Hey, what's up everybody? It's nobody else. It's a Desyn Care offers my props running.
spk_0
Wait, let me try that again. Nobody asked us with Desyn Care presented my props running.
spk_0
Deso, are you?
spk_0
Sounds painful. It sounds like knives on the throat and the vocal cord.
spk_0
I'm good. Let's just dig right in. Is this karaoke voice or is this what's what happened here?
spk_0
Okay, well truthfully, yes, we could go.
spk_0
Introduce yourself because I think people are probably like who's who's the guest?
spk_0
My name is Care.
spk_0
I'm Desyn's sidekick.
spk_0
So last week we were going to record and we decided to wait and I was like, it's probably good because my voice, I lost my voice basically doing karaoke.
spk_0
I mean, I, I was so obnoxious and we can get into that if you want, but like I didn't even need a microphone.
spk_0
Everyone was like, good God, Goucher.
spk_0
Shut her down.
spk_0
But I think I've been like fighting something since I've been back.
spk_0
In like Saturday, I was like, oh, I finally feel better. I'm not going to get sick.
spk_0
And then Saturday night we went to the CEO football game and got a home late.
spk_0
And then like it was really loud because we were literally on the field like the seats were amazing.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
And then I got up super early.
spk_0
I slept only a few hours and got up early to go to Boulder Thund and then I was like, you know, revving the crowd up.
spk_0
And then I got home and I was like, no, I'm sick.
spk_0
It's official.
spk_0
I'm tired.
spk_0
I'm actually really tired and do not feel well.
spk_0
So yeah, that's the voice now.
spk_0
It's not from karaoke anymore.
spk_0
All right.
spk_0
So it's been a, it's been a whirlwind for the vocals.
spk_0
Yeah, it's a good thing I'm not singing.
spk_0
It's a goodness.
spk_0
This is after the announcing.
spk_0
Yeah, yeah, that was so bad.
spk_0
Never take me to karaoke before a meet.
spk_0
For sure.
spk_0
What's the protocol for that, do you know if there, if you showed up to an NBC call and you're, hey guys.
spk_0
I feel like I'm under the weather.
spk_0
I don't think that I could call race like this because especially if I get like excited or something.
spk_0
I mean, but the thing that complaints people get is they can say I'm like annoying and I sound sure this would like definitely be annoying.
spk_0
I hate that.
spk_0
I actually feel like any woman who does a broadcast that gets excited is like you sound shrill.
spk_0
I know it's like such as comment being excited.
spk_0
It's just like, isn't he?
spk_0
Do the same job as the man.
spk_0
Yeah, but you know, whatever.
spk_0
But anyway, yeah.
spk_0
So.
spk_0
So what would they do?
spk_0
Do you think that they would just make Paul do the whole show?
spk_0
I think that.
spk_0
I think maybe Trey would step in train.
spk_0
Trey.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
He steps in when like when world indoors when my mom wasn't well, something like that.
spk_0
So he would like, Trey really because he was a decafee, he can kind of step into anything.
spk_0
Yeah, if he had to.
spk_0
Yeah, so he probably fired up.
spk_0
Yeah, he'd be like, all right.
spk_0
Let's go.
spk_0
Be careful.
spk_0
Make sure he's not sabotaging you at any point.
spk_0
Oh, seriously.
spk_0
He's going to ruin my voice.
spk_0
Yeah, he stepped in like diamond league a couple of years ago.
spk_0
I was like, where's my like when am I doing diamond league?
spk_0
And they were like, ah, Trey's going to call the distance.
spk_0
So it would be fine.
spk_0
Thanks.
spk_0
Cool.
spk_0
So yeah.
spk_0
Well, besides that, how is our reentry been any any good, any struggles, any what's what's been like?
spk_0
How's the flight home?
spk_0
The flight home was fine.
spk_0
I said, yeah, it was.
spk_0
You can get over served like on the way over.
spk_0
I didn't drink on the way home.
spk_0
Just sweating it off.
spk_0
Okay, so the night before the night before the last night of the meet, verse, you know, a bunch of awesome races, which we'll dig into a little bit.
spk_0
And then I think I had mentioned on the pod that we were going to go do karaoke after.
spk_0
And I was like, I don't know.
spk_0
I don't know if I'll do it.
spk_0
I'm imagining like in the movies when you go in and it's a giant room.
spk_0
They're all small tiny little rooms.
spk_0
And so we go into the first one and there's like seven people in there.
spk_0
And I'm like, oh hell no, and Trey's like, this isn't our spot.
spk_0
I can feel it.
spk_0
This isn't our spot.
spk_0
So we go to the next spot and it has people at the bar and then it has like a sofa.
spk_0
And he's like, oh, this is our spot.
spk_0
And he was right.
spk_0
We were there for like three hours.
spk_0
But you know, it's very intimate.
spk_0
You know, it's not like you can like sing and hide in the background or anything.
spk_0
Singing for your friends.
spk_0
Yeah, like you're just belting it out in front of everyone.
spk_0
So I was like, I don't know if I can do this.
spk_0
And I got to tell you, okay, Bill Spalding is not new to NBC.
spk_0
But he's new to our broadcast team.
spk_0
And he did a phenomenal job.
spk_0
Like we're not the easy, like we're friendly, but we have really high standards.
spk_0
And he just came right in, crushed it out of the park.
spk_0
And just super polite the whole time.
spk_0
And like he and I went to go find Kit Katz for our kids because that's all his kids wanted to.
spk_0
But we get there and he's like, I'll sing first.
spk_0
And I'm like, okay, he's going for it.
spk_0
He's going for it aggressive.
spk_0
I like it.
spk_0
Bill Spalding just grabs the mic and builds out pink pony club.
spk_0
It was like so iconic.
spk_0
It just like set the tune.
spk_0
Like the whole tune was set.
spk_0
It was like, oh, we're doing this.
spk_0
Like we are all happening.
spk_0
He crushed it.
spk_0
He sang so many songs and he was the one that kicked us off.
spk_0
Because you know, we get there and you're like, yeah, I'm not starting.
spk_0
And you're like, everyone's actually going to hear you.
spk_0
And then, you know, when I have a few drinks, I really love to like sing and dance.
spk_0
And so at one point, swangard Paul is like, gouge your god.
spk_0
You're so loud.
spk_0
I don't even have the mic.
spk_0
And I'm singing louder than the person.
spk_0
I'm like, oh, but anyway, it was so fun.
spk_0
And big time cheers to Bill Spalding who kicked it off and kept coming back with all these songs
spk_0
I would never guess that he would sing.
spk_0
And he just crushed it.
spk_0
What was the most challenging song that was done?
spk_0
Like, when he was like, Michael Jackson, like, come on, that's crazy, right?
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
Like that anyone saying in general.
spk_0
Mariah Carey.
spk_0
You're like, no, sit this one out.
spk_0
Like, stop.
spk_0
Okay.
spk_0
So like, I love this song, Gloria by Linda Ronsett.
spk_0
The nobody knows it.
spk_0
It's like an old song.
spk_0
I don't even know if it's by Linda Ronsett.
spk_0
It's on my playlist.
spk_0
Anyway, we picked it and it turns out I can't sing it for you.
spk_0
Like, my song is the worst when you realize like, you don't know the lyrics at all.
spk_0
I'm not a soprano.
spk_0
Like, we can't play it.
spk_0
And they're like, it's Tara.
spk_0
Tara.
spk_0
And it turns out like, I actually can't sing it at all because I sing it at my car with
spk_0
those music so loud.
spk_0
I'm pretty good in there.
spk_0
spk_0
It's just kind of a fail.
spk_0
But I don't know.
spk_0
It was actually amazing.
spk_0
Everyone sang like Pulse Wong, Garts sang piano, man, Kevin Sailor sang.
spk_0
Oh, and in Charlotte, like, they just crushed it, tracing a bunch.
spk_0
And it was so much fun.
spk_0
We're chasing.
spk_0
spk_0
Kimi, you're crazy.
spk_0
He's saying so many songs.
spk_0
Like, we seriously sing for hours.
spk_0
But he's saying, I remember one that he was very animated.
spk_0
Well, animated.
spk_0
He's saying, um, matchbox 20, is it push, push you around or whatever?
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
Oh, he was like animated in it.
spk_0
It was so.
spk_0
Yeah, it was so great.
spk_0
And speaking of trade, you know how the night ended?
spk_0
Okay, it's like 245.
spk_0
And he's like, I'm hungry.
spk_0
I need food right now.
spk_0
And he just left.
spk_0
He's left.
spk_0
spk_0
We're like, we have to find trade food.
spk_0
Must get him food now.
spk_0
He's like a toddler.
spk_0
All of a sudden, he was like, I'm so hungry.
spk_0
I can't do this anymore.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
That's kind of amazing.
spk_0
Yeah, it was great.
spk_0
Such like an athlete at heart still.
spk_0
He's like, no, no.
spk_0
Yeah, he's like, no, really.
spk_0
I can't.
spk_0
I have to eat.
spk_0
So he walked across the street to like a family mart and came out with like all of this food.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
But anyway, it was super fun.
spk_0
But I did not feel so great.
spk_0
Like I was texting with Adam at 330 and he's like, what are you doing?
spk_0
And I'm like, I just got back to my room and he's like, why are you awake?
spk_0
So I got you packed like three days earlier.
spk_0
I know, I know.
spk_0
I didn't feel great on the way back.
spk_0
But the flight was way quicker than the way there.
spk_0
And they made up some time.
spk_0
And I took like two, two hour naps and it was fine.
spk_0
Nice.
spk_0
But you were in, I was out in Noreda.
spk_0
And then I was getting texts from people saying, you should be over here.
spk_0
Des is here and everyone's hanging out.
spk_0
So tell me about your lounge experience.
spk_0
It was short.
spk_0
It was first of all, Noreda was fine.
spk_0
But Haneda was off the chains.
spk_0
It was so cool.
spk_0
There was like the club was fantastic.
spk_0
Nice.
spk_0
You have to fly.
spk_0
You flew into the wrong airport.
spk_0
Yeah, it's okay.
spk_0
But you're also, you're not an adult.
spk_0
I'm not.
spk_0
I know.
spk_0
I would have brought, I would have brought you in.
spk_0
But that's besides the point.
spk_0
They had a donut wall.
spk_0
Wow.
spk_0
They had noodles to order.
spk_0
Obviously, I don't know if your club had this, but like the perfect poured beer.
spk_0
Like you just pressed a button and just heard it before.
spk_0
Oh yeah, it has like a thing, like a vending machine or no, no, like a drink machine,
spk_0
like a, like a soda machine.
spk_0
What do I mean when you go and you press the button?
spk_0
Yeah, but it does the tilt and just like, yeah.
spk_0
And then it puts the top on it.
spk_0
Okay.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
Well, I didn't actually try it because I was suffering.
spk_0
Yeah, yeah.
spk_0
But um, okay.
spk_0
It was amazing.
spk_0
It was busy in there.
spk_0
I heard that it was like everybody, like athletes, you, everybody was there.
spk_0
I was a scene.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
And it was like two people.
spk_0
Were you talking to people?
spk_0
Um, I didn't even realize it was such a scene.
spk_0
I just sat down and then I was like, oh, holy shit.
spk_0
Like everybody's in here.
spk_0
So people would pass by and be like, oh, hey, how's it going?
spk_0
Like, and yeah, you could just look around and that was, it was a who's who of the World
spk_0
Championship track, which was pretty cool.
spk_0
That is cool.
spk_0
I mean, I'm definitely like put a hood on and be like, shocking.
spk_0
I'm shocked by this.
spk_0
But I talked to my favorites.
spk_0
I got to chat with Paul for a little bit.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
Sat Shreye.
spk_0
Shreye was on my flight.
spk_0
Um, yeah.
spk_0
So it was, it was fine.
spk_0
And the flight was, it was quicker, obviously.
spk_0
And I slept for a lot of it, which I was really pleased about because yeah.
spk_0
How's the sleep in since you got back?
spk_0
Um, I wish it were better, but I would say it's, oh, she's coughing.
spk_0
It's on the like heavy side of sleep instead of like, I can't get sleep.
spk_0
So it's like, I'll go to bed at 10 and then want to sleep until like 930 10, which you're
spk_0
like, get your ass out of bed.
spk_0
Yeah, but your body needs it.
spk_0
But exactly like I'm like, I need it.
spk_0
And then mid day when it's like, you know, one in the morning over there, I'm like, I
spk_0
need a nap too.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
So it's been a lot of sleep.
spk_0
I've been, uh, I've been snuggling up with my lagoon quite a bit.
spk_0
And then I missed, I should have brought the travel one on that trip.
spk_0
That was a big miss because I don't like, I didn't, I mean, you're adjusting to the
spk_0
time there too, but I never really slept the way I would at home.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
If I had the travel pillow, which has been a little bit of a happier camper over there.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
I would map it to be back with my big poofy lagoon otter.
spk_0
All 17 otters wrapped around you.
spk_0
Just like, hold me up.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
I was very happy to have my pillow again.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
Well, and I think that's such a big thing like recovery on these things is key and like
spk_0
having the pillow super helpful, all the little things that you do.
spk_0
But like, even with training, trying to get back into it, I was really conservative.
spk_0
And then I like actually took a day off because I was like, I just, I know I'm behind.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
And then even when you think you're ready, like, I'm going to take a day or two more before
spk_0
I do a quality day.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
And I did a good long run yesterday and one today.
spk_0
And I'm not a piece of shit.
spk_0
Like they're actually back.
spk_0
You did back long run.
spk_0
I did.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
Give her a you.
spk_0
So recovery.
spk_0
Sorry, I know you want to like move on, but no, I need no more detail.
spk_0
No, recovery with the lagoon is good to me.
spk_0
It's good.
spk_0
We love lagoon.
spk_0
But tell me about these two back-to-back long run.
spk_0
What did I do yesterday?
spk_0
I did 20.
spk_0
I did three mile warm up and then did three by three miles.
spk_0
I was like, just do a workout.
spk_0
Like start at six minute pace and then see what you get down to.
spk_0
But I was like 540, 540s and the first one 540s and then like 530s by the second, the
spk_0
third set.
spk_0
So that was quality.
spk_0
And then I did a six mile cooldown.
spk_0
And then today I wanted to get 25 miles in.
spk_0
I got 21 in like my hamstrings are barking a little bit.
spk_0
And I've been trying these new shoes that I think I really like them, but they're like
spk_0
just something you have to get used to.
spk_0
And I feel like that where they're really showing up is in my hamstrings and my at bins.
spk_0
I'm like, okay, this is a lot of like stabilizing.
spk_0
I have to actually put somewhere I work in them.
spk_0
So I think that's part of it.
spk_0
And there's just like, I'm not going to get injured today.
spk_0
So you do a double tonight to hit 25 or you're just good with the back to back good quality
spk_0
line.
spk_0
I think though, I think the two long runs will be it.
spk_0
I don't think I'm going to force the 25.
spk_0
And when you do three by three mile, are you like a mile float in the middle?
spk_0
Like what's your recovery in the middle?
spk_0
Yeah, one mile in one mile in the middle.
spk_0
And it's like, I think I was like seven 20s.
spk_0
You know, okay.
spk_0
So I was I actually find you a noine.
spk_0
I was I'm sorry.
spk_0
And I was talking to this guy and he was asking about you.
spk_0
And I was like, Oh, she's going to do this 50 mileer.
spk_0
And then I was like, you know what she said?
spk_0
She said, what did you say?
spk_0
You were like, well, the world record is like six 30s.
spk_0
So six 38, six 38s.
spk_0
And I was like, I can do that for a five anymore.
spk_0
I was like, I love her.
spk_0
But also I hate her.
spk_0
Like the fact that you just sit three by three mile coming off of Tokyo and all that
spk_0
does ask like it was hard there, right?
spk_0
And you got you're running five 35 is like, dude, cheerste you.
spk_0
You are like a fitness queen.
spk_0
It's just like old woman strength.
spk_0
You got to.
spk_0
Yeah, it's it's used to lose it.
spk_0
And that's why I'm like doing it because I feel like as soon as I stop doing
spk_0
workouts or like even now I'm like, I don't even want to try a workout
spk_0
because it's going to suck.
spk_0
That was a good workout though.
spk_0
It was.
spk_0
I was wasn't like surprised.
spk_0
But I'm always like afraid after taking a break or like just doing my
spk_0
Ledge for a while.
spk_0
I'm like, I don't even want to do a workout because it's going to be so shit.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
So I get that.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
But also like I feel like I have, we'll see what happens.
spk_0
I mean, obviously I miss a big chunk in Tokyo and we'll see what the goal is.
spk_0
But I'm talking about it like it's going to be not not like it's going to be a slam
spk_0
dunk, but like I have the goal.
spk_0
And this is the whole thing.
spk_0
But it's it's going to be competitive.
spk_0
It's a US championship.
spk_0
And the woman who has the world record in one last year is in the race.
spk_0
So I'm sure she's not like, oh, I hope I run the same.
spk_0
It was lost your right like she's trying to run super well as well.
spk_0
So it should be if I can get my shit together in these next couple of weeks, it should be
spk_0
a good race.
spk_0
I think you're going to be good.
spk_0
Like you have another five, six weeks to go.
spk_0
And like that those back to back sessions are really good.
spk_0
I know it has been on your back.
spk_0
You're back your focus.
spk_0
I know.
spk_0
Well, you have a little bit of travel.
spk_0
You can travel.
spk_0
I know.
spk_0
But I feel like this was encouraging.
spk_0
I'm like, okay, I didn't lose everything.
spk_0
I'm actually in a good spot.
spk_0
And I'm healthy.
spk_0
And like I just got to be consistent.
spk_0
Okay.
spk_0
I want to go back to one other thing you said.
spk_0
You said you're trying not a new shoe.
spk_0
It was barking at your hand.
spk_0
Measier your hand.
spk_0
Measier were barking.
spk_0
And so like, what would you tell people that are trying like want to wear a new shoe?
spk_0
You have to, I just like what you were talking about.
spk_0
I need to put more time in it, right?
spk_0
You can't just go out and wear it the first time when you're trying to race.
spk_0
Well, especially these, I mean,
spk_0
any shoe for sure, it's like the 101, nothing new on race day.
spk_0
So yeah, but also like you don't want to do your afternoon runs only like get the experience
spk_0
of like your long run, but also build up to that.
spk_0
So you're not getting injured or you can see like what you need to strengthen
spk_0
or if it makes sense, like how it fits after 20 miles is going to be different
spk_0
than how it feels when it starts.
spk_0
But yeah, particularly with the plated shoes and the stacks, like stabilizing
spk_0
and like the like propulsion, like where that like,
spk_0
where you're feeling it, that explosiveness, like it's all very different.
spk_0
So you have to put some time in them and yeah, it's such another thing to adapt to
spk_0
like practicing your fueling and time on feed and yet get your shoes right.
spk_0
Yeah, you don't want to wear a new shoe for the first time in a 50 mile.
spk_0
I've like, I've done back to back 20 now and I'm still like, I don't, I don't know.
spk_0
Yeah, and like crazy stuff pops up.
spk_0
Like I would, I'm in a unique spot where I just write a list and I'm like,
spk_0
Hey, can you fix this, this, this and this?
spk_0
And maybe they will, maybe they won't, but they'll take the feedback seriously.
spk_0
But like when I fatigue, I'll kick the inside of my calf a little bit.
spk_0
Like it kind of grazes it, but this kind of, this shoe has like a little, like,
spk_0
flare on it.
spk_0
Like it gets you.
spk_0
I have some massive bruises on my calf.
spk_0
And it's just, it doesn't hurt.
spk_0
It's not a big deal.
spk_0
But like after, you know, 42 miles, right.
spk_0
That could be a problem.
spk_0
Right.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
So it's little things like that that you want to know beforehand.
spk_0
And makes me feel better that shit like that happens to you because
spk_0
I when I was an alter, they had a pair of shoes and I liked them so much, but it had like,
spk_0
the base was like flared out a little and I would always hit my right foot,
spk_0
would always hit my left, like ankle bone.
spk_0
And it was so bad.
spk_0
I feel like I'm gonna throw up like that's how bad it hurts because we're just like nail it.
spk_0
And I'm like, yeah, what does this happen to?
spk_0
But I'm like, I have to like pad my left ankle
spk_0
because my right shoe is going to take me out.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
I was I showed right and I was like, look at that bruise.
spk_0
And yesterday he didn't see it.
spk_0
He was like, she's dumping a bitch.
spk_0
And then today I was like, look at that bruise.
spk_0
And he was like, well, yeah, you know, a lower ospery there.
spk_0
That's the two.
spk_0
Oh goodness.
spk_0
Okay.
spk_0
Boys.
spk_0
Well, should we talk about the last track in Tokyo?
spk_0
I think we have to.
spk_0
I mean, I think we, I think we have to.
spk_0
Mainly, well, one, it was awesome.
spk_0
But two, cheers to you.
spk_0
Kara, Nostradamus, Doucher, that 800 prediction, the 800 call of the women's was chef's kiss.
spk_0
You know, it's funny.
spk_0
And nailed it.
spk_0
When we were calling the race, we were going through all of the women.
spk_0
And I wanted to say about Adira, like, I have a feeling she's gonna do really well tonight.
spk_0
And then we just kind of got behind.
spk_0
And so I never got to say that about her.
spk_0
But I don't know.
spk_0
Sometimes I just have like, like these gut reactions.
spk_0
And that was fun.
spk_0
And then it nailed.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
No, it was awesome.
spk_0
I texted you like immediately after like, oh my god.
spk_0
How did you do that?
spk_0
Is it, is it scripted?
spk_0
Is this rigged?
spk_0
Did you put any money on that?
spk_0
I should have.
spk_0
I should have.
spk_0
Like, I don't know.
spk_0
I was arguing because he was like, Keely is the most she vet.
spk_0
Other than Cindy McLaughlin, like, she's, or other than Famke Bull.
spk_0
And I was like, no way.
spk_0
She's obviously run really, and he's like, she's run a certain fast within everyone.
spk_0
And I was like, it doesn't matter.
spk_0
It's like, I'm, and I'm not voting against Keely at all.
spk_0
It's just like she was super unknown coming in.
spk_0
And she didn't look the, the, the, the round that made me feel like she was vulnerable
spk_0
was the semi.
spk_0
But she just didn't look super comfortable.
spk_0
And there were people around her and she got past.
spk_0
And so I was just like, I don't think she's going to win.
spk_0
I think it's going to be Hunter Bell or Odira.
spk_0
Like that's, I just feel like they look better.
spk_0
Like Hunter Bell is always holding back.
spk_0
And Adira just looked like in the semi.
spk_0
She just came through so easy.
spk_0
He was like, you're crazy.
spk_0
And then afterwards, he's like, you were right.
spk_0
You were right.
spk_0
Good money.
spk_0
But it was such a crazy race.
spk_0
I mean, they were out in 55.
spk_0
55 is unreal.
spk_0
And the, yeah, like, Jess Hall was way out the back.
spk_0
And then when we saw there at 55, I'm like, well, that's why you know,
spk_0
she's still run.
spk_0
She's still running.
spk_0
She's six or 27, but she's just back.
spk_0
And then it was just crazy.
spk_0
Like Mary Maraud just took it so hard.
spk_0
And then she faded down the home stretch.
spk_0
It was like perfect for Keely to move in.
spk_0
But she hadn't, Hunter Bell was right there in my eyes or under the whole time.
spk_0
And then on the outside, Adira just comes charging down.
spk_0
Like, bye.
spk_0
Thanks.
spk_0
Thanks for sending it up for me.
spk_0
Do you feel like there was plan team taxate tactics?
spk_0
Or do you think that that just shook out that way?
spk_0
Like I'm helping you.
spk_0
You're not helping me.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
I think Mary Maraud runs really well from the front.
spk_0
And I think that Adira, I've never seen her race from the front.
spk_0
So I think like she is just a closer.
spk_0
So I think it's just the way.
spk_0
I mean, at 200 when they work trying to cut in at the very beginning,
spk_0
Keely was trying to get the lead in Mary Maraud.
spk_0
I was like, nothing's not to that.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
And so I think that maybe like shook Keely a little bit
spk_0
because she probably wanted to control it more.
spk_0
But I don't know.
spk_0
I mean, like that was crazy.
spk_0
The eight hundred and men's and women's were so fast.
spk_0
I mean, Sage heard it like around one fifty five.
spk_0
She was fit.
spk_0
What if she's alive?
spk_0
I feel like that like what maybe didn't get talked about enough
spk_0
because it was just like across the board.
spk_0
Like what did we just see?
spk_0
I can't believe this upset.
spk_0
But what a run from her.
spk_0
Yes.
spk_0
I'm so happy for her.
spk_0
Like that she becomes the third fastest American of all time behind a thing
spk_0
Mo Nikolaiov and Ajay Wilson.
spk_0
And I loved her interviews the whole time.
spk_0
She was like, I don't know when I'll make a team again.
spk_0
Like I just have to take advantage.
spk_0
I want to see how far I can get.
spk_0
And I mean, she made it into the final on time.
spk_0
Like she didn't have a secure spot.
spk_0
And then she just made the most of it.
spk_0
She just fought all the way to the finish.
spk_0
She's like awesome.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
And that's that's her first world championship.
spk_0
Yes.
spk_0
Or one and only.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
Right.
spk_0
So if she just crushed it, you talk about some folks who are like, well,
spk_0
they need the experience around the younger side.
spk_0
They're figuring it out.
spk_0
You got to get through the rounds and like that's if you have that trajectory of
spk_0
like, well, I'm younger and I'm going to have a few more bites at the apple.
spk_0
Right.
spk_0
And a really great example of someone who's like, okay, I've tried a few times.
spk_0
It's really hard to make these teams.
spk_0
It's not a given for me or any woman in the eight right now.
spk_0
So I have to make the most of it.
spk_0
I don't have like no more like I love that Jake Riley.
spk_0
Like no more next time.
spk_0
No more next time.
spk_0
And like that's that's what that seemed like that mentality.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
She even said like if she hadn't made the team in the eight hundred this year,
spk_0
she was going to be done with the eight hundred and move to the 15.
spk_0
And now she's like, well, maybe I should stay.
spk_0
I just want to see what she gets at this and fit in the world.
spk_0
So it turns out I might want to stay.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
That'll that'll do it.
spk_0
And strange year on the American side in general.
spk_0
Just a lot of other groups.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
It it was weird for I mean.
spk_0
Yeah, just felt like a new arrival for some people.
spk_0
I don't feel like anyone like toly is like out out,
spk_0
but just some new arrivals and yeah.
spk_0
The women's age is always changing in the US.
spk_0
I feel like it's such a bit of the Olympic slump.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
For sure.
spk_0
But also you just it's like fresh young person's game.
spk_0
What do you think about that?
spk_0
Men's five.
spk_0
Um, so exciting.
spk_0
And you could see the end just like setting up with, you know, three to four laps to go.
spk_0
Everyone looked like there was just grimacing across the board.
spk_0
And there was one guy just look like very, very calm, cool, relaxed, like I'm just waiting.
spk_0
I'm just waiting.
spk_0
Um, and with three hundred you go, you're like, yeah, he's just, this is done.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
Like you just handed it to him on a platter, right?
spk_0
Like you didn't hurt him enough.
spk_0
My producer was like, what are the odds in American gets a medal in here?
spk_0
And I was like, very high.
spk_0
There's three men in the final.
spk_0
There's only one Kenny and I lead in the final.
spk_0
There's only two Ethiopian men in the final.
spk_0
There's three French men and three Americans like, you know, like it's just like when we put a lot of women in Boston,
spk_0
like the year you won.
spk_0
It's like if the year you want all of the major American stars were there.
spk_0
And I was, I was like, someone's going to win.
spk_0
That's what it takes to happen them all there.
spk_0
And that's how I felt.
spk_0
But I was like, but I've been burned because I was confident that with the men,
spk_0
we're going to win a medal in the 10, you know, and that's not on them.
spk_0
Or it's not like a dig on that.
spk_0
I just really thought they were.
spk_0
And so I was like, I'm not putting my heart into it.
spk_0
And he was like, who do you think has the best chance?
spk_0
And it was like they all do, you know?
spk_0
Right.
spk_0
But I was like, but if they have not shaken Hawker with 600 to go, it's his.
spk_0
And he, he doesn't matter what place he's in because after they kept going 12th,
spk_0
the first.
spk_0
And I'm like, it's the distance.
spk_0
If he's within, you know, 10 meters, it's over.
spk_0
They haven't done enough.
spk_0
And he just ran a super clean race.
spk_0
He never went to the front.
spk_0
Each state on the rail.
spk_0
There was like changing going on at front.
spk_0
Grant Fisher really tried to string it out.
spk_0
I appreciated that.
spk_0
Nico went to the front.
spk_0
Like they did their best to like damage the field.
spk_0
But the field was just just stayed.
spk_0
It was incredible to watch that.
spk_0
Many guys just locked in together.
spk_0
And I was thinking about this as I was watching it where like there's a shift in
spk_0
quality of who you're racing.
spk_0
Where at some point you can tuck on the back and that's okay.
spk_0
Like that's a good position.
spk_0
Like I'm just going to be in last and just sit back here.
spk_0
And you're not going to miss the break.
spk_0
Right.
spk_0
Like when you're in college or NCAA things like that,
spk_0
there's three different groups of ability.
spk_0
And in this thing, it was just so clumped up.
spk_0
It's like, yeah, just sit on the back.
spk_0
And then slowly work your way up for the big move.
spk_0
But it wasn't going to like splinter and be strung out.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
You could tell early on.
spk_0
It was kind of it was interesting.
spk_0
It was like Grant went to the front and Nico too.
spk_0
And they pushed it and held it out of honest pace.
spk_0
Like at around 13 minute pace, which is really,
spk_0
I mean, eight years ago, that would have been like crazy to run that at a championship.
spk_0
But now things are a little bit quicker.
spk_0
But I thought they did a good job of like trying to wear people out a little bit.
spk_0
But it just wasn't quite enough.
spk_0
Like no one, it didn't really kill anyone off.
spk_0
You know what I mean?
spk_0
Right.
spk_0
And I was pumped when Inga Britson went to the front because I was like,
spk_0
he will go to the front.
spk_0
I don't know what he'll do with it.
spk_0
He's not going to win.
spk_0
But I thought that was cool.
spk_0
That ended up being the slowest lap.
spk_0
But I did see at the bell, Nico Young was positioned really, really well.
spk_0
And I was like so confident that he or Cole Hocker were going to take a metal.
spk_0
But I thought I thought maybe Hocker would win and Nico would also metal.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
But I don't think Nico or Grant made any mistakes.
spk_0
It just is like, it's, they did well.
spk_0
They didn't, they ran so passively.
spk_0
I felt like in the 10,000 and in the 5,000, they did not run passively.
spk_0
They were like in it.
spk_0
They were helping make decisions.
spk_0
And so I don't think they did anything wrong.
spk_0
It's just, it wasn't enough to kill off Cole Hocker.
spk_0
Which is crazy because it was a sub 13 race, right?
spk_0
Yeah, it was 1258 for the win.
spk_0
Do you think Nico and Grant had a plan together?
spk_0
Do you think they were working together?
spk_0
Because it felt like they were like, hey, you take two.
spk_0
I take two.
spk_0
You take two.
spk_0
But do you think that just happened?
spk_0
Like, okay, this strategy is best for me too.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
And like, do you think they look back and go, man, we should have been more aggressive?
spk_0
So I, Paul asked me that while the race was happening live.
spk_0
And I was like, I don't know if they've talked to each other because I didn't ask them, you know?
spk_0
But they did say after that they briefly talked about it.
spk_0
And I think
spk_0
hindsight, hindsight's always 2020.
spk_0
But I do think they've both run 12, like,
spk_0
grants run 1244 indoors and he goes around 1245 outdoors.
spk_0
I think maybe with six laps to go, they start running 1245 pace.
spk_0
And maybe it splinters the pack a little bit more, you know?
spk_0
spk_0
But it's such a hard position.
spk_0
It's so hard.
spk_0
Yeah, your own kick.
spk_0
Yeah, you still want to be able to finish.
spk_0
Yeah, you don't want to be like, drag it down to six people.
spk_0
And then you end up getting out kicked, right?
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
So I've, I've liked how they raised so much more than the 10,000.
spk_0
I understand that the 10,000, it was so hot and they were like, I know I can kick,
spk_0
but I liked that they weren't passive.
spk_0
Like they were players in the game.
spk_0
It was a bummer that they finished outside of the medals.
spk_0
I think Grant was eighth.
spk_0
Maybe Nico was sixth.
spk_0
Fifth or sixth.
spk_0
I think Nico and Grant will be back.
spk_0
We know Grant's good.
spk_0
Obviously, he's been good for a long time.
spk_0
He has two medals.
spk_0
I do think Nico will medal at the next World Championship.
spk_0
Like he's just gathering information.
spk_0
Remember, he's just a couple, like two years out of college.
spk_0
You're a half out of college, you know?
spk_0
Do you think Grant feels any pressure to move up?
spk_0
I think he will now.
spk_0
I've watched all their interviews afterwards just because I like to like,
spk_0
put a cap on the season and know where they were their heads at.
spk_0
And, you know, he felt like it was, I wanted to like give him a hug because he's like,
spk_0
I don't know.
spk_0
Like I did everything I could and I just wasn't good enough, you know?
spk_0
But I think I would love to see him run a half in the next year and just dabble.
spk_0
spk_0
A Connor, Mance, Grant, Fisher, Half, Matchup.
spk_0
That would be good.
spk_0
It would be quite epic.
spk_0
It would be really good.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
I mean, it is, like when you start thinking about the half and the full,
spk_0
it's such a difference.
spk_0
It's a different sport, really.
spk_0
I think I would see it's closer than ever before.
spk_0
Like you could probably do some folds and so
spk_0
drop down to the 10 and be effective.
spk_0
But if you want to meddle,
spk_0
right, you're probably giving that up.
spk_0
If unless you're his son.
spk_0
I was actually eating humble pie because the fun is on prove does wrong.
spk_0
Unless you're her, but everybody else.
spk_0
No dabbling.
spk_0
I think it'll be interesting to see what athletes choose to do.
spk_0
Like I'm a big Elise Cranny fan.
spk_0
She's just looked a little tired this season for me.
spk_0
And afterwards they were like,
spk_0
well, are you going to run World Cross Country?
spk_0
It's in the United States.
spk_0
And she's like, I actually want to run the 1500.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
You know, and I think she should.
spk_0
I think she should.
spk_0
I think she should.
spk_0
Don't do World Cross just because it's in the US.
spk_0
Go do what excites you.
spk_0
And I think that next year would be a good year for someone like Grant
spk_0
to run a half and just just dabble.
spk_0
I mean, but remember, he ran the world record in the 3000 and the 5000.
spk_0
Just earlier this year.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
So I mean, it's, yeah, it's not like he's done, right?
spk_0
Like, kind of Britson has a lot of champs.
spk_0
And it's like, well, he sucks.
spk_0
And it's like, yeah, it's like, oh, that would change into the garden.
spk_0
Like, he would have searched.
spk_0
So to like basically not running to just like he was
spk_0
looked like a totally different athlete from the heat of the 1500 to the final of the five.
spk_0
I'm like, give him two more weeks.
spk_0
You're going to freaking won this thing.
spk_0
That's crazy.
spk_0
So it's hard to know, but I was super happy for Cole Hawker.
spk_0
I loved his interview after.
spk_0
And he talked about how he just like didn't do interviews after he got DQ.
spk_0
He just surrounded himself with family, people he cares about, and just like
spk_0
totally put all of his energy into the 5000.
spk_0
And yeah, I was so happy for him.
spk_0
I mean, like, I think, well, not everybody because people want to win themselves.
spk_0
But I think a lot of people are rooting for him, you know, after that DQ.
spk_0
I think so.
spk_0
And I think we talked about it earlier in the year.
spk_0
And you kind of said it a number of times.
spk_0
It was like, he put everything on this event.
spk_0
He was like, yes, I'm doing Grand Slam, but yes, I'm going to do a diamond league thing.
spk_0
But like, this was always circled as the big thing.
spk_0
And so I think he gets criticized for like not having the wins throughout the year.
spk_0
And so to not be able to go in the 15 and like fight for the thing he's been fighting for all
spk_0
year long, I mean, that could end you.
spk_0
But he did he regrouped and just put all the energy into the five.
spk_0
And it was nice to see.
spk_0
Yes, it's nice to see the reward.
spk_0
And it's, you don't want to pick favorites or things like that.
spk_0
But when things plan work out that way, it is, it feels good.
spk_0
I feel the same.
spk_0
I mean, we've talked about it on the pod.
spk_0
As you said, like, I just respect him.
spk_0
He knows his body.
spk_0
He can, he can't be at the top all year long.
spk_0
He puts all his eggs into one basket.
spk_0
And I really, really respect that he's able to like take his lumps throughout the year.
spk_0
I actually was able to, we DMed a little bit and I was able to tell him, like,
spk_0
I just really respect like he knows who he is.
spk_0
He knows what he's capable of and he doesn't care about what other people are going to say,
spk_0
you know, it's like he's freaking real champion.
spk_0
Like, what are you going to say?
spk_0
He nailed it.
spk_0
Right.
spk_0
You know, well, it was too warm.
spk_0
It doesn't.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
Oh, God.
spk_0
Please, but I was, I was really happy for him.
spk_0
And it felt, it felt good to see him be happy after that disappointment of the 15.
spk_0
So for sure.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
Do you think he would have won the 15?
spk_0
How'd he been in it?
spk_0
I, I do actually the way it was run and the way it came down to
spk_0
it was kind of like a almost like not a blanket finish, but they're all really close.
spk_0
Of course positioning is so much for no importance, you never know, but it seemed like that was set
spk_0
up for a perfect race for him to charge on the outside.
spk_0
And so we have to look at the tape and see if the inside opened up.
spk_0
Right, right.
spk_0
I don't think he'll ever make that mistake again, you know.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
I think that was like a he thought it was going to, it's not, you know, people,
spk_0
I've seen people criticize him and say, oh, he always thinks the inside is going to open up,
spk_0
but he doesn't.
spk_0
He's kicked on the outside before.
spk_0
He's kicked on the outside of Pete's sentiments at the Olympics who's going to the outside
spk_0
and he saw the inside open up.
spk_0
Right.
spk_0
But I do think he was a little bit comfortable thinking it was going to open up and it didn't happen.
spk_0
And I mean, I don't think he'll ever make that mistake again.
spk_0
Right.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
A little bit of a reality check.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
Did you see Josh Kerr came in and talked about what happened to him?
spk_0
I did.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
I didn't go back.
spk_0
I mean, I knew there was the little stumble in the in the semi's and it makes sense.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
You want to go ahead and break it down.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
I mean, I didn't go back and watch the race, but I he, he like, I cared what happened because
spk_0
it's like a Brooks athlete and I saw him for a second after and he like could barely put
spk_0
weight on his foot, you know.
spk_0
But he posted a few days ago and said that he tweaked his calf when he fell.
spk_0
And then he posted a picture of it the day after the semi and it was huge.
spk_0
That's wild.
spk_0
It was like ginormous.
spk_0
And then, but he said like with adrenaline and like he got work done on it,
spk_0
he was just thinking like I won't feel it and right.
spk_0
You know, and we've all been there, right?
spk_0
I have anyway, I've raised on injury and been like, I won't feel it and sometimes I don't
spk_0
and sometimes I do.
spk_0
But he said with like 600 to go, it just went and he said, like he and you had said,
spk_0
it was like super cool to see him finish, but you worry that maybe he did more damage and he
spk_0
said he did do more damage by finishing.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
There's no doubt.
spk_0
But I guess in the moment, you're like, let's just get across the line.
spk_0
Right.
spk_0
And also, I'm going to.
spk_0
All I have after this is time.
spk_0
Right.
spk_0
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
So the feeling of a DNF is, I don't know.
spk_0
It's haunting.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
Right?
spk_0
Like it just feels so bad.
spk_0
Like again, Erica Kemp and the marathon.
spk_0
I'm so glad that she finished it because it's eat.
spk_0
I mean, these are two totally different situations.
spk_0
But like Josh's was an injury that was out of his control.
spk_0
But Erica's was out of her control.
spk_0
Like she wasn't planning on feeling like crap, you know?
spk_0
Right.
spk_0
But it's like, I think it's in the moment really hard, but good to finish.
spk_0
Because it just the next time you've talked about that, it just gets easier and easier
spk_0
and things aren't going perfectly to just be like, well, I'm just going to both go hard.
spk_0
Oh, is this herders in an injury?
spk_0
Maybe I'm getting injured.
spk_0
Maybe I just, maybe I'm going to make it worse or you know, and you can talk yourself
spk_0
into that.
spk_0
And then I've known athletes that were like that that were amazing for like three years.
spk_0
And then how to drop out and then just kept dropping out because
spk_0
there was always this fear that or this thought like it needs to feel perfect.
spk_0
And it just feels like it's really, really, really, really hard to do.
spk_0
And it's rarely going to feel perfect.
spk_0
Right.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
I know.
spk_0
So there you go.
spk_0
All right.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
What a meat.
spk_0
It was a meat.
spk_0
Do you have any like favorite moments?
spk_0
Any, any highlight besides hanging out with me at the high-pouse?
spk_0
Well, obviously.
spk_0
I really loved calling the hundreds.
spk_0
I was like genuinely nervous about it.
spk_0
And I had a lot of fun.
spk_0
I don't normally get to work with auto in that capacity.
spk_0
So it was really fun to work with him and learn how he works with the people around him.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
I really love that.
spk_0
My producer at the show,
spk_0
how it started versus how it's going.
spk_0
Okay, we have a point of view.
spk_0
Cam, at the beginning of the meat, I was so upset after the men's 10,000.
spk_0
And I was like, I'm actually cursing.
spk_0
And then while Kyle Hawker was winning, I was like,
spk_0
Dan, seeing so that made me and everybody at NBC were laughing so hard.
spk_0
Like I just, I think everything's so personally.
spk_0
But I don't know.
spk_0
Yeah, it was fun to go over the high-pouse.
spk_0
I was exhausted, but it was so great.
spk_0
And it's like you're in this, just turning through it.
spk_0
And then you get home and you kind of miss the high of even that situation.
spk_0
spk_0
All right.
spk_0
So I saw Trey at the airport and he had like bags of stuff for his kids.
spk_0
He like, I have a whole checked-in bag full of candy for my kids.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
What did you buy?
spk_0
What did you buy?
spk_0
Would you get their best souvenir?
spk_0
Um, well, we all at the train.
spk_0
And Paul and I went together, took the train to this Don Quixote,
spk_0
which is like where you buy all the crazy different KitKats.
spk_0
So we all went there and got baskets, like grocery baskets,
spk_0
and just shoved them full of candy.
spk_0
And then they were getting like little stuffies because they have young kids.
spk_0
Yeah, yeah.
spk_0
And I was like, I don't know what cold.
spk_0
Like, I don't think he'd like that.
spk_0
And then I did get him a, do you know what LeBoubues are?
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
But I could come.
spk_0
Oh, okay.
spk_0
So cold asked for a LeBoubue for his birthday.
spk_0
Oh, how much did you pay for that?
spk_0
I'm not going to say.
spk_0
Just kidding.
spk_0
It wasn't that bad.
spk_0
But it was delayed and it's still not here.
spk_0
And so I got him like a little hello kitty thing.
spk_0
And I gave it to him as a LaFoufou like a fake LeBoubue.
spk_0
But and then I got him like these little cars.
spk_0
They had like a little matchbox, matchboxers.
spk_0
Because cold is like a teenager, but he's still a kid, right?
spk_0
spk_0
So yeah, I brought home like I think 10 different types of KitKats.
spk_0
Little cars in the LaFoufou, the fake LeBoubue.
spk_0
And it's been fun because Trey and Bill and I have a thread
spk_0
when we try the new KitKats, like what do they taste like?
spk_0
And we tried one the other night.
spk_0
I had like, I thought I was going to taste like a maple,
spk_0
because it has like a maple leaf on the front.
spk_0
And we all agreed it.
spk_0
It just kind of tastes like like dirt.
spk_0
Yeah, so I said he's like, there's a leaf on the package.
spk_0
What did you think was going to taste like?
spk_0
Not like a, not like that.
spk_0
Feeling at all.
spk_0
But that's been interesting to wait through the KitKats.
spk_0
Yeah, yeah, that's a good one.
spk_0
But I didn't like buy anything really just candy.
spk_0
That's great.
spk_0
No, I think that's a good thing to bring back.
spk_0
One of my favorite things was having that omakase sushi with you and Chris
spk_0
and watching you just like suffer internally.
spk_0
But like step up to the plate for each bite of fish.
spk_0
Take it down.
spk_0
And then the vegetable came in.
spk_0
You're like, I can't do it.
spk_0
I can't do it.
spk_0
Like it's a vegetable.
spk_0
Like this is the one you're going to bail on.
spk_0
Really?
spk_0
I ate all of the fish.
spk_0
It's a vegetable.
spk_0
When they pulled it out, I was like, I don't know what that is.
spk_0
But it does not look like it's going to agree with my body.
spk_0
And you were like, you're fine.
spk_0
It's just a vegetable.
spk_0
No, I had to ask you a question.
spk_0
So you would hear and be like, maybe it's okay.
spk_0
I'm like, what is it?
spk_0
What type of fish is that?
spk_0
Is that an eel?
spk_0
And they're like, no, no, it's a root.
spk_0
Like, oh, so it's a vegetable.
spk_0
What's a root?
spk_0
I was panicking.
spk_0
Panicking.
spk_0
One of the sushi's and like when my body is done,
spk_0
it's like a straight jacket.
spk_0
It can't start.
spk_0
So I was trying to get you in Christie eat it.
spk_0
I felt so bad, but I was out.
spk_0
I was out.
spk_0
I was sick.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
He's stepped up to the plate.
spk_0
He's a champion.
spk_0
I was like, finish it.
spk_0
Wait, what was your favorite moment?
spk_0
Because you had more outing like dinner excursions,
spk_0
I think, probably than I did.
spk_0
No, not.
spk_0
Maybe I every morning, one night every morning,
spk_0
a lot of the mornings I ran to the fish market.
spk_0
And like I went with Garrett and Kenny and we had sushi at like seven in the morning.
spk_0
Like where are there other people eating sushi?
spk_0
Totally.
spk_0
There's a ton.
spk_0
And it's like people are having beer and like just,
spk_0
I don't know, I guess maybe it's where people better jet lag go.
spk_0
This is where we have to go.
spk_0
So that one was fun.
spk_0
And then also the old fish market is like way more like old school stalls,
spk_0
pop in, get a thing here and there.
spk_0
But I found a place to get it.
spk_0
I would finish my run, get a nice espresso,
spk_0
have a passion fruit smoothie.
spk_0
And then I bought a Japanese knife for Ryan.
spk_0
So I got a blade home.
spk_0
That's cool.
spk_0
You put in your check luggage.
spk_0
No, I carried it on.
spk_0
It's crazy, right?
spk_0
You did not carry it.
spk_0
It was in my check.
spk_0
I never checked luggage.
spk_0
So I was like, well, this is the time to buy a knife.
spk_0
That's awesome.
spk_0
Does he like it?
spk_0
Yeah, he loves it.
spk_0
He's like, I can't wait to use it.
spk_0
What should I use it on first?
spk_0
I'm like, I don't care.
spk_0
Just use it.
spk_0
But it's work.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
But I was like, what do you think?
spk_0
Is that a good gift or is that like something where you're like,
spk_0
oh, I bought you a vacuum?
spk_0
I think it's kind of cool.
spk_0
It's like a handmade.
spk_0
I think it's awesome.
spk_0
Like from a, you know, professional knife maker.
spk_0
I think it's awesome.
spk_0
And that would have been a great gift for Adam.
spk_0
I wish I would have thought of that.
spk_0
And look, sometimes there's a reason for the vacuum.
spk_0
I just want to say I asked for a tiny vacuum for Mother's Day
spk_0
a couple of years ago that I keep under my sink.
spk_0
So that when I dry my hair, my hair falls on the floor.
spk_0
And I just vacuum it up and then we don't have to step on my hair
spk_0
for, you know, it's a practical.
spk_0
Right.
spk_0
And I actually really enjoy his vacuuming.
spk_0
But I would never do that.
spk_0
I hate vacuuming.
spk_0
I just vacuum my hair.
spk_0
I don't like vacuuming the house.
spk_0
It's too much.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
And like I'm only using my right arm.
spk_0
And then I feel at a better length.
spk_0
I don't step soft and does the vacuuming.
spk_0
I am loves it.
spk_0
Like he likes to mow the lawn and put the lines down.
spk_0
Yes.
spk_0
So when he does the vacuuming,
spk_0
usually I feel like he thinks it's similar.
spk_0
Even though he has hardwood floors.
spk_0
So you're not seeing it.
spk_0
But he's just like, I'm sure.
spk_0
He's doing his pattern.
spk_0
You, man.
spk_0
Like three times a day.
spk_0
But sometimes I'm like, I am in the middle of something.
spk_0
Like can you take a beat and let me finish?
spk_0
But that's good.
spk_0
He's doing the vacuuming.
spk_0
I'm like, uh, okay.
spk_0
Looking back at Tokyo, did you have a favorite race that you took in?
spk_0
Like between the track and the Marathons?
spk_0
Was there one that you liked the most or event?
spk_0
I mean, the Marathons regret.
spk_0
I loved both of those.
spk_0
I thought they were exciting.
spk_0
Finishing on the track, um, the US side having people
spk_0
in their late contending was really cool.
spk_0
I just love the marathon in general.
spk_0
I think because it's the track championships, um,
spk_0
I'm going to go to men's 5,000.
spk_0
I feel like the men's 5,000 all of a sudden felt like the new 1500.
spk_0
I don't know if there's a shift.
spk_0
Was is the men's 5, the new 15?
spk_0
I felt like it was.
spk_0
It was it was not not that the 15 was an exciting.
spk_0
But the men's 5 was was like all the players super late.
spk_0
I mean, same with the men's 15, but I don't know.
spk_0
I was like, I think for the first championship in a while,
spk_0
it was way more exciting than the 15.
spk_0
I don't know why.
spk_0
I think the way the men's 15 just sort of whittled down
spk_0
throughout the year, even leading into this,
spk_0
like you lose Nugu.
spk_0
And you're like, oh, yeah.
spk_0
And then like Kessler didn't make the team.
spk_0
spk_0
It was like people who were significant just had a hard time coming back.
spk_0
But the five felt like everyone was there.
spk_0
Like it was.
spk_0
And not to be little to 15.
spk_0
I mean, it was a great race.
spk_0
No, I mean, they're all awesome.
spk_0
Yeah, right.
spk_0
But it's just that same energy from last year's 15
spk_0
felt like it was in this year's five.
spk_0
Yeah, I agree with you.
spk_0
It was probably my favorite race.
spk_0
I thought it was really good.
spk_0
And I really liked both 800s too.
spk_0
Yeah, the 800s are right up there.
spk_0
You're good.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
I mean, I love it all.
spk_0
Beemish Winning was pretty epic too.
spk_0
But I would say men's 5 if I had to pick one.
spk_0
Probably because I'm not supposed to have favorites,
spk_0
but it's a really fun one in American wins.
spk_0
That's very, very rarely happens.
spk_0
Yeah, it's kind of special.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
Well, and I also think we should take a second to thank Keytone
spk_0
for supporting the pods out there.
spk_0
Those are really fun to do,
spk_0
along with the Brooks High Pals and getting athletes in.
spk_0
But also just Keytone for keeping us functioning.
spk_0
Keeping us functioning and keeping my mind clear.
spk_0
Seriously, I'm super thankful and it was good.
spk_0
Good all around.
spk_0
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
And that's not a nod that's just from the heart today.
spk_0
Just thank you.
spk_0
spk_0
Just from the heart.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
No, that was super nice to be able to do that amount of shows
spk_0
and get into that much stuff.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
Okay, well, there is another hot topic out there
spk_0
that people want our opinion on.
spk_0
I was trying to run out the clock.
spk_0
No, we're doing it.
spk_0
So Dury and World Champs, also, I hated the timing of this announcement.
spk_0
Like, oh, you're trying to steal Thunder from the other athletes.
spk_0
Like, it's so lame.
spk_0
But so how do you feel about it?
spk_0
We're going to talk about this.
spk_0
I feel like I'm being gaslit by people telling me why it's okay
spk_0
that Fred Curley is doing.
spk_0
This is so annoying to me.
spk_0
But so the enhanced games are coming next year.
spk_0
They have five events.
spk_0
I wrote them down so I would know for sure.
spk_0
Athletics, which is track, swimming, weightlifting,
spk_0
gymnastics, which sounds like a great idea.
spk_0
In combat sports, which sounds like a really great idea.
spk_0
While we're at World Champs,
spk_0
World Champion Olympic Silver Medalist Olympic Bronze Medalist
spk_0
in the 100 Fred Curley, who earlier in June or July
spk_0
was hit with a wear-about sanction.
spk_0
And he said he was going to be fighting it.
spk_0
That he could prove that he didn't miss it.
spk_0
But anyway, he signed with the enhanced games while we were there.
spk_0
And that, like, the fact that he announced it while the World Championships
spk_0
were going on annoyed me a lot.
spk_0
For sure.
spk_0
It was just like, dude, wait a week.
spk_0
You got to capture the moment of the things that actually matter.
spk_0
Right. Well, then that should tell you what really matters.
spk_0
Not the enhanced games, the World Champs.
spk_0
But yeah, I just felt...
spk_0
I feel like I've never wanted something to fail so badly in my life as the enhanced games.
spk_0
I find everything about it so annoying.
spk_0
And I know they're getting paid a lot.
spk_0
And I was just in...
spk_0
Bored meeting.
spk_0
So are the guys in Grand Slam.
spk_0
So...
spk_0
Right. Well, I was just in a board meeting on Friday and they were like,
spk_0
well, they're getting life-changing money.
spk_0
And I'm like...
spk_0
What the hell are we talking about?
spk_0
I feel like I'm being gaslit into, like,
spk_0
understanding why someone would sign up for it.
spk_0
And I just...
spk_0
I don't...
spk_0
I don't...
spk_0
I get that it's life-changing money.
spk_0
Blah blah blah blah.
spk_0
But you're fool.
spk_0
And if you don't run faster than you did
spk_0
when you were a clean athlete,
spk_0
then that's even more pathetic.
spk_0
I mean, to sign up for that league is to make a statement about what you've been up to.
spk_0
Right.
spk_0
Yeah, right.
spk_0
I don't know.
spk_0
I...
spk_0
We got a lot of messages like,
spk_0
what's your hot take?
spk_0
And I don't...
spk_0
I don't think it's a hot take at all.
spk_0
I think the whole league's bullshit.
spk_0
Yeah, pathetic.
spk_0
I won't watch it and I'm not interested in it.
spk_0
And I think it's terrible for youth sports.
spk_0
I think it's...
spk_0
Yes.
spk_0
The whole thing is just bad.
spk_0
And also, at the end of the day, it's like...
spk_0
There's still going to want some idea of what you're using
spk_0
and they want to put guard rules up for safety.
spk_0
So really, is it an enhanced league?
spk_0
spk_0
Like, you're...
spk_0
I don't know.
spk_0
There's still...
spk_0
Well, we can't...
spk_0
We don't want people dying.
spk_0
So we're going to have to make sure it's only these types of...
spk_0
Right.
spk_0
Enhancement.
spk_0
Like, okay.
spk_0
Well, then...
spk_0
I don't know.
spk_0
All of it's...
spk_0
I think it's disgusting.
spk_0
I heard that...
spk_0
The Enhance Games is going to have their own...
spk_0
Like, line of like, to Sosra.
spk_0
So they'll make a big sense.
spk_0
It's not like...
spk_0
Right.
spk_0
So it's like...
spk_0
No, like, they're going to be selling...
spk_0
Like, selling supplements in crap.
spk_0
Oh, gosh.
spk_0
Like, he's...
spk_0
He's like, like, thresholds.
spk_0
Yeah, I know.
spk_0
Like, like...
spk_0
So this is basically like a giant marketing...
spk_0
It's to get their brand up.
spk_0
An supplement company.
spk_0
There's this...
spk_0
This swimmer from the UK, Ben Proud,
spk_0
who signed on a few weeks before...
spk_0
The World Championship Track.
spk_0
Swimmer, who is a Paris Silver Medalist.
spk_0
And the interviews with these athletes
spk_0
are like, nails on a chalkboard to me.
spk_0
The way that they...
spk_0
Do the mental gymnastics too, like, sure.
spk_0
Make it okay.
spk_0
You know, like, just admit it.
spk_0
You're a cheater.
spk_0
Right.
spk_0
And you have no morals.
spk_0
Just say it.
spk_0
Like, just...
spk_0
Hey, kids, be like me.
spk_0
Don't give a fuck.
spk_0
This is your combat sports.
spk_0
Enjoy your CTE.
spk_0
I know it's...
spk_0
It's so annoying.
spk_0
But what if they offered you $10 million
spk_0
to run a marathon?
spk_0
I feel like there's like...
spk_0
Everyone has a price for things.
spk_0
But like, that one...
spk_0
There's like...
spk_0
No, there's no price.
spk_0
There's no price.
spk_0
And I think that like,
spk_0
I just feel like I'm smart enough and driven
spk_0
enough that I could figure out another way to do it.
spk_0
Where, like,
spk_0
not in sports.
spk_0
Okay, if I really want to make $10 million,
spk_0
I need to be...
spk_0
In business.
spk_0
Or, you know, in tech or whatever it may be.
spk_0
Like, I would want to use my brain to figure it out.
spk_0
I don't care about $10 million.
spk_0
I think there's
spk_0
ways to make that by being smart with your savings
spk_0
and the whole different story.
spk_0
But there's no...
spk_0
I just...
spk_0
To me, it's...
spk_0
Eki.
spk_0
There's no price.
spk_0
There's no price on that one.
spk_0
I know, but I like...
spk_0
That's why I wanted to ask you.
spk_0
Because that's the response I want from everybody else.
spk_0
Like, there's not a price for it.
spk_0
It's not worth your integrity.
spk_0
And...
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
But...
spk_0
I also feel like there's a lot of people that don't have...
spk_0
I don't want to like...
spk_0
Maybe...
spk_0
I want to put this out there and it's probably the wrong word.
spk_0
But maybe you just like the self-confidence
spk_0
or the self-esteem to think that they can do it a different way.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
You know, like, okay, I don't need to be an athlete.
spk_0
Like, what's next?
spk_0
Like, okay.
spk_0
I have this choice.
spk_0
I don't need to do it because
spk_0
all these other things are available for me.
spk_0
Like, there's...
spk_0
There's so many ways to make money.
spk_0
If you're really money-driven,
spk_0
like...
spk_0
It's...
spk_0
There's infinite opportunities out there.
spk_0
So why pick that one?
spk_0
You're good enough.
spk_0
You're smart enough.
spk_0
You're like...
spk_0
Believe you're more than like just an athlete
spk_0
who has to take some shit to...
spk_0
And then maybe you make it, maybe you don't.
spk_0
But...
spk_0
There's other ways that are much better.
spk_0
And there are better examples for...
spk_0
Kids.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
I think it always goes back to like,
spk_0
young kids looking up to athletes.
spk_0
Right?
spk_0
Maybe that shouldn't be it.
spk_0
Maybe you're not a Romo.
spk_0
Maybe it's the Charles Barkley, like, I'm not a Romo.
spk_0
But it's...
spk_0
With the drugs and the stuff that you...
spk_0
You know...
spk_0
I don't know.
spk_0
Everyone's trying to make it.
spk_0
And if that looks like the only way to make it,
spk_0
you're going to have an impression on that younger generation.
spk_0
And that sucks because youth sports should just be about flotting too.
spk_0
I know.
spk_0
I think about that too.
spk_0
I think about what does it say to the younger generation?
spk_0
And they see...
spk_0
They see people excusing it, you know?
spk_0
Like, I was shocked at the all the people just like,
spk_0
excusing it for Fred.
spk_0
Like, oh, it makes sense because...
spk_0
And like, that drives me insane.
spk_0
And I don't know.
spk_0
I also think about how you and I,
spk_0
or me especially, was like hyped on Fred Curly last year.
spk_0
Lady and Teeville and Pixie Miles.
spk_0
And now I'm like, oh...
spk_0
I mean, it's really been it...
spk_0
The struggle is really taking us far.
spk_0
It's really taking us far.
spk_0
No, there's been like domestic violence and other stuff.
spk_0
And fall down and then mistest.
spk_0
And I'm like, Fred, you really broke my heart.
spk_0
This is, you know...
spk_0
I mean, but that's a really interesting thing too.
spk_0
Like, I think you want to believe in athletes.
spk_0
And like, oh, he's so nice.
spk_0
Or, oh, he's trying so hard.
spk_0
Or, oh, his story is so interesting.
spk_0
But at the end of the day,
spk_0
you never know what these people are about.
spk_0
And that's true.
spk_0
Like, for us too, you know?
spk_0
We can sit on here and talk about how our morals and ethics are.
spk_0
But at the end of the day, nobody really knows us.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
But your actions say a lot.
spk_0
Yes, totally.
spk_0
All right.
spk_0
Well, everybody wanted us to talk about that.
spk_0
It kind of went how I thought it would go.
spk_0
We did it.
spk_0
Right.
spk_0
Well, yeah, I was like, what's your hot take?
spk_0
Like, it's not that hot.
spk_0
It's, I think it's pretty predictable.
spk_0
spk_0
And if you didn't realize that,
spk_0
yeah, I mean, okay, here's the, here's the thing.
spk_0
I'll ask you this.
spk_0
When,
spk_0
when you're talking about supplements and brands that you do promote,
spk_0
how do you pick?
spk_0
You know, like, we talk about ketone.
spk_0
Is that something that people should be like,
spk_0
well, well, you're not any better?
spk_0
Because this is a supplement or
spk_0
you're like, how do you pick?
spk_0
How do you decide?
spk_0
And where's that line?
spk_0
I know we could, we can edit this out if it's like,
spk_0
no, no, it's okay.
spk_0
We're just thrown on you.
spk_0
I know.
spk_0
For me, what's interesting is,
spk_0
and I don't even tell you, we get offers for supplement stuff all the time.
spk_0
And I just know, delete it.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
Like, personally, and then now that I'm like in my late 40s,
spk_0
I get a lot of stuff from people wanting to sell me,
spk_0
you know, stuff that pre-middle-possible women and all that kind of stuff.
spk_0
But I've gotten so many reachouts about our pod.
spk_0
And I'm just like, no, thanks.
spk_0
So I guess it could be hypocritical because I do love the ketones.
spk_0
And I do feel like they help me as an announcer.
spk_0
It's, I think if I was an athlete, like a competitive athlete,
spk_0
still, if I'm going to take anything, it needs to be
spk_0
clean-sport certified.
spk_0
And is ketone under that?
spk_0
I do.
spk_0
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
So I think that's the biggest thing for me.
spk_0
It would be a brand that cares that, hey, if athletes are going to leave the lawn,
spk_0
we're going to get the label.
spk_0
And it costs a lot of money to get that label.
spk_0
Right.
spk_0
So a lot of money in its time.
spk_0
But I think that's super important.
spk_0
But yeah, I guess I love ketones.
spk_0
And so maybe it is hypocritical, but it is certified.
spk_0
And SR is other stuff.
spk_0
I don't, I mean,
spk_0
I don't want to like, dog on anyone for taking supplements.
spk_0
But I just, it's not an area that I feel comfortable in.
spk_0
Most of you don't need.
spk_0
Right.
spk_0
You're, I mean, like, you're just like, I eat them all around a diet.
spk_0
Turns out it's okay.
spk_0
You have really expensive piss.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
I mean, that's my take.
spk_0
And I'm with you on it.
spk_0
And, you know, I'm partnered with
spk_0
goo nutrition brand, which is,
spk_0
yeah, but that's, you actually need food when you're racing.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
So that's like one example.
spk_0
Keytone, you're using it in the race and like, they're very functional.
spk_0
And there's things that you're like, I'm going to test this
spk_0
many times before I
spk_0
agreed to a partnership.
spk_0
And I think we do that with our pod as well.
spk_0
Anything that we're
spk_0
promoting on here is like, well, send us the product.
spk_0
Do we want to use the Lagoon Pillow first and make sure we actually like it?
spk_0
And like every single thing we have, it's, it's something we've gone through.
spk_0
It's not just like, hey, here's 10 million bucks.
spk_0
Right.
spk_0
Well, you sign a deal.
spk_0
I think that that's just an important thing to
spk_0
say.
spk_0
It's like, it has to make sense.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
And I think like, it is, it's just really personal.
spk_0
Like you and I could be making a lot more money if we were willing to do
spk_0
this supplement route.
spk_0
But I just, I don't use supplements.
spk_0
So.
spk_0
Right.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
I don't know.
spk_0
I mean, yeah, it's also like,
spk_0
the authenticity and genuineness if we're like,
spk_0
hey, this week we're putting out this creatine and next week it's like
spk_0
that muscle builder and you're just like, do you really use that shit?
spk_0
Like, dead has no muscles.
spk_0
Like you're not using creatine.
spk_0
I mean, I can see like a recovery shake.
spk_0
You know, like I still drink recovery shakes after like, I have,
spk_0
can't run very well right now.
spk_0
So I've been lifting like crazy.
spk_0
She's an protein.
spk_0
And I do in fact use like protein powders and stuff.
spk_0
But I think one thing that we've done really well is that we haven't just
spk_0
hot something just to hot it.
spk_0
Like I can even think of drinks we've used that we actually drank
spk_0
and then we were sad when we didn't get any more.
spk_0
Right.
spk_0
spk_0
There's not like we, all the pop is awesome.
spk_0
I still drink all the pop tap in on a super coffee.
spk_0
Yeah, super coffee.
spk_0
And like, I liked that, you know, and so it
spk_0
it, not everything that we that we decide to enter into a relationship with is going to hit with everybody.
spk_0
But for us, it's super important that it hits with us, you know, I don't know.
spk_0
I think and also supplements, it seems like a lot of these,
spk_0
at least athletes are claiming that a lot of these small,
spk_0
like these trace element or small amount element of positive tests are coming from supplements.
spk_0
So I just feel like investing in nutritionist and learn exactly what you need.
spk_0
And then like make the food, cook the food, be in charge of the food.
spk_0
Instead of buying the supplements that you don't know.
spk_0
And if you are going to buy supplements, they sure as hell better be batch tested,
spk_0
batch tested and certified, say, whatever it's called.
spk_0
I can't think what it's called right now, but there's like an actual certification.
spk_0
Looking for a little key to the bottom, but I don't know how many things.
spk_0
Yeah, it's just like NSF.
spk_0
Yes, thank you, Chris.
spk_0
God, that was killing me.
spk_0
NSF certified, but it's also like if you want to invest in that, it's so expensive.
spk_0
Invest in a nutritionist.
spk_0
Meet with someone.
spk_0
Go over your training.
spk_0
Find out what you and your body need.
spk_0
And now I just, yeah, that's such a long-term approach to like that will help me for years and
spk_0
years. Right.
spk_0
It's not just for your event now.
spk_0
spk_0
And it's like, it's like everything else.
spk_0
If you're thinking long game and health and wellness,
spk_0
probably going to be better than shortcut pack.
spk_0
Yeah, I agree.
spk_0
I was going to say, well, no, we can get a far-so boxes, but
spk_0
yeah, people take care of yourselves.
spk_0
All right, sorry, that's a good turn, but I just, I feel like there is that
spk_0
sort of tension of like, well, you guys have these things and
spk_0
right in this fair.
spk_0
Yeah, but yeah, so I called this out before.
spk_0
Good job.
spk_0
Anyone else can.
spk_0
We have our boundaries and maybe not everyone's comfortable with them, but we are.
spk_0
Yeah, those are our boundaries.
spk_0
All right, we're rolling to a top five.
spk_0
Do it top five.
spk_0
All right, I'll go first.
spk_0
Okay, good.
spk_0
I'm going to say Colt Goucher turned 15 and got his permit.
spk_0
And he's driving me around.
spk_0
Is that nice?
spk_0
No, no, no, no, he's not driving on like real roads yet.
spk_0
Like he got his permit Thursday.
spk_0
We drove around the neighborhood at night and it was a bad idea because it was like dark.
spk_0
And it was a very terrifying experience for all of us.
spk_0
And then we took him driving yesterday way out on the dirt roads that I used to run on.
spk_0
And that was way better.
spk_0
Like yeah, not very many cars.
spk_0
A lot like Colt was like, this is pedestrian heaven because there were so many people biking
spk_0
and running.
spk_0
I was like, I'm sorry, but that was actually good too.
spk_0
He learned how to go around people.
spk_0
Yeah, he really wants to drive to school.
spk_0
But he also, he is not even close, but I was just, it's crazy times to have a kid that can drive you.
spk_0
It's weird.
spk_0
And but I'm also excited for him.
spk_0
And it's, it's just fun to see him grow up.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
Happy 15th Colt 15th grads on that that permit.
spk_0
It's going to be a license one day soon.
spk_0
A attention.
spk_0
A attention in the car kid.
spk_0
Get off your phone.
spk_0
Okay, I'm going to go with the writer cup.
spk_0
I watched that for like three days straight.
spk_0
And it was all the emotions.
spk_0
I feel like people will have a lot of opinions on the overall experience.
spk_0
I'm not going to get into that.
spk_0
But I will say it was pure drama on the third day.
spk_0
And it came down to the wire.
spk_0
And it was fun.
spk_0
It was very entertaining.
spk_0
And I think that the broadcast struggled.
spk_0
There's some things that they could do better.
spk_0
But I felt like the players left it all out there.
spk_0
And it was fun to watch.
spk_0
That's cool.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
Good job.
spk_0
I hear you're a sports buff.
spk_0
Like I don't know sports like you do.
spk_0
I think I just like to sit on the couch.
spk_0
Okay, well, going with your sports theme.
spk_0
Okay.
spk_0
I went to a Buffs game.
spk_0
A Colorado game.
spk_0
Colorado versus BYU.
spk_0
We have friends that have tickets on the field.
spk_0
Like with chairs, a waitress, all of the things.
spk_0
And they had a Jason and Kate Robbie
spk_0
thinks for having us.
spk_0
They actually had a bunch of old like
spk_0
teammates.
spk_0
So the Ritz and Heinz came to and the Vons.
spk_0
And we had such a good time.
spk_0
And the Buffs were supposed to get beat.
spk_0
And for a while, it looked like they were going to pull off this amazing upset
spk_0
because they're up 14-0.
spk_0
We ended up losing, which was kind of sad.
spk_0
But we still had a great time.
spk_0
And it was fun.
spk_0
And then just rolling into the next morning,
spk_0
the Boulder Thorn was here.
spk_0
And it's, I love local races.
spk_0
And they had 15,000 participants across all their races.
spk_0
So good job.
spk_0
Buffs and Boulder Thorn.
spk_0
Love it.
spk_0
It's a good one.
spk_0
I'm sporty.
spk_0
Yeah, yeah.
spk_0
No, you're doing great.
spk_0
I love that.
spk_0
When I ask you some football questions next time.
spk_0
Oh, no, please don't.
spk_0
It was so funny.
spk_0
Like Kate and I were sitting and then the women we all kind of sat
spk_0
and the men were kind of standing.
spk_0
And then whenever there would be a bad call,
spk_0
they'd be like, come on, we'd go, yeah, go on.
spk_0
And then they might wait, what are we mad about?
spk_0
I love it.
spk_0
Yeah, that's pretty good.
spk_0
Yeah, no, you got to be at the game.
spk_0
You got to tell you learn.
spk_0
That's how you get into it.
spk_0
That's how they hook you in.
spk_0
So good start.
spk_0
You're on your way.
spk_0
It's good start.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
All right.
spk_0
I'm going to go with the.
spk_0
I'm just going to go specifically for the women's trail team at
spk_0
where I was.
spk_0
Oh, yeah.
spk_0
I know the men did well as well,
spk_0
but I've been seeing women hauling in the medals galore
spk_0
that's been awesome to see.
spk_0
Anna Gibson took bronze in her one of her races,
spk_0
which is really incredible.
spk_0
I think it's her I think it's her first world championship.
spk_0
So to have that experience get a medal
spk_0
for the BRICS team is really cool.
spk_0
And then I think.
spk_0
Hillary Allen.
spk_0
I think that's her name.
spk_0
Yeah, it is.
spk_0
Hillary I'm Hillary goats.
spk_0
You know, I'm talking about.
spk_0
Yeah, yeah.
spk_0
She also had a really great run out there in the longer race.
spk_0
So the BRICS trail team holding it down.
spk_0
Good job, guys.
spk_0
Yeah, Gels.
spk_0
Hillary has a really good book about when she fell.
spk_0
So you guys should check that out.
spk_0
It's really good.
spk_0
Okay, good.
spk_0
That's a good one.
spk_0
Yeah.
spk_0
I've even popping up Oliver.
spk_0
My feet too.
spk_0
I'm like, it's also fun.
spk_0
Yeah, yeah.
spk_0
It does look fun.
spk_0
Like they make you they hook they hook you in.
spk_0
Because you're like, oh, it's a beautiful place.
spk_0
And you're like, this is fucking hiking.
spk_0
spk_0
Which is their actually.
spk_0
They're actually running.
spk_0
Okay.
spk_0
Just because we hit on Tokyo at the top,
spk_0
I'm going to end with a shout out to everyone
spk_0
who was in the booth with me in Tokyo.
spk_0
Trey Hardy, Audible.
spk_0
And but especially Bill Spalding who came in,
spk_0
new new team and did great.
spk_0
And then hooked me with the karaoke.
spk_0
Louis Johnson who's eyes professional.
spk_0
But especially Paul Swangard,
spk_0
who has been play by play at, you know,
spk_0
smaller meets, but a nine day meet.
spk_0
It's super intense.
spk_0
And he did such a great job.
spk_0
He advocated for all of us.
spk_0
We all got on air like what we wanted to get on air.
spk_0
He was a great leader.
spk_0
And so I just called it awesome.
spk_0
And I just want to like give him a little bit more credit
spk_0
before we all move on.
spk_0
Yeah, he did.
spk_0
I when I did see him in the sky club,
spk_0
I made sure to tell him that because I think he was just
spk_0
really a standout.
spk_0
And that's such a big moment.
spk_0
And you feel like you have your shot.
spk_0
And there could be all these things that like
spk_0
make you tense and nervous and you just walked in and crushed it.
spk_0
Like he does it all the time.
spk_0
Because he does it all the time.
spk_0
Yeah, that was cool for him to have that moment.
spk_0
And I hope that he gets more opportunities like that.
spk_0
Because he's really fantastic at it.
spk_0
Get your call.
spk_0
Yeah, good job Paul.
spk_0
Thanks everyone for listening.
