spk_0 During the, I want to bring people into this. This is this is the show. I want to make sure

spk_0 people are understanding what's happening. So in the first hour there was during the conversation

spk_0 about the Seattle Mariners and Detroit Tigers series. I mentioned that one of the storylines

spk_0 is whether Josh Neller will play. Josh Neller, we have no indication why. So I tweet that

spk_0 Josh Neller was not on the team plane with Seattle when they flew from Seattle to Detroit.

spk_0 Then I saw someone else say that, oh, I think he's having a baby. And then I told you that the way

spk_0 it would work is if you leave it 9 a.m. on a game day, you get there, you get to play the game,

spk_0 you're there for the birthday or baby. And Coco got PTSD about something that happened. I don't

spk_0 know six years ago before COVID, that's how long ago it happened. And you can look it up if you

spk_0 want. But I was either on this show or on a different show. And there was an example of a player who

spk_0 missed a World Series game, Daniel Hudson, to attend the birth of his baby. And I was very critical

spk_0 of that because I thought that his teammates would be critical of that. And I thought that as a

spk_0 team executive, I'd be critical of that. He was there closer at the time. And my view was that

spk_0 you the owners would have flown him privately to the game and then right back after the game and

spk_0 flying back and forth, just come to the, you know, the three and a half hours of the game.

spk_0 And so the situation with Josh Neller, he's not the closer, but he's a very important piece of

spk_0 the Mariners and Mariners acquired him for this purpose at the deadline with you, Henio Suarez.

spk_0 And they, they are all in. They've never, they've, wait, they've never been to the World Series.

spk_0 Forget one the World Series. And during the break, Koka reminded me prior to the recording of this

spk_0 hour, you know, people are already upset given your situation with your child who's sick right now.

spk_0 And you're missing work. You're recording late two weeks of missed work. There may be more down the

spk_0 line where I can't do a show. How could you be so inconsistent? Are you choosing family or

spk_0 you choosing work? And it reminds me of something that was mentioned to me when I was young, very young.

spk_0 And it was, it was my mother who did this actually. And we were visiting a older relative,

spk_0 like a great-grandparent of mine. And I didn't want to go. I was a young kid. I wanted to be with

spk_0 my friends. I wanted to play video games, although we didn't have video games. We had pong, but whatever

spk_0 I had, Atari, I just wanted to, whatever do whatever it is kids do. I wanted to dribble a basketball

spk_0 left to have it. And what I was told is what you do in life is way more important than what you do

spk_0 in death. And it's the concept of would you attend his funeral, the game that I play on

spk_0 Levitard show, where names are given of people and the question is would you go to his funeral?

spk_0 Now, a funnier game in terms of what Levitard will be trying to establish, which is what are my

spk_0 relationships with? How do I measure my relationships? Would you attend their blank in life, their

spk_0 graduation, the party for their child, their retirement ceremony, whatever their hall of fame

spk_0 ceremony, whatever the case may be? Because too often in life, we are way more focused on, hey,

spk_0 who went to the funeral? How many people were at the funeral? I mean, there are certain people who

spk_0 were obsessed with how many people were at the inauguration, but others are obsessed with how many

spk_0 people were at the funeral. And I learned when I was younger is, hey, you know, do things for

spk_0 people when they're living, it's more important than for when they're dying. And when they die, you

spk_0 know, you do things for the family and you do things for the friends or the kids or the whatever,

spk_0 but it's for the living. I get that. And what you're saying is, if that's my view, and I'm going

spk_0 through all this with my family right now, and it's causing me to interrupt work where I have to

spk_0 choose family over work. How could I not be sympathetic or have changed my view of what I think

spk_0 Josh Nellers should be doing? And again, this is pure, unadulterated, journalistic,

spk_0 irresponsibility. I have no way of knowing whether Josh Nellers

spk_0 is not flying with the team because he's having a baby. He's not flying with the team because

spk_0 he didn't show up for the plane. He's not flying with the team because he quit. He's not flying

spk_0 for the team because he got hurt. He's not flying for the team because he has a sick relative,

spk_0 a sick child. I don't know. You'll recall at the time when I said about Daniel Hudson,

spk_0 if Daniel Hudson has a complicated birth of a child, there is a danger. There's a sickness. There

spk_0 is a life. There is a injury, a death, a sickness. It's not even a question. What people don't

spk_0 remember is what I said. And I said it about Josh Nellers again today. Go to the birth. I agree.

spk_0 I mean, believe me, do we ask very nicely of our best players? Please, can you stay away from your

spk_0 wife in January? That said, if a baby is doing October, I want you to go to the birth of your baby.

spk_0 All I said was, and I'm saying it again, if the baby comes out, 10 fingers, 10 toes, no respiratory

spk_0 issues, no one built a cord around the neck, cries, craps, the mom, good survives. In perfect shape,

spk_0 everything's great except you're tired. You can't sleep and you feel a love for someone

spk_0 the likes of which you'll never feel for anyone else ever other than people or your child.

spk_0 Unless all that is the case, stay with your family. I said it about Hudson. I'll say it about Nellers.

spk_0 If Nellers is getting a child induced and do something off day, don't regret saying that. If Nellers

spk_0 child is healthy, and I mean okay after the birth, like you know, believe me if you have kids, you know.

spk_0 If you get a call in the sixth inning, and this is a little thing, Koka, that we didn't talk about

spk_0 enough is when we had decided or not decided when we would get a call that a players had had a

spk_0 problem like a parent dying. Do you tell them in the sixth inning or do wait for the game to end?

spk_0 And we would defer to the agent and to the family with what they wanted. If the agent or the

spk_0 family would say no, no, pull them off the field and tell them we'd pull them off the field.

spk_0 If the agent or the family would say no, let them finish the game and then tell them or have them

spk_0 call. We would defer. We're not making that decision. There's family and agents. That's their job.

spk_0 I mean, most agents would do that, not Scott, but most agents would do it in that way. And we would

spk_0 follow those directions. So if Josh Nellers gets a call on the third inning, hey, that he's got someone

spk_0 who's very, very ill in its emergency. See you later. The game doesn't matter. Even a World Series

spk_0 game. I'm 100% in. So please aggregators, please fans in the chat and people who love nothing

spk_0 personal don't misunderstand what I'm saying. You don't have to agree with what I'm saying,

spk_0 but at least understand the perspective that I'm giving it. Health and I do know that more than

spk_0 focused enough about Adam Silver. Number one, Adam Silver is the Commissioner of the National

spk_0 Basketball Association is in charge completely of the WNBA. Number three,

spk_0 Kathy Engelbart, the Commissioner of the WNBA, serves at the pleasure of the NBA and Adam Silver.

spk_0 Number four, the WNBA does not make money, no matter what you think about the sky,

spk_0 rocketing ratings and all the great franchise values and all the exciting stuff that's going on,

spk_0 operationally the WNBA does not make money. Number five, if you think that Adam Silver wants to spend

spk_0 one minute talking about the WNBA and the issue between the players and the Commissioner,

spk_0 you are sorely mistaken. He would much rather talk about aspiration and co-I Leonard and Uncle

spk_0 Dennis and he'd rather get a root canal than talk about Uncle Dennis and co-I Leonard and aspiration.

spk_0 That's the truth. And Adam Silver was forced to deal with both yesterday. He had to talk about the

spk_0 turns out, Pawlatory has found out a lot of stuff that's really annoying to walk to,

spk_0 lifting the investigators. They want it. He's found out a lot of stuff that makes Adam Silver say,

spk_0 oh God, I shouldn't have cut the deal already with bummer. We keep finding out more stuff,

spk_0 Steve, for the love of God. Did you do anything else? Did you invest any more money?

spk_0 Adam Silver already had to walk back his comments that he had never heard of aspiration because

spk_0 we told you nothing personal. Of course, he sort of aspiration. So we walked back.

spk_0 Then it's on to the next issue because that's how life goes when you are under this spell

spk_0 and you're stuck in the web of ptfo, Pawlatory finds out.

spk_0 The All-Star Game. What are the odds that the Intuit dome would be hosting the All-Star Game this

spk_0 year? And the Pawlatory would release a story that would crush Steve Baume ran the Clippers.

spk_0 I'm just curious, what are the odds of that? I mean, small, medium, large. We're talking like

spk_0 a banana sack or the looses piece of pajamas you've ever seen. Like, what are we talking about here?

spk_0 I'll tell you what we're talking about. We're talking about Adam Silver having to go public and say

spk_0 just to be clear. There is no contemplation of moving the All-Star Game.

spk_0 No matter what happens with the investigation, no matter what happens with Steve Baume.

spk_0 The reason why I was so sure about that, and I either mentioned it on a Pawlatory finds out

spk_0 or nothing personal show. The reason why I knew is that to move an All-Star Game is so much harder

spk_0 than you think. To put on an All-Star Game and NBA All-Star Weekend, it doesn't come together in

spk_0 a week or a month or a year. It is a multi-year process involving numerous branches of government,

spk_0 involving numerous branches of civilian leadership, civic leadership, religious leadership,

spk_0 financial leadership, business leadership, sports leadership. All of these people work together

spk_0 to do All-Star Games. The NBA All-Star Weekend is an event, and I mean an event if you've never

spk_0 been to one, which I've never been. I just know people who are paid to go to those things,

spk_0 and they all say they're unbelievable events. So I take your word for it.

spk_0 There's no time. Do you know what's October right now?

spk_0 Koka, can I get a date for the All-Star Game, but I'll bet you a dollar it's in February.

spk_0 Just that's my hunch that the NBA All-Star Games in February. Am I close? He'll check.

spk_0 February 15th. November, December, January, February. That's only four months.

spk_0 You think they're going to start to identify a new place, secure all the hotels and

spk_0 convention center space required. Make sure the arena is available. Make sure that there's

spk_0 opportunities for all of the community events that happen around the All-Star Game for the photo

spk_0 ops with the commissioner and players and the owner of the team. And you think that they're

spk_0 going to put that together in a matter of four months. Forget about it.

spk_0 So here's what you do if you're the NBA. You pay attention to what I said, and then you do it,

spk_0 which is just make the investigation last past the All-Star Game. That's all you have to do.

spk_0 Because then you don't have to announce the findings of the investigation into the fact that

spk_0 the Clippers committed salary cap circumvention. You don't have to submit the report, read the

spk_0 report out loud or say there was no report and go full Roderick Adele. You can eliminate the

spk_0 distraction. You can come out right now and say we do not expect this investigation to be over

spk_0 in the short term. Number two, we are not moving the All-Star Game. Number three, if something comes

spk_0 up, we'll deal with it then. Now what do we mean by that? If Steve Balmer goes full Donald

spk_0 Sterling or full Marge shot, he's gone. It's measured in days. That's the prognosis. It's not

spk_0 measured in a fine suspension, a loss of draft picks, the voiding of a player contract. It is

spk_0 measured in how quickly you're out of the game. And then it doesn't matter that the All-Star Game

spk_0 is in Los Angeles. It doesn't matter what time of year it is. If you go full, Donald Sterling,

spk_0 Adam Silver will act and you'll be done. This financial impropriety that Steve Balmer has undertook

spk_0 to circumvent the salary cap, much of the dismay should grin and absolute ignorance of Mark Cuban.

spk_0 All of that is say we're talking about money, we're talking about politics, we're talking about

spk_0 collective bargaining. We are not talking life and death. We are not talking something that would

spk_0 make even a non-Basketball fans hair or sand on the back of their neck. We're not talking races

spk_0 and we're not talking hate. We're talking financial crime, which most people recognize exist and

spk_0 they don't really care all that much about. It's not like Clipper fans are standing up like

spk_0 Barça supporters and crying foul or Liverpool supporters and saying, sell the team, Mr. Hicks.

spk_0 Nicely, not so nice how they do it. So Adam Silver was forced into this position

spk_0 where he has to in advance tell the austral game is in moving because it's not and then he had

spk_0 to talk about the WNBA and the fight that's going on between Collier and the commissioner

spk_0 and the commissioner's office. As a quick reminder, we covered this last week,

spk_0 two weeks ago, we covered it before my two week break, I believe. There was a statement,

spk_0 a four-minute statement by WNBA player, a really good one about referees and about leadership

spk_0 about the commissioner basically saying the commissioner's terrible leadership is terrible

spk_0 and it's a nightmare. And then there was a rumor that the commissioner is going to lose her job

spk_0 and not to laugh through the collective bargaining negotiations. But now Adam Silver stood up.

spk_0 Adam Silver stood up and said,

spk_0 Hey Adam, there's no question that the WNBA is going through growing pains and it's unfortunate

spk_0 that it's coming just at their most important games, you know, they're in the finals and their

spk_0 finals are on right now. I'll bet you dollar you can't name the teams in the finals and what the

spk_0 score was of game one. Adam Silver said we've had two fantastic games so far. We want to

spk_0 celebrate the game.

spk_0 Kathy Engelberg has presided over historic growth in the league, but there's no question

spk_0 that there's issues that we need to address with our players.

spk_0 if he met them, the women players if he walked into a clubhouse. He would say, keep going.

spk_0 It turns out that those people who have are silenced and I see all of them right now and I

spk_0 haven't addressed them and I haven't touched them, but that one came through because it was family.

spk_0 I don't know what to do about that, Coco. You can't silence emergency bypass. That's all

spk_0 purpose of emergency bypass. And then I got to look and then I don't remember what I'm talking

spk_0 What do you think this decision is? I think he's going to retire. I think he's going to

spk_0 I've been sued for sure, but I would not call myself litigious. What I do love is looking at lawsuits,

spk_0 understanding them. I love it so much when people go to court,

spk_0 when they're doing it for PR reasons. Do you know, Coco, one of my favorite segments on the show

spk_0 is when we explain the John Groot and lawsuit against the NFL. And then we explained why people sue

spk_0 and then we explained how hard it is to settle a case when someone's not suing for money. They're

spk_0 suing for something else like fame, where they're suing to be made whole, not financially, but

spk_0 spiritually or in terms of curating or in terms of reputational hits that can take place, or

spk_0 sometimes it's just downright hatred. The John Groot and NFL lawsuit is continuing. We could be

spk_0 heading toward multiple stories about this in the coming days and weeks because the NFL has a

spk_0 real problem as I told you that they can't settle this case because Groot and won't settle

spk_0 and the courts aren't stopping this case from proceeding, which is going to make the NFL very angry.

spk_0 But I like lawsuits. Yesterday, the city of Cleveland did something. Hello, Cleveland.

spk_0 in Cleveland. Do you know what just happened? Your city. Are you living in the city of Cleveland?

spk_0 Are you thinking the decision is coming that LeBron James is coming back to the Cavaliers

spk_0 to end his career? The city of Cleveland has filed a special appeal, basically a lawsuit

spk_0 and they're filing it against the Ohio Department of Transportation. Cleveland is Sui No Hio.

spk_0 Cleveland, Ohio is Sui No Hio. It's an internal fight. It's like owner of the owner.

spk_0 Oh, I dig it because it means that something rotten is happening in the state of Ohio.

spk_0 And here's the backstory. And we you know about this.

spk_0 Do you remember that the city of Cleveland wanted the Browns to stay in the city of Cleveland,

spk_0 but the Browns now want to move to Brook Park, which is outside the city of Cleveland.

spk_0 And then the city of Cleveland said, wait a minute, Cleveland, you can't do that.

spk_0 There's something called the Modell Law and the Modell Law simply states that you are not

spk_0 allowed to move out of the city of Cleveland without giving people inside the city of Cleveland an

spk_0 opportunity to buy your team and get a deal done inside the city of Cleveland. And the Cleveland

spk_0 Browns ownership said, really, really, you think that I'm so dumb that I signed to Sean Watson for

spk_0 $230 million, but I don't pay attention to not violating the Modell Law. Wait, what was that again?

spk_0 I can't remember it. Jimmy's wife and child said, what was that?

spk_0 But they went forward with Brook Park and they're showing all this sort of thing.

spk_0 But they're building near an airport. I know about these things. Marlon's Park is built near

spk_0 Miami International Airport. We needed to get permission from the Florida Department of Transportation,

spk_0 the people who run the airport authority, the local governments because we needed to make sure

spk_0 that our ballpark was not in the flight plan. We needed to make sure that the height of the ballpark

spk_0 was not going to be a problem to flights because the home behold as much as you like your football and

spk_0 baseball and basketball and apple pie, flight plans, glide slopes happen to be more important.

spk_0 So cut to the Ohio Department of Transportation tells the Cleveland Brown, sorry, dude,

spk_0 you're trying to build a 221 foot stadium. That's too high. You're only allowed, basically,

spk_0 121 plus 42. You're allowed 163. I don't think that's right.

spk_0 It is right. 163. That's the law. You can go 163 feet above, but you can't go to 21.

spk_0 You're 58 feet too high. Your stadium can't be that high. Think about football stadiums and

spk_0 baseball dome stadiums. They have to be high enough that only Aaron Judge can hit the roof.

spk_0 You can't build one. We're all of a sudden there's a roof closed and then some guy punts it

spk_0 or one of those 50 yard field goals or one of those bombs by any quarterback now is in danger of

spk_0 hitting the roof. It's a thing. So guess what? The Ohio Department of Transportation said,

spk_0 sorry, no go. Then out of nowhere on September 18th, the Ohio Department of Transportation said

spk_0 that the stadium will exceed the federal height limits, but granted a waiver

spk_0 after concluding the project would not alter flight operations at Cleveland's airport.

spk_0 So all of a sudden, wouldn't you know it? That when permits were not going to be granted for

spk_0 211 foot high stadium. The Ohio Department of Transportation said, you know what? Change my mind.

spk_0 We'll give you an exception. So the city of Cleveland decided today, or this is yesterday,

spk_0 here's what we're going to do. We're suing them because we're saying how can that be? How can it be

spk_0 that you are willing to give an exception now? And we're talking safety. We're talking the public

spk_0 good and that's how much you're trying to screw the city of Cleveland. It's the greatest argument of all.

spk_0 The city of Cleveland is arguing the Ohio Department of Transportation is ready for death and

spk_0 destruction as long as Jimmy has them can keep having the opportunity to sign to Sean Watson. It's

spk_0 brilliant. Now the city of Cleveland is putting their foot in the sand saying the Jimmy has them

spk_0 and the Browns, you think we're going down? You think we're going to stop at the Modella? We're

spk_0 going to try to get you everywhere. We're going to get you with permitting. You may not need it. We're

spk_0 going to try. We're going to figure out on game days how to make it the no one from the city of

spk_0 Cleveland leaving get to your games. Do you care? Maybe not. We're going to make sure that you can't

spk_0 get camera angles because every single home game, we're going to make sure that we're dropping

spk_0 fart bombs all over the tailgators. Who knows what the city of Cleveland can do in terms of the

spk_0 level of penniness? But this appeal against the Department of Transportation, how do you think it's

spk_0 going to go? The city of Cleveland would have to go in and say, sorry folks, I don't think the

spk_0 Department of Transportation understood you can't have a stadium that high and they're going to show

spk_0 like model airplanes in the glide slope landing at Hopkins International Airport and like landing

spk_0 on one foot, one wing or one wheel. Is that what they're going to go into court and say,

spk_0 or are they going to wedge some sort of side deal? You got to love those. What exactly does

spk_0 Haslam promise you because I know what he promised me? He promised me $28 million over four years

spk_0 on a no-show deal where they don't even have to do commercials for the city of Cleveland Commerce

spk_0 Department chamber. God, that would have been so smooth. That just would have been a chef's kiss if

spk_0 I had nailed it. Stick the landing, Samson. We'll see how that lawsuit goes. I have my own feeling now

spk_0 it's going to go. I want to end with something that's been bothering all of you and Coke and I

spk_0 talked about it. I don't remember when, Coke, when did you and I talk about World Cup ticket prices?

spk_0 Was it just last Friday, like four days ago, when you were so angry that you're being priced out

spk_0 of every game possible? Well, do you know that now if you just would fly back home to where you live in

spk_0 Florida, if you can't afford a World Cup game and you have no interest in seeing Messy, I don't

spk_0 know why you'd have no interest in his new ballpark in a deal that's not yet announced but

spk_0 clearly clearly done according to all reports, you have a chance to go watch a league game.

spk_0 How cool is that that you can watch in Miami at Barcelona game? Why wouldn't you want to do it?

spk_0 Forget Camp New, you don't have to do it. Well, this is actually a far bigger deal than I'm making it

spk_0 and I'm purposely making my voice very calm, very monotone-like because you waif it did something that

spk_0 makes me laugh so hard that we wanted to just top it. You can't top this. Have you ever made a decision

spk_0 where right after the decision you regret it? Let me try to put that in words that we can all understand.

spk_0 How often have you made a decision that right away you look and you say, oh, probably shouldn't have done

spk_0 that? Or you open your eyes in the morning and say, oh, not what I expected. Or you show up to work

spk_0 the next day and you say, hmm, didn't think that was my job. Or you walk into a restaurant or a movie

spk_0 or a trip, myriad things. Make a decision and then comes the regret. How much time is there between

spk_0 the decision and the regret? Aren't you trying to get the most time possible so you could have at

spk_0 least some time with the decision where you are in favor of the decision you made? How often you make

spk_0 a decision in the next second? There's got to be, I mean, listen, some people are two seconds, but

spk_0 generally there's time between decision and regret. Not you, AFA. You AFA approved a landmark move here.

spk_0 There are European leagues like the Spanish La Liga who are now going to be allowed on a case-by-case

spk_0 basis to play games away from the domestic site of their teams. It's not just Miami, there's going to be

spk_0 a game in Perth, Australia between Milan and Como. So the question is, when Barcelona shows up to Miami,

spk_0 how many Barcelona fans will join them? Will fans travel the way Packers fans travel or Cowboys fan

spk_0 or Niners fans? Does La Liga care? No. Do you think Roger Gidele is interested in how many people

spk_0 fly to watch Jacksonville from Jacksonville playing London? He may say he does, but he doesn't.

spk_0 Where Roger Gidele cares about is that people from London, people from Paris, people from Bartholona

spk_0 people from Milan, people from Berlin, they fly to see the games because he's trying to build the sport

spk_0 in Europe, all of Europe. Those are the people he wants. La Liga is doing what they should be doing.

spk_0 They are looking for alternate sources of revenue. They are looking for ways to expand the

spk_0 reach of their game in a way that you may argue they don't need to expand the reach of their game.

spk_0 We love the game of soccer here in the United States, but that doesn't put money in the pockets of

spk_0 the Liga and the teams. Do you think Stephen Ross is getting this game for free?

spk_0 Do you think the teams are not getting paid extra money? And I mean a lot to play this game

spk_0 in Miami? It's a straight move to add current day dollars to the pockets of these teams.

spk_0 And then on top of that, build a base that isn't just confined to an area. The MLA does want to do it.
