spk_0 I clicked it and it just wouldn't start and then finally it said recording and progress.
spk_0 So here we are.
spk_0 Hello everyone and welcome back to Boldly Go Star Trek Strangelyworld's podcast.
spk_0 I am Brandi Jacola here to ramble about the final episode of the season three of Strangely
spk_0 World's.
spk_0 And with me, of course, is my fantastic husband, Dave, Dave.
spk_0 Hi.
spk_0 Hi, there you go.
spk_0 Something you don't see in Star Trek very often is the confusion between clicking and
spk_0 double clicking.
spk_0 Everybody seems to work their little touchpad computer screens pretty well.
spk_0 Mm-hmm.
spk_0 Just now let's click, click, click, click, click, click, click, click, click, click, click,
spk_0 click, click, click, click, click, click, click, click, click, click, click, click, click, click,
spk_0 click, like it's the old windows thing freezes up on you.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Can you imagine?
spk_0 And then brings up all the windows you tried to open like 10 minutes later.
spk_0 Yeah, the view screen case.
spk_0 That's a fatal error.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 The Apple pinwheel going.
spk_0 Oh my god.
spk_0 Technology.
spk_0 Yep.
spk_0 So yeah, this is the season three finale of Strangely World's New Life.
spk_0 And New Civilizations.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 I'll title this.
spk_0 I can, you know, see why they chose it because, you know, strange new worlds.
spk_0 And so why not finish off the saying?
spk_0 But it sounds like a conclusion to the series, you know, like maybe they thought they weren't
spk_0 going to get more series or seasons announced.
spk_0 And this could possibly be an end.
spk_0 No.
spk_0 Well, because they announced when they announced that lower decks was ending at season five, they
spk_0 also announced that strange new worlds had already been renewed for seasons three and
spk_0 four.
spk_0 Right.
spk_0 So this is definitely not something that they thought was going to end at season three.
spk_0 I think they're just trying to get that Star Trek prologue in there all the way.
spk_0 Right.
spk_0 By breaking it up bit by bit.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 And it just doesn't seem to fit the episode that much other than just kind of this, this
spk_0 sideways reference that Corby, is that his name right?
spk_0 Yep.
spk_0 Yep.
spk_0 Corby gives them this basic star map of all these worlds they have yet to explore.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 And so those are the strange new worlds and strange new civilizations for seasons to
spk_0 come.
spk_0 And a five year mission, which is another thing that seemed like a hand off.
spk_0 It's like, this is enough for a five year mission, wink, wink.
spk_0 Nudge, nudge.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 We get the recap of recaps to start this.
spk_0 Oh, yeah, we do.
spk_0 So much recapping.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Well, because, yeah, we're built, we built up three seasons of the conclusion of this.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 So like that Mariners red string conspiracy wall.
spk_0 It's liking everything to this episode.
spk_0 It's like this happened and this happened and this happened and we get to see the beep
spk_0 beep chair, which we haven't seen for a while.
spk_0 Yeah, we have not seen the beep chair since discovery, I think.
spk_0 Or was it early SNW?
spk_0 I can't remember.
spk_0 Was it early like in the, I think it was really early days SNW and then they kind of moved
spk_0 away from it for a while.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 So, we've got Patel Required, yeah, cleared rather to return to Jag.
spk_0 I tried to jump ahead in the sentence and it didn't.
spk_0 Yes.
spk_0 Understood.
spk_0 And of course, we're going to have a big fancy party for her.
spk_0 Well, not really big pants, fancy party.
spk_0 It's actually pretty cash.
spk_0 But Uhura finally gets to be the one to play a trick on the nub because Scotty shows up
spk_0 in complete Scottish finery and it's, I mean, sporing and everything.
spk_0 It is fantastic.
spk_0 Oh, yeah.
spk_0 That's the question.
spk_0 Is this first time at the captain's table?
spk_0 Is that, yep, remember, it's a formal affair.
spk_0 Oh God, I love me, a Scotsman.
spk_0 But yeah, that's just adorable.
spk_0 And you know, who knows what it's like to feel like that.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Because Erica did it to her.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 But at the same time, it's not really in a mean spirited way.
spk_0 It's just a little gentle hazing.
spk_0 It's just not a big deal.
spk_0 Very gentle hazing.
spk_0 It's basically saying, hey, actually you belong here.
spk_0 Yep.
spk_0 And we're going to raz you because you belong here.
spk_0 So you're one of the people that we can, that there's going to be around for a while.
spk_0 It will be funny if Scottie ends up doing it to Sulu or something.
spk_0 Oh my gosh.
spk_0 I know that I know that you've already expressed this.
spk_0 And you expressed it before I did.
spk_0 We would love to see a TOS reboot.
spk_0 And I would pay money.
spk_0 Well, I pay money anyway for a subscription to watch the fucking thing.
spk_0 But I would pay even more.
spk_0 I would pay additional money to see Paul Wesley as Jim Kirk.
spk_0 And, you know, and Ahura and yeah, et cetera.
spk_0 Yeah, though I think in the menagerie that Pikes Helmsman was named Tyler.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 We haven't seen a Tyler yet.
spk_0 Well, that doesn't mean that the Helmsman is the same person every time.
spk_0 Right.
spk_0 True.
spk_0 So it's just that when something big is happening, of course, our core cast is going to be the
spk_0 crew that's handling.
spk_0 Right.
spk_0 So anyway.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 So basically at this party also, we get another Doctor Who reference.
spk_0 Right.
spk_0 Because Pellie is talking about her adventures and the times she was with a time traveling
spk_0 well, never mind.
spk_0 You know, she was about to say Doctor.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 So.
spk_0 Yes, indeed.
spk_0 More and more of these Doctor Who Star Trek crossover references.
spk_0 It's fun.
spk_0 It's fun.
spk_0 Um, boy, I really did not write very good notes.
spk_0 You're not reading your handwriting very well.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Uh, well, basically I can't remember.
spk_0 See, this is why I should have watched it again.
spk_0 We were only seeing it twice.
spk_0 I know that, but my notes are not sufficient because all I have here is Doctor Who
spk_0 reference and then skipping ahead to just the next thing I wrote was the tell coming
spk_0 into her power.
spk_0 And I'm like, wait, what?
spk_0 Well, what did I miss?
spk_0 What happens is that they're in sick Bay or they're investigating the, uh, the ice
spk_0 transporter buffer.
spk_0 And there's been a weird glitch and apparently something escaped the buffer and reanimated
spk_0 essentially from whatever scraps of information was there, which was, and they figured out
spk_0 it was gamble.
spk_0 Mm-hmm.
spk_0 That gamble escaped his confines in the, in the buffer.
spk_0 Right.
spk_0 And she kind of like activates because all of a sudden she, her eyes look like she's,
spk_0 it looks like she's carrying the universe in her eyes, basically.
spk_0 Yeah, because the reference that Corby went to this, this planet and there's this,
spk_0 yeah, and there's this word that I think Spock mentions that she responded to and that's
spk_0 related to Skigaw and somehow.
spk_0 Mm-hmm.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 So, um, anyway, her eyes do eventually go back to normal.
spk_0 Yeah, they become like galaxies.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 And she can see normally through them and spikes kind of freaked out by them.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 But basically, since Corby is there and now we know that gamble is loose, of course,
spk_0 the only lead that they have is Skigaw and so they go there, of course.
spk_0 And everybody has a fabulous outfit, like every crew member is just has fabulous outfits.
spk_0 This planet was very heavy metal magazine, especially the ones done by Mobius, who was the
spk_0 guy they based a lot of the fifth element on.
spk_0 So the alien designs their outfits, just kind of the stony look of this planet and it's
spk_0 weird double pyramids with the, the open center, which got to help that power system stays
spk_0 on because otherwise quiche.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 It's a really, it's really weird architecture and seems like it's regut, it's relying a
spk_0 lot on repulsors to keep everything, you know, upright and that is, that worries me.
spk_0 And the people here seem to worship the Vesda and a lot of them wear this kind of eye makeup
spk_0 that reminiscent of them having poked out their eyes.
spk_0 It's like the bad guys from, was it the first Dr. Strange movie?
spk_0 Yes.
spk_0 That were in the Darmomu cults and they had that weird burning eyes look to them.
spk_0 Mm-hmm.
spk_0 Yeah, they have a similar kind of makeup thing.
spk_0 Look painful.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 So they need to sneak into this, this pyramidal structure because that's where the gateway
spk_0 is into whatever they're doing, you know, whatever gambles attempting to do.
spk_0 So they have to do this, this drunk acting, Una and, oh, you are skipping way.
spk_0 Am I, okay.
spk_0 You are skipping way ahead.
spk_0 Because they're basically, because, oh no, wait, I think you're right.
spk_0 Right.
spk_0 Okay, you're right.
spk_0 I apologize.
spk_0 So yeah, they basically get close enough to, you know, get transported or whatever happens
spk_0 to the next level and that's where she finds Corby.
spk_0 Well, they notice the doors are very similar to the doors that were in the temple of doom
spk_0 or not to be able to be at the last crusade prison.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 That it's the same kind of setup and that, you know, whether or not they have to go in order
spk_0 or if it requires a blood sacrifice, I mean, all these things get referenced.
spk_0 But yeah, there are some guards out front keeping people from going in and that's when they
spk_0 do the drunk bit and then Blanc gets behind and does the Vulcanic neck bench on the guards
spk_0 puts them in both.
spk_0 Yeah, yeah, she's been learning stuff while she's been dating Spock.
spk_0 And Nurse Chapel is jealous.
spk_0 You're going to point out, is that what you guys do?
spk_0 I tried to learn and can you show me your finger placement?
spk_0 It's like, guys, the doors open and we can go now.
spk_0 Yeah, the thing is is that Christine was never all in with Spock.
spk_0 No, well, she's got commitment issues, which is something we've already brought up.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Which is kind of odd considering, you know, Corby is more devoted to his work than he is to
spk_0 her.
spk_0 So yeah, she seems to get a taste of her own medicine in that respect, I suppose.
spk_0 I know she's, she's basically dating a guy who's too much like her.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 And is kind of commitment averse.
spk_0 Yeah, she's focused on his work.
spk_0 Yeah, his first commitment is always going to be his work.
spk_0 And that's the case for Chapel too, but, you know, it's like don't mess with other people.
spk_0 If that's how you're going to be, that's just not correct.
spk_0 And you broke Spock's heart, bitch.
spk_0 Makes me angry.
spk_0 So yeah, the, the vamp up to the level between, you know, the pyramids, the top and the bottom.
spk_0 And there's yet another door there and it has a bunch of riding in it.
spk_0 And there's Swahili on there and it tells a story, which Ambinga sees his own story is like,
spk_0 how tragic is Ambinga's backstory?
spk_0 He's like that, that role player in your role playing group with a really dark character that
spk_0 has really twisted, dark past.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 It's like a killed a guy when I was two years old.
spk_0 Well, he wasn't that young.
spk_0 He was what he was 14 something like that.
spk_0 He was 12.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 He was on a colony and there were some bad people and he had to defend himself.
spk_0 So he stabbed one of them.
spk_0 It was the first time he took a life at 12.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 But was killer be killed?
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 And we've seen, we've seen gamble.
spk_0 You know, gamble isn't present that we know of when they all arrive at this place.
spk_0 But once they go up to the next level, that's when in Banga sees his story basically.
spk_0 Is this before or after he gets everybody to stab themselves in the eye?
spk_0 I think that's coming.
spk_0 No, that's coming.
spk_0 That's coming.
spk_0
spk_0 But meanwhile, we've also got people back on the enterprise trying to figure out what
spk_0 the hell's going on.
spk_0 And lay lines come up.
spk_0 Right.
spk_0 Sam brings it up.
spk_0 Sam Kirk is saying, oh, yeah, lay lines.
spk_0 And then you see Spock do the kind of look in the eyebrow, which we already know him
spk_0 and Sam don't get along too well.
spk_0 And then Sam looks at him like, it's their thing.
spk_0 Yeah, lay lines are basically traffic lines.
spk_0 And they're supposedly have energy, especially like psychic energy.
spk_0 And on the earth, they're supposed to connect important places like Mecca, Rome, I guess
spk_0 the St. Petersburg, places that major events have taken place.
spk_0 Lay lines will connect these places.
spk_0 And where lay lines intersect, they create like a Nexus point, which would create even
spk_0 a greater source of power.
spk_0 And the more Nexus points that connect like if you have two overlapping, you know, you
spk_0 have like four lines there.
spk_0 If you have three lines, these like creates like six points.
spk_0 And so the game, palladium, role plane game, RIFS is based on this is that these lay lines
spk_0 and Nexus points create like portals between dimensions.
spk_0 And so all the different role plane games they designed, you can create characters and have
spk_0 them all be inside the same world.
spk_0 Because these RIFS appear and things can go in and out of them, which makes it pretty
spk_0 difficult role plane game to like campaign to game master.
spk_0 Because you're doing with a lot.
spk_0 But yeah, that's what a lace lay line is.
spk_0 And I think Pilya calls it bus lines or bus routes.
spk_0 My year cats can get a kid here too.
spk_0 It's probably, let's be honest, it's probably just one cat, which is probably R is yelling
spk_0 at the other cats that just want to live.
spk_0 One interesting thing I noticed about everybody's outfits, you know, they match basically their
spk_0 personalities, probably something having to do with their background.
spk_0 But why did Christine change your hair color?
spk_0 I don't know.
spk_0 It's just weird.
spk_0 I don't know, just because you can, I guess.
spk_0 Yeah, but what would why?
spk_0 It just doesn't make any sense.
spk_0 Oh, on the lay line thing, there's a reason they brought it up.
spk_0 It's because there's a traffic line from this place to that world where the prison is.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Or skygow into whatever that other world was.
spk_0 Does the not actually call you one or something like that.
spk_0 No, Shush, Shush, Varian 9.
spk_0 Varian 9.
spk_0 Okay.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 So yeah, there's there's traffic routes between those.
spk_0 And since these guys can work from place to place, I mean, this is how they do it.
spk_0 And so the plan is for a gamble to use this place to return to the prison to free all
spk_0 his compatriot Vesda.
spk_0 And if that happens, the sky would rain demons.
spk_0 And all this while, Batel has felt better than she's ever felt and that, you know, she's
spk_0 been struggling to belong trying to, you know, she doesn't know if she wants to captain
spk_0 a ship.
spk_0 And yeah, she was going to go back to Jag, but that even that seems like not quite right.
spk_0 And so she's just having trouble finding her place like she's just this loose puzzle
spk_0 piece.
spk_0 And now things are starting to fit in.
spk_0 And she sees what is pretty much her destiny because they're doing tests on her.
spk_0 And I'm not just sure how this happens, but just playing around, I guess, I guess this
spk_0 is earlier because chapel was back during this scene with Batel and the eyes is that they
spk_0 noticed that her biological makeup, you know, her physiology matches the statue that's overseeing
spk_0 the prison that the one in the same and the spots there to say, yeah, that's, you know,
spk_0 the effect after cause or before cause that time doesn't work properly or linearly in
spk_0 the prison.
spk_0 And so the fact that she's there and here makes perfect sense.
spk_0 Yep.
spk_0 And then we have the eye violence scene.
spk_0 Right.
spk_0 And I looked away because I cannot, I can't do eye violence.
spk_0 Just can't.
spk_0 I can't even do the hint of eye violence.
spk_0 If there's even a hint like a needle is coming close to someone's eye, I'm just like,
spk_0 no, I'm turning away.
spk_0 Well, they didn't really poke.
spk_0 I don't care.
spk_0 I don't care.
spk_0 It seems to be something they do in Star Trek a lot is the attack of the eyes.
spk_0 But it's just this blind devotion.
spk_0 It's like they're under some kind of spell.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Or even chant something and kind of this faux Latin sort of thing.
spk_0 I'm sure it's their alien language, but it does have a kind of a Latin demonic kind
spk_0 of thing going on.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 That's, you know, and since they worship them like gods and they're dressed kind of like
spk_0 a priest, even with a staff and orders them to stab themselves in the eyes and they
spk_0 do all these people on this planet.
spk_0 And once they do that, that's when our little friend Campbell shows up again and grabs
spk_0 and bang it and drags him through this portal.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 I just, after he's finished telling this story, Campbell just suddenly appears and grabs
spk_0 him, bang, and because you need two people to go through the portal, grabs him and trolls
spk_0 both of them through.
spk_0 So they end up being on this prison facility.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 And Vodian.
spk_0 So it's funny because I wrote down, I wrote down the warden and that I, before it was
spk_0 even really revealed, I wrote down, but tell us the warden, the sleeper has awakened.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 It's a very much a dune thing that she's awakening to her power.
spk_0 Yes.
spk_0 And she senses, was basically destiny.
spk_0 And I think, you know, that's where we are after, um, Benga goes through with Campbell's,
spk_0 I believe they return to the ship and they're, you know, addressing this and they're discussing
spk_0 what to do next.
spk_0 And that's when the tell is certain that she is the person to deal with this.
spk_0 And you see, uh, back in the prison that, um, Campbell is taunting him, Benga and fires
spk_0 his hand bolt at, uh, basically, you know, his little cantrip action.
spk_0 His poor sliding.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Uh, just like maybe a fire bolts, maybe, uh, which bolts, maybe, um, Eldridge blast,
spk_0 probably an Eldridge blast.
spk_0 There's something, um, a warlock about the, uh, yeah.
spk_0 And zaps the statue and it creates this mark on its forehead and that same mark appears
spk_0 on Betel and I think that's why they run tests on her and note that she matches, um, the
spk_0 statue that they're winning the same person.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Uh, and, uh, uh, also we get a little, uh, apparently it seems like a throwaway line,
spk_0 but uh, Vulcans can sense earthquakes.
spk_0 Did you know that?
spk_0 I did not know that.
spk_0 Wow.
spk_0 So they're like birds or dogs or cats.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Vulcans are like dogs and cats.
spk_0 Um, well, I guess if their plan is called Vulcan, they probably have a lot of, um,
spk_0 tectonic activity.
spk_0 And so it's probably a survival thing that developed through evolution.
spk_0 Sure.
spk_0 Is to know when eruptions going to happen.
spk_0 And so they can protect themselves that, you know, earthquakes is something they could
spk_0 pick up on.
spk_0 But yeah, when they're testing Betel, um, with her treatments for the Gorn, she's had,
spk_0 you know, Spock work with her to, you know, develop her, um, pain tolerance.
spk_0 Um, yeah, tolerance, I guess, uh, I was trying to think of a cooler word to say control,
spk_0 but yeah, pain tolerance for management.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Uh, uh, Eunah's blood, uh, to help her, um, to incorporate this, they have the chimerif
spk_0 flower that they put in her to help her cells adapt.
spk_0 And so she's had all these different treatments.
spk_0 And she's picked up all this different DNA from all these different races.
spk_0 And they talk about this, um, survival instinct and the battle of good and evil is that
spk_0 evolutionarily, we developed to fight, um, the things that threaten us and that as she's
spk_0 gone through these treatments, she's picked up on these survival instincts.
spk_0 You know, she's picked it up from all these different races.
spk_0 And I'm going have to cough.
spk_0 So I'm learning, uh, mute.
spk_0 Yeah, that was me earlier.
spk_0 I coughed like five times.
spk_0 Sorry, allergies are really bad.
spk_0 There's something in the air and my eyes are watering.
spk_0 My nose is running and my full allergies are fucking worse than anything.
spk_0 Yeah, I think I get a worse than the winter weirdly.
spk_0 And I don't know why because it's like there's no growy things around to make me allergic.
spk_0 So it must be just dust or something.
spk_0 But yeah, probably dust from the furnace.
spk_0 Yeah, dust from the furnace, which I think we have some filters that I can replace.
spk_0 But anyhow, yeah, that she's developed these instincts to fight evil.
spk_0 And it's, uh, kind of out there theory and you can see spot kind of just almost rolling
spk_0 his eyes, but he's there with them because he, you know, it's, it's Star Trek.
spk_0 He's seen some weird things.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 And you see, um, of course, Pike being resistant to the idea,
spk_0 because he doesn't lose, but tell to this and she doesn't want her to be the one, you know,
spk_0 sacrificing and having to stand guard over all these Vesda for all eternity.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Well, um, the thing is is that they don't have enough power to get the gateway open
spk_0 so that they can go after gamble and get to Evadia 9.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 So, um, and earlier, and we didn't mention this yet, but, uh, our, uh,
spk_0 oh, yeah, Kirk's one wife.
spk_0 Him Kirk.
spk_0 He's, he's hanging around and, uh, basically let Pike know, hey, you know, we're standing by to help.
spk_0 If you need some help, um, and, uh, it's like, okay, great.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 The captain of the Farragut basically wrote a blank check for anything that the enterprise needs
spk_0 for saving your life.
spk_0 And so, yeah, they're in the neighborhood and offer assistance, which is required because
spk_0 they're going to need lots of power to open this door so they can get to Embinga and take out gamble.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 The, basically the power of the Sun, they need the power of the Sun.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 And the phaser banks can apparently supply half of that power.
spk_0 Right.
spk_0 And so they're like, well, we can, we can do two ships together, uh, but with that work,
spk_0 or would it, it wouldn't actually help know this, the phasers are complimentary.
spk_0 Don't ask me how it works.
spk_0 That's what they said.
spk_0 They said it works.
spk_0 And so whatever.
spk_0 Let's just say it works.
spk_0 Team meeting is great.
spk_0 Just got these greatness seen because they're like, we need power.
spk_0 Is that nuclear battery?
spk_0 We need a lot of power.
spk_0 Two nuclear batteries.
spk_0 It's like, oh, we need this much power.
spk_0 It's like, well, that's the power of the Sun.
spk_0 Our phaser alone does half the power of the Sun.
spk_0 So we'll need two phasers, but they need to be synchronous from two separate ships.
spk_0 But they're not additive is what Spock says.
spk_0 And then Scottie says, yeah, but they're complimentary.
spk_0 And you see Spock go, ah, that's dating.
spk_0 So yeah, they can fire two phasers at the same location.
spk_0 But they have to find manually.
spk_0 Immaculate and it has to be perfectly in sync.
spk_0 Because otherwise, though, basically blow up the planet.
spk_0 Yeah. So yeah, this requires.
spk_0 You know what's going to happen.
spk_0 Synchronicity, perfect synchronicity with the with the very good.
spk_0 Now, this is actually probably my favorite scene in the whole episode.
spk_0 And that is one of the coolest scenes in the whole of the series so far.
spk_0 Yeah, exactly.
spk_0 And it's because of course Spock says there is a way we can do this.
spk_0 And if we mind meld, we'll be, you know, we'll be able to act at the same time.
spk_0 We will be, you know, perfectly in sync.
spk_0 And the thing is is that Burke saw kind of like scared a little bit.
spk_0 You know, it's like, what are you going to see in there?
spk_0 It's like, it's not, I don't read your whole mind.
spk_0 Okay.
spk_0 It's like, well, there's this thing that happened on the moon of Ryan.
spk_0 Did he say?
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 So if you see this, if you see the judgment.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 But it's interesting to me because it feels to me like Spock and Jim are flirting.
spk_0 It's coded that way.
spk_0 You see Erica looking at both of them side-eyed like they are flirting because Kirk
spk_0 makes several references.
spk_0 At least you brought me to a bar.
spk_0 You could buy me a drink first.
spk_0 Yeah, because mind melds are very intimate.
spk_0 You're sharing your innermost thoughts with somebody.
spk_0 And you're technically sharing your body too.
spk_0 Because in a way, Spock will be inside his body manipulating his limbs.
spk_0 Well, no, he will, they're, they're, they're just tied together.
spk_0 And so they know what each other's thinking.
spk_0 So they're in each other's minds.
spk_0 It's not a one-way connection.
spk_0 But in such a way that they'll act in perfect unity kind of like really, really good synchronized
spk_0 swimming.
spk_0 Yes, like better than any synchronized swimming you've ever seen.
spk_0 And so the visuals of these two ships coming together and you know, just basically positioning
spk_0 themselves in absolute perfect accuracy.
spk_0 And then flipping on their sides.
spk_0 So that basically their roofs are pointing at each other.
spk_0 And then speaking at the same time, moving at the same time is just all really so cool to watch.
spk_0 It's so cool.
spk_0 Yeah, Erica's not Erica.
spk_0 Um, the heros says that the communication is faster than their calm system.
spk_0 That there's probably a delay on her end that they're actually speaking at the same time.
spk_0 And so the delay that she's getting is like, whoa, you know,
spk_0 it's like odd that, you know, it's that instant.
spk_0 And uh, Pellia calls it poetic, but really it's belletic.
spk_0 Because it's like a perfect synchronized motion.
spk_0 And yeah, the way their hands both move over the, you know, the controls to position the ships.
spk_0 So their saucer to saucer with their phasers aimed at this little energy cell.
spk_0 On this giant door and they both fire, which is pretty funny because there's um,
spk_0 Patel and Pike in their leathers just standing in front of this door is these two ships blast the power of the sun into the pack of it.
spk_0 It's like, that's a lot of trust you have your crew there.
spk_0 Yeah, well, that's it opens the door though.
spk_0 Then the beam never gets close enough to them.
spk_0 And they stand there for the longest last time.
spk_0 And I'm like, how much heat is that phaser giving off?
spk_0 Oh, those two phasers giving off to the back of that thing.
spk_0 Yeah, the power of the sun through that door and let them shut off the phasers already.
spk_0 Well, they should be shutting off the phasers anyway before they go through the door.
spk_0 Yeah, but as soon as they shut it off, the door closes.
spk_0 So I noticed that the phasers on there for as long as the doors open.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 And so it's just the beam weapon concentrated in this small area for long period of time as they
spk_0 discuss whether or not to go through the doors like just go.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 One important thing to note as we go into this last bit is that
spk_0 in Benga realizes that because he didn't come down to body and nine, he didn't go in the prison
spk_0 when Gamble got possessed.
spk_0 So this is his first time being in the prison, but he figured it out pretty quickly.
spk_0 Right.
spk_0 And he he figures out a way to separate himself from Gamble so Gamble cannot escape.
spk_0 Yeah, you're also threatens to kill himself.
spk_0 Yeah, that too.
spk_0 And he would do it.
spk_0 Yeah, and you would do it.
spk_0 He won't even hold the knife to himself, which is weird because there's like these
spk_0 almost like a bottomless pit at the edge of all these platforms they could just hurl himself off of.
spk_0 But he threatens to kill himself because you need to get in, you need to get out.
spk_0 So as long as there's two of them there, Gamble can do whatever.
spk_0 But yeah, Gamble disarms him of the knife.
spk_0 And then as they're having this kind of, I guess Gamble's a little distracted and
spk_0 Benga just runs up and hurls him through a door.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 That stays on the other side.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 And that's only going to hold him for so long, of course.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 But it gives Batell and Pike time to get there.
spk_0 And that's when things really start to get weird.
spk_0 Because when Gamble finds his way back in, we have to call him Gamble because, you know,
spk_0 that's the bottom.
spk_0 I don't know the Vesda's name for one thing.
spk_0 Yeah, and I don't care to know the Vesda's name.
spk_0 Because that might be inferred as respect.
spk_0 And I have no respect for the Vesda.
spk_0 So, of course,
spk_0 he comes back in and he's ready to do battle.
spk_0 He realizes now that Batell is the warden.
spk_0
spk_0 And he's attacking her.
spk_0 Well, he's attacking the statue.
spk_0 And obviously, he has completely forgotten about cause before or cause after effect.
spk_0 Right.
spk_0 So, yeah.
spk_0 He's apparently forgotten about that.
spk_0 And he keeps, you know, slashing at the statue and wounds keep appearing on her.
spk_0 And she's only actually getting more powerful.
spk_0 The more he attacks her, the more powerful she starts to become.
spk_0 And then everything stops for a few minutes.
spk_0 Because we go into a bunch of scenes about Batell and Pike having a life together.
spk_0 Right.
spk_0 And I thought, at first, what is the point of this?
spk_0 And then I realized at the end what the point of it was, was that she needed to have that time
spk_0 with him.
spk_0 She needed to live a full life in those few seconds that seemed like years as the final top up of her
spk_0 power.
spk_0 Yep.
spk_0 But these scenes are fascinating.
spk_0 And there's so much door knocking.
spk_0 There's so much door knocking.
spk_0 There's so much door knocking.
spk_0 And that's, that's, yeah.
spk_0 And I was always like, don't answer the door.
spk_0 Don't answer the door.
spk_0 Don't answer the door.
spk_0 The only time that it was okay was when their daughter came in.
spk_0 But anyway, I knew immediately what she was doing.
spk_0 Cause it is a very fifth element.
spk_0 You have to combat hate with love.
spk_0 Darkness with light.
spk_0 And so this was her power up for her Kamehameha move.
spk_0 If you're a Dragon Ball Z person.
spk_0 She had to power up with a whole lifetime of love and affection and joy and just
spk_0 life experience.
spk_0 And so she gives herself and Pike who she knows is destined for this accident as well.
spk_0 And so there are two, I guess, cursed by destiny people.
spk_0 So it's both real and a fabrication of what their life could be.
spk_0 And so you see them living together.
spk_0 You see an anniversary when they give each other gifts.
spk_0 And she gives him this, this chef's apron.
spk_0 And you like the way she brought it to him.
spk_0 It's just the way she trots over there.
spk_0 She just kind of trots in this little cute way.
spk_0 The little, yeah, shoulders going up and down.
spk_0 And it's like a chef Pike.
spk_0 I think it says that has like the delta on it.
spk_0 They have the other anniversary.
spk_0 They have a child.
spk_0 They have various dogs.
spk_0 Their little girl grows up and is marrying April's son.
spk_0 It's like they announced their engagement.
spk_0 And you see them in old age.
spk_0 And I think everybody has said that Pike and old age make up.
spk_0 Looks like Bruce Greenwood.
spk_0 Yeah, which is freaky as fuck.
spk_0 Yeah, they didn't go overboard with the old age makeup.
spk_0 It's convincing.
spk_0 She's in what appears to be her sick bed.
spk_0 It's last of her days, it seems.
spk_0 He's at her bedside.
spk_0 And yeah, all this while they keep getting knocks on the door.
spk_0 And the knock on the door turns out to be their daughter.
spk_0 It turns out to be Ix assignment that he goes off.
spk_0 And he doesn't have the accident in returns.
spk_0 And he's frightened that for the first time in his life,
spk_0 he doesn't know what's going to happen next.
spk_0 And she says that's a gift.
spk_0 That's the gift you've been given is life.
spk_0 And the unexpected.
spk_0 And that's embraced that.
spk_0 And so yeah, they lived this whole life together.
spk_0 And then at the very end, with that knock on the door.
spk_0 And it's a knock that seems to get
spk_0 more ominous and urgent as it goes by.
spk_0 That when he finally opens the door
spk_0 after she seems to have passed away,
spk_0 there's Gamble on the other side of it.
spk_0 And they return to the reality they're in
spk_0 with inside the prison.
spk_0 And Betel starts to glow.
spk_0 But for this Gamble hit Pike pretty hard with, you know,
spk_0 another one of his spells from his Warlock spell book.
spk_0 Another eldritch blast.
spk_0 Last time to, times two.
spk_0 Yeah, some kind of pain, suffocation kind of spell.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 But yeah, she starts to risk glowing.
spk_0 And she basically does her
spk_0 Ripley talking to the alien queen kind of line, you know.
spk_0 It's like, I am the light.
spk_0 You are the darkness.
spk_0 It's like I'm more powerful than you can imagine.
spk_0 Yep.
spk_0 And then blasts him.
spk_0 And it doesn't take much.
spk_0 She can be a ma as the hell out of him.
spk_0 She really does.
spk_0 And then her body dissolves.
spk_0 And well, the thing is we forgot to say is that
spk_0 Gamble destroys the statue.
spk_0 Oh, yeah.
spk_0 She destroys the statue.
spk_0 Releases all the the baddie waddies.
spk_0 They come pouring out of the prison well.
spk_0 Like the girlfriend, the ring,
spk_0 multiplied as dark sperm.
spk_0 So bad.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 And she's just like, nah.
spk_0 She just, she takes Gamble out
spk_0 and her body dissolves and reforms as the statue
spk_0 as it was before Gamble destroyed it.
spk_0 And there she will remain forever,
spk_0 forever, until until the universe dies, I guess.
spk_0 As she, did she call herself a beholder, I think?
spk_0 She's kind of a guardian.
spk_0 Yeah, she said she was a beholder.
spk_0 I think she also said she was
spk_0 the warden.
spk_0 So yeah.
spk_0 Yeah, she has a lifetime of love
spk_0 that acts as a barrier to all the,
spk_0 the evil.
spk_0 Yeah, indeed.
spk_0 And um, and Pikes devastated.
spk_0 Of course.
spk_0 And he shares a drink with,
spk_0 and I know who asked if he's ready to talk about it.
spk_0 And he says no.
spk_0 So they just share a drink together.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 And we get a scene where Jim and Spock are playing chess.
spk_0 Yep.
spk_0 And and and flirting and they're flirting.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Oh, yeah.
spk_0 And I think Erica comes by to, oh, no, Christine,
spk_0 I don't know.
spk_0 I'm doing the aftersame Christina.
spk_0 Lawn comes by is like, what are you talking about?
spk_0 Yes, because they're talking about his, uh,
spk_0 one trip and then Krix like, oh,
spk_0 must be a dance practice.
spk_0 And she kind of looks embarrassing,
spk_0 but you know, embarrassed and then Krix taps his head
spk_0 like still trap.
spk_0 Remember everything Kirk and Lawn did or Kirk Spock and Lawn
spk_0 did together.
spk_0 So.
spk_0 Well, I don't know that he remembers everything,
spk_0 but he made, I'm sure he can see everything.
spk_0 But he certainly applies it.
spk_0 And then finally, finally, we get a reunion of the Kerk brothers.
spk_0 Yeah, because Sam, when Spock goes up to go off to
spk_0 that in quotes dance practice.
spk_0 Yeah, they fuck.
spk_0 Yeah, Sam comes over and he's like nursing a drink and
spk_0 T and Sam or T and Jim smile at each other as they share a drink.
spk_0 Yep.
spk_0 So it's a little touching end.
spk_0 Yeah, it is.
spk_0 One parting gift, of course, they got was the, uh,
spk_0 the whole, uh, bunch of planets and what not, they'd never been to.
spk_0 Yeah, Corby leaves that with the, with Nurse Chapel,
spk_0 as he bids for a while, because he's saying it's,
spk_0 it's best that I stay with the Vesda gone.
spk_0 There's like so much knowledge and so much information about, you know,
spk_0 how to, um, to avoid death or cheat death.
spk_0 So he's going to say, oh, yeah, that's his whole thing.
spk_0 Yeah, it doesn't go well for him.
spk_0 I also imply that the people are recovering.
spk_0 So they're probably getting those little bands that regenerate your eyes.
spk_0 But I'm also.
spk_0 Yeah, so, yeah, hopefully that's, you know, they're repairing the damage there.
spk_0 Yeah, and yeah, uh, Pike's still out of sorts goes up to the bridge.
spk_0 I raised kind of, uh, on egg shells.
spk_0 A little bit.
spk_0 Erica's like, is this a kind of hidden situation?
spk_0 He's like, well, aren't you take it out, uh, how fast you want?
spk_0 And we'll make it into a divature.
spk_0 And that's pretty much it.
spk_0 They're off the go.
spk_0 Yep.
spk_0 To seek out new life and new civilization.
spk_0 New life and new civilizations.
spk_0 You know, five year mission that, uh, I did not escape my attention.
spk_0 Yeah, well, I talked about it being enough for a five year mission.
spk_0 And yeah, but it's just seeing this was a five year mission.
spk_0 It's like, well, it was enough to like ring a bell.
spk_0 Yeah, yeah.
spk_0 So, I find it interesting that Betel has been in the series since Episode 1.
spk_0 And I think people forget that sometimes.
spk_0 Well, yeah, because they were at his cabin and they even talk about him shaving.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 And that she found kissing him, you know, his face was too itchy.
spk_0 Yeah. Well, when a when a beard is too bristly,
spk_0 it can be a painful for someone trying to kiss your lips.
spk_0 Yep.
spk_0 So, but, uh, one thing I forgot to say, um, one of the things that made me laugh out loud
spk_0 was that their daughter, they're in their life they had together, um,
spk_0 called Spock Uncle Sock.
spk_0 Uncle Sock, yep.
spk_0 And the nickname stuck.
spk_0 It's like, he even pikes like his name is Spock.
spk_0 He's like, he likes his nickname.
spk_0 Yeah, she, he says, you've known how to say Spock since you before you were four years old.
spk_0 And that's when she says, but he likes his nickname.
spk_0 He's Uncle Sock.
spk_0 Uncle Sock.
spk_0 So, yeah, this, this, I appreciate that this was not a season ending cliffhanger.
spk_0 I also feel that it was rushed.
spk_0 Somebody addressed that this was possibly like this season was possibly done during a writer's strike.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 And I can, it's actually probably the whiff of that.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 It's not the strongest writing.
spk_0 It's uneven.
spk_0 I mean, some episodes like the holodeck one, like, you know, that seems right or
spk_0 really, you know, there seems something about that.
spk_0 And but, yeah, some of the choices that make some of the things they discuss, the Vesta themselves being evil,
spk_0 which is not typically something Star Trek addresses is good and evil.
spk_0 It's, you know, it's more, I guess, well, deep space time does kind of a thing like that.
spk_0 But yeah, it's kind of leaning more towards fantasy than science fiction than that respect.
spk_0 But yeah, I can, I can see it being a bit uneven.
spk_0 But yeah, this, I do like that, they wrapped it up and this could be a season like series finale,
spk_0 not just a season finale.
spk_0 It could possibly do that.
spk_0 It wraps up well enough that they could just end it here, but they do have another two seasons, I think, planned.
spk_0 Well, technically one and a half, there'll be 10 episodes in season four and six episodes in season five.
spk_0 Six episode run.
spk_0 Yeah, that's short.
spk_0 I feel like we're being short changed.
spk_0 Yeah, it does seem like that.
spk_0 Well, you know, Paramount's been trying to do various deals and whatnot.
spk_0 So they've already done the deals.
spk_0 Yeah, that's true.
spk_0 I've already got what they wanted.
spk_0 Yeah, apparently what they want is to have content without spending any money
spk_0 so that they can keep lining their big bank accounts.
spk_0 Well, that's why so many people have been pushing AI because it's a way to create
spk_0 content without having either writers or actors.
spk_0 Tampidous.
spk_0 So yeah, they don't realize what the thing they're creating, nobody's going to want to watch it
spk_0 because it's not going to have any soul behind it.
spk_0 It's not going to have any talent behind it.
spk_0 And at most of the time, it's going to be plagiarized from other material because
spk_0 where else are they going to source that?
spk_0 The AI has to create from something.
spk_0 And since it can't create from its own imagination, it has to borrow from other places.
spk_0 And what happens when that lawsuit or class action suit drops that says,
spk_0 hey, this is plagiarized material that you have no authority and you have no, you didn't pay for.
spk_0 This is intellectual property that you're just trading stuff out of that.
spk_0 Who's going to want to watch?
spk_0 It's not going to be good.
spk_0 I mean, we've seen AI slop and it's called slop for a reason.
spk_0 Is it's not good?
spk_0 Everybody looks too plasticky and shiny and there's no humanity in the voices.
spk_0 It's just.
spk_0 And can I just say there was a training thing, a training module that I had to do for work.
spk_0 And I can't say, of course, what was in the training module, but it had these little
spk_0 vignettes that were set up like it was someone talking on a podcast, but it was like,
spk_0 I could tell that the voices were AI.
spk_0 Absolutely could tell.
spk_0 So I found that very disappointing.
spk_0 Yeah, they don't want to pay an actor because I've witnessed similar training materials.
spk_0 Only they were internal employees that probably weren't paid to do it.
spk_0 It was just part of their job.
spk_0 Yes, he does.
spk_0 So they're not actors.
spk_0 Yeah, that's the thing.
spk_0 They used to do it that way.
spk_0 They used to have just people from the company doing the voices, but not any more apparently.
spk_0 No.
spk_0 And the thing is, when every sentence is structured like this and has the exact same cadence,
spk_0 you notice.
spk_0 And then the next time that you hear that exact same sentence with different words,
spk_0 the cadence is the same.
spk_0 Restrating.
spk_0 Anyway, what I meant by saying I felt it was rushed.
spk_0 I felt the episode was rushed.
spk_0 I felt like there was a content in the episode that it could have been two episodes.
spk_0 And they just crammed it into one.
spk_0 I didn't feel it with this particular episode.
spk_0 It is an episode two halves and I can see how you could split the house up and give each more
spk_0 time to breathe.
spk_0 But I think we had just enough time in their fabricated world.
spk_0 I don't think that needed to be any longer than it was.
spk_0 Oh, I'm not saying that.
spk_0 I'm just saying that all of the events leading up to that point were really rushed.
spk_0 Yeah, them all the sudden we're on SkyGowan all the sudden.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 I think we could have had more gamble, but we didn't.
spk_0 It just seemed like it was so fast.
spk_0 Yeah, I could see another episode building up gamble.
spk_0 Because well, we got the one when he was first infected.
spk_0 But him on SkyGowan developing a following.
spk_0 That could have been its own thing.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 But that they squeezed it in here.
spk_0
spk_0 It works.
spk_0 It's a little wild because people seem to be in two places at once a lot.
spk_0 Because of, like you said, it's seeming rushed.
spk_0 Gamble seems to be up where he can grab Ambinga and toss him through the door.
spk_0 But he also seems to be down, getting people to stab themselves in the eye.
spk_0 Really close time together.
spk_0 So it's like he did one and then he did the other is like how much of a gap is between those two events.
spk_0 Yeah. That's why.
spk_0 Is he up on the upper levels or is he down on the planet?
spk_0 Well, he probably could have done it from up above.
spk_0 I can't be everywhere at once.
spk_0 So it's odd that he's in both places pretty close to one another.
spk_0 And I can see that giving the feel of something that's been a bit rushed.
spk_0 Yeah. I just feel like they could have been more.
spk_0 But again, thinking about how this was probably written before a writer's strike or trying to be developed at some point with a writer's strike going on.
spk_0 I can see how they ended up having a more truncated version of the season finale.
spk_0 And I'm not saying I didn't like it.
spk_0 I did.
spk_0 Right.
spk_0 And I was very appreciative that there were no fucking season cliffhangers.
spk_0 Because I think they learned their lesson after the reaction of the cliffhanger of season two.
spk_0 Right.
spk_0 A lot of people don't like that part two.
spk_0 And I was wondering why is I liked part two more than part one.
spk_0 Well, maybe because they're the kind of people that like season in and cliffhangers and those people are crazy.
spk_0 Right.
spk_0 I like this episode too.
spk_0 I do find one big problem with it is that there doesn't seem to be a start to the time loop.
spk_0 And I know that's the thing about time.
spk_0 Well, yeah, that's the thing about time and that there's all this effect before cause thing.
spk_0 But the statue, you know, the Batell statue is there guarding over a prison in which it doesn't seem they were ever imprisoned.
spk_0 We never get them being imprisoned.
spk_0 We get them being re-imprisoned.
spk_0 We get them escaping and then returning.
spk_0 But we never get them being put there in the first place.
spk_0 We don't know how that happens.
spk_0 Because effect before cause.
spk_0 Okay.
spk_0 So that's what happens in this place.
spk_0 In this place, think of it like the wormhole aliens.
spk_0 Right.
spk_0 Right.
spk_0 How they experience time as everything all at once.
spk_0 They don't understand yesterday or tomorrow.
spk_0 Right.
spk_0 It seems like this is the similar circumstance where time exists all at once.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 And so when you impose your will on a statue of a warden, guess what?
spk_0 You've done nothing.
spk_0 Because she's going to come back every time and rebuild it.
spk_0 She's going to keep those desda there.
spk_0 That is her sole purpose now.
spk_0 Yeah. We just have no explanation to this how they got there in the first place.
spk_0 I don't care.
spk_0 It doesn't bother me at all.
spk_0 Because this place is so ancient.
spk_0 Right.
spk_0 And see, we see time linearly.
spk_0 And that is not what this is.
spk_0 This is not linear time.
spk_0 This place, the whole entire structure does not obey the laws of time.
spk_0 So it doesn't matter when they first got imprisoned.
spk_0 Because it's, they don't follow linear time.
spk_0 You can't say when something is because it's all together.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 It still bugs me.
spk_0 Well, that's too bad, then.
spk_0 How did they get there?
spk_0 It's like they were always there in period.
spk_0 It's like, I don't...
spk_0 Then why are they a problem?
spk_0 Why were they a problem before?
spk_0 Well, when they were outside of their prison, they had to obey linear time, didn't they?
spk_0 Were they ever outside the prison?
spk_0 Well, yeah. Because how else would they have been imprisoned?
spk_0 How else would they have been the scourge?
spk_0 They were always imprisoned.
spk_0 Because if they were always imprisoned, they could have never escaped.
spk_0 And the one time they escaped, they were returned to prison.
spk_0 So they were never outside the prison.
spk_0 Well, it depends on your viewpoint of the battle between good and evil.
spk_0 Yeah. So, yeah.
spk_0 Evil existed, wasn't prison somehow.
spk_0 Is the gate was returned to prison.
spk_0 That's where the beholder comes from, the warden.
spk_0 You're trying to use the three-dimensional thought on something that is beyond our comprehension.
spk_0 Yeah. It's just...
spk_0 It's missing something with that... that loop.
spk_0 Well, our brains just can't process it.
spk_0 Right. Mine's trying to desperately.
spk_0 Yeah. Well, that's the thing, though. We are about lily humans.
spk_0 We do not have the consciousness to perceive anything, but what our poor brains let us perceive.
spk_0 And we are not capable of understanding quantum realities.
spk_0 We're not capable of understanding all time existing at once.
spk_0 We're not capable of any of those things, because we're not advanced enough.
spk_0 We haven't evolved to that point.
spk_0 Interesting. Because you refer yourself as the beholder.
spk_0 And if you're talking about quantum mechanics, that reality is what's in the eye of the beholder.
spk_0 Is that's what the...
spk_0 You can either determine the speed or the direction, but not both of an atom.
spk_0 And so you have to decide between one or the other.
spk_0 It's that kind of scenario.
spk_0 Yeah. Yeah.
spk_0 So, what you determine, and they even talk about how the place is built on dualities.
spk_0 That's why there's two that's required to go in and out at any one time.
spk_0 That's why there's lights, taballac darkness, etc.
spk_0 There's just everything. There's like a binary nature to this realm.
spk_0 Indeed.
spk_0 Even with cause and effect and how those two are confused.
spk_0 Yeah. All right, then. So you've already kind of expressed your ideas of how you feel about the season overall.
spk_0 Yeah, uneven.
spk_0 It's I liked bits I didn't.
spk_0 This is a good episode of like it as a closer. I could even see it as a series closer.
spk_0 Yeah, there's episodes are really liked. And once I could have done without.
spk_0 And some that are just kind of well, it's a lot of ups and downs.
spk_0 I don't know if there's anything that was just kind of there hanging out in the middle.
spk_0 Maybe terrarium.
spk_0 Yeah, as much as I like that, it was very familiar in some respects.
spk_0 But it was a good piece for for Erica or take us as nice to get her own episode, you know, finally well and truly.
spk_0 Fucking veterans.
spk_0 So yeah, a bit uneven.
spk_0 Interesting to see what comes next because I know Muppets or puppets are going to be involved in the subcoming season.
spk_0 Yeah, I've seen a picture.
spk_0 I feel like they should have eliminated the episode for half-fulcans.
spk_0 And instead done episodes nine and ten as this whole season to now.
spk_0 I feel like that should have a two.
spk_0 Two.
spk_0 Two parter to like end the season, but you know, end on a conclusion of the harder not post-ponent till next time.
spk_0 Yeah, which is like what discovery did with their season two because in fact, it's even labeled parts one and two such sweet sorrow, sorrow part one such sweet sorrow part two.
spk_0 Okay.
spk_0 And so those two are interconnected, you know, they're they're part of the same thing.
spk_0 It's like this, this whole thing about getting discovery out of the equation and they took their time.
spk_0 And they didn't scram it all into one episode.
spk_0 And that was back when you know, discovery would run for like 12 to 15 episodes.
spk_0 I feel like 10 episodes just isn't enough.
spk_0 Yeah, we could get more of what the Vesta are because it is debulous.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 I mean, there's references to ancient evil and stuff like that.
spk_0 But how they were worshipped as gods and how they were imprisoned in the first place.
spk_0 Now, these are things that could have been addressed if it had been two episodes instead of one.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Because it's like, introduce a villain.
spk_0 They'll in escapes deal with villain end of say needs a little bit more just just to color in the lines a bit.
spk_0 Yeah, which is why I said it was rushed.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Anyway, the season for me to was uneven.
spk_0 There were things that I really liked and there was four and a half Vulcans.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 And I actually really liked Terrarian.
spk_0 Obviously a lot more than you did.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 It's a good episode.
spk_0 It's just familiar.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 I don't I didn't care because it was Erica and Erica wasn't familiar to the situation.
spk_0 And it was interesting seeing her instead of somebody like Captain Pike or somebody like number one.
spk_0 That was good that it was Erica.
spk_0 And I feel like she shouldn't have had to wait season three to have her episode, but here we are.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 She kind of had one with, you know, she flies the ship, but it wasn't the best because you're dealing with memory issues.
spk_0 So you're not playing the character for we.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0
spk_0 Playing a fragment of the character.
spk_0 We've already talked about this.
spk_0 Let's not revisit it.
spk_0 Right.
spk_0 But overall, I feel like it's still a good season, even though it had its ups and downs.
spk_0 It's still something that I mostly enjoyed except for four and a half Vulcans.
spk_0 But if if nothing else, you know, just seeing Spock and Jim flirting.
spk_0 Just one of my favorite things of all time.
spk_0 All the Spurk fans out there were just losing their minds, you know it.
spk_0 And if you didn't understand why I said Spurk, then you don't understand.
spk_0 That's a ship name, meaning relationship name where you mash the two names together into one.
spk_0 It started with long time ago.
spk_0 I think the first time that I heard it was Benefer and the Portmanto couple name.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 And so Spurk.
spk_0 Which is the way you have to do it.
spk_0 Otherwise it's cock.
spk_0
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Thank you.
spk_0 As I guess the Kelvin universe would be Spurra.
spk_0 Spurra.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Well, Spock apparently even just in our Strangest and Worlds universe gets around a bit.
spk_0 So he does.
spk_0 I know that it's not some people they don't like him having so many romances.
spk_0 I don't care because there's spappled.
spk_0 And they're spawned.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 And there was.
spk_0 I don't even know how to put those together.
spk_0 Spring.
spk_0 Spring.
spk_0 Spring.
spk_0 Spring.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Anyway, so there we go season three.
spk_0 Strangest and Worlds.
spk_0 New life and new civilizations.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Spock getting his catcher wet.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Good times.
spk_0 Good times.
spk_0 All right.
spk_0 Do you have anything more to say, darling?
spk_0 Well, I'm not particularly.
spk_0 I think we talked the hell out of this episode.
spk_0 Cool.
spk_0 Well, that is the end of season three.
spk_0 And we're probably going to just be on hiatus until Strangest and Worlds comes back.
spk_0 Unless we feel a great, impressing need to talk about something in the meantime.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 Imagine that we were going to be a hiatus until season four episode one drops.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 And I'm sorry if that annoys some people, but we are tired.
spk_0 And we have other things we have to do too.
spk_0 This is a specialty podcast devoted specifically to Strangest and Worlds.
spk_0 And so Shield Pudulation is where we just talk about all of the Star Trek, including Strangest and Worlds.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 So we did an episode of Strangest and Worlds over on Shield Pudulation.
spk_0 We did trades.
spk_0 Yes.
spk_0 So it was so great to answer that.
spk_0
spk_0 If you want more of us, we're over there.
spk_0 There's quite a difference between the listeners to this show and those listeners to that show.
spk_0 There's quite a difference between numbers.
spk_0 So if you like what we do here, you can subscribe to Shield Pudulation and get more of the same.
spk_0 Or anywhere with the Star Trek in general.
spk_0 We're doing Datas Day next.
spk_0 The Star Trek next generation season four episode of living.
spk_0 Yeah, I was just going to say that, but you beat me to it.
spk_0 Yeah.
spk_0 All right, then folks, that was season three.
spk_0 And you know what I'm going to say, you know, live long and prosper and keep boldly going.
spk_0 The women, the many, many women that dated spot.
spk_0 Yeah.
