spk_0 the great Michelle Tafoya. Today's anniversary of the horrific slaughter of Jews in Israel

spk_0 what? We're apologizing for ripping moronic players. I want you to think about that just for a

spk_0 second. We'll talk about it right now. Don't at me when now. You know, I'm going to tell you,

spk_0 the up is down, down is up. The world is insane right now. And the NFL, well, honestly,

spk_0 God, it's absolutely no different. You know, all of you, I didn't really play football. I played

spk_0 in eighth grade and, you know, I remember not wanting to play because I wanted to go to a double

spk_0 header at Kamiski Park with some older guys that were driving a car. So I didn't love football. I

spk_0 love the day off. That's right. I love Mondays. Kick and feel goes into grass. I like it. Basketball,

spk_0 I love this. So I'm not like you guys where it's like, man, my coach didn't let us get anything

spk_0 to drink. And we had to go out and damn it. Practice six times a day in a thousand degree heat.

spk_0 The Oklahoma drill. That was nothing. We had to tackle our house. Well, I'll never understand

spk_0 current coaches. I will never get current coaches feeling the need in the NFL, in college,

spk_0 even in high school to publicly apologize for ripping a player. I'll never understand it,

spk_0 particularly when that player is a moron and does a moronic thing. See here in Indy, we had a guy

spk_0 AD Mitchell that did a couple of moronic things and our coach didn't rip just kind of went along and

spk_0 bence them. Well, ladies and gentlemen, the Arizona Cardinals are effing dumps or fire. I watched. I did.

spk_0 I watched the Cardinals Titans game. And I couldn't believe it. It was 21 to three.

spk_0 21 to three Titans were going to go to another defeat and Dylan and Davie and everybody involved Clay

spk_0 was going to say, Ganon, the coach are not Ganon, Calloway, Calloway, Calla Hand. Damn it. The

spk_0 coach was going to need to be fired and blah, blah, blah, blah. Blah well next thing you know,

spk_0 they gave it away. It was not football. It was a car crash that you couldn't stop watching. You

spk_0 went, oh, it's like a movie that kept showing you different things that made you go, what?

spk_0 But I got to tell you of all the storylines coming out of the game. Cardinals head coach Jonathan

spk_0 can't Ganon addressing Amari, Demarqado following him dropping the effing football at the goal line

spk_0 before reaching the end zone is becoming national talking point. The coach ripped ass. The coach

spk_0 went over kind of touched his arm. You'll never put your hands on. Oh, shut up. The coach should have

spk_0 gone over and ripped his ass. The coach has to go over and rip his ass. Why? Because players are watching.

spk_0 You can be the softest coach in the world and sometimes it doesn't have to be swearing.

spk_0 Lut Olsen famously never swore. But his players will tell you, damn, look, got them straight. Now

spk_0 Bob Knight swore, yelled screamed, I yelled screamed, cussed, whatever I had to do to get a player

spk_0 better. But honest to God, this dude fine. You went over and ripped. Maybe he feels bad about it.

spk_0 But now we're publicly apologizing. We're publicly apologizing to a player who was so stupid

spk_0 that and so arrogant or maybe just ignorant of the rules. I don't know. But I think everybody

spk_0 understands you cross the goal line. By the way, there's a big line right there. I think it's a

spk_0 white line that you know, if you cross and also by the way, it just happened a week and go here

spk_0 in Indy with a demitial, costing the Colts seven points. No, the coach has to. He must rip ass.

spk_0 He must get into as they say in the ass of that player. First, because everybody on that sideline

spk_0 is dying to win, going through practice as they say in the NFL, nobody's healthy once they get

spk_0 out of the car going in the training camp. And now here you are, a team that's really got a

spk_0 chance to get a win, which they shouldn't get. And a guy acts like a damn fool. That's not a hold.

spk_0 That's not a clip or whatever the hell they call it. Now, no, that's just utter stupidity.

spk_0 It's utter stupidity. So this guy, Ganon, who's the head coach of this operation, lost his mind

spk_0 a little bit, not Bob Knight, like not Gene Katie, like not Dan Dock, it's like, lost his mind

spk_0 a little bit. No biggie. We move it forward. But the freaking coach had this to say and I

spk_0 cannot believe this here. Listen. Yeah, actually, I woke up this morning and didn't feel great about

spk_0 it, honestly. And so in the team meeting, I addressed it. I apologize to the Marri, I apologize to the

spk_0 team. And I just told them I kind of let the moment of what happened, get the better of me there.

spk_0 Obviously, like I tried to be emotionally stable and calm because my job is to solve problems

spk_0 when during a game and kind of lead the charge on that. So it's not really who I am, who I want to be.

spk_0 And I told the guys that today. So it's a mistake by me and it's just like everybody in there.

spk_0 Everybody made a some type of mistake yesterday, which is, you know, calm and it's to why we didn't

spk_0 win the game. And we can't let it happen. Moving forward. I hope the coach bus their ass this week.

spk_0 I hope the coach absolutely bus their ass. I could see this guy's kind of a real guy.

spk_0 All right. Yeah, he's kind of a real guy. I get it. But you cannot think that those players

spk_0 sat in there and said, Oh, man, I'm really down with coach because he apologized. Every one of

spk_0 those players sat in there going, well, all right. Because remember, I don't give a damn whether

spk_0 you believe this or not, kindness to players is weakness. It's weakness. You know, there are some

spk_0 coaches that want to hell of a lot more than him or even I that would go in there and go,

spk_0 hey, let me tell you all one effing thing. Don't ever do that again. I'll get into what Dave Portinoi

spk_0 prescribes. But I'll get into that in a second. But you go in there and you're like, Hey,

spk_0 we're not making these dumb ass mistakes. Are players that soft player? I mean, maybe I have too much

spk_0 respect for all people. I do. I think I do. I think I have too much respect for all people. Like,

spk_0 I have too much respect for players to treat him that damn soft. My God. You're going to apologize

spk_0 because everybody in the world saw this stupidity. And if you use the, well, worn out

spk_0 adage of will make mistakes. You didn't make a mistake coach. You saw a problem. You address the

spk_0 problem and that problem will never happen again by that kid for a variety of reasons, one of which

spk_0 might be you being tough on his ass and teammates being tough on his ass and deciding this is what

spk_0 the hell we're going to do. This is how we're going to do it. And you're not going to eff it up

spk_0 anymore. But no, no, no, no, no, no, no. Maybe that's why the kid did it in the first place.

spk_0 Maybe that laissez faire approach to flipping a ball is the laissez faire approach in that what

spk_0 they call it the building. Maybe that's what's in the cardinals building. No, no, no, a public apology,

spk_0 a private apology. I got two words for you. My ass. That's never going to happen again. Or you do

spk_0 it like stiking did it. We're going to handle this. There's going to be accountability. So what was

spk_0 the accountability for a D Mitchell? The Colts player played six snaps against the Raiders and those

spk_0 six snaps came when the game was over mop up time and his replacement, Ashton Doolond had a hell of a

spk_0 game. That's how you're supposed to go about the business of accountability in a men's sport. I

spk_0 don't know what to do in women's, but I know in a man's sport and there is no bigger, better,

spk_0 better men's sport than an F L football. My God. We're going to apologize for a player being an idiot.

spk_0 Oh, man. All right. There's a lot of talk. This is the worst loss of the season. Well, the way it went

spk_0 downhill yet is the Cardinals losing to the Titans, a bad horrific Titans team. And you're up 21 to

spk_0 three and you're getting ready to go in and score a touchdown, making 28 to three and you blow the

spk_0 freaking game and your coach is apologizing to a player that screws it up. Uh-uh. Greg Olson, Fox

spk_0 NFL analyst, analyst absolutely believes it is to a game that should have been the Benny Hill song.

spk_0 If you remember the playing in the background, uh, the Cardinals didn't just lose the game. Watch

spk_0 this. Watch this. Whoever wrote this, Dave, your neck. Kudos to you. I think it's Davey. I see a

spk_0 smile over there. They titanically collapsed. Yeah, they tightened down. They didn't tighten up.

spk_0 They end up losing the game. We asked Coach Gurton this last week. You weren't here because it happened

spk_0 last week, but now I'm going to ask you if you're a teammate and you, if you're on a team and you

spk_0 watch a teammate do this and you lose the game, how do you act? What do you do? This is crazy.

spk_0 That keeps happening. Professional football players not crossing the goal line with the ball in

spk_0 their hands. Yeah. That's one, you know, like the bad beats. That's about as bad of a beat. You're at

spk_0 quarter of an inch from being up 28, six in the fourth quarter against arguably the worst team in

spk_0 the league, at least in the conversation through the first four games with the Titans and the games

spk_0 all but over. So then you go from not getting up 28, six because guys can't run through the goal

spk_0 line. And then of course the fumble to fumble to the interception to fumble to kick into the end

spk_0 zone is just a ridiculous play. If you're Arizona this morning, there's a lot of disappointing losses

spk_0 in the league. I've been a part of a lot of them. You're sick. You get over it. The kudashoo

spk_0 da wooda. That might be the worst as far as just like a meaningless regular season game. Just the

spk_0 manner in which they lost the fourth quarter lead. You can't make that up. Like if that happens

spk_0 in the mat and you're like breaking your controller, right? You're like throwing it against the wall.

spk_0 So I don't know why guys have the need to drop the ball. If I was a head coach, I'd be like,

spk_0 if you don't run with the ball to the sideline and keep it tucked until you get, I'm just going to

spk_0 cut you. Can you just not going to play for me? Can you put in the contract when they come in? I

spk_0 know that's a deadass real question because it's all of it. If you drop the ball in one of those

spk_0 situations, you agree it's a million dollar fine, a million dollar cash. Nobody would do it. I

spk_0 guarantee you if people signed a contract in their thing, it's a million dollar fine. If you

spk_0 with no contact intentionally drop the football, you pay a million dollars. Zero people would do it.

spk_0 Zero. It's just not paying attention.

spk_0 Porton was right. 100% right. I mean, it's not even close. I mean, look, I wouldn't cut him.

spk_0 I want to know more. Unless he's a pain in the ass as I said about a Donnie Mitchell, if he's

spk_0 paying the ass in the room and all that stuff, then possibly. But I'm not cutting him. Again,

spk_0 unless he's a pain in the ass, but I am doing what Stuykin did. I thought what coach Stuykin did

spk_0 was fantastic. Shane Stuykin went out and sat his ass at Donnie Mitchell. And here's why. I can't

spk_0 trust you. Like Mitchell also added to it, a ridiculous hold on a touchdown run. Literally

spk_0 costing his team 14 points. But when I play you, that means I trust you. If I cannot trust you to

spk_0 run across the ends of it, if I cannot trust you to not come back with a hold, if I cannot trust

spk_0 you to help us win the game, I am not playing you. If I can't trust you to be in the locker room,

spk_0 with the guys and act like a human being and you cause problems and you dropped the ball,

spk_0 then I'll cut you. You know, it's that old thing. Your talent's got to outweigh your problems.

spk_0 And frankly, I don't know whether this kid, I never heard of this kid. So I'm not really with

spk_0 Greg Olson. I'm more with Dave Portino on this. Portino is not wrong. You put a million dollars

spk_0 and put a half million. But you put that in a contract that says you do that. Now, of course,

spk_0 can you imagine throwing that in front of an agent? Yeah, we ain't doing it. Yeah, then he

spk_0 have. I mean, an agent would fight that. What else you want to put in there? You know, I mean,

spk_0 things like that. See, to an agent, this would open Pandora's box. What are you going to do if he

spk_0 gets a holding penalty, finding 50 bucks? You know, what? What? So it's never going to happen.

spk_0 But the truth of the matter is Dave Portino could not be more right. You put a million dollars in

spk_0 there in a fine, half million dollars in there, even an A ain't doing that. Here's the other

spk_0 thing that really pisses me off. I said this about Mitchell. The NFL will let you do anything you

spk_0 want. Once you get in the in zone, once you decide that you have scored and you are through the

spk_0 in zone, you can take the ball, put it in your pants and crap it out. I mean, you can do that.

spk_0 Literally, you can do anything you want. I saw guys have a great celebration last year.

spk_0 bit of a firestorm, per source's Disney, ESPN has removed Feinbaum from appearing on ESPN since his

spk_0 Outkick interview, expressing interest in running as a Republican for Senate in Alabama Outkick,

spk_0 or excuse me, ESPN has canceled on network appearances on all shows, including some that have

spk_0 That's what I think. SEC Network host Paul Feinbaum hasn't appeared on ESPN since he sat

spk_0 down last week for a wide-ranging interview with Outkix Clay Travis that touched on a possible

spk_0 Senate run in here. The killing of a potential interview with president Trump Feinbaum, who appears

spk_0 on a wide array of ESPN programming on a weekly basis throughout the college football season,

spk_0 has not made several of his regularly scheduled appearances since the interview dropped last week.

spk_0 Feinbaum has continued to host his radio and TV show, the Paul Feinbaum show, with heirs on the SEC

spk_0 Network and ESPN radio. Additionally, Feinbaum took his usual spot on SEC Nation Saturday morning.

spk_0 However, he was notably absent from Sunday morning's edition of Sports Center guest spot,

spk_0 which Feinbaum has made regular since listening to this joining ESPN in 2014. There you go.

spk_0 Vice President in the PR department, Bill Hoffmeier posted on social media that Travis's report was

spk_0 totally false. This is not true at all. The below is totally false. Well, Clay's not going to sit for

spk_0 this. LOL Decisions may above your pay grade bill. Why wasn't Feinbaum on Sunday AM Sports Center

spk_0 yesterday or first take this morning? For the first time in over a decade reacting to one of its

spk_0 biggest college football weekends of the year, I stand by my sources. I don't know who Clay

spk_0 sources are, but I guarantee you, they're probably better than old bills there. But again,

spk_0 bills doing what a press secretary or a commissioner is supposed to do. I talked about this with

spk_0 Kathy Engelberg. Supposed to take the ball. It's supposed to take the hits. It's what you're supposed to do.

spk_0 Now, while it is unclear, if there was a directive from the network executive, either an ESPN or

spk_0 the parent company Disney to exclude Feinbaum from ESPN programming because of his interview with

spk_0 Claire because of what he said to the outkick founder, Feinbaum expressed a desire to run for the

spk_0 United States Senate as a Republican in Alabama, much like Stephen A Smith has flurred it with the

spk_0 idea of a presidential run as a Democrat. ESPN has been, well, they've been trying to cover their

spk_0 tracks ever since outkick reported on this story. Here you go. One source with knowledge of the

spk_0 situation told media T he will return to ESPN on Tuesday for an appearance that was scheduled

spk_0 prior to the controversy over his alleged benshing. Additionally, the source said the network is

spk_0 working to give other. This is such bullshit right here. This is bullshit to give other analyst

spk_0 airtime in case Feinbaum does run for office. Amen. Fool me once shame on me. You fool me twice shame

spk_0 on me. This ain't happening. And pull this. It does play jingle bells. And he no longer has the same

spk_0 availability. So what they're saying is in case Feinbaum does run, we want to make sure we have

spk_0 somebody set to fill in. I haven't seen them do that with Stephen A Smith. Come on. Don't look

spk_0 again. I say this all the time. Don't look at us and lie. It's what happens in politics every day.

spk_0 it doesn't pass the smell test. The source that ESPN with knowledge told outkick Monday afternoon

spk_0 Feinbaum is scheduled to appear on Tuesday's first take as well as on sports center. The source added

spk_0 that the hits were scheduled a while ago and not as a response to Monday's events. However,

spk_0 a source with knowledge of Feinbaum schedule said earlier that the 70 year old SEC network

spk_0 coast is not booked for Tuesday's show. In the latest development of the story Clay reported

spk_0 that ESPN finally invited Feinbaum to appear on first take on Tuesday. But not until hours after

spk_0 the initial report was published sources after being caught and alive about canceling Feinbaum hits

spk_0 for the week. ESPN now requested Feinbaum to appear and get up sports center first take. Next step

spk_0 is renaming the network in his honor. This all hysterical to watch a network run by morons.

spk_0 you got to touchdown knocked away at the goal line. That kind of thing or didn't make it. I

spk_0 don't know. I know that coach got off to a bad start with kind of a wonky press conference.

spk_0 So, you know, it's been a remarkable week of finishes in the NFL in my estimation,

spk_0 because you had just some wild crazy finishes. Arizona losing the way that they lost.

spk_0 Philadelphia losing the way that they lost. And Denver, you know, it's just some interesting things.

spk_0 By the way, it should no longer happen that if you are running into the end zone,

spk_0 you drop the football on your way in. I don't know how many times people need to see that juvenile

spk_0 foolish, idiotic, stupid, moronic mistake to stop doing it, Dan. What the hell?

spk_0 Michelle, I've said this. The NFL lets you do everything from moaning. Hello, Randy Moss to

spk_0 taking a dump with a football just get in the end zone and do whatever the hell you want.

spk_0 We had in twice last year Jonathan Taylor this year at Donnie miss, but here's a bigger issue.

spk_0 I look, I'm a dad. You're a mom. But I put all that aside. That coach Ganon ripped. I think

spk_0 rightfully so the running back that did that. And then today or last night or yesterday, he's

spk_0 apologizing. I can't have that. I learned this kindness is weakness to players. It just you got to

spk_0 that hat that is egregious enough. I ain't apologized for nothing. You apologized to the team,

spk_0 son. Not me to you. I couldn't agree more. I can't understand why that apology was necessary.

spk_0 I kind of missed the days when stuff just happened inside the locker room doors. Now you want to

spk_0 publicly criticize a player. I mean, that you're entitled to do that as a coach and that that

spk_0 player deserved it. Right? So yeah, this apology stuff. I'm just I'm just not quite sure. That

spk_0 could be what we like to call suicidal empathy. If you, you know, you want bad performances continue

spk_0 to be empathetic. I don't know. Man, I've grown up a lot. I guess. But I had no empathy for myself.

spk_0 I had no empathy for players doing. I mean, I get it a hold. I'll give credit to the cold stone.

spk_0 You know, that kid that did that Adani Mitchell. He not only cost him by doing whatever he did with

spk_0 the ball, but he also had a hold on a touchdown. Shane Stuykin didn't play him until the game was over.

spk_0 You know, he said we're going to be accountable here. And he didn't rip him publicly. He did not rip

spk_0 him public. He just didn't play him. And Michelle, you know, this asks to see that's the that's it.

spk_0 I get put him on the bench. I totally. I mean, like, here's the thing. If someone is a great player

spk_0 and you need him, then you lose the power battle there. You know, the player then has the power.

spk_0 You're not willing to say, you know what, we're going to put your backup in for a couple of drives.

spk_0 You turn that power over to the player and nothing more than that player's talent and ability

spk_0 to help you win. And I realized it's the business of winning. But in the long term, the business of

spk_0 winning also has to be part of has to incorporate the business of discipline and the business of

spk_0 accountability on your players. So I'm all for that. Yeah. Hey, I don't know if you saw this.

spk_0 Maybe you did, but I've always wondered this two things. You know, when used to get I'm ever

spk_0 getting ran over as a coach sitting there on the bench, got going for a loose ball. And man,

spk_0 I got hit one time in the head pretty good. And you know, you're on the sideline. You're at

spk_0 Kansas State and you get smacked. You ever got smacked? You ever got really, you know, drill Tory

spk_0 Petry. She got nailed in that game. She was okay. Thank goodness. Yeah. But you ever take a hit

spk_0 like that? Not quite like that. I was on the sideline once. I'm trying to remember where it was

spk_0 when during warmups, someone caught a ball and ran right into me. I had my back to the field,

spk_0 which was wrong, but we were doing a rehearsal. So I had to, you know, so no, I had a producer once,

spk_0 my sideline producer got run over by the cart cam, you know, that big cart on the, the cart that

spk_0 drives the big camera around. He had his foot run over. And that's you got to, man, you got to

spk_0 just know exactly what's going on down there. And it's not easy. And I'm glad that no one got

spk_0 terribly hurt in that incident. You got to have your head on a swivel. We're doing that man.

spk_0 You do. We're going to have Bruce Perline coming up at 10 o'clock. And your thoughts on this

spk_0 horrific anniversary, October 7th on the attacks by Hamas in on Jewish folk. I watched film the other

spk_0 day of that the Hamas people, monsters shot while they were doing this. I was watching a film by

spk_0 Denash D'Souza and the opening scenes are all from that day. And it's the first time I watched it,

spk_0 and I was really scared and I was kind of watching like this, you know, with my hands over my eyes.

spk_0 It was horrifying. On so many levels, it was horrifying. And I'm equally horrified by

spk_0 this this movement against Israel that they shouldn't have the right to defend themselves. And I'm

spk_0 also disappointed in coverage. Someone pointed out to me recently, you know, on 9-11, we know how

spk_0 many Americans died. We didn't keep a tally of the war fatalities after that that when we responded

spk_0 from 9-11, no one was keeping a count of a death count like they are in Gaza. So, you know,

spk_0 and where's that death count in Gaza coming from? Has it been validated? But this seems to be with

spk_0 the news decides to focus on that there's this quote unquote genocide. And so there's a lot that

spk_0 is really disappointing today. It's a horrible date to remember. And I sadly, I was at my mom's death

spk_0 bed when it happened. I was with her in her final hours while this was going on. So I remember it

spk_0 vividly. And then there was, you know, the ensuing disagreement about why this happened. There's

spk_0 real represents the West. And I think the West in general is under attack right now. And we got

spk_0 a heart in our spines. I hope that the last thing I should mention is I've just I hope and pray

spk_0 that these hostages in fact get released.

spk_0 Man, I'm not I'm not smart enough to understand why anybody would support that. Hamas. I'm not. I

spk_0 know I was talking to Nick. He works in the Fox building. Nick's our producer, one of our producers

spk_0 and he works in the Fox building. He said, yeah, those are going to be all kind of Hamas,

spk_0 Palestine, pro Palestine people. I just I just don't get how any human being could ever watch that

spk_0 and support that operation. I honestly to say whatever you want, good, bad, whatever the politics,

spk_0 I just don't understand how anybody could watch what you're talking about. What we're talking about

spk_0 Bruce Pearls, you want me to talk about and support that. I don't I don't and I never ever will.

spk_0 I don't I don't either. And I think in similar it's not the same. But but I think that the

spk_0 the strain of evil that you're talking about is the same when people celebrated Charlie Kirk

spk_0 being killed celebrated in such heinous fashion. That to me, it's like we are in a really

spk_0 dark place. And some people think we're in a dark place for one reason. But really to me,

spk_0 it's very clear. It's good versus evil. It's, you know, West versus the haters. It's civilization

spk_0 versus just this almost anarchy. So I know what kind of world I want to live in. And it's the

spk_0 civilized one. Now, no, it really is. You know, I'm old enough to remember and I remember this.

spk_0 I can remember actually where I was a few times on the radio. You mentioned death counts and

spk_0 that kind of thing. I'm a member of Vietnam. It would be every night. When I was a little kid,

spk_0 every night you would hear the death toll. And I remember as a little kid going, Dad, is that

spk_0 mean that many people passed away? Dad? Yes. You know, war, you know, war is hell, whatever you

spk_0 say. But I, to your point about that, I remember that vividly as a really young kid. I wasn't that old,

spk_0 seven, eight years old. That kind of thing. And that was probably the death count of American troops,

spk_0 right? I think it was. I, you know what? No, I think it was both. I would have to go look at this.

spk_0 But I, I, I, yeah, I think it was. I think it would be less, you know, like a scoreboard almost.

spk_0 I wonder if people that are listening could fill me in on that or I can look it up later. But

spk_0 you know, this I can, I know exactly where I was the first time I heard it. And you were

spk_0 sure like a kindergarten. Yeah. I mean, really that, that, that you have that memory from that age

spk_0 speaks to how much that impacted you as a kid. It's, yeah, it is a cruel man.

spk_0 interesting to me. And I was talking to someone about this recently about how many people in sports,

spk_0 talking more about politics. And I would really be interested to speak with Paul. I did not work with

spk_0 him. Our path is rarely crossed, but I admire him for his principles. And it's, it's just, it's a really

spk_0 interesting trend. And I'm not quite sure what it's all about. Maybe it's because we all like to

spk_0 communicate and we all like to, it's, you know, give our opinions and we feel very strongly about

spk_0 them. And that's, you find that a lot in sportscasters and you find it a lot in now the world that

spk_0 we're all kind of dabbing our, dabbing our feet into, dipping our feet into. And yeah, I think

spk_0 it's really, really interesting. I'd like to see what his platform would look like.

spk_0 Yeah, I'd be fascinating, right? I mean, I don't know. People assume name recognition means

spk_0 you're winning. I don't, you know, I don't know. As well as a wall is going to be reelected.

spk_0 I pray no, we've got a number of candidates here in Minnesota. I mean, to, to look at the fraud

spk_0 in Minnesota, to look at the people leaving the state, the education system, I could go on and

spk_0 on, Dan, it is, it is bad here. And it's so heartbreaking because when I moved here, it was such a beautiful

spk_0 place where education was, you know, like on a, you just, it was valued so highly. And now it's,

spk_0 it's so much activism. And then the fraud, the amount of fraud, there are a lot of problems in

spk_0 Minnesota. I cannot see how this man can get reelected. How does he get reelected? If we don't,

spk_0 if the other side doesn't present a good candidate. But I think, I think, I think we have one.

spk_0 And so I wanted to. And it's just going to take an awful lot of work, an awful lot of work to,

spk_0 to get that message out and really present the alternative. And, and, you know,

spk_0 this thing about Minnesota nice, Tim Walls ain't Minnesota nice. And, um, they're, you know,

spk_0 the, our attorney general is Keith Ellison isn't Minnesota nice. Our city council is a

spk_0 trotious and Minneapolis. It is about as socialist, you know, I'm doing tomorrow's podcast on

spk_0 the Democrat Socialists of America. I'm taking a deep dive into what this organization really

spk_0 stands for because a lot of people are presenting as Democrats, but they're actually Democrat

spk_0 Socialists. And they get into office and their platform completely changes. So it's something to

spk_0 be mindful of. I want to end on a positive note. Yay. Uh, the culture, the culture of the

spk_0 greatest team in football. Indiana University is the greatest team in college football. Fernando

spk_0 Mendoza is going to win the Heisman and Daniel Jones is going to win MVP. You surprised,

spk_0 I'm not talking about Indiana football, but you surprised by Daniel Jones, what he's been able to do.

spk_0 Yeah. And I think we talked about this earlier that just you never know when it's going to be

spk_0 the right fit and the right time for someone at that particular position. Some of these, you know,

spk_0 sometimes you can see a defender can play great no matter where you put them on the field or no

spk_0 matter where you which team you put them on. But the quarterback position is unique. I think we

spk_0 can all agree. And that's why they get the big bucks. And it takes so much mental fortitude

spk_0 to not only absorb a system, learn the system, but executing that system and know every position

spk_0 on the field like the back of your hand. And sometimes the timing just clicks. So I'm happy for

spk_0 him. I, and I'm happy for you and I'm happy for Colts fans. That's like a little pat on the head.

spk_0 an anniversary here? Well, Dan, once again, it's it's it's a time in the month that I look forward to

spk_0 and that's hanging out with you a little bit and talking about the things that we're not supposed to

spk_0 talk about like politics and faith and family. You know, stuff that we're not a lot of talk about

spk_0 anymore. Do I look less stressed? That's my question. Do I look a little bit? Yes. You know,

spk_0 yes. The world in responsibility. Don't I look good? Yes. Coach, I always say to people that retire

spk_0 congratulations. You'll you'll know it's the best. No, no, that crap. It's the best, baby. Yeah.

spk_0 I'm a you know what? Some people let it get to them before they they step away from it a little

spk_0 bit. And I listen, you know, I'm not retired. I'm just not going to coach. I'm going to continue to

spk_0 work, you know, other things that I'm also passionate about. And and that's about our country. That's

spk_0 about faith, family, conservative values. My advocacy for for Israel and having a strong United States

spk_0 Israel, you know, relationship. The importance of education and not being afraid to teach our

spk_0 children to love their country to love the Lord to love their neighbor to be able to get along

spk_0 and tolerate each other's differences, which is what we do is basketball coaches,

spk_0 putting teams together. And so that's what I'm looking forward to. But today's a tough day. I mean,

spk_0 today is the two-year anniversary of one of the world's largest biggest Holocaust. And that was

spk_0 50 Americans killed two years ago on that day by Hamas and Palestinian terrorists that were

spk_0 basically protesting over the fact that they don't have their own state. Well, there are 22 Arab

spk_0 states right there in the Middle East. Most of these Palestinians and Gazans are either Jordanian

spk_0 or Egyptian or whatever. But because they're not allowed to have their own state in the state of

spk_0 Israel, they're going to go ahead and commit these atrocities. And they've been doing it since

spk_0 1948. This was the worst and nothing can compare us. And so what I'm hoping for right now is this.

spk_0 They're in Egypt right now and they're talking about releasing the maybe 18 alive hostages. God

spk_0 bless what what condition they're going to be in and what the pictures are going to be when they

spk_0 come out. I guarantee what they've been doing for the last few weeks is trying to give them some

spk_0 food medicines so they don't look half dead. And then about 20 bodies of some that have fallen

spk_0 along a long long time ago. And exchange for like 1200 prisoners and you know all these stuff

spk_0 and things. Here's what can't happen, Dan. We need to continue to support President Trump.

spk_0 He has done an amazing job instead of pressures from all over the world to cave and give these

spk_0 terrorists a reward of another state. This whole land for peace stuff that we tried in Gaza.

spk_0 It didn't work. It failed. They spent all these years building a terrorist state and just waiting

spk_0 and waiting and waiting to a moment when they could do what they did on October 7th. We cannot let

spk_0 that happen again. The hostages have got to come home. Hamas has got to be demilitarized and can no

spk_0 longer be involved in any future government. And once we go from there and that's going to be a

spk_0 baseline and that's not negotiable. I don't care what they're talking about in Egypt. Once we go

spk_0 from there, then there's a real possibility for President Trump to build on the Abraham Accords

spk_0 and have there be a prosperous peaceful Middle East. In your mind, coach, how close are we

spk_0 to releasing hostages? How close are we to getting any kind of resolution?

spk_0 I think the only way we're going to get we're going to actually get close to doing this

spk_0 because Hamas is demonstrated. They don't really want peace. They want death and destruction.

spk_0 They don't care about their own people that they hide underneath tunnels and let these people live

spk_0 above them and build military launching pads for rockets and mosques and hospitals and schools.

spk_0 They don't care about death. The only way I think this works is pressure from the United States.

spk_0 The military pressure by Israel has got to completely surrounded with the threat of

spk_0 a complete annihilation. But I think the third thing, Dan, is the rest of the Arab world.

spk_0 They've got to be able to take these guys and say, look, we're going to give you a asylum in our

spk_0 country and you're going to live. Whether it's to fight another day or not, I don't know.

spk_0 But they've never demonstrated that this is the last thing that they've got to hold on to, to be

spk_0 able to continue to survive. And I hope what doesn't happen is I hope that President Trump

spk_0 doesn't cave and it's not caved yet under tremendous pressure and give into their demand that,

spk_0 okay, we're going to give you back the hostage but we're not going to demote our eyes.

spk_0 Or we want to be a part of some future government or we want your assurances that will be

spk_0 another Palestinian state. Where exactly is the state supposed to be?

spk_0 I mean, you take a look at this country. You guys are in Indiana. Right up there in Dearborn,

spk_0 there's an extremely large Palestinian population. Do they want their own country?

spk_0 No, they're living in Dearborn, Michigan. They've got local autonomy. They've got local governments.

spk_0 They probably even got a little sharia law going on. But they're at least part of the state of

spk_0 Michigan and at least part of the United States of America. That's what Gaza could have been.

spk_0 That's what Judea and Samaria needs to be. That's its only chance for peace and prosperity. So

spk_0 I just, that's what I hope that people don't understand. Israel's not holding the hostages.

spk_0 Hamas is holding the hostages and the pressure must be put on the Qatar. The last thing I would say

spk_0 is this, if the hostages are released, well, President Trump should say to the leaders of Qataris,

spk_0 you're kicking whoever is involved in Hamas living in your country, you're kicking them out now.

spk_0 In other words, you either take this, you either release the hostages or you leave Qatar.

spk_0 Leave your hotels, leave your businesses, leave whatever you've got going on here and go

spk_0 on back to Gaza City and pick up a gun and go ahead and fight like the rest of these animals or

spk_0 fight it. That would put pressure on Hamas to release these hostages. These leaders that are

spk_0 living in Great Britain and living in all these different places, they need to be deported

spk_0 back to the land they want to fight for. All right. And then they're going to put pressure on

spk_0 Hamas to release these hostages. To people that watched, and I said a year ago, two years ago,

spk_0 I can't believe it's been two years ago, but to people that watched, how does anybody,

spk_0 I was trying to look at both sides, but I can't look at both sides on this, but I have producers

spk_0 that are in the Fox building and, you know, oftentimes square and there's going to be pro-Palestine,

spk_0 pro-Hamas rallies. I don't, Bruce, I swear to God and I'm dumb. You're smart. I'm dumb. I don't

spk_0 understand how anybody that had any kind of information or any kind of sensibility could possibly

spk_0 support that. I don't, can you understand? You know, a lot of time we try to understand where

spk_0 the other side's coming and coaching, I want to know, you know, what's the other side going to do?

spk_0 What's the other side? I can't come to grips with another side in our country that would support that.

spk_0 You know, you've separated the great coaches and the great leaders from the good ones. In a sense that,

spk_0 you know, if I know what you're trying to do defensively, what you want to do defensively,

spk_0 it helps me create better office and concepts within the framework of our system and what we do.

spk_0 And so, yeah, I do understand where they're coming from and it's fairly, fairly simple.

spk_0 It's all about basically a lot. Back in 1948, Dan, there were about 160,000 Arabs living in this

spk_0 land, about 160,000. Okay? Today, there are 2 million Arab civilians that are Israeli citizens

spk_0 living their best lives, grown from 160,000. In addition, there are about 1.8 million Palestinians

spk_0 living in what we call Judea, Samaria, summer furtune, it's the West Bank, mostly in Ebron,

spk_0 Ramallah, Janine, those places like that. And about 2 million living in Gaza. Okay? The

spk_0 4 million that are living outside of Israel, okay, plus at 6 million, there's been no genocide.

spk_0 This population has grown and grown faster than the Jewish population. And so there's been no

spk_0 genocide. The problem is the 2 million, the ones that stayed and became Israeli citizens

spk_0 are living their best lives. They're in government, they're in medical care, they've got all the

spk_0 rights of Israeli citizens. It's the ones that decided of the 160,000. You know what? We're going to

spk_0 leave. We're going to let the Arab nations come in and destroy Israel in 1948. And then we're

spk_0 going to have a right to return. We're going to have a right to come back. Well, guess what? You cannot

spk_0 come back and decide that you want to take over Israel. The anti-photos, over and over again,

spk_0 all the death, all the killing. It's something that Israel has tolerated for 80 years

spk_0 and quite frankly, they're over it. And because nobody is teaching that then, they've said,

spk_0 oh, we want a free Palestine. Well, I, freeing Palestine is a good idea. I could support free

spk_0 Palestine. What does that mean? It means freeing Palestine of all the Jews, either kill us or get

spk_0 rid of us. So that's what media media has put the Hamas and terrorists on an equal footing

spk_0 with Israel. And God forbid any country ever invaded, you know, let's just say Mexico invaded

spk_0 Texas and killed what would equate to about 30,000 Americans and did it all the atrocities they did.

spk_0 Mexico would be history. It's taken Israel this long to, to prosecute this war because they pained

spk_0 stakingly tried to go after Hamas, putting their soldiers at unbelievable risk. Israel could make that

spk_0 place a parking lot, not just a parking lot by taking buildings out. I mean, killing everybody.

spk_0 And they have not done it. And you know what? I get it. The world's tired of the war. They're tired

spk_0 of hearing from me. They're tired of hearing from anybody else. We are this close. We are this close.

spk_0 And I tell you what it does. If we finish this the right way, we tell all the other terrorists

spk_0 that want to act this way, you're going to lose again and again and again. You might as well just,

spk_0 you know, just give up that fight and recognize that you've lost and let's move, let's move on.

spk_0 Germany moved on. Japan moved on. And the reason why they moved on, they were defeated. You

spk_0 must win this, this is no game, but you've got to win it. Because if you don't win it,

spk_0 this is going to, all it's going to do is it come back five years from now. It's going to be the

spk_0 same old thing as October 7th. President Trump only was, he's got another year, maybe, excuse me,

spk_0 another three and a half years. Can he get this done in that time? He can. And only, only he could do it.

spk_0 I'll tell you what, Dad, I'm, I asked you out. It's unbelievable what he's done and the pressure

spk_0 that he's been under. And even from the obviously from the Democrats and even from parts of his

spk_0 own party, the key is to not, the, the, the art of the deal is to have it be, have it be a good deal.

spk_0 And this is it, this, this, this roadbath, this 20 point plan is a good deal. If Hamas would

spk_0 demilitarize and leave. And then some other element of Arab world, not the Palestinian authority.

spk_0 That's the one thing that, that some people are talking about this, that the Palestinian

spk_0 authority who is based out of Ramallah could come in and, and, and do this. And this is a corrupt

spk_0 organization that was as bad as Hamas. Listen to me, the Palestinian authority, as it exists right

spk_0 now, is as bad and is incapable of living next door to Israel as a neighbor as Hamas. That's not

spk_0 the answer. What's the answer? Modern Arab countries, the United Arab Emirates, maybe if the

spk_0 Saudis would get involved. And I'm telling you, then I really truly believe this, these

spk_0 modern Arab nations want peace, peace through strength. Hey, man, you know, we're playing a pick-up ball.

spk_0 You know, who do you want in your team when it's just you and four other guys? You need a guy to

spk_0 can rebound. You need a guy to can play defense of block shots. You need a tough guy.

spk_0 We'll tell you about who's the, who's the baddest boy in the neighborhood in the Middle East?

spk_0 And they never ran anymore. It's not. It's Israel. These Arab countries that are moderates, Israel

spk_0 is an economic giant. It's a giant in technology, in medicine, in agriculture, and they're willing

spk_0 to share with a peaceful neighbor. And they're also strong militarily. And so I'm telling you

spk_0 right now, peace through strength, we're close. It's just that I just hope that our team of

spk_0 Whitcoff and Kushner and President Trump don't give away the fort and trying to rescue

spk_0 a few hostages that are still alive. They've got to get the hostages back, but they've got to

spk_0 set up for a more permanent peace. You're the U.S. Israeli Education Association chairman.

spk_0 Will that lead you to go to DC and in DC meeting with people, explaining this, pleading for this?

spk_0 Is that something that's on your schedule? Your agenda? I'm going tonight. I'm going tonight.

spk_0 There you go. That will be on our agenda. That will be part of what we're going to be doing.

spk_0 One of the other things too that we're going to be doing, Dennis, we talk about what's

spk_0 happening our higher education system. There are some great universities. You've got great universities

spk_0 in Indiana, man. I mean, Notre Dame and IU and we do. And so many great schools. I don't think

spk_0 those schools have gotten kind of wacko and see a ton of protests there. You see great Americans

spk_0 and great kids and great values. There's been a flood of students from all over the country,

spk_0 particularly the East, some in Texas, out in California. They found the SEC. They're going to

spk_0 all these incredibly successful Southern schools where it's really popular to go to church on Sunday

spk_0 and put out an American flag in your front yard. And I think there is a revival that's taking place

spk_0 in parts of our country and in reaction to some of the craziness that are taking place in our

spk_0 college campuses. And that's a good thing. That's a good thing. Let's talk about the timing. A lot of

spk_0 people of your resignation from Auburn. I said this. Coach Knight was going to do the same thing

spk_0 for me until he got sideways. Hey, stay here. I'll make you the head coach. I'm going to resign

spk_0 before the season blah, blah, blah, blah. Stephen taking over. Per usual, you catch a little criticism

spk_0 for that. What? Let's go first. What went into your decision to resign or retire? And not retire.

spk_0 That's both are stupid to step down at this point. I retire. Resign was wrong with you.

spk_0 Yeah. No, no. It's a really, really good question. Um, Stevens would mill me for 11 years here at Auburn.

spk_0 I mean, he has he has gone from my assistant strength coach to my director of basketball operations,

spk_0 to an assistant coach to the defensive coordinator to the associate head coach. He's worked his way up.

spk_0 But he's not the only one like Berger master. My offensive coordinator started as a manager graduate

spk_0 assistant and he's been here for nine years. I remember, he's been here for nine years. Max

spk_0 Jeffrey's been here for 10 years. Uh, most of my staff has been here forever. I just

spk_0 did this anywhere college basketball. If, if, you know, if Auburn does a national search and they

spk_0 decide to go get another coach, all these guys lose their jobs. And I just wasn't going to,

spk_0 I wasn't going to, I didn't want to put them in that position. I got a great athletic director,

spk_0 John Cohen, who understood that what we did was as much a part of what the staff did is what I did.

spk_0 And I think the last piece is this then I got up before it killed me. You guys, you know, we,

spk_0 coaches, we age in dog ears. Look at me. I mean, I'm, I'm white here. You know, I'm more awake.

spk_0 You know, I don't take care of myself as well as I possibly should. I've been absent sometimes

spk_0 a husband, you know, I got five grandkids. I barely got to see them so and so forth. So selfishly,

spk_0 I decided that before I, this killed me, I'm going to get out while I still kind of have my health.

spk_0 And, and there was a little part of me that be given the sea. A lot of coaches, like, look,

spk_0 when coaches lead, they either get fired or they go to another job. Nobody retires after they

spk_0 went to a final four. You know, Jay Wright was probably the last guy that I could think,

spk_0 I mean, he won a national championship on a couple that I could think of that left. I didn't want to buy

spk_0 out. I didn't want to, I didn't want to, I wanted to see this coaching staff be able to be rewarded

spk_0 for creating Auburn basketball, being one of the top 10 top 20 jobs in all college basketball.

spk_0 You know what it was like before. You know what it is now. And, you know, I do, though, feel like I've

spk_0 sort of, I felt like father Abraham putting his son Isaac on the altar. You know, I want to,

spk_0 God's going to provide another sacrifice. But I mean, I mean, I've said we've, he's set up with a good

spk_0 team. They got really good pieces. He's a brilliant coach. He's got a great staff. But he's got one,

spk_0 he's got the top of schedule, the top of schedule of college basketball. They got to go open and

spk_0 got play for doing any of that Houston comes to Birmingham. They're going to be playing Michigan and

spk_0 Oregon out in the, in the players area. They're going to Arizona. I mean, I don't know. I don't know

spk_0 whether I've sent him a, sent him up for success or failure, but you know what? He's got thick skin.

spk_0 He's tougher than I am. And I think he could also handle the, the pain of all this transfer stuff

spk_0 and all this movement, all this transaction. Dan, when I coached at Southern Indiana or Milwaukee or

spk_0 all the places I've coached, I hardly ever had kids transfer. And I hardly ever, if maybe even never,

spk_0 but hardly ever ran a kid off. If they came and they weren't as good as they should have been or

spk_0 thought out, it was my fault. I made the call to bring there. And I stayed with them. And all

spk_0 the time, late in the, in their career, we got rewarded for it. This, this whole thing with,

spk_0 with a whole new roster every year. Man, you know, coach Pat, die, the great Pat, die, say,

spk_0 coach them as hard as you love. Like you, I coach them hard. I do. I coach them hard, but it does.

spk_0 I can't love them in a year. I don't, I don't barely know. We need to go through some stuff. We need

spk_0 to go through some throw the victory and some agony to feed. We need to go through stuff. We need to

spk_0 show loyalty to each other. And then we begin to love each other. Oh, that's when we start with

spk_0 championships. And, and so when it's changed with a combination of NIL and the transfer portal,

spk_0 all the same time. And look, you know what, your kid, Bobby and I told you to do something,

spk_0 you did it. You told your kids to do something and your children, your players, they did it.

spk_0 Now when a coach tells a player to do something, I guess it's negotiable. If they don't like what they

spk_0 hear, they can just leave. No, no, no contract, no, uh, non-compete, nothing. These kids and these

spk_0 18-year-olds have gotten more freedom now than they've ever had in the, you know, in any other

spk_0 industry. And I worry this, when they get done, their eligibility's up and it can no longer play

spk_0 and they're going to get this, how are they going to handle authority? Because they've just,

spk_0 they've got, they've, they've empowered a student average too much and it's not for their own

spk_0 kid. We're not graduating kids anymore. You know, so those are all the reasons that came in as far

spk_0 as the timing was concerned. And you know, I knew exactly what you're doing yet. Guys,

spk_0 Wilbond taking shots at you, Wilbond shot in my opinion came when you came on our show and

spk_0 didn't speak lowingly about President Obama. I, you know, it disappointed me in people

spk_0 that you have a difference of opinion on somebody. And I think it was Obama. That's just my opinion.

spk_0 I haven't talked to Wilbond. And then he said, you were forced out or he hoped you were forced out.

spk_0 That's just not right. I mean, and you were a guest on his show and then other guys jumped in

spk_0 and I'm sitting there going, this is ridiculous, Bruce, because I knew exactly what you were doing.

spk_0 You were setting up your staff. You were setting up your team. And it was time for you to move to

spk_0 other things. I was disappointed. Wilbond and others I wasn't because I know what they are. But

spk_0 that's disappointing. How'd you handle all that? With a great totally with a great assault.

spk_0 You know, totally with a great assault. First of all, I will tell you that some folks that are

spk_0 close to Mike reached out to me and assured me and I believe that there's had nothing to do with

spk_0 anti-Semitism at all. It was, you know, it was, it was political. It was, I see things differently

spk_0 than he does. And, you know, it's okay to be critical of others. So therefore, I don't react to

spk_0 it too, too awful negatively. But if we're going to report about sports and then we're going to

spk_0 report in front of an ESPN audience that I might have been forced out, that's ridiculous.

spk_0 And if I'm divisive, my whole life all I've been trying to do is bring people together. And, you know,

spk_0 yeah, I listen, I had and still do have got incredible affection for President Obama. And I'm

spk_0 grateful to President Obama. But I'm grateful to our nation for electing him. Because it just made

spk_0 an example of we're not, we're not exactly the racist country that we used to be. We've gotten

spk_0 better. We're not perfect. We've made a lot of progress. I tell my players all the time. Thank

spk_0 your dads. Thank your grandfather. I said, God bless them. You've got a great brother, grandfather,

spk_0 life. Thank him because he went through real slavery and real adversity. And we've come a long

spk_0 way as a country. I'm proud of that. But I live the same way, Dan, with my Jewish faith. I know

spk_0 anti-Semitism is incredibly on the rise. It breaks my heart when I see people out there supporting

spk_0 Hamas. But this is the greatest country in the world. The land of opportunity for all. I have had

spk_0 obstacles, but not roadblocks. There were three Jewish basketball coaches at the final for this year.

spk_0 Don't tell me this isn't a great country and not the land of opportunity for all. And I wanted my

spk_0 players to be able to look at Barack Obama and go, you can do anything. You can be anything.

spk_0 It's just that I never felt Barack Obama was grateful to a nation for putting him there.

spk_0 It wasn't just the African-American community that voted for him. Lots of white folks voted for him.

spk_0 I did as well. And I just thought that that was one thing. I want my players to believe they can

spk_0 be anything, but I also want them to be grateful for the opportunity. And I'm not asking them to do

spk_0 anything that I haven't embraced myself. Yeah, I asked truthfully I was shocked because I mean,

spk_0 you know, if somebody's going to say, way saying he's staying at Auburn, but yet he was forced out,

spk_0 I was just a little surprised by that. And I'm glad I asked you because it's terrific.

spk_0 All right. Last thing back to Steven real quick. Just one more thing. Just clean this up.

spk_0 Again, three really good friends might reached out and said, Coach Pearl, let's have dinner.

spk_0 Let's talk religion and politics and everything. We may agree to disagree. And so I just want to

spk_0 put that out there that that that that you know what? It's just an example of why we should be

spk_0 talking about religion and politics around the dinner table and things like that like you do

spk_0 on a show because we don't do it anymore. So therefore, whenever we're good at it. So we go right

spk_0 away to Defcon 5 and we get elevated. And I don't want to elevate the situation with Mike at all.

spk_0 I actually like to be able to get together with him. Find out in areas we disagree and have a dialogue.

spk_0 Yeah, I mean, that's the way the world should be. I'm in the middle of something here. And I,

spk_0 you know, I spoke truthfully. Many people that know the situation are supporting the hell out of me.

spk_0 Some are having dialogue and you know, that's, you know, others are saying what guy said about you.

spk_0 divisive racist blah blah blah blah. You know, okay, fine. You know, that's, you know, but nobody,

spk_0 I mean, a middle of a thing and I've asked people like, why does nobody ask me why I said what I said?

spk_0 Nobody's asked me. Just call the names and it's great that you and Will Bonner are gonna, or I hope,

spk_0 have a chance to sit out because I think my, I've always thought Mike's a reasonable guy. I've

spk_0 met him a few times at ESPN. He's called me, you know, I guess me and Isaiah were his two go-to

spk_0 Indiana guys when there was something. So he would call us an A. Guys can talk, you know, to your

spk_0 point about talking about religion or race or politics, we can have differences of opinion.

spk_0 Just don't be a jackass, I guess. There's no question about it. Like one of the things I tell

spk_0 people all the time and I'm a conservative public. I'm a huge, I am and was a huge fan of affirmative

spk_0 action. We were, we were way swung in the wrong places and there was a really difficult for the

spk_0 African-American community, black men, black women to be able to get anywhere in this country. We

spk_0 had to do some things to change that course to give the opportunity. Dan, you've been in high

spk_0 schools in the state of Indiana. You know what they look like in Indiana, in Annapolis, and you know

spk_0 what they look like in East Chicago and Gary. And you understand the differences in the opportunities

spk_0 as a basketball coach. We had to doing some catching up. Now, like everything the pendulum swings

spk_0 both ways, have we then now gone too far in certain areas and looked at people that may not have

spk_0 been qualified for certain things because we're trying to fill quotas. Does that make me a racist?

spk_0 By even saying that, I don't think it does. I don't. I don't either. But listen, you can take anything,

spk_0 you can put it out of context and you can make a case if you want to. You keep doing what you're

spk_0 doing, brother. You're making a huge, huge difference. You know, we work together in sports and,

spk_0 you know what, anybody you were incredibly talented and incredibly funny. You were actually,

spk_0 you were better. Your personality, Dan, was better doing what you're doing than you even were in

spk_0 coaching because in coaching, you were at S times. You know, you were proud of that too. I mean,

spk_0 you got to have to referee, you got to players, you got the other coach in the league, hey, did you?

spk_0 I mean, you were such a better dude, not coaching. All right. But you do now what you're doing for

spk_0 living, you're going to, you want to get people to think, you know, you want to get them, you want

spk_0 to put different things out there. What you say and what I say doesn't always make us right. But

spk_0 it's okay to have the conversation. So I trust you, brother. And I don't want to break some of

spk_0 the heart of anybody calling you a racist or anything like that. You think of that as if how many,

spk_0 how many African-American men did you help graduate? How many do you, how many did you help?

spk_0 They bought a certain situations or go through situations where their families. This is what kind of,

spk_0 this is what bothers me a little bit. It's man, we, we, we, we, we, we, we're out there doing the work.

spk_0 And we don't, we don't want to cred for it, but just don't be hating us.

spk_0 Yeah, I had a kid. If you probably had a bunch of these, you coached along tonight. Did I have

spk_0 an African-American kid cry? And he goes, coach, you're the first white guy ever tell me no

spk_0 and yell at me. I go, well, that's sad. Was that sad? Do you ever have any white coaches? Yeah,

spk_0 You know, top five Tuesday, the best opening days in sports. All right. I'm going to include the

spk_0 Olympics in this. I am. I don't care. So I'm going to put number five at the NHL and the NBA.

spk_0 Either one, I really don't care. The NBA does probably move up ahead of it simply because, well,

spk_0 you know what? They do and the in the NBA give away rings and they make a big deal about us.

spk_0 I probably let me put the NBA at number five. Number four, I'm going to put the NFL opening

spk_0 day. What is it? A Thursday night, usually a really good game, but it isn't really about

spk_0 opening day. It's about the fact that when you go through August and July after the NBA playoffs,

spk_0 certainly here in Indy, we got through the NBA playoffs. There's nothing there. Reports from

spk_0 training camp, the trade deadline, all of a sudden in August, yeah, a team may go on a five-game

spk_0 winning streak in baseball and you're like, oh, that's great. But when opening day of the NFL comes,

spk_0 whatever it is in the first 10 days of September, that's a big deal. Gambling starts,

spk_0 prop bets get going. It just turns it up and gets everybody. Yeah. Let's go. So that's number four.

spk_0 Number three, I'm going to go with Olympic opening day. It's the most spectacular of all the

spk_0 opening days, particularly I feel like the summer Olympics. I always felt like, you know what? I don't

spk_0 even know. Do they have a winter Olympics opening day? I'm sure it's spectacular, but I feel like

spk_0 the summer Olympics opening day. Now everybody is trying to outspend one another. All the countries

spk_0 that are doing it are tried out. Wow. Everybody. Number two is Major League Baseball opening day. Now

spk_0 you're saying Dan, Major League Baseball opening day is the greatest day of the year, greatest opening

spk_0 day of the year. And it's not close. And I'll give you that. But hang on a second. This is my list.

spk_0 Major League Baseball opening day makes you feel like a kid again. It makes you feel like

spk_0 you're skipping school. Remember, I don't know why you would skip school. Maybe to go out under

spk_0 the bleachers with Susie, Rotten Crotch. Maybe because you wanted to go to a ball game. Maybe because

spk_0 you wanted to stay in and have a nap. Maybe you wanted to go get drunk. I don't know. And he don't

spk_0 us. What the hell do I know? I don't know. And in Northwest Indiana, a lot of kids on a nice day

spk_0 would go to the beach. That's right. There's a beautiful beach in Gary, Indiana. But opening day

spk_0 was a reason to skip school. Opening day was a reason my brother got thrown out at Andrain High

spk_0 School for a minute until they rectified it and let him graduate for skipping school after he

spk_0 was told not to and going to opening day. Kids did that. Wriggly field, Kamiski Park. But number one

spk_0 opening day to me is October 15th. He's talking about October 15th. Guys of my age that grew up in the

spk_0 great state of Indiana understood and guys in college understood that October 15th was the first

spk_0 day of high school and college basketball practice for years. I love basketball so much. I could not

spk_0 wait till October 15th. I would actually be nervous the night before. I would be like, oh man,

spk_0 October 15th is tomorrow. I couldn't sleep. I would love October 15th. Now it's all wonky.

spk_0 Who knows what opening day is for college basketball? If you play on November 8th, you can open

spk_0 up in September. If you play on November 28th, you can't, I don't know. But I know this.

spk_0 October 15th was the greatest day ever. Ever. For basketball players of a certain age, my age

spk_0 around my age older, younger, ever. The greatest opening day ever. It lives in infamy.

spk_0 Is October 15th. Speaking of the Cubs, son of a biscuit maker. Watching last night, I'm reading a

spk_0 new book, a Belldachi novel. I'm digging it. I'm reading. I'm hanging. Bam. What?

spk_0 Three runs shot. Say a 110 mile exit mile an hour. 440 feet. Go on. Rasters. Whatever it is in

spk_0 Miller park or whatever that place is called. Next thing you know, bottom of the first. Boom.

spk_0 Three run Johnson. Cubs don't get another run. The Cubs lose seven to three.

spk_0 Dodgers take a two zip lead. Now if a son on the post game show, I should have sent it to you guys.

spk_0 The guys on the post game show are arguing with one another. I ain't mad about it. That's passion

spk_0 in my world. All right, let's do it. Won't could dope me, baby.

spk_0 I don't worry. We will survive the last government shutdown lasted four years. I get a kick

spk_0 out of folks saying how much Donald Trump goes on vacation or goes in golfs. Every time I see Donald

spk_0 Trump, I go, Amen. There it is. I mean, you know, I don't know. Try it there. This is what happened.

spk_0 Rehobus Beach and other places. There's your guy. He didn't seem to care. Did he? Maybe it was auto

spk_0 pen that was working. This thing was just going. Oh, next.

spk_0 Who wouldn't want to go on that? Me. You imagine being on that flight, listening to that level

spk_0 of stupidity of that level of hate. Hmm, not great. Next.

spk_0 F&R? Find out. There you go, man. A lot of people are angry, constantly at Donald Trump.

spk_0 And look, I get it. You got to be on one side or the other. We'll see what I'm not happy about

spk_0 Donald Trump is prices. And I'll say this, you know, gas prices, fine, market up fine. But I'll say

spk_0 this. And I don't know if he can control this or not, but he did run on it. He's going to get

spk_0 prices down, prices, they ain't down. And frankly, prices, they ain't coming down.

spk_0 Once businesses learn that the consumer is stuck and he's going to pay $4 for something

spk_0 that was $1, that thing is going to stay at $4. Period. And that ain't good. That's my bitch

spk_0 about Trump. You know, again, I've always said, Hey, I don't give a damn about who you were

spk_0 stripping back when I don't give a damn about what you said back when, no, that matters to me.

spk_0 It matters to you. Good. Not to me. But the truth of the matter is he has not done what he has

spk_0 said relative to bringing prices down and that needs to change. I don't know what he can do.

spk_0 I mean, you got greedy people that are trying to stick it to us. I get it. You've got Democrats

spk_0 that are using that. I'm sure as a political base or as a political strategy against Donald Trump.

spk_0 And I don't think that's necessarily right. I don't. Last, last thing.

spk_0 I will say this to anybody that's listening. I just don't understand protesting in favor of people

spk_0 that slaughtered so many two years ago. Took so many hostages. I'll never understand it. And then

spk_0 hid as Bruce Pearl was saying under bunkers and hid away under people in hospitals. I'll never

spk_0 understand supporting that. Now, you do you, but that is something I will never ever understand.

spk_0 Call me whatever names you want. Hell, you already do. But I will never, ever, ever understand that. See you tomorrow.
