your Brian Shaw.
spk_0
That's what you would have to do.
spk_0
Gosh.
spk_0
And then some it will be on a show and he'll be talking about.
spk_0
Oh, yeah.
spk_0
I can this.
spk_0
There's part of me that hopes you do kind of get the twins job.
spk_0
I love doing the show with you, but there's a little bit of me that wants to.
spk_0
I am not in the running for any managerial job.
spk_0
I don't want to be in the runner.
spk_0
Any managerial job.
spk_0
Hey, I would like to get paid that much, but hey, I'd like being home more Colorado is available.
spk_0
GM job.
spk_0
Just saying.
spk_0
Let's move to the Philly side of this.
spk_0
If at the beginning of the series, you said that the Philly's would be 0 to heading back to Los Angeles.
spk_0
You walked in that clubhouse and said that's what's going to happen.
spk_0
You probably would have gotten your ass kicked is my guess.
spk_0
Here's Bryce Harper.
spk_0
Where we go from here.
spk_0
I'm sure right there.
spk_0
Obviously, got to be a better job of guys on base and.
spk_0
You know, a couple opportunities as well myself and didn't get it done and earlier in the game.
spk_0
So it's got to be better and you got our work cut out for us going into LA out west.
spk_0
So.
spk_0
Like I said, you're the other day.
spk_0
You got to flush this one and.
spk_0
You know, get the next one.
spk_0
All right, so Turner.
spk_0
Schwarber Harper combined two for 22 no extra base hits one rib.
spk_0
I mean, I listen to Schwarber afterward as well.
spk_0
He's like listen, where it's.
spk_0
It's not like we're trying extra hard.
spk_0
It's just it's not working and over to you don't have time in a in a short set like this.
spk_0
To go cold, but it's exactly what's happened.
spk_0
It's happened all too frequently for them over the last couple of years in the plastic.
spk_0
That's the problem here and.
spk_0
I mean, like Bryce said, he had a shot.
spk_0
I think it was the bottom of the six there before the water scored a bunch of runs.
spk_0
He came up with two people on one out and it was striking out.
spk_0
And it part of me is like, dude, it was Blake snowing.
spk_0
He was nasty.
spk_0
So you just got to tip your cap and nobody in Philadelphia wants to hear that.
spk_0
They want their guy to be their guy.
spk_0
They want Bryce to hit the big home or like, didn't you do that against San Diego?
spk_0
I want a couple of years ago.
spk_0
Yeah, he took Bobby Suarez.
spk_0
Yeah, yeah, yeah, they want that.
spk_0
He didn't give them that.
spk_0
Here's the problem.
spk_0
It's not the problem.
spk_0
It's the reality of the sport in no other sport.
spk_0
Do you go through cold stretches in a regular season and make a deep run in the playoffs?
spk_0
It so rarely happens.
spk_0
Let me explain it this way.
spk_0
The NFL is like 17 one game seasons.
spk_0
If Josh Allen goes cold for six games or five games, the bills are not making the playoffs.
spk_0
It's just that's how it's going to end up working in the NBA.
spk_0
The best players in the league, Yokeh doesn't stink for 20 games a year.
spk_0
Might stink for two, but he's not terrible a quarter of the year.
spk_0
In baseball, you can stink for like four or five weeks, different weeks throughout the year, but it happens.
spk_0
And your team can still be great and you can put up a remarkable year just because of the way the percentages work in your sport and how we declare a great player being successful three and a half out of 10 times reaching pace.
spk_0
And so when you have two terrible performances against a great pitching staff like the Dodgers starters out of the gate that is they're all striking out nine guys a game.
spk_0
Man, that's a tough way to make a living, but there's no other way to judge them, I guess.
spk_0
It is an interesting.
spk_0
Athletic endeavor because you your athleticism gets means nothing a lot of the time as a hitter.
spk_0
You can't out athlete and a bat.
spk_0
You can't just say, oh, I'm more a better athlete like if you're a receiver and you're a better athlete than a DB, you can just make a better athletic move and you're going to get open.
spk_0
And I think the same thing is true on a basketball court.
spk_0
Put the ball in my hands. I can out athlete this guy.
spk_0
And sometimes you match up against guys at the same level, I understand that, but when you're in the box, you just don't have any control.
spk_0
You can't out athlete in a bat.
spk_0
So you're going to go through times where man, it is a guy that struggled a lot in his career.
spk_0
It is so frustrating and you want to give the best answer that you can, but you know, nothing you say matters.
spk_0
Nothing you say matters, especially in Philadelphia, all they want is for you to do your job.
spk_0
And it's a sport, you know, and a spot in this sport where you're going to get out more than you get hits by a lot.
spk_0
It's so frustrating.
spk_0
I can just see it in all of their eyes and they know their great players and they know they have a great team and they're just sometimes just doesn't happen.
spk_0
And that's just not a good enough answer to give, but it's the right answer.
spk_0
I know.
spk_0
Let's give a lot of credit to the Dodger starting rotation.
spk_0
So they've gone, Snell, Yamamoto, Shohei, Snell as their starters and their four games so far and they have yet to lose.
spk_0
Snell, seven innings, two runs, nine Ks. Yamamoto, six and two thirds, no earn nine Ks.
spk_0
Shohei, three earned in six innings, nine Ks. Snell, awesome again, six innings, did walk four, nine Ks. One hit allowed.
spk_0
This year where we're seeing guys getting pulled early in the fourth, third, one starter went two thirds of an inning.
spk_0
And I think that's a great thing.
spk_0
Man, oh man Dodgers have played this perfectly.
spk_0
And they look good.
spk_0
And I think I saw a Pedro Martinez tweet about how they're like a cobra.
spk_0
You just never know when you're going to get bit kind of love that analogy for them.
spk_0
Good.
spk_0
Because it's up and down the line up and you know, you know, it's coming.
spk_0
You know the Dodgers are going to have a crooked number somewhere.
spk_0
And you just got to, you got to try to match that.
spk_0
And when they're throwing a guy like Blake Snell who you text me, how do you hit his slider?
spk_0
And I have no idea.
spk_0
No, you're like, ass, oh, why yes?
spk_0
I never faced him.
spk_0
But yeah, I mean, there's a reason we called this roster.
spk_0
And it doesn't look that way anymore necessarily.
spk_0
We called it one of the best rosters ever constructed.
spk_0
We just said, but a lot of people said that.
spk_0
Right now they're for no in the playoffs.
spk_0
So let's they are.
spk_0
Let's reserve.
spk_0
Well, I say that because the bullpen doesn't look as good as we thought it was.
spk_0
Yeah, that's true.
spk_0
That's true.
spk_0
Other than that, I mean, we're seeing, we're seeing it all come together for the Dodgers.
spk_0
Yeah, it's look good.

spk_0
All right, just like the Dodgers, the brewers now won win away from clinching a spot in the NLCS.
spk_0
You know, Milwaukee.
spk_0
It's just a 90 mile driver.
spk_0
So from the windy city, but it certainly feels like there is a huge huge gap between these two teams right now.
spk_0
Got him.
spk_0
A rebate strikes out the side in the knife.
spk_0
And the brewers have a stranglehold in this series.
spk_0
People are wondering, you know, how does this team have the best record in baseball?
spk_0
How does this team with nobody predicted to be over 500 and then we have all the injuries?
spk_0
Certainly nobody was banking on us.
spk_0
But how did that happen?
spk_0
It's the group of people in the room.
spk_0
It's the group of people in the room that know how to wash it off.
spk_0
They know how to bounce back.
spk_0
They know how to have a bad series and understand the importance of the next pitch.
spk_0
And that relentless kind of behavior is, you know, a separator.
spk_0
That way, Murf, it's pretty good description.
spk_0
There's a lot of people that probably even baseball fans who probably watch the first two games of this series.
spk_0
They're like, who the hell is that?
spk_0
And dude, I just offer my apologies right now to the brewers.
spk_0
Sure why?
spk_0
Because I just didn't believe in them.
spk_0
I didn't believe in them at the beginning of the year.
spk_0
I didn't think they were going to make it the playoffs.
spk_0
Then once they started to roll and the Cubs had a lead.
spk_0
I was like, well, the Cubs are going to hang on.
spk_0
And then the Cubs fell back a little bit and Milwaukee took the lead.
spk_0
I was like, but the Cubs are coming back.
spk_0
And now they don't even belong in the same field.
spk_0
No, not right now.
spk_0
They don't.
spk_0
And I guess I'll start with the brewers.
spk_0
A couple of things.
spk_0
I believe in the organization.
spk_0
So I am a believer every single year in them to exceed the expectations of the outside world.
spk_0
Because they just, they have found a formula that works.
spk_0
They prioritize.
spk_0
Run prevention, but also taking the extra base.
spk_0
I think this team can beat you in so many different ways.
spk_0
And we kind of, I think we throw that term around a little bit too much.
spk_0
Throughout baseball.
spk_0
This team actually is one of those teams where they, they can run the base as well.
spk_0
And they'll take the extra base.
spk_0
They can play small ball.
spk_0
We've seen it all throughout the year.
spk_0
And now they're, they're slug woke up into this game.
spk_0
And if that comes, which we know for some reason, home runs do come in bunches.
spk_0
Like they're just, it just is like a contagious type thing.
spk_0
If that's going to be, if they're going to have any inkling of that,
spk_0
they're going to just have a smidge of the power bug.
spk_0
Look out for this team, man, because we know they're going to pitch.
spk_0
We, it seems like Murf really knows what buttons to push with the bullpen right now.
spk_0
They're, they're a formidable team.
spk_0
And if you go back to the first series of the year,
spk_0
do you remember what happened to them?
spk_0
Oh, my God.
spk_0
Didn't they give up like 87 runs against the torpedo bats?
spk_0
And they were going to be banned.
spk_0
Right.
spk_0
And even had, I think we had a few guys on the, the brewers saying we're going to ban these things.
spk_0
Who was that? That was somebody in the course.
spk_0
Yeah, you're right. You're right.
spk_0
How far has that team come?
spk_0
And torpedo bats obviously nobody cares about anymore.
spk_0
But I, I, I just think that because they can beat you in so many different ways that they're always going to be in a series.
spk_0
And they're always going to be in games like there's very, very.
spk_0
It's not going to happen very often where they're, they're going to get bow raised.
spk_0
Just not going to happen.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
By the way, they lost their fourth game in the air.
spk_0
So they lost four two to the Yankees, 20 to 9, 12 to three.
spk_0
And then they lost the home opener against Kansas City 11 to 1.
spk_0
We were like, oh my god, this. Yeah, it was bad.
spk_0
And it's quite the opposite. So a bunch of things to go over.
spk_0
Okay.
spk_0
Number one is that yes, they hit three huge home runs.
spk_0
And Vaughn is the one that kind of set this game back.
spk_0
Because Suzuki hits the three run homer in the top of the inning off of Ashby.
spk_0
And the Cubs all of a sudden are feeling good about themselves.
spk_0
Brewers put a couple guys on two down against Shoda who's been prone to the home run.
spk_0
Ball. If they get out of that inning, it's three nothing.
spk_0
Craig council couldn't, I mean, he was harping on this.
spk_0
He's like, I feel like it's a different game if we were able to wiggle out of that.
spk_0
But Devon's credit, he didn't let that happen.
spk_0
And I thought it was like an, and I was ready to call for fair catch.
spk_0
Just high as Vaughn hit that ball.
spk_0
That's really what I thought.
spk_0
But it changed the entire complexion of the game in my opinion.
spk_0
Yeah, I looked it up 39 degree launch angle.
spk_0
Just very high beautiful swing three two pitch that'll cut peace in slide or whatever the heck that was.
spk_0
And show it. Yeah, I struck out two guys to start the inning.
spk_0
A little two out based knocks and then all of a sudden Vaughn comes.
spk_0
And this is another example of the Brewer's organization.
spk_0
I mean, where would they be without this guy?
spk_0
Listen, this, this was lucky.
spk_0
I really honestly, you could say that, but they went down and then they revamped a few things in the sky.
spk_0
That's a very bad partner accurate.
spk_0
That part is that, but there's not one team that would have looked at him.
spk_0
He was the worst player in baseball, according to war, when the white socks are like, we've had enough.
spk_0
We've got to send him down. There's no way.
spk_0
But the Brewers are always looking for those guys.
spk_0
They know they have to operate like that.
spk_0
This guy's got what seventh overall draft like he has a pedigree.
spk_0
Third, whatever the heck he was, went to cow like he fits that mold perfectly for them.
spk_0
So it's a win win.
spk_0
If he stinks so what?
spk_0
Right. Absolutely.
spk_0
He did stink. He went.
spk_0
In a more believable.
spk_0
Yeah, he saved it when Reese Hoskins went down.
spk_0
I mean, Reese Hoskins couldn't get his job back because of Andrew Vaughn.
spk_0
Um, Jackson, Cheerio.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
We both said on Monday show, we didn't think that they'd play him.
spk_0
We were like, you can't do it. He's 21.
spk_0
Hamstring. Let it rest.
spk_0
They're going to have another day off after game two.
spk_0
We'll see in Chicago game three and we'll test it out then.
spk_0
Well, not only that, he turned around Palencia on an 0-201 mile hour heater and hit it to right center.
spk_0
This kid is a frickin freak.
spk_0
He is. And you know, all the signs are actually pointed to him playing.
spk_0
We just didn't really understand him.
spk_0
We talked about the inconclusive MRI.
spk_0
We talked about the fact that he didn't grab his leg when he went past first base.
spk_0
Um, but in my mind, if you come out of a game, like you must have felt something and I wanted the air on the side of caution, thank goodness they didn't.
spk_0
And I told Jake this, there was a one ball with Mizorowski was in.
spk_0
So fly ball done the left field line.
spk_0
You ran a long way to get it.
spk_0
Had to put on the brakes.
spk_0
And that to me was like, he's good.
spk_0
Let let like training wheels off.
spk_0
Go like he feels good.
spk_0
Listen, the dudes already got.
spk_0
He's also 21 Chris.
spk_0
You can't even I don't think you can get hurt at 21.
spk_0
He just bounced back like Wolverine.
spk_0
Dude, I think I was pulling muscles at 21 when I was rolling over in bed.
spk_0
That's how I'd have shaped my work.
spk_0
There's no way a 21 year old Chris Rose was a problem.
spk_0
I remember a little spiky hair young Chris Rose.
spk_0
Okay, I didn't get spiky hair till I got on best aim.
spk_0
Okay.
spk_0
What was your hair like at 21?
spk_0
I was a little late.
spk_0
I had a little mule working at times.
spk_0
No way.
spk_0
Oh, yeah, I'll bring a I'll bring an old picture.
spk_0
Yeah, I need to see it.
spk_0
I need to see a college.
spk_0
Chris Rose.
spk_0
I do.
spk_0
Yeah, yeah, it wasn't that sexy.
spk_0
It really wasn't.
spk_0
Um.
spk_0
I just want to give some numbers and put some perspective on this kid's name in the playoff.
spk_0
So this was his fifth playoff game.
spk_0
He's got three homers, which in the long story of the Milwaukee Brewers.
spk_0
Chris Rose is now tied for third only Prince Fielder and Orlando.
spk_0
I see I have more playoff homers.
spk_0
Yes, in terms of our beies.
spk_0
He's got nine only Ryan Braun and Cecil Cooper have more.
spk_0
He's played five playoff games.
spk_0
Now this year we didn't really pay much attention to him.
spk_0
His numbers were virtually identical to his rookie year.
spk_0
Virtually identical and he missed 31 games, I think, because of injuries.
spk_0
So we expected him maybe to take a little bit of a leap forward and he just kind of stayed stagnant, which is okay.
spk_0
He's 21, but man, this kid craves a spotlight.
spk_0
He's freaking awesome.
spk_0
I remember earlier this year we said who is a kind of below the radar MVP candidate and he was my choice.
spk_0
And he wasn't close to it.
spk_0
He's not going to get any MVP votes, but he might get some postseason MVP vote.
spk_0
Who would be right now?
spk_0
He's a Chris Rose question for you.
spk_0
Who would be the MVP of this series so far of this series?
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
Probably Cheerio.
spk_0
I'm trying to think there's a pitcher that needs to be involved.
spk_0
I don't think that it is because they've all just kind of they used seven pictures on Monday.
spk_0
Yeah, but why don't we get to him?
spk_0
The Miz.
spk_0
This Miz, not the Miz that I did American Gladiators with.
spk_0
This Miz.
spk_0
We didn't know how they were going to use them coming into this series.
spk_0
He came out throwing serious cheese over 104 31 of his pitches in this three inning outing exceeded 100 miles an hour.
spk_0
He was amped up, particularly this play where he was hilarious.
spk_0
Look at him.
spk_0
Look at him.
spk_0
Do you do you like this role for him coming out of the bullpen?
spk_0
I'd prefer him to be a starter.
spk_0
I think he's got this stuff right now.
spk_0
This seems very suitable for him.
spk_0
I mean, anytime.
spk_0
I guess maybe I'm on an island here, but I think we've said this though together.
spk_0
We love when a starter goes into the bullpen for the place.
spk_0
It just does something to me.
spk_0
So I like this role for him.
spk_0
Obviously as the arm talented, it's let it eat.
spk_0
We saw 104 miles an hour from him.
spk_0
So right now I like it.
spk_0
I do not want him to transition into like some sort of Andrew Miller type reliever.
spk_0
No, they're not.
spk_0
We have.
spk_0
I want him to be a starter.
spk_0
Yeah, but for this playout.
spk_0
Yes.
spk_0
I think it's ideal.
spk_0
I think it's perfect.
spk_0
Well, I don't think I don't think they can go back.
spk_0
Now, I don't think you can start him and expect him to go seven right now.
spk_0
So this is his role.
spk_0
Who's going seven other than the Dodgers pitchers who goes seven?
spk_0
You know what I mean.
spk_0
But nobody else is going seven.
spk_0
It just doesn't happen.
spk_0
Came Schlittler.
spk_0
I guess he goes seven.
spk_0
By the way, Kudos to these young guns, right?
spk_0
Look at what we've seen in the last like six days of baseball.
spk_0
Schlittler, you savage.
spk_0
Mizorowski now.
spk_0
Like this is.
spk_0
It's great.
spk_0
spk_0
Huh?
spk_0
Trio.
spk_0
Well, yeah, he's not a pitcher.
spk_0
But I'm.
spk_0
I'm talking about the pitching side.
spk_0
spk_0
spk_0
spk_0
spk_0
spk_0
I'm.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
Like, yeah, guys, it can really throw it.
spk_0
Did you see the William Contreras, Homer reaction?
spk_0
Yes.
spk_0
Did you think we put it out on John Boy Media that maybe he was mocking Craig
spk_0
Council's call to the bullpen.
spk_0
Remember earlier this year when there was a home run hit and council ended up running
spk_0
right to the bullpen phone before the ball even went over the wall.
spk_0
Did you see that?
spk_0
Do we have that, Danny?
spk_0
I think I sent that.
spk_0
Do we have that?
spk_0
I don't.
spk_0
Oh, yeah.
spk_0
That is not what I.
spk_0
What I thought you were going to bring up.
spk_0
I don't know what the heck he's doing there.
spk_0
The the call where he's like, he's hanging up on them like, it's over.
spk_0
No, he would remember when council.
spk_0
I thought I sent you that clip, Dan.
spk_0
I guess it didn't.
spk_0
Yeah, that's all right.
spk_0
If we don't get to it, we don't get to it.
spk_0
But where council was against the brewers, home runs hit, he turns and grabs the phone like right away
spk_0
before the ball even leaves the yard.
spk_0
Remember that?
spk_0
You got a fresh memory, man.
spk_0
That's all right.
spk_0
We'll try and find it.
spk_0
Okay.
spk_0
That's okay.
spk_0
Should have communicated better with Dan.
spk_0
That's on me.
spk_0
That's on me.
spk_0
Cubs.
spk_0
I have a feeling we're going to be doing their baseball obituary very soon.
spk_0
I don't even want to get to the council stuff.
spk_0
But I just want to put this out here.
spk_0
They've scored 12 runs in five playoff games.
spk_0
They're starters.
spk_0
And I include showed a game to starter, I think, in that in the wildcard where he.
spk_0
He didn't start the game.
spk_0
It was Kitchwich, but then he came in and gave him bulk innings.
spk_0
So 15 and 2 thirds from their starters in five games.
spk_0
These are some miserable numbers.
spk_0
It's been bad offensively.
spk_0
It's been bad starters.
spk_0
There's not a lot of life in the team right now.
spk_0
There's a lot of fight in them either.
spk_0
And I guess you got to give credit to the brewers because each time.
spk_0
Oh, let's get this up right here.
spk_0
Why would he care about that?
spk_0
Why would he?
spk_0
Yeah, why would he mock that?
spk_0
Because he's his former manager.
spk_0
I don't know.
spk_0
Maybe there is a backstory, but I don't I can't put two and two together here.
spk_0
It's I'm going to tell you this.
spk_0
Unlike the fillies who have to now fly cross country and think all this stuff.
spk_0
The Cubs are going to be sleeping in their own bed.
spk_0
It's true on Monday night.
spk_0
But it's going to feel like about a 16 hour minor league bus ride based on how they played.
spk_0
But think about this.
spk_0
I say they have no fight.
spk_0
I say all these things.
spk_0
I'm putting them down.
spk_0
I'm kicking that guy when he's down right now.
spk_0
Yes.
spk_0
But I think it's because.
spk_0
Look, how are these how both these games started?
spk_0
Michael Bush, home or boom.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
And then right back to next inning, the brewers answer.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
Say Suzuki three, a three spot.
spk_0
What happens?
spk_0
A three spot for the brewers.
spk_0
Like they have shut down any momentum that the Cubs have had to start games.
spk_0
And they haven't given it back whatsoever because their bullpen has been so damn good.
spk_0
So it's almost like how are you supposed to have any dog in you?
spk_0
These guys have taken it all away.
spk_0
You're right.
spk_0
I mean, let's give the brewers all the credit in the world.
spk_0
I as I mentioned, I think season is going to be over very soon for the Chicago Cubs.
spk_0
But we'll see Wednesday.
spk_0
They're back at the friendly Convines, Chema Centaion against Quinn Priester, who we thought
spk_0
might pitch in Monday's game.
spk_0
He did not.
spk_0
All right.
spk_0
Let's shift on over to the American league where the blue jays can actually be the first team to advance to the LCS.
spk_0
They have scored 23 runs in picking up a two nothing lead over the New York Yankees.
spk_0
As the series now officially shifts to the boogie down.
spk_0
Even during the regular season, same thing.
spk_0
Open four, you got to wake up and do it again the next day.
spk_0
So it's always a continuous battle and you just got to continue waking up and give him your best shot.
spk_0
It's a tough task.
spk_0
Toronto's obviously a very good baseball team.
spk_0
And, you know, I think for myself, the confidence in the locker room that we have over here is, you know,
spk_0
it's a strong bond and, you know, we've had such a fun time playing together so we don't want this right to end.
spk_0
That, of course, is Cody Ballinger, the New York Yankees.
spk_0
Now, New York was here just six days ago at home against the Boston Red Sox.
spk_0
They had to win back-to-back elimination games, which they did.
spk_0
How much is that going to help them?
spk_0
The fact they just went through it.
spk_0
Well, number one, being back at home in front of your home crowd is going to be, I think a good thing.
spk_0
As long as Rodan has a clean first inning.
spk_0
But yeah, that obviously helps them facing elimination already.
spk_0
Those are some nerves that you can't just replicate and any sort of practice or, or even during the regular season.
spk_0
So the fact they've had those reps already with that back against the wall, I think it'll help them.
spk_0
So it's obviously a little different because they got to win three in a row.
spk_0
But the mentality is, yeah, take it one day at a time.
spk_0
We got our guy, Rodan.
spk_0
We trust in him.
spk_0
He's supposed to be a stopper for us.
spk_0
So you rely on that and just try to just do anything you can to make it to the next day.
spk_0
Yeah, listen, it helps it.
spk_0
Rodan pitch game two against the Boston Red Sox.
spk_0
Got him through the first inning clean.
spk_0
Ben Rice clicks B.O. for the two run homer.
spk_0
You know, few pitches later.
spk_0
B.O. is out of the game.
spk_0
So yeah, all that will help.
spk_0
Here's the thing, man.
spk_0
You can't pitch to Vlad.
spk_0
You really can't.
spk_0
He's, do you know he's 10 for 17 lifetime against Carlos Rodan?
spk_0
10 for 17.
spk_0
And he's got a career, one daughter at Yankee Stadium.
spk_0
I can't, we make a big story every time because it's the Yankees and I'll never play for them.
spk_0
And I really, I get fired up for all that stuff.
spk_0
He's totally dodged all that stuff in the media recently, like certainly this year.
spk_0
But facts are, I don't know if he gets a superpower when he walks into that state.
spk_0
He's got a great team and faces pinstripes or whatever it is.
spk_0
Man, you can't, you can't pitch to him.
spk_0
That would be a plan of mine.
spk_0
I was playing against the blue jays right now.
spk_0
And I'm the Yankees.
spk_0
I would say, let's make somebody else be that's which they have guys up and down the line up the can.
spk_0
But surely that's one guy that you want to stay away from, as best you can.
spk_0
Are you surprised that Toronto has swung the bats this well?
spk_0
I'd be lying if I said I wasn't surprised.
spk_0
I mean, this particularly well, I know they have a line up they can get score runs and they can score runs and bunches.
spk_0
And you know, having Vlad, he doing what he's doing obviously helps.
spk_0
You know, he had made a homer in a month before the playoffs started.
spk_0
So him finding the power stroke is huge for that lineup.
spk_0
But they're, they're a team like the brewers that can score in different ways as well.
spk_0
They grind out at bats. They don't strike out, which puts pressure on a defense.
spk_0
I think they were second in the big leagues.
spk_0
We talked about that on yesterday's show.
spk_0
So for them to be able to do a little bit of both.
spk_0
Like I mentioned with the brewers, like good quality of bats and then find the long ball as well.
spk_0
I mean, that's that's the recipe.
spk_0
So the pitching match.
spk_0
I think we talked about Carlos Ronan gets the ball for the New York Yankees.
spk_0
It'll be Shane Bieber for the Toronto Blue Jays, who of course came over in a midseason trade from Cleveland.
spk_0
It'll be his first playoff start since the 2022 season.
spk_0
Anticipating a ton of energy, both positive and negative.
spk_0
And for me, you know, thankfully I've done it before.
spk_0
But really for me, I think I put myself in the best position to succeed when I just embrace it.
spk_0
By the way, Bieber with that mustache, he looks like he's doing the off Broadway edition of Ted Lasso.
spk_0
I like that.
spk_0
I don't think it suits him. He's too pretty for that.
spk_0
I know. Right?
spk_0
Yeah. Austin Hedges really likes it.
spk_0
I talked to him about it. He was like, oh, I did.
spk_0
Austin Hedges like support and stash.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
Like I want he wants to wear chaps with no underwear like he is.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
He really wants to do her chaps.
spk_0
No one dies.
spk_0
I don't know.
spk_0
People always say that all chaps are asless.
spk_0
I think they are.
spk_0
I like myself some as filled chaps.
spk_0
I don't think I think those are pants then.
spk_0
Right?
spk_0
I don't know.
spk_0
We're out of my league right now.
spk_0
Which start are you more interested in watching more closely here in game three?
spk_0
Rodon or Bieber?
spk_0
Well, I think Rodon has to be a dog.
spk_0
I mean, you're getting paid like an ace 27.8 mil.
spk_0
I got it up right here in front of me.
spk_0
But I'm more interested in Bieber because I'm just fascinated by the trade and how well it's worked out for them.
spk_0
I was not a believer in that trade when it happened.
spk_0
But he's been great.
spk_0
So I want to see how what he does.
spk_0
And you know up to oh, like what is what Schneider's plan?
spk_0
Like how like what kind of leash does Bieber have?
spk_0
He's I think I know what kind of leash Rodon has.
spk_0
It's very, very short.
spk_0
Right.
spk_0
It's a must win game.
spk_0
So for the blue jays, that's the form that's a little bit different there.
spk_0
They'd like to see him go six.
spk_0
And then go to Louis, Seranthany and Hoffman.
spk_0
Like that's what they want to do.
spk_0
I think he'll have a little bit more leeway to get out of some jams.
spk_0
Or maybe not.
spk_0
Maybe Schneider's like, let's go do it right now no matter what.
spk_0
Let's just pedal to the metal and keep going.
spk_0
I'm curious though.
spk_0
Obviously for me, it's Shane Bieber because I didn't get to watch like a full one of his starts.
spk_0
And he only made seven of them after the trade because he was still a little banged up and working his way back through
spk_0
through pitching rehab in order to get back to the major league level.
spk_0
Here's the good thing for the blue jays.
spk_0
He went at least five innings in all seven of those starts.
spk_0
Here's the other thing.
spk_0
Only more than six Ks just one time.
spk_0
Now New York has seen him in a playoff setting a couple of times.
spk_0
2020 season when he won the Saiyung in the short and season.
spk_0
They really took it to him in Cleveland really took it to him.
spk_0
And then in 2022, he pitched pretty well against New York and a game that Cleveland won in the division.
spk_0
This could be a totally different Shane Bieber.
spk_0
I mean, he is a surgically repaired elbow now.
spk_0
So I'm fascinated to see how he maneuvers and navigates and thinks his way through pitching in that ballpark against a power laden lineup like New York.
spk_0
I'll set the over under on his outing at four and two thirds.
spk_0
I will take the over.
spk_0
I think it's through five Aaron judge over seven lifetime in the regular season.
spk_0
That's that I'm looking at does not include the post season.
spk_0
Yeah, he took him.
spk_0
He crossed.
spk_0
We know Dan's in our years telling us I know.
spk_0
I know.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
I know.
spk_0
Dan is very I've never heard of a producer slash Yankee fans so excited to be down to so good luck with that.
spk_0
Dan, we.
spk_0
Good luck.
spk_0
I'm sure we'll be talking about it on the next show based on hundreds of millions of real world test the experts at ucla speed test have spoken.
spk_0
And T-Mobile now the best mobile network in America.
spk_0
So you can keep up with all the MLB post season action from the ballpark to the back country.
spk_0
Why?
spk_0
Because T-Mobile now has the most advanced 5G, the most towers and a signal that goes farther than ever.
spk_0
So whether you're streaming the game out and about your checking stats on the road or experiencing ballpark perks with magenta status.
spk_0
You are ready to stay connected wherever your fandom takes you.
spk_0
So simply head on over to team mobile.com slash network to switch to the best network going.
spk_0
You'll enjoy the baseball and life a little bit more.
spk_0
Tigers and Mariners they move from the Pacific Northwest now to the Midwest for game three.
spk_0
Series tied at one after the team split a pair of three two games for Detroit and their manager AJ Hinch.
spk_0
It's just nice to be home.
spk_0
It's nice to be home because we had to earn it.
spk_0
You know it took a lot to get back home.
spk_0
You know it took some wins on the road at the end of the season.
spk_0
It took a series when in Cleveland and then the first two games here in Seattle.
spk_0
So I think our guys will enjoy being back in Detroit.
spk_0
You know put on the English D the white unies the our crowd should be electric.
spk_0
And we're playing for you know potentially the series.
spk_0
Now do you like it that Detroit has pretty much been in playoff mode now for the last two weeks.
spk_0
And it will continue that here in game three or do you think at some point it just becomes too much emotionally.
spk_0
No I like it because the more you do it the.
spk_0
You know less emotional you get in those situations.
spk_0
So I think it's definitely a benefit.
spk_0
We kind of talk about that all the time about wild card teams and those teams that are fighting to get in.
spk_0
You know eventually your heart rate starts to slow down in those big ones because you're just you just get used to them.
spk_0
It's like you know you make your debut and everything's crazy and then you realize oh it's just it's just baseball.
spk_0
I know that never really happens in the post season to that extent.
spk_0
But you know if you have some.
spk_0
You have those games over and over and over.
spk_0
Number one you get to practice what happens in those games which is everything being magnified.
spk_0
I think that is something that you can't really ever practice in us your in them.
spk_0
So I think it's a benefit.
spk_0
You know they will have been 16 days between home games for them.
spk_0
The last home game they played was remember when they got swept at home by the Atlanta Braves which kind of parted their tumble.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
Because then they went to Cleveland to Boston back to Cleveland to Seattle.
spk_0
And now they're finally home.
spk_0
It's it's been quite a whirlwind for them and I imagine kind of physically and emotionally exhausting.
spk_0
They've done a really really good job here.
spk_0
One guy I want you to keep your eye on now that they're back home.
spk_0
Is a guy that's done a couple of really good things in big wins in Cleveland and Seattle and that's Zach McKinstree.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
I was like who really is happiest that their home and it's McKinstree.
spk_0
His OPS there is 991 at Comarica.
spk_0
It's almost 450 points better than when he is on the road.
spk_0
Out of all the regulars he has the highest home OPS batting average the most steals that little dude is fourth on their team in Comarica head home runs and third in our be eyes.
spk_0
So do not be shocked particularly with a lack of lefties and we've talked about that with the roster construction for Seattle that this guy ends up getting some big swings in that big old ballpark and utilizing that athleticism.
spk_0
I just wouldn't be surprised.
spk_0
I wonder what it is for him at the park is not an easy place to hit.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
But he sees the ball well just there's something about the angle or he's you know looking at the ball that helps him out.
spk_0
So when he eventually gets enshrined in Cooperstown we're like yeah but he played most of his career at Comarica look at his head so much.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
What are we doing here?
spk_0
Jack Flarity going for Detroit your buddy Logan Gilbert.
spk_0
He gets his second career playoff start for which team is it more important that the starter goes deep.
spk_0
I don't think it's really important for either of the teams that the starter goes deep and I don't even think they really are counting on that to happen.
spk_0
I mean both these teams like they're coming off an off day they've already had to have a game where they empty their pen and both pens did extremely well.
spk_0
I think there's a bunch of guys each team trust like I think if you look at the bullpen for the Tigers and the manners they're like five deep with guys that they trust.
spk_0
So I don't think they have to go either has to go see if if Flarity matches whatever go where does I think that's all the map like that's what they're hoping for like just match what he does unless he has a really poor outing then you don't want that but it like five would be plenty for both of these guys I think.
spk_0
Yeah well he looked great in that game three the elimination.
spk_0
Yes he did really through the ball well.
spk_0
So I went back and I wanted to see how much Detroit has been using their relievers down the stretch and that started with those that regular season road trip through Cleveland and then Boston and then back to Cleveland and now Seattle they played 11 games if you tally that whole thing up over two weeks span.
spk_0
Finnegan is thrown in seven of the 11 Holt and six Herter six best six those are the games leaders which it's not terrible with as many of those games that were super important you expect to see your best arms in there so it's bad but it's not terrible but I'm actually answer this with the Mariners I think they need some length out of Gilbert a little bit.
spk_0
I'm worried from this standpoint the Tigers have already seen Munoz Spire Brash and Bizarreau twice in two games those are some of their big arms right there we've talked about it the more these guys will see him and we saw it in the series against Cleveland right hunter gattas pitch three games and in that last game he couldn't get anybody out they saw Kate Smith in all three games and in game two they made him throw 31 pitches so that could have a real significance here.
spk_0
Like maybe can't use everybody here in game three agreed by game flow though agreed yeah I understand that point and scuba you know how they get outing in game two so finnegan they've seen him a couple times now but that's really been it but I just think they have these guys are they have a good deep pens right now so I don't think it's super important to both these guys feel like seven.
spk_0
One last thing before we get out of here did you see Mark Wagner the second based on Pire in the Phillies Dodgers game where he's making the call.
spk_0
And here it is you can see this from the base cam where he pulls his hamstring yeah he had a worse reaction than Jackson Turio did I'm saying see every time you pull so that's the first reaction is to grab it so that's how I knew he was or that was I feel bad for him but just you know I'm.
spk_0
He was in that good power stance you know really punched him out right there do you remember who was it there was an empire a bunch of years ago who made a safe call at home plate and he got down kind of in a crouching position to make the call and he either cramped or full the hamstring.
spk_0
And it was not only it was last it was I want to say it was its city field I don't exactly remember there you know I remember and this is bad Don Bale or catching the first pitch and he just like yeah that was horrible that was a bad one I think about that more often than I should yeah you probably do I get you haven't reached this age and you're not out of shape just remember this because it's going to happen.
spk_0
You know what happened to you at some point you might be like 87 when it does when you start cramping overnight and you get a cramp in your calf and you have to have Olivia like grab your foot and stretch you like Michelle thought I was having a heart attack she's like what's what's the matter is like crap crap.
spk_0
It's not good. It's not good.
spk_0
I have had cramps don't like him. I also like I don't afford to that. I hope that doesn't happen to me but I do not look like you.
spk_0

spk_0

spk_0

spk_0
I have no idea and I like it Chris Tigers win who wins game three Yankees J's.
spk_0
I'm giving the Yankees this one even I don't really believe in it either.
spk_0
Okay if that's the case then we are going to have four games to go over for Wednesday and that will be frickin awesome.
spk_0
You're going to the dodger game aren't we. I don't think so. Thanks for asking though. Why do we have Stafford seats.
spk_0
Those are good seats.
spk_0
I think you was saying he might go.
spk_0
There's no way he's going on a Wednesday. No sir.
spk_0
No they're going to ball tomorrow I think and that's London. Yes they're going right from Baltimore to London so he will not be going to the Dodger game.
spk_0
But if you get those tickets let me know.
spk_0
You'll be taking Jimmy Clawson so who am I I mean come on.
spk_0
