spk_0 Got off to a great start and played strong complimentary football.

spk_0 It was on Adam.

spk_0 I'm glad we started yesterday faster than road dogs.

spk_0 As I said, it was important to get off to a fast start.

spk_0 And that's when we did the power surge.

spk_0 No, absolutely.

spk_0 They did, Jeff.

spk_0 And that was something that was fun to watch.

spk_0 It was fun to see Georgia come out and really just establish a run to establish the tempo of the game.

spk_0 Running, throwing the ball, drove down for about eight minutes.

spk_0 And it was just seven-nothing.

spk_0 Then they followed it right back up with another impressive drive.

spk_0 Fourteen-nothing.

spk_0 Then you saw Kentucky start to try to get back into it a little bit.

spk_0 But, you know, Georgia always kept that arm out.

spk_0 They were never close to them.

spk_0 I liked what Georgia did yesterday.

spk_0 Especially bouncing back from a tough loss at home last week.

spk_0 They came out and they did what we wanted them to do, which is really just show up and get it going.

spk_0 And not wait till that late in the second quarter or even the second half to start producing.

spk_0 And Eric, let's talk about a sequence here.

spk_0 It's 14-7, Georgia.

spk_0 Kentucky gets a stop.

spk_0 Brett Thorson with an all-time or pun.

spk_0 A 60-yarder to the one.

spk_0 Three-and-out.

spk_0 Three-stake, two-yard plays.

spk_0 Good return by branch.

spk_0 Some of it gets negated because of a penalty.

spk_0 Dogs get down.

spk_0 Get a touchdown to go up 21-7.

spk_0 Now, Kentucky had a chance for that two-for-none.

spk_0 They come down.

spk_0 Miss a short field goal.

spk_0 Georgia gets a stop to start the second half.

spk_0 The dogs come down in school.

spk_0 28-7.

spk_0 Then 35-7.

spk_0 That sequence there.

spk_0 It's such a beautiful thing when the offense, the defense, and the special teams all play towards one another.

spk_0 Well, and listen, it takes all phases of the game.

spk_0 If you want to go out and dominate, but you're right, it was, there was a period in that game where it looked like Kentucky could claw back.

spk_0 Right, the last four minutes of that, the first half.

spk_0 We know how critical that is.

spk_0 The first four minutes coming out at half-time in the dogs found a way to go win that.

spk_0 Really keep this game relatively, relatively boring.

spk_0 What I really love seeing, though, is coming into this game.

spk_0 We had a couple of things that, at least for me, we needed to get corrected.

spk_0 That was, we had to go start fast.

spk_0 So many games here in recent memory.

spk_0 We've been clawing ourselves out of a hole.

spk_0 Then can we go win on third down?

spk_0 We took care of both of those things yesterday.

spk_0 Obviously won that critical portion of the football game.

spk_0 If you could win that, you're going to put yourself in a position to win a lot of football games.

spk_0 And the third down numbers, Georgia 8 out of 12.

spk_0 Kentucky was 3 of 11.

spk_0 Rush yards 4, excuse me, 180 to 46.

spk_0 Totally yards 4, 25 to 270.

spk_0 And Kentucky, they've got a heck of a running back.

spk_0 It's Seth McGowan.

spk_0 He had 44 of their 45 yards on the ground.

spk_0 And he's a good strong running back.

spk_0 But they didn't have really anything else to go along with him.

spk_0 And he looked at the defense.

spk_0 CJ Allen and Justin Williams really led the way yesterday.

spk_0 Both those guys had six tackles.

spk_0 And it was great to see CJ punch that ball out, create a turn over.

spk_0 Yeah, I mean, we need turnovers, you know.

spk_0 We're putting that ball on the ground right now.

spk_0 I think we came out two and two yesterday, big zero.

spk_0 But we're still not in that plus for the year.

spk_0 That's a problem.

spk_0 And the other problem yesterday was penalties.

spk_0 Seven penalties from almost 60 yards.

spk_0 That's way too much.

spk_0 The one thing I do like and just to jump on what y'all just finished with.

spk_0 You know, when George gets out to that good start, gets a team up.

spk_0 They're up 14, nothing on team.

spk_0 That's when that home field advantage is really taken over from Kirby.

spk_0 Kirby's had that for 33 games in a row.

spk_0 We were doing that.

spk_0 We need to get back to that because all of a sudden the crowd becomes that 12th person.

spk_0 When you're up 14, nothing teams are trying to climb back in.

spk_0 That atmosphere certainly comes into play.

spk_0 It did yesterday.

spk_0 And we just need to get back to that no matter who we play.

spk_0 We've got some big home games coming up.

spk_0 We know they're going to be a fast solid start.

spk_0 It's going to be so important to try to get through this remaining schedule.

spk_0 It's going to be a beast.

spk_0 Oh, it is such a grind and it starts with going to the loveliest village on the plains

spk_0 Here in Kevin Butler over to my right and KB, a Georgia victory is there a better way to lead off the brunch.

spk_0 Well, you know, after a great day, you have a great night and that's always followed by the most perfect morning.

spk_0 There's only one way to start out a perfect morning.

spk_0 That's with my lady, Killa. Bring it on, honey. What you got?

spk_0 Good morning, Kevin and Jeff. What a wonderful day yesterday. Beautiful weather.

spk_0 Nice day and we actually scored on the first drive. Who was the best?

spk_0 I'm so glad to see us finally coming out and making great offensive plays and defensive plays.

spk_0 I'm proud of my doubts this morning.

spk_0 Well, that's awesome. Killa, thank you for always starting us off with the right attitude.

spk_0 And yeah, it was. It was great to see him get out to a good start. It was good to see them.

spk_0 You know, answer when Kentucky came back, put it to seven. We got to 21.

spk_0 Just as Jeff was talking a tremendous play on the special teams.

spk_0 You only saw the old Thunderfoot from down under one time, but it was a really game-changing.

spk_0 You see momentum happen. You see teams respond from it. We talk about it all the time, Jeff.

spk_0 That's what complimenting your offense and your defense is all about as a kicker and a punner in Georgia is really blessed right now to have not only Brett, but Peyton in there.

spk_0 It's a great combination. It's just something that you just can't take for granted, especially as we get deeper into this schedule, those kind of plays are going to carry so much better.

spk_0 Much weight. Well, they sure do. And we've talked about this a lot.

spk_0 I think last year with the struggles the offense had between backs, interceptions, the drops, the running game just couldn't get its footing.

spk_0 The defense was good for the most part, but not as dominant. There is no doubt in my mind.

spk_0 And Georgia's collective MVP last year was woodaring and thorsen put together. Those guys are flat out weapons. And what a day there for Brett, one for one of Boomer.

spk_0 He came to see us at the hotel in the go with his parents last night. And that was really awesome. So so happy for everybody said, well, I made the one count. He certainly did.

spk_0 And indeed, he did. What a wonderful family. I tell you they, they really have got a fond love for Georgia in a quick moment. You know, that's kind of their introduction to the United States.

spk_0 And they've, they've really enjoyed it. And his sister was there. Her boyfriend there. They're going to New York, trying to give him a little advice to go to New York.

spk_0 I just said you're going to have a bigger. Just going to have a grand time as it's a cool cool city. It's just a couple of buildings, not not too big. You'll recognize it when you see it.

spk_0 And it was again, as we were saying, just the complimentary football for Georgia to get out to that hot start and Kirby really made a point of that.

spk_0 Even going back to last year's we've felt behind tech 17, nothing, you know, trailed in the half against both Texas and Notre Dame. And the last two times out in fall behind Tennessee 21 seven and Alabama 14 nothing.

spk_0 Obviously with Kirby and the incredible success of this program. He's the best coach in the country and on the Mount Rushmore of all time. Great SEC coaches there.

spk_0 That playing from behind in this league. That is not a recipe for sustained success this season. So that switch got flipped yesterday.

spk_0 Yeah, it did. And when you think about the way Kirby has constructed this football team and the way he wants to play, which is we're going to be sound in all phases of the game. Right. We're just talking about the specialty teams.

spk_0 We've got weapons there for sure. We want to be able to run the football that got fixed coming into this year as well. But to go play if you're having to play from behind the way he wants and the way this team is constructed.

spk_0 That is a very difficult task. Not just for us for anybody anywhere across the country. If we can go come out of the gates and get ready to go early the way this defense can play.

spk_0 If we're not chasing from behind the way we can run the football the way we can dominate the special teams. A lot of victories will come from that. Welcome back Dylan Bell. This guy two years ago.

spk_0 I thought at the end of the sea. He was playing like Heinz Ward. He think about that Tennessee game. He's catching touchdowns throw and touchdowns running on reverses making big plays in the special teams.

spk_0 I think it's just never seemed to really get into the rhythm last year. It's the same for the start of this season. But Dylan Bell was back and you talk about another weapon because this guy can really do it all.

spk_0 He's the best bell ringer since a need award. Let me tell you ring my bell. He did it all day yesterday. And I think that's so true because when you ever Eric you can say when you ever receiver that's also running the ball.

spk_0 I mean the respect the defense has to give him when he's in there no matter where he's going. He's in motion. If he's you know kind of you know staggering down near that quarterback. Okay he can do two things now. You've got them a little off balance when he has a game like he did yesterday.

spk_0 Very valuable to Georgia. I think it makes everybody better. His leadership and his presence on the field. Make Georgia better offense.

spk_0 And Eric I'm going to make you go to for on this with exactly what Kevin would say with that guy being a threat on those end of rounds. What does that do for the quarterback if you bring him in motion or where you line him up the defense has to be aware of that as well.

spk_0 He's a matchup night. He's a matchup nightmare and you have to account for him. And then all of a sudden you put Kobe Young out there. You've got you've got branch out there as well that you've got to account for you. Get those three guys on the field in any given time. Good to see our tide in step into the game a little bit more yesterday.

spk_0 And as well but when you've got a Dylan Bell that can hurt you in so many ways that that you've got to account for and you've got these other weapons as well that that complimented it is a if if Dylan Bell can get more involved and more engage in this offense.

spk_0 The way he did yesterday ended with four catches 68 yards at the great one handed catch yesterday on the vertical at six yards Russian the football as well.

spk_0 He is just he is a problem for defenses. He has been since he's he's been here. He gets that much more effective too with some of the other weapons that we've been able to add around.

spk_0 We need to run into a timeout but hello Elias Williams just like eating more bacon wrap shrimp at the hilltop grill the more he plays the more touches he gets the better it is Elias and Elijah on the defensive front five stars with sky high.

spk_0 See the side the road dogs over there he is already eaten all of his cheese crackers. He's consumed four bacon wrap shrimp and is getting ready for his steak bacon and red meal grits.

spk_0 I love that man will return to the phones when we return as we celebrate a wonderful Georgia victory and a great crowd here on the patio hug dogs dancing on the table already.

spk_0 I thought the Thorsten putt in a 60-yarder down on the one-yard line.

spk_0 Just amazing.

spk_0 Then to get the three-and-out.

spk_0 Branch had a really good return.

spk_0 Hated to get the penalty, but still to come in and score.

spk_0 That was a drive where Delp had the big catch as well.

spk_0 Just to punch it in there and go up 21-7 at that point.

spk_0 I think that was deflating the Kentucky.

spk_0 Then Z, as you said,

spk_0 hey, at that point, they had a chance to get the old two for none.

spk_0 Score at the end of the half.

spk_0 They get down to our eight-yard line.

spk_0 Not only do we keep mad at the end zone, they miss the field goal.

spk_0 We get a stop.

spk_0 We get a score.

spk_0 The most important part of every football game is the last four minutes.

spk_0 The first four minutes coming out of the locker room at halftime.

spk_0 When you can win that, games completely, you can dominate a football game for every other part of the game.

spk_0 You lose that.

spk_0 Momentum switches.

spk_0 You can close gaps very quickly.

spk_0 Of course, it's so critical.

spk_0 Dogs able to win it yesterday.

spk_0 It really made it a boring football game.

spk_0 When you go back and you look at it.

spk_0 That's what it should be when you're the better team.

spk_0 But there are a number of times in that game where Kentucky plays a little bit better.

spk_0 You know they're sitting back watching film today.

spk_0 What does it cut us if we could have just executed in a couple of these spots.

spk_0 We could have been a different outcome.

spk_0 But dogs took care of business where they needed to.

spk_0 KB, you know, I was a fast learner.

spk_0 I never will forget.

spk_0 Even though it was a dark night on 1183 Penn State was dominating.

spk_0 It's 20 to three.

spk_0 We scored with about 15 seconds to go in the half and got the ball to start the second half and Herschel went over the top.

spk_0 And all of a sudden it's like, wow, I went from 20 to three to 20 to 17.

spk_0 Essentially without them getting the ball.

spk_0 That's called stealing a possession.

spk_0 That's why teams defer because you can get that two possessions.

spk_0 I hear announcer say I'll throw them getting a two for one.

spk_0 Well, that's right.

spk_0 Everything's a two for one.

spk_0 But when you can get that two for none, especially if you're that underdog and steal a possession.

spk_0 We talked about it before the game.

spk_0 Mark Stoops is a heck of a coach.

spk_0 Kirby's got so much respect for him.

spk_0 He was going to try and slow the game down.

spk_0 His plan was working pretty good right there.

spk_0 But Georgia made the plays and they just didn't execute it.

spk_0 Yeah, I think you know, at the end of the day, Georgia is more talented team.

spk_0

spk_0 I mean, and we won those individual battles that we needed to.

spk_0 And we lost some of those last week.

spk_0 Simple one.

spk_0 We lost last week.

spk_0 We missed a block on a game changing play.

spk_0 Obviously this week we made a great play by London Humphries on that punt, which again kickstart at the defense.

spk_0 Three and out.

spk_0 We get down there.

spk_0 We score, you know, we go up 35 to seven against Kentucky.

spk_0 And we go down about the score again.

spk_0 And we go four to four down and don't make it right down at their 11 yard line.

spk_0 All of a sudden they get into a 20 play drive and it ends in an interception.

spk_0 But during that 20 plays, we gave them two first downs for defensive penalties.

spk_0 We had a holding and I think an interference call.

spk_0 They ran four running plays of those 20 plays for a total of three yards.

spk_0 So we gave them most of that in two penalties.

spk_0 To be honest, we did.

spk_0 They were throwing the ball, but you you saw them take up eight and a half minutes.

spk_0 That one series kind of through the stats as you look at it off a little bit.

spk_0 Brought a much back much closer in possession, which Georgia was totally dominated until that.

spk_0 But I'm looking at it.

spk_0 I'm looking at who always in there on those defensive plays.

spk_0 We did start substituting a lot of guys in there.

spk_0 That's where you get a little bit of the penalty.

spk_0 You know, that just that comes from playing as you well know.

spk_0 But that's how you let teams back in like that by making penalties again.

spk_0 Without those penalties, that series would have been probably six plays at the most.

spk_0 And then we can't do that next Saturday night.

spk_0 That place will be just just a rabbit on fire.

spk_0 I want to throw out there again.

spk_0 And here's the numerous great attributes that coach Keen Kirby smart has with some of the struggles.

spk_0 We were having it in the secondary putting D'Amello Jones in the second half last week against Alabama played great.

spk_0 He got the start played really well out there again.

spk_0 And I know there's sometimes you're going off of practice and all the analytics.

spk_0 But it's like this guy makes place.

spk_0 He's flying around.

spk_0 He's tackling it.

spk_0 Justin Williams came in and played well again yesterday.

spk_0 Kirby is we all know those jobs are always up for grabs.

spk_0 That means all 22 on offense and defense.

spk_0 Every one of the special teams is up for grabs.

spk_0 And sometimes guys those tough losses as bad as they sting.

spk_0 Maybe just maybe that can create an opportunity that somebody takes advantage of.

spk_0 And that negative.

spk_0 That perhaps turned into a positive way.

spk_0 It definitely wakes you up for sure.

spk_0 When you're a player, do you lose a game like that?

spk_0 Or you don't go out and play well as a collective unit.

spk_0 There's an intensity of focus on everything.

spk_0 And you're exactly right.

spk_0 JD, it is guys that maybe weren't getting a shot or hey, it's close.

spk_0 But we're going to go with one guy versus the other.

spk_0 All of a sudden you go out and you don't have a, you know, you go lose a football game.

spk_0 You don't play well.

spk_0 That's where some things can get shaken up a little bit.

spk_0 And you're right.

spk_0 You can go get better.

spk_0 The interesting thing.

spk_0 There's so much movement in college football in today's college football that.

spk_0 I don't know if you really know what you have until you get five, six games deep into a season.

spk_0 And we're seeing that across the college football landscape today.

spk_0 It's not like you've got these rosters that have just been set in stone.

spk_0 And you know exactly what you're looking at.

spk_0 It is that there's so much turnover year over year over year.

spk_0 You've got new guys coming in.

spk_0 You haven't seen them in the fire right now.

spk_0 It's going to take four, five, six games deep for people to really know what you have.

spk_0 And also just that familiarity.

spk_0 I mean, you think about Kevin, your freshman year was 81.

spk_0 Eric years was 91.

spk_0 I mean, they were guys.

spk_0 You're senior years that you had been with.

spk_0 They're 18, 20 guys.

spk_0 You had been playing four years with.

spk_0 You know which way that receiver is going to break with Kevin.

spk_0 He knew Jimmy Harrel was going to get that hold down.

spk_0 And that is so incredibly important.

spk_0 So just to have that continuity and Kirby has done such an unbelievable job.

spk_0 And this year we keep most of our guys and plug holes in the portal.

spk_0 A lot of teams are there bringing in 2030 new guys.

spk_0 And it's working for some teams.

spk_0 But sometimes that chemistry does it mix.

spk_0 That's why again, it takes a while to figure things out.

spk_0 Now I know this is what I was doing my my preseason top 12 for the Bulldog Illustrated.

spk_0 I'm looking at every team going like, well, you know, worry about us here.

spk_0 But our roster is better than theirs.

spk_0 A roster is better than this.

spk_0 These guys might be better one through 22.

spk_0 But I like a roster being deeper there.

spk_0 So that's one thing too.

spk_0 I've had to get my head away from thinking is this like 21 22 23 the teams we had.

spk_0 Or what Alabama had 20 what LSU had 19 those Clemson teams with Trevor Lawrence and Deshaun Watson.

spk_0 The way the game is set up now.

spk_0 It's borderline impossible to accumulate a roster like that.

spk_0 Well, it's a salary cap.

spk_0 I mean, let's be honest.

spk_0 This is out of what that's what it is.

spk_0 Unless you have young men that want to come here because they have a passion for the University of Georgia.

spk_0 They've dreamed about playing here.

spk_0 And money is not the most important thing.

spk_0 You still get a lot of those kids that of course that bill.

spk_0 But your five stars and by the way, we're starting a school that can do that.

spk_0 There are not many schools.

spk_0 There's enough out there every school can do it to one player for sure.

spk_0 I'm talking about where kids are going to grow up.

spk_0 I want to get a Georgia.

spk_0 I want to get an LSU.

spk_0 They're not too many schools like that to your point.

spk_0 Yes.

spk_0 I mean, we're fortunate to be one of them.

spk_0 We certainly are, but that's not.

spk_0 Yeah.

spk_0 That's not a guarantee anymore.

spk_0 It's the exception of the rule.

spk_0 How many kids have we had say, yeah, I'm going to Georgia, Georgia.

spk_0 And they get that phone call last 24 hours.

spk_0 Justice Terry.

spk_0 Yeah, Tyler Ackinson.

spk_0 They just they go.

spk_0 And hey, you know, that's the name of the game now.

spk_0 So it's you got to you have to fight that.

spk_0 But you know, more importantly, I just see with the SEC expansion.

spk_0 I mean, you're looking at Ole Miss Texas A&M Alabama, Missouri,

spk_0 and Oklahoma all undefeated in the SEC.

spk_0 They all play each other.

spk_0 They all play.

spk_0 I mean, it is going to be a battle.

spk_0 I mean, it's just going to be crazy.

spk_0 Who people of Oklahoma still right now?

spk_0 And they look good.

spk_0 They got Texas.

spk_0 Then they have to place out Carolina Ole Miss Tennessee, Alabama, Missouri.

spk_0 I mean, nobody's running that tape.

spk_0 No, well, no.

spk_0 And then you look at you look at Ole Misses.

spk_0 I mean, I think Ole Miss might have probably the most.

spk_0 Now they can navigate through this with.

spk_0 It's it's Washington State.

spk_0 And Georgia, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Citadel, Florida, and Mississippi State.

spk_0 I mean, those are there's trap games throughout it.

spk_0 Of course.

spk_0 And you look at Texas A&M, same thing Alabama, same thing.

spk_0 You just see it now.

spk_0 People are going to lose one in two games.

spk_0 And it doesn't mean that they're out.

spk_0 And I think that a lot of people said, hey, three games.

spk_0 There's no way you're going to be in a playoffs.

spk_0 Let this thing play out.

spk_0 There might be five.

spk_0 Great, great football games.

spk_0 And some big upsets that are just going to, you know, spend this thing like a wheel.

spk_0 There might be five teams in the SEC at nine and three.

spk_0 I don't know what the committee would do.

spk_0 And Kevin, I'll go back to what I've always said.

spk_0 You played on the greatest team in the NFL that won one and only won Super Bowl.

spk_0 The 85 Bears.

spk_0 I feel like the Steelers dynasty of the late 70s was the most complete dynasty.

spk_0 They had all their guys together.

spk_0 That was before free agency.

spk_0 There's 79 champions.

spk_0 All 43 of their players were drafted by the Steelers that had only played for the Steelers.

spk_0 Yeah.

spk_0 The way the rules were set up like when you guys lose Wilbur Marshall, it was impossible.

spk_0 And now you guys were still really good.

spk_0 We had the 49ers really good.

spk_0 You could not keep a team together.

spk_0 Like the Steelers could in the 70s.

spk_0 Like the dolphins could in the 70s when the free agency came about.

spk_0 No, and I think college teams kind of fit more into this.

spk_0 What I'm explaining, you know, there was such chemistry on that team that that 85 team.

spk_0 We had 13 rookies make that team.

spk_0 You know, you got 52 players back then.

spk_0 We had 13.

spk_0 That's a pretty good chunk.

spk_0 You don't really see 13.

spk_0 The quarter of the roster.

spk_0 I mean, it was kind of unbelievable.

spk_0 But everybody that made that team had to contribute.

spk_0 And just as you said, there's a place on the team, whether it's a special team, whether it's, you know, defense back and up.

spk_0 And we had, we had guys start.

spk_0 We had, you know, I think we had four or three, three guys, three rookies scoring the Super Bowl.

spk_0 That's right.

spk_0 And it's chemistry.

spk_0 You know, and I think a lot of these college teams, you saw my Emmy team last night.

spk_0 If you watch the end of the game, that looks like they got good chemistry.

spk_0 I mean, they're, they're hitting on all cylinders right now.

spk_0 Got great athletes that make big plays, game changing plays.

spk_0 And you kind of run with that.

spk_0 And one off season, it can change that.

spk_0 Even if you keep everybody there, that chemistry sometimes is not as bright, doesn't burn as intense as it did the year before.

spk_0 When you're bringing a whole new roster in and you see this with Florida State as well.

spk_0 Right.

spk_0 You can go out and get guys purposely recruit guys into a program onto a team that you know we're going to fit from a chemistry stand.

spk_0 And we're going to be on point all that's well and good like for my, I want to see Miami when they go through adversity.

spk_0 That's right.

spk_0 Because the, when you don't, when you're not, when you don't form that brotherhood yet.

spk_0 That brotherhood has formed through years of getting up and working out and bleeding together and sweating together and right for over years.

spk_0 It takes that chemistry to develop.

spk_0 It is the minute that that Miami are these teams that are bringing in a bunch of people when they go through adversity.

spk_0 That's when I want to see how they're going to go respond.

spk_0 I know how the dogs are going to respond.

spk_0 We've seen it.

spk_0 Absolutely.

spk_0 We've got the greatest coach in the country and the program, the culture we have.

spk_0 It's second to none.

spk_0 And just look at all those championship manners that are flying above Sanford State even do Lee field.

spk_0 All right.

spk_0 We will wrap up our number one and she's over there directed traffic doing a great job.

spk_0 She's like the waving lady in Savannah.

spk_0 They're on River Street.

spk_0 The great Kevin Butler and Eric Zeyer, two of George's most successful dynamic players ever.
